THE MIRRORS ON THIS VEHICLE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE A RECALL BETWEEN DRIVERS BUT EVERY TIME I PUT THE KEY IN THEY SHIFT TO SOME OTHER POSITION. NEVER THE RIGHT ONE, ALWAYS EXCESSIVE CLICKING AND OUT OF POSITION. *TR
THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE RANDOMLY ENGAGED AND THE SELECTOR LIGHTS WOULD SWITCH BETWEEN AWD, 4HI, & 4LO. THIS OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE 4 SELECTOR SWITCH NOW HAS GONE OUT COMPLETELY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. IF THE CONTACT DOES NOT UNHOOK THE BATTERY POST EACH NIGHT, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START IN THE MORNINGS. SHE PURCHASED A NEW BATTERY, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE TIRE MAKES A ROARING SOUND INTERMITTENTLY. NEITHER WEATHER NOR SPEED WERE FACTORS. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE GAS TANK IS LEAKING FUEL BECAUSE IT IS BURNING MORE FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A CHEVROLET DEALER, BUT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FOLLOWING NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS DID NOT APPLY TO HER VIN: 01V126000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER ARM), 03V096000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING:INTERIOR/UNDER DASH), AND 02V121000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 165,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I PURCHASED A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER FROM YOUNGER TOYOTA IN HAGERSTOWN, MD ON MAY 12, 2007. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK AND A HALF AFTERWARDS, I CONTACTED THE SALESMAN THAT SOLD US THE VEHICLE, PHIL YOUNG, COMPLAINING THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS MAKING A NOISE AND THE VEHICLE WASN'T SHIFTING CORRECTLY. HE TOLD ME TO BRING IT IN TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. MY HUSBAND (NOT CAR SAVVY) SAID THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRAILBLAZER AND FELT IT MIGHT BE THE BRAKES CAUSING THE NOISE AND JERKING. I STUCK TO MY GUNS THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND WANTED IT REPAIRED WHILE IT STILL HAD THE 30 DAY WARRANTY. YOUNGER DENIED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AND NOTED MY HUSBAND'S THEORY OF THE BRAKES, BUT NOTHING ABOUT MY COMPLAINT CONCERNING THE TRANSMISSION. THE TRAILBLAZER WAS TAKEN BACK 2 OR 3 MORE TIMES TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WE DEMANDED THEY FIX IT. THE TRAILBLAZER SAT IN THEIR LOT FOR THREE WEEKS BECAUSE WE WOULD TEST DRIVE IT AND BRING IT RIGHT BACK STATING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE. ON OR AROUND JANUARY 14, 2008 THE TRAILBLAZER BROKE DOWN IN CHARLESTOWN, WV. WE TOOK IT BY CREAMERS AUTOMOTIVE, THEY ASKED WHAT THE SYMPTOMS WERE AND THE MECHANIC DROVE AROUND THE BLOCK WITH ME, INSTANTLY STATED THAT IT WAS THE SUNSHELL IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THEY HAD SOMEONE IN EARLIER THAT WEEK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY HAD PURCHASED THEIR VEHICLE AT YOUNGER AUTOMOTIVE AS WELL AND THEY DENIED THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND WOULDN'T NOTE IT ON THEIR PAPERWORK AS WELL. IN MY RESEARCH OF THIS PROBLEM, I FOUND IT TO BE VERY WIDESPREAD, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON ONE WEBSITE ALONE. THE SUNSHELL IS A FAULTY PART THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GM. SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE HURT OR EVEN KILLED IF THIS ISN'T TAKEN CARE OF IMMEDIATELY. GM IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS, MAYBE EVEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND SHOULD TAKE OWNERSHIP OF A PRODUCT THEY PRODUCE AND SELL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH AND THE LIGHTS BEGAN OPERATING NORMALLY. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,210 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,500. THE RECALL NUMBER FOR THIS VEHICLE AND DEFECT IS AS FOLLOWS: 06E025000. UPDATED 02-14-08 *BF UPDATED 02/14/08 *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SWITCHED INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE IN-COVER MOTOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE IN-COVER MOTOR SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME AS WELL AS THE CONTROL MODULE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT 80,000 MILES WITH THE SUNSHIELD AND SUN GEAR HAD TRANS REPLACED WITH NO HELP FORM GM THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2002 TRAILBLAZERS AND UP TRANS I FILL THAT GM NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PRODUCT BE FOR IT KILLS SOMEONE AND MAKE GOOD TO ALL CONSUMERS THAT HAD TO PAY FOR THERE'S TO BE FIXED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK. I TURNED DOWN MY STREET AND THE ENGINE STARTED WHINING AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN 20 MILES PER HOUR. I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND PROCEEDED TO LOOK UNDER THE CARRIAGE EXPECTED TO SEE OIL DRIPPING BUT, I SAW NOTHING. I DECIDED TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE AROUND THE BLOCK BUT I COULD NOT BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THE CAR WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. *TR
THE ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AFTER IT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECURRING OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. MORE THAN FOUR DIAGNOSTIC TEST HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. VACUUM PROBLEM. NO RESOLUTIONS. GAS SMELL WHEN CAR INITIALLY IS STARTED UP. *TR
STRONG GAS SMELL, WITHIN A FEW DAYS COULD SMELL ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO GAS VISABLE AT ANY TIME.FOUND OUT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY HAD RUSTED OUT. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD, WELL TAKEN CARE OF.*CN
THE SIDE MIRRORS WHICH HAVE MEMORY RECALL HAVE NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. THEY SET THEMSELVES TO DIFFERENT POSITIONS INCREASING THE RISK OF COLLISION DUE TO RELIANCE ON THE MIRRORS BEFORE CHANGING LANES, ETC. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE SMELLED A STRONG GAS ODOR IN HIS VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY RUSTED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 71,605 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,585. UPDATED 01/29/08 *BF UPDATED 01/29/08
BACK WINDOW EXPLODED WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. *TR
THIS VEHICLE WOULD GO OUT OF GEAR WITHOUT WARNING BECAUSE OF A FAULTY 4 WHEEL DRIVE SWITCHING SYSTEM. THIS OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC, AND AN UNOCCUPIED PARK SITUATION. THE VEHICLE WENT OUT OF PARK AND ROLLED INTO A DOOR WHILE IN THE GARAGE. THE VEHICLE ALSO WENT OUT OF GEAR IN TRAFFIC SITUATIONS CAUSING THE DRIVER TO FIND THE ROAD SHOULDER. IF THE DRIVER MANIPULATED THE SWITCH IT WOULD SOMETIMES RE-ENGAGE THE TRANSMISSION. AN ENCODER MOTOR SENSOR WAS REPLACED, THEN FAILED IN TWO WEEKS. IT WAS THEN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENCODER MOTOR WAS FAULTY AND CAUSING THE ENCODER SENSOR TO FAIL. REPLACED MOTOR AND SENSOR AGAIN. THIS IS A DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE PART OF THE EXISTING RECALL FOR ALL 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZERS, NOT JUST THE SELECT FEW AS PRESCRIBED TODAY. *TR
WHEN SWITCHING FROM 4 WHEEL TO 2 WHEEL DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION WOULD OCCASIONALLY DISENGAGE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL WHEN PARKED, OR DISENGAGE WHILE DRIVING. *TR
