2016 Chevrolet Silverado High Country Crew Cab Standard Box A/C Condenser (GM Part Number 84802253) has cracked and failed at approximately 80,000 miles, resulting in (GM Part Number 12356150) refrigerant leaking to atmosphere. The affect component is very similar to the TSB 17336 from GM on like vehicles. There were no warnings or indicators that signaled that this component had failed. This component was inspected by a certified Manufacture dealer and found to be faulty, therefore, releasing harmful refrigerant into the atmosphere.
My husband went to buckle his seatbelt and the thick metal coil within the plastic cover snapped. He was lucky it didn't happen in an accident. I immediately took it to the dealer, who took pictures and stated he needed to contact GM Customer Service to proceed. He said he's call me back later that day which he did not; I ended up calling the following morning and he proceeded to inform me a diagnostic procedure would have to be done to determine what happened. I asked if he had heard back from Customer Service and he said no. I called and talked with the service manager who said he would have to wait to hear from GM. Long story short, according to customer service, they'd only pay $70 towards the total cost since the car was not under warranty. I said a 5 year old seatbelt should not snap and they should be responsible for paying the entire $500 tab. They would not do so.
Believe the vacuum pump is faulty. Hard braking g or no brakes when going slow or go in reverse.
The contact's husband owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while her husband was driving 30 mph, the upper control arm fractured. The power steering warning light illuminated. The driver continued driving to his destination. The contact called a dealer and made an appointment however, upon arrival the contact was informed that the dealer was closed. The driver drove the vehicle home and made an appointment with another dealer, Parkway Chevrolet (25500 TX-249, Tomball, TX 77375). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with a defective upper control arm however, the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V256000 (Suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
While back 1,200 pound boat and trailer down a boat ramp, the brake pedal sank to the floor and the vehicle kept rolling. I had to pump it several times to stop it. This has happened every time I go to a boat ramp. Brakes seem to work great other than low speed backing up. I'm scared I might get pulled into the water if I ever tow whatbmy truck is rated for at 11,000 pounds. Please advise.
OEM A/C CONDENSER FAILED. CRACK AT FITTING. A/C SYSTEM WORKED WITH NO ISSUES AND SUDDENLY NO LONGER PUT OUT ANY COOLING OR DEFROSTING / DEFOGGING. FIRST NOTED A START UP IN THE MORNING. INSUFFICIENT DEFOGGING WHILE DRIVING. RECALL ON OTHER AFFECT GM TRUCKS / SUV WITH SAME OEM CONDENSER DOES NOT COVER THE 2016 SILVERADO 1500. COST FOR REPAIR WAS $870.52
I HAD A RECALL ON 2 DIFFERENT TRUCKS (15 & 16 SILVERADO 1500) AND THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMED THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I SOLD THE 15 BUT CURRENTLY STILL HAVE THE 16. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT'S BEEN TOO LONG SINCE I HAD THE RECALL ADDRESSES (NOV 2020) SO I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE $180 DIAGNOSIS FEE. MY TRUCK IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING IT WAS DOING BEFORE. EVEN AFTER THE DEALERSHIP "FIXED"THE PROBLEM, I COULD ALL NOTICE THE ISSUE. I LOVE GM BUT I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE EFFORTS THEY HAVE PUT FORWARD TO RESOLVE THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I'LL NOT SURE IF MY NEXT VEHICLE WILL BE A GM PRODUCT
PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND WOULD NOT STOP WHEN PARKING AND ALSO IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC

The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH and making a right turn, the vehicle lost power steering functionality, requiring extra effort while turning the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle then stalled. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact shifted into park(P), removed the key from the ignition, and then reinserted the key and was able to restart the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle regained power steering functionality. The contact stated that the failure had been intermittent but recently became constant. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (Steering). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,900.
My truck has a shudder/ shake while accelerating as well as rough shifts here and there. If certain speeds are maintained, the shudder is constant. This causes uneven speeds, noises, and distractions. I fear one day the transmission will fully give out while driving and I will crash. My vehicle is available for inspection. The problem is easily reproduced as it happens every time I drive. As well, the truck was recently at an independent service center and the problem was confirmed by an associate. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer as they told me it would cost me $180 just for a diagnostic which they will need my car for two days. There are no current dash lights on. This is a known issue and Chevrolet should be held accountable.
