TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SPARK. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LOST MOTIVE POWER WITH A KNOCKING SOUND DETECTED IN THE ENGINE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PISTON FAILURE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,500.
THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AS I WAS TRYING TO CHECK THE ENGINE OIL AND I PULLED THE HOOD LATCH INSIDE THE CAR AND THE HOOD NEVER POPPED OR RELEASED AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET THE HOOD OPEN TO CHECK ON THE ENGINE OIL
WHEN MY ALTERNATOR FAILED IT CAUSED AN OVER CURRENT THROUGH THE ABS RELAY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE WIRING HARNESS MELTING THE BRACKET AND BREAKING ONE OF THE CLIPS THE OTHER CLIP BROKE WHEN THE GMC DEALER WAS DOING THEIR INSPECTION. I'M WORKING WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT DOESN'T BELIEVE THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE ALTERNATOR AND NOT THE DEALER.
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2014 CHEVY SPARK WITH 49,000 MILES. WITHIN A WEEK OF USING THE VEHICLE THE RADIO, CHIMES AND WARNINGS STOPPED WORKING. I WAS DRIVING AND TOUCHED THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER. THE RADIO WENT OFF AND WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON. I THOUGHT MAYBE A FUSE HAD BLOWN SO I CHECKED ALL RELATED FUSES. THEN I DID SOME RESEARCH ON LINE. I FOUND NUMEROUS ARTICLES AND RECALLS FOR THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. I AM THE THIRD OWNER OF THIS SPARK. THE FIRST OWNER HAD A RECALL SERVICE PERFORMED ON THE SPARK THAT WAS RELATED TO THE RADIO. JUST A WEEK BEFORE I PURCHASE THE SPARK THE SECOND OWNER HAD THE RADIO "REPAIRED" AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. CHEVROLET AT THIS POINT DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THAT THE PROBLEM IS RECALL RELATED BECAUSE THE RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED ONCE.
CAR WAS WORKING FINE AND SHUT OFF IN PARKING LOT. THEN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART IT A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER LEAD TO FAILURE TO TURN OVER (CRANKING WAS HEARD). CONSOLE LIGHTS WERE LIGHTING INTERMITTENTLY AND VARIED, INCLUDING CHECK ENGINE AND SAFETY LOCK. WIPERS STARTED OCCASIONALLY. COULD NOT PUT IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT. OVER A FEW HOURS, THE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SPARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED ON AND OFF AND "NINETY FIVE CODE" APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BELLAMY STRICKLAND CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (145 INDUSTRIAL BOULEVARD, MCDONOUGH, GA 30253, (770) 954-3000) WHERE FAILURE CODE 95 (AIR BAG FAILURE) APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE AIR BAGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE, IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, THE AIR BAGS MAY FAIL TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5676587766. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND WENT OFF AFTER ONE DAY. IT CAME ON AGAIN 3 DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING, AND AT ONE POINT I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP. A MECHANIC HAS DIAGNOSED THE ERROR CODE AS P0871 AND ALERTED ME TO GM BULLETIN PIP5521 WHICH STATES MY ENTIRE TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED, DESPITE THE CAR ONLY HAVING 56,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY GM WHICH PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD AND THIS CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED. MY CAR IS SLIGHTLY OUT OF WARRANTY AND I'M ATTEMPTING TO GET GM TO FIX IT UNDER A GOOD WILL WARRANTY.
