The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was pulling to the right and the sensor light was illuminated while purchasing the vehicle. The contact stated that the failures were temporary. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle pulled to the right and the rear end of the vehicle felt as though the rear was dragging. The contact stated that there was a metal dragging sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected the vehicle but found no visible failures. The contact stated that the TPMS warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that smoke was coming from the passenger’s side front wheel. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the brake caliper had seized, and the brake line had collapsed. The contact was informed that the caliper and three sensors on the wheels needed to be replaced. Additionally, there was also a leak in the oil line. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the repair was not covered under warranty. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was not available.
My 2017 Chevy Silverado has four General Tires 285/45 R22 114 H installed. DOT HW6T HMW1 on all four tires. We had driven to Ohio from NY over the weekend and on the return trip (about 900 miles into the trip) the air pressure light came on and I noticed the Rear Driver side tire had 23 lbs of air. The leak was slow enough that I was able to drive 2 miles to a exit and stop at a gas station. When I got out I could hear the air leaking from the tire but could not see any visible issue yet. After jacking up the truck and removing the tire that's when I notice the tread was completely splitting away from the tire. See pictures. The tread had split about 3/4 of the way around the tire. Although this tire is not on the list for the recall 21T001000 the defect description matches.
THE TIRES HAVE LARGE CRACKS FORMING IN THE SIDEWALLS. THE CRACKS ARE DEEP AND IT APPEARS MAY RUPTURE AT ANY MOMENT. THE CRACKS ARE WIDE ENOUGH TO EASILY PUT 2 PENNIES IN ND COVER THE TOP OF LINCOLN'S HEAD. NOTICED THIS HAS HAPPENING LAST YEAR, BUT JUST NOTICED HOW BAD IT HAS BECOME.
OUR 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 WAS PURCHASED NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN AUGUST 2017. THE TIRES THAT CAME WITH THE TRUCK ARE CONTINENTAL CROSSCONTACT LX20. I BEGAN TO NOTICE CHUNKS OF RUBBER TREAD COMING OFF OF ALL 4 TIRES WHEN THEY HAD APPROXIMATELY 27,000 MILES. I HAD THEM INSPECTED AT THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WEAR FOR THESE TIRES. THE TIRES ARE RATED FOR 70,000 MILES. I CURRENTLY HAVE 36,500 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND TOOK IT IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND TIRE ROTATION. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO PITTING AND CHUNKING. THERE IS GOOD TREAD LEFT ON THE TIRES, HOWEVER THE RUBBER IS COMING OFF IN HUGE CHUNKS ON ALL 4 TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED TO ADDRESS MY CONCERNS.
FRONT WHEELS SIMPLY JUST PEEL APART IN CHIPS. REAR WHEELS APPEAR TO BE FINE, SO THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH TURNING OR FRICTION ON THE FRONT WHEELS. THE TIRES CHIP AWAY THROUGH OUT THE ENTIRE SURFACE OF THE THREAD, LEAVING VOIDS AND GASHES ON THE SURFACE. WE DRIVE ON PAVED ROADS, SO THERE REALLY SHOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE WITH EXCESSIVE WEAR SUCH AS DRIVING ON ROUGH ROADS. I DID SHOW THIS TO OUR LOCAL DEALER, THEY CLAIM THE VEHICLE NEEDS AN ALIGNMENT, BUT KEEP IN MIND THE VEHICLE HAS UNDER 15K MILES FROM THE DEALER. ALREADY, WE CAN SEE THESE TIRES NOT EVEN COMING CLOSE TO THE WARRANTY THREAD WEAR LIMIT. PER DEALER, NO RECALLS ON OUR VIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MUZI CHEVROLET (56 TV PL, NEEDHAM HEIGHTS, MA 02494, (855) 258-3295) WHERE THE WHEELS WERE BALANCED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,300.
WHEN WE FIRST BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WE RECEIVED THE ERROR MESSAGE: ANTILOCK BRAKES & STABILITRAK PROBLEMS & WHEEL VIBRATED TERRIBLY. TOOK IT IN, THEY SAID IT WAS THE COMPUTER AND FIXED IT. THIS MORNING ERROR RE: ANTI LOCK BRAKE PROBLEM AND NO BRAKE FLUID (PUT IN A WHOLE CAN) AND ERROR TRACTION OFF (BUT WE DID NOT TURN IT OFF) THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE AND WE COULD GET KILLED OR KILL ANOTHER IF THERE IS A BRAKE FAILURE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TIRES BEING WORN, ODOMETER FRAUD AND THE VEHICLE RIDING ROUGH AND MAKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED THAT A FLAP OF STEEL THAT WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED CAUSED A NOISE TO BE HEARD WHILE DRIVING. THE REAR SPRINGS WERE NOISY. THEY WERE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE RUNNING BOARDS WERE ALSO MAKING NOISES. *JS *JS *JS