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES CONTINUES TO ROLL EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES ARE FULLY PUSHED. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY AND IS NOTICEABLE WHEN PULLING INTO THE GARAGE. THE BRAKE PADS WERE RECENTLY EVALUATED DURING A ROUTINE SERVICE AT A GM DEALERSHIP.
I WAS IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE WAS NO FLUID IN MY RADIATOR. UPON INSPECTION THE RADIATOR HAD CRACKED AND WAS LEAKING AT THE SEAM RIGHT CORNER. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS THE 7TH ONE THEY HAD DONE THIS SEASON. I LIVE IN MASS NEAR OCEAN. IT WAS A RAINY DAY AND MY WINDOWS WERE UP. THERE WERE NO FUMES, NO WARNING LIGHTS TO ALERT ME SOMETHING WAS GOING WRONG WITH THE HEATING COOLING SYSTEM.. THE CONCERN WAS MY TRUCK WASN'T THE FIRST TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP. THE SAME DEALERSHIP MCGEE RAYNHAM MA HAS BEEN THE ONLY COMPANY TO WORK ON MY TRUCK.
The truck shakes while in slowing down or in a stop .....And the wifi doesn't work I keep I been calling already for months to chevrolet onstar for the resolution and they keep saying it fixed and it not
AT LOW SPEEDS MY BRAKES STOP WORKING. THE BRAKE PEDAL BECOMES VERY STIFF AND I HAVE TO USE BOTH FEET PUSHING DOWN AS HARD AS I CAN FOR THE VEHICLE TO STOP. ALSO,THE HEAD LIGHT SWITCH INSIDE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK. WHEN I TURNED THE DIAL OFF OF THE AUTO LIGHTS I SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM BEHIND THE DIAL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,000.*DT*LN
MY LEFT HEAD LIGHT LEFT TURN SIGNAL, HORN , HAZARDS ON MY LEFT SIDE AND WINDOW WASHER FLUID ALL IS NOT WORKING
ON FEB 26 I HAD MY REGULAR OIL CHANGE DONE ALONG WITH 27 VEHICLE INSPECTION, 2 WEEKS LATER ON SAT MARCH 13 DID A QUICK ERRAND AND CAME BACK HOME, A LITTLE AFTER I NOTICED CARAMEL FLUID UNDER MY TRUCK, WHEN I OPEN THE HOOD I AUTOMATIC SAW A LEAK COMING OUT OF THE RESERVOIR SO I OPENED IT AND NOTICE THE SAME CARAMEL FLUID INSIDE AND I KNEW IT'S WASN'T A GOOD SIGN. I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY MARCH 15, AFTER THEY INSPECTED IT I WAS TOLD THEIR WAS AN INTERNAL BREAK IN THE RADIATOR AND THAT'S WHAT CAUSE THE CARAMEL FLUID ACCORDING TO THEIR TECHNICIAN. DEALERSHIP CONTACT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THEY ARE REPAIRING AND COVERING MOST OF THE COST WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE HOSES CAUSE THEY ARE NOT COVERED. HOSES ARE NOT BROKEN OR HAVE ANY HOLES THEY'RE REPLACING THEM CAUSE THEY CAUGHT CONTAMINATED BECAUSE OF THE INTERNAL BREAK. DON'T SEE WHY I SHOULD E RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIFFERENCE OF $800
THE TRUCK WILL CUT ENGINE AT ANY SPEED, TOTALLY LOSING POWER TO BREAKS, STEERING, ODOMETERS ETC. IT MOSTLY COMES BACK ON AFTER A FEW SECONDS AND SENDS A CODE OF MANY DIFFERENT KIDS (SERVICE PARK ASSIST, STABIITRAC, ROLL WINDOW DOWN AND BACK UP, TRAILER BRAKE ASSIST ETC) THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THIS COULD HAPPEN DURING A CRITICAL DRIVING MOVE AND COULD END UP DEADLY. CURRENTLY, THERE ARE 70,000 MILES ON THIS TRUCK AND OUT OF STANDARD WARRANTY AND WILL PROBABLY COST A LOT TO FIX. (LABOR MOSTLY) RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS PRETTY COMMON AND VERY SCARY. GM EVEN HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN OUT (18-NA-161) SHOWING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IS VERY DANGEROUS, THUS NEED TO COVER THE RECALL RIGHT AWAY.
