MY SPEEDOMETER FAILED 5/14/2009 AND THE GAS NEEDLE FAILED SHORTLY AFTERWARD. THEY ARE COMPLETELY NO RELIABLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 54,000.
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS; THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED INTO FOUR-WHEEL LOW GEAR WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE DRIVER PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. IMMEDIATELY, THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED INTO TWO-WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE FOUR- WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH MODULE AND THE ENCODER MOTOR TRANSFER CASE ACTUATOR. BOTH COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES FOR WHICH THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE VEHICLE SERVICE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 36,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
LOOKED DOWN AT THE SPEEDOMETER AND IT READ 90 MPH WHEN I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 55 MPH. THEN WHEN STOPPED IT DOESN'T GO TO ZERO IT STAYS AT AROUND 25-35 MPH, STANDING STILL. *TR
2004 CHEVY TAHOE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TAHOE WITH 87000 MILES ON IT. PROBLEM IS INTERNAL GAUGE CLUSTER DEFECT. IN OTHER WORDS, THE SPEEDOMETER DOESN'T WORK. CHEVY/GM ADMITS THAT CERTAIN VINS HAD DEFECTIVE CLUSTERS INSTALLED (INCLUDING MINE) YET THEY WILL NOT RECALL THEM AND/OR REPLACE THEM UNLESS THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THEN 70000 MILES ON IT. THE FACT THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND NOT JUST NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND ALSO THAT THOUSANDS OF CHEVY/GM OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM SHOULD CONSTITUTE A RECALL, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. THERE ARE SPEED LIMITS SET ON ALL ROADS BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT TOO HIGH OF A SPEED. IF WE COULD ALL ACCURATELY JUDGE HOW FAST WE WERE GOING WE WOULD NOT NEED SPEEDOMETERS. HOWEVER, WE DO NEED THEM AND WHEN THEY ALL THE SUDDEN YOUR SPEEDOMETER STARTS GOING CRAZY (I.E. SHOW YOUR SPEED AS 120 WHEN YOU ARE IN FACT DOING 30 OR SHOWING IT AT 35 WHEN YOU ARE DOING 75) IT BECOMES A SAFETY CONCERN. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR WANTS $575 TO FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE PART AND GM/CHEVROLET HAS TOLD ME "SORRY, CAN'T HELP YOU". *TR
I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION HEADING NORTHBOUND, GOT THE GREEN ARROW, SO PROCEEDED TO GO. MY VEHICLE WAS GOING ABOUT 5-10 MILES PER HOUR. ANOTHER CAR COMING THE OPPOSITE WAY, HEADING SOUTHBOUND RAN THE RED LIGHT GOING ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR. MY AIR BAG DID NOT BLOW. I DRIVE A 2004 CHEVY TAHOE. I HAD MY 6YR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. WE BOTH GOT INJURIES. THE OTHER CAR'S AIRBAG BLEW . MY CAR WAS CRUSHED LIKE TIN FOIL AND I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE AIR BAG DID NOT GO OFF. *TR
I OWN A USED 2004 CHEVY TAHOE AND HAVE RECENTLY STARTED HAVING SPEEDOMETER PROBLEMS, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS WAS A COVERED ITEM TO FIX FREE OF CHARGE BECAUSE OF SOME SPECIAL CLASS ACTION, BUT HOWEVER MY TAHOE HAS JUST OVER 72,000 MILES THAT IT IS NOW NOT COVERED. I OWN A 2004 CHEVY TAHOE. ON JANUARY 14, 2009, MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. AT FIRST, WHEN I WOULD START THE CAR AND DRIVE, IT WOULD WORK BUT AFTER ABOUT 10 MIN. IT WOULD START INDICATING THE WRONG SPEED. IT'S NOW BEEN A FEW DAYS AND THE SPEEDOMETER ISN'T WORKING CORRECTLY AT ALL. WHEN I'M DRIVING APPROX. 30 MILES PER HR., THE NEEDLE READS 120 MPH. I WON'T BE ABLE TO GET MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL NEXT WEEK...BY THE LOOKS OF ALL THE COMPLAINTS, THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MANY 2004 TAHOE OWNERS. MY SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN FREEZING UP AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY LATELY. SOMETIMES, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S COLD OUT, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL STAY AT 0 MPH AND NOT EVEN MOVE - ONCE IT DOES GET GOING, IT GO UP, BUT WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, IT WON'T GO BACK TO 0 - IT MAY STOP AT 20 OR 30. SOMETIME, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL EVEN EXCEED THE MAX SPEED ON THE DASH AND I KNOW I'M NOT GOING THAT FAST. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURING ISSUE WITH MANY USERS OF A '04 CHEVY TAHOE - I WOULD THINK THIS WOULD WARRANT A RECALL IF THIS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE HEARD GM HAD SENT OUT A LETTER ADDRESSING THIS ISSUE, BUT WILL ONLY COVER IT IF THERE'S 70,000 OR LESS ON THE VEHICLE - WHAT DO THE PEOPLE DO IF THEY ARE OVER THAT MARK, WE SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS - ESPECIALLY IF EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM - THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. FAILED SPEEDOMETER. STARTED OF MESSING UP OCCASIONALLY, BUT THEN BEGAN READING THE WRONG SPEED. SAYING THAT I WAS GOING 25 WHEN I WAS REALLY GOING 55. *TR
