I STARTED MY SUBURBAN LIKE ANY OTHER DAY, STEP ON BRAKES TO RELEASE THE SHIFTER, PUT INTO DRIVE WITH NO PROBLEM, I WENT ONTO THE HIGHWAY AKA FREEWAY WITH NO PROBLEM, I NEEDED TO MAKE A PANIC STOP, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, TRYING TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE PEDAL, THAT ALSO FAILED.. WHEN DID A AMERICAN MADE PRODUCT LIKE THE CHEVY SUBURBAN GAT SUCH A CHEAP MANUFACTURING OF BRAKE COMPONENTS... MY PREVIOUS CAR, 1987 VOLKSWAGEN VANAGON CAMPER NEVER NEEDED STEEL BRAKE LINES REPLACED. THE RUBBER HOSES I CAN UNDERSTAND... BUT STEEL BRAKES LINES SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 25 YRS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE BETWEEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND ENGINE FIREWALL. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BLISTERS TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FEET, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 232,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE CABLE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 11,000.
IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP FOR THE 3RD TIME.. FIRST ONE WAS UNDER WARRANTY BUT THE NEXT 2 ARE ON ME..NOW MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME OF A NEWER DESIGN ... SHOULD HAVE CAME OUT EARLIER.

IN 2005, THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE AT THE TIME. WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MILES PER HOUR APPLIED THE BRAKES AND BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SOFT AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE BARELY CAME TO A STOP BEFORE I HIT ANYTHING. NO WARNING LIGHTS OR MESSAGES APPEARED BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM RUSTED METAL TUBING ON FRAME JUST BEHIND DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL.
I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN THE 9100 KEYSTONE AVE. OFFICE BUILDING FOR THE PASSED TWO AND A HALF MONTHS. FOR OVER A MONTH NOW THERE HAS BEEN A BLACK CHEVROLET SUBURBAN PARKED IN THE SPOT NEXT TO MINE. IT HASN'T BEEN TOUCHED FOR OVER A MONTH. IF IT IS A STOLEN VEHICLE I WANT TO REPORT IT SO THAT IT CAN BE RETURNED TO THE OWNER.
BRAKES FAILED, HAD TO DRIVE OFF THE ROAD IN FEAR OF HITTING CAR IN FRONT OF ME. CORRODED REAR BRAKE LINES, REAR BRAKE LINE BLEW OUT. *TR
I WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE TO ENGAGE REVERSE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS IS NOT A NORMAL BRAKING FOR OUR SUBURBAN. BRAKE FLUID WAS ADDED TO THE BRAKE FLUID COMPARTMENT AND BRAKES WERE RE-TESTED; BRAKE PEDAL CONTINUED TO GO TO FLOOR. FURTHER INVESTIGATION OF THE VEHICLE OUTSIDE THE SUBURBAN FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM BRAKE LINE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. *TR
The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. In addition, the vehicle jerked. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to move while in reverse(R) and only responded while in drive(D). The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that an unknown sensor connected to the transmission and engine had failed. The contact bought the sensor, and when the independent mechanic repaired the vehicle, the failure persisted. The independent mechanic then diagnosed that the transmission had failed. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that a year later, on a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to start. The contact replaced the battery. The contact stated that afterwards, an abnormal sound was coming from the vehicle. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to function while in reverse(R) or drive(D). There was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The contact rebuilt the transmission with a friend who was an independent mechanic. The contact stated that the fuel pump was replaced. The contact stated that three years later, the fuel pump failed to function as intended. The contact parked the vehicle, and the vehicle was no longer being driven. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR RECALL CLAIM DENIED. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD THE HUB ASSEMBLIES AND SENSORS REPLACED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC DUE TO THE SPEED SENSORS BEING RUSTED. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD THEM REPLACED, FOR MUCH LESS THAN THE DEALER WOULD HAVE CHARGED.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 238,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC GOING ABOUT 20 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO STOP MY SUBURBAN WITHOUT HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME BY PUTTING THE CAR IN 2ND GEAR AND USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THERE WERE NO WARNINGS LIGHTS OR MESSAGES IN THE MESSAGE CENTER BEFORE OR AFTER THIS HAPPENED. THE BRAKE LINE BURST ALONG THE FRAME RAIL AT A SPOT APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. *TR
