In 2024 there was a recall for the tailgate locking mechanism - We did not receive that recall - but the part went bad causing the battery to drain - and it had to be repaired. We had to pay for the service $500.00 - We I asked the dealership about this recall they said it did not include my vehicle. But it was indeed that part that went bad. I lease the truck - I had every intention of purchasing after the lease - I am over the miles and was told it was out of warranty. I certainly would not complain about paying for it - but there was a recall last year for said part. Could some please reach out to me regarding this - Thank you
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 65–70 MPH, there was an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact attempted to pull over to the shoulder of the road, but the vehicle lost automotive power. Additionally, the engine had seized. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not inspected. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. In addition, the contact stated that the gear shifter failed to shift to neutral. The failure had occurred while driving on a busy highway and created an unsafe driving condition. In addition, the contact stated that New York State Troopers assisted with the traffic control. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.
Transmission has jerked/bumped in past and now at approx 85K miles, it supposedly needs a new transmission. I've heard it is a pretty big issue and seems llike relatively low mileage for this to be happening to 2023 year model. I certainly don't drive it hard and rarely tow or haul heavy loads.
Onstar isnt working the clock wont stay on time the telematics control module went out on a brand new truck just past the 36,000 mile warranty
I'm reporting a 5mpg fuel economy reduction immediately following the 6.2L L87 engine recall (NHTSA #24V795000). I use 93 octane and monitor my fuel mileage consistently. I bragged about my fuel economy in my 6.2l until after the recall was applied. This is going to cause a financial hardship as I'm on fixed income after Servicing 29 years in the Army and 100% disabled. There is no other reason my mpg should have changed as my driving habits have not.
At cold start vehicle often required several seconds for the transmission to engage before moving. After traveling at highway speed (45+ MPH) vehicle began to make clunking noise as if the transmission were changing gears but it was not and the RPMs on the tachometer did not change. Instances became worse and more frequent over 6 month period, vehicle never displayed any codes and no notifications or check engine/transmission lights on driver information center. Took vehicle to O’Fallon Buick GMC and was advised torque converter and transmission valve body had failed and needed replaced. I inquired about ongoing issue with this vehicle based on my findings online and was told it was not a recall issue at this time. Truck has 74,000 miles and service records for all maintenance to date.
One day the trucks transmission started to struggle to find the next gear after taking off from a light. The next morning it did it again and that night did it a third time. The third time it about brought the truck to a stop at 30 mph and made a bang noise, in which a check engine light came on and a message saying speed limited and drive with caution. The truck only has 20,000 miles and already is having transmission issues, which is just unacceptable.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 MPH, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle continued to lose power with a huge cloud of white smoke coming from under the hood. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact pulled off to the shoulder of the roadway, and the vehicle shut off unexpectedly. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and was diagnosed with engine failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the engine failed after the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The message "Hot Oil Shutting Down" was displayed. The contact coasted to the side of the road, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500.
Tailgate opens on its own after parking truck. No buttons inside or on the key fob are pressed and the tailgate randomly opens. Caused the battery to drain as well.
Vehicle shut off while driving. Dash codes said low fuel and low voltage. Tank was full and driven twice that same day for a combined 20 miles. No wrongs of failure
While driving on the freeway without warning, my engine stopped working. My vehicle was towed to the Chevy dealership where they confirmed that I was the latest victim of the ongoing engine failure problem with the 6.2 L engine. There was no warning, no sign that I had a problem. My engine just simply stopped working on a busy freeway. I was barely able to make it to the shoulder where I had merging traffic coming on the freeway behind me. I’m deeply concerned that Chevy will replace it with the same faulty engine and I will be put in the same danger situation again in the future.
