Leaking oil cooler lines that had a customer satisfaction campaign but it’s over and now they are leaking.
engine Failure
as i was driving down the highway the engine warning light came on and engine quit running immediately so i began to pull off of the road but couldn't get all the way off so it was sticking out on the highway i did put in park and checked oil level which was good, so i was going to try to push vehicle off the road more because there was semi-trucks and other vehicles going by at a high rate of speed but the shifter would not shift unless vehicle was running. so for the safety of my wife and myself we had to stand off into the ditch for about an hour waiting for help hoping no one slammed into our vehicle and there was some close calls. after getting the truck back to my home i then trailered it to a repair shop called Eagle Chevrolet in Chadron Nebraska where i was told the bearing in the engine had spun and it is very common on the engine in my truck which is an 6.2 L87 ENGINE and there is recalls on the same engine but only for the year 2022 and up and mine is a 2019 and was given a quote for Repair which is over $10,000.00
engine shut off while driving ,and would not start again .upon inspection from gm dealer they stated the high pressure fuel pump. cam shaft and lifters need to be replaced ...there was no sign of failure prior to shut down
One day when headed out of town I stopped and got gas immediately once getting back on the highway my dash lit up like a Christmas tree, driving became uncomfortable as it sputtered when trying to give gas. I looked up a couple of the dash warning lights and it alluded to emission problems. I take the truck to the mechanic and he says that a head is cracked and the cam shaft needs to be repaired. This issue came out of nowhere, no prior issues as far as over heating or any dash lights on.
My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L engine developed a severe tick, misfire, and rough idle at only 93,000 miles. This was diagnosed as a collapsed AFM lifter on Cylinder 2. GM 5.3L AFM lifter failure is extremely common in these trucks and causes sudden loss of power, misfires, and unsafe driving conditions. This is a known widespread defect, yet GM has not issued a recall. The failure happened without warning and required major engine disassembly. This should be investigated as a safety and reliability issue.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while in reverse(R), the back over prevention camera displayed a blue screen with the message “Camera Service Required” displayed. The failure was intermittent at first but became a permanent failure. The sensor for the hood latch displayed the message that the hood was not closed, even though the hood was securely closed. The contact stated that the remote starter failed due to the hood latch sensor failure. The contact was unsure if the two failures were related. The dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the failures were not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse and depressing the accelerator pedal, the power steering failed to operate as needed. Neither a dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V175000 (STEERING); however, the VIN or the model was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
Component/System Failure and Availability for Inspection: While driving at 70 miles per hour on the interstate, the vehicle suffered a complete loss of oil pressure. The engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle simultaneously stopped operating. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This failure posed a severe risk to my safety and the safety of others. The sudden and complete loss of engine function at highway speed could easily have resulted in a serious accident. I was fortunate the incident occurred in an area that was not heavily populated at the time. Under different circumstances, this failure could have led to life-threatening consequences. Reproduction/Confirmation of the Problem: The issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but the nature of the failure was sudden, significant, and left the vehicle inoperable. Inspection by Others: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but it remains available for review. Warning Lamps/Messages/Symptoms: The only indicator prior to the failure was the immediate illumination of the engine light as the oil pressure dropped. This warning appeared at the same moment the vehicle lost power and stopped operating, leaving no opportunity to respond before the vehicle was disabled. Numerous comments and complaints with the same issue. Cust Satisfaction N212326940, does it take someone getting injured or dying before this administration makes the compnay do the right thing?
While driving "No Oil pressure" alarm went off on my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. I had to immediately pull off to the side of the road, upon inspection the Oil cooler line separated at the crimp joint. This is the exact failure mode as described in "N212326940 - Customer Satisfaction Engine Oil Cooler Lines Detaching from Crimp". I have my truck at a GM dealership and they said my VIN is not included on the TSB. I also contacted GM Customer Service and was told the same that my VIN was not effected by this issue. My failure is the same mode as the documented issue, it has to be related to part quality issue as described on N212326940. The GM dealership is charging me $2000 to replace the line.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the “Low Oil” warning light was illuminated often, and the contact was adding oil to the vehicle every 2 weeks. The contact became aware of Customer Satisfaction Program: N212326940 (Engine Oil Cooler Lines Detaching from Crimp). The dealer was contacted, and the contact was provided with an estimate of the cost for replacing the coolant lines. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 94,300.
Purchased new and service maintained. At 65,000 miles all warning lights came on and truck began to misfire and lost power. Was taken to a garage where it was determined to have bad lifters and camshaft. Warranty just expired and now it needs a new engine

1. engine/transmission 2. while driving and acceleration vehicle stalls/hard shifts. The truck was running just fine one day then the next day upon starting the truck, Vehicle warnings for "service" Parking brake system and ECS started showing up and the truck started running rough, smoking exhaust, smelling, and the air conditioner went out. all at the time/day. 3. An independent service center provided a diagnosis that stated the "motor was shot" oil was getting passed the rings/seals and entering cylinder 6.
