My Trailer Brake System starts going off and showing "Trailer Brake System" at the bottom it states Dismiss. It is a safety issue and manufacturing malfunctioning of the truck. There should be a recall in place due to other consumers complaining about this situation.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated upon entering the vehicle and attempting to latch the front driver’s side seat belt, the seat belt anchor detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the cause of the failure was determined to be that the seat belt lap anchor tensioner cable had detached and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the same failure had previously occurred in 2016 and was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V209000 (Seat Belts). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was transferred to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 95,895.
After start up and when putting the vehicle into drive the transmission seemed to not recognize and then began clunking into gear. While driving it felt like it was slipping and racing with no response. The vehicle became to precarious to drive on the road because the gears wouldn't shift and the vehicle decelerated quickly and would not accelerate upon demand. I felt as if I could endanger others and lose control and endanger myself and the occupants of the vehicle. We chose not to drive it and bring it in for an assessment and ultimately was told of the problem and agreed to the repair to gain our vehicle back in safe working condition. The vehicle needed a total transmission rebuild and torque converter as well as other tranny related items. No warning lights but we did begin to hear a whining noise while cycling through what seemed to be the gears.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the air bag control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,380.
The frame for my 2015 Chevy Silverado truck failed inspection for excessive rust on the frame, all around it. It could not even be put on a lift. Other Chevy Silverados have been recalled for this rampant issue and yet not this particular model. It is not safe to drive, it's an expensive problem to fix and very unfair the Chevy is not taking responsibility for it.
I bought the truck around [XXX] from Barkau CDJR, Freeport IL. Two hours away from the dealer the truck went completely dead in traffic. A message appeared on the info screen that said roll down the drivers window and back up to reset the system when the truck finally restarted. Got home with it and called the dealer and let the know. In the next few weeks it happened a couple of more times. It was taken to Tapper Chevrolet in Paw Paw, MI to be serviced. The tech thought it was a problem in the fuse Block and replaced that, after that on the week end the truck was returned the problem happened 3 times. Took it back to Tapper's and they checked it again, had it for 4 days and could not replicate the problem. Kept having issues and took it to 1st Choice Automotive LLC in Dowagiac, MI, he went through the wiring and cleaned some grounds and it seemed to work for a while. Now it is doing the same thing again. It just shuts down randomly for no reason. You lose steering, brakes, you have no control when it happens and no warning when it is going to happen. Have searched You Tube and have seen many other complaints of the same problem with no solution. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

My transmission is not shifting into gear and is not pulling anymore. Also, the transmission has been shifting hard and jerking into and out of gear while driving. The jerking into gear while driving has been going on since I purchased the truck in 2015. I told the Chevrolet dealership about it a few times. I even asked if there was a recall. Their answer was, no recall and all of the Silverado transmission pull like that.
Torque Converter failure. The torque converter went out suddenly with no warning of possible problems. No engine, or transmission warning lights. Just suddenly started jerking when accelerating. RPMs jump every time it jerks.
COLLAPSED LIFTER ON DRIVER SIDE. LIFTERS, VALVE COVER GASKET, HEAD BOLTS VALVE COVER GASKET OIL COOLANT FUEL PIPES NEED REPLACING. DEALER CONFIRMED THIS ISSUE AND HAS INSPECTED. VEHICLE WAS MAKING A CLICKING NOISE PRIOR TO

My radio changes channels on its own. It disconnects my Bluetooth connection for no reason. The display screen changes from one option to another randomly. This has been happening for over a year now. My research on the internet shows many customers had their radios replaced. Soon thereafter the issue starts all over again.
Wax coating is evaporating exposing bare metal on the frame. This is the OEM coating and its failure will result premature degradation of the frame of the truck.