I am reporting another engine failure on the 6.2L L87. This engine passed the initial recall testing and the oil was changed to 0W40 on September 30, 2025. However, my engine in my 2023 LT Trail Boss started knocking on Friday, March 20, 2026 (at 22,500 miles) after I picked up my children from school. Thankfully it started as I pulled into my driveway with them so they weren’t in any danger. No loss of power on the truck or warning lights visible. However, it was loud enough and odd enough for my [XXX] olds to even notice the sound in the cab. It was dropped off at the dealership on that Saturday morning and the GM dealership was finally able to look at it on Wednesday, March 25th and confirmed what was expected. The advisor stated the engine will need to be replaced due to the engine heading towards bearing/crankshaft failure. I am still currently without my truck as of today (April 4th) with no repair date in sight. I will say that the dealership service advisor has been very good about communicating about its status. However, he stated that he has had no luck finding an new engine and is unable to give a timetable in getting one. He did offer to start a PO for a rental car through enterprise. He stated they are not giving loaners, but could get a rental car. He also stated that it would not be a truck due to GM only giving $50 per day towards a rental. So here I sit currently without my truck. I see multiple reports about the engines being on back order and even the replacement engines are failing within the fist 500 miles. Some reports indicating they are on the third or fourth engine. Something needs to done about getting these trucks bought back by GM. They have clearly failed with this engine and are replacing the failed engines with the same thing! It is a well documented manufacturing flaw and design! I am thankful it occurred near my home. I would not have been happy with a catastrophic failure on a highway with my [XXX] old children in the truck!! The vehicle is currently exhibiting a loud, rhythmic metallic ticking/tapping noise from the top of the engine. This is a known precursor to a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power as documented in GM Service Bulletins PIP5847A and PIP6101. The cause is attributed to manufacturing debris within the hydraulic valve lash adjusters, which prevents proper lubrication and causes valvetrain desynchronization. This defect leads to severe engine misfires (DTC P0300), "Reduced Engine Power" mode, and potential engine seizure. 1. Component/System: The 2.7L L3B Engine Valvetrain / Hydraulic Lash Adjusters. The vehicle is available for inspection. 2. Safety Risk: The audible ticking indicates imminent mechanical failure. This defect causes sudden and unexpected loss of motive power at highway speeds. Driving in this condition puts me at extreme risk of being stranded in active traffic or losing power while merging/passing, creating an immediate risk of high-speed rear-end collisions. GM is aware of this debris-related defect via TSBs but has not issued a safety recall to prevent the resulting power loss. 3. Dealer Confirmation: Yes, confirmed by Chevrolet dealer on 3/18/26. The dealer knows about this particular issue, and decided not to act. 4. Inspection History: Inspected by authorized Chevrolet service technician. 5. Warning Symptoms: Loud metallic ticking/clacking that increases with engine RPM. This is a known precursor to a sudden, catastrophic loss of motive power as documented in GM Service Bulletins PIP5847A and PIP6101.
Valve body in the transmission failed while driving on the freeway, all of a sudden it was like the car was in neutral and the RPM's went to redline. Dealer is telling me it is a known issue and has no idea on when they will be able to get parts because they have been on backorder forever. Says that they also have to replaced the Transmission Control Module (TCM). same thing no eta on parts. If this is a known issue why have they not recalled them. Fom what I see on line this failure is happening a lot to people, hence the unavailability of replacements parts.
Tailgate unexpectedly opened when driving. Switch on and off when parked and drained battery
Driving at highway speeds the message center prompted us to restart the truck and put itself into neutral. Upon attempting to do so, the message center read conditions not correct to shift. We were traveling in a single lane highway thankfully on a decent where we coasted into a parking lot. The truck list all power steering and brakes. We turned the truck off and attempted to restart. Lights were randomly flickering on and off, but the starter couldn’t turn the engine over. After 3 hours of waiting on Chevrolet roadside assistance we obtained our own tow service. The truck tires had seized up causing the driver to drag the truck into the flatbed. The emergency brake kept resetting itself. The following day 7/13 Chevrolet had the truck towed to the dealership. On Monday 7/16 we were informed the engine had catastrophic failure with less than 24k miles. This is the second major engine breakdown as the first was at 5k miles where one side of the engine had collapsed lifters. Engines are on back order but in reviewing other experiences the replacements experience the same issues. The truck is not a safe vehicle to drive.
