NI GOT A NOTICE ABOUT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG BEING DEFECTIVE AND JIM BARNARD CHEVROLET CAN'T HELP ME IN THE REPLACEMENT OF THE AIR BAG INFLATOR??? SO, HOW MANY YEARS WILL I HAVE TO WAIT TIL IT'S CORRECTED. BEING A ROAD SAFETY HAZARD, IF MY PASSENGER IS SERIOUSLY HURT, DUE TO GM NOT REPAIRING THE PROBLEM. THEN I CAN SUE GM FOR BIG BUCKS!! NO FOLLOW-UP ON RESOLUTION FOR DEFECTIVE AIR BAG
The driver's side interior door handle completely broke off. It appears that this is an ongoing issue with 2011 GMC Silverado and other GMC vehicles.
GM RECALL #2049151 (NHTSA #16V381) WAS ISSUED MAY 27, 2016, OVER 4 YEARS AGO. THE STATUS OF THE RECALL HAS REMAINED "INCOMPLETE. REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE" FOR YEARS WHILE I DRIVE AROUND IN A VEHICLE THAT THE NHTSA HAS DEEMED UNSAFE, PLACING ME AND MY FAMILY IN DANGER. THE US GOVERNMENT, THROUGH MUST ORDER GM TO COMPLY WITH REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT OF THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES IMMEDIATELY AND ENSURE COMPLIANCE BY SIGNIFICANT AND ON-GOING FINES FOR EACH VEHICLE NOT REMEDIATED UNTIL COMPLIANCE.

ALL 4 DOORS ARE RUSTING ON THE BOTTOM EDGE (ROUND SEAM). CRACKS ON DASH ON PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE STARTING FROM AIR BAG AND CRACKING OUTWARD. OIL PRESSURE RUNS LOW AND USES 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1500 - 2000 MILES
PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS RECALLED IN 2015, DEALER HAS YET TO HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX IT. I SPOKE WITH SANDY SANSING CHEVROLET TODAY AND THEY SAID THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS IN TO REPAIR THIS RECALL.

THESE VEHICLES HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THE CAM. I'M ON MY SECOND 5.3 ENGINE AND I'M BEING TOLD BY A GM CERTIFIED TECH THAT IT'S NORMAL FOR THESE ENGINES TO HAVE CAM ISSUES AFTER 100K.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO LEGACY MOTOR COMPANY (820 SW 21ST STREET, TOPEKA, KS 66604, (785) 438-2690) WHO STATED THAT THE CYLINDER #1 AND #7 FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY UNTIL THE ENTIRE ENGINE FAILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
TRAVELING DOWN HIGHWAY AT 60MPH THE TRACSION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED BLINKING FOLLOWED BY THE TRUCK STARTING TO MISS HARD. GOT TO FRIENDS HOUSE CHANGED #1 SPARK PLUG ALL BETTER NOW AT LEAST FOR 1,000 MILES THEN WILL HAVE TO CHANGE IT AGAIN. WENT THROUGH THIS WITH THE LAST ONE WE TRADED FOR THIS ONE. THEN IT DEVELOPED AN OIL LEAK THAT'S WHEN WE TRADED IT.
CRACKED DASH WHILE DRIVING ON HWY 85 RUST IS FORMING ALL UNDER THE TRUCK AS WELL AS AROUND THE DOORS AND BED
THE DASH IS CRACKING AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AND COULD POSSIBLY PRESENT A HAZARD IF AN ACCIDENT WOULD OCCUR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN GARAGED. THE TRUCK IS MOSTLY USED FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE VEHICLE IS ALSO NOT DRIVEN DAILY AND HAS 84,000 MILES ON IT AND IS 9 YEARS OLD. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED IN SEPTEMBER 2020.
ON FRIDAY (AUGUST 21, 2020), WE HAD AN APPOINTMENT AT A SHOP TO HAVE BRAKES REPLACED AND TIRE ROTATION DONE. THE MECHANIC HAD CALLED AND ASKED ME TO COME TO THE SHOP TO COME LOOK AT THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK. UPON ARRIVING, HE SHOWED ME THE FRAME. IT IS RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH FROM IN FRONT OF THE REAR TIRES AND ALL THE WAY BACK. THE REST OF THE FRAME IS IN GOOD CONDITION, HOWEVER.. THE MECHANIC AT THIS POINT WOULD NOT WORK ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE CONDITION AND ITS COMPROMISED SAFETY. AS OF RIGHT NOW, THE VEHICLE CAN'T BE DRIVEN DUE TO SAFETY ISSUES. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD AND HAS BEEN DRIVEN LESS THAN 20,000 MILES IN THE 3 YEARS WE HAVE HAD IT. IT IS MAINLY DRIVEN TO WORK WHICH IS LESS THAN 2 MILES AWAY. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR REGULAR ROUTINE CARE ALWAYS. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IN 2017 BY A GM CERTIFIED DEALER WITH ONLY 55,XXX MILES. IT CURRENTLY HAS 74,XXX MILES AND IS NOW BASICALLY JUNK DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE FRAME!!
THE DASH ON MY CHEVY SILVERADO 2011 IS CRACKING IN DIFFERENT PLACES.
GM WAS GIVEN TO 2017 ON THIS AIR BAG PROBLEM IT , WENT WILL THEY BE REQUIRE TO FIX IT IS NOW 2020. THE RECALL HAS NOT BE COMPLETED. *TR
This is the 3rd year in a row that i have to have the frame welded due to corrosion. I finally did an internet search and found this to be a severe problem for owners of Chevy Silverados. In my opinion, a truck frame should last longer than 100K miles. Why did the U.S. hold Toyota accountable when their truck frames rotted out a few years ago, but won't hold GM to the same standard? The dealership said there is nothing they can do about it, i'm hoping out government can. There are too many of these trucks driving around with frames on the verge of cracking or rear shocks falling off. Thank you