AFTER COMING OFF CRUISE CONTROL AT 55 MPH AND PROCEEDING THROUGH TOWN, I HIT THE RESUME BUTTON TO ONCE AGAIN INCREASE SPEED FROM 45 MPH TO 55 MPH BUT WHILE ON A ROAD WITH A SLIGHT INCLINE (LESS THAN 5% GRADE.) AFTER PRESSING AND QUICKLY RELEASING THE RESUME BUTTON AS I NORMALLY DO, THE CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATED UNINTENTIONALLY AND PROCEEDED TO INCREASE SPEED TO OVER 101 MPH BEFORE I DISENGAGED IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES ON THIS VEHICLE AND IN THE PAST I ALWAYS WOULD DISENGAGE IT IMMEDIATELY BUT SEEING AS HOW I WAS ON AN OPEN ROAD I FIGURED I WOULD SEE IF IT WOULD DISENGAGE ITSELF. WHEN I FELT I WAS GOING WAY TOO FAST TO TALK A POLICEMAN OUT OF A TICKET AND ACTUALLY DIDN'T FEEL SAFE ANY LONGER I DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL AFTER FIGURING THAT IT WASN'T GOING TO DISENGAGE ITSELF UNTIL THE SPEED LIMITER WAS REACHED. THIS VEHICLE HAS 54000 MILES ON IT AND THE ONLY THING THAT HAS BEEN DONE ON IT WAS THE DASH WAS REPLACED UNDER A RECALL WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVE CALLED GM AND REPORTED THIS BUT THEY HAVE INDICATED THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM IN THE PAST. I USE THE CRUISE CONTROL IN PROBABLY ABOUT 80% OF MY DRIVING AND THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS (ALL WITH MY FAMILY IN THE CAR) AND ON LONGER TRIPS (AFTER DRIVING FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR) IN EXCESS OF 75 MILES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH IN INCLEMENT WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR SERVICE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 42,515.
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE Z71. I HAVE ABOUT 89,000 MILES. MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED ACTING ERRATIC ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. WORKING SOMETIMES AND NOT SOMETIMES. SOMETIMES IT WOULD LOOK LIKE IT WAS STICKING IN THE WAY IT WOULD RISE IN SPEED. NOW IT HAS STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO. WHEN I BOUGHT IT, IT ALREADY HAD OVER 70K MILES ON IT. I HAVE READ ON DIFFERENT FORUMS AND BLOGS THAT GM HAS SENT A LETTER OFFERING TO FIX OR REIMBURSE, BUT ONLY IF UNDER 70K MILES. HOW CAN GM PUT A CAP ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS? *TR
THE VOLTAGE METER BOTTOMED OUT WHILE DRIVING BACK IN 2008. IT ALTERNATED BETWEEN REGISTERING CORRECTLY AND THEN INCORRECTLY UNTIL DEC 2009 WHEN IT BOTTOMED OUT AND STAYED. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT STATE MY BATTERY IS IN BECAUSE OF THIS. I'VE HAD IT CHECKED OUT TWICE BY THE DEALER. THE FIRST TIME, IN DEC 2008, THE METER WORKED JUST FINE AND THE REPAIRMAN COULD NOT GET IT TO BOTTOM OUT DURING AN 18 MILE TEST DRIVE. THE NEXT DAY, IT DROPPED BELOW THE LAST READING POSSIBLE ON THE GAUGE AND I DROVE IT RIGHT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE TAHOE HAD OVER 100,000 MILES ON IT SO IT WOULD NOT HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE PROPOSED CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT FILED BACK IN 2008. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WENT HAYWIRE IT STARTED TO GET STUCK WHILE DRIVING. THEN WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF IT DOESN'T ZERO OUT. IN ORDER TO GET THE NEEDLE TO RETURN TO ZERO YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF UNTIL IT DROP TO ZERO. I CALLED THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER THEY REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE WANT TO CHARGE ME $ 600 TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
MY 2004 CHEVY TAHOE WITH 102,000 MILES HAS SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE THAT SUDDENLY BECOMES ERRATIC WHILE DRIVING AFTER 30 MINUTES AT 50-60 MPH. IT WILL RESET TO NORMAL AFTER A FEW ENGINE STARTS AND SHUTS DOWN. I HEAR THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS OF THIS ERA. ISN'T THIS A SAFETY HAZARD? IS THERE A RECALL?*TR
