NO CRASHES OR INJURIES. ON 2 OCCASIONS, WITH THE IGNITION OFF AND LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WAS CLEANING THE INTERIOR WITH THE DOORS OPEN AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. DROVE THE VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE AFTER RECHARGING THE BATTERY. VEHICLE FAILED TO START FOR RETURN TRIP. TOOK VEHICLE (2007 SUBURBAN LTZ TO DEALER FOR AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECK. THEY REPORTED THAT EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK. HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT OF NOSTART TRYING TO LEAVE HOME DURING A SNOW STORM. FINALLY REPLACED THE BATTERY AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. RANGE OF DATES IS FROM JAN 2008 THROUGH JAN 2010. *TR
THIRD INCIDENT FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING IN (D) THE TRANSMISSION WILL DISENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE ENGINE WILL REV UP (3RD & 2ND GEAR) SEEM TO WORK STILL. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM 25 TO 55 MILE PER HOUR. ONLY ONE TIME HAS IT BEEN CLOSE TO AN ACCIDENT WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. THE DEALER HAS MADE INSPECTIONS OF THE TRANSMISSION ONCE, THE SECOND TIME THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AFTER KEEPING THE VEHICLE MORE THAN 5 DAYS. THE SUGGESTION FROM THE DEALERSHIP MANAGER WAS TO WAIT FOR IT TO HAPPEN AGAIN, PLACE THE VEHICLE IN EITHER 3RD OR 2ND GEAR DRIVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP LEAVING IT IN 3RD OR 2ND GEAR APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE SO THAT THE MANAGER AND A MECHANIC CAN GET INTO THE VEHICLE AND TEST WHAT'S WRONG. THE 3RD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IT WAS AROUND 8:30 P.M. AND WE WERE UNABLE TO TAKE IT IN TO BE EXAMINED. THIS PROBLEM IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHILE MAKING A TURN OR AT ANYTIME WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *CN
2007 CHEVY SUBUBAN REGISTERED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF VANDERBILT SITTING IN PARKING LOT, THE ENGINE WAS OFF AS WELL AS WAS THE IGNITION. SUDDENLY FROM WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT A MASSIVE FIRE BROKE OUT, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM THE CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE TENNESSEE. RESPONDED AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. INITIAL INVESTIGATION FROM THE OFFICERS AT THE SCENE INDICATED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE COMING FROM THE CONTROL RELAY BOX ATTACHED TO THE LEFT SIDE FENDER WALL. VEHICLE IS A 2007 CHEVY SUBURBAN PURCHASED 10-31-2006 WITH 320,000 MILES ON VEHICLE POLICE & FIRE AT SCENE. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 SUBURBAN THAT CONSUMES APPROX 1 QT OF OIL EVERY 800 MILES. AT 1200 MILES/QT THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS "NORMAL CONSUMPTION". I WENT TO ANOTHER DEALER THAT CONFIRMED THE 800 MILES/QT AND IS INSTALLING NEW PISTONS AND RINGS NEXT WEEK. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT A FIX BUT SHOULD HELP WITH CONSUMPTION UNTIL A PERMANENT FIX IS MADE BY GM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING ON THE INSIDE OF THE STEERING COLUMN AND WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WAS LOCATED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS ABOUT THE AIRBAG POSSIBLY DEPLOYING INADVERTENTLY OR THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD DETACHING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
2007 SUBURBAN LTZ BATTERY HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DRAINED 2X WITHIN ONE MONTH. ONCE AFTER HAVING THE DOORS AND BACK OPEN FOR APPROX 10 MIN AND THE OTHER AT A CAR WASH WHILE THE STAFF CLEANED THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ( APPROX 10 MIN). FIRST TIME DEALER BLAMED THE COLD AND THE LACK OF DRIVING AT THE TIME, HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND THE BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DEAD. WILL BE TAKING TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. READING THE REVIEWS AND AM ASTONISHED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BATTERY DRAIN ISSUE. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS A FAMILY VEHICLE, BUT AM VERY CONCERNED WITH ITS RELIABILITY. THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE FOR A FAMILY WITH CHILDREN. *TR
CUT FINGER ON DOOR OF 2007 SUBURBAN DUE TO FAILURE OF PLASTIC CHROME ON INTERIOR DRIVER DOOR HANDLE. OTHER HANDLES IN CAR ARE ALSO FAILING. REPORTED TO DEALER AND THEY REPORTED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND FAILURES AS WELL AS OTHER CUT HANDS AND FINGERS WHICH SHOULD INDICATE A DESIGN FLAW. *TR
CHROME COATING ON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES PEELED AND PRESENTED A SHARP EDGE THAT CAUSED SEVERAL MINOR CUTS TO FINGERS ON VARIOUS DATES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK AND THE EVAPORATION VENT AND FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE BEGAN BURNING OIL AND THE CONTACT HAD TO REFILL THE OIL EVERY TEN DAYS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.