I DROVE FROM SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, CA, TO SAN FRANCISCO, CA (8 MILES). THE CAR WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. AS I APPROACHED THE 6TH ST. EXIT, I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO MY CAR. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE; THE BRAKES FELT 'LOCKED' UNDER MY FOOT, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT DEPRESS TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR WAS MOVING RAPIDLY FORWARD AT FREEWAY SPEED, AND I HAD NO WAY TO SLOW IT DOWN. I THEN SAW THE DISPLAY HAD A WARNING SOMETHING TO THE EFFECT OF 'SERVICE BRAKES SOON.' I WAS TRAVELLING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MILES PER HOUR AND VERY AFRAID OF A COLLISION DUE TO NOT HAVING ANY MEANS TO STOP. THE 6TH ST. EXIT HAD A HIGH RAMP, AND THERE WAS STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. FORTUNATELY, THE CAR SLOWED ENOUGH GOING UP THE RAMP TO AVOID A COLLISION, AND I COASTED TO THE FIRST INTERSECTION WHERE I PULLED OVER TO ASSESS THE SITUATION. THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL, AND I TURNED OFF THE CAR. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE, I TURNED THE CAR ON AGAIN, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS WORKING AGAIN. THERE WAS NO WARNING ON THE DISPLAY. I SAFELY PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND CONTINUED FOR ABOUT HALF A MILE BEFORE PARKING TO MEET MY HUSBAND. APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR LATER, I STARTED UP THE CAR AGAIN, AND IT APPEARED TO WORK; THERE WAS STILL NO WARNING SIGNAL AT ALL ABOUT SERVICING BRAKES. I BEGAN TO MAKE MY WAY BACK DOWN THE STREET WHEN, TWO BLOCKS INTO THE DRIVE, THE WARNING SIGNAL CAME ON AND I WAS UNABLE TO APPLY THE BRAKES. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE SLOWLY MOVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER INTO A PARKING SPACE AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I CALLED MY HUSBAND, WHO CAME IN HIS CAR TO HELP ME. WE CALLED FOR A TOW TRUCK AND MY HUSBAND SAW TO IT THAT THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO SERRAMONTE CHEVROLET IN DALY CITY WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED (COST: $3727.91, MILES: 34,136). THE CHEVY SPARK EV DOES NOT HAVE A HANDBRAKE TO MANUALLY STOP THE CAR, PUTTING THE DRIVER AT EXTREME DISADVANTAGE.
WHEN I TAKE OFF, LIKE FROM STOPPING AT A RED LIGHT, AND MY CAR SHUDDERS AND MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN IT SHIFTS GEARS. I SAW WHERE THERE ARE RECALLS FOR THE CAR "HARD SHIFTING" AND COULD THIS BE THE SAME THING
THE JUG THAT HOLDS MY ANTIFREEZE DEVELOPED A HOLE RIGHT WHERE THE HOSE CONNECTS TO IT AND ANTIFREEZE WAS DRIPPING ONTO A BELT. MY CAR WOULD MAKE A SCREECHING SOUND AND HESITATE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I REPLACED THE BELT BUT THEN OTHER STUFF STARTED GOING WRONG. THE ENGINE REVS UP WHILE I AM DRIVING AND THE CAR WILL HESITATE EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, IT USUALLY HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN A FEW SECONDS THEN DRIVES FINE FOR A SHORT WHILE. NO PATTERN, JUST HAPPENS RANDOMLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. ON 08/07/1019 I WAS DRIVING 320 MILES TO COPPERAS COVE, TX FROM LUBBOCK,TX . AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 100 MILES MY CAR STUDDERED REAL BAD AND I LOST ALL POWER AS I TURNED A CORNER. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STEPPED ON THE GAS TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR WOULD BARLEY MOVE. I MANAGED TO GET TO A GAS STATION WHERE I HAD TO WAIT FOR A TOW BACK TO LUBBOCK. SOMETHING ABOUT THE DEVICE THAT PUTS OXYGEN INTO THE GAS AS IT GOES INTO THE ENGINE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME EXPERIENCE ONLINE. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 54000 MILES ON MY CAR. MY ALARM GOES OFF 99% OF THE TIME IF I LOCK MY CAR, AND MY WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID DOES NOT DISPENSE.
IN AUGUST 2019, AS I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED AND MY BRAKE, GAS, STEERING COLUMN, AND VEHICLE LOSS COMPLETE FUNCTION. THIS INCIDENT ALMOST COST ME MY LIFE. THANK GOODNESS I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY IN TIME. AFTER WEEKS AND MONTHS OF FAILED REPAIR ATTEMPTS, I CONTACTED GM HOPING TO GAIN SOME RESOLUTION. AFTER FILING A COMPLAINT IN DECEMBER 2019 THERE WAS NO RESPONSE UNTIL LAST WEEK. I RECEIVED A LETTER IN THE MAIL FROM ,MRS. NEELIE O'CONNOR-GLOBAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE OPERATIONS, STATING THAT MY MECHANICAL ISSUES MAY INDEED BE AT THE FAULT OF GM. THEY WOULD PAY FOR DAMAGES ,ONLY IF MY CAR WAS UNDER 120,000 MILES ,AND THEIR MECHANIC CONFIRMS THE DAMAGES.