I began to smell gas near my gas tank. Upon further inspection, I noticed there was gas leaking down the side of the tank. I then tilted my truck bed to look at the leak from above the tank and I noticed that the plastic piece connector coming out of the fuel pump housing to the supply line was pumping a stream of gas all over the top of the tank. I went to disconnect the hose and the plastic piece broke instantly fully cracking apart. Thankfully this was in my driveway and not driving as this would have been very dangerous. There was no warning light and this would have sprayed fuel everywhere, especially at speed. There are hot parts all over there and would probably resulted in a fire, and at the very least the truck to shut off while driving. I did not take it to a dealer as the damage was extremely obvious. The truck has never been in a crash and I’ve never changed out any components involving the fueling system, meaning that it simply broke apart on its own. This appears to be a common problem and yet it is not a recall. I had to spend my own money replacing the fuel pump and housing in the tank, as well as the supply line connector as the plastic on that also failed. I started smelling gas and then a few days later is when I found the issue, but I had been driving the truck, including at highway speeds. The truck has 100,365 miles and I’m the original owner.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was parked with the door ajar, there was no warning chime alerting the driver that the door was opened. The contact also stated that when both turn signals were activated, there was no audio warning. On other occasions, while driving at various speeds with the turn signals activated, there was no audio warning. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds, the seat belts were not engaged and there was no warning chime alerting the driver of the issue. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V301000 (Electrical System, Seat Belts). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.
Three or four instances of loss of power steering while making a right hand turn. Power steering failed momentarily except for the last time, steering failed completely while turning into a parking lot and I ended up in the snowbank. All electrical to the vehicle shut off to the vehicle and could not be restored until a new battery was installed. The new battery was completely discharged overnight. Possible related incidents are that several times I have had a message that the security system has been compromised, and I have been locked out of my vehicle spontaneously. I found that there is a recall for this year and model for this issue, but my VIN does not connect to any recall issued. I am afraid to drive this vehicle until this is corrected.
Used the remote start feature to warm up my truck (automatically turns on rear defrost). Upon entering the vehicle I could smell smoke. While driving I turned around and noticed smoke pouring from rear window. I turned off the rear defrost and the window exploded! I contacted the dealer and they claimed the recall had already been completed and they could not assist me.
Roof top air bags had recall about year ago that were fixed. Now roof air bags deployed as driving on new pavement going 48mph. No warning at all. Caused to go in ditch but no major injury or damage. Police tool incident report but could do anything else.truck is currently at the dealer and haven't been able to figure out why this happened.

My 2015 Chevy Silverado, at 58,600 miles, started having problems with the Fuel Sensor. It wouldn't pick up speed. I had to get the fuel pump sensor changed twice already in January and July of 2024. I am experiencing the same issue again now, and it is now showing an emission code, too. I am only at 69,000 miles. This should be a Recall. There should not be these kinds of issues on a vehicle when it's been fixed for the same issue over and over.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that there was an abnormal gasoline odor outside the vehicle. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the odor of gasoline was much stronger in the cabin of the vehicle. The contact looked underneath the vehicle and observed that fuel was leaking excessively from the top of the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the high-pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: SB 10057680-1621 High-Pressure Fuel Pump Leak (Fuel System, Gasoline). The failure mileage was approximately 108,000.
Brakes fail at low speeds,or cruising in to a parking lot
Brakes are hard at low speeds
The vehicle lost power steering and being an electronic system, there is nowhere to add fluid to the system. There was a recall for this issue from 2018 to 2019 and the repair service was performed on this vehicle. I now have to pay for the repairs that were once covered under a recall for a known issue.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 75 MPH and overtaking another vehicle, the engine made an abnormal clunking sound, and the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the engine started making abnormal knocking sounds. The contact's husband pulled into an AutoZone parking lot, where it was diagnosed and determined that cylinder #6 was misfiring and that the knock sensor had failed. The contact stated that her husband replaced the parts; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that cylinder #6 was misfiring. The dealer determined that the lifters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer informed the contact that further inspection was required to determine whether the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Was on my way to work the morning of 11/11/23, the rear window defroster was on. I saw in the rear-view mirror smoke at the rear window. The smoke only lasted a few seconds. About 10 seconds after the smoke stopped there was a loud bang inside the truck. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw that the right-side glass in the slider had shattered. The old window is still in the vehicle. I am in the process of getting a new power sliding window and getting the money together to have it replaced. I have not taken the tuck to a Chevrolet dealer to have them inspect it. I found an article that there is a recall for the rear window defroster in Canada, recall # N192220470.