2023 1500 RST 6.2. Recall was done and performed last year. Truck passed so they changed the oil and sent me on my way. I have had zero issues up until last week. My gut tells me the replacement is going to be the same engine with the same failing parts that I already have so expect I may have issues in the future even after the new engine. -on interstate going 55MPH, went to accelerate to 70MPH and throttle did nothing; no rpm,no down shift, no speed change. Just dead. Suddenly the truck shut off the engine and kicked my transmission into neutral. I tried to restart the truck hoping it would fire just long enough to get me to a safe zone with no luck as the starter would turn but nothing from the engine. Mind you this was rush hour in a construction zone with no shoulder available at the moment. Luckily I coasted, got to the slow lane and was able to veer off safely onto the side of an exit ramp. No notice, no way to safely limp my truck, just a complete shut down. How this isn’t a lawsuit or more people haven’t been seriously injured or worse is beyond me- a total shutdown while driving highway speeds and no way to overcome or at least limit the speed for a short period is unbelievable. Even though warranty is now through 2033/150k miles for the powertrain due to the recall, and I’ve also thought about adding 3-4 years extended for bumper to bumper with all the tech, I now have ZERO faith in my truck or my safety once I get it back. I’m sure the trade value will also be considerably low due to the 6.2. I’ve owned Chevys for 12 years and am either going back to the 5.3 or switching brands altogether. Possibly a 5.7 hemi without etorque.
The Def guage does not work properly. After topping off with DEF the guage would not register being full. Also the guage would read over half full and within minutes I would receive a notification that the truck was going into limp mode due to be out of DEF. Happened several time while on a trip. Also truck went into limp mode while DEF was full.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and it was determined that the engine had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 41,100.
RE: FORMAL COMPLAINT–RECALL FRAUD & VIN TAMPERING SUBJECT: Falsified Recall N252494000 & 18 U.S.C. § 511 Violations VEHICLE: 2023 Chevy Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ) INCIDENT: March 7, 2026 FROM: [XXX] | [XXX] I am reporting severe Federal Recall Fraud and VIN tampering by Kunes Auto Group (WI). GM records and physical evidence prove Kunes falsified Safety Recall N252494000 (L87 Loss of Propulsion) and sold an illegally rebuilt wreck with mismatched VINs. 1. Falsified Recall: On 4/9/2024, Kunes logged a PicoScope Inspection marking the recall "Passed" (Trans #XX-XXX). The NHTSA remedy requires installing a 0W-40 oil cap/flush. When the engine seized on 3/7/2026, it still had the factory 0W-20 cap. Kunes billed GM for a safety remedy never performed. 2. Concealed Defects: Despite the "Closed" recall, the truck exhibited L87 defect symptoms. I brought it to Kunes three times (Oct 2025 - Feb 2026). They dismissed the warnings and released the truck as safe. 3. VIN Fraud (18 U.S.C. § 511): The 2023 truck has 2025-stamped frame/axle parts. Holz Motors (authorized GM) blacklisted it on 3/6/2026 (RO #1583470), stating in writing: "DUE TO... MISMATCHED VINS DOOR TO DASH, SALVAGED REAR AXLE... HOLZ WILL NOT BRING THIS TRUCK IN." 4. Highway Failure: On 3/7/2026, the L87 motor suffered total Loss of Propulsion at 70 MPH in traffic. The sudden loss of power steering/braking nearly caused a multi-vehicle fatality. REQUESTED ACTION: 1. Audit Kunes’s PicoScope data for the 4/9/2024 transaction. 2. Investigate remedy fraud (missing 0W-40 cap). 3. Investigate tampered/mismatched VINs and off-the-books rebuild. 4. Sanction dealer for fraudulent safety certifications. I declare under penalty of perjury these statements are true. The adaptive cruse control will apply the brakes driving, it happens when driving and there is nothing in my lane as far as the eye can see. Sometimes the Silverado will go from 70 mph to 30-40 or less and back to 70. Most of the time it will apply the brakes for a sec and then off. One time it locked up the brakes from the low 60 ish MPH to almost stoped before I could get control. Every time this happens there is no cars, or abstractions in my lane. I have had the Silverado into 2 dealers for this problem about 25 times and they can not fix the problem and I have been told that they are done working on it and they can not find the problem and I will have to live with it. I don't fell safe driving it and have told that to them. I have asked many time to have a GM Engineer look at my Silverado and find the problem and they did nothing to