STEEL BRAKE LINE ALONG RIGHT REAR FRAME MEMBER CORRODED AND FAILED RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND BRAKING ACTION. INSPECTION OF OTHER STEEL BRAKE LINES SHOW EXTENSIVE CORROSION, DRAWING REASONABLE CONCLUSION THAT OTHER LINES WILL FAIL. ALL STEEL BRAKE LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED TO MAKE VEHICLE SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
WHEN APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TODAY THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED RED AND WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL IT COLLAPSED TO THE FLOOR CAUSING ME TO RUN THE LIGHT AND PASS INTO THE INTERSECTION. I WAS TRAVELING DOWN A CITY STREET IN PHILADELPHIA TAKING MY YOUNG KIDS TO DAYCARE, WHEN I HAD TO COME TO AN ABRUPT STOP TO AVOID A VEHICLE MAKING AN ILLEGAL U-TURN. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR THEN SLOWLY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED INTO A REPAIR FACILITY AND WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC MY SUBURBAN WAS THE THIRD IN TWO DAY PERIOD TO COME IN WITH RUPTURED BRAKE LINES DUE TO CORROSION. THIS MATTER NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED. I JUST ARRIVED HOME A WEEK PRIOR FROM VACATIONING WITH MY ENTIRE FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN ROUTINELY CHECKED AND SERVICED BY BRYNER CHEVY IN JENKIN TOWN PA. I WAS NEVER INFORMED MY BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. *TR
WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR A LIGHT AT AN INTERSECTION. WAS TRAVELING AROUND 15 MPH WHEN I STARTED TO BRAKE THEN THE PEDAL "POPPED" AND WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT DID COME TO A STOP ABOUT 20 FEET INTO THE INTERSECTION, LUCKY FOR THE 7 PASSENGERS THAT WHERE WITH ME NO ONE WAS COMING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT MY BREAK LINES ARE IN THIS CONDITION AT THIS AGE. I OWNED A 78 CHEVY FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS, THE BRAKE LINES LOOKED AS GOOD AS NEW THE DAY I SOLD IT. LOOKING FOR A GARAGE THAT CAN REPLACE ALL THE LINES WITH NON-GM PARTS. UNLIKE GM I VALUE THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY. GM JUST LOST ANOTHER CUSTOMER. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT HAD THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 201,000.
STEEL BRAKE LINES ALONG REAR DIFFERENTIAL CORRODED AND FAILED RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND BRAKING ACTIONS. *TR
REAR BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACE DUE TO CORROSION IN JUNE 2012. NOW THE FRONT BRAKE LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CORROSION JULY 2013. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW IN 2000. *TR
MY HUSBAND WAS BACKING OUR SUBURBAN DOWN THE DRIVEWAY (A HILL) WHEN HE COMPLETELY LOST BRAKING. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND VEHICLE WASN'T SLOWING. EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS INEFFECTIVE. HE TURNED INTO A BUSH AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL AND RAN IT OVER, AND THAT PLUS LEVEL ROAD SLOWED HIM ENOUGH THAT HE WAS ABLE TO STOP AND DRIVE BACK UP THE DRIVEWAY. THERE IS A TRAIL OF BRAKE FLUID ALL THE WAY UP ON THE LEFT SIDE. FRONT BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED 2-1/2 YEARS AGO DUE TO CORROSION. *TR
THE BRAKE LINE ON THE DRIVER SIDE HAS CORRODED AND CAUSED A LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE HAS LOST SIGNIFICANT BRAKING ABILITY. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE OTHER LINES, IT IS APPARENT THAT CORROSION HAS AFFECTED ALL VISIBLE BRAKE LINES. THE METAL HAS BEGUN TO FLAKE OFF ON ALL THE LINES DUE TO CORROSION. THERE IS A VISIBLE LEAK IN THE BRAKE LINE, BELOW THE DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER DOOR. THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVABLE IN THIS CONDITION. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT 40 MPH WHEN TRAFFIC STOPPED AHEAD. APPLIED BRAKES BUT BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR WITH ONLY VERY MINOR BRAKING. AVOIDED ACCIDENT BY USING EMERGENCY BRAKE AND SWERVING ON TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. THERE WAS NO WARNING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL OF LOW BRAKE FLUID, LACK OF BRAKING CAPACITY OR ANY OTHER PENDING BRAKE MALFUNCTION. AFTER GETTING VEHICLE SAFELY HOME A VISUAL INSPECTION REVEALED A MAJOR LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM ABOVE THE VEHICLE FRAME, BELOW THE DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR BOARD. MAJOR CORROSION HAS OCCURRED IN THE VICINITY OF THE LEAK. ALTHOUGH THIS IS A 2000 VEHICLE, IT ONLY HAS 74,480 MILE OF USE. AN INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT AN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : EA11001 HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED FOR SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON YORK ROAD IN MARYLAND GOING ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SUDDENLY STOPPED. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. FORTUNATELY I HAD KEPT A GOOD DISTANCE BETWEEN MY CAR AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. MY VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ABOUT HALF AND INCH AWAY FROM THE CAR IN FRONT. AFTER THIS I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. DEALER FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING HENCE THE REASON FOR THE CAR NOT BRAKING PROPERLY. *TR