2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER FAILED AROUND THANKSGIVING 2008 WHILE I WAS OUT OF STATE AND NOT NEAR A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. I WAS OVER THE EXTENDED COVER ALLOWANCE ON MILES. SPEEDOMETER CLUSTERS ON SEVERAL MAKES AND MODELS FOR CHEVROLET VEHICLES ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND CHEVROLET IS NOT RECALLING THEM. SPEEDOMETER ONLY WORKS SOMETIMES. HALF OF THE SPEEDOMETER IS LIGHT UP WHILE OTHER HALF IS NOT. SPEEDOMETER SHOWS 20 MILES AN HOUR WHEN TRAVELING AT LEAST 60 MILES PER HOUR. *TR
SPEEDOMETER IS MALFUNCTIONING BY STICKING WHILE DRIVING AND NOT RETURNING TO ZERO WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. IN ORDER TO GET THE SPEEDOMETER TO ZERO OUT YOU HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF UNTIL THE NEEDLE DROPS TO ZERO. I CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER THEY REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH WANTS TO CHARGE ME $ 600 TO REPLACE THE SPEEDOMETER THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE MALFUNCTIONED IN THE FIRST PLACE. *TR
2004 CHEVY TAHOE WITH 78K MILES. ON A ROAD TRIP, SPEEDOMETER INCREASED TO INDICATE 120+ MPH. WHEN VEHICLE STOPS INDICATOR ONLY FALLS TO 55-65 MPH. NO CHANGE IF VEHICLE IS SHUT DOWN. NO OTHER INSTRUMENTS APPEAR TO BE AFFECTED. APPEARS TO BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT ON THIS ISSUE IN CALIFORNIA. *TR

TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM DO A FULL CHECKUP AND KNOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT MY WARRANTY IS FINISHED BUT I THINK MY DRIVE TRAIN IS WARRANTED LONGER IT SAYS NOTHING IN MY PAPERWORK BUT I WANT TO CLARIFY AND IT SEEMS THAT THIS HAPPENS ALOT AND IT COULD BE A REPEAT OF THE LEMON LAW OF 1998. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. AT 59,000, A PINION SEAL LEAK WAS DISCOVERED. I TOOK IT THE NEXT DAY TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW. UPON EVALUATION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE LEAK HAD RESULTED IN EXCESSIVE METAL FRICTION IN THE GEARS, REQUIRING A COMPLETE OVERALL. THERE IS NO WARNING SYSTEM FOR LOW DIFFERENTIAL FLUID AND LEAKS ARE NOT VISIBLE FROM THE GROUND AS ANY FLUID NORMALLY BLOWS OFF WHILE DRIVING. THE SEAL ON THE REAR AXLE PINION, WHICH PROVIDES POWER TO THE REAR WHEELS, COULD LEAK FLUID, CAUSING THE WHEELS TO SEIZE AND LOCK. NOTE THAT GM HAS RECALLED MANY SIMILAR MODELS, BUT NOT THE TAHOE AT THIS TIME. *TR
SPEEDOMETER STARTED STICKING AFTER REACHING MILEAGE OF 90,000. GOT STUCK AT APX.70 MPH AND AFTER DRIVING AWHILE IT INCREASED TO 120 POINTING SOUTH EVEN WHILE AT A STAND STILL. THEN OIL AND GAS GAUGE STARTED TO ERROR. DEALERSHIP COST OVER $500 TO REPAIR AN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NEVER NOTIFIED, HEARD OF RECALL, OR INFORMED OF PROBLEM FROM DEALER OR MANUFACTURER UNTIL PROBLEM STARTED. SEARCHED INTERNET AND LEARNED OF OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME PROBLEM. CALLED GM AND THEY STATED SOMETHING ABOUT A SETTLEMENT BUT IT WAS TOO LATE AS MY VEHICLE DIDN'T ERROR UNTIL AFTER SOME DEADLINE. I'M BAFFLED AS TO WHY SOME OWNERS WERE EXCLUDED IF PROBLEMS DIDN'T EXIST AT THE TIME GM RECTIFIED OTHERS. IS IT THE OWNERS FAULT THAT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T ERROR BEFORE THIS SO CALLED UNFAIR TIME LINE? IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THE GM REPLACEMENT SOONER, MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE JUST HAD IT REPLACED BEFORE IT ERRORED......WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER GM VEHICLE AGAIN AS THEIR PRACTICES ARE NOT HELPFUL TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR
THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT & MESSAGE CAME ON IN MY 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE DEALER RAN TEST & FOUND THAT THE SENSING DIAGNOSTIC MODULE HAD FAILED THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD, LESS THAN 71,000 MILES. THEY SAID THIS WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE AIRBAG MAY NOT COME OUT IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAD THEM REPLACE THIS MODULE ON 12/30/08 AND PAID THEM $550.49. I DON'T KNOW IF THEY STILL HAVE THE OLD PART OR NOT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE IN AN EXPENSIVE VEHICLE AT THIS AGE, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO RELY ON AIRBAGS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY & SAFELY FOR MANY MORE YEARS THAN THIS. IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS I DISCOVERED THAT MY HORN WILL NOT BLOW WHICH COULD ALSO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. A MECHANIC CHECKED THE HORN AND STATED THAT IT WILL COST AT LEAST $200. TO GO INTO THE STEERING WHEEL & TAKE IT APART TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN A NUMBER OF TIMES BECAUSE THE "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR" MESSAGE COMES UP BUT THE DEALER DOESN'T FIND A PROBLEM. *TR
