MINNESOTA IS A "SALT" STATE. THE BEARING/ABS SENSOR ASSEMBLY HAS BECOME "BAD" ON MY 2000 TAHOE CAUSING UNWANTED AND UNSAFE ABS ACTIVATION AT SLOW SPEEDS PARKING OR JUST BEFORE COMING TO A FULL STOP. THE RECALL SHOULD COVER MINNESOTA AS A STATE WITH CORROSION IMPACTS. A $35,000 VEHICLE 5 YEARS OLD, TRUCK CLASS SHOULD NOT REQUIRE CONSUMERS TO PAY $578 PER WHEEL TO CORRECT AN OBVIOUS AND UNSAFE DESIGN FLAW.*JB
DT: THE VEHICLE WILL STOP, BUT THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. MANUFACTURER'S RECALL # 05060 WAS ISSUED. THE CONSUMER COULD HEAR THE ABS KICK IN WITH EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. STARTED NOTICING THIS PROBLEM ON AUGUST 15, 2005. THIS USUALLY HAPPENED ON DRY PAVEMENT. CONTACTED THE DEALER, THEY SAID THIS ONLY APPLIED TO THE RUST BELT STATES. *AK *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT A SPEED OF 35 MPH, THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNWANTED ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATION. WHEN THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF, THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WOULD CONTINUE TO RUN. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THE ONLY WAY TO DEACTIVATE THE ABS SYSTEM WAS TO REMOVE THE FUSE AND THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE TO BE DIRECTLY RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: ANTILOCK). THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE RECALL WOULD ONLY APPLY TO THE SALT BELT STATES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 133,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE THAT HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES. THIS HAPPENS AT LOW SPEEDS. IT SOMETIMES FEELS AS THOUGH IT MAY NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER FOUND RECALL 05V379000 ABOUT THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE CONSUMER DID NOT LIVE IN THE STATE IN WHICH WAS AFFECTED, BUT HE FELT HE WAS HAVING THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEM AS NOTED IN THE RECALL. THE CONSUMER HAS NOT CONTACTED GM AT THIS TIME. NO REPAIRS OR CORRECTIONS AT THIS TIME HAVE BEEN PERFORMED AT THE DEALERSHIP. *AK
ABS ACTIVATES AT SPEEDS UNDER 10 MPH. INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCES HAS CAUSED MANY NEAR MISS COLLISIONS.
DT: THE FAN THAT COOLS THE MOTOR HAS NO CAGE, HAD A KITTEN CRAWL INTO THE FAN WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. IT CUT THE KITTEN ,AND CONSUMER HAD DIFFICULTLY GETTING THE KITTEN OUT. *AK
ABS MOTOR WILL NOT STOP RUNNING. DEALERSHIP PULLED FUSE TO DEACTIVATE THE ABS SYSTEM. ABS LIGHT AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT ARE NOW CONSTANTLY LIT.

I HAVE A 2000 CHEVY TOHOE WHICH HAS MASSIVE CORROSION ON THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. WE BOUGHT AND USED THIS VEHICLE FOR COUPLE YEARS IN MINNESOTA. WE NOW RESIDE IN TEXAS. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED AND IS COMMON WITH VEHICLES FROM UP NORTH. WE FIND THIS HARD TO BELIEVE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD.
I HAVE A CHEVY TAHOE 2000 NEW AND MY CAR HAS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME STOPPING AT SLOW SPEEDS. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A YEAR NOW AND HAVE BROUGHT THE CAR INTO A GMC SERVICE STATION NUMEROUS TIMES. EACH TIME THEY HAVE JUST CHARGED ME FOR BREAKS AND NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM.
CONTACT STATES: HER SON WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC AT 30-35 MPH WHEN VEHICLE IN FRONT OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE , AND CONTACTS SON HIT THE BRAKES BUT DID NOT STOP AND THE TRUCK JUST KEPT GOING.*AK
REAR FRONT SIDE SEAT BELTS WOULD NOT ENGAGE PROPERLY. RETRACTOR FAILED TO LATCH OR RELEASE ON ITS OWN. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE SEAT BELTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP, MY CHEVY TAHOE'S ANTI LOCK BRAKES RANDOMLY KICK ON AND KEEP MY VEHICLE FROM COMING TO A REGULAR STOP, MY BRAKING DISTANCE IS VARIED.
