ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION AT TRAFFIC LIGHT APPROX 1.5 VEHICLE LENGTHS BEHIND ANOTHER VEHICLE. VEHICLE IN FRONT OF MINE DID NOT MOVE. PRESSED BRAKE PEDAL WITH MAX PRESSURE. BRAKES DID NOT FULLY ENGAGE CAUSING CONTACT TO BE MADE WITH OTHER VEHICLE. *TR
EVERYTIME I GO TO THE PUMP IT KICKS OUT LIKE THE TANK IS FULL. IF YOU HOLD THE NOZZLE AS ITS BARELY COMING OUT IT WILL WORK NORMAL BUT YOU CANT EVEN USE THE LOWEST NOTCH ON THE PUMP TO SET IT ON TO PUMP GAS, IT WONT WORK. SO IT NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND I'VE TOLD THE CHEVY DEALER ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND NO RECALL. IM TRYING TO MAKE IT A RECALL NOW SO IT WILL BE FIXED. *TR
CONDITIONS: HEAVY MISTING RAIN, 32 DEG F, LOWERING TEMPERATURE, DAYTIME. THIS IS TO REPORT A DESIGN DEFECT OF THE WINDSHIELD DEFOGGING SYSTEM. THE DEFOGGING SYSTEM OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THERE WAS NO FAILURE OF THE EQUIPMENT. WHEN THE WINDSHIELD DEFOGGER IS SELECTED THIS VEHICLES SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY SETS TO OUTSIDE AIR AND TURNS OFF THE AIRCONDITIONING COMPRESSOR AT 32 DEG F AND BELOW. ON DECEMBER 6TH WHILE DRIVING DURING MISTING RAIN AT SLIGHTLY ABOVE FREEZING WITH THE TEMPERATURE SLOWLY LOWERING I EXPERIENCED A RAPID AND SERIOUS PROBLEM CLEARING THE WINDSHIELD OF MIST ON THE INSIDE SURFACE OF THE WINDSHIELD AS WELL AS ALL OTHER GLASS SURFACES WHEN THE TEMPERATURE FELL BELOW FREEZING AND THE AIRCONDITIONING COMPRESSOR CUT OFF. DESPITE USING THE WINDSHIELD DEFOGGER AT THE MAXIMUM HEAT AND FAN SETTING I WAS FORCED TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE I COULD NO LONGER SEE WELL ENOUGH TO DRIVE SAFELY. SELECTION OF WINDSHIELD DEFOGGING MODE ACTUALLY WORSENED THE PROBLEM INITIALLY. I BELIEVE THAT THE DESIGN OF THE SYSTEM CREATES THE POTENTIAL (AND IN THIS CASE ACTUAL) DANGER OF RAPID LOSS OF VISIBILITY TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A LOSS OF EFFECTIVE CONTROL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE VIOLENTLY WHEN CHANGING GEARS. THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SPORADICALLY, THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD FAIL INTERMITTENTLY AND THE FUEL, ODOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER GAUGES WERE INOPERABLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN IMMEDIATELY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED WITH EXTREME PRESSURE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG AND THE COMPUTER WAS SUPPOSE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THIS IS A DEALER DEMO VEHICLE, FIRST 2235 MILES WERE DEMO. DURING MY FIRST MORNING (12HOURS AFTER PICKING UP AT DEALER) OF OWNERSHIP I WAS DESCENDING DOWN A HILL WITH THE CRUISE ON, AND THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO OVER SPEED APPROXIMATELY 5-7MPH. I TRAVEL THIS HILL BOTH WAYS TO/FROM WORK DAILY AND THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME. I THOUGH THIS MIGHT BE AN ABNORMAL ADJUSTMENT WITHIN THE COMPUTER/ETC SO WHILE TAKING IN TO THE DEALER FOR A TPMS (TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM) ISSUE I MENTIONED THE OVERSPEED ISSUE TO THE SERVICE WRITE UP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NORMAL. I DON'T AGREE, BUT MAYBE IT IS. IT DOES ADJUST BACK TO NORMAL CRUISE SET SPEED BUT IS UNIQUE. I HAD A 2002 DODGE RAM 1500 PREVIOUSLY AND IT DID NOT DO THIS, AND I HAVE DROVE OTR (OVER THE ROAD) SEMI-TRUCKS AND KNOW THE DIFFERENCE WITH OVERSPEED BEING NORMAL AND ABNORMAL. I WOULD LIKE THIS TO BE LOOKED INTO, AS IT COULD BE A HAZARD THAT COULD LEAD TO UNSAFE SITUATION. *TR
BRAKE FAILURE. APPLIED BRAKES RAPIDLY DUE TO VEHICLE STOPPING IN FRONT OF ME. NOTICED TIRE SQUEAL THEN BRAKE PEDAL REMAINED FIRM BUT, MY VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. HAD TO STEER INTO OPPOSITE TRAVEL LANE TO AVOID ACCIDENT. BRAKES THEN BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. DROVE TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE CHECKED. SERVICE MANAGER SAID BRAKES CHECKED OK. IN ROUTE TO MY HOME SERVICE BRAKE SOON LIGHT APPEARED ON DASH DISPLAY. *TR