THE DASH IS CRACKING AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND IS ALWAYS PROTECTED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEN DAILY & ONLY HAS 67K MILES ON IT THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED ON 5/9/2020. GM DOES NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 138,000.

MY TRUCK IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND IS PARKED IN OUR GARAGE OR WORKS COVERED GARAGE 90% OF THE TIME. SO WAY HAS THE DASH CRACKED EVERYWHERE? I SEE ON LINE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND HAS BEEN BLAMED ON LEAVING IN THE SUN BUT MY TRUCK ISN'T IN THAT CATEGORY. I WOULD SEND PICTURES IF I THOUGHT SOMEONE WOULD CARE. THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT FILED HOWEVER THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT. THE FIRE CAUSED THE SIDING TO AN ADJACENT HOUSE TO MELT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT LOT. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DEEMED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
CONTINUE TO GET THE 'CHECK AIR BAG' MESSAGE WHEN PRESSING BRAKE PEDAL, HEAR A SOUND COMING FROM THE ROD THAT TIES INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER CONTINUE TO GET THE 'TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF' MESSAGE.

MY DASHBOARD CRACKING
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, BURNS 2 QUARTS OF OIL PER 1000 MILES. MULTIPLE VALVE LIFTERS HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO DAMAGE CAUSE BY LOW OIL. HAD LIFTERS REPLACED LAST SUMMER. FAULTY OIL MONITOR DESIGN, DOESN'T INDICATE OIL IS LOW. THIS HAPPENS DURING NORMAL USE OF VEHICLE. ONGOING ISSUE.
I HAVE HAD AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IN MY TRUCK. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS LEAVING MY HOUSE AND AS SOON AS I GOT A FEW HOUSES DOWN THE ROAD MY DOOR LOCKS STARTED UNLOCKING AND LOCKING THEMSELVES OVER AND OVER AND THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE WAS ALL OVER THE PLACE ALONG WITH THE RPM GAUGE AND THE ROAD UP WOULD TURN OFF AND ON AND THE BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP AND THEN RELEASE AND IT DID THIS UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF. ONCE THE TRUCK WAS OFF IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. I HAD TAKEN THE BATTERY OUT TO BE TESTED AND IT WAS FINE. THE ALTERNATOR WAS FINE AND AS FAR AS I COULD SEE THE NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE CABLES FROM THE BATTERY WERE CLEAN TOO. I'VE TRACED THE GROUND AND IT DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE IN BAD SHAPE EITHER. WELL AFTER I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK TO MY HOUSE IT SAT FOR A FEW DAYS AND AFTER A COUPLE DAYS IT RANDOMLY STARTED BACK UP. TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEM EVERYTHING IS GOOD AND THEY COULDN'T RECREATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT COULD BE THE AFTERMARKET HEAD UNIT. WELL ONCE I GOT MY TRUCK BACK THE HEAD UNIT NO LONGER WORKS OR GETS POWER? WELL NOW A MONTH LATER SAME PROBLEM AND THE TRUCK IS TOTALLY DEAD BUT BATTERY AND ETC IS FINE.
MY DASH IS CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES AND COMPLETELY BROKEN APART IN SOME SPOTS. I HAVE MANAGED TO INSTALL A DASH COVER BUT I FEEL WITH THIS BEING SUCH A COMMON ISSUE AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
WAS DRIVING IN MOTION STRAIGHT DURING ICY CONDITIONS ON FREEWAY AND TRUCK SLID OUT OF CONTROL AND I DROVE THROUGH DITCH NEVER STOPPED ONCE AND SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND SEAT BELTS ALL FROZE UP AND CEILING FABRIC WAS RUINED AND TORN FROM DEPLOYED AIRBAGS. I NEVER HIT ANYTHING AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE RIGHT BACK ONTO HIGHWAY.
STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM HAVE WENT OFF SEVERAL TIMES IN THE COURSE OF THE LAST MONTH. THE CAR GOES TO ROUGH IDLE AND TRANSMISSION KICKING BACK REALLY BAD. EVERY TIME THE MECHANIC HA CHECKED, AT LEAST THREE, HE HAD FOUND NOTHING WRONG. I THINK THIS SOMETHING RELATED WITH SOFTWARE. LOOKING INTO INTERNET, SEEMS TO BE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AFFECTED WITH THIS PROBLEM.
OIL ENGINE CONSUMPTION ABOUT EVERY 1200 MILES