TAKATA RECALL. MY '14 SPARK HAS GOTTEN THE COOLANT TANK REPLACED TWICE. ALSO MY RPMS ARE SHOOTING UP AND BACK DOWN ONCE I HIT 50MPH OR FASTER . ALSO MAKES A HIGH PITCHED NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENS . IT'S CAUSING MY CAR TO JERK AT FASTER SPEEDS, ALSO MY CAR JERKS AT POINT OF ACCELERATION FROM 0MPH WHEN I'M MAKING TURNS. ALSO THE BATTERY IS CONTINUALLY BEING DRAINED AND IT'S NOT WORN OUT .
I BOUGHT MY 2014 CHEVY SPARK IN 2017. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING SINCE I BOUGHT IT. SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS OR WILL NOT ACCELERATE PAST 50 MPH. I HAD TO HAVE A NEW ENGINE PUT IN AT 85,000 MILES. MECHANIC SHOP TOLD ME NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. HERE I AM 5 MONTHS AFTER HAVING THE ENGINE REPLACED, CAR WILL NOT TURN ON, IT WON'T TURN OVER, IT WON'T CLICK, CAR HAS NO POWER TO THE STARTER OR ALTERNATOR. THROWS THE CODE U0101. SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE. GM NEEDS TO RECALL ENTIRW CHEVY SPARK LINE.
IN JANUARY 2019, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING. NO DEALERSHIP HAD APPOINTMENTS BECAUSE THERE WAS AN AIRBAG RECALL ON ANOTHER GM VEHICLE GOING-ON. THE FIRST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT I COULD OBTAIN WAS IN APRIL, WHICH ENDED UP TURNING OUT TO BE A FEW DAYS AFTER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED. MY STANCE IS THAT I WOULD HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN THE DEALERSHIP IN JANUARY, HAD AN APPOINTMENT BEEN AVAILABLE. BASED UPON THIS, MY FEELING IS THAT GM SHOULD HONOR MY POWERTRAIN AND FIX MY TRANSMISSION UNDER THE WARRANTY. HOWEVER, GM WAS REFUSING TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION UNDER THE WARRANTY, AND I WAS GOING THROUGH THE BAR COMPLAINT PROCESS. ON JUNE 16TH, I WAS DRIVING ACROSS A BRIDGE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PETAL, THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. IT IS A MIRACLE THAT I WAS NOT RAN OVER BY THE SEMITRUCK THAT WAS BEHIND ME AND WAS ABLE TO SOMEHOW COAST TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I ALMOST DIED! THIS CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT THERE IS AN INTERNAL SERVICE BULLETIN ON MY VEHICLE AS GM KNOWS THAT THIS MAKE/MODEL/YEAR HAS A KNOWN HIGH TRANSMISSION FAILURE RATE AROUND 60K MILES. THIS CAR SHOULD BE RECALLED. ON JULY 8TH, I PAID TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED; HOWEVER THE CAR CONTINUES TO HAVE ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE UPHILL, THE CAR SLOWS DOWN TO A MAX OF 45MPH. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE ON THE FREEWAY WHERE THE STANDARD SPEED IS 65MPH. IF YOU LOOK AT CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, THERE ARE OVER 200 PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT TRANSMISSION ISSUES WITH THE 2014 CHEVY SPARK.
