TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE FRONT CRASH COLLISION SENSORS MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SENSORS INACCURATELY DISPLAYED A WARNING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TOO CLOSE TO ANOTHER VEHICLE OR CLOSE TO STRIKING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF IT WHEN THERE WAS NO VEHICLE PRESENT. BOB MCCOSH CHEVROLET, BUICK, GMC IN COLUMBIA, MISSOURI WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE SENSORS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
IN JUNE OF 2017, I BOUGHT A NEW CHEVROLET SILVERADO. IT RUNS GREAT NO PROBLEMS. IN NOVEMBER 2017 I CALLED TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE CHUGGLE DRIVE QUALITY. THE SERVICE DID WHAT WAS NEEDED TO BE DONE. I HAD TO MAKE A 5-HOUR TRIP UP NORTH WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY TRUCK WASN'T RUNNING LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THE RECALL WAS DONE. I NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING HARD. WHEN THE CYLINDER DEACTIVATION WENT TO 4 CYLINDERS THE ENGINE LUGS. BEFORE THE RECALL WAS DONE I COULDN'T TELL WHEN THE CYLINDER ACTIVATION WAS SWITCHING TO 4 CYLINDERS BACK TO 8 CYLINDERS IT RAN VERY SMOOTHLY NO LUGGING OF THE ENGINE. WHAT CONCERNS ME NOW IS WHEN I WAS DRIVING AN WENT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT SLOW SPEED THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED HARD WHERE THE BACK WHEELS LOCKED UP. WENT THROUGH A DRIVE THROUGH AFTER I PLACED THE ORDER PROCEEDED TO THE WINDOW MY TRUCK LUNGED FORWARD FROM FIRST GEAR TO SECOND GEAR. I AM GLAD THAT NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG NO CODES CAME UP. EVEN CALLED GM GOT NOWHERE WITH THEM. THE CHUGGLE DRIVE IS A REPROGRAMMING OF THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. GM TRYING TO FIX ONE PROBLEM CREATED ANOTHER PROBLEM. I PULL A 5000-POUND CAMPER WITH THIS TRUCK WITH THE ISSUES I AM HAVING NOW WITH THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING HARD AND ENGINE LUGGING I AM AFRAID IT MIGHT CAUSE ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. MY TRUCK RAN PERFECTLY BEFORE THE CHUGGLE DRIVE QUALITY RECALL WAS DONE. THE RECALL HAS TO BE THE PROBLEM. IT'S NOT A GOOD FIX.
BRAKES BECOME HARD APPLY AND WILL NOT STOP. HAD TO UTILIZE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION.

VIBRATION IN THE REST END. HAD TIRES ROTATED AND STILL A VIBRATION. COMPLAINED TO GENERAL MOTORS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT IT IS WITHIN THEIR SPECS. THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE 2015-2017 SILVERADOS AND NOTHING BEING DONE. MAKES IT UNCOMFORTABLE TO DRIVE ON LONG TRIPS IS AT ALL SPEEDS WHILE DRIVING AND NEGOTIATING BENDS IN THE HIGHWAY. NOTICED WHEN I PURCHASE AND DROVE OFF THE LOT PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2017 CONTINUED
I HIT A HUGE DEER WITH MOST OF THE FRONT END LOTS OF FRONT DAMGAGE AT OVER 45 MILES AN HOUR. DASH PANEL SAID AIRBAGS BUT DIDNT ACTIVE, CAB FILLED UP WITH LIKE GREY SMOKE FLASHERS ACTIVATED COULDNT BE TURNED OFF SEATBELTS WORKED DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE 2017 SILVERADO TODAY VERY SORE SHOOK UP AND CONCERNED ABOUT SAFTEY OF ANYONE RIDING OR DRIVING IN IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT ABRUPTLY PULLED IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT NOTICED A CHEMICAL ODOR IN THE VEHICLE AND A FOG-LIKE SUBSTANCE IN THE CABIN AFTER THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE SCENE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE NECK, SHOULDER, AND ARM, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
OUR 2017 SILVERADO 1500 TRUCK WENT INTO LOW POWER MODE WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH. IT STARTED TO RUN REALLY ROUGH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL THE LIGHTS WERE FLASHING ON THE DASH AND IT LOST POWER. THE LIGHT ON THE DASH WAS FLASHING LOW POWER MODE. COULDN'T GET ABOVE 35 MPH PUTTING US IN A VERY DANGEROUS POSITION WITH TRAFFIC FLOWING 70 MPH + HAD TO TRY TO MANEUVER OFF THE INTERSTATE. TURNED IT OFF TO RESET IT AND IT DROVE NORMAL BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE ECM. I FOUND SEVERAL OTHER INSTANCES OF THIS PROBLEM BEING REPORTED ON GM AND CHEVROLET DISCUSSION FORUMS.