1 OWNER. NEVER DRIVEN ON SALTED ROADS(SOUTH LOUISIANA).LIVE 100 MILES FROM COASTLINE,NOT IN A SALTWATER ENVIRONMENT. OR DRIVEN IN WATER OTHER THAN RAIN. CRUISE CONTROL DROPPING OUT, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING WHEN SUPPOSED TO. TRACTION CONTROL DROPPING OUT, SERVICE MESSAGES CYCLING IN AND OUT--TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITRAC , ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, RED BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. SPEEDOMETER GOING CRAZY. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO GM DEALER FOR INSPECTION/REPAIR. CAUSE- INTERNAL FAILURE OF ECBM-ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE, DUE TO CORROSION IN THE CONNECTOR DUE TO WATER INTRUSION. HAD TO REPLACE THE MODULE, AND THE VEHICLE CHASSIS WIRING HARNESS. TOTAL REPAIR WAS $1,830.39 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. THE DEALER REPORTED TO ME THAT THE DESIGN/INSTALLATION LOCATION OF THIS MODULE IS FLAWED, AND A FAULTY DESIGN ALLOWED MOISTURE TO GET INTO THE MODULE THRU THE CONNECTOR.WHICH ALSO RESULTED IN THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTIONS INTO THE ECBM ALSO BECOMING CORRODED.. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WHEN TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT CALLED TITUS-WILL CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC (2425 CARRIAGE LOOP SW, OLYMPIA, WA 98502, (360) 464-4251) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
IN JUNE OF 2019 MY VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT INTO BEGNAL MOTORS IN KINGSTON NY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. THERE WAS ALSO A WARNING FOR THE STABILTRAX SYSTEM AND LOW OIL PRESSURE. I BROUGHT IT TO BEGNAL MOTORS BECAUSE THAT IS WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THIS POINT. THEY BEING A DODGE DEALER THEN SENT THE TRUCK OVER TO ROMEO CHEVY WHO DIAGNOSED IT AS AN ENGINE MISFIRE. THEY HAD THE TRUCK FOR TWO MONTHS FOR THE REPAIR WHICH THE WARRANTY COVERED. I GOT THE TRUCK BACK AND SOON AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. AT THIS POINT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. IT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC ABSOLUTELY AUTO IN NEW PALTZ NY. THEY SEND A CODE FOR THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR AND THE O2 SENSOR WHERE SHOWING UP. THEY REPLACED BOTH SENSORS. AFTER THE WORK WAS DONE THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR STILL WOULDN'T CLEAR AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THESE SENSORS ARE KNOWN TO HAVE PROBLEMS ON THE SILVERADO. HE THEN RECHECKED HE'S WORK TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS A NEW SCREEN ON THE SENSOR AND THERE WAS. THE CODE(P0521 I BELIEVE)STILL WOULDN'T CLEAR. HE THEN REFERRED ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO ROMEO CHEVY BECAUSE THEY HAD DONE ALL THE WORK ON IT PREVIOUSLY. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK BACK TO ROMEO AND THEY DID A COMPLETE DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND GOT NO ANSWERS. THEY THEN DID ANTHER OIL CHANGE AND AN OIL PRESSURE TEST WITH NO RESULT ON CLEARING THE OIL PRESSURE CODE. ROMEO CHEVY HAS AT THIS POINT HAD MY TRUCK FOR ANOTHER THREE MONTHS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY NOW SAY I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND THAT THE OIL PRESSURE ISSUES CANNOT BE FIXED. THEIR SERVICE REP TOLD ME THEY HAD ANOTHER SILVERADO RECENTLY WITH SIMILAR ISSUES AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IN THAT VEHICLE. I WOULD APPRECIATE SOME HELP IN THIS MATTER THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 105000 MILES AND I AM BEING TOLD IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF OIL PRESSURE. *TR
TAKATA FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATORS ARE DEFECTIVE AND NO FIX YET. IT IS A 2011 SILVERADO.I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT SO AIRBAG HAS NOT BEEN DEPLOYED.
THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLAMP WIRING IS FAULTY. I HAVE CONTINUALLY REPLACED HEADLAMPS, ONLY TO HAVE THEM NEED REPLACING IN A MONTH OR TWO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 EQUIPPED WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER SR-A TIRES, SIZE: P265/65/R18 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND RUMBLE. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WITH A SPARE TIRE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE MOLDING AROUND THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL WELL WAS DAMAGED. THE TIRE WAS THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
