I HAD CLOSED ONE OF MY DOORS ON THE DRIVER SIDE WITH PRETTY STRONG FORCE (SLAM), AND THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES. THE SEATBELT PRE-TENSIONERS ALSO LOCKED UP. THE AIRBAG NEARLY MISSED STRIKING MY PASSENGER WHO WAS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN IT OCCURRED. *TR
I OWN A 2011 SILVERADO. IT HAS THE CRACKS IN THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AREA, AND ABOVE THE GAUGE CLUSTER. OF COURSE AFTER SEEING ALL THE OTHER CRACKED DASHES. IT REALLY MAKES ME UNHAPPY THAT THIS IS NOT ALREADY A RECALL OR TAKEN CARE OF. ONE DAY I GOT IN MY VEHICLE AND SAW BOTH CRACKS, AND IT HAPPENED 2 DAYS AFTER SOMEONE TOLD ME IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT CRACKS. I REALLY WOULD LIKE IT REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE SPARE TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE SPARE TIRE ROLLED INTO INCOMING TRAFFIC AND OTHER DRIVERS WERE FORCED TO SWERVE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. BACKED INTO HAY RAKE
ONCE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK IT IS SITTING UP AND AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE AND STARTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE LOWERS TO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE PULLS WHEN DRIVING AND CAUSES AN ADDITIONAL PULL ON THE ENGINE AND FUEL SYSTEM. *TR
TAKATA RECALL, THE WARNING SEAT BELT LIGHT COMES ON WHEN STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING ON STREET HIGHWAY AND RESETS, I AM AFRAID THIS WILL ACTIVATE. I INFORMED DEALERSHIP BUT WAS INFORMED THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE AND POSSIBLY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH AIR BAG ACTUATOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, FUEL LEAKED CONTINUOUSLY ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THEN TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE FEEDER FUEL LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER FUEL WAS DISPENSED INTO THE FUEL TANK TO THE FULL CAPACITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE AUTOMATIC BELT TENSIONER PULLEY IS IN THE PROCESS OF GOING OUT. THE PULLEY ITSELF IS SLOWLY SUFFERING FROM A HIGH PITCHED WHINING NOISE WHICH IS CAUSED BY BEARING FAILURE. WITH THE CURRENT MILEAGE THE PART IN QUESTION SHOULDN'T BY ANY MEANS BE FAILING, THE TENSIONER WORKS FINE BUT THE PULLEY WOBBLES A BIT TOO MUCH. IF THE PULLEY CONTINUES TO WOBBLE MORE AND FINALLY RESULTS IN CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IT CAN SHRED THE SERPENTINE BELT WHICH WILL RENDER THE VEHICLE USELESS OR EVEN BECOME A DANGER TO ANY AND ALL OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY IF IT FAILS ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THE BELT GOES OUT IT CAN BEND OTHER PULLEYS OR SHEAR OFF PULLEYS, BOLTS, OR EVEN BEND THE HARMONIC BALANCER (ENGINE VIBRATION DAMPENER) WHICH WOULD RESULT IN A BLOWN OR SEIZED UP ENGINE. I'LL ALSO ADD THAT THE BELT COULD CAUSE A FIRE IF IT GETS WEDGE BETWEEN OTHER SPINNING PULLEYS AT THE TIME OF THE PULLEY'S BEARINGS OVERHEATING AND THE PULLEY EITHER BREAKING OFF OR CAUSING THE BELT TO SHRED. *TR
CAR PULLED OUT FROM GAS STATION INTO PATH OF MY VEHICLE STRIKING IT IN LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL AND LEFT REAR WHEEL. MY TRUCK SPUN TO THE LEFT STRIKING A SEMI TRUCK TOTALED MY TRUCK HEAVY FRONT END DAMAGE. INJURY TO MY STEPSON WHO WAS THE DRIVER. AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED NOR DID SEAT BELTS KEEP HIM IN PLACE ALLOWING HIM TO HIT HIS HEAD ON THE ROOF OF THE TRUCK CAB
THE DASH SURROUNDING THE AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE CRACKED. DON'T KNOW HOW THIS WILL AFFECT THE OPERATION OF THE AIR BAG IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. *TR
TAKATA RECALL - I HAVE CALLED 5 TO 10 TIMES NOW TO LOCAL DEALERS AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE A REPLACEMENT AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN ONE WILL BE AVAILABLE.