SPEEDOMETER ON 2004 TAHOE QUIT WORKING. STARTED GETTING STUCK BETWEEN 40 MPH & 120 MPH, BUT NOW HAS STOPPED COMPLETELY. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO, BUT IT STATED THE PROBLEM WAS NOT A RECALL & WOULD REPLACE IT UP TO 70 K MILES. MINE HAS 77 K. JUST MY LUCK. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
JUST BOUGHT A USED 2004 CHEVY TAHOE Z71 AND MY WIFE NOTICED AS SHE WAS TURNING A BUMPING FEEL COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I INVESTIGATED THIS AND FOUND OUT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN A NUMBER OF GM VEHICLES NOT JUST THIS YEAR TAHOE. THERE IS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE STEERING SHAFT. THERE ARE OVER 160 POSTS IN ONE FORUM WITH GM OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME INCIDENT. I WILL GIVE A LINK IF NEEDED. SEEMS THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS OTHER THAN GM ADDING LUBRICANT TO THE AXLE, BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN. I NOW NEED TO GET MINE FIX AND IT JUST SEEMS THAT SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ON A BROAD SCALE TO FIX THIS ISSUE FROM OCCURRING. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55-60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ACTIVATED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MECHANISM FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEACTIVATE THE SYSTEM. THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. RECENTLY, THE FRONT DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER SIDE SEATS FAILED TO RECLINE BACKWARDS. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS WATER LEAKING FROM THE SUNROOF NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE SUN VISOR. FINALLY, THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW AND HEATED SEAT FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VIN AND MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.

ON OCTOBER 11, 2008, THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE FAILED. SOMETIMES THE NEEDLE MOVES, BUT IT IS COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE. THIS FAILURE OCCURS EVERYTIME I START THE ENGINE. WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, I CAN NEVER BE SURE IF I AM TRAVELING AT THE CORRECT RATE OF SPEED. I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE IN THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE REPAIRED YET AS THE COST IS EXTREMELY HIGH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER FOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, WHICH ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALER FOR SERVICE. HE WAS NOT EXPERIENCING ANY FAILURES AT THE TIME THE NOTICE WAS RECEIVED. APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH LATER, THE SPEEDOMETER, HEAT CONTROL, FUEL GAUGE DIAL, AND OTHER INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS FAILED. THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED A HIGHER SPEED THAN WHAT WAS ACTUALLY BEING DRIVEN. AT STARTUP, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH AND THEN LATER REGISTER 120 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALER ADVISED HER TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE REQUIREMENT; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE REPAIR WOULD COST OVER $400 FOR THE PART ALONE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,323 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 77,000.

GM DEALER SAYS OVERHEAING DUE TO CRACK IN CYLINDER HEAD AND CONFIRMED TSB 06-06-01-019B (06/12/2007) APPLIES TO VEHICLE, WHICH ADMITS THERE IS KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN CERTAIN CYLINDER HEADS WHICH CAN CAUSE ENGINE COOLANT TO LEAK INTERNALLY CAUSING OVERHEATING AND POTENTIAL ENGINE FAILURE. DEALER REFUSES TO COVER REPAIR. I HAVE PENDING COMPLAINT WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TO PAY FOR DAMAGE. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT CAN LEAD TO OVERHEATING, ENGINE FAILURE AND POTENTIAL FIRE. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY TAHOE THAT HAS 98000 MILE, IM 2ND OWNER. THE STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WAS MAKING A CLUNKING AND KNOCKING NOISE, WHICH COME TO FIND OUT HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH GENERAL MOTORS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,237 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,000.
