I bought a 2019 chevy silverado z71 trail boss a month ago and just bought a camper and went and towed to to a camp ground thous weekend and the transmission headed up to 270 degrees took it in the torque converter was bad and towed it some transmission still getting to 250 and won't shift right and transmission with out the camper still jurks into gear and the brakes when u step on them shutter alot
Transmission slams down into gear when downshifting causing the truck to jerk. My concern is controlling the truck during the violent downshifting.
CEL for emissions evap circuit. Problem part is fuel pump control module. GM has recalled other vehicles over this part and has suggested its failed operation may cause the engine to stall due to the fuel pump shutting off. Currently my vehicles evap system is unable to vent fuel vapors to the engine which poses a safety risk if the pressure accumulates in the tank. I believe GM wasn’t thorough in the recall and only recalled what was absolutely necessary. The part is on back order which points to how common this item fails.
While driving the vehicle on 27 September 2023 the check engine/transmission light came on, and the vehicle down shifted and loss the ability to accelerate, started to drive rough causing a safety hazard in traffic. Took the vehicle to the dealership Southern (formerly Hall) Chevrolet Chesapeake, VA where purchased because I have an extended warranty. Diagnostic was performed, which idendified codes P0776, P0717, P0700. Technician states vehicle is not driveable and needs a new transmission. The vehicle is a 2019 Siverado 1500 LTZ Z71 Crew Cab with approximately 90,290+ miles.
VECHILE CONTINUES TO FAIL OIL CONSUMPTION TEST, TEST BEGAN 09/2023, AND CONTINUES TO BE THE ISSUE PRESENT DAY. ENGINE WAS REPLACED 2025, 3-4 MONTHS LATER TRANMISSION WENT OUT. TRANSMISSION REPLACED 2025. OIL CONSUMPTION CONTINUES TO FAIL. DEALERSHIP CHUCK HUTTON 2471 MT. MORIAH ROAD, MEMPHIS, TN 38115 PERFORMED ALL THESE SERVICES. SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THE LEAKING OIL POLLUTION IS CAUSING HARM TO ME AND MY FAMILY AS WELL AS LEAVING OIL RESIDUE IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO WARNING MESSAGES EXCEPT FOR WHEN IT SAYS ADD OIL, THAT'S WHEN I'M PUT ON NOTICE THAT THE VECHILE IS LOSING OIL. DUE TO THE LEAKING OIL, OIL IS NOW MIXING WITH GASOLINE, INDICATING THERE TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL PUMP. NOW BEIND DIRECTED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. THIS HAS BECOME VERY COSTLY FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AND CONTINUES TO BE AN ON-GOING PROBLEM
MY PURGE PUMP HAS GONE OUT 3 TIMES. I DO NOT OVERFILL MY TANK. THEY HAVE ALSO STATED IT IS DUE TO NO LID ON THE GAS TANK BUT THIS TRUCK IS DESIGNED WITHOUT A LID FOR THE TANK. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAS NOW GONE BAD PER THE DEALERSHIP. THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 121000 MILES ON IT. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE KINDS OF PROBLEMS. I WANTED TO REPORT THESE SINCE THE TRUCK IS NOT THAT OLD SO THIS MAY BE AN ISSUE WITH OTHERS. SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IT HAS JUMPED AT TAKE OFF AND NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN THIS. THE DEALER SHIP ALSO GIVE DIFFERENT ANSWERS FOR THINGS AND DOES NOT SEEM TO KNOW WHAT COULD BE WRONG.
When started vehicle, ECS warning came on dash, slippery drive icon came on dash & Service Power Steering, Drive With Care came on dash. Was unable to steer vehicle as no power steering. Turned off vehicle, checked fluid levels, everything full & no leaks under vehicle. Started vehicle & no warnings and no issue, was able to drive home. Has under 25k miles, serviced regularly & has all original tires/parts from dealer when purchased. I'm the only owner of this vehicle. Have called dealership that does my service & no call back yet regarding this issue. Have not had this issue happen but this one time so far with no prior warning. Anything with steering issues could pose a hazard for the driver & is unsafe. No recalls have been sent out for this either.
Front driver ( PJB9 C21V 0619 ) and passenger ( PJB9 C21V 0419 ) tires are wearing uneven with correct alignment. Severe feathering, rought riding, and loud road noise.