THIS IS MY FAMILY AUTO I USUALLY USE ONLY ON WEEKENDS THREE WEEKS AGO ENGINE LIGHT COME OUT I TOOK TO THE MECHANIC SHOP FOR A TEST AND THEY TOLD ME THIS LOOKS AS NEED A RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER DEALER THE TRUCK RUNS GOOD WITH OUT PROBLEM BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT COME OUT I WILL UPLOAD WHAT'S THE SHOP SAYS
INCREASED BRAKE PEDAL EFFORT CAUSED BY FAULTY BRAKE VACUUM PUMP. STIFF BRAKE PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS AND INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE
TRUCK HAS 104,000 MILES ON IT. SATURDAY IT STOPPED GOING INTO ANY GEAR AND WOULD NOT MOVE, CLEARLY THE TRANSMISSION. IT INITIALLY WAS JERKING AS I PULLED INTO A SIDE STREET AND ONCE I GOT TO WHERE I NEEDED TO BE AND TRIED TO DRIVE AGAIN, IT WOULDN'T GO INTO ANY GEAR. TOOK TO AAMCO IN ALBANY WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION PUMP FAILED AND WILL NEED A COMPLETE REBUILD AND THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER FOR THIS PUMP.
AT SLOWER SPEED THE BRAKING SYSTEM SEEMS TO FAIL. THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDS TO BE PRESSED HARD BUT SINKS AND THE CAR DOES NOT STOP. THIS IS ONLY HAPPENS AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 15 MILES PER HOUR. IT FEELS LIKE THE CARS DOES NOT STOP AND I HAVE TO PUT MUCH MORE PRESSURE THAN USUAL. I USUALLY PUT CAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT AND IT IS FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME. IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. I DID TAKE INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG
ON JAN 30, 2021 A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED ON START-UP BUT HAD NO NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE IN DRIVING CONDITIONS OR READING FROM DASH GAUGES. CHECKED ENGINE CODE AND IT READ PO6DD, TOOK MY TRUCK TO A GM DEALER AND THEY RAN A TEST SHOWING 20PSI TOO LOW OF OIL PRESSURE AT THE TOP SIDE OF THE ENGINE AS A RESULT OF A FAILED OIL PUMP SOLENOID. WAS TOLD THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ENGINE FAILURE. COST TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE IS >$3,000.00. WHILE THE DEALERSHIP WAS TEST DRIVING MY TRUCK AFTER REPAIRING THE OIL SOLENOID THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING UNIT FAILED. THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING UNIT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND IS NEARLY $1,500.00 TO REPAIR. THESE PROBLEMS ON A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 103,490 MILES SEEMS LIKE A MAJOR ISSUE. I REACHED OUT TO GM AND THEY SAID THAT THESE ISSUES ARE NOT UNDER RECALL AND WILL NOT BE ASSISTING IN ANY COSTS INVOLVED IN REPAIRS.