THERE'S A BOX UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN THAT CAN VIBRATE LOOSE AND FALL BY YOUR FEET WHILE DRIVING. IT FALLS RIGHT BESIDE THE BRAKE AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY BRAKE WITHOUT IT SWINGING AROUND. IT CAN BE REPLACED BUT IS CAPABLE OF VIBRATING LOOSE OVER AND OVER.
I BOUGHT MY 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO ON OCTOBER 2017. NOT EVEN ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASED I HAD TO BRING BACK THE VEHICLE DUE TO LOUD CLUNKING NOISES AND JERKING. I HAD TO BRING THE TRUCK IN AT LEAST 3-4 TIMES A YEAR DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM.
PAINT IS VERY WEAK/FRAGILE. EASILY CHIPS AND PEELS OFF.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO COULTER BUICK GMC TEMPE (7780 S AUTOPLEX LOOP, TEMPE, AZ 85284) WHERE THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE ISSUE AND A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE WAS SENT OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE THEN INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO FOUND ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JERRY SEINER CHEVROLET (1990 N PINAL AVE, CASA GRANDE, AZ 85122) WHERE THE CONTACT POINTED OUT THAT THERE WAS WEARING ON THE FRONT TWO TIRES THAT HE BELIEVED WAS RELATED TO THE SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,700.
HARD BRAKE PEDAL. LOSS OF ALL POWER ASSISTANCE. 2017 CHEVY 1500 34K FIRST DID IT HIGHWAY SPEED THEN I GOT IT TO REPEAT AT SLOW SPEED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT WOULD LOSE ALL BRAKES AFTER TWO OR THREE LIGHT APPLICATIONS OF THE BRAKES. VERY UNSAFE I ALMOST REAR ENDED SOME ONE I'M FAIRLY STRONG IT TOOK BOTH FEET PUSHING AS HARD AS I COULD TO SLOW VEHICLE AND WHIP AROUND CAR TO AVOID IF MY WIFE OR SON WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING IT VERY DIFFERENT OUT COME THAN A TRIP TO CHEVY
NOTICED AFTER PURCHASE THAT THERE IS VIBRATION LIKE A BAD TIRE 35-42 MPH. VIBRATION FELT IN SEAT,CONSOLE AND STEERING WHEEL 58-65 MPH. TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFTS HARD SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE BEING BUMPED FROM BEHIND,IT ALSO HESITATES AND JERKS AFTER LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND ACCELERATING AGAIN BETWEEN 25-45 MPH. WHEN ACCELERATING IT SURGES,JERKS AND STUMBLES. SOMETIMES WHEN ACCELERATING THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS AND HANGS IN THAT GEAR UNTIL YOU LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION THERE IS VIBRATION IN THE POWER TRAIN AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEM NOISY. AT 25 MPH IT SHUTTERS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN TO HIGH OF A GEAR UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. RETURNED TO WALDORF CHEVROLET WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND WAS TOLD THEY BALANCED 2 TIRES AND RESET THE ROAD FORCE,SCANNED TRANSMISSION NO CODES TRANSMISSION OK AFTER SHOP FOREMAN ROAD TESTED FOR 21 MILES NO OTHER REPAIRS NEEDED. PICKED IT UP DRIVING HOME NOTICED ALL THE PROBLEMS WERE STILL THERE AND AFTER INSPECTION OF MY WHEELS NOTICED THAT THE WHEELS WERE BALANCED STILL HAD THE OLD WEIGHTS STILL ON THE WHEELS WITH NEW WEIGHTS ALSO. MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT THIS TIME TO HAVE SHOP FOREMAN (RICK) RIDE WITH ME TO SHOW HIM WHAT IT WAS DOING WHICH WE DID AND LEFT MY TRUCK AGAIN. AFTER 8 DAYS I AM TOLD IT WAS READY I WAS TOLD THEY DID A PICO SCOPE TEST AND THE DRIVESHAFT WAS BEING REPLACED THEN ONLY TESTED IT WAS OK. CHECKED RUN OUT ON FLANGES ALL WITHIN SPECS. FOUND THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BAD. THEY PUT STEEL WHEEL FROM ANOTHER TRUCK ON AND ROAD TESTED WITH NO CHANGE. THEY DROVE ANOTHER TRUCK AND IT RIDES THE SAME. EVEN HAS THE SHUTTERS ON HARD ACCELERATION. SAID THEY CALLED GM TAC BACK AND THEY DON'T SEE A PROBLEM WITH THIS. WRITTEN DOCUMENTS BE SENT VIA MAIL. MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT
