TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 5 MPH WHEN A KNOCKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE UPPER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
2006 CHEVY TAHOE REAR HATCH WILL NOT UNLOCK/OPEN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED WITH THIS VEHICLE. FIRST TIME REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED -- EXPENSIVE REPAIR. NOW FACING HAVING TO HAVE COSTLY REPAIR AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 7 YEARS OLD. THIS IS A KEYLESS ENTRY AND POSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN THE HATCH FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT HAVE THE VIN AT THIS TIME. *TR
I CAME OUT TO PUT SOME ITEMS IN MY TAHOE, I PRESSED THE UNLOCK BUTTON ON MY REMOTE TO OPEN THE LIFT GATE AND TO MY SURPRISE I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR OR THE WINDOW! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR HATCH LOCK FAILED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED AUTOMATICALLY. THE REAR HATCH DID NOT HAVE A LOCK THAT COULD BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY. A PASSENGER IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED IN ORDER TO REMOVE THE PASSENGER FROM THE REAR SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE REAR HATCH ACTUATOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WE ARE UNABLE TO OPEN THE REAR LIFTGATE WITH THE FOB. SO, WE CONTINUED TO LOOK FOR A KEY LATCH AND TO OUR SHOCK WE REALIZED IT COULD NOT BE UNLOCKED MANUALLY. AFTER A LOT OF FRUSTRATION AND ANGUISH OF TRYING TO LOAD GROCERIES THROUGH THE BACK SEAT AND HAVING TO LITERALLY GO OVER 3RD ROW SEAT TO PUT GROCERIES IN CARGO AREA, WE THOUGHT HOW AWFUL IT WOULD BE IF WE NEEDED TO EXIT OUT THE BACK DOOR IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. WE DISCOVERED WE COULD NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN THE LIFTGATE FROM THE INSIDE EITHER. IT GAVE ME A VERY UNEASY FEELING AS WE TRANSPORT CHILDREN TO AND FROM SCHOOL. THIS PROBLEM IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. WE CONTACTED A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO EVEN CHECK OUR VEHICLE UNLESS WE FORK OVER $120.00+ AND THEN WE HAVE TO WAIT A WEEK FOR THEM TO EVEN LOOK AT IT. THIS IS VERY DISHEARTENING TO US AS WE HAVE ALWAYS HAD A LOT OF CONFIDENCE IN THE CHEVROLET NAME, WELL WE ARE NOT SO SURE NOW. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE WOULD NOT RELEASE WHEN ACCESSING FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE ACTUATOR SWITCH WAS REPLACED. ONE YEAR LATER AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE REAR LIFTGATE WOULD NOT LOCK AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. UPDATED 11/5/13*CN
THE REAR DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON MY TAHOE HAS FAILED. MY REAR DOOR DOES NOT LOCK AT ALL. IT IS SUPPOSED TO LOCK ONCE I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR FOR SAFETY IT DOES NOT. I HAVE THE 3RD ROW SEATING AND USE IT FREQUENTLY FOR MY KIDS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL AND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE BY TAHOE OWNERS. THE ONLY PLACE I CAN FIND A REPLACEMENT PART IS THROUGH GM AND IT IS EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE OF DEFECTIVE PARTS. *KB
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TAHOE Z56. WHEN I WENT TO CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE PLUGS AND WIRES, I NOTICED THERE IS AN EXHAUST LEAK AROUND THE # 1 & # 8 MANIFOLD AREAS - AS EVIDENT BY THE BLACKISH COLORING ON RIGHT UNDER THE VALVE COVER IN THESE TWO AREAS. AFTER FURTHER REVIEW, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE # 8 BOLT HAD ALREADY BROKEN OFF (DETACHED HEAD), AND THE #1 BOLT WAS SPINNING/STRIPPED, JUST READY TO FALL OFF. I AM REPORTING THIS SINCE IT APPARENTLY IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. ***** AS I STATED, THIS IS A 2006 TAHOE WITH ONLY 59,082 MILES ON IT. APPLIED BRAKES TO STOP, AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TAHOE SLOWLY STOPPED AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT RELUCTANTLY. I HAD STOPPED WITHOUT A PROBLEM ONLY SECONDS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. CAUSE OF THE BRAKING PROBLEM ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP WAS A BROKEN BRAKE LINE. THE REPAIR SHOP ALSO INDICATED THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SEVERE CORROSION PROBLEMS. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM VEHICLES. AS AN ASIDE, THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER WHO PICKED UP THE TAHOE SAID THAT HE HAS SEEN MANY VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TAILGATE OR BACK GLASS CANNOT BE OPENED. THEY ARE LOCKED, FUSE GOOD. SLIGHT CLICK CAN BE HEARD WHEN TRY TO OPEN, BUT DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS AN ELECTRIC LOCK AND NO WAY TO OPEN MANUALLY. WHEN SEARCH ON THE INTERNET HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS COULD BE FOUND ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM IN THE DESIGN. HUNDREDS OF VEHICLES FROM 2005 TO 2007 HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM . I HAVE SEEN RECALLS EVEN FOR CHILD SAFETY STICKER. I WONDER WHY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFTGATE FAILED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN IT FROM THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2006 LIFT GATE WILL NOT OPEN AFTER 68,000 MILES, DEALER WANTED 500.00 TO FIX.. WHAT A RIP OFF ALSO A VERY SAFETY CONCERN FOR CHILDREN & PETS...ALSO LOADING ISSUES..IN SHORT TERMS SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A (T O Y O T A ) THEY ARE BUILT TO LAST ..END OF STORY.. CHEVY SUCKS. *TR
WHEN I PRESSED THE POWER LOCK OPENER TO UNLOCK ALL THE DOORS IN MY TAHOE, THE LIFTGATE WHERE THE CHILDREN'S SEATS ARE LOCATED DID NOT UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY. IT WAS THEN I DISCOVERED THAT THERE IS NO EMERGENCY OR MANUAL WAY TO OPEN THE LIFTGATE IN THE EVENT OF THE ACTUATOR FAILING! THERE IS NO RELEASE ON THE INSIDE AND NO KEY SLOT OPENER ON THE OUTSIDE. A LITTLE RESEARCH TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL OF CAR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES THAT ARE AN OBVIOUS DANGER TO CHILDREN AND / OR OTHER PASSENGERS. AN EMERGENCY LEVER OR KEYLOCK SHOULD BE MANDATORY ON THESE VEHICLES. *JS
2006 CHEVY TAHOE, REAR HATCH WILL NOT UNLOCK/OPEN. WINDOW WILL NOT OPEN AS WELL, KEYLESS ENTRY SO I HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS. SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE 5 CHILDREN AND THERE IS NO MANUAL WAY TO OPEN THE LATCH FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE OF VEHICLE. JUST SPENT $400 ON A FAULTY ACCELERATION SENSOR THAT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. LOST POWER TO VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY, ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE THAT MIGHT NEED TO BE INVESTIGATED. *KB
2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE W/ 3RD ROW SEATING. THE LIFTGATE LOCK FAILED WITHOUT ANY INDICATION THAT IT WAS GOING OUT. THIS IS VERY FEARFUL FOR OUR FAMILY FOR WHICH WE HAVE SMALL CHILDREN WHO MAY BECOME TRAPPED AND UNABLE TO ESCAPE THIS VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I READ 11 COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THIS SAME MATTER. CHEVROLET ARE AWARE THAT THESE COMPLAINTS ARE OUT THERE AND KNOW THE RISK IN WHICH ARE INVOLVED. WHY SHOULD THEY WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR A DEATH OCCURS DUE TO A DEFECT ON THEIR END. I WOULD HATE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN TO ANYONE AND I HOPE THAT YOU ALL CAN LOOK INTO THIS. NOT TO MENTION THAT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE DOESN'T HAVE A KEY ENTRY TO UNLOCK IT AS WELL. PLEASE LOOK INTO RECALLING WHAT OTHERS HAVE IDENTIFIED AS THE ACTUATOR. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILES WERE 70,000.