WHILE TURNING CORNERS AT SLOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE STEERING LOCKS UP AND VEHICLE STALLS. THE TRACTION CONTROL (T/C) COMES ON. ONCE THE VEHICLE SIT STILL FOR A WHILE THE VEHICLE CAN BE STARTED AND BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WITH NO WARNING THE PROBLEM ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEED. VEHICLE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER HAS INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE HANDS FREE, BLUETOOTH CONNECTION. THE SYSTEM REVERTS BACK TO NON HANDS-FREE OPERATION OR MUTES THE CALL RANDOMLY. THE ENTERTAINMENT CENTER ALSO RANDOMLY SCROLLS, SELECTS RADIO STATIONS AND CHANGES MODES WHEN NOT IN A CALL. HAPPENS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AT LOW AND HIGH SPEED, IN ALL ASSOCIATED CONDITIONS. THIS DISTRACTS THE DRIVER AND HAS THE POTENTIAL TO RESULT IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. OTHER CHEVY SILVERADOS OF VARIOUS YEARS EXHIBIT THE SAME ISSUE AS EVIDENCED BY A NUMBER OF INTERNET FORUM AND YOU TUBE POSTS BY OWNERS. A DATE OF OCCURRANCE IS PROVIDED, BUT IT'S HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS.
TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SUFFERED FAILURE WHILE DRIVING, MUCH NOISE AND DEFAULT TO 'SAFE MODE' DECREASING TRUCK PERFORMANCE. TRUCK JUST REACHED 80K MILES, LESS THAN FIVE YEARS OLD. THE FIX IS TO REPLACE/REBUILD TRANSMISSION. REPAIR IS STATING THAT THEY ARE UPGRADING VARIOUS PARTS WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION TO PREVENT ISSUE IN THE FUTURE. TO ME, THIS ACKNOWLEDGES A FLAW IN THE DESIGN/CONSTRUCTION OF PART. RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED TO ADDRESS KNOWN ISSUES DUE TO POOR DESIGN OR CONSTRUCTION.
LOSE OF BREAKING POWER AT LOW SPEED. I LOST ALL BREAKING POWER TRYING TO MANEUVER IN A PARKING GARAGE AND PARKING LOT. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS THAT COME ON DURING OR AFTER THIS. I HAVE HAD IT HAPPEN 3 TIMES ALMOST RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND OTHERS. THE BREAK PEDDLE STIFFENS AND PROVIDES ALMOST NO BREAKING.
MY SERVICE POWER STEERING ALERT CAME UP ON MY DIC AND LOST POWER STEERING. WHEN I GOT HOME I SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND WAITED 10 MINUTES AND STARTED VEHICLE UP AND MESSAGE WAS GONE AND I HAD POWER STEERING. DROVE TO WORK NEXT DAY AND WAS OK. JUST BEFORE I ARRIVED HOME, I GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AND NO POWER STEERING AGAIN. SAME SCENARIO AS BEFORE, LET VEHICLE SIT AND RESTART AND EVERYTHING WORKING. I DROVE FOR 4 DAYS AND ON THE 5TH DAY IT DID IT AGAIN. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A GM DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AT THE TIME I TOOK IT TO THEM, IT WAS NOT WORKING. THEY SAID THAT THE MODULE 'MAY' BE BAD OR POSSIBLY THE STEERING RACK IS BAD. ALL CODES WERE COMMUNICATION ERRORS. WHEN I GOT VEHICLE HOME, I CHECKED FOR ANY LOOSE WIRES UNDER DASH AND THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK. I TOLD THEM THAT I KNOW PRIOR YEAR TRUCKS HAD THIS ISSUE. I TOLD THEM THIS AND THEY SAID THAT I NEED TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING RACK AT MY COST OF 2600.00 THAT THE VEHICLE HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT AND THINGS GO BAD. I TOLD THEM THAT IT WAS HIGHWAY MILES AND THAT SHOULDN'T MATTER.
VEHICLE BRAKES BECOME VERY HARD TO DEPRESS MAKING IT HARD TO STOP THE VEHICLE I FIND THIS HAPPENS MORE AT SLOWER SPEEDS AND IN REVERSE
THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY TRUCK TURNS REAL HARD AND THE BRAKES DON'T SEAM TO ENGAGE AS USUAL THIS HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS OR IN A DOWNHILL. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE HIGHWAY ON I15 COMING TO NEVADA FROM CALIFORNIA ON A DOWNHILL WITH TRAFFIC PRESENT AND AT LOW SPEEDS. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED IN A DRIVE THRU AND A PARKING LOT TRUCK WAS IN MOTION AND AT LOW SPEEDS I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL TURNED HARD/STIFF AND MAKES A SCREECHING SOUND. THE TRUCK DOES COME TO A STOP BUT TRAVELS MORE THAN USUAL WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NORMAL.