resolve the problem. I need to a get this problem addressed before I cause an accident or am in one. I also have many other problems that they cannot resolve, The Blind spot mirrors light will go off all the time with nothing there or a car will pass on the left side and both the left and right mirror lights will go off. The Bluetooth will disconnect from the Silverado and the person I am talking to can hear me just fine and the call is no longer over the speakers in the Silverado it is on the ear piece of my phone and then will go back to the speakers on the Silverado. I will get an alarm that says "Take Wheel" with hands at 10 and 2 on steering wheel looking straight ahead. Get an alarm that have trailer light problem and will turn on blinker and it will flash quickly for 10 seconds and then is normal. Radio skips on FM, AM, XM, MP3 Player at times. The Silverado has spent over 4 months and 25 times at a dealer since I bought it new and they have nor been able to resolve any of the problems and I have been told by GM that they are done working on this truck and they can not find the problems. Thank You
Battery keeps going dead 4 batteries in 4 months think it is caused by power tailgate release
The vehicle lost power and went into limp mode on 3/3. I had it transported to a dealership and they said there was metal containments in the motor. I got it back on 3/17 and they said all was well but it never drove right. It broke down again on 3/20 and the said the throttle body was out. Why had they not found this issue before? This seems to be a recurring issue with this model truck.
The Forward Collision Light Glitched out and I had to reset the fuse to get it back. The orange light stayed on until I fixed . The truck is only 3 years old and only has 017314 miles on it.
On [XXX], my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT caught fire while parked in my residential driveway at [XXX] . The vehicle had been started approximately 10 minutes earlier using the factory-installed remote start system. The vehicle was unattended at the time. My neighbor noticed the vehicle on fire and called 911. The Andover Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. The fire department indicated the fire appeared to be electrical in nature. The fire appeared to originate in the dashboard and steering column area based on visible damage and fire progression. The vehicle had approximately 60,000 miles and was properly maintained. There were no prior warning lights, messages, or symptoms before the fire. The remote start system was factory-installed and not aftermarket. The vehicle is currently available for inspection by insurance, manufacturer, or investigators at [XXX] . The vehicle is likely a total loss due to the extent of the fire damage. This incident posed a serious safety risk as the vehicle caught fire spontaneously while parked near my home. The fire could have spread to my residence or caused injury if someone had been inside or near the vehicle. The fire department responded, and an official fire report is pending. Insurance claim has been opened and inspection is pending. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
This truck has a 6.2 engine that was recalled, inspected, and made the switch to the new oil, but then failed. I believe you already have a recall query rq26001 related to this matter. I received the recall notice July 2025, took the vehicle to Covert Bee Cave in Austin, TX July 2025. They told me it passed inspection and put the new oil cap on. Within two weeks I began having transmission issues. I left the truck with them for three weeks and they could not do anything about the transmission. The transmission issue did not reappear until a couple of weeks ago. I took it to Capitol Chevrolet and they replaced a shifter rod in the transmission, but I am not convinced that was the issue as it still shifted rough. Just a couple of days later, before I could take it back to have Capitol look at the transmission, and while driving on an Interstate south of San Antonio, TX, the engine slowed down, flashed a warning "Oil Pressure Low Turn Vehicle Off" and it continued to slow. I was barely able to exit the Interstate, the truck stopped and would not restart. I had it towed to Vara Chevrolet in San Antonio ($440 tow expense) and it still would not start. The technician finally inspected it a few days later, said the engine is seized, and they will need to replace the entire engine, and that it is covered under warranty (there was plenty of oil in my engine). He did not say anything about the transmission. I believe this is an example of my vehicle passing the recall inspection, changing to the new oil, and the engine still failing - and at a very dangerous time on the interstate.