TO GM SERVICE ASSISTANCE, OUR 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IS AT CONNELL CHEVROLET IN COSTA MESA, CA HAVING A NEW ENGINE INSTALLED AT A COST TO US OF APPROXIMATELY $7,000. THE VEHICLE HAS 82,000 MILES. WE HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE USE OF THE VEHICLE SINCE DECEMBER 19 WHEN IT BECAME INOPERABLE GOING DOWN OUR STREET. THE ONLY SIGN OF TROUBLE WAS A MASSIVE AMOUNT OF STEAM COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE HEAT SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED ($7000 MALFUNCTION). THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS, NO BELLS, NO ALARMS, NO INDICATIONS OF ANY TROUBLE...AND THEN...NOTHING. MY HUSBAND HAD THE CAR TOWED THAT NIGHT TO CONNELL CHEVROLET. ON DECEMBER 27TH WE VISITED CONNELL TO GET THE FULL STORY. APPARENTLY THE HEAD GASKET BLEW AGAIN (SEE ATTACHMENT 1), AND SINCE THE HEAT SENSOR WASN'T WORKING PROPERLY, THE ENGINE OVERHEATED AND BLEW (AGAIN, NO SIGN OF ANY TROUBLE BEFORE THIS INCIDENT). NOW WE ARE WITHOUT A CAR AND HAVE A $7,000 REPAIR BILL. NO ONE I KNOW HAS EVER HEARD OF TWO HEAD GASKETS GOING ON A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE AND MILEAGE. THE FIRST GASKET WENT AT 39,000 AND THE SECOND AT 82,000 MILES....HMMMM. TO US THAT INDICATES THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS VEHICLE, AND WE WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU ARE GOING TO ASSIST US. *TR
THE ELECTRICAL GAUGES ON OUR 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN THE FAN CLUTCH FAILED, LEADING TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. THE OVERHEATED ENGINE BLEW THE HEAD GASKET BEFORE THE ENGINE ITSELF BLEW UP. MY HUSBAND WAS HAD JUST BACKED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND HAD DRIVEN ABOUT 200 YARDS WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT WARNING SYSTEMS MALFUNCTIONED: THERE WERE NO LIGHTS, BELLS OR ANY INDICATION THAT COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE WAS IMMINENT. THERE WASN'T EVEN THE ODOR OF AN OVERHEATED ENGINE. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON OUR LOCAL FREEWAY I COULD BE SUING GM OVER MY HUSBAND'S INJURY OR DEATH. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 CHEV. TRAILBLAZER AND 2 WEEKS AGO THE SPEEDOMETER WENT UPSIDE DOWN- IT IS NOT TELLING ME I AM GOING OVER 100MPH OR IT TELLS ME IM GOING 0-TO NOTHING. THE GAUGE IS UPSIDE DOWN AND WILL COST OVER 500 TO GET IF FIXED THIS IS A NEW VEHICLE I DON'T THINK THIS IS FAIR- IF IT WERE A 95 MODEL I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED BUT HOW MANY VEHICLES LOOSE A SPEEDOMETER GAUGE OVER WITHIN A VEHICLE THAT NEW? *TR
ENGINE SKIPPING, 4.3 LITTER, NUMBER 4 CYLINDER SPARK PLUG CODED WITH OIL, NO COMPRESSION. 60,000 MILES UPON DEALER TAKING APART SAID 11 OUT OF 12 HEAD BOLTS WERE CRACKED AND BROKEN. SAID IF HE CANNOT GET OUT THE BOLTS WE NEED TO BUY A NEW ENGINE AT OUR COST. NO WARRANTY ASSISTANCE. EITHER HEAD BOLTS WERE OVER TORQUED AT THE MANUFACTURE OR BOLTS WERE MADE OUT OF DEFECTIVE MATERIAL.*CN
SMELL OF GAS INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AFTER FILL UP. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND NOTIFIED THEM OF AN EMISSION SERVICE BULLETIN #07099 REGARDING A FUEL INLET CHECK VALVE FRACTURE. THE DEALERSHIPS ASSESSMENT WAS THAT THEY FOUND LINES AT TOP OF SENDING UNIT RUSTED AND FUEL LEAKING OUT OF LINES, REPLACED SENDING UNIT. I DO HAVE THE PART THEY REPLACED AND LINES ARE RUSTED BUT SEE NO HOLES WHERE LEAKING OCCURRED. BILL TOTAL WAS $816.78 (219.65 LABOR, 535.60 SENDING UNIT MODULE, 15.30 SEAL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START SO SHE REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER. IMMEDIATELY AFTER REPAIRING THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THE SAME FAILURE. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAS FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 86,000.