The contact stated that while driving at 5 MPH from a complete stop, the brake pedal was depressed but went all the way to the floorboard and hesitated to respond, causing a 3 feet delay in stopping distance. The brake assist warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving and whenever he would depress the brake pedal several times. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WORK AT LOW SPEED WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKE TO BACKUP I NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY HARD. I PUT MY TRUCK IN REVERSE TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE BRAKE WAS VERY HARD AND WOULDN'T STOP. WHEN HIT THE FENCE THE TRUCK FINALLY STOPPED. CALLED THE DEARLER WHERE I GOT THE TRUCK, THEY SAID THERE'S A RECALL AND THE BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED BUT THAT WASN'T GOING TO FIX IT. 2019 I TOOK THE TRUCK IN @ 60,000 MILES, THEY DID A REPROGRAM AND SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANY THING ELSE UNLESS THERE WAS ANOTHER BRAKE RECALL. THE BAD THING ABOUT THIS WHOLE BRAKE PROBLEM IS GM KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND WON'T FIX IT. GM HAS AND WILL FIX THE PROBLEM IF YOU PAY 12 TO 1,600 DOLLARS. SINCE THEY DID THE REPROGRAM I HAVE 80, 000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND AT LOW SPEED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT OR IN PARKING LOTS THE BRAKE IS VERY HARD AND THE ABS SYSTEM WILL ACTIVATE. SAME PROBLEM DIFFERENT DAY. I NEED NEW BOMBERS NOW. I GUESS GM IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET HURT.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTING IN LOW GEAR. MAINLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. I ALSO EXPERIENCE A POWER LOSS WHILE MOVING AT VERY SLOW SPEED AND APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL. MOST OF THE ISSUES I AM EXPERIENCING HAPPENS WHILE MOVING AT SLOW SPEEDS AND WHEN TURNING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED AND THEY STATED THAT THE HARD DOWNSHIFTS AND POWER LAG ARE DESIGN FEATURES TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION FROM SELF INFLICTED DAMAGE.
I GOT A RECALL DONE BUY A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN STORM LAKE IOWA, SO THEY SAY THEY DID IT BUT AFTER A FEW MONTHS OF DRIVING I NOTICED THE MY TRUCK STARTED BREAKING DIFFERENT AT LOW SPEEDS JUST LIKE THE RECALL WAS FOR THE RECALL NUMBER IS N192268490. JUST DIDN'T KNOW IF THERE WAS SOMETHING I COULD DO SO I DON'T HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED WHEN IT'S NOT MY FAULT THE BREAKS WON'T WORK LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TOO!
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHEEL LOCKED UP AND STEERING ASSIST QUIIT WORKING WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROUTE 119 IN CHARLESTON, WV DOING 40 MPH CAUSING ME TO ALMOST HIT ALMOST HIT A SEMI-TRUCK HEAD ON. POWER STEERING ASSIST WILL KEEP WORKING AND STOPPING, I TOOK VEHICLE STRAIGHT TO WALKER CHEVY IN NITRO, WV.
WHILE DRIVING AT PARKING SPEED OR DRIVE THROUGH SPEED MY BRAKE PEDAL GETS HARD AND I LOSE BRAKE. I'VE ALMOST WRECKED A FEW TIMES ALREADY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE.