PURCHASED VEHICLE IN 2014 BRAND NEW. THE RADIO SCREEN SAID CHECK ANTENNA WHEN ON XM (WE HAD A FREE TRIAL BUT IT WOULDN'T WORK) SO WE TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS, WHERE THEY SAID THERE WAS A CHAFED WIRE BEHIND RADIO. THEY REPAIRED BUT RADIO STILL DIDN'T WORK CORRECTLY, AND SO THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE RADIO, THIS WAS IN 2015. NOW IT'S 2019, AND SOMETIMES THE CAR WON'T START, THE SIGNAL CHIMES WON'T MAKE SOUNDS AND THE RADIO WILL NOT TURN ON, RANDOM LIGHTS COME ON IN THE DASH - INCLUDING A FAILURE LIGHT ABOUT THE AIRBAGS, AND A BRAKE LIGHT WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME. WE HAD THE KEY CHIME RECALL COMPLETED, BUT THIS ISSUE OCCURRED ANYWAY. WE REPLACED THE KEY FOB BATTERIES, THE CAR WOULD STILL NOT START RANDOMLY. WE TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND THEY SAID THE ISSUE WAS MOST LIKELY DUE TO A LOOSE BATTERY CABLE - IT WAS REPAIRED. NOW A MONTH LATER, THE RADIO AGAIN DOESN'T WORK AGAIN AND THE SOUNDS IN THE CAR (SIGNALS,ETC) DON'T WORK AGAIN, AND WE EXPECTED THE CAR NOT TO START AGAIN SINCE THOSE WERE THE SIGNS THAT OCCURRED BEFORE IT WOULDN'T START. WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER, THEY SAY THE RADIO DOESN'T WORK AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THE RADIO HAS BEEN REPLACED IN 4 YEARS. ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE DAY WE BOUGHT IT. . I STRONGLY BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING MAJORLY WRONG WITH THE ELECTRICAL MAKEUP OF THIS VEHICLE AND THAT THE RADIO NOT WORKING/ CAUSING OTHER PROBLEMS, IS JUST AN UNDERLYING ISSUE BEING CAUSED BY SOMETHING GREATER. PLEASE HELP.
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, REGEN STOPPED WORKING AND BRAKING STOPPED FUNCTIONING TO A POINT OF ALMOST CRASHING. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE REGEN ISSUES, THE SERVICE STABILITRACK WARNING DISPLAYED ON THE DASH ALONG WITH THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS GOING ON. EVEN AT LESS THAN 5MPH IN A PARKING LOT TO REACH THE TOW TRUCK, TRYING TO STOP WAS A LESSON IN FEAR AND FRUSTRATION. THIS IS NOW THE 3RD TIME THIS VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM. 1ST TIME WAS MARCH 2018 WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, 2ND TIME FEBRUARY 2019 AND NOW APRIL 2019.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTS COMES ON, AND THE CAR LOSES ITS ABILITY TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND SHAKES ALL OVER LIKE IT'S ABOUT TO FALL APART. THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN I'M ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SUDDENLY FORCES ITSELF TO GO SLOWER AND WON'T ACCELERATE BEYOND 25-30 MPH
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE I PLACE IT IN PARK WITHOUT ISSUE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS ON. ONCE I THEN ATTEMPT TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AN ERROR APPEARS STATING "SHIFT TO PARK. THIS IS DESPITE THE FACT THAT IT HAS BEEN IN PARK WITHOUT ANY ISSUE PRIOR TO ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE REFUSES TO FULLY SHUT DOWN, DRAINING THE ACCESSORY 12V BATTERY AS IT REMAINS CONNECTED TO BLUETOOTH, THE TAIL LIGHTS REMAIN ON, AND AN INTERIOR WARNING NOISE CONTINUES TO RING. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 12K MILES.
SINCE I RECEIVED THE TRANSMISSION SAFETY RECALL AND TOOK MY VEHICLE IN, IT SEEMS LIKE THEY MADE MY VEHICLE WORSE. IT WORKED PERFECTLY BEFORE THE RECALL AND NOW IT SEEMS LIKE THE TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. ALSO SEEMS LIKE MY BRAKES LOCK WHILE I'M DRIVING AND IF I PRESS ON THE BRAKES THEY ENGAGE VERY BADLY. IT MAKES ME JUMP FORWARD.
THE RADIO IN MY CAR WILL NOT WORK I HAVE CHANGE THE FUSES TWICE AND IT STILL DOES NOT WORK IT WILL NOT EVEN LIGHT UP.
CVT BUCKS LIKE IT CAN'T DECIDE WHAT GEAR TO SHIFT TO AT SPEEDS ABOVE 40. MORE NOTICEABLE AT 55MPH OR MORE. HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE 80,000 MILES BUT HAS GOTTEN WORSE.
CAR SPUTTERS AND HESITATES. FEELS LIKE TRANSMISSION OR FUEL PROBLEM. HAD TRANSMISSION REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. FROM WHAT I'M HEARING TRANSMISSIONS IN THIS CAR HAVE AN ISSUE. SEEMS LIKE IT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY MANUFACTURER NOT ME. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS. IT WAS SEEMING TO COME AND GO NOW IT JUST ALL THE TIME.
CAR LOST POWER AND TOOK LONGER TO ACCELERATE THAN NORMAL WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT. MY CAR'S DASHBOARD SHOWED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT AND A LOSS OF TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. A CAR DIAGNOSTIC RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR WHICH I HAVE DONE WITH NO SUCCESS. A DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSTIC SAID THERE WAS FAULTY WIRING WHICH WOULD COST $600 TO FIX. I HAVE NOT GONE THROUGH WITH THE REPAIRS AS OF YET. I HAVE MET AT LEAST 2 OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
THE ENGINE COOLANT/ANTI-FREEZE RESERVOIR LEAKS. ***IT ONLY LEAKS WHEN DRIVING*** I REALIZED THIS WHEN DOING AN INSPECTION BEFORE A LONG DRIVE (CAR WAS STATIONARY). WHEN I INSPECTED UNDER THE HOOD I COULD SEE RESIDUE FROM A LEAK AND SMELL THE COOLANT. I FILLED IT AND THE NEXT DAY IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN, AFTER DRIVING 11 HOURS BETWEEN 2 DAYS. NO LIGHT INDICATORS ARE PRESENT OR FLASHING. A FEW EVENINGS AGO SOME COOLANT MUST HAVE LEAKED ONTO OR NEXT TO THE ENGINE BECAUSE THERE WAS A SMALL AMOUNT OF SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER MY HOOD. WHEN TYPING 2014 CHEVY SPARK ANTIFREEZE LEAK INTO GOOGLE, THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS. EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE IN THE SAME PLACE. PLEASE HAVE THIS RECALLED.
ON 17 SEP 2018 WHILE GOING 60 MPH ON I-65, THE VEHICLE STARTED BEEPING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, THE DOORS STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN, THE FUEL GAUGE WENT FROM HALF A TANK TO EMPTY AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. PRESSING THE GAS WOULD NOT MAKE THE CAR GO FASTER; MY CAR SLOWED TO 40 MPH AND STAYED AT THAT SPEED FOR TWO MINUTES AND THEN LOST POWER COMPLETELY. I HAD TO CUT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PREVENT MYSELF FROM GETTING INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT (AN IDLE CAR ON AN EIGHT LANE INTERSTATE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A GOOD TIME), TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN WAITED 5 MINUTES. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON, AND IT RAN FOR AN ADDITIONAL FIVE MINUTES BEFORE HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS. REPEAT ONE MORE TIME AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME SAFELY. THE NEXT DAY, 18 SEP 2018, I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO SAID THAT BASED ON ODB2 SCAN ON THE VEHICLE THAT THE ENGINE COMPUTER WASN'T TALKING TO ANY OF THE OTHER SYSTEMS AND THAT THEY COULDN'T FIX THIS PROBLEM; IT HAD TO BE TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAVE TO RUN A WIRE TRACE TO FIGURE OUT WHICH WIRE IS SHORTING OUT THE SYSTEM.
I CALLED A DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR A YEAR STATING THAT MY TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO BE SLIPPING. THEY TOLD ME IT WASN'T POSSIBLY THE TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, I WAS JUST DRIVING, STOPPED AT A LIGHT, WENT TO ACCELERATE TO GO THROUGH THE LIGHT, I HEARD CLICK CLICK AND THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE CAR DID NOT MOVE. I POPPED IT IN TO LOW, TRIED AGAIN, NOTHING. WENT TO NEUTRAL, THEN TO REVERSE, TRIED AGAIN, NOTHING.
FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT IMPACT WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH FROM ONE SIDE STREET TO ANOTHER. THE IMPACT OF THE AIRBAG CAUSED THE DRIVER TO VEER TO THE RIGHT STRIKING THE CURB. CONTACTED GM AND THEIR INVESTIGATION DETERMINED IT WAS NOT A MANUFACTURING ISSUE. THEY DENIED THE CLAIM AND WOULD NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS. CURRENTLY WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET SPARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WITH SHIFTING INTO THE CORRECT GEAR WHILE BEING OPERATED OVER 30 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.
THE CAR WILL POWER DOWN WHILE DRIVING, DESPITE HAVING ADEQUATE CHARGE. THE MESSAGE "PRESS POWER BUTTON AGAIN TO SHUT OFF" APPEARS EVEN THOUGH THE POWER BUTTON HAS NOT BEEN PRESSED. THEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN AND COASTS TO A STOP.
MY 2014 VEHICLE ONLY HAS 52,000 MILES. THE COOLANT IS LEAKING FROM THE MIDDLE SEAM OF THE RESERVOIR TANK AS WELL AS THE TOP HOSE CONNECTION. THANKFULLY I OBSERVED COOLANT ON MY GARAGE FLOOR TO PUT ME ON NOTICE OF THE LEAK. IF I HAD BEEN PARKED OUTDOORS, I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THE COOLANT LEAKING AND RISKED PERMANENT ENGINE DAMAGE FROM LACK OF COOLANT. THE COOLANT TANK SHOULD NOT FAIL THIS SOON. THIS HAS TO BE A DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED PART. I READ ON A CHEVY SPARK OWNER'S FORUM THAT SEVERAL OWNERS OF THE 2014 SPARK HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SAME LEAKING RESERVOIR TANK AT THE SAME 50K MILEAGE MARK. THE CHEVY DEALER IS GOING TO CHARGE ME $400 TO MAKE THIS REPAIR. CHEVY SHOULD POSSESS A COMPUTER RECORD OF HOW MANY 2014 SPARKS HAVE HAD THEIR COOLANT TANK REPLACED TO PLACE THEM ON NOTICE THAT THE PART IS DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED TO FAIL AFTER ONLY 50,000 MILES. CHEVY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THE COOLANT TANK SO THAT PEOPLE DO NOT PERMANENTLY DAMAGE THEIR ENGINE BY UNKNOWINGLY DRIVING WITHOUT COOLANT BECAUSE OF THIS DEFECTIVELY DESIGNED LEAKING COOLANT TANK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO YOUNG CHEVROLET (9301 E R L THORNTON FWY, DALLAS, TX 75228, (469) 294-3000) WHERE THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE WAS CHANGED AND REFLASHED. THE DEALER ALSO INSTALLED A NEW AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL MODULE. A WEEK LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
CAR WILL NOT START WHEN COLD. TOOK TO O'REILLY'S AND THEY CHECKED BATTERY. READINGS JUMPING ALL OVER. HAVE SINCE READ THAT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2013 AND 2014 SPARKS. NO WARRANTY ANYMORE. THIS SHOULD HAVE HAD A RECALL. COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ.
I BELIEVE THERE ARE SOME ISSUES WITH THE CARS WIRINGS. FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING MY BRAKE WARNING SIGNAL AND TRACTION SIGNAL WILL COME ON THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE CAR WILL START MAKING A DINGING NOISE. THE LIGHT NEVER GO OFF AND MAYBE 30 MINUTES TO AN HOUR THEY START GOING OFF AGAIN.
PULLING INTO A PARKING RAMP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD WITHOUT GUNNING THE GAS PEDAL. DIAGNOSTIC CODES WERE ALL TRANSMISSION RELATED. TOOK CAR INTO DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION UNDER WARRANTY AT 70,000 MILES. CAR HAD BEEN EXHIBITING SLOW ACCELERATION, STUTTERING, HESITATION AND JUMPING DURING ROLLING STOPS OR TAKE OFF. THIS HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR 2 YEARS OR BETTER.