Lifters froze up on #4 piston twice, both times going down the highway. Transmission would jerk after shifting gears, had bad torque converter shudder from 18 mph on up. Can’t pull trailer over 55mph without the whole cab vibrating like crazy
Car seems to be having Same issue it was recalled for previously. It powers on but once pushed the start button it does not start it makes a clicking sound and gives a code it was previously recalled for
Transmission started slipping and shuddering on vehicle with only 72,000 miles. Took to the dealer and they diagnosed the transmission fluid and torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle experienced harsh shifting since new and is a safety issue due to delayed speed, slipping, and hard shifts. There is a class action lawsuit for this 8 speed transmission and GM refuses to fix it. I paid $3,000 out of pocket to have this fixed even though it’s a known. Issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the shift-to-park message was displayed and the alarm was chiming. In addition, the battery died. The driver applied the emergency brake but was concerned about the vehicle moving. The driver was unable to tell if the vehicle was in the parking position. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
I first noticed jerking in my steering two days later the power assist failed. It was almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Luckily I was just leaving my drive. Next time I was in the vehicle the power assist for the steering worked fine, went online and found a video that makes the repair was a body to frame ground strap. This braided copper ground strap from frame to body is located right behind the passengers front wheel. It is subject to salt and corrosion. My vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it and I do have a picture of the failure cost me $10 to repair it shame on GM for putting this critical ground just behind the front tire exposed to salt and corrosion
I purchased this vehicle after my first 2019 chevrolet silverado trail boss's BCM dealined the vehicle after owning it 32 days. The vehicle with VIN [XXX] has had multiple engine failures causing the vehicle to be deadlined at the dealership for in excess of sixty days. The transmission is now failing as well. I am on my 2nd engine failure issue and the dealership refuses to acknowledge the problem. While under engine failure my vehicle would misfire causing the engine to stall and buck around like a wild horse. The electrical system on this vehicle is a complete catastrophe. The windows refuse to roll up once in the down position more often than not, the tailgate intermittently drops and closes on its own, the notifications on the dash always indicate the tailgate is down even when it is in the upright position, the lane change assist and parking detection intermittently work causing faulty detection when backing in/out of parking and changing lanes on the highway endangering the public, and all while these issues persist the "check engine" light never illuminates. Even when my truck had to be towed into the dealership the check engine light never came on. I have had this vehicle sine 43000 miles and now have 115000 miles and every oil change i have done(I am a shop owner and technician) has had metal shavings in the drained oil that has got past the filter due to the IMPROPER engine repair done by BEAVER CHEVROLET when my engine failed the last time. It is best practice to drain all the oil, remove engine from vehicle and replace the oil pump and pickup after cleaning the engine internally while disassembled to ensure no metal contaminants are inside the engine. Chevrolet simply replaces the broken components and doesn't do the proper procedure when an internal component fails, call any machine shop in any city across america and ask what the procedure is when a camshaft or bearing fails in a motor is. It is 100% not what chevrolet did for me. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The truck has shifting issues. It down shiftshard causing the rearwheelks to lock up. vehicles have transmission issues such as shuddering and shaking in higher gears, and hesitation and lurching in lower gears. They also allege that GM told dealers to tell customers that these harsh shifts were normal
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started vibrating and hesitating. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission fluid needed to be flushed and refilled. The torque converter was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 64,000.
Hard shifting, shutter, jerk, hesitation feels like the motor is going to fall out. Haven't had the manufacturer look at it, but it's very annoying and embarrassing.
Transmission will occasionally shift hard, “buck”, jerk and shake the vehicle. Problems also encountered when shifting from reverse to drive, when completely stopped, the vehicle will jerk and shake.
The rear brakes lock up when slowing down. mechanic said its the transmission and that he had seen alot of this in this make and model of truck. The only fix is to clean but that is a temporary fix. The transmission we have is not made anymore. There is a recall in the 2020 model of my truck but doesnt include my 2019 even though it is the 2020 model.
Loss of power/misfire on cylinder 6 Diagnosis is cam/lifters. 8/4/2023 120k miles. Shift to park warning at 60,000 miles. continues. Max speed held to 65mph due to abs system???? for 10 minutes at approximately 90k miles. Park assist failure (complete) at approximately 80k miles.
vehicle experiences a vibration or 'shudder' when accelerating and when maintaining a constant speed. The shudder is coming from the transmission. There could be a safety concern should the transmission fail during operation. The dealer has confirmed the problem and performed a fluid flush. However, the problem remains. No warning lights.