A LOT OF FORCE NEEDED TO BREAK AT LOWER SPEED

The contact stated while reversing out of the driveway and attempting to depress on the brake pedal, the brake pedal was rigid and failed to depress as needed. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to roll to a stop independently. The contact stated he had experienced the failure three times. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IN DRIVEWAY OF RESIDENCE, RUNNING AFTER BEING STARTED WITH REMOTE START. TEMPERATURE OUTSIDE WAS ABOUT 35F. FRONT AND REAR WINDOW DEFROSTERS TYPICALLY COME ON WHEN THE VEHICLE IS REMOTE STARTED IN THE WINTER MONTHS. REAR WINDOW OF TRUCK HAS THREE SEPARATE PANES, THE TWO OUTER PANES ARE STATIONARY AND THE MIDDLE SLIDES OPENS VIA A SWITCH IN THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE. ALL WINDOWS IN VEHICLE WERE CLOSED. I WAS STANDING BESIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD CRACKING SOUND AND SMALL PIECES OF THE REAR WINDOW PANE BEHIND THE DRIVER FELL TO THE GROUND. THE WINDOW CONTINUED TO MAKE A CRACKING SOUNDS FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AFTER THE INITIAL SOUND. THERE IS A SLIGHT SMELL OF ELECTRICAL WIRE BURNING INSIDE THE VEHICLE VERY CLOSE TO THE BOTTOM LEFT SIDE OF THE DAMAGED PANE OF GLASS. DESPITE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION, GM CLAIMS THAT THE VIN OF THE VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. COLD WEATHER (25-30 DEGREES?) ON 12/24, SO REMOTE STARTED TRUCK AND BEGAN DRIVING (REAR DEFROSTER AUTO STARTS). HEARD SLIGHT SIZZLE NOISE, BUT COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS...THEN WIFE (RIDING IN BACK) HEARD IT GET WORSE, THEN A LITTLE SMOKE, THEN REAR-WINDOW ON DRIVER SIDE POPPED/CRACKED/SHATTERED (TRUCK HAS A SLIDING REAR WINDOW, SO 3 SECTIONS). DIDN'T BLOW OUT, BUT IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED. TAPED IT TO KEEP PIECES FROM BLOWING APART. TALKED TO DEALER AND GM CUSTOMER CARE, AND THEY ADVISED OF AN OPEN CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT IT ONLY APPLIES TO VEHICLES IN CERTAIN STATES (COLD WEATHER)...INCLUDING MI, BUT I'M 1 HOUR SOUTH IN NORTHERN IN. #N192265660-01 IS THE PROGRAM NUMBER (REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER THERMAL EVENTS - US ONLY _(MAR 25, 2020). THE PROBLEM ALSO SEEMS TO BE MORE COMMON IN CANADA WHERE A FULL RECALL IS IN EFFECT. AT THIS POINT, HOWEVER, GM CUSTOMER CARE (CASE # 9-6442774509) SAYS THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND REFERRED ME BACK TO DEALER...WHO I WILL ASSUME WILL REFER ME BACK TO CUST CARE AGAIN. I'M WAITING ON THEIR RESPONSE. MAKES NO SENSE THAT THEY WILL REIMBURSE ONLY FOR VEHICLES IN CERTAIN STATES. I'M IN THE SAME COLD CLIMATE AS MICHIGAN AND MANY OF THE OTHER IMPACTED STATES. LOOKING FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF COSTS TO REPAIR, BUT FOR NOW I'M WAITING TO MAKE SURE SOMEONE WILL PAY FOR IT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT GM IS REFUSING TO REIMBURSE (EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE CLEARLY WILLING IN MANY OTHER STATES). ANY SUGGESTIONS?
I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST TO THE VEHICLE. WITHIN ABOUT 30 SECONDS, I SAW SMOKE RISING FROM THE CENTER PART OF THE REAR WINDOW AS IF THE DEFROSTER HAD STARTED A FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE REAR DEFROST OFF AND THE SMOKE CEASED. WITHIN A MATER OF SECONDS, THE RIGHT PANEL OF THE REAR WINDOW POPPED VERY LOUDLY AS IT SHATTERED, PRESUMABLY FROM THE FIRE. I WAS DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I DO HAVE A POWER REAR WINDOW ON THE VEHICLE AND THERE IS A RECALL ALREADY IN CANADA FOR CHEVROLET SILVERADO'S OF MY MODEL YEAR WITH THE REAR POWER WINDOW HAVING FIRES STARTED BY THE REAR DEFROSTER.
