vehicle has extreme rust rot to both frame rails and cross member near the gas tank. vehicle has 88000 miles
Dash Board of my vehicle has cracked around the area of my air bag. Worried that my air bag will not work properly if ever in an accident. No dash board should crack! Either the material's used when made were not as durable as they should be. Truck has been maintained in excellent condition since it was bought from dealership. No inspection, no safety lights on, no warning lights on. As being the original owner and seeing this worries me and my safety. NO DASHBOARD SHOULD NEVER CRACK/SPLIT.
Crash Impact Sensor in the drivers side front door has lost communication with the vehicle's airbag computer. Vehicle information display reports the fault and illuminates the red dashboard airbag light. This condition caused by wire harness / conductor fatigue between drivers side door and vehicle body. Observed that if driver's side door moved to certain positions while open the fault would clear. Eventually these wires in the door harness failed due to normal open / close cycles with the door upon entry / exit and now have completely failed so that the dashboard airbag lamp stays illuminated at all times. I have a 2010 Toyota Venza that has a recall on the same type of issue. Why is GM not recalling vehicles for this issue? My dealer has acknowledged that they have seen this issue, but no recall has been issued so they are not able to address it as such.
Chevy refuses to replace the recalled Takata airbags currently under recall without doing a “full vehicle inspection” and providing us with a “list of repairs that must be made” before the airbag can be ordered or replaced. Note: The is nothing wrong with our truck. They say this is their standard operating procedure for this recall and it requires two full day appointments: one for the inspection and one for the recall repair. They refuse to order the replacement airbag until the inspection has been completed and any repairs Chevy deems “necessary” are complete. This seems to me to be extortion, i.e. we have to keep a defective airbag or comply with their inspection and any repair/payment for anything they deem “necessary.”

The contact was concerned that the air bag might deploy due to the crack. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that he was responsible for the cost to replace the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that due to the age and mileage of the vehicle; the manufacturer was not responsible for the damage to the dashboard. The contact had also signed a waiver prior to the recall repair. The failure mileage was 101,194.
The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle the air bag warning indicator light illuminated The contact called OnStar who completed diagnostic testing. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 126,625.
Electric power steering motor failed while driving. The failure happened at such a time that it did not cause loss of control or a collision. The repair has yet to be completed at a local GM dealer due to awaiting parts. The failure of the electric power steering motor while driving the vehicle poses a massive safety risk to occupants of the vehicle and others due to there not being an apparent fail safe when the part failed, the steering wheel was completely locked in position and was not able to be turned. The local GM dealer reproduced the problem and diagnosed the electric power steering motor as the culprit and determined that the entire steering rack must be replaced due to the electric motor being a non-serviceable part. To my knowledge the defective part is still in the vehicle awaiting replacement at the dealer. There were no warning signs of a steering problem prior to the steering wheel being unusable and the dash displaying “service power steering” message.

While the mechanic was inspecting the vehicle, the contact was informed that while performing the recall repair on the passenger’s side frontal air bag, there could be potential damages to the dashboard that the dealer would not be responsible for repairing, replacing, or reimbursing the contact for any damages. The contact felt that was not right and did not want the recall repair performed if neither the dealer nor the manufacturer would not repair nor reimburse the contact for damages made to the dashboard. MOVING ON HIGHWAY 60MPH AND VEHICLE SHUT DOWN WITH NO WARNING. VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN TO SEVERAL LOCATIONS PREVIOUSLY AND SHOWED NO DIFFICULTIES IN STARTING OR UNUSUAL SYMPTOMS WHILE RUNNING. AAA TOWING SERVICE GOT TRUCK TO MY HOME. WILL NOT CRANK OR START. IT WOULD NOT TAKE A JUMP FROM AAA TOWING BEFORE THEY LOADED IT ONTO THEIR TRUCK. INCIDENT OCCURED ON 04/08/2021 ON U.S. HWY 98 NORTH, LAKELAND, FL.33810. FORTUNATELY NO TRAFFIC WAS BEHIND ME AT THE TIME. VEHICLE SITS IN MY DRIVEWAY UNREPAIRED. 89,775 MILES ON ODOMETER.

THE DASHBOARD ON MY 2012 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 IS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. THE CRACK NEXT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG HAS BEEN THERE SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BUT THE CRACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DASHBOARD JUST APPEARED FROM NORMAL CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. I AM CONCERNED IT COULD BE A PROBLEM IF I AM INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.