While accelerating vehicle has a hitch and/or grinding sound like the transmission is slipping and/or can’t get in gear.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered upon depression of the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light being illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the torque converter was replaced. Recently, upon exiting a rest stop at 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several messages on the instrument panel. The contact pulled the vehicle off to the highway shoulder and the vehicle was towed to a local dealer. Once at the dealer, a diagnostic test was performed and the contact was informed that the lifters, the camshaft, and the pushrod were all defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was promised a call back, which was never received. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
Transmission failure at ~90700 miles. Transmission failed while driving home from work on US-95 on 26 July 2023, placing myself and other drivers at risk of accident and injury due to vehicle unable to shift gears at higher speeds. This problem was confirmed by Sullivan Tire mechanics, who also spoke with mechanics at McLaughlin Chevrolet, who have stated that they have received vehicles for repair and replacement for the same mechanical failure. I am currently waiting on insurance to inspect this issue. The malfunction indicator light (MIL) did come on the information center at the same time the problem appeared.
While driving home from church the vehicle suddenly lost power steering when making a right hand turn. I had to go into the opposite lane to make the turn. Fortunately there were no other vehicles in the other lane and I was not far from home . There were no warning lights displayed during the incident. When restarted the truck the same day the power steering was working again. The the next day I started to drive out of my drive way and I finally got a message on my dash that said "Service power steering no assist soon". I called to have it service, but cannot get for 2 weeks. I called chevy customer service to inform them of the incident. They suggested having it serviced by a chevy dealership.
Bridgestones Alezna A/S 02 275 / 60 R 20 I was driving on the highway 17 on the far left lane when the tire suddenly blew out and we had to pull over, the entire sidewall of the was blown out we had a spare and a Jack so we were able to change the tire
Vehicle started shuttering then almost slamming from gears and eventually gave out at 97k - Vehicle is still in the shop right now, as I have no other vehicle
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power with the engine misfiring. The messages "Service Parking Brake" and "Service ESC" were displayed. The check engine warning light was also illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that cylinder #5 lifters had collapsed. The dealer informed the contact that the cylinder lifters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the camshaft would be replaced as necessary. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 104,000.
Rear window leak The cracks can be in the left and/or right side of the rear sliding window plastic upper rail glass guide which is covered by the roof rear spoiler. Examples of a left (1), then right side (2) visual crack (with the spoiler removed) are shown in the graphics above.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the vehicle failed to exceed 43 MPH. Additionally, the check engine warning light was illuminated, with the "Service ESC", "Service ABS", "Service Traction Control" and "Service Brakes" messages displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the brake master cylinder and electronic brake module were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,500.
Service Trailer Brake warning flashed then suddenly lost power steering which nearly caused a crash. Vehicle was taken to dealership and a corroded Grounding Strap caused the complete loss of the electrical power steering system.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while parking the vehicle, the gear shifter was shifted into park(P); however, the “Shift to Park” message was displayed. The contact shifted the gear shifter back and forth and then shifted into park(P) before the proper gear was recognized. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the shifter cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 44,000. The VIN was unavailable.
Transmission slips, into 2nd i believe. Hard shifts, shuddering and shaking at intermittent speeds. Also missed shifts and dtc triggered in performance mode. Started happening last year, 2023, progressively becoming worse overtime. Last summer is when it didn't shift and set off multiple codes that had to be cleared to be able to operate normally. Dealership stated since codes had been cleared they couldn't do anything about it, so nothing was done. (I can still find the codes with my personal code tool)
The pickup shifts violently in and out of overdrive and than into second and than overdrive all while driving down the road at 55 mph and the rear end locks the tires up some times and the whole truck vibrates really and this power Tran problem is getting worse everyone I drive it and it's not safe to have any passengers or my kids in it anymore and it feels like the transmission is going to disintegrate at any moment because and if it does the transmission is going to lock up and than its going to cause a car accident ..PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THIS TRUCK CAUSES A ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM ..IM JUST THINKING ABOUT MY KIDS SAFETY AND OTHER FAMILIES SAFETY ON THE ROAD ...FROM A CONCERN PARENT ..