MY VEHICLE WAS FORCED OFF THE ROAD BY ANOTHER VEHICLE CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO HIT A LIGHT POLE HEAD ON. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUFFERED INJURY. *TR
DRIVING ABOUT 60 MPH ABOUT 10 MILES INTO THE TRIP WHEN THE TRUCK LOST SPEED, THE ABS BRAKES DID A SLIGHT ON AND OFF PULSATING EVERY COUPLE OF SECONDS, THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND GIVING IT GAS THE ENGINE REVVED UP BUT WOULDN'T GO ANYWHERE. SPEED DROPPED DOWN TO 35 OR 40 MPH AND WOULDN'T GO ANY FASTER. THE DASH INDICATOR SHOWED MESSAGES STATING STABILITRAK TRACTION CONTROL TURNED OFF AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. IT JOLTED REAL HARD WHEN IT SHIFTS GEARS. WHEN I MASHED THE BRAKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKES TO HOLD THE TRUCK THERE. I PULLED INTO A STORE POPPED THE HOOD AND FINDING NOTHING I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND RESTARTED IT BUT NOTHING CHANGED AND THE ERROR MESSAGES WERE STILL BEING DISPLAYED. THE TRUCKS ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH. I HEADED HOME AND IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY POWER AND JOLTED HARD AS IT SHIFTED GEARS. I COUDLN'T GO BUT 35 OR 40 MPH ON THE LEVEL GROUND. IF I WENT UP A SLIGHT HILL THE TRUCK SLOWED DOWN MORE UNTIL I GOT PAST THE HILL. I GAVE IT GAS AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP BUT HAD NO POWER AND WOULDN'T GO 35 OR 40 MPH. I PARKED THE TRUCK IN THE GARAGE AND IN 10 MINUTES I WENT TO START IT TO GET THE ERROR MESSAGES AND IT STARTED UP FINE AND THE ENGINE WASN'T RUNNING ROUGH. I DROVE IT 1/2 MILE DOWN THE ROAD AND BACK AND IT RAN PERFECT. I GOOGLED THE ERROR MESSAGES AND FOUND ALOT OF COMPLAINTS AND COMMENTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON THE CHEVROLET FORUM WEBSITE. NO RECALL INFORMATION JUST ALOT OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND ALOT WORSE CASES THAT ALMOST CAUSED ACCIDENTS. IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE? I READ THAT I WILL PROBABLY HAVE THE ISSUE AGAIN BECAUSE AFTER IT SITS FOR 10 MIN IT PROBABLY WON'T HAVE A PROBLEM UNTIL A FEW MINUTES OR DAYS LATER. I CAN ONLY HOPE DOESN'T CAUSE ME TO HAVE A WRECK AND KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL COLLAPSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BALL JOINT AND RETAINER BAR WERE FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED AS DESTROYED. CRACKED DASH IN 2 PLACES /COLLISION AIR BAGS RECALL
2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE VEHICLE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE LETTER ADVISED CONSUMERS NOT TO TAKE THEIR VEHICLE TO DEALER, UNLESS THEY EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED HE MAY EXPERIENCE REDUCED ENGINE POWER, WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT.
FIRST I WENT TO OPEN MY FRONT PASSENGER DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THE CHROME DOOR HANDLE CAME OFF THE TRUCK IN MY HAND. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK LATER, THE DRIVER DOOR HANDLE ALSO CAME OFF IN MY HAND AS WELL. BOTH INSTANCES RENDERED THE DOOR INOPERABLE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FILLED WITH UREA SPECIAL FUEL FOR DIESEL TRUCKS. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 5 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY DECELERATED FROM 55 TO 5 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEATER IN THE UREA TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
I BOUGHT MY 2011 SILVERADO 1500 WITH 8,000 MILES ON IT FROM THE DEALERSHIP OCT 2012. WHILE UNDER A BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY MY DASH BUSTED AT THE AIR BAG. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER THE TRUCK HAD AROUND 16,000 - 18,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD THE DASH WAS MADE THAT WAY SO NO CLAIM WAS MADE. SINCE THEN MY DASH HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE AND WORSE. NOW THAT ITS NO LONGER UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY THEY ADMIT IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT MY COST! I'M AM SO FED UP WITH GM'S PRODUCT. I HAVE SPENT THE PAST 4 YEARS TRYING TO GET MY DASH REPLACED AT THEIR COST. ITS CLEARLY NOTHING I DID WRONG TO CAUSE IT. I HAVE FOUND HUNDREDS ON COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM.. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL LAWSUITS THAT'S BEEN TAKING OUT ON THEM FOR THIS ISSUE. "IF I GET IN A WRECK THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WILL SEND SHARP PLASTIC INTO MY PASSENGERS FACE.. MY FARTHER HAS A 2010 SILVERADO 1500 WITH 50,000 MILES ON IT AND HIS IS ALSO BUSTED THE SAME WAY AT THE AIR BAG. THIS IS A HUGE KNOW QUALITY / SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE IMMEDIATELY RECALLED AT GM'S COST. I PAID $28,000 FOR MY NEW TRUCK AND LESS THEN A YEAR ITS FALLING APART..