I have received a recall letter from General Motors regarding recall # N212328800, NHTSA campaign ID number 21V054. The letter was dated last February of 2021 and received shortly thereafter. The letter specifically states that I am to receive a second letter advising when the parts are available and requesting that I take my vehicle to a Chevrolet dealer. As of today, January 17, 2022, I have not received any such letter. I am writing to advise you of GMs totally unacceptable response to this instance of the Takata airbag recall. I have checked with Chevrolet dealers in my area and am being told that I can come to their lot and they will order the parts and THEN call me when they are ready to do the work. This response is contrary to the way the letter states that the recall will be handled and is confusing to customers. Please investigate and get GM back on track. This is in regards to: Manufacturer Recall NumberN212328800 NHTSA Recall Number21V054 GM's handling of this is absolutely unacceptable. I have been waiting for parts for over a year. GM's statement is "just don't drive it" if I have a concern about me or someone dying from their defective part. For over a year this is [XXX] to put it bluntly. I just got a letter stating that parts were now available, I have called immediately and was told sorry, there aren't actually parts available now. No ETA. GM should be financially compensating me for giving me no other option to drive an unsafe vehicle for over a year and who knows how much longer. I don't have the financial means to 'just not drive my truck for over a year', or to 'go buy/lease another vehicle for this duration'. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT DID NOT SUSTAIN INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO YOUNG VW MAZDA 191 COMMERCE PARK DR, EASTON, PA 18045 (610) 991-9100 WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, HOWEVER, UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE FRONT BUMPER. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V827000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
MY PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL N202324210 BY PRIORITY CHEVROLET OF CHESAPEAKE VA. I WAS REQUIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP TO SIGN ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THE GM OR THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DASHBOARD CRACKING AS PART OF THE REPAIR. MY TRUCK IS LOW MILEAGE AND IN GREAT CONDITION SO I EXPECTED NO PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, THE DEALERSHIP TECHNICIAN DID CRACK MY DASHBOARD AND PREDICTABLY THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO TAKE ANY ACTION. I THINK IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE MANUFACTURER AND THEIR AUTHORIZED SERVICE DEPARTMENTS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DAMAGE CUSTOMER VEHICLES DURING RECALL REPAIRS. ALSO, WHILE MY CRACKS ARE FAIRLY SMALL, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT INVISIBLE DAMAGE MIGHT HAVE OCCURRED. HOW CAN I BE CONFIDENT THAT THE RECALL REPAIR DID NOT CREATE MISSILE HAZARDS? IT IS COMMON TO VIEW THE DASHBOARD AS MERELY DECORATIVE BUT I AM NOW FORCED TO CONSIDER WHAT NEW HAZARDS ARE PRESENTED BY THE DASHBOARD, BOTH FROM UNSECURED MATERIAL IN A CRASH AND MISSILE HAZARDS IN THE AREA OF THE AIRBAG, THAT WERE DIRECTLY CAUSED BY A GOVERNMENT ORDERED RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT NHTSA SHOULD ORDER REPAIR OF ALL MOUNTING EQUIPMENT AND DASHBOARD COMPONENTS AS PART OF THIS AND FUTURE AIR BAG RECALLS. THANK YOU.
12/15/2020 - NOTICED 'SERVICE AIR BAG' WARNING IN MORNING AS I PULLED INTO PARKING FOR WORK. WHEN LEAVING FOR LUNCH NO WARNING ON - AS I PULLED OUT OF PARKING WARNING APPEARED AGAIN - AS I LEANED FORWARD TO READ - LOUD 'BANG' AND WAS PULLED BACK INTO SEAT BY HARD RETRACTION OF SEATBELT. FOLLOWED BY SMELL OF BURNING. PARKED CAR, STRUGGLED TO GET OUT OF SEATBELT - LOOKED AROUND FOR DAMAGE - NOTHING - ONLY SEATBELTS STUCK RETRACTED. DROVE HOME CAREFULLY - PLUGGED IN OBD 2 READER - FOUR CODES; B0015-04, B0022-00, B0052-04, B101D-00. FIRST TWO INDICATE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER DEPLOYED, THIRD IS DEPLOYMENT COMMAND, FINAL IS ECU HARDWARE. TOOK TO ASE SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE CONTROL UNIT INDICATED A COLLISION - THERE WAS NO COLLISION - AND BELTS WERE DEPLOYED. ASKED WHAT CAUSED THIS AND RESPONSE WAS COMPUTER ERROR....I AM JUST THANKFUL I WAS MOVING AT 5 MPH VICE 65 ON THE HIGHWAY. GONNA COST $2500 TO FIX REPLACING SEATBELTS AND SRS CONTROL UNIT, AND A FEW DAY TO GET OVER A BRUISED SHOULDER
4.3L V6 WT 2012 CHEVY 1500 4WD VEHICLE DRIVES FINE, GOOD TEMPERATURES AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING THE VEHICLE SHOWS A WARNING MESSAGE THAT THE ENGINE IS TOO HOT AND THAT THE A/C WAS FORCED OFF BY THE TRUCKS COMPUTER SYSTEM AND SENDS THE TEMP GAUGE TO 160 AND WILL NOT MOVE. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURER INSTALLED THERMOSTAT THAT IF NOT DEALT WITH IMMEDIATELY SEND THE COOLING FANS AND RADIATOR FAN(S)(AS MINE HAS A OEM FROM THE DEALER AUXILLARY TRANSMISSION COOLER AT FULL SPEEDS. THE RISK OF THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRUCK AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AS IT CAN CAUSE THE FANS AND COOLANT TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLES AND ALSO NOT LET AN ACCURATE READOUT OF ENGINE TEMPS TO LET THEM KNOW OF ACTUAL ISSUES PRESENT. CODE IS CODE P01028 THAT GETS STORED BUT THE ISSUE IS IN THE THERMOSTATS THAT THE THRESHOLD FOR AN ENGINE THAT DOESN'T REACH IT'S CUTOFF VALUE SHUTS IT DOWN.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS TURNED ON PLUS THE LOCKS STARTED UNLOCKING AND LOCKING AND THE TRUCK TURNED OFF.

THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY TO 30 MPH AND FAILED TO EXCEED 30 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND LUNGED FORWARD WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS SLOWLY DRIVEN TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE MAY BE RELATED TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OR THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR. THE DEALER STEVE SMITH COUNTRY (6372 W SUNSET SPRINGDALE, AR 72762, (479)361-4654 STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL BUT ACKNOWLEDGED OTHER MODELS HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AFTER NOTICING THE DASH HAS A CRACK ON PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG . THE CRACK JUST APPEARED ONE DAY AFTER CLEANING THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSORS AND NOW THE LIFTER DROPPED AND DAMAGED CAM, SIMMONS ROCKWELL SAYS I NEED A NEW MOTOR. IT HAS 143,000 MILES ON IT
DASH IS CRACKED WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED AND IN THE DRIVER'S LINE OF SIGHT.
TTHIS VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN 3 SEPARATE ACCIDENTS, 1ST ANOTHER DRIVER PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK CAUSING THE ACCIDENT; 2ND A DRIVER FELL ASLEEP WITH HIS FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR AND REAR ENDED ME AT ABOUT 90 MPH; 3RD AN OUT STATE DRIVER REAR ENDED MY SON'S CAR WHICH WAS FORCED INTO THE REAR OF MY TRUCK. THE 3 ACCIDENTS WERE SEVERE ENOUGH THAT THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOME TYPE OF AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT BUT THERE WAS NOT. I NOTIFIED GM IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE 1ST ACCIDENT ABOUT THE FAILURE OF THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. I SHOULD MENTIONED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT BROKE DUE THE HARSHNESS OF THE ACCIDENT. ALL THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL YEARS AGO BUT GM NEVER ANSWERED ME NOR TOOK ANY ACTION TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE OF THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY. TODAY, 4 MARCH, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE BECAUSE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS TAKATA HAS ADMITTED THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE BAGS, EXCEPT THEY SAY IT IS ONLY THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH I DIDN'T EVEN THINK I HAD AIR BAGS BECAUSE THEY NEVER WORKED. THE ID NUMBER FOR THIS RECALL IS 21V051. I AM HOPEFUL THAT EVEN THOUGH THESE ACCIDENTS TOOK PLACE YEARS AGO, I DON'T HAVE ACTUAL DATES BECAUSE I DIDN'T THEY WERE IMPORTANT, THAT YOU, AS THE FEDERAL AGENCY RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING THE SAFETY OF CARS USING OUR HIGHWAYS, WILL INQUIRE AS TO WHY GM FAILED TO INVESTIGATE A SAFETY COMPLAINT SUBMITTED TO THEIR CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER. THE OIL INDICATOR WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE OIL DIPSTICK AND NOTICE NO INDICATION OF OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BURNS CHEVROLET (2515 CHERRY RD, ROCK HILL, SC 29732, (803) 392-4180) WHERE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS PROVIDED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
I BOUGHT MY 2012 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TEXAS EDITION ON, MAY 26, 2012, FROM CLASSIC CHEVROLET OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS. I PAID $31,622.80 FOR THE TRUCK. I FEEL THAT A NEW VEHICLE SOLD IN AMERICA SHOULD HAVE AN IMPLIED WARRANTY ATTACHED TO IT THAT GOES ABOVE AND BEYOND EXPRESS WARRANTIES WHEN IT COMES TO THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY. AFTER TWO YEARS AS AN OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE I NOTICED A STAIN ON MY REAR CARPET. THE MORE I RUBBED IT THE MORE IT SPREAD. I FIGURED THAT ONE OF MY GRAND CHILDREN PROBABLY SPILLED SOMETHING AND SO I JUST DECIDED TO TRY TO LIVE WITH IT. IN LATE 2019 I NOTICED