My 8 speed transmission jumps out of gear randomly. Sometimes when I'm trying to pass on a 2 lane road at which time I am forced to hit the brakes and get back in line behind the vehicle I was trying to pass. Or after have stopped at a stop light or stop sign and I'm attempting to make a turn. At which time it will sometimes jump out of gear causing me to be stuck in front of oncoming traffic. It's getting worse and the GM dealer can't do anything about it.
Several Thousand of these vehicles are experiencing engine/ lifter and transmission failure which can cause accidents and death. There was a class action lawsuit filed against GM and it needs to be offered to all owners of these affected vehicles.
Water leaking from the rear windshield into the vehicle. Large amounts of water into the housing for the rear seatbelts, which is concerning for damage to the seatbelts. There are concerns for mold and electrical issues as well. This is a known issue from Chevrolet and needs to be addressed.
Engine failure at 86370 miles while driving down the highway. Towed to Sullivan Tire, mechanic found 2 bad cylinders and the lifters had destroyed the cam, requiring a total engine replacement. This mechanical failure of the engine was sudden and unexpected, placing myself, my children, and other drivers at risk of injury on a very busy highway (MA-24). Discussing this with the mechanic (Sullivan Tire), this malfunction has been confirmed by a GMC certified dealer and service shop (McLaughlin Chevrolet) that there are several other Chevrolet/GMC vehicles that GMC technicians and third-party technicians that are reporting have had the same mechanical failure in the engine. I am unaware if this has been inspected by the manufacturer. It has only been inspected by third-party technicians at Sullivan Tire in Bridgewater, MA. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
Engine oil cooler lines detached from crimp. Took my Truck (chevy silverado 2019) to dealer on Friday May 12, 2023 for an oil change and state inspection. Monday May 15th, 2023 while driving a warning STATING OIL PRESSURE LOW TURN OFF VEHICLE message flashes . Truck was towed bk to Chevy dealership. Dealership states there is a recall on engine oil cooler line but my VIN was not included. Chevy dearlership says this happens all the time lately with the same make and model. Picture shows zero damage to the crisp or oil line. It will just spontanously break off while driving.
Trailer brake service indication comes on constantly and cannot see speed use the radio or make a call. Already have changed the switch that they say is the problem, did not fix issues. Other mechanics on the internet are saying it's a wire harness between the switch and the module this needs to be replaced due to poor quality. We'll have a professional mechanic assess this but it looks like it's a common problem across the board. Please get GM to issue a recall on this because it becomes a safety issue, distraction and not able to read speed. Thanks
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed low speed, the rear wheels seized. No warning light was illuminated. The failure occurred on two separate occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, no error code was retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but confirmed that there was no recall associated with the VIN. The contact related the failure to Customer Satisfaction Program: N192272400 (Rear Wheels Lock at Low Speed); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.
The vehicle started jumping when switching gears or when accelerating from a stop. The drive shaft ended up separating from the transfer case, lost 3rd gear in the transmission, and blew the 8th cylinder in the motor. I am seeing that this is a common issue with the year, make, and model. Yet not all that were affected were actually included in the recall from 2020. We luckily were not in an accident from this incident however, this has cost us well over $10,000 in repairs. This issue needs to be addressed and GM needs to fix this problem. This could cause an accident.
On my 2019-Chevrolet Silverado 1500, the ball joint in the front upper control arm broke and caused the wheel to separate from the truck while driving. The truck is available for inspection where I had to have it towed to the dealership repair center. Fortunately, no other vehicles were on the same road as me when it happened, and I was on a local road not going very fast, but it could have killed me and others. It most definitely put our safety at risk. Because of a faulty control arm causing the ball joint to break, it also broke my CV Axle, Tire Rod End, cut the brake lines and ruined the tire and wheel. Because the brakes did not work, I am fortunate the tire/wheel on the ground helped the truck to stop. The dealership says there is no GM recall so it is not covered and NHTSA Recall 21V718 is not real which I never received a notification about either. We are waiting on insurance and dealership to complete the full inspectection with an estimate and they too agree I am lucky to be alive. There were no warning lamps or messages. This must be addressed with GM immediately before more people die from this faulty control arm.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the vehicle had stalled. After restarting the vehicle the check engine light had illuminated and the vehicle would not operate in first gear. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and no service was performed. The vehicle was retrieved and the failures reoccurred. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer who diagnosed that the engine wire harness was damaged while robbing against the engine components and the harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000.
I had known transmission problems resulting in $5974 repairs. I consider this an extreme safety issue. Had the transmission failed in heavy traffic, it would present a dangerous situation for both me and others near me. This is a known issue by GM, nothing is being done to correct this problem.
The front driver side upper ball joint broke. I was going down the highway at 70 miles an hour, pulling a trailer when it broke, I was lucky to keep it on the road. It ruined the rim, tire, brake lines and CV boot. Just fortunate there wasn’t a car next to me or we would’ve hit it and nobody died, especially with my young son in the car. Also when I got it towed the tow truck driver said he picked about the same year truck up three weeks prior for the same issue a broken ball joint on the driver side. In my opinion they should not be an issue with a newer truck with only 42,000 miles on it. This is a huge safety concern and has done a lot of damage to the truck and cost me a lot of money especially being six hours away from home when it happened.
GEAR SLAMMING INTO LOW GEAR FROM DRIVE, JERKS, WILL NOT COME OUT OF LOW GEAR. WARMING LAMP COMES ON. HAPPENED 3 TIMES WITHIN 3 MONTHS.
The torque converter fails prematurely at 100k miles cause driver to be left stranded and left with a 5k-10k bill to fix it.
I was on my way to work and I stoped along the side of the road to help with a car accident. After helping the person and the ambulance arrived I went back to my truck. when I got in it everything was on but I noticed that it was quite and that’s when I realized the truck was not running anymore. I tried to turn it on and off but nothing happened besides all the dash stuff came on. It had been making a ticking noise but it would go away after a certain speed. After the engine would not turn on I had a friend that is a certified Chevy mechanic take a look and he told me the engine seized. It took 2-3x the torque to crank it over and when he was able to do that he found lots of metal shavings in the oil. I been out of a vehicle for almost 2 years now because of this issue.
Engine Oil cooler line failure but my VIN was not part of recall but just experienced the issue, https://gmauthority.com/blog/2021/06/gm-releases-fix-for-2019-chevy-silverado-gmc-sierra-over-oil-cooler-lines/
First drive of the morning, it jerks when shifting from first to second, took it to the dealer and they said that it’s normal, I know it’s not normal because it doesn’t happen all the time and tou can feel it bad when it does
Back up camera fails, and a collision follows. The camera keeps flickering and going black all the time. I ask the dealer and was told that if the factory warranty expired, nothing they can do. Also the infotainment system is failing, turn off then on, or freeze if temperature is cold. Same answer from dealer
Rear Window Defroster Thermal Events. Using the rear windows defroster you can hear arching and smell electrical parting making bad or lose contact. I have found other truck from the same year, doing the same thing. NHTSA has a letter from the other truck and suvs in that range. But some how this truck is not on the list for recall.
Since Purchasing the vehicle, I have taken it to the dealership due to the transmission feels like it is slipping or buckling and not wanting to shift each time they told me there is no issue with the vehicle. This vehicle was purchased in 2019 and has a little over 22 k miles.
Hard shifts, slipping and shuddering during shifting.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and accelerating from being idle, the vehicle aggressively started jerking and the vehicle lost motive power. The contact coasted to a safe place and waited before attempting to restart the vehicle to continue driving. The vehicle occasionally restarted immediately, and other times took a long time before restarting. The contact also experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle was shifted into neutral to decelerate. The contact stated that the failures occurred without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the transmission and lifters had failed. The six lifters were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The lifters were replaced a second time, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer, who then diagnosed that the radiator fluid was leaking into the engine. The engine was replaced. The failure persisted, and the TCM was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The wiring harness was replaced for the second time. The failure persisted, and the vehicle was returned to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 10,000.
While I’m driving the truck will start jolting and driving rough. When I looked at the dashboard it said that the parking break is on. This has occurred on several occasions now. I have never used my parking break in this truck because I live in an area that is pretty flat.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was in for maintenance at the local dealer, the contact was informed of a potential oil leak in the oil cooler lines. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact took the vehicle to another local dealer: Lighthouse Buick GMC (100 W Jackson St, Morton, IL 61550: (309) 938-4190) where the vehicle was diagnosed with needing the oil cooler lines and unknown hoses to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with Customer Satisfaction Program: N2121326940; however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,800.
The rear windows leak because of a faulty window seal. This is a widespread issue that some people don’t even notice until truck is out of warranty and dealers want $700-$1000 to fix. The issues causes water to enter the cab, mine had water going into seatbelt areas that could damage mechanisms inside and cause seatbelts to not operate properly in a crash. As well as cause mold and other issues inside the cab. The company knows of the issue and has made a bulletin for how to fix. This needs to be a recall as it is affecting most trucks. Customers should not have to pay for this fix. This is a factory defect in materials used. Whatever they used to seal the window, cracks and alloys water in. I don’t know how long this has been leaking but probably well before warranty ran out I just now noticed it because truck usually stayed dry. Only noticed because the headliner was wet and water was dripping from seatbelt area. I only have 26000 miles on a 2019
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, while accelerating from a stationary position, the vehicle shuddered while accelerating. Additionally, while decelerating, the vehicle erroneously lurched forward. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who reprogrammed the TCM, and changed the oil which temporarily corrected the failure; however, the failure reoccurred. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 41,000.
The upper spring loaded fuel cap spring broke falling down into the fueling area. I believe it is constitutes a safety issue when fueling, trying to get the pump nozzle in to the fuel in area to fill the tank. My worry is a spark with this broken unit in there, May cause an explosion, and injuries
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle experienced a loss of power of steering functionality. No warning lights were illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the vehicle had not been repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The VIN was not available.
Transmission cut out while pulling into traffic
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, he noticed that water had leaked in the rear interior cab and at the rear sliding window. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
Driving and the steering will jerk and comes up svc esc and service back up camera.Back up camera flashing on display but will not stay on .dealership said it was a battery issue so they changed battery and with in 7 miles from dealership almost hit oncoming car due to steering going out. Happen out of no where so it really hard to drive
While driving started making a ticking noise. Stopped the truck, to see if we could hear it again. Put truck in drive, check engine came one along with service park brake and esc warning lights; we were on a highway with minimal room to pull off. The truck started to shake at about 55 miles per hour. Made it home and took to Chevy dealer on Monday morning. Informed that the lifter went bad, in turn damaged the camshaft. After having the truck all week, total repairs topped out at $10,500. This is wrong especially when I searched internet and GM is well aware of this issue when no regards to safety of drivers.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while slowing for a traffic signal and coming to a stop, there was a jolt as if the vehicle had been crashed into in the rear of the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle also hesitated and then jerked into gear while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent but reoccurring. The contact stated that the "Transmission Hot - Idle Engine" was displayed. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who advised that the transmission failure was a known failure but that the manufacturer had not provided a remedy. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was unaware of a warning light being illuminated. The contact stated that the failure persisted upon turning off and restarting the vehicle. The contact stated that the power steering functionality returned after resuming driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred intermittently, and the failure occurred mostly while driving in 4WD Mode. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure via email, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 18,000.
The touch screen controller is constantly going haywire. It’s very distracting while operating the vehicle. The screen will switch from maps that you are following by itself to the radio, home page or just freeze. The radio can’t be controlled, the Wi-Fi and satellite systems switch on and off at random. There’s many complaints listed on the internet about the issue. GM wants $675 to replace the system on a 4 year old vehicle.
Vehicle would stall unexpectedly while driving. Had to pull over (coast to stop) and disconnect battery in order to get pickup running again. Dealership eventually found broken/corroded wires in main power harness to ECM. Appears to be related to GM service bulletin 21-NA-149.
Lifters need replaced and screen comes in and out
> What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - This has happened about 5 times over the past 2 years when we come to a complete stop and Auto-Stop is turned on. So far it hasn't happened with Auto-Stop off, so it's an assumption that this is part of the issue. We come to a stop, the engine powers down (Auto-Stop) but all battery-powered features remain on. When we go to accelerate, everything completely loses power. It has taken up to 5 minutes to power back up. When this occurs, all we can do is open the door if it's unlocked - there is zero power to any part of the vehicle and there are no noises coming from anywhere. The vehicle is available for inspection on request. > How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - The vehicle loses all power. We cannot turn on hazard lights, brake lights to alert others in traffic that we're unable to move or start the vehicle. If there was a need to move the vehicle quickly, we would not be able to do so. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - No, they're never able to reproduce the issue despite reporting it at least twice on service visits. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - It has been inspected by the dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - Not before it happens, but after the vehicle finally starts up, the dashboard message indicates we should roll the driver's window down and back up again. The date of the incident is the last reported instance.