MY SUBURBANS DASH HAS CRACKED IN TWO SPOTS. ONE BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ONE TO THE LEFT/UPPER OF THE DRIVER SIDE CLUSTER.
VEHICLE IS BURNING APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. *TR
WE HAVE A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN LTZ. WE PAID EXTRA FOR AN AUTOMATIC REAR LIFT GATE, WHICH YOU CAN OPEN WITH YOUR KEY REMOTE,. LAST WEEK THE AUTOMATIC GATE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. THE GATES LIFTS UP A FEW FEET THEN SLAMS BACK DOWN. LUCKILY OUR SMALL CHILD DID NOT GET UNDER THE LIFT GATE OR I AM AFRAID SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED BY THE REAR GATE SLAMMING CLOSED. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE GEARS ARE STRIPED ON THE LIFT GATE. 2 1/2 YEARS OF USE AND THE GEARS ARE STRIPED? *TR
THE REAR (THIRD ROW) SEAT BELTS RANDOMLY LOCK UNDER NON-EMERGENT CONDITIONS. THE TENSION ON THE BELT BECOMES EXTREME SUCH THAT THE CANNOT RELEASE THE BELT AND REQUIRES ASSISTANCE, RESULTING IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE THE OCCUPANT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO EGRESS IN AN EMERGENCY. THE SITUATION IS MADE WORSE BY PASSENGERS IN THE THIRD ROW SEAT WHO ARE ADULTS AND/OR MAY BE OVERWEIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER HAS MODIFIED THE THIRD ROW SEAT BELTS IN APPARENT RECOGNITION OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS NOT CHOSEN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM IN EARLIER VEHICLE DESIGNS. *TR

DASH CRACKED ON RIGHT SIDE AT AIR BAG AND ON LEFT SIDE BEHIND STEERING WHEEL. RETAINING CLIPS THAT HOLD DASH TOGETHER ARE ALSO BROKEN AND CAUSING THE DASH TO BE LOOSE AROUND AIR BAG AREA. SAME ONGOING ISSUE AS REPORTED BY THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS.

DOOR HANDLES ARE SEPARATING FROM THE BODY. POSE A DEPARTURE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. 3 OF 4 DOOR HANDLES ARE COMING OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE FRACTURED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO REPLACE THE HANDLES YET THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY OFFERED TO ASSIST WITH THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT HANDLES BUT WOULD NOT COVER THE LABOR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HANDLES WERE POORLY MANUFACTURER AND A SAFETY HAZARD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 66,000. UPDATED 12/19/11 *CN
EVERY 4-5 MONTHS THE BATTERY GOES DEAD. IT'S AS IF THE LIGHTS OR SOMETHING WAS LEFT ON BUT ONCE WE GET IT STARTED AND CHECK EVERYTHING THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING LEFT ON. AFTER GETTING IT STARTED IT WILL GO ANOTHER 4-5 MONTHS AND BE COMPLETELY FINE THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT WILL BE DEAD AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5-6 TIMES OVER THE LAST THREE YEARS. *TR
HAVE REPLACED ALL 4 DOOR HANDLES DUE TO PLASTIC BREAKING
BOTH FRONT SEAT FEMALE SEATBELT CONNECTORS IN MY 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE DRIVERS SIDE TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO LATCH AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES NOT LATCH AT ALL. THIS IS BEING REPAIRED (PART COVERED BY CHEVY, LABOR AT MY EXPENSE) TO PREVENT AN INJURY OR DEATH IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHILE DRIVING FROM MICHIGAN TO FLORIDA AT 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES EXHIBITED A REALLY LOUD GRINDING NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER IN KENTUCKY BUT, DUE TO AN ICE STORM, THERE WAS NO ELECTRICITY. APPROXIMATELY 12 MILES FROM HIS DESTINATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT HE HAD NO BRAKING POWER. HE PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO LOW GEAR AND APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WHEN NECESSARY IN ORDER TO REACH HIS DESTINATION. HE THEN DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT ALL OF THE COMPONENTS APPEARED DISINTEGRATED ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE SYSTEM. THIS WAS DEEMED AS THE LIKELY CAUSE OF THE BRAKE FAILURE. THE REAR AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONAL IN COMPARISON TO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKES. THE MECHANIC REPAIRED THE DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE CYLINDER, DISCS, AND PADS AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FAILURES SINCE THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST BECAUSE THE DEALER DID NOT PERFORM THE REPAIRS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000. UPDATED 4/23/09 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE LEFT FRONT BRAKE WAS NOT RELEASING AND THERFORE DESTROYED THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM. UPDATED 04/27/09.*JB
THE PLATTING OR PLASTIC COVERING ON INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE SEPARATES FROM HANDLE ALONG A SEAM ON TOP EDGE OF THE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE. PASSENGER'S HAND WAS CUT SEVERELY REQUIRING MEDICAL ATTENTION. UPON EXAMINING HANDLE ON DRIVER'S SIDE THE SAME CONDITION IS BEGINNING TO OCCUR. I HAVE HAD TO WRAP TAPE AROUND THE HANDLES TO PREVENT FURTHER INJURY. *TR
PLASTIC DASH HAS SEVERAL CRACKS FROM FRONT TO BACK. ONE NEAR PASSENGER AIR BAG. IF THIS WERE TO DEPLOY IT COULD ADD ADDITIONAL DAMAGING DEBRIS. ALSO APPEARANCE IS BAD AND DEVALUES VEHICLE. HAPPENED WITHIN THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF OWNERSHIP AND CONTINUED USE OF STATIONARY, IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAY DRIVING.
IN OCT. 2007 I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN FROM GORDON CHEVROLET IN TAMPA FLORIDA, IT HAD 20 MILES ON IT. ON DECEMBER 9TH 2008 WHILE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK, AT APPROXIMATELY 12:45 AM, IT EXPLODED AND WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. I RECEIVED 2ND AND 3RD DEGREE BURNS AND WAITED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR CLOSE TO 30 MINUTES FOR HELP TO ARRIVE. THE SUBURBAN HAD ABSOLUTELY NO AFTERMARKET CHANGES OR ANY TYPE OF MODIFICATIONS DONE TO IT. ALL OF ITS SERVICING AND REPAIR WORK WAS DONE AT COX CHEVROLET IN BRADENTON FLORIDA, A GENERAL MOTORS DEALERSHIP. THE TRUCK HAD JUST OVER 35,000 MILES ON IT AND IS NOW JUST A BURNT OUT SHELL. DURING THE 1 YEAR AND 2 MONTHS I OWNED IT, I HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH IT AND TOOK IT TO THE SERVICING DEALERSHIP FOR ALL THE PROBLEMS. MY ATTORNEY AND MY INSURANCE AGENT THINK IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OR A DEFECT IN THE REPAIR. AN OFFICIAL CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED AND BECAUSE OF GM'S GOING BANKRUPT THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED. *TR
PURCHASED NEW AND OWN A 2007 CHEVY SUBURBAN. WE HAVE CUT OUR HANDS SEVERAL TIMES OPENING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WHEN PULLING THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE INWARD. THIS HAS BEEN CAUSED BY THE PEELING FAKE CHROME PLASTIC THAT COVERS THE INSIDE HANDLE. THIS PEELING FAKE CHROME CREATES A SHARP EDGE AS IT PEELS OFF THAT IS DIRECTLY POSITIONED TO RUB ACROSS ONE'S FINGERS AS YOU PULL THE DOOR HANDLE IN TOWARD YOU TO OPEN THE DOOR. *TR
SINCE 2008 OUR SUBURBAN HAS REQUIRED OIL SERVICING ON AVERAGE EVERY 2 MONTHS. WE TOOK IT TO MANY DEALERS AND WAS TOLD WE NEEDED TO BE ABLE TO TRACK THE CONSUMPTION SOMEHOW. I STATED, CAN'T YOU CHECK WHEN THE OIL SERVICING LIGHT COMES ON AND WAS TOLD NO. DON'T KNOW WHY IT CONSUMES SO MUCH OIL AND IT'S NOT LEAKING. *TR