107,000 HWY/CITY MILES. CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE 2014 CHEVROLET SPARK'S CVT CONTROL MODULE AND TRANSMISSION. DEALERSHIP INSPECTION REVEALED; PERMANENTLY FROZEN ACTUATORS AND CONTROL VALVES WHICH CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL, WITH ENGINE RUNNING, ON MILD INCLINES, ON RAMPS, OFF RAMPS, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC,AND STOP LIGHTS. VERY LITTLE TIME BETWEEN THE ONSET OF MECHANICAL - ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTIONS WHICH INCLUDE BUCKING, SLIPPAGE AND LOSS OF MOMENTUM, BEFORE THE AMBER "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" DEPLOYS. BY THAT TIME, IT'S TOO LATE..AS STATED EARLIER, LOSS OF MOMENTUM ON FAST-PACED INTERSTATES AND HEAVY FLOW TRAFFIC LIGHTS, PLACED MYSELF AND PASSENGERS IN UNWARRANTED DANGER.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE CAR STARTS TO STALL. I WENT AND GOT THE CODES READ. EVERYTHING CAME BACK THAT ITS THE TRANSMISSION. CHEVY CLAIMS THEY'RE NOT SURE IF THE WARRANTY WILL COVER ALL THE COST. THE PLACE I GOT THE CAR FROM DIDN'T EVEN PROVIDE ME WITH ANY CARFAXS. I CALLED THEM AND THEY DIDN'T GIVE ANY SOLUTION. I AM DISAPPOINTED.
THERE'S ONLY 47K MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND THE STRUT MOUNTS ARE BEGINNING TO GET WORN. AFTER CONSULTING TWO OTHER AUTO SHOPS AFTER TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THE AUTO SHOPS SAID IT WAS HIGHLY UNUSUAL FOR A NEWER VEHICLE TO NEED THESE PARTS REPLACED. AS OF RIGHT NOW THE STRUT MOUNTS AREN'T MAKING ANY NOISE FOR THE DRIVER TO FEEL AS IF SOMETHING IS WRONG. THE CHERVOLET DEALERSHIP POINTED OUT THIS DEFECT, AND THE AUTO SHOP MECHANICS HAD TO BE TOLD OF THIS ISSUE FOR THEM TO SEE IT.
2014 CHEVY SPARK MOTOR LOST COMPRESSION IN TWO CYLINDERS @ 60K MILES, WHITMORE CHEVROLET IN WEST POINT, VA. TOOK APPROX. 5.5 WEEKS TO REPLACE THE CYLINDER HEAD, WITH NO LOANER CAR AVAILABLE TO ME. SERVICE MANAGER YELLED AT ME FOR STOPPING WHEN I WOULD STOP BY TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE CARS STATUS, SAME WHEN I WOULD CALL. NEITHER THE CALLS OR VISITS WERE EVEN DAILY, HE WAS HORRIBLE TO DEAL WITH. IN THE MEANTIME I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THIS & THEY DID ESSENTIALLY NOTHING OTHER THAN STATE THAT DEALERS ARE INDEPENDANTLY OWNED & THEY GAVE ME 15 MONTHS OF ONSTAR...I WOULD RATHER HAVE A CAR THE FUNCTIONED AS DESIGNED. FAST FORWARD APPROX. 2 MONTHS & THE AC STOPPED WORKING. TRIED CONTACTING WHIMORE ABOUT THE FAILED AC SYSTEM, SERVICE GROUP EITHER HANGS UP ON ME OR SIMPLY DO NOT CALL BACK. CONTACTED ANOTHER CHEVY DEALER & WAS TOLD THAT I EITHER GO BACK TO WHITMORE OR PAY TO HAVE THE AC FIXED AT THEIR DEALERSHIP. AFTER BUYING GM SINCE 1987 I GUESS I WILL BE LOOKING INTO OTHER MANUFACTURERS VERY, VERY SOON AS I NOW NEED 3 NEW VEHICLES.
AFTER 38000 MILES AND 38 MONTHS (ON A 3 YEAR, 36000 MILE WARRANTY), THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ON MY 2014 CHEVY SPARK WERE BOTH BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON SEARCHING AT 2 DIFFERENT PARTS STORES, THE 2ND STORE ADVISED THERE WAS NOT A PART IN ANY WAREHOUSE NATIONWIDE. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A FACTORY DEFECT CAUSING THE ALTERNATOR TO FAIL, AND THEN THE BATTERY.