2006 CHEVY TAHOE, 63,000 MILES, REAR LIFTGATE STUCK IN LOCKED POSITION. NO MANUAL WAY TO OPEN, IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT/EMERGENCY YOU CAN NOT EXIT FROM THE REAR SERIOUSLY INCREASING THE POTENTIAL TIME TO EXIT VEHICLE. FROM ALL THE BLOG POSTS ETC... THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE LOCKING MECHANISM ITSELF. WE SUDDENLY STARTED NOTICING ODOR AND FOUND LARGE PUDDLE OF OIL SPILL ON GARAGE FLOOR. TRIED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK, IMMEDIATELY TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, WHERE WE BOUGHT IT AND MAINTENANCE RECORDS ARE KEPT, KOONS CHEVY, VIENNA VA (THE DEALER) EXPLAINED THERE IS RECALL ON ONE PART (GASKET) BUT THE BEARINGS ALSO RUPTURED AMONG OTHER THINGS SUCH AS THE AXEL AND DIFFERENTIAL . CHEVROLET SAID THAT THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL BUT THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH MAY HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE THEY JUST "DON'T KNOW" IN OTHER WORDS THIS IS A SERIOUS REPAIR WARRANTY ISSUE/DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE OTHER PART AT THIS TIME WHICH IS THE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR, THIS ALL HAPPENED SUDDENLY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY AND THERE HAS TO BE A LINK AND ONE THING TRIGGERED THE OTHER. THE DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THIS REPAIR CLAIMING THAT EVERYTHING THAT IS SEALED AND ENCLOSED IS COVERED BUT THE OTHER DEFECTIVE PART IS OUTSIDE OF THE ENCLOSURE. KOONS CHEVROLET WANTS TO CHARGE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR IT, AND CHEVROLET WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT, AND THEIR ANSWER WAS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AT THE TIME. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN ILLUMINATING ON THE DASHBOARD MOMENTARILY BEFORE A POWER REDUCED MESSAGE ALSO DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD. DURING THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT A MODULE WITHIN THE THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 03/08/11 *BF UPDATED 1/4/11 *CN
REAR LIFTGATE AND WINDOW FAIL TO UNLOCK OR OPEN WITH KEYLESS ENTRY FOB. THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN OR UNLOCK. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FAILED ACTUATOR AND ALMOST $600 TO REPLACE. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PROBLEMS. STARTED WITH A BATTERY LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY ON, WITH A GOOD CHARGE ON THE BATTERY AND FROM THE ALTERNATOR (BOTH CONFIRMED WITH ELECTRIC METER). ALSO HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. GAUGE SHOWS 1/4 TO 1/2 TANK, AND LOW FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. FILLING THE TANK AT THAT TIME TAKES 22-23 GALLONS, WITH A 23 GALLON TANK CAPACITY. ALSO GETTING A SERVICE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INTERMITTENTLY. CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURES, ALL TIRES SHOW 38 TO 42 PSI, OR OCCASIONALLY THE LFT OR LRT SHOWS --PSI. TIRE PRESSURES CONFIRMED WITH A TIRE GAUGE. SO FAR ALL OTHER GAUGES ARE WORKING GOOD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED SHE NOTICED THAT THE REAR LATCH HAD BECOME INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND ADVISED HER THAT THE LATCH WOULD NEED REPLACING. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURE AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND REFERRED HER TO THE DEALER FOR FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,039 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,039.
MY 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH THE TRACTION ACTIVATION LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE FORWARD NO MATTER HOW HARD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS ENGAGED. THE SENSOR COULD HAVE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS STARTED AT 20,300 MILES THE 1 ST TIME AND AT 45,256 I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOTHING WRONG NO RECALLS ON THIS ITEM. *TR