THE BACKUP CAMERA IS BLINDING AT NIGHT. CANNOT SAFELY DRIVE VEHICLE AT NIGHT. THERE IS NO DIMMING THE SCREEN.
REAR FACING CAMERA CAN NOT BE DIMMED. WHEN BACKING AT NIGHT, CAMERA DISPLAY IS SO BRIGHT YOU CAN'T USE YOUR MIRRORS. YOU CAN NOT FOCUS ON ANYTHING THAT MAY BE ALONG SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE OUT OF SIGHT OF THE CAMERA. I HAVE READ THAT OLDER YEAR VEHICLES HAVE A CAMERA DISPLAY DIM FEATURE.
BACK UP CAMERA ON IN DASH DISPLAY IS EXTREMELY BRIGHT AT NIGHT. THERE IS NO WAY FOR THE DRIVER TO ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS. IT IS SO BRIGHT THAT YOU CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING ELSE AND CAN'T EVEN SEE THE SCREEN BECAUSE IT IS SO BRIGHT!
2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO REVERSE (WHILE STOPPED, FROM EITHER PARK OR NEUTRAL) THE BACKUP CAMERA VIEW APPEARS ON THE DISPLAY SCREEN. THE ISSUE IS WHEN IT IS DARK OUTSIDE, THE DISPLAY IS SO BRIGHT THAT IT BLINDS THE DRIVER. I AM UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDOWS OR MIRRORS. THERE IS NO ABILITY TO DIM THE SCREEN WHILE THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY IS ON THE SCREEN. THE SCREEN IS SO BRIGHT THAT IS TAKES A FEW MOMENTS TO REGAIN NIGHT VISION. WHEN I THEN SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL OR DRIVE (BUT BEFORE THE VEHICLE MOVES) THE REAR VIEW CAMERA DISPLAY IS ON THE SCREEN BUT IT IS DIMMED. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, there were rattling and vibrating sensations coming from the vehicle. In addition, when driving at low speeds there was a thumping noise emitting from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the transmission needed to be reprogrammed. The vehicle was repaired however the failure persisted. The vehicle was returned to the dealer who reprogrammed and drained the transmission fluid. The dealer informed the contact that when draining the transmission, metal shavings were discovered and that it was common. The failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a transmission auto body where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed there was no recall and the repair was not covered under warranty due to being passed the year allowed. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 10,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HUFFINES CHEVROLET (1400 STEMMONS FWY, LEWISVILLE, TX 75067) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRES WERE OUT OF BALANCE AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CLASSIC CHEVROLET (3991, 1101 TX-114, GRAPEVINE, TX 76051) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
SPARE TIRE IS A DIFFERENT SIZE THAN WHAT IS ORIGINAL TRUCK CAME WITH 19 INCH TIRES SPARE TIRE IS A 17 INCH
WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT AND SHIFTING INTO REVERSE THE TAILGATE CAMERA ACTIVATES ON THE DASH DISPLAY AT FULL BRIGHTNESS EFFECTIVELY BLINDING THE DRIVER FROM SEEING ANYTHING/ANY PERSON OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE AS HE TRIES TO BACK UP. THERE IS NO WAY TO DISABLE OR DIM THE TOUCHSCREEN DURING REVERSING.