CAR MOTOR WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN KEY IS NOT IN THE IGNITION AND IGNITION IS IN THE OFF POSITION. CAR IS STILL DRIVE-ABLE, IT WILL SWITCH GEARS AND IS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN. HAD TO SHUT DOWN CAR BY TAKING OUT A FUSE UNDER THE HOOD. CAR IS ABLE TO RESTART USING KEY. A WEEK LATER CAR MOTOR WILL TURN OFF, BUT THE INSIDE CHIME IS GOING OFF, LEAVING CAR PARKED! I READ OTHER REPORTS ON THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
KEY FOB HINGE IS FAULTY, MADE OUT OF POTTER'S METAL I'VE HAD NOW 3 KEY'S IN THE SPAN OF 3 YEAR'S BREAK DUE TO THEM BREAKING OFF AT THE HINGE AND THE ENGINE WON'T START DUE TO THE MANUFACTURER HAVING AN ANTI THEFT PROTECTION. THEY KEY'S WILL LAST FOR THE SPAN OF APPROXIMATELY 10,000-15,000 MILES THEN FAILURE WILL HAPPEN SHORTLY FOLLOWING. THIS EFFECT'S CAR'S WHEN TRYING TO START.

HAD TO REPLACE THERMOSTAT, OIL PAN GASKET AND NOW RADIATOR RESIVOR! HAS ONLY 51K MILES ON IT!! REALLY??? PIECE OF JUNK!!
I HAVE REGISTERED COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS VEHICLE BEFORE. THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY; IT IS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE PROPERLY FROM A LOW SPEED OR STOPPED POSITION. I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED 3 TIMES, BUT THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. ON AUGUST 19, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE CAR'S INABILITY TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC.
WHILE DRIVING THE RADIO WILL TURN OFF AND ALSO TURN OFF SEATBELT CHIME AND ONSTAR WILL DISABLE AND KEY CHIME WILL NOT WORK.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE BRAKES LOCKED UP BY THEMSELVES AND THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP WAITING FOR A MASTER CYLINDER FOR 4 MONTHS. THE CAR WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. THE DEALER SAID THE MASTER CYLINDER LOCKED UP THE BRAKES. THE MASTER CYLINDER HAS BEEN BACK ORDERED FOR 4 MONTHS .
SINCE THE DAY I HAVE BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 1/2 YEARS AGO IT WILL DIE, EVEN WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH. RECENTLY IT HASN'T BEEN STARTING EVERY TIME. CHEVY SAYS THE BATTERY IS BAD. HAD THE BATTERY CHECKED AT 8 OTHER PLACES, THEY ALL SAID BATTERY WAS FINE. HE HAD TESTED THE BATTERY RIGHT AFTER I TRIED TO START IT FOR TWO HOURS. WHEN YOU PULL THE NEGATIVE CABLE OFF THE BATTERY, THERE IS STILL 2 AMPS BRING DRAWN OFF THE BATTERY. WITH NOTHING ON, NO DIME LIGHT, NO RADIO, NO AIR. AND I'VE TOLD THEM FOREVER THAT MY SEATBELT WARNING SIGNS DON'T WORK PROPERLY. BUT THEY CAN'T SEEM TO REPRODUCE ANY PROBLEMS.

WHEN PICTURES SUBMITTED TO GM CUSTOMER SERVICE OF WELDS THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO "IMPACT DAMAGE" AND NOT A DEFECT SO NOT COVERED BY DEFECT WARRENTY , ALTHOUGH THE DEALER SERVICE MANAGER AT WINDY CHEVROLET IN ELLENSBURG, WA INSPECTED AND DETERMINED THAT ON OF THE WELDS HAD NOT ADHERED TO BOTH PIECES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE TURNPIKE RADIO WENT BLANK THEN NO CHIMES FOR THE TURN SIGNALS THEN THE CHIMES FOR THE SEAT BELTS DIDNT DING THEN TOOK NOTICE THAT THE CELL CHARGER WASNT WORKING EITHER. JUST GOT THE CAR LESS THEN AYEAR AGO. ALSO 2 FLAT TIRES WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS PLUS NOW THE CAR BUCKS OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING.