MY 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM. ABOUT A YEAR AGO WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY 4-WD SYSTEM, THE DASH SAID SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY PLUG IT IN TO THE COMPUTER AND SAID THEY RECALIBRATED THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WAS A COMPUTER ERROR NOT EQUIPMENT FAILURE. ON DEC 5 OF 07 THE ROADS WERE SNOWY SO I PUT MY VEHICLE INTO 4 WD, BUT THE 4 WD DID NOT ENGAGE AND I SLID OFF THE ROAD AND ALMOST ENDED UP IN A DITCH. AFTER THAT INCIDENT THE SERVICE 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, ON DEC 6 OF 07, I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE, AND NOW MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THIS TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY 4-WD ACTUATOR WAS SHORTED OUT, MY BILL CAME TO $838.07. I CONTACTED SEVEN OF MY FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL, A COUPLE WITH NEWER MODELS, AND THEY ALL EXCEPT TWO OF THEM, HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE ACTUATOR SHORTING OUT. I THEN CONTACTED GM CORPORATE OFFICE ON THIS MATTER AND ASK FOR ASSISTANCE IN PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR DUE TO FAULTY EQUIPMENT AND I SAID THERE IS NO REASON FOR THIS PART TO GO BAD WITH 70,000 MILES ON A 2002 TRAILBLAZER, THEY TOLD ME THAT DUE TO MY YEAR OF VEHICLE AND MILES THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO FOR ME. I TOLD THEM THERE ARE OTHER CASES IN THE AREA WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND I ASKED THEM TO INVESTIGATE THIS BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL, OR FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND FIX IT BEFORE OTHER NEWER MODELS ARE SENT OUT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND SOMEBODY ACTUALLY GETS HURT BECAUSE OF EQUIPMENT FAILURE. GM STATED THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO WITH THIS UNLESS IT TURNS OUT TO BE AN ACTUAL RECALL. SO HERE I AM MAKING A COMPLAINT AND ASKING FOR HELP. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND SOLVED BEFORE SOMEBODY IS SERIOUSLY HURT DUE TO GM EQUIPMENT FAILURE!!! PLEASE HELP!!!! *TR

TRANSMISSION ON 2002 TRAILBLAZER FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME WITHIN 83K. FIRST TIME COMING OFF EXIT RAMP OF HIGHWAY AT 54K. SECOND TIME WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AT 83K. TRANSMISSION IN QUESTION WAS THE L460E. *TR
SMELL OF GAS OUTSIDE MOTOR WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAR HAD DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTORS THAT WERE LEAKING - PARTS WERE REPLACED. *TR
MY 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAS HAD MULTIPLE DRIVE TRAIN/TRANSMISSION FAILURES. IT CURRENTLY HAS 99000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN IN FOR TRANSMISSION COMPLAINTS/WORK ON 5 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE LAST OCCASION BEING NOV. 28, 2007 AT WHICH TIME THE CAR WOULD ROLL BACKWARD WHILE IN PARK. UPON REMOVING THE TRANSMISSION PAN METAL SHAVINGS WERE FOUND. CURRENTLY THIS VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP AWAITING SERVICE/ CALL BACK FROM GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION CUSTOMER CARE AS TO WHETHER THEY WILL COVER FAILURE DUE TO THE WARRANTY OF 5 YEAR WAS UP 8/31/07, WITH SOME TRANSMISSION PARTS WARRANTED FROM REPAIR AT 90,000 MILES. HOWEVER, THE CHEVY SERVICE GARAGE CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT IT IS THE PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PARTS FAILURE, THEREFORE CANNOT GUARANTEE COVERAGE UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN THAT ARE WITH ME DAILY IN THIS VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED DUE TO TRANSMISSION FAILURE TWICE AND NOW THE VEHICLE ROLLS OUT OF PARK. THESE AFOREMENTIONED FACTS MAKE ME FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE. *TR
FOR SEVERAL DAYS, I SMELLED GASOLINE AROUND MY VEHICLE AND HAD TROUBLE STARTING THE VEHICLE. ONCE I GOT IT TO A GARAGES, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS COMPLETELY ROTTEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT HE HAS NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE ON A MODERN VEHICLE. THE FUEL PUMP WAS WORKING, BUT THE COMPONENTS INTO THE PUMP WERE ROTTEN AND LEAKING, THUS REQUIRING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE FUEL PUMP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. MY 2002 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WAS RECALLED IN 2005 FOR A WIPER MOTOR DEFECT. THE DEFECT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED. THE WIPERS NOW EXHIBIT THE SAME PROBLEMS AS STATED IN THE RECALL. I CALLED GM AND THEY WILL NOT AGREE TO REPLACE THE WIPER MOTOR. NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 04V046000. *TR
JAN/FEB 2007. SWITCHED TRAILBLAZER INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE HIGH FOR FIRST TIME SINCE PURCHASE (APRIL 2006), AND WOULD NOT TRANSFER INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE. TOOK TO LOCAL GM DEALER, REPLACED CONTROL MODULE, COST AROUND $700. OCTOBER 24, 2007 WHILE TRAILBLAZER WAS IN PARK AND RUNNING THE VEHICLE CHANGED FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW. THE SWITCH WAS STILL IN THE 2 WHEEL DRIVE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT CHANGE BACK INTO 2 WHEEL DRIVE AT ALL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE GM DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ENCODER MOTOR. NOVEMBER 20, 2007. LEFT VEHICAL