DT: THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED, AND THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. WHILE SITTING AT A STOP SIGN THE VEHICLE STALLED. THIS HAPPENED ONLY ONCE. THE FUEL GAGE HAD NOT BEEN WORKING PROPERLY FOR ABOUT EIGHT MONTHS. NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN# 05V155000 CONCERNING FUEL PUMP FAILURE WAS ISSUED. THE AFOREMENTIONED SYMPTOMS WERE TYPICAL FOR FAULTY FUEL PUMP WIRING. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THE CONSUMER MADE CONTACT BY PHONE WITH BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER IN AN ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONSUMER'S REQUEST WAS DENIED BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK (12/02/05) *SC
UPON STOPPING ON SLICK ROADS, THE ANTILOCK SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND THE MOTOR CONTINUES TO RUN ALL DAY, EVEN AFTER SHUTTING ENGINE OFF. HAD TO REMOVE THE MAXI FUSE TO SHUT IT OFF. I KNOW OF TWO OTHER GM TRUCKS OF THE SAME MODEL AND YEAR WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. THIS IS A SMALL TOWN AND 3 VEHICLES WITH THE SAME SAFETY PROBLEMS IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY A RECALL. *NM
WHILE LOWERING DRIVER'S POWER WINDOW A SNAP OCCURED AND THE WINDOW FELL TO THE BOTTOM. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL REPAIR CENTER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS A DEALER ONLY ITEM. THAT THE ENTIRE REGULATOR ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I SPOKE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THEY HAD GONE THROUGH HUNDREDS! I VEIWED THE BROKEN ITEM AND THE STEEL CABLE SEEMED TO BE A DESIGN FLAW, ALLOWING WATER TO SETTLE AT CABLE ENTRANCE. WHY REPLACE THE ENTIRE REGULATOR $235.91?*AK
CONSUMER STATES BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR. BRAKE LINES TO REAR RUSTED THROUGH. REPLACED 4 LINES FROM FRONT TO REAR. *BF WHILE BRAKING THE VEHICLE'S BRAKE LINE RUPTURED CAUSING EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. DURING REPAIR OF THE BRAKE LINES THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONSUMER THAT THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM SELF ACTIVATES AND WILL NEED NEW HUBS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. WITHIN DAYS THE CONSUMER OBTAINED A COPY OF THE RECALL AND CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE RECALL WAS ONLY APPLICABLE IN CANADA. *NM
TIRES ROUTINELY REQUIRE AIR TO BE ADDED. TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND CONTINUE TO REQUIRE AIR BE ADDED EVERY FEW WEEKS. HAVE ASKED THE DEALER REGARDING THIS AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES RELATED TO RIM LEAKS OR REASONS FOR THIS. HAVE NOTICED THIS ISSUE ON OTHER TAHOES. *NM
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HIT A PATCH OF ICE WHICH SENT THE VEHICLE SLIDING, AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, AND CONSUMER WAS INJURED. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND MANUFACTURER. *AK CONSUMER FEELS THAT MUCH OF THE PAIN AND SUFFERING MIGHT HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY THE PROTECTION OF THE 4 AIR BAGS IN THIS TAHOE-NONE OF WHICH DEPLOYED UPON AN IMPACT THAT CRUSHED THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. JAMMED TH EFRONT PASENGER DOOR WHICH CONSUMER COULD NOT OPEN , AND BENT THE CAR'S FRAME BEYOND REPAIR. *BF

MY CAR WAS EXTENDED INTO INTERSECTIONS NUMEROUS TIMES BECAUSE THE ABS KICKED ON. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS IN PARKING LOTS WITH OTHER CARS BECAUSE THEY WILL KICK ON.