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE TIRES ROTATED, THE MECHANIC NOTICED A LEAK FROM THE REAR WHEEL CYLINDERS ON THE BRAKES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED ALL FOUR WHEEL CYLINDERS TO STOP THE LEAK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,597.
DASH CRACKED OVER AIR BAG.
TAKATA AIRBAG, STILL NO RESOLUTION FOR THIS BY GM. THE DASH ON THE PICK UP ALSO HAVE THE SAME CRACKS THAT THOUSANDS OF OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND ACROSS THE DRIVER SIDE AS WELL. I HAVE REPAIRED IT MULTIPLE TIMES FOR IT ONLY TO CRACK IN NEW PLACES. IT BEGAN CRACKING WITH ONLY 30,000 MILES ON IT.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS DISPLAYED AND THE MOTOR IS HESITATING. THIS ISSUE IS A SECOND OCCURRENCE DUE TO THE VALVE COVER LEAKING AND CAUSING THE SPARK PLUGS TO GO BAD. FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY AT APPROXIMATELY 29000 MILES AND NOW THE VEHICLE HAS 39000 MILES AND THE ISSUE HAS RECURRED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONTINUALLY RECURRING PROBLEM FOR 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRUCKS. *TR

TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS TO PASSING GEAR SUCH AS ENTERING A HIGHWAY ON RAMP AND STEPPING DOWN TO ENTER SLOWER TRAFFIC ENGINE REVS TO RED LINE ON TACH BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR LEAVING YOU HUNG OUT TO DRY IN TRAFFIC UNTIL YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT'S GOIN ON YOU HAVE FULLY LET UP FOR IT TO FIND A GEAR BY THIS TIME YOUR SPEED CAME DROP 10 MPH VERY DANGEROUS , HAD TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS TWICE BOTH SAID IT HAS NO PROBLEM ONE SAID IT WAS THE TORQUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AND IT WAS NORMAL.BUT IF I WANTED IT TO GO AWAY TAKE IT SOME WHERE AND HAVE THE PROGRAM WIPED FROM COMPUTER BUT WARRANTY WILL THEN BE VOID.ALSO TRUCK SLAMS INTO GEAR WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO GO AROUND A CORNER.WHEN STARTING VEHICLE IT JUMPS FORWARD SO BAD I AM AFRAID TO KEEP IT IN MY GARAGE. SPOKE TO TWO DIFFERENT CHEVY REPS BOTH ARE LIKE TALKING TO A WALL ,THEY ARE NOT EMPLOYED TO HELP YOU JUST TO RUN AROUND IN CIRCLES UNTIL YOU GIVE UP.RESEARCH ALL CHEVY PRODUCTS BEFORE BUYING. TAKATA RECALL CHEV HAS NOT DEALT WITH THE REMEDY ON REPLACING AIR BAGS. FORD HAD A SETTLEMENT AND OTHER DEALERS HAVE DEALT WITH THE REPLACEMENTS. I WANT CHEV TO FIX MY VEHICLE NOW. ITS BEEN THREE YEARS OF WAITING!
I HAVE A 2011 CHEVY SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB AND AFTER 37,000 MILES OF DRIVING MY TRUCK I NOTICE THREE CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD. ONE ON THE DRIVER SIDE AND TWO ON THE PASSENGER SIDE RIGHT ABOVE THE RECALLED AIR BAG. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH THE SAME MODEL AND HE TOLD ME THE SAME THING ABOUT HIS TRUCK. HE HAS TWO CRACKS IN THE DASH. I HAVE ASK THE DEALER ABOUT ANY RECALLS ON THE DASHBOARD FOR CRACKING AND THEY SAID THAT'S A NORMAL THING THAT HAPPENS ON TRUCKS. REALLY! I SPEND $28,000 ON A TRUCK AND NOW I AM TOLD IF I WANT MY DASH FIXED I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT! THIS IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY BAG. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THE PASSENGER BAG DEPLOYS AND PIECES OF DASHBOARD GO FLYING WITH THE FORCE OF THE AIR BAG OR IF THE CRACKS ITSELF DEFLATES THE AIR BAG. I HOPE A RECALL IS DONE SOON FOR THE DASHBOARDS!