MY 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 HAS UNWANTED ACCELERATION. ITS BEEN HAPPENING FOR APPRX A MONTH, ON AND OFF. ON TUESDAY 10/4/2011 I WAS LEAVING MY PARKING SPACE AT WORK, I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS I WAS TURNING OUT OF THE SPACE, THE VEHICLE JUST TOOK OFF - ACCELERATING WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS. I THEN HIT THE BRAKE WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE. I THEN GOT ON THE HIGHWAY - (I-94) TO HEAD HOME, WHILE DRIVING ON I-94 MY VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD NEARLY STRIKING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. I THEN BACKED OFF AND KEPT A SAFE DISTANCE IN THE EVENT THAT IT HAPPENED AGAIN, SURE ENOUGH - MY VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN. I REALIZED IT WAS DOING IT AND HAD ENOUGH DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND THE OTHER VEHICLES AHEAD, SO I ALLOWED THE VEHICLE TO TAKE OFF. MY SILVERADO GOT UP TO ABOUT 1500 RPMS AT 60MPH, I CLEARLY HAD MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND THE GAS, FEET FLAT ON THE FLOOR. I ALLOWED IT TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN FOR APPRX 1 MINUTE BUT THEN HAD TO STOP. IT IS CLEARLY DRIVING ITSELF. I DROVE THE TRUCK STRAIGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND LEFT IT FOR THE SHOP TO LOOK AT THE NEXT DAY. THE SERVICE DEPT COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM, GO FIGURE. IN THE PAST MONTH I'VE NEARLY HIT SEVERAL PARKED CARS WHEN PULLING INTO PARKING SPACES AS THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF ACCELERATING, IN THESE EVENTS I WAS ALSO ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE W THE BRAKE. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT THIS FROM NEW IN 2011 AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THAT GENERAL MOTORS WOULD RATHER LAWYER-UP THAN TO HAVE TO REPLACE AIRBAGS. I PERSONALLY AM POINTING THE FINGER AT NHTSA AND HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR ANY INJURIES OR DEATHS AS A RESULT FROM A FAULTY AIRBAG DUE TO FACT THAT THEY WILL NOT ENFORCE GM TO REPLACE THEM. WHAT GOOD IS NHTSA IF GM CAN BULLY THEM AND REFUSE TO COMPLY. AS I HAVE SAID, I PERSONALLY AM HOLDING NHTSA ACCOUNTABLE FOR AND INJURIES OR DEATHS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL.
I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH A FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL, MY FUEL GAUGE LIGHT JUST COMES ON AND THE FUEL GAUGE GOES DOWN TO EMPTY. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLS LOSING ALL POWER AND CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE (BRAKES, STEERING). AS I REACH THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, I HAVE TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT STARTS RIGHT BACK UP BUT THE FUEL GAUGE STAYS AT EMPTY. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT A GM DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS STATED BY THE TECH THAT VEHICLE IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THIS WAS ALSO CONFIRMED BY GM ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT. IF I RECALL, THE FUEL PUMP IS PLACED MORE TOWARD THE BACK OF TRUCK AND WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL GAS MOVES TOWARDS FRONT OF TANK GIVING THE FUEL SENSOR A FALSE READING. I'M NO ENGINEER BUT I HAD A 2009 SILVERADO AND NEVER CAME ACROSS THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A BIG VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE THIS POSES A GREAT SAFETY RISK TO MYSELF AND FAMILY AS WELL AS THE PUBLIC. MANY TIMES WHEN THE TRUCK HAS LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING CAPABILITY, MYSELF OR MY FAMILY MEMBERS WHO ARE DRIVING HAVE NARROWLY AVOIDED ACCIDENTS. GM TECH AND GM CORPORATE SAID REMEDY IS TO KEEP MORE GAS IN VEHICLE. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM AS AT TIMES IN TRAVEL I MAY NOT KEEP MY TANK AS FULL AS REQUIRED BY GM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO K1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN WHICH THE SET BELTS DID NOT RESTRAIN HIM AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS THROWN INTO THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE KNEE, NECK AND HEAD. THE DEALER WAS SENDING SOMEONE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 4,900.