Vehicle is in the shop getting repaired under warranty for a defective transmission valve body. Chevrolet is not able to get the part and it has been two weeks. Almost had an accident on trying to come to a stop and the transmission failed.
Started the truck and we have multiple service errors on the screen Service ESC Service 4wd drive Steering assist is reduced
Currently own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Texas Edition Z-71. Transmission continues to hard shift / lunge in forward and reverse. The transmission has popped so hard, on multiple occasions that I was convinced that someone had hit me from behind and had to pull over. The downshift is occasionally so hard that it that you jerk forward out of the seat. In October of 2022 the downshift at 15 mph made me lose control of my truck and utility trailer, sliding me into a small tree causing over two thousand dollars in damages. The suspension is also extremely shaky and any rough terrain makes the vehicle uncontrollable even at low speeds. I have almost had 3 additional accidents because of loss of control in rain and snow. The suspension is also noisy when you first drive with a grinding / rubbing sound. Vehicle has been in for service for these issues on more than one occasion and I have been told they cannot find anything wrong. I have had a transmission code in the past that eventually turned off. A quick internet search shows these all to be known issues and Chevrolet refuses to address of repair these major safety issues.
The wiring harness of the vehicle was placed too close to the frame and began wearing the wires down until they broke. Once this happened, the vehicle turned off while driving and would not restart for a few minutes. The vehicle would turn off repeatedly every few minutes leaving me stranded in the middle of the street until I could get the truck to turn off and restart. There was no warning on when the engine would shut off, it just happened randomly while driving and while in park.
Transmission hard shift and downshift also has a torque convertor shudder it also has high transmission temp the coolant temp on the dash is above the middle point have been to the dealership multiple times they state everything is normal transmission problem can cause a safety issue on the road if truck doesn’t shift how it’s supposed to.
There is a vibration that is randomly felt. Over the last year I have replaced struts shocks control arm control arm bushings sway bar link sway bar link bushings tires twice and the vibration just keeps increasing to the point it's doing it now when I turn or take bends in the highway. There is now a flat spot in a tire feel when going it slower speeds to be added to the vibration that happens later on obviously related. This is either from my understanding going to be axle or driveshaft it's going to get looked at today since there's nothing left underneath to repair. This has ruined a pair tires I bought last year for $1,500 in September and probably well on its way to ruining the tires that I've just put on last week for $2,400. There is a hesitation a lack of response and a vibration. As far as the electrical goes it makes this very weird buzzing sound very randomly it's only happened about four times it's loud and it can't be explained. Also sometimes the radio and the AC just turns on and there's no key in the car and I've had the door open for a few minutes. Sometimes after turning it off he'll turn everything off but turn it all back on again no key in. Sometimes I can turn the stereo off and it makes a whistling buzzing sound and it's not even on. As far as any light indicators on the dash for any of this no never had a one. I have completely taken care of this vehicle with the transmission flush and will changes and everything that it's supposed to have and I put a lot of money in it since I've had it in a year but I shouldn't have to on 2019 and it's still experiencing the same problems and I have plenty of documentation. As far as date of occurrence it's been continual and random since I bought the truck in June of 2023 from a local dealership called Lokey
Started truck in morning and service brake assist was displayed. Called dealership and was told ok to drive probably just a brake pad sensor. We were on vacation so kept driving, drove around Colorado Springs brakes seemed different but ok. Proceeded to drive up pikes peak just past 10 mile mark instrument cluster light up and chiming. The dash had service engine light, traction control, and brake light on. Instrument said brake system failure 43mph top speed, service esc, service trailer brake system and service brake assist. Was not using brakes as was climbing mountain. Proceeded to pull over and called dealer again. Was informed can’t really do anything as that far away and try disconnecting the battery. Did that and nothing changed. Proceeded to drive down mountain and contact local dealer. Drove truck in limp mode to dealership. The were able to get truck in and diagnosed internally leaking master cylinder. Master cylinder has to be replaced as it has failed. Truck has 63000 miles on it. This is a major safety item and should not of failed with this low of mileage.