On January 28, 2023, my Chevrolet Silverado was involved in a significant multi-impact collision. At the time of the accident, I was a front-seat passenger and my vehicle was fully stopped when it was struck from behind at high speed by a Dodge 2500. The force of the rear impact pushed my truck into the vehicle in front of us, resulting in a secondary front-end collision. This sequence occurred twice. During the collision, the front passenger-side airbag did not deploy, and the front passenger seatbelt failed to lock. As a result, I was thrown violently within the passenger side of the vehicle and struck my head on the dashboard. In contrast, the driver’s seatbelt locked properly, as did the rear seatbelt where my child was seated. Due to the failure of the passenger-side seatbelt to lock, I sustained a severe concussion, a black eye, and other injuries. The vehicle was subsequently inspected by my insurance company. When sheriff’s deputies and state police arrived at the scene, they expressed concern and surprise that the passenger seatbelt did not lock and that no airbags deployed despite the severity of the collision. Shortly after the accident, I contacted GMC regarding these safety concerns. GMC retrieved the vehicle’s Crash Data Recorder (CDR) and conducted an investigation. I was later informed that GMC found no defects or issues with their products. Nearly three years have passed since the accident, and I remain deeply concerned and dissatisfied with GMC’s conclusion. The passenger-side seatbelt did not function as designed, while the driver and rear seatbelts did, and no airbags deployed. I do not believe adequate accountability or explanation was provided regarding the apparent failure of the passenger-side restraint system. Given the force of the impact, I could have been ejected through the windshield.
In my 2019 Chevy Silverado, I experienced an oil leak in my garage. I have never had a leak since I purchased the new truck. I took it to the dealership, and they notified me that my engine oil cooler hose assembly was leaking and needed to be replaced. I asked if the truck was safe to drive and I was informed that it was. I was driving home from work when the warning chimes began, and a message on my screen said to pull over immediately due to a loss of oil pressure. I looked at my oil gauge which was already at zero. I pulled over as quickly and as safely as I could and shut off the engine. There was smoke coming from the engine compartment. I called my insurance and then a tow truck. The tow truck driver asked if this was a 2019 Silverado, I said yes, and he said that he has seen this before in other 2019 Silverado trucks. As well, the dealership also mentioned that they have seen this before.
I was involved in an accident on one 2623. My vehicle was struck. However, my airbags did not deploy. Also, the diagnosis code did not show in remains faulty
2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO TRAIL BOSS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARD TO TRANSMISSION ISSUES. THE CONSUMER STATED IN ADDITION TO THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES, HE ALSO WANTS TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE UNNECESSARY REPLACEMENT OF ROTORS, THE DIAGNOSTIC OF THE SES LIGHT DUE TO MISCOMMUNICATION ABOUT THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER, AS WELL AS THE ROTATION OF THE VEHCLE TIRES.
The issue described in this report below could lead to engine failure causing the vehicle to stop suddenly or crash. The other issue could be a large quantity of oil spilt on the Highway. This needs to be a recall. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2021/MC-10200186-9999.pdf
My vehicle has a rear window leak. The dealer looked at it and said this is a common problem with the new body styles. Dealer confirmed it is a crack in window seal and window frame. Although there isn’t any immediate safety issues. There may be long term including mold that passengers will breathe in and also the water leaks down window on the interior and creates streaks and hard to see through rear window if not cleaned often. GM knows about this issue and has released a technical service bulletin (Chevrolet TSB 18-NA-383)
Transmission is slipping and can’t drive too dangerous. This is a VERY expensive repair for such a new type model. I have read several complaints about this model having transmission problems. I currently have 130000 miles on speedometer so the warranty is no longer good. RIDICULOUS so many 2019 models are having this issue and GM is not correcting the problem. Have owned several GM vehicles. This will be my LAST!!! [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
When turning off the vehicle, the DIC gives an indication of Shift to Park warning. After a few minutes the beeping and warning would turn off. Started happening at 62,000 miles. Dealer looked for it April 18, 2023, could not duplicate the problem.
Car is having issue since day one I bought it in 2019. Transmission is making a weird noise when shifting. It shakes when car is accelerating and in low RPM around 1.2 to 1.5 especially if car is driven with the load or up the hill. Car is making this stumping noise when car is decelerating like when attempting to stop on traffic light or stop sign, like the engine is going to go out so loud. At the dealership they told me if it’s not doing it constantly it’s normal. I will take it to the dealership this week again, it is really behaving bad lately . Car does have 53 thousand miles on it.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the transmission was intermittently failing to shift between gears with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact became aware of TSB 21-NA-149 (Engine Wire Harness Chafing). The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 58,800.