At 29k miles, truck was receiving an oil change and general maintenance. Metal flakes were found in the oil and small shaving in the bottom of the drain bucket. Vehicle was sent to a GM dealership to be tested. Engine passed pico test even though metal was present in the oil.
Valve body went out while driving, drastically reduced speed, threw code p0747.
My engine completely died, and a complete loss of propulsion happened. My safety was put at risk due to no power while on busy highway. This problem with L87 engines (6.2) has been reported extensively. The vehicle was inspected for GM Program # N252494000, NHTSA 25V74 for above issues and was inspected on 2025-08-28. Inspection passed, but the failure ultimatel happened on 2025-02-25. Dealer indicated engine was covered under original powertrain warranty and GM would send a remanufactured engine. Dealer has still not received the engine as of Monday (2/23), which is almost a month later. While driving on a US highway in a rural area, my engine suddenly died while driving approximately 60mph. The restart engine light came on, and I quickly was unsure what was happening as I felt myself slowing down slightly after realizing I had no power and the engine would not restart. I believe it went to neutral automatically. I was in the inside lane, and it was incredibly dangerous due to traffic around me. I could not easily exit to side of road due to the traffic, but luckily a gap formed, and I was able to abruptly get off the road. I have kids in the car daily, and this would have been life threatening had it happen in any other scenario, or especially in a larger city or busier highway. I am confident this is related to GM's issues with the 6.2 liter engines. I have a 2023 Silverado 1500 ZR2 that this happened to. The loss of propulsion is clearly due to the defect in these engines.
Purchased 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 with 6.2 L engine in November 2025 with 3400 miles on it. According to the dealership the engine passed the recall on 09/25. At 6,500 miles the check engine light, ESC light, stability control light came on. Engine was running rough, degradation of engine power, and very rough transmission shifting. Vehicle was taken back to purchasing dealership and was told the lifters and rods will have to be replaced.
Loss of engine propulsion while traveling down a highway towing a #5000 trailer at 65 mph. Less than five miles before the failure the vehicle experienced a momentary downshift of the transmission such as you would experience while climbing a hill or extreme headwind. No warning lights were present at that time or at any time prior to engine shutdown. Upon failure panel indicated "Press Engine Start" and transmission indicated "Park" though we were rolling/coasting at over 60 mph. Realizing that we had lost propulsion I guided the vehicle to the shoulder and stopped. Solid check engine light on at this time. Depressing the "Start" button while stopped would not start or crank over the engine. Boost box would not crank engine, slight noise from starter as if unable to turn engine over. Called tow truck, Seewald's Towing in St. Ignace, MI. Towed to nearest Chevrolet dealer Wheeler Motors Cheboygan, MI.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Glass sunroof blew outwards driving 60mph on the highway. No other vehicles were around and I did not see anything impact the vehicle. The glass was broken outwards and created an 8” by 8” hole in the sunroof glass. There was no extreme temperature differential, approx. 55 degrees outside. It has been repaired and not available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? It sounded like a gunshot inside the truck, causing extreme distraction at highway speeds. Luckily the interior shade was closed and caught the glass, but if it was open all of the glass would have fallen on the passengers. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No the dealership did not consider it a manufacturing defect. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Insurance inspected the vehicle and it was covered under a glass claim. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No indication prior to the incident at all. It happened out of nowhere.