WHILE UTILIZING THE HIGH BEAM FUNCTION OF THE PROJECTION LIGHTING SHAKE OR RATTLE WHEN TRAVELING OVER BUMPS ON THE ROAD CAUSING A FLICKERING AFFECT OF THE LIGHTS. I HAVE HAD THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY REPLACED AND THE DEFECT IS STILL PRESENT. I HAVE DRIVEN TWO 2017 AND ONE 2018 SILVERADO PICKUPS AND THE DEFECT WAS ALSO PRESENT. THIS DEFECT IS VERY DISTRACTING DURING NIGHTTIME DRIVING AND POSES A SAFETY RISK DURING NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATIONS.
THIS VEHICLE, LIKE MANY OTHERS OF THIS SAME DESIGN, HAS HAD A VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASE ON 9-14-2017. IT HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE DEALER FOUR TIMES WITH THE TIRES BEING THE PRESUMED ISSUE. THE VIBRATION HAS CONTINUED EVEN AFTER DIFFERENT TIRES INSTALLED AND RECENTLY THE VIBRATION CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BEGIN TO DRIFT TOWARD THE EDGE OF THE ROADWAY WHILE TRAVELLING AT 70 MPH IN A 70 MPH SPEED ZONE IN A CURVE THAT WAS NOT POSTED WITH A REDUCED SUGGESTED SPEED. THE TRUCK HAS CURRENTLY BEEN AT THE GENERAL MOTORS DEALER IN DELAWARE OHIO FOR EIGHT DAYS WHERE THEY HAVE VERIFIED THE ISSUE, HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE A CAUSE AND HAVE NOTIFIED GENERAL MOTORS FOR GUIDANCE. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I HAVE FOUND THAT IT APPEARS TO BE A LONG TERM ISSUE FOR THIS MANUFACTURER THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED. BEING A RETIRED STATE TROOPER WHO HAS DRIVEN MANY MANY MILES IN HIS CAREER, I FEEL THIS SITUATION COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL AND CONTRIBUTE TO INJURIES OR WORSE TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. PERSONNEL AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVE CONFIRMED TO ME THAT THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS SITUATION AND THAT SOME TRUCKS ARE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT WHILE OTHERS DEVELOP THIS CONTINUING PROBLEM. THIS VIBRATION BEGINS AT APPROXIMATELY 68 MPH AND CONTINUES TO AT LEAST 76 MPH AND IS FELT THROUGH THE SEAT, ACCELERATOR AND STEERING WHEEL. I DO HAVE SOME OF THE "REPAIR" DOCUMENTS BUT THEY ARE INCOMPLETE AT THIS TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO URKA AUTO SALES IN LUDINGTON, MICHIGAN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT RODENTS HAD EATEN THROUGH THE WIRING HARNESS, A MAIN GROUND WIRE, AND THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BY REPLACING THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS, TWO WIRING HARNESSES, AND A MAIN GROUND WIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,822.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TRUCK HESITATES TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD GET HIT OR YOU HAVE TO PUSH PEDAL HARD WHICH MAKES VEHICLE JERK OR SPIN TIRES, ESPECIALLY WHEN WET PAVEMENTS. ALSO WILL STUTTER AND VIBRATE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. BEEN TOLD IT'S NORMAL FOR THIS TRUCK WITH ITS FUEL SAVING [XXX] FROM 4-8 CYLINDER. NOT SAFE AT ALL. INNER SIDEWALL OF FRONT TIRES ARE RUBBING ON UPPER CONTROL ARMS...TIRES ARE MICHELIN STOCK SIZE...NO MODIFICATIONS...
WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE FOR THE PURPOSE OF BACKING UP, THE RADIO SCREEN ILLUMINATES TO A BLINDING LEVEL OF BRIGHTNESS WHEN THE REAR CAMERA VIEW IS DISPLAYED. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AT NIGHT AND IMPAIRS MY ABILITY TO SEE OUT OF MY WINDOWS. THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT WITHIN THE RADIO SETTINGS TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND THE ROTATING DIAL TO THE LEFT OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING KNOB WILL DO NOTHING TO DIM THE SCREEN WHEN IN REVERSE. DURING NORMAL OPERATION (NOT IN REVERSE), THE SCREEN IS ABLE TO DIM WITH THE ROTATING DIAL WHETHER PARKED OR DRIVING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE THAT IF NOT RESOLVED, COULD RESULT IN DETRIMENTAL IMPACTS TO DRIVING SAFETY, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. IF CHEVROLET/GM COULD IMPLEMENT AN UPDATE THAT WOULD ALLOW A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO PUT A "SOFT" BUTTON INTO THE SETTINGS MENU, I FEEL THAT OVERALL VISIBILITY WOULD BE IMPROVED GREATLY AND TEMPORARY NIGHT BLINDNESS WOULD BE A THING OF THE PAST. WHEN COMING TO A STOP HEARING A CLUNK IN THE DRIVE TRAIN HAD SAME ISSUE WITH 2016 SILVERADO CHEVROLET REPLACED CONTROL MODULE AND CALIBRATED GEARS ON 2016 BUT WHEN I TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 2017 I WAS TOLD THIS IS NORMAL SO WHY WOULD THEY WASTE TIME AND MONEY TRYING TO REPAIR AN ISSUE IN THEIR WORDS IS NOT AN ISSUE IS BEYOND ME, THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALL ITEM BEFROE MECHANICAL FAILURES RESUT IN INJURIES OR LOSS OF LIVES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE ONLY STALLED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE WAS VERY HOT OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE STALLED AT LEAST THREE TIMES PER MONTH SINCE BEING PURCHASED IN MARCH OF 2017. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 8-324-272-3692. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,350.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC OR DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT READ ONLINE THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH 4X4 VEHICLES AS THE TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CAUSE WOULD INADVERTENTLY SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WHEN PARKED WITHOUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. BACKUP CAMERA SCREEN IS SO BRIGHT AT NIGHT INSIDE VEHICLE THAT IT ALMOST CAUSES AN INABILITY TO SEE ANYTHING. APPARENTLY THERE IS NO WAY TO ADJUST THE BRIGHTNESS ON THIS MODEL, BUT WAS AVAILABLE IN EARLIER MODELS
I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Z71 PICK-UP TRUCK SINCE FEBRUARY 2017. SINCE NEARLY DAY ONE, THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED VIBRATION AND WOBBLE LIKE SHAKING NOTICEABLE AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BECOMING MORE NOTICEABLE ABOVE 60 MPH. AT CERTAIN INSTANCES THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO EXPERIENCE A MILD BOUNCING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM FOUR TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF OWNERSHIP (APX. SIX MONTHS AT THE TIME OF THIS SUBMISSION) AND APPROXIMATELY 10,000 DRIVING MILES AND THE ISSUE STILL IS ONGOING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAD CALLED IN A FIELD ENGINEER TO HELP WITH THE ISSUE, TWICE, THEY AS WELL, UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIRES, ROAD FORCE BALANCED WHEELS AND TIRES, REPLACED SUSPENSION BUSHINGS, STEERING GEAR BOX, STEERING BUSHINGS, UNMOUNTED THE BODY FROM THE CHASSIS AND UNBOLTED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, REASSEMBLING IN A DIFFERENT PATTERN, REMOVED CALIPER CLIPS, AND MADE OTHER CHANGES. THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS. FOLLOWING THEIR ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE ISSUE, THE VEHICLE NOW MAKES A CLUNK NOISE WHEN EXECUTING A TIGHT TURNING RADIUS AND DRIVING OVER A SMALL BUMP (SUCH AS A DRIVEWAY APRON). WHEN THE SHAKING / VIBRATION OCCURS, THE VEHICLE FEELS UNSTABLE AND FEELS AS IF THERE MAY BE A LOSS OF CONTROL.
THE LIGHT FOR THE BACKUP CAMERA IS EXTREMELY BRIGHT AND BLINDING AT NIGHT. IT BLOCKS UP YOUR VIEW OF THE CAMERA AND MUST BE COVERED WITH A TOWEL IN ORDER TO SEE WHEN BACKING AT NIGHT. I SPOKE WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO FIX. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH BACKING UP AT NIGHT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE MIDWAY CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (2323 W BELL RD, PHOENIX, AZ 85023) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V645000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.