AIR BAG SENSORS IN MY CHEVY 2007 SURB. KEPT GOING BAD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
GAS LEAKING FROM TOP OF GAS TANK ON SUBURBAN. IT HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES SINCE JUNE OF 2007. NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN, DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL OF THE TIME, ABOUT EVERY 4 MONTHS. IT ISN'T A LITTLE BUT A LOT CAUSING A PUDDLE AND A HORRIBLE GAS SMELL FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS IN MY VEHICLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS EVERYONE AROUND THE STATION IS ASTONISHED AT HOW MUCH IT LEAKS AND THAT I GET IN THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE OFF. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLAIMS TO REPLACE A VALVE WHEN THIS HAPPENS, BUT THEN WHY DOES IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. LAST WEEKEND THIS HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY (3 KIDS UNDER 4 ARE IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS) WHILE ON VACATION. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS VERY SCARED AND ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT MAKING SURE WE WERE NOT AROUND ANYTHING HOT OR ANYBODY SMOKING. AS ONE CIGARETTE WOULD HAVE PUT OUR VEHICLE INTO SHOOTING FLAMES. WE WERE ALSO ALL EXPOSED TO THE FUMES ALL WEEKEND LONG. *TR
I STOPPED INTO TO TETON MOTORS IN JACKSON, WY. AND TOLD THEM I HEARD A SQUEAL FROM MY BRAKES. THEY ASKED HOW MANY MILES ON THE CAR I TOLD THEM 36,000. THEY SAID NOT TO WORRY THAT I WOULD NOT NEED THE BRAKES DONE TILL 100K. I TRAVELED 1,000 MILES HAD THE OIL CHANGED AND DISCOVERED THAT MY REAR INSIDE BRAKE PAD WAS GONE. IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE OF LACK OF PARTS SO I MADE THE RETURN TRIP UNDER THOSE CIRCUMSTANCES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. WHENEVER THE CONTACT WOULD ATTEMPT TO START THE VEHICLE, IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE SUSPENSION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED BY THE DEALER SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE FAILURE, BUT IT STILL PERSISTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,911 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN. SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE RECEIVED A TRANSMISSION FLUSH, IT WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD IN THE DRIVE POSITION AFTER BEING PLACED INTO REVERSE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THREE PLATES, A VALVE, FILTER KIT, AND A GASKET KIT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED LESS THAN A YEAR LATER AFTER ANOTHER TRANSMISSION FLUSH WAS PERFORMED. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HESITATE AND THE ENGINE REVVED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS LOSING SPEED. SHE DROVE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT SHIFTING PAST FIRST GEAR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE ORIGINAL REPAIR, BUT THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. THROUGH ONLINE RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME DEFECT. SHE BELIEVES THAT A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,414 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 123,000.

THE INSURANCE COMPANY SENT A CRASH TEAM TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE AND THEY STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS NO RECALL, THE AIR BAG SENSORS WERE TOO SENSITIVE AND WOULD ACTIVATE WITHOUT WARNING. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY OBSERVED SEVERAL SIMILAR INSTANCES WITH THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 24,000.