#1. VEHICLE ACCELERATES WHEN LETTING OFF GAS, EVEN WHILE GOING UPHILL THE VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE. YOU CAN GO UP A STEEP HILL WITHOUT TOUCHING THE GAS. BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REPLACED, THE THROTTLE BODY, GAS PEDAL ASSEMBLY. THEY REINSTALLED THE ORIGINAL PARTS AND TOLD US THAT THIS WAS NORMAL. WE DROVE OTHER 2011 CHEVY SILVERADO'S WHICH DID NOT DO THE SAME THING. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT ALL THE 2011 CHEVY SILVERADO'S ACCELERATE ON THEIR OWN. #2. THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE FROM THE REAR WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMPS. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THIS IS NORMAL BACKLASH, AND DID NOT DO ANYTHING. *KB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STARTED WAS DEAD. A REBUILT STARTER WAS INSTALLED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STARTER HAD BEEN REPLACED APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 900.
THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR WILL NOT ADJUST OUTWARD FAR ENOUGH TO ELIMINATE A BLIND SPOT ON THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. 9/22/11 TOM BANNEN CHEVROLET IN MADISON TN ATTEMPTED TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE MIRROR, BUT THAT RESULTED IN NO IMPROVEMENT. 12/8/11 I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER AGAIN. [XXX], THE SERVICE WRITER, SAT IN MY TRUCK, OPERATED THE MIRROR AND CONFIRMED THAT THE MIRROR WOULD NOT ADJUST OUTWARD FAR ENOUGH TO ELIMINATE A BLIND SPOT. HE SAID THAT IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT RIGHT,' AND THEY WOULD CHECK IT OUT TO SEE WHAT REPAIR IS NEEDED. BUT WHEN I PICKED UP THE TRUCK, THEY SAID IT OPERATES LIKE ALL THEIR OTHER TRUCKS AND WOULD MAKE NO IMPROVEMENT. 12/10/11 I COMPLAINED TO GM AT 866-790-5600. 12/21/11 "DISTRICT SPECIALIST" JOHN (EXTENSION 42327) SAID GM WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND THAT THIS IS GM'S FINAL POSITION ON THIS PROBLEM. THIS DEFECT LEAVES A BLIND SPOT IN MY VIEW, AND THAT INCREASES THE HAZARD OF MOVING LEFT TO CHANGE LANES. I AM, OF COURSE, AM NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS SITUATION. IT PLACES ME AT GREATER RISK THAN SHOULD BE NECESSARY WHEN DRIVING MY TRUCK. PERHAPS OTHER SILVERADO OWNERS ARE SUFFERING THIS SAME INCREASED RISK. I OWN A CHEVROLET 2011 1/2 TON TRUCK AND I NOTICED DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT THAT THE RIGHT COLUMN BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE PASSANGER WINDOW CREATES A BLIND SPOT FOR THE DRIVER THAT ALMOST COST ME AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE A MOTOCYCLE COMING FROM MY RIGHT IN THE INTERSECTION ABOUT TO DO A LEFT TURN. *TT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE FRONT ROTORS WERE OUT OF ROUND AND TURNED DOWNWARD. THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE REPAIRED BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,976 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VIBRATION IS STILL PRESENT IN THE FRONT END. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE TIRES WERE WEARING PREMATURELY. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS HAD BEEN STUCK IN THE LOCK POSITION SINCE THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND WERE NON-OPERATIONAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 6,700.

AFTER CONTINUALLY DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JERKED FORWARD. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT NOTICED THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.

THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAILURES AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
SINCE ABOUT 16,000 MILES, MY REAR BREAKS HAVE BEEN SQUEAKING. THE CHEVY DEALER HAS CLEANED THE BREAKS TWICE NOW AND IT HAS RESOLED THE PROBLEM FOR A FEW MONTHS, BUT HAS ALWAYS RETURNED. EACH TIME THEY CLEANED THE REAR DRUM BREAKS, THEY STATED THERE WAS EXCESSIVE BREAK DUST. THERE CLEARLY IS AN ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL AND THE REAR DRUM BREAKS. *JS
WINDOWS FOG UP UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS ESPECIALLY IN SUMMER HUMID NIGHTS AND DAYS. SEEMS THERE IS MOISTURE IN HVAC UNIT. *TR
REAR AXLE HAS A GVWR OF 3950 LBS THE VEHICLE A 2PLUS 1 REAR SPRING PACK, 3 DIFFERENT SPRING SUPPLIERS RATE THIS SPRING PACK AT 1425L OR 1500 LBS EACH FOR A COMBINED RATE OF EITHER 2850 OR 3000 LBS PER PAIR. WHICH MAKES THE FACTORY RATING OF 3950LBS EITHER 1100 OR 950 LBS HIGHER DEPENDING ON THE SPRING SUPPLIER. CONSUMER STATES TRANSMISSION CLUNK AND A LEAKY (WATER) DRIVERS CABIN AND EXPRESSES DISCONTENT IN REGARDS TO GM *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES FOR THE TRANSMISSION NOISE. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED GM BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK AND FURNISHED HIM WITH A NEW VEHICLE. HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO HEAT IN THE VEHICLE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THE INLET HOSE WAS INSTALLED UPSIDE DOWN DURING MANUFACTURING. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RUST WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF BOTH FAILURES BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