I bought this vehicle last November from Shea. When we bought the truck we noticed the check engine light, but was told that we would have to bring it back in for inspection. The last vehicle we bought from Shea it had a 30 day return and it would fix any problems. Not so with this time. So, we purchased a Platinum warranty which was a little above $2K and we believed would cover these issues. That was not the case. We had a friend of ours who is a GM Mechanic look it over and told us that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. So when I brought the vehicle in on January 22nd I told the service person at the desk that we had a platinum warranty and told him that I had a GM technician tell me that it needed a high pressure fuel pump. After sitting for six hours he comes out and tells me that I needed a high pressure fuel pump and tells me it will cost me $1400.00+ to have it fixed and it would not be covered by my warranty. And then tells me that the work they did today would cost me $150.00. I told him when I came in what the problem was. I understand that they need to do their own diagnostics, but why didn't they tell me that the part would not be covered by the platinum warranty. We paid $23K for the truck, plus an additional $2k+ for the warranty and now an additional $1,400.00-$1,500.00 for the fuel pump. So, yes we are not happy and will give a second thought to ever using Shea again. I understand that this memo will not change things, but I want you to understand that prior to today's fiasco I have told friends that I would recommend Shea when looking for a vehicle. Now I would not recommend Shea to any of our friends. Sorely disappointed! To go along with the previous text, when I purchased the 2015 Z71 Silverado the key FOB fell apart so I purchased two (2) new ones at a cost of $225 each so that I could start my vehicle on cold winter days. So far, that was a waste of money a money also because the check engine light and the high pressure fuel pump
As I was driving, the brakes got all Smashy the pedal locked and the brakes started grinding. I couldn’t stop the truck anymore. I couldn’t do absolutely anything I had to stop and hit a divider from a parking structure to be able to stop my truck. My truck is a 2015 Chevy Silverado, I do maintenance all the time I almost took out four cars and injured. These people along with myself. This is uncalled for something is wrong with my brakes. I took a video right after and you see on the video how the brake is just stuck it won’t even go in or anything you hear , a marshmallow sound you feel the grinding it’s horrible .
While going through an S curve the dash lights went dark and engine quit while pulling a trailer. Had no power steering or brakes. Put it in neutral and was able to get engine started again before hitting a car coming from the other direction. On initial start up, there was a message "action required, open then close driver window". All dash settings for radio, information and media had to be reset. This is dangerous, vehicle shutting down randomly, as it could cause accident and injury or even death.
Transmission shudder and hits hard at times.
Air bag indicator light on for passenger side air bag system issue. No recall issues yet with limited miles on truck.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that when making a left or a right turn, or while shifted into reverse, the vehicle stalled. An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall had expired and advised the contact to bring the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.
Transmission sounds different and clunks lightly once in a while. There is a known problem w this type of transmission but GM is not accepting it as a recall concern and many dealers are ignoring repairs are needed.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at 15 MPH and attempting to complete a turn, he became aware that the electronic power steering was not functioning. After restarting the vehicle, it returned to normal functionality, but the failure became an intermittent occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the electronic power steering. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related it to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (Steering), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 127,000.
The power assist for the brakes intermittently goes out and does not work, typically happens at low speed like when parking. The most recent time this started happening a ‘brake assist’ notification appeared on my dashboard. This is a safety concern. I see a recall for my model and year, but when I inquired was told my VIN was not covered. The existing recall number that I believe should be expanded to cover my VIN is recall number N192268490 and is also listed as NHSTA campaign numbers 19V645 and 20V603. Please look into this and expand the recall to cover my vehicle and others that should be covered for this safety defect.
My 2015 Silverado was purchased new and around October 2023 the trailer brake service warning started popping up. I was concerned with pulling any sort of trailer that my safety would be at risk, and also the constant noise as a distraction. I have taken to dealer for inspection, but nothing was able to be done at the time. No other warnings or symptoms have appeared. Just the trailer brake service continually going off. Thanks.