DT: THE CONSUMER OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE FRONT SEATS WOULD SLIDE ON THE RAIL. THE PASSENGER SIDE BEGAN TO DO THIS FIRST AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONSUMER HE WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. BOTH SEATS ARE NOW SLIDING ABOUT 5 INCHES BACK AND FORTH. THE GM MANUFACTURER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO SEE IF IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND MAYBE THEY COULD WORK WITH HIM TO GET IT CORRECTED IF IT WAS A DEFECT. *JB
I TOOK MY TRUCK TO ISLAND CHEVROLET FOR THE ANTILOCK RECALL AND I MENTIONED ABOUT THE RECALL FOR THE AIR BAGS ON THE CHEVROLET TAHOE 2000 BECAUSE MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. I WAS TOLD MY 2000 TAHOE IS NOT ON THE RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS THE MODEL MADE LATER IN THE YEAR. BUT WHEN THEY PUT THE TRUCK ON THE DIAGNOSTIC THEY FOUND IT HAD RIGHT & LEFT SIDE DEPLOYMENT LOOP RESISTANCE LOW. THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME $800.00 AND SINCE I HAD TO FIX MY 4 WHEEL DRIVE ALSO I COULD NOT AFFORD IT. BUT IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO THE LATER MODELS OF 2000 ALSO. I KNOW OF A COUPLE OF PEOPLE THAT ALSO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THEY ALSO HAVE THE LATER 2000 MODEL. *NM
ABS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ENGAGE ITSELF DURING NORMAL BRAKING. THIS CONDITION CAUSED LOSS OF BRAKING OR EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE.VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, AND DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK
REAR BRAKE ROTORS ARE COMMING APART, SECTIONS OF THE ROTORS ARE MISSING. *AK
CONSUMER CLAIMS THAT TURN SIGNALS ARE INOPERATIVE. THEY ONLY WORK INTERMITTENTLY. VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.*AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE TURN SIGNALS ARE INOPERATIVE. CURRENTLY, THIS PROBLEM IS BEING RESOLVED BY A RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT IS DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. ALSO, THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE INOPERATIVE. *AK
BRAKE FAILURE 2000 CHEVRO TAHOE. ORIGINALLY BELIEVED TO BE PREMATURE ENGAGEMENT OF ABS SYSTEM. FOUND DUE TO "RUSTED AND PITTED" ROTORS THAT TORE APART ALL FOUR BRAKE PADS. PREVIOUSLY (3X) ADVISED DEALERSHIP OF BRAKE PROBLEMS AND TOLD THAT "EVERYTHING WAS O.K.". SERVICE MANAGER ADVISES THIS IS A CONTINIOUS AND ONGOING COMPLAINT AND PROBLEM WITH THE GM VEHICLES (PREMATURE RUSTING AND PITTING OF ROTORS. *AK
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE/PARKING WAS REPLACED THE FIRST TIME ON 10-30-2002. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THE EMERGENCY BRAKE HAD FAILED AGAIN. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *JB
FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRE FAILURE P265/75R/16, COMING OFF HIGHWAY AT APPROX. 55 MPH SLOWING DOWN TO AROUND 45MPH WHEN HEARD A SOUND LIKE SOMETHING WAS SCRUBBING. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED FRONT LEFT TIRE FLAT. HAS 4 INCH LONG SLIT WITH A SLIGHT CURVE IN IT. STRESS CRACKS SIMILAR IN CURVATURE ALL AROUND SLIT AND TIRE.*AK
DT: WHILE DRIVING ON DRY PAVENT AT 45 MPH, ANOTHER CAR CUT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE OFF, AS HE ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE, UNREASONABLE STOPPING WAS NEEDED. NARROWLY AVOIDED COLLISION WITH THE OTHER VEHCILE. NO WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE. THIS OCCURRED UNDER EMERGENCY BRAKING CONDITIONS. FRONT ANTI LOCK B RAKE SYSTEM WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE BRAKE PEDAL RESPONDED BY DEPRESSING ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, BUT VEHICLE WAS NOT RESPONDING.*AK
UPON SETTING THE CRUISE CONTROL VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT HIGHER SPEEDS THEN EXPECTED. *AK UPDATED 11/16/10*BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS SET AT 65 MPH, BUT THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OVER 85 MPH. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL, BY APPLYING THE BRAKE. UPDATED 11/24/10
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE THE ABS ACTIVATED FOLLOWED BY A VIBRATION, ALLOWING THE PEDAL TO GO TO THE FLOOR. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THERE WAS NHTSA RECALL 05V379000 INVOLVING THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE MANIFESTED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL . HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH HOOD FLEW UP. *AK
HAD TO GET ON MY BRAKES VERY HARD WHEN THE ABS KICKED IN THEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR AND THE BRAKES FAILED CAUSING ME TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES TO ME, JUST ONE ACCIDENT FROM IT SO FAR.