I WAS HAVING BODY WORK DONE ON MY ABOVE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THE BRAKES LINES WERE RUSTED. I HAD A GM MECHANIC LOOK AT THEM. HE INFORMED ME THEY WERE RUSTED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. I HAVE ORDERED STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES AND WILL HAVE THEM INSTALLED PRIOR TO USING THE VEHICLE AGAIN . CERTAIN PARTS OF MY FRAME IS ALSO RUSTED TO THE POINT OF PEELING. *TR
MY FAMILY AND I (2 ADULTS AND 2 CHILDREN) ALONG WITH 2 OTHER BOYS (AGE 14) WERE DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. MY HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO STOP AT A LIGHT AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKES WERE INACTIVE. THE ROAD DECLINED STEEPLY FOR SOME TIME AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE AS HE TRIED EVERYTHING (E.G., SHIFTING TO LOWER GEAR, EMERGENCY BRAKE, PARK) TO STOP THE CAR. AS WE WERE CLOSE TO A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND RIVER, MY HUSBAND HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO STOP THE CAR BY CRASHING INTO AN EMBANKMENT. GIVEN THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE, IT WAS A HORRIFIC CRASH. I'M STILL RECOVERING FROM MULTIPLE BROKEN BONES. MY SON HAD TO HAVE EXTENSIVE SURGERY ON HIS FACE. WE ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. IT APPEARS BRAKE FAILURE IN THIS AGE AND MODEL OF CHEVY IS NOT UNCOMMON AND THE COMPANY IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. HOW CAN THEY STAND ASIDE AND RISK SO MANY LIVES? ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE CRASH, OUR CAR HAD PASSED ITS ANNUAL INSPECTION AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. NO BRAKES ISSUES WERE IDENTIFIED. BETWEEN THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL CHORES OF RECOVERING, IT HAS TAKEN ME THIS LONG TO GATHER THE ENERGY TO WRITE THIS COMPLAINT. OWNERS SHOULD BAND TOGETHER TO SUBMIT A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. CHEVY NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. OUR FAMILY IS LUCKY TO BE HERE. WE WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CHEVY VEHICLE AGAIN. *TR

THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 126,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
MY 2000 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN AT LOW SPEEDS (AROUND 10 MILES PER HOUR)THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE FOR NO REASON. THIS ACTION EXTENDS MY STOPPING DISTANCE AND ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ALMOST CAUSES AN ACCIDENTS. I'M TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEED SENSORS ON THE FRONT WHEELS. *TR
HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH ANTI LOCK BRAKES ON 2000 CHEVY SUBURBAN. TWICE HAVE HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR LOW SPEED ANTILOCK BRAKE FAILURE. 10/27/2010 BRAKES FAILED AT 50 MPH AND RESULTED IN CRASH. INVESTIGATION THUS FAR SHOWS NO FAULTS ON SYSTEM COMPUTER AND MECHANIC HAS BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE INCIDENT. WEATHER AT TIME OF INCIDENT WAS LIGHT MIST AND ROAD WAS NOT SLIPPERY. *TR
BRAKE PEDAL SUDDENLY AND RAPIDLY WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE TO NO BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS. FRONT BRAKES RETAINED MINIMAL BRAKING WHILE REAR APPEARED TO HAVE NO BRAKING EFFECTIVENESS. WAS ABLE TO BRING VEHICLE TO STOP AND LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE AND OBSERVED BRAKE FLUID RUNNING ONTO THE GROUND FROM UNDER THE LEFT (DRIVER SIDE) REAR PASSENGER SEAT ALONG THE FRAME RAIL BY THE GAS TANK. UPON INVESTIGATION FOUND THE MAIN BRAKE LINE FROM THE ABS UNIT TO REAR AXLE HOSE CONNECTION WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND BLOWN. THE REPAIR REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE AFFECTED BRAKE LINE AND THE SYSTEM REQUIRED BLEEDING. *TR

THE DEALER CONFIRMED THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGERS SIDE BRAKE LINES. THE DEALER ADVISED THE BRAKE LINES WERE LEAKING DUE TO CORROSION. THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER AND THERE WERE NO ADDITIONAL FAILURES. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE10010 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: POWER ASSIST: HYDRAULIC: HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

SUBURBAN DASH FIRE WHILE SITTING IN COSTCO PARKING LOT. CAR FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN THREE MINUTES. FIREMAN SAYS IT WAS A ELECTRICAL DASH FIRE. CAUSE UNKNOWN.