The vehicle, 2019 Silverado with 6.2 Liter engine only has 72,000 miles on it and when I was driving it, it slowed and went into a limp type mode. I could not go to speed. I had the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet Dealership, they indicated that the Camshaft is broken, at least one lifter and rod is bad. It is less expensive to replace engine. After research it appears this is a known issue and the manufacturer is not addressing it.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50-55 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power and started sputtering. Chevy Silverado 2019 6.2 liter engine malfunction causing reduced power and transmission shifting issues Vehicle speed suddenly reduced while driving 55mph. Took to independent mechanic to investigate, he states failed lifters in valve train causing missfire of cylinders. Have since taken vehicle to St. Clair Chevrolet dealer in St. Clair Mi. awaiting their investigation and solution. Several different service lights and warnings taking place at time of failure while driving and when the vehicle is shut off and restarted.

The main frame of the truck is rusted so badly I can poke my finger through it. Body shop says they don't consider it safe to drive.
Transmission is shifting and shaking and vibration funny whines when driving and hard shifts makes clunking noises when shifting or down shifting. Engine ticks very loud and loses power
While Driving without a Trailer attached to the truck or anything plugged into the Trailer plugs on the truck, the "Service Trailer Brake System" continuosly flashes up on the Dash and chimes even after mutiple "Dismiss" attempts it still comes back.
When attempting to park the truck and shut the engine off, a message appears on the dash stating that I should "shift to park". I have already made the shift to park but the system will not allow the electrical system to shut down. A loud beeping begins, door locks remain open and inoperable, the vehicle is then unsecurable and the ignition remains open/on which in time will run the battery down. Disconnection from the battery will stop the drain on the battery for this particular event but will not cure the problem nor erase data that has sometime worked on complex computer controlled devices. I refuse to allow my wife to take the vehicle to park at any location for fear of her safety to secure or lock the vehicle and, in the event she would have to vacate the vehicle it would increase the possibility of theft of the truck. GM has recalled other makes of their products for the same problems which I understand was also reported to NHTSA and has also suffered litigation in the form of class action suits which was won by consumers in the states of Tennessee and Ohio. After consulting the dealership with the complaint, I was instructed that GM has not issued a recall for these trucks which experience the same problem as those they were required to recall and repair. The costs for such repair by the consumer is unreasonable and unwarranted by reasons that this is a manufacturing AND certainly a SAFETY problem for the consumer. Their disregard for safety and quality control has been demonstrated continually as research in this matter and other complaints of GM problems are and continue to be numerous. This vehicle is IS out of the normal warranty range. However, just as the problem with the brakes that suddenly failed just after the warranty expired on this vehicle which was also a major safety problem, extensive testing of GM safety performance is not a priority but rather they ship it out the door to consumers and just see what happens. Thanks you for your time. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I have been hearing noise coming from the rear of the engine or front of the transmission. I took it to my local shop and they said it appears to be coming from the transmission and that I should take it to a Chevrolet shop because their is a service bulletin (PIP5996A) that describe what I am experiencing. They gave me a copy of the service bulletin and it covers many models and years of the Silverado. I called to make an appointment with Chevy and they said my Silverado is not associated with any recall, so this service bulletin does not apply. I don't understand how it does not apply when my make and year is listed on the service bulletin.
The valve body for the transmission failed. While driving the vehicle transmission would shift violently. This would cause the truck to jerk forward a few times before engaging the next gear. At times it caused a slowed performance and could have caused an accident with another motor vehicle especially when traveling uphill. I brought the truck to a chevrolet dealership and they confirmed this issue. I also completed online forum and general searches through google which confirm this is an issue especially with the 4 cylinder and v6 engines. The check engine light came on when the issue first occurred. The issue happened a week after my catalytic converter was replaced under warranty in July 2025.
Passenger side lifters have failed, along with camshaft. The induced misfire caused a sudden and potentially unsafe jerking of the vehicle while on the expressway. The vehicle was on cruise control and running at 1,400rpms at the time of the failure. There were zero warning lights or vibrations/noises that could have indicated an imminent failure. Thankfully I was alone on the expressway at the time of the incident as the vehicle started bucking, jerking me out of my lane until I could regain control. Vehicle had 105,500 miles with all engine maintenance up to date prior to incident. Speed limit on this section of US31 is 75mph.
I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT and I am having issues with the transmission bucking, hesitating, slipping. I am also having issues with the variable timing system. The variable timing system started acting up last year and when I took it to the dealer they replaced it and I was charged over $400 for it to be repaired. It happened again the beginning of this year and I took it back to the dealer. They told me the oil was dirty and suggested an oil change to fix the issue. I had the oil change done and now I am having the same problem again and have already had the oil changed. I need help since I am paying for a vehicle that is sitting in my driveway not being able to be used. There are 6 codes that have popped up including the variable timing system, cylinder 4 misfire, brake system, and I'm not exactly sure what the other ones are.