TOOK VEHICLE FOR YEARLY INSPECTION, AND THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE FAILED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN TWO YEARS THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED LEADING TO EXPENSIVE REAPIR WORK. WE NEVER EVEN USE THE PARKING BRAKE!*AK
REAR WINDOWS INTERMITTENTLY WOULD NOT WORK AND THEN BOTH FAILED AT THE SAME TIME. N EEDED TO REPLACE BOTH MOTORS AND REGULATORS.COST OF REPAIR EXCEEDED $425.00. APPARENTLY THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS AND A KNOWN DEFECT LIKE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER.*AK
I HAVE A 2000 TAHOE CHEVROLET LTD. SINCE 3/04 IT HAS FAILED TO START ABOUT 7 OR 8 TIMES. IT USUALLY OCCURS IN THE MORNING WHEN I'M LEAVING FOR WORK. ONCE WE WERE ON OUR WAY TO THE HOSPITAL FOR MY 14 MONTH OLD'S BROKEN ARM. IT TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START. I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN THE SHOP CHECKS IT SEVERAL HOURS LATER, IT STARTS. THEY HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL ITEMS. NONE OF WHICH HAVE WORKED. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THEY WERE JUST REPLACING THINGS THAT MIGHT BE CAUSING THE PROBLEM. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING. *AK
2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE. DRIVERS DOOR POPPED OPEN ON THE HIGHWAY, LATCHED FAILE. ED MORSE CHEVY THEN SAID I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINES DUE TO CORROSION. CHEVY IN DETROIT SAID IT WAS DUE TO THE ENVIROMENT.*AK
I HAVE ENCLOSED A LETTER WITH FAX DESCRIBING EVENTS. THANK YOU. NO COMPONENT MENTIONED IN SUMMARY. *AK THE CONSUMER WROTE A LETTER ON BEHALF OF HER SISTER WHO IS THE OWNER OF THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION. THE OWNER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED HE HAD NEVER SEEN A REAR DIFFERENTIAL IN THAT STATE AND FOUND IT TO BE RARE AND VERY UNUSUAL FOR A VEHICLE OF THAT AGE/MILEAGE. HE ADVISED THE OWNER TO CHECK TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL. UPON CONTACTING GM, THE CONSUMER LEARNED THERE WAS NO RECALL. GM INSTRUCTED THE OWNER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE GM LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND MECHANIC AGREED THIS WAS UNUSUAL AND THAT GM SHOULD COVER AT LEAST 75 PERCENT OF THE REPAIR. BY THIS TIME, THE OWNER HAD THE NECESSARY REPAIR COMPLETED. *PH
ANTILOCK BRAKES ACTIVATE AT UNDER 10 MPH ON CLEAR ROAD. THIS IS ON A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE
PARKING BRAKE HAS PREMATURELY FAILED.*AK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE ABS SYSTEM DISENGAGED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LUNGE FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WOULD RE-ENGAGE IF THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RELEASED AND THEN DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WOULD BE AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD VEER TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FOR A PERIOD OF TIME AND THEN TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, A BURNING OIL ODOR WOULD COME FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, IT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS ENGINE OIL LEAKING FROM THE MAIN SEAL AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM REST OF TIRE WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY. AS TREAD SEPARATED FROM RIGHT FRONT TIRE, IT STRUCK THE TUBULAR RUNNING BOARD, BREAKING THE RIGHT FRONT PLASTIC STEP OFF. IT ALSO STRUCK THE RIGHT-SIDE MIRROR, BREAKING THE PLASTIC SHELL AND MOTORIZED ADJUSTMENT CONTROLS, AND STRUCK RIGHT REAR FENDER FLARE, CAUSING IT TO BECOME LOOSE. AT THIS POINT, IT IS UNKNOWN IF OTHER DAMAGE WAS CAUSED, AS I HAVE YET TO TAKE IT TO SERVICE SHOP FOR ESTIMATE. TIRE THAT SEPARATED WAS PROPERLY INFLATED PRIOR TO TRIP FROM YUMA TO PHOENIX. TIRE BRAND WAS FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT, WHICH WAS NOT LOT # RECALLED IN PRIOR PROBLEMS CONCERNING FORD EXPLORERS WITH FIRESTONE TIRES. VEHICLE WAS 2000 CHEVY TAHOE 4-DR 4X4 Z71.