THE TRUCK I PURCHASED HAS A MAX TOWING PACKAGE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SAFELY TOW 10,600# IN CREW CAB CONFIGURATION. I HAVE A 28' PACE DAYTONA TRAILER THAT WEIGHS UNDER 8,000# AS I TOW IT. AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE TRUCK HAS A VERY SEVERE SWAY ISSUE. IT IS FRIGHTENING TO DRIVE AS THE TRAILER STARTS SHIFTING THE REAR OF THE TRUCK BACK AND FORTH. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH THE TRUCK AS YET, BUT I FEEL THE SITUATION IS VERY DANGEROUS. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE IN MICHIGAN TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THIS ISSUE. THEY SAY THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION THAT CAN HELP SOLVE MY PROBLEM. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO BRING THE TRUCK AND TRAILER TO LONE STAR CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK. SEVERAL VISITS THERE AND TALKING TO SEVERAL SERVICE PEOPLE HAS YIELDED NO HELP. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK CAN'T PULL A TRAILER OF THAT PHYSICAL SIZE. ODDLY ENOUGH, THE 2012 MODEL TRUCK ADVERTISES A NEW SWAY CONTROL FEATURE. THIS 2013 BROCHURE EVER DEPICTS A SCENE OF THE TRAILER SWAYING AS MINE DOES, WITH A BOX TYPE TRAILER IN THE ADD. SINCE CHEVROLET CLAIMS IT HAS NO HISTORY OF THIS BEING AN ISSUE, I FELT THAT I SHOULD NOTIFY SOMEONE OF THIS UNSAFE SITUATION WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. THANKS FOR ALLOWING ME TO SHARE MY PROBLEM WITH SOMEONE WHO MIGHT RESEARCH THIS ISSUE AND TRY TO PREVENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
AT 36000 MILES THE ENGINE BURNS OIL. SO FAR AS OF 46000 MILES PISTONS BURNED HAVE BEEN REPLACED PVC FILTER AND VALVE WERE REPLACED ALONG WITH VALVE COVER. AT PRESENT 54000 MILES ENGINE STILL BURNS OIL. *TR
DASH HAS SEVERAL CRACKS THROUGH OUT, ABOVE THE GLOVE BOX AND NOW IT'S ABOVE THE RADIO. IT STARTED OUT WITH A SMALL CRACK ABOVE THE GLOVE BOX AND CONTINUING IN OTHER LOCATIONS. A COUPLE OF THE CRACKS HAPPEN WHILE THE TRUCK WAS PARKED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT AXLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN NUMBER WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE MAKING A TURN AT A LOW SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO MECHANICAL, ELECTRICAL AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A STEEP INCLINE, WITH THE TRUCK AND TRAILER LOADED, THE ENGINE'S RPM SUDDENLY WENT TO 5500 RPM, WITHOUT INCREASE IN ACCELERATION. HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE TO RELEASE THE CRUISE CONTROL, AND STRONGLY PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE ENGINE WOULD RETURN TO A NORMAL RPM.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE BUMPER WAS WORKING AS DESIGNED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT SHOULD GET AN AFTER MARKET BUMPER SINCE THE FACTORY BUMPER WAS BUILT TO SPECIFICATIONS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ALTER IT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BUMPER DID NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH AND TOWING ABILITY AS IT WAS ADVERTISED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PLANNED TO EXCHANGE THE BUMPER FOR A STURDY ONE. THE MANUFACTURER THEN STATED THE BUMPER MET REGULATIONS SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FIRST AND SECOND SOLENOIDS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,000.
WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC THE SILVERADO'S, ENGINE, POWER STEER AND POWER BRAKES SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY. AFTER THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED IN PARK AND THE TRUCK RESTARTED NORMALLY. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM OR CODE. THE SAME EVENT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER WHILE I WAS ON AN INTERSTATE DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH. THE I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP IN THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I THEN PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED NORMALLY. I BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH. *TR
JUST SECONDS AFTER HAVING COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WHILE RPMS INCREASE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO OVERCOME THE BRAKE PRESSURE AND TRUCK TO MOVE FORWARD ABRUPTLY. THIS CAUSED ME TO ROLL OUT INTO THE LANE OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND STRIKE A VEHICLE AS IT WAS PASSING. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THE SPARE TIRE CABLE WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CUT ONCE THE TIRE WAS ATTACHED AND THE CABLE WAS RETRACTED. THE TIRE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,115.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE LOST AIR RAPIDLY, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 42,000.

IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD EXHIBIT AN ABNORMAL INCREASE OF 2000 OR MORE WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. ON ONE OCCASION, THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A ROAD STUMP. FIVE PASSENGERS SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,100.
WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN ON A ROAD THAT HAS AN INCLINE, WHEN REMOVING MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE TO THE GAS PEDAL, THE TRUCK ROLLS BACKWARDS AND WILL NOT STOP AT ALL UNLESS THE BRAKE IS RE-APPLIED OR THE GAS PEDAL CAN BE PUSHED BEFORE THE VEHICLE ROLLS TOO FAR BACK. TALKED TO DEALER AND HAD VEHICLE IN TO BE CHECKED AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DESIGNED THAT WAY TO ELIMINATE STRESS ON THE TRANSMISSION AND IT WAS MEANT TO FREE ROLL FOR A SHORT DISTANCE. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AS VEHICLE COULD ROLL BACKWARDS INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, PERSON, OR OBJECT. ON A VERY STEEP INCLINE, THE VEHICLE KEPT ON ROLLING BACKWARD FOR SEVERAL FEET AND UNLESS I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE OR GAS IT WILL CONTINUING TO ROLL BACKWARDS. *TR
SPEED CONTROL (CRUISE) DOES NOT HOLD. WHILE GOING DOWN AN INCLINE FROM THE MOUNTAINS, CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET FOR 65 MPH, AND THE VEHICLE INCREASED SPEED TO 85+ MPG BEFORE APPLYING BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND TOOK VEHICLE TO BE CHECKED IN REGARDS TO THIS INCIDENT, AND THEY STATED THAT DUE TO THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, NEW EMISSION STANDARDS THAT TRANSMISSION WAS MADE NOT TO HOLD SO AS NOT TO INCREASE CARBON FOOTPRINT. THIS CAUSES A VERY UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN DRIVING WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED. *TR
TAKATA RECALL. AIRBAGS ARE DEFECTIVE AND COULD CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY IF DEPLOYED. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A REMEDY FOR THIS DEFECT AND DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE UNTIL FURTHER GUIDANCE IS RECEIVED FROM GM.
I PURCHASED VEHICLE USE, WITH 384 MILES. VEHICLE TRANSMISSION BECAME VERY LOUD, WHINING, GROWLING, MAKING CLUNKING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING; DOWNSHIFTING AT TIMES PRODUCED RUNAWAY SHIFTING, CLUNKING AND SLIPPING. TOOK IT TO ONE CHEV. DEALER AND SERVICE WRITER SAID HE HAD A CHEV P.U. JUST LIKE MINE AND IT DIDN'T MAKE THOSE NOISES. WENT BACK AGAIN AND DEALER FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT APPLIED TO MY TRANSMISSION. THEY ORDERED PARTS, INSTALLED THEM, BUT NO CHANGE. WENT BACK AGAIN AND THE SERVICE SHOP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO FOR MY P.U. I WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED FRONT AND REAR PLANETARY GEARS. PARTS WERE ORDERED AND INSTALLED, AGAIN NO CHANGE. WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY DROVE MY P.U. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY P.U. ! I SPOKE WITH A DISTRICT SPECIALIST AT G.M. AND SHE SAID SHE WOULD CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP! IT IS NOW JUNE 5, 2012 AND I AGAIN CALLED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE AND THEY SAID THE WOMAN WHO HAD MY CASE NO LONGER WORKS IN THAT DEPARTMENT AND THEY WOULD ASSIGN ANOTHER SPECIALIST. SHE/HE WOULD CALL ME TODAY, MAYBE TOMORROW. I TOLD THEM ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND I WANTED ANOTHER VEHICLE! *TR

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT DUE TO FEDERAL REGULATIONS, THE HEAD REST COULD NOT BE REMOVED BUT THE CONTACT COULD HAVE THE HEAD REST MODIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,138.