Took it to Chevy dealer for oil cooler lines to be replaced I have been in touch with gm since my truck wasn’t under any open recalls to try to get some of the money back for the oil cooler lines since gm has had a big problem with them losing oil
Vehicle transmission harsh shift and failed to shift gears. Feels as though I’m pushed forward when accelerating. Harsh clunk coming from the transmission. Transmission flush done at the dealer. Was told transmission needed a new valve body, part was on backorder and there were 25 similar trucks ahead and waiting. Several transmission related codes have also come up. 58000 miles.
Component or system failed- Lifter in the 4th cylinder - 4 different times. Safety - Driving down the interstate, when the lifter goes out the truck slows down in limp mode and causes safety issues for myself and vehicles around me. Problem has been fixed 4 times, now waiting on a BRAND-NEW MOTOR that is on backorder for the foreseeable future. NO WARNINGS WHATSOEVER.
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the vehicle with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the failure was an internal engine failure; however, the vehicle was not officially diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,500.
The transmission does not shift smoothly. It actually will lurch forward after a stop at a sign or traffic light. It hesitates upon acceleration. I find it unerving and possibly dangerous. It was fixed by the dealer on October 22, 2024 and was good for 6 months but has started to do the same thing again.
I went to drive my truck and it would start but I got a “ service power steering no assist “, service rear vision camera, service trailer brake system. Then it wouldn’t start and got the “ lost communication with fuel pump control module, back up camera was flashing in and out and license plate lights would flash with turn signal on.
During acceleration my vehicle had a whinning noise coming from near the transmission. It will buck and then when slowing down to a stop it bucks like being hit in the rear by another vehicle. It also shudders and makes the reduce engine power light come on.
Bought my truck with 29,000 miles on it. Was making a noise in rear tire. Took it in and it was the break calilper. Dealership wanted $1500 to replace it a week after I bought it. Stated that it was not covered. After a week of arguing, they did not charge me for it. Around 40,000 miles, every once in a while, it would feel like I was being rear ended when I came to a stop. It was not often, but around 55,000 miles, was more frequent. I took it to the dealershp at 62,000 miles and they said that it was a torque converter and would not be covered. Fixed it at a shop $2700. Lifter and Cam in the UP of michigan $5000. Oil lines at 110,000 $700. Torque converter again at 130000, and now lifter and camshaft again at 145,000 miles. I feel that GM should back their product. I had a 95 Chevy Silverado that I sold with 360,000 miles and never had any issues except fot transmission at 250,000 which is expected. I have all receipts showing proof
On 7/2/25, I was driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado on the highway and felt like there was a slight loss of power. I then noticed the Service parking brake, service ESC and the check engine light came on. I was going up a hill and had to move over to the far right lane and drive very slowly on the highway because of the engine problem. I was able to get off the highway without incident. I immediately took the truck to the Chevrolet dealer where I purchased it since it was very close. The dealership later inspected the truck and found the lifters had seized and caused damage to the camshaft. They said I would need a new engine at a cost of around $15,000. There were no warning signs or problems to indicate I was going to have an engine failure. The instrument warning lights came on when the engine problem occurred.
Was driving on the highway, heard loud bang followed by a violent metal-on-metal slapping or knocking sound, and a sudden loss of engine power. Came to find it was crankshaft/connecting rod issue that is common in these vehicles. Have a picture of the broken rod and am waiting the get it repaired.

GM says my Vin was not part of the recalls, The Vin wasn't the problem,It was the Transmission!!! letter I sent to GM : Transmission Failure on 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Dear General Motors Customer Assistance, I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the complete failure of the 8L90 transmission in my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. I have been a loyal Chevrolet customer and have always trusted GM vehicles for their reliability and performance. However, the recent catastrophic failure of my transmission—resulting in both internal and external damage—has left me extremely disappointed and financially burdened. This vehicle, equipped with the 8-speed 8L90 transmission, began exhibiting harsh shifting, delayed acceleration, and shuddering well before the failure. Despite regular maintenance and proper care, the transmission ultimately failed and "blew up" both internally and externally, rendering the vehicle undrivable and in need of complete transmission replacement. Upon further research, I discovered that numerous owners of 2015–2019 GM vehicles with the 8L90 transmission have reported similar issues, and multiple class-action lawsuits have been filed citing systemic defects in this transmission design. Though no recall has been officially issued, the volume of complaints and the existence of internal Technical Service Bulletins (such as TSB 16-NA-019) suggest GM is aware of the ongoing problems associated with this transmission. Given these circumstances, I am requesting that General Motors stand behind its product and assist with the full cost of replacing the failed transmission. I am prepared to provide documentation including service records, a technician’s report on the failure, and photos of the damage if needed. Please let me know how GM intends to proceed with this request. I would appreciate a prompt and fair resolution to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] VIN # [XXX] Current Mileage: 114850 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