WE WENT ON VACATION AND GOT A HOLE IN THE TREAD OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE ON JUNE 3, 2008. WE GOT IT REPLACED, AND BLEW OUT THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE ON JUNE 5, 2008. WE GOT TWO NEW TIRES AND PUT THEM ON THE REAR AND MOVED THE OLD TIRES TO THE FRONT. ON JUNE 18, 2008 WE GOT ANOTHER HOLE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. WE GOT RID OF THE FIRST TWO TIRES, BUT STILL HAVE THE TWO WE MOVED TO THE FRONT. *TR

WE HAVE A 2007 CHEVY SUBURBAN IT STARTING USING EXCESS OIL AROUND 21,000 MILES WHEN HAVE HAD 2 OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AT THE DEALER. THEY REPLACED VALUE SEALS 1,4,7,6 ..THEN STARTED ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. LOW AND BEHOLD IT LOST A QUART AT 1750 MILES. THEY ARE NOW LOOKING AT REPLACING LIFTERS...WE CURRENTLY HAVE 33,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE..HAVE TO KEEP RUNNING BACK EVERY 500 MILES TO GET THIS CHECK. AT FIRST THEY KEPT SAYING NORMAL TO LOSE A QUART OF OIL BUT NOW REALIZE IT IS NOT NORMAL..HAVE YET RESOLVED THE ISSUE. MUST BE ON THE GAS SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH COMING OFF THE BRAKE TO PREVENT ROLLING BACKWARDS INTO CARS OR PEOPLE. HAPPENS IN DRIVE, THIRD AND FIRST. TRANSMISSION LOCKS IN SECOND. WHILE DRIVING APPROX. 20 MILES AN HOUR THERE WAS A LOUD THUD AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BOTH CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. THE SUBURBAN WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS IT TOOK 3 DAYS FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE COMPUTER RELAY WAS AFFECTING THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AND #7 CYLINDER HAD SEIZED. I DROVE 287 MI. TO LAS VEGAS AND ON THE RETURN TRIP AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. I DROVE 64 MI. @76 MPH WHERE I CAME TO A TOWN WHERE REDUCE TO 25 MPH REQUIRED AND AT THE END OF TOWN THE SPEED INCREASE TO 35 MPH FOR A MILE AND 45 MPH FOR A MILE AND AS I TRIED TO INCREASE MY SPEED TO 60 MPH THE CAR STARTED TO SPUTTER FOR A 1/4 TO 1/2 MILE AND THE ENGINE FAILED (STOPPED) AFTER THE ENGINE POWER FAIL I PULLED OFF ROAD AND TRIED TO START THE TRUCK WITHOUT ON RESULT FOR THE ENGINE. I CALL NHP TO HELP WITH MY LOCATION AND TOW. I NEEDED TO GET HOME BY THE NEXT DAY I CALLED VISTA CHEVROLET FOR SERVICE AND COULD NOT DO THE WORK THE SAME DAY I USED AND INDEPENDENT TO REPLACE MY FUEL PUMP WHICH WAS ORDERED FROM THE DEALER. *TR
NO CRASHES OR INJURIES. ON THE INDICATED DATE I HAD THE ENGINE TURNED OFF WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION, LISTENING TO THE RADIO. AFTER A SHORT TIME APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, I DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED. I HAVE BEEN CAREFUL NOT LET THESE INCIDENTS OCCUR AGAIN BUT IT HAS REPEATED AT LEAST 6 TIMES. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS WHEN I HAD A FLAT TIRE REPLACED AND THE TIRE SERVICE TECH ATTEMPTED TO REPROGRAM THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM AT WHICH TIME, THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED IMMEDIATELY. THE REPROGRAMMING WAS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE THE BATTERY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ELECTRICITY TO COMPLETE THE TPMS. I FOLLOWED THE OWNER'S MANUAL'S INSTRUCTIONS' AND HAD THE SAME RESULTS, A DEAD BATTERY AND UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT. I NOW HAVE A USELESS TPMS AND THE DANGER OF GETTING STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERS TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM STARTING AT $99.00 +. A NEW VEHICLE SHOULD BE FREE OF THESE TYPES OF DEFECTS. I SHOULD NOT BE PAYING FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

RECENTLY, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE AUTHORIZED DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A COMPONENT IN THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED WITH THE OVERHEATED UNIT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

I IMMEDIATELY NOTIFIED GM AND IT HAS TAKEN THIS LONG TO GET SOME ASSISTANCE. THEY OFFERED TO PAY HIS MEDICAL EXPENSES, WHICH WERE ALREADY COVERED WITH OUR MILITARY INSURANCE, AND 300 FOR HIS PAIN AND SUFFERING. WE DECLINED THE 300 BECAUSE GM WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY EVEN GOING AS AFAR AS TO SAY THAT I MAY HAVE CAUSED THE DAMAGE BY PULLING HIM OUT FROM UNDER THE DOOR. WHEN I ASKED THE CLAIMS LADY IF I SHOULD HAVE THEN ALLOWED THE CARGO DOOR TO KEEP CLOSING ON MY SON'S HEAD SHE SAID I DON'T KNOW I WASN'T THERE.