The transmission jerks when shifting or just driving as you’re accelerating and as you’re at cruising speed, the transmission has a shutter that creates a vibration through the truck. My safety was put at risk as I did not know if the transmission was gonna fail as bad as the truck was shaking. The dealer reproduced the same problems that I was having. Said the fix was to change out transmission oil with the new transmission oil. Had to pay for a flush and filter at 56,000 miles. There were no warning lights coming on for the vehicle. Just the shattering of the transmission.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The local dealer was contacted, and the vehicle was diagnosed, and it was determined that the purge valve and EVAP system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was determined that the fuel pump control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
We are experiencing Vehicle shuddering and or shaking when accelerating and Jerking while shifting the vehicle. Originally discussed with dealership during routine oil change and thought that it was possible connection with the auto stop/start so no further action taken. Problem has worsened to now affect ability to tow trailer and or use vehicle. Vehicle has already had engine replacement at 41k due to engine oil coolant line failure. Current mileage at 86k. We do not feel comfortable driving the vehicle at this time so it is parked awaiting service appt with dealership.
I've had continued issues with components that are electrical . The interior electrical items go wonky, radio touch screen will blink back and forth between two screens for several minutes. Sometimes the sir and radio will just turn on with no key, this is random. It will also turn on off then on again after removing key. The ac has begun to randomly stop working(, blowing cold or at sufficient correct speed) all these occurrences are random, have been checked, unable to duplicate or correct. Bigger more serious issues . The steering and loss of power and hesitation in transmission. My steering went horribly bad. It was replaced and it's still bad and the power module in new unit is bad.. again waiting for s new tech and pinion. (It's been ridiculous with the strike) the steering for several months has been extremely sloppy causing the truck to wander and it's very unsafe. Over the last couple months there's a hesitation when stepping on the gas. As well as a loss in power while driving and far too much gas is required to get it going. The truck purrs when idling but it's losing power. I've stayed on top of the maintenance.. I've had everything checked. These electrical issues have become more than annoying. They are now unsafe, becoming very expensive and have resulted in my having to rent a vehicle. I see there have been many complaints over steering, transmission and electrical. It's time to do something about these unsafe issues
The contact's business owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while an employee was driving approximately 60 MPH, there was an abnormal sound detected. The engine cooler warning light was illuminated. The contact pulled over and drove about five more miles. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil cooler line had detached. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that the repair was not covered under warranty. There was no additional assistance provided. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
*What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?- drive transmission while driving at a low speed 25mph or less I stopped at a stop sign and preceded to go while accelerating the truck started to go and immediately stopped moving forward with a high rev on the RPMs I checked to see if maybe the truck died but it was still in drive I put my hazard lights on and shut the truck off thinking for some reason it shut off when starting again immediately did a high rev when trying to accelerate with the gas pedal now this happened for about 10min I a high traffic area I proceeded to push the truck out of the way with the help of some kind strangers, I waited about 20min till starting the truck again and regained drive i went back and forth momentarily only to have the same thing happen again. I had to leave my vehicle in my work parking lot and have my wife drive 1 1/2hr away to pick me up. *How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - I had no indication on my dash of any check engine lights luckily I was only going a slow speed and was at a stop sign when the incident happened I obscured a heavily traffic area and I had to push the vehicle to a safe position. *Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I have yet to get this to a dealer, I currently had towed to my home. *Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No warning lamps This vehicle has 80,000 plus miles is used as a family/every other daily driver I have not hauled anything but a vintage trailer that's well within its towing capability I have no warning lamps to even indicate a problem is occurring at this time.
Truck does not recognize shifter position of park, will not turn off properly. No wat to tell if transmission is safely in park. Does this about 50 percent of the time. This has to be a safety issue. A dealer in Arizona says that on model of the Chevy Silverado it is a regular issue. I would think this should be a safety recall item.
Lifter randomly went bad while driving down highway. Safety concern is being put into low power mode on an interstate and vehicle running rough. No warning lights and perfect performance before it happened.
While traveling at a high rate of speed one of the Active fuel management lifters failed. This caused a misfire in one cylinder also damaging the cam shaft. The engine was stuttering and running very poorly at higher speed. Luckily it did not cause a complete engine failure and I was able to safely exit the highway and make it to a garage. The repairs totaled over $5900. This is a known problem with the AFM system and continues to be ignored by GM. Under different circumstances this could be potentially a very dangerous situation.