WHEN USUALLY DOING THREE POINT TURN MY POWER STEERING GOES OUT MY RADIO GOES OUT AIR CONDITIONING EVERYTHING AND THEN COMES RIGHT BACK ON I'M PRETTY SURE IT'S A VOLTAGE DROP TO THE STEERING I SEE A LOT OF RECALLS ON IT AND MINES DOING THE SAME THING AND ALSO THE STABLE TRACK COMES ON AND TRAILER SYSTEM MORNING COMES ON HAS NOT EVER DONE ANYTHING WHEN DRIVING USUALLY WHEN PARKING
DEFROSTER BUTTON ILLUMINATION IS INTERMITTENT. THIS COULD LEAD TO A CRASH WHILE SEEKING TO FIND AND OPERATE THE DEFROSTER ACTIVATION WHILE DRIVING UNDER LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS 46,500 MILES ON IT, AND THE REPAIR IS STATED AT $700 WHICH INVOLVES A REPLACEMENT HEATER MODULE WITH THE SAME DEFECTIVE BULBS AND REQUIRING A COMMON DATA BUS PROGRAMMING FEE, AND IS, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, NOT USER SERVICEABLE.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle started shaking and vibrating abnormally. Additionally, the rear wheels locked up and there was a burning rubber odor coming from the tires. The contact also stated that the transmission, traction control, and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the transmission solenoid was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted regarding the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 45,000. The VIN was not available.
WHEN I APPLY MY BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS OR HAVE TO APPLY A DECENT AMOUNT OF PRESSURE I HEAR A HIGH PITCHED NOISE AND MY BRAKES GET HARD AND I HAVE A HARD TIME STOPPING. I ALSO FEEL A CATCH AND RELEASE KIND OF JUMP IN THE PETAL WHEN THIS HAPPENS LIKE THE BRAKES CATCH THEN RELEASE.
THE ASSIST TAILGATE NO LONGER WORKS. THE TAILGATE IS SUPPOSED TO LOWER SLOWLY. NOW IT JUST SLAMS DOWN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED IT SLAMMED DOWN ON MY LEG. I HAVE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT DOES COVER THIS,HOWEVER THE REPAIR DOESN'T LAST. WE'VE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND IT IS STILL BROKEN. THEY KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE IS ,BUT SAY THEY ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO REPAIR THE ACTUAL ISSUE. PLEASE HELP
WHEN DRIVING, IF I DO SOMETHING ELECTRICAL, LIKE APPLYING THE BRAKES OR USING MY TURN SIGNAL, THE ENTIRE CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS OFF FOR A SECOND AND SOMETIMES JERKS THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY HAND. IT USUALLY RESTARTS IMMEDIATELY ON ITS OWN WHILE DRIVING. I'VE HAD IT ALSO WHILE PARKED WITH JUST THE RADIO ON, THAT EVERYTHING JUST DIED. THEN IT TOOK A FEW TRIES BEFORE THE TRUCK ENGINE TURNED OVER TO TRY STARTING IT
N192220470, A RECALL SUPPOSEDLY ONLY IN CANADA FULLY DESCRIBES THE PROBLEM. MY REAR GLASS EXPLODED WHEN I TURNED A CORNER. NO OBJECTS HIT IT, NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE.
BRAKES START FAILING ( BRAKE PEDAL HARD) WHEN PARKING AFTER DRIVING
I WAS PULLING A TRAILER AND WAS TRYING TO BACK IT UP TO PARK IT AND I LOST MY ABILITY TO BRAKE. IT WAS SCARY ASKS DANGEROUS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ALL THEY DID IS REPROGRAM IT AND NOT ADDRESS THE ACTUAL VACUUM PUMP THAT HAS THE SLUDGE BUILD UP ON THE SCREEN. NEEDLESS TO SAY, EVEN AFTER THE RECALL, I AM STILL EXPERIENCING BRAKE LOSS AT LOW SPEED. I'M HEY DISAPPOINTED IN GM. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY '15 AND '16 SILVERADO'S. I'M NOT SURE IF I'LL BUY ANOTHER GM VEHICLE AGAIN IF MY SAFETY IS COMPROMISED AND THEY WILL ONLY BANDAID THE PROBLEM