REAR CENTER SEAT HAS NO HEAD RESTRAINT. REAR OUTBOARD SEATS HAVE HEAD RESTRAINTS THAT MAY NOT MEET MINIMUM SAFTEY HEIGHTS, THEY ARE TOO SMALL AND DO NOT EXTEND HIGH ENOUGH, THEY ALSO DO NOT LOCK INTO POSITION. FRONT CENTER SEAT HAS NO HEAD RESTRAINT. FRONT CENTER SEAT HAS NO SHOULDER BELT, HAS LAP BELT ONLY.
BACK UP CAMERA DOSE NOT DIM AT NIGHT. SO BRIGHT IT BLINDING AT NIGHT.DESTROYS NIGHT VISION.CANT SEE ANYTHING.
AT NIGHT, WHEN SHIFTING INTO REVERSE GEAR AND THE BACKUP CAMERAS IS ACTIVATED, THE SYSTEM CHANGES THE CENTER DASHBOARD DISPLAY SCREEN FROM NIGHT BRIGHTNESS TO FULL DAYTIME BRIGHTNESS. IF LOOKING AT THE SCREEN WHEN THIS HAPPENS, NIGHT VISION IS LOST BY THE GLARE. IF NOT LOOKING AND IN A DARK AREA, IT BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE MUCH OF ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE DISPLAY SCREEN. WHILE THE SCREEN IS SHOWING WHAT IS BEHIND THE VEHICLE, IF A TURNING MOVEMENT IS NEEDED WHILE BACKING, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING BESIDE THE VEHICLE (LIKE CHILDREN) WITHOUT OPENING THE VEHICLE WINDOWS. IF THE DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS WOULD SIMPLY REMAIN UNCHANGED WHEN THE BACKUP CAMERA IS ACTIVATED, THIS ISSUE WOULD BE RESOLVED. THE DEALER AND CHEVROLET ASSISTANCE BOTH STATE THIS IS HOW THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO OPERATE AND REFUSE TO TAKE ANY ACTION. THEY DO STATE THE PROBLEM "MIGHT" BE RESOLVED IN A FUTURE SOFTWARE UPDATE.
MY VEHICLE IS A PICKUP WITH THE Z71 OFF ROAD PACKAGE. I USE IT WORKING ON FARM AND PASTURE LAND WHICH REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE OFF ROAD IN TALL GRASS AND BRUSH AT TIMES. I NOTICED, AND IT WAS CALLED TO ATTENTION, THAT GRASS AND BRUSH WAS COLLECTING AROUND THE REAR AXLE, DRIVE LINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM. I GOT UNDER THE VEHICLE AND FOUND TWO LARGE PLASTIC CLAMPS AROUND THE AXLE HOUSING THAT HAVE A LARGE V SHAPED OPENING FACING THE FRONT OF THE PICKUP. THE CLAMPS ARE CATCHING AND HOLDING GRASS AND BRUSH WHICH THEN BUILDS UP AS THE VEHICLE TRAVELS. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH NUMBER ONE COULD CAUSE A FIRE, CAUSE DAMAGE AND FAILURE OF THE DRIVE LINE AND ENDANGERS MY SAFETY BY HAVING TO CRAWL UNDER THE VEHICLE TO REMOVE THE BRUSH AND GRASS. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW 6/25/17 TO CURRENT.
TRUCK IS A 6 PASSENGER VEHICLE THE FRONT SEAT CAN SEAT 3. MY 13 YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER FLIPPED UP THE MIDDLE CONSOLE TO SIT IN THE MIDDLE POSITION. THE PLASTIC CUP HOLDER BROKE OFF THE CONSOLE AND FLEW INTO THE BACK SEAT. WE WERE STOPPED THE SIDE OF THE STREET IN FRONT OF GRAND SONS HOME LOADING UP 6 PASSENGERS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. MYSELF, WIFE, GRANDSON, HIS WIFE, 12 YEAR OLD GRAND DAUGHTER AND 2 YEAR OLD GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER. WE HAD BUCKLED UP MY GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT IN HER CAR SEAT WHEN THIS CONSOLE BROKE OFF AND FELL ON THE BACK SEAT. THIS IS A CREW CAB VEHICLE AND THE CONSOLE IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND WEIGHS 2.2 POUNDS AND WHAT WOULD THIS DO FLYING BACKWARDS IN AN ACCIDENT.