WHILE MAKING A LOW SPEED SHARP LEFT TURN, MY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID HITTING ANYTHING. DIAGNOSIS AT THE DEALER WAS THAT THE SHAFT ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD SNAPPED. WHILE LOOKING AROUND ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF OTHERS HAD THIS PROBLEM, I DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 05V005000 ISSUED IN JANUARY 2005 WHICH APPEARS TO DESCRIBE MY EXACT PROBLEM. I HAD BEEN INFORMED OF SEVERAL RECALLS BY CHEVROLET FOR OTHER PROBLEMS BUT HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE OF THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AND WAS UNAWARE OF THE POTENTIAL DANGER. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE VIN NUMBER OF MY SUBURBAN WAS NOT ON THE LIST OF AFFECTED VEHICLES. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS CUSTOMER CARE (CASE #71-523372221) AND THEY VERIFIED THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF THE POPULATION OF SUBURBAN COVERED BY THIS ACTION. THIS IS A DANGEROUS MATTER. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING OR IF I HAD BEEN TRYING TO AVOID SOMETHING IN THE ROAD AT HIGH SPEED, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2000 SUBURBAN ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN SHE HEARD A LOUD SOUND WHICH SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING HIT THE VEHICLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, WE SAW THAT THE TOP OF THE REAR WINDOW HAD AN INDENTING LIKE SOMETHING HAD HIT IT AND DAMAGED THE REAR GLASS. SO WE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH STATE FARM AND TOOK IT TO A BODY SHOP. THE BODY SHOP LOOKED AT IT AND SAID THAT THE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE RIGHT HINGE BREAKING WHICH HOLDS THE REAR GLASS TO THE BODY. THE HINGE JUST BROKE ON ITS OWN. AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I HAVE FOUND OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE. IT WILL COST ABOUT $1000 TO REPAIR THIS AS THERE IS NO FORMAL RECALL AT THIS POINT IN TIME. *TR
IN JULY 2006 MY REAR PASSENGER WINDOW STARTED TO NOT WORK ALL THE TIME. THE WINDOW WOULD STICK PART WAY UP, OR DOWN. THE DOOR HINGES ALSO STARTED TO SQUEAK REALLY BAD. ON ONE DAY WHILE TRAVELING WITH 4 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK A CHILD HAD OPENED THE WINDOW ABOUT THREE INCHES, IT THEN STUCK. WHEN WE PARKED HE TRIED TO OPEN THE BACK DOOR, THE DOOR STUCK AT ABOUT SIX INCHES OPEN. AN ADULT PASSENGER PULLED THE DOOR OPEN. THE WINDOW EXPLODED IN ALL DIRECTIONS SPRAYING GLASS ON ALL THE CHILDREN AND THE ADULT. THE CHILD HAD DOZENS OF SMALL CUTS ON HIS LEGS AND ARMS. I HAD THE WINDOW REPAIRED , BUT THE MOTOR WORKED JUST FINE AT THE BODY SHOP. ON SEPTEMBER 10TH THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME IT WAS MY 12 YEAR OLD SON WHO OPENED THE STICKY DOOR. (THE WINDOW WAS UP THIS TIME) THE WINDOW EXPLODED AGAIN. HE WAS CUT ALL OVER HIS ARMS AND THE FLYING GLASS TOOK PAINT OFF THE DOOR. I HAVE THE CAR AT THE BODY SHOP AGAIN AND THEY WILL TRY AND FIND THE PROBLEM. THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALER IS 45 MILES AWAY, WHEN I CONTACTED THEM THEY WERE UNAWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS OR DOOR HINGES ON THE SUBURBAN. SINCE THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN IN A WRECK AND HAS HAD MEDIUM USAGE THIS PROBLEM IS VERY SCARY. THESE CARS ARE THOUGHT OF AS RELIABLE AND SAFE FAMILY CARS, BUILT "CHEVY TOUGH". IN 2004 I HAD A FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE. A LOUD WHINING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FUEL TAKE AREA. ALL OF A SUDDEN I BEGAN HAVING FUEL FLOW PROBLEMS. AS I ENTERED AN INTERSECTION I HAD A FUEL SYSTEM FAILURE WHICH ALMOST RESULTED IN A VEHICLE COLLISION. FORTUNATELY THE OTHER DRIVER WAS ABLE TO AVOID MY STALLED OUT VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AT 900+ COST. MAY 2006 I AM NOW AGAIN NOTICING SOME FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEMS LIKE THE ONES BEFORE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS WEBSITE AN OBSERVING THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON FUEL SYSTEMS ON 2000 SURBURBAN'S SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING. HIGH BEAMS AND OTHER LIGHTS ALL WORK. THE LOW BEAMS CAME BACK ON AFTER 1/2 HOUR THE FIRST TWO TIMES, BUT NOW ARE NOT WORKING AGAIN. I PURCHASED A 2000 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN NEW IN JULY OF 2000. WITHIN 2 YEARS OF PURCHASE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WOULD NOT HOLD VERY WELL. LIVING IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. THIS SEEMED ODD SINCE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS RARELY USED. I NOTICED IT GRADUALLY GETTING WORSE.