THAT MY CARPET BEHIND MY DRIVER'S SEAT WAS WET AFTER A HEAVY RAIN. SO I TOWEL DRIED IT AND TOOK A PAPER RECEIPT FROM MY CONSOLE AND ATTEMPTED TO ADJUST THE HEADER PRESSURE ON THE REAR DOOR BY STRIKING THE ROCKER PANEL STRIKER. THIS YEAR I TOOK A TRIP TO KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI IN FEBRUARY. I FOUND MYSELF HAVING TO DRIVE UNDER RAINY, MISTING, WINDSHIELD, FREEZING AND FOGGING, UP. MY DEFROSTER WAS NO MATCH FOR IT BECAUSE IT NEVER WAS ABLE TO CLEAR MY WINDSHIELD SUFFICIENTLY. ON THE WAY BACK TO TEXAS I LEFT K.C. AT 4:00 AM. THE HAZARDOUS WEATHER WAS STILL PERSISTING. MY BLOOD PRESSURE AND HEARTBEAT RACED A FEW TIMES WHEN I TRIED TO MOVE AHEAD OF TRUCKS TO AVOID THE SPLASHING FROM THEIR WAKE. IN JUNE I DISCOVERED POOLING OF WATER BEHIND MY DRIVER'S SEAT. IT WAS SO RIDICULOUS I HAD TO TAKE IT TO CLASSIC. AFTER 3 HOURS IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE SERVICE MANAGER RETURNED TO ME AND ESCORTED ME TO THE TECHNICIAN. THE TECH SHOWED ME THAT THE WATER WAS COMING FROM AN UNSEALED OVERLAP AT MY FIREWALL. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE LEAK'S BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME. THIS AREA AT THE TOP OF YOUR FENDER IS WHERE THE WATER IS ENTERING AND IT FILLS UP AN AREA INSIDE YOUR FINDER AND THEN IT LEAKS THROUGH YOUR FIREWALL AND RUNS DOWN YOUR ROCKER AND SETTLES AT THE BACK SEAT WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY AND ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN SCANNED CODE CAME UP FOR LOW OIL PRESSURE. CHECKED OIL LEVELS AND THERE WAS NO OIL PRESENT ON THE OIL DIPSTICK. I HAD TO ADD 3 QUARTS OF OIL TO RETURN IT TO THE PROPER OIL LEVEL. I NOW CHECK OIL LEVEL REGULARLY AND HAVE TO ADD AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL ON A REGULAR BASIS. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED FRIENDLY CHEVROLET (7501 HWY 65 NE, FRIDLEY, MN 55432, (612)276-2955) WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THAT THE ROCKER PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
MY 2012 CHEVY SILVERADO HAS STARTED CRACKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEARBY THE AIR BAG AREA. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY PARKING LOT WHEN I REALIZED THIS CRACKING ISSUE STARTED. I AM JUST WORRIED THAT IT WILL CRACK MORE AND BE A SAFETY ISSUE IN THE FUTURE.
OIL PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ALARMED, STATING SHUT ENGINE OFF IMMEDIATELY! WENT REPAIR SHOP CLOSE TO HOME, A DIAGNOSING TEST SHOWED NO CODES AT ALL. A CHECK OF BULLETINS FOR POSSIBLE ISSUE WITH CODES THAT SHOULD BE PRESENT, WERE NOT THERE? SHOP HAS RECOMMENDED I TAKE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS.
IN FEBRUARY 2020 THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR BROKE AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $163.73. NOW THE EXTERIOR HANDLE ON THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR IS BROKEN AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. IN BOTH CASES THE HANDLE BECAME DETACHED ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR FRAME.
DASH BOARD CRACKS HAVE OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 75K MILES AT THE CORNER OF PASSENGER AIRBAG AND OVER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THESE ARE FAIRLY COMMON FOR A MULTI-YEAR GROUP OF GM VEHICLES AND WAS INVOLVED IN A NOW DISMISSED CLASS ACTION SUIT. IT MAY/MAY NOT EVENTUALLY AFFECT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, AND MAY/MAY NOT AFFECT PASSENGER AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. IT MAY/MAY NOT RESULT IN FURTHER INJURY IF DASH COMES APART IN ACCIDENT. COST TO REPLACE AT LOCAL DEALER IS APPROXIMATELY $800 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. NOT COVERED BY ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE OR COMPREHENSIVE EXTENDED WARRANTY CURRENTLY IN FORCE. PLANNING TO REPLACE BUT NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT. GM SHOULD HAVE RECALLED OR OFFER TO AT LEAST SPLIT COSTS.