I WAS TRAVELING ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY AND APPROACHING A SLOW MOVING TRUCK IN THE RIGHT LANE AHEAD OF ME. THERE WAS ANOTHER TRUCK BEHIND ME IN MY LANE. I MOVED TO THE LEFT LANE TO PASS THE SLOW TRUCK. JUST AFTER I BEGAN THE PASS MY PICKUP SLOWED QUICKLY AND BEGAN FLASHING ERROR MESSAGES: STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED, ENGINE POWER REDUCED & SERVICE STABILITRAK. THE TRUCK BEHIND ME HAD MOVED UP CLOSE AND FOLLOWED ME AROUND THE SLOW MOVING TRUCK. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND CONTINUED SLOWING QUICKLY. I HAD JUST ENOUGH ROOM TO SWERVE IN BEHIND THE SLOW TRUCK AS MY SPEED FELL BELOW ITS SPEED. THE TRUCK BEHIND ME NARROWLY AVOIDED A REAR IMPACT WITH MY TRUCK, WHICH, I BELIEVE, WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. I PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND TRIED TO SPEED UP. ABOUT 40 MPH WAS ALL MY TRUCK WOULD DO. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT THE MANUAL. IT SAID TO RESET THE STABILITRAK, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR 30 SECONDS. I DID THAT AND THE TRUCK SEEMED TO FUNCTIONED NORMALLY, AT LEAST AS FAR AS ENGINE POWER. I STILL HAD TRACTION CONTROL & STABILITRAK ERROR MESSAGES AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I WAS ABLE TO RETURN 40 MILES TO MY HOME TOWN WITH NO FURTHER INCIDENTS. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK INTO THE CHEVY DEALER ON THE 30TH. THE SERVICE REP RECOGNIZED MY DESCRIPTION IMMEDIATELY AS A "THROTTLE SENSOR" FAILURE. IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER INCIDENTS. MY CONCERNS ARE DUAL: FIRST, ONLY LUCK AND YEARS OF EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATION TRAINING ENABLED ME TO AVOID BEING HIT FROM BEHIND BY THE FOLLOWING TRUCK WHEN MY TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING LOST POWER. AN IMPACT WOULD HAVE LIKELY BE LIFE THREATENING CONSIDERING THE SPEED AND PROXIMITY OF TWO TRUCKS. SECOND, SUBSEQUENTLY, I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE INTERNET REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE GOING BACK SEVERAL MODEL YEARS AND MY SERVICE PAPER WORK INDICATES A GM SERVICE BULLETIN FOR IT EXISTS. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS SEVERAL DEFECTS THAT GM CLAIMS AS NORMAL. 1. TRUCK RANDOMLY LURCHES FORWARD WHEN STARTED IN PARK. GM SAYS THIS IS NORMAL MAKE SURE YOU APPLY PARKING BRAKE WHEN PARKING. 2. DRIVE TRAIN CLUNKS WHEN DECELERATING INTO 10-20MPH RANGE AND ACCELERATING AGAIN. GM SAYS THIS IS NORMAL DUE TO TOLERANCES AND ACCELERATED IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES. 3. VEHICLE DRAIN TRAIN RANDOMLY MAKES A BANG OR CLUNK NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. GM CLAIMS THIS IS ALSO NORMAL. I HAVE PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW IN NOVEMBER 2011 AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FIVE TIMES. EACH TIME DEALER CHECKS REPAIR FOR DEFECT AND GM SENDS BACK BULLETIN SAYING NO REPAIR CONDITION NORMAL. DEALER SAYS A HANDFUL OF TRUCKS HAVE COME BACK WITH THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM. I CAN NOT BELIEVE GM ACCEPTS THIS DEFECT AS NORMAL. *JS
THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT TO MY VEHICLE I PURCHASED A NEW VEHICLE FROM A COMPANY AND I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS OUT OF THE VEHICLE SINCE I MADE THE PURCHASE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE TIRES, THEN REPLACED ONE OF THE RIMS BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXIST THEY ALSO DID A FRONT END ALIGNMENT, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO NEXT TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM, THERE IS A SHAKING OR VIBRATION IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS DRIVEN. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH GM AND STILL THE MATTER HASN'T BEEN RESOLVED. *TR