NO SPECIFIC EVENTS. WE SIMPLY REMOVED THE CUSHIONS AND PADS FROM THE GRACE NAUTILUS BOOSTER SEAT AND NOTICED THAT THE BELT WAS COMPLETELY FRAYED. THE RESTRAINING SYSTEM HARNESS (WHICH LOOK LIKE SEAT BELT MATERIAL) WAS FRAYED ALMOST COMPLETELY THROUGH. WE WOULD NEVER HAVE NOTICED IT HAD WE NOT REMOVED THE PADDING TO WASH IT. LIFTGATE UNLOCK QUIT WORKING AT AROUND 63000 MILES. THERE IS NO MANUAL OR KEY OPERATED WAY TO UNLOCK THE LIFTGATE. IT FAILED IN THE LOCKED POSITION WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO TRAP SOMEONE INSIDE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN WAS TO CRAWL INSIDE THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE, RIP THE PLASTIC TRIM PANELS OFF THAT COVER THE MECHANISM, AND THEN MOVE THE ACTUATOR BY HAND. WHEN I TOOK TO THE DEALER TO CHECK OUT HE WANTED OVER $125.00 TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM, $500 TO REPLACE THE LOCK ACTUATOR, OR $200.00 TO UNLOCK WITH NO REPAIR TO LOCKING MECHANISM. I READ NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. GM SHOULD REALLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TAHOE Z71. IN LATE 2008 IT BEGAN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. DVD PLAYER, BATTERY DRAIN/DEAD, STEREO SYSTEM, WARNING MESSAGES, AND FINALLY THIS LAST TIME MY ENTIRE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED BOTH ELECTRONICALLY AND MECHANICALLY LEAVING US STRANDED FOR A WEEKEND. WE THEN HAD TO DRIVE HOME IN THE SNOW/ICE THINKING WE HAD SOME 4 WHEEL DRIVE BECAUSE THE LIGHT WAS ON AND NO WARNING LIGHTS TOLD US OTHERWISE. WE COULD OF BEEN KILLED WITH NO 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS AFTER A HUGE STORM. I PUT TRUST IN MY TAHOE AND IT LET ME AND MY FAMILY DOWN AND NOW WE WANT IT GONE. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A TOTAL OF 17 VISITS AND 33 DAYS FOR THE VARIOUS PROBLEMS. I TOO HAVE HAD THE TAILGATE HANDLE ISSUE AS WELL. 2-3 X NOW. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE. I TRIED TO GET A NEW CAR FROM THE LEMON LAW BUT I WAS NOT ELIGIBLE TIME WISE. IT SEEMS THE CAR IS FLAWED AND NOT FIXABLE. IT HAS LESS THAN 60K MI ON IT. IF SOMETHING HAPPENS I WILL HOLD GM RESPONSIBLE FOR NOT TAKING ACTION. *TR
2006 TAHOE REAR LIFTGATE WILL NOT UNLOCK, NOR WILL WINDOW OPEN. IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY NOISE. THERE IS NO KEY HOLE TO OPEN MANUALLY. MY GRANDCHILDREN OFTEN RIDE IN THE REAR SEATS, AND THEY WOULD BE TRAPPED IN A COLLISION. THERE IS NO INSIDE HANDLE, EITHER. MY SISTER-IN-LAW HAS AN IDENTICAL MODEL IN WHICH THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED. GM SHOULD IN OUR ESTIMATION, RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE MOST EFFICIENT FIX WOULD BE TO HAVE KEY ACCESS TO UNLOCK. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE LIFTGATE LOCK ACTUATOR QUIT WORKING AT AROUND 67000 MILES. THERE IS NO MANUAL OR KEY OPERATED WAY TO UNLOCK THE LIFTGATE. IT FAILED IN THE LOCKED POSITION WHICH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO TRAP SOMEONE INSIDE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN WAS TO CRAWL INSIDE THE BACK END OF THE VEHICLE, RIP THE PLASTIC TRIM PANELS OFF THAT COVER THE MECHANISM, AND THEN MOVE THE ACTUATOR BY HAND. WHEN I TOOK TO THE DEALER TO CHECK OUT HE WANTED OVER $500 TO REPLACE THE LOCK ACTUATOR. I READ NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR

TWICE IN THE PAST 5 YEARS I HAVE HAD A FLAT TIRE. I ALWAYS HAVE TO ENDURE THE EXPENSE OF A ROLLBACK WRECKER TO TAKE ME SOMEPLACE TO GET MY FLAT TIRE FIXED. THE REASON IS A TERRIBLE SECURITY LATCH ON THE SPARE TIRE THAT SEIZES UP AS SOON AS IT FIRST GETS WET. THIS LATCH WILL NOT RELEASE ALLOWING THE CABLE TO LOWER THE SPARE TIRE TO THE GROUND. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND, MY 2003 SILVERADO 1500 HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I AM TIRED OF ALL THESE EXPENSIVE FLAT TIRES AND LOST TIME. I COULD CHANGE MY OWN FLAT-IF CHEVY WOULD LET ME! 2006 CHEVROLET TAHOE Z71. REAR LIFTGATE FAILS TO UNLOCK. KEYRING AND DOOR PANEL BUTTONS UNLOCK ALL DOORS, BUT REAR LIFTGATE REMAINS LOCKED. THERE IS NO KEY HOLE ACCESS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE LIFTGATE AND THERE IS NO MANUAL LOCK RELEASE IN THE VEHICLE. LIFTGATE PANELS HAD TO BE REMOVED FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO ACCESS THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND MOVE THE LOCK TO DISENGAGE AND OPEN THE LIFTGATE. FURTHER INSPECTION AND TESTING SHOWED THAT LOCKING MOTOR WORKS TO LOCK THE LIFTGATE BUT THE MECHANISM FAILS TO ALIGN PROPERLY WHEN ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK, PREVENTING MECHANISM FROM DISENGAGING. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,326 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 101,000.

MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES SHOW THAT TRANSMISSION REQUIRES NO SERVICING UNTIL 50,000, YET WARRANTY ONLY LASTS UNTIL 36,000. MANUFACTURER IS MISREPRESENTING LIFE OF TRANSMISSION CAUSING UNSAFE CONDITIONS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *TR