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR ROTORS WERE FLAKING AND CHIPPING ALONG THE INSIDES. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE REAR ROTORS. ALSO, HE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT ROTORS ALONG WITH THE ABS INTERMITTENTLY FAILING. HE RECEIVED ANHTSA RECALL 05V379000 ON THE ABS. RECALL REPAIRS WAS PERFORMED. THERE HAVE BEEN NO FURTHER PROBLEMS SINCE THE REPAIR. *AK UPDATED11/29/05. *JB
MY REAR WINDSHIELD COLLAPSED INTO PIECES WHEN I OPENED THE CARGO DOOR. THE SHATTERED GLASS FLEW EVERYWHERE AND RESULTED IN MINOR CUTS SCRAPES, AND NOT TO MENTION INCONTROLLABLE TEARS ON MY 6-YR OLD DAUGHTER AND MYSELF. THE SERVICE DEPT. EMPLOYEE STATED SEVERAL VEHICLES HAVE GONE FOR THE SAME REASON. MY PARKING BRAKE IS INOPERABLE AND CAUSED MY VEHICLE NOT TO PASS INSPECTION. MY CO-WORKER HAD THE SAME PROBLEM JUST YESTERDAY AND IT NEEDED ALL OF THE CABLING REPLACED. WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY WE LOST 3 TIRES AND THE MEN AT THE TIRE SHOP TOLD US THAT OUR TRUCK WAS MISSING THE PINIONS ON ALL FOUR WHEELS AND THE DANGERS IT CAUSED. I HAD THEM ADDED TO MY TRUCK AND HAVEN'T HAD A TIRE BUST SINCE. NEVER GOT COMPENSATION. I THINK THIS IS SOMETHING I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR. ITS RIDICULOUS HOW THESE NEW VEHICLES ARE FALLING APART AND NO ONE IS ON OUR SIDE. *NM
WHILE BRAKING CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. DEALERSHIP INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM PERTAINED TO CRACKS ON ALL FOUR ROTORS. THE PROBLEM WAS NOT RESOLVED.
DT: 2000 CHEVROLET TAHOE . THE CAR WOULD BACK FIRE THROUGH THE FUEL INJECTION. THE FUEL PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO. *AK
WHILE THE VAN WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING TODDLER POKED HEAD OUT OF THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW, AND PUT HAND ON THE DOOR ARM REST, WHERE THE POWER WINDOW CONTROLLER SWITCH WAS LOCATED. THE WINDOW STARTED GOING UP, TODDLER PANICED AND PUSHED DOWN HARDER ON THE CONTROLLER SWITCH, AND WINDOW CONTINUED GOING UP AND CHOCKED THE TODDLER. CONSUMER FELT THAT A CHILD PROOF DEVICE SHOULD BE INSTALLED IN ALL OF THE WINDOWS TO PREVENT SUCH INCIDENT FROM OCCURRING. *AK *NM
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING ABS ACTIVATED AT LOW SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING. THIS OCCURRED ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS UNDER NORMAL BRAKING, AND THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED REPEATABLE. THE WHEEL SENSORS WERE REPLACED. THERE WAS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V379000 CONCERNING THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, BUT THE STATE OF VIRGINIA WAS NOT INCLUDED. HE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE MANUFACTURER ,AND THEY INDICATED MORE STATES WERE GOING TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST. *AK
I TOOK MY CHEVY 2000 TAHOE LTD, FOR ITS FIRST CALIF. SMOG TEST AND WAS TOLD "EVERYTHING WAS FINE EXCEPT THE GAS TANK CAP." "THE CAP FAILED THE PRESSURE TEST AND ESCAPING FUMES COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION." I HAD THE CAP REPLACED AND WAS FURTHER TOLD, "THIS TEST FAILURE IS HAPPENING TO ALL 2000 MODEL YEAR TAHOES, SURBURBANS & SLIVERADOS" THIS TECHNICIANS HAS TESTED. IS THIS POSSIBLE HAZARD AND CORRECTING IT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CHEVROLET/GM??? *JB