The contact owned a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while he was driving at an undisclosed speed, the engine sounded rough and ran rough. While driving at 75 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and started losing power. The contact pulled over and there was one more loud bang before the engine was blown. Additionally, there was an abnormal failure with the transmission. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); however, the VIN was not included in the recall repair. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a blown engine, and transmission-related fault codes were retrieved. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,924.
My onstar telematics system has failed. I lost all connectivity with onstar and have no vehicle crash detection, communication and onstar based safety feature available anymore. I took the truck to the dealership and they identified the telematics module as faulty and needs replaced. The onstar system buttons are off and will not turn back one and have been off since 2/18/26.
Tailgate opening automatically
Engine failed, started making noise and was shutting off, engine was locking up.
CONCERN OVER 6.2 ENGINE FAILING WHILE IN CONGESTED TRAFIC
My truck took my truck to Austin and back. Woke up the next day. Started it at approximately 4 o'clock in the afternoon and had engine oil low alert. Got out check the oil in my truck and there was none on the dipstick with the truck off of course. Checked at two other times allowing the dipstick to stay in for three or four minutes. Still no oil on the dipstick. Did not drive truck any further. Truck has the 6.2 L and I had the recall applied to the truck on December 8. The truck has 88% of the oil life remaining according to the truck.
My husband was driving on Plank rd/rt 219 towards Ebensburg PA when the truck started to buck and he turned off the main road and it shut down. It would not start just said low battery. I had it towed to the garage we use. They just confirmed it is the engine it locked up. I had the inspection for the recall and had the oil changed prior to this happening.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the message “Reduce Acceleration – Drive with Care” was displayed. The vehicle was driven to the residence with an abnormal rattling sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
On 1/24/26 I used the remote starter to warm up the truck and it started but within 3 minutes it shut off. The temperature was in the single digits. So I tried the remote again and it wouldn’t start. And the remote start hasn’t worked since and the check engine light is on. Two years ago when the brake module failed right before that recall the temperature was very cold that day too. Just two months ago the check engine light came on and that time the dealership said the battery failed . It also printed out a whole page of errors , at the dealership.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the failure was associated with a coolant sensor failure; however, it was unknown whether the dealer had repaired the vehicle. The dealer then informed the contact that the vehicle was safe to drive. However, while driving 65-70 MPH, the engine overheated and the vehicle stalled. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road, and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The failure was initially related to a coolant sensor, and the dealer advised the contact that the part was ordered; however, upon following up, another technician advised the contact that a digital multivalve was ordered. The contact stated that upon returning to the dealer, the dealer advised the contact to sign the service documents. The contact stated that after insisting on reading the service documents prior to the signature, the dealer provided the documents to the contact; however, the dealer later snatched the documents from the contact while the contact was reading the documents. The contact stated that it was unknown whether the vehicle was serviced. The service manager later informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired because the contact and the dealer could not come to an agreement. The contact informed the dealer that the vehicle should be repaired under the warranty. The vehicle was picked up from the dealer unrepaired. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the dealer's denial by the dealer to repair the vehicle. The manufacturer informed the contact that there would be a follow-up with the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
On 1/21/26 traveling on a 4 lane divided highway, vehicle stalled, several warning lights came on and vehicle came to a complete stop in driving lane. Vehicle locked in park and could not put vehicle in neutral to push it out of highway. Several vehicle swerved to avoid and until tow truck came blocked a lane. It was about 3:30pm fortunately. So vehicle was visible and no accidents to our knowledge occurred. Thai created a dangerous traffic situation. It was caused by a fuel pump control module Whig was repaired 2 days later at local Chevy dealer. We were advised there were no recalls on this part but it is a common problem. GM should somehow find a solution and repair said problem
Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing to formally report a safety-related defect involving the power unlatching tailgate switch on my Chevrolet 1500 truck and to request that this make and model be added to the current safety recall affecting Chevy HD vehicles. The power tailgate unlatching switch malfunctioned and would repeatedly attempt to open and close the tailgate while the truck was parked. On one occasion, this occurred continuously overnight. The following morning, my key fob was completely unresponsive, and the truck had zero battery life. The battery would not accept a charge, and the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership. Upon inspection, the dealership confirmed that the battery had been fully depleted and permanently damaged due to a short in the power tailgate switch. The faulty switch continuously drew power as it attempted to actuate the tailgate, ultimately destroying the battery. This failure created a serious safety and reliability concern, leaving me stranded with a completely inoperable vehicle. Given that this issue resulted from an electrical short and caused total battery failure, I believe it represents a significant safety defect. Based on the similarity to issues addressed in the current Chevy HD safety recall, I strongly believe this make and model should be included in that recall. I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed and addressed to prevent other owners from experiencing the same hazardous situation. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. I look forward to your response. Sincerely, Charles Senn
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle started to lose motive power. There were several unknown warning lights illuminated, and the message that the vehicle would not exceed 55 MPH while driving. The contact stated that after driving for several miles, the message appeared that the vehicle would not accelerate to 30 MPH while driving. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the DEF tank heater needed to be replaced; GM Part Number: 85856213; however, the part was on a national back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
I am sending this email to report that my 2023 Chevrolet Silverado had its rear brakes lock up momentarily on consecutive days (1/13/26 & 1/14/26) driving 70-72 mph. Each occurrence came on without warning and only lasted a brief moment, but locked up hard enough for my rear wheels to screech and slam me forward in the truck, thankfully there were no other vehicles near me. I took the truck to the dealership first thing in the morning on 1/15/26 to be informed later that day that the truck didn't show any codes. The service department at my dealership contacted the TAC Dept. at GM and they determined that the problem was caused by the brake light wiring from my truck topper (that was after they asked if the customer had added any accessories to the truck). I have had the topper for 3 years without any issues. I reached out to the company that installed the topper and the owner said that GM is giving me the run around and trying to point the blame elsewhere. He himself has installed 100's of toppers and they follow the wiring instructions from Leer Toppers. He did a 30 second Google search and said [XXX] , the problem you have experienced is well documented online, GM knows what the problem is with your truck". My truck was at the dealership for 5 days before they released it to me, even after I told them that there are known and documented cases of their trucks experiencing momentary rear wheel lockups. I have called GM Customer Service twice and left messages regarding my truck and TAC # and haven't received a return call. I am fearful that when this happens again and if it does so in the wrong place at the wrong time the end of this story may be tragic. If I was pulling a trailer, driving on ice or in rush hour traffic I can't imagine the outcome. GM knows they have a serious problem and they is comfortable in releasing a dangerous truck back onto the roads. My vehicle was part of the recall N25494000 L87 Engine loss of propulsion. Vehicle went in for recall on Sep-30th 2025, PicoScope Inspection was done and vehicle passed. Oil was changed to 0W 40 with new oil filter. Dec-26/27 of 2025 vehicle started stalling, for no reason but no Engine light. The dealer said there was no problem because there was no engine light, so there was no way to find out what was wrong. January 11th 2026 vehicle lost propulsion 7 times on the freeway, vehicle had a hard time re-starting and started smelling oil burning smell. Vehicle Engine light stayed on, 1/11/2026 vehicle was running a little rough with abnormal tapping noise but made it to the dealer for inspection.
The motor blew with no notice, around 1000 miles after the recall inspection. My safety, along with the others around me was put at risk as I was in the fast lane during rush hour traffic with no motor to aid switching lanes to get to the shoulder. Finally died at one of the busiest intersections in the state, for the last time, as I was attempting to limp to the dealer via multiple restarts. leaving me stranded on the side of the road on a wonderful January day. The vehicle has been inspected by the dealer and slated for an engine replacement. No notice, I let off the gas, and when I went to accelerate again, the motor shut off.