WEST BOUND HIGHWAY 44 BEFORE THE RAILROAD TRACKS. FEMALE DEER CAME OUT OF NOWHERE AND WAS HIDDEN BY THE A PILLAR, DRIVERS SIDE, WHICH OBSCURED HER SUDDEN CROSSING. SHE HIT THE FRONT, LEFT, OF THE TRUCK WHICH CAUSED THE SIDE-CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYMENT CHARGES ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE, TO GO OFF. BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE ENSUING FORCE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG PLASTIC COVER EJECTING OUT, FORCEFULLY RAMMED INTO ME, PUSHING ME INTO THE CENTER CONSOLE. AIRBAG INDICATOR ON THE DASH INFO SCREEN IMMEDIATELY POPPED UP AS DID AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION OF THE HAZARDS. UPON COMING TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE-AIRBAGS BEGAN TO SMOKE. SMELL IS SIMILAR TO BLACK/GUN POWDER WHICH I ASSUME THE DEPLOYMENT CHARGE IS MADE OUT OF. TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO HOSPITAL. FILED CLAIM WITH INSURANCE. RESEARCH THIS EVENING REVEALS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH OTHER AIRBAGS IN THE TRUCK. NHTSA REF: NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V651000. I'M WONDERING IF MY ISSUE IS POTENTIALLY SYMBIOTIC TO THIS ISSUE. LASTLY, A CHECK OF ANY RECALLS ON MY TRUCK VIA THE MYCHEVY APP AND NHTSA WEBSITE, FAILS TO INDICATE ANY RECALLS AT ALL EXIST ON THE TRUCK.
BACKUP CAMERA TOO BRIGHT FOR BACKIUP AT NIGHT WHILE STILL NEEDING TO VIEW SIDE MIRRORS. IT WOULD BE GREAT TO COME UP WITH A SLIDING "ON SCREEN" BRIGHTNESS CONTROL FOR IMMEDIATE CONTROL OVER THE BACKUP CAMERA ON SCREEN BRIGHTNESS. WAY TOO BRIGHT FOR SAFETY / STILL NEEDING TO VIEW SIDE MIRRORS.
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY TRUCK, I BEGAN EXPERIENCING HARD SHIFTS, GEAR SEARCHING, CLUNKING AND HANGING BETWEEN GEARS. OCCASIONALLY THE SHIFT WOULD BE SO HARD IT WOULD FEEL AS THOUGH THE TRUCK WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND BY ANOTHER VEHICLE OR OBJECT. MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALER HAS RESULTED IN NUMEROUS ATTEMPTED FIXES WITH NO RELIEF OF THE PROBLEM. CURRENTLY THE TRUCK IS BACK AT THE DEALERSHIP HAVING THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THIS IS CAUSING A DEPRECIATION OF THE VALUE OF THE TRUCK AS WELL AS AN UNSAFE CONDITION WHILE DRIVING.
WHEN DRIVING VEH SHIFTS HARD CAUSING A JUMP OR UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION. BROUHT IT TO HUNTINGTON CHEVROLET THEY STATED IT WAS NORMAL. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
WHEN GOING SLOW AND THE TRUCK SHIFTS FROM 1ST GEAR TO 2ND GEAR YOU CAN HEAR AND FEEL A STRONG KNOCK AND IT PULLS THE TRUCK THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHEN GOING DOWN IN GEARS FROM 2ND TO 1ST AT SLOW PACE AND IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT MORE OFTEN THEN NOT IF YOUR DRIVING SLOW LIKE IN A PARKING LOT IT HAPPENS 6/10 TIMES TOOK IT TO THE DEALER STATED NO RECALL BUT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT WERE INSTRUCTED NOT TO DO ANYTHING TO THE TRUCK VERIFIED GOOGLE AND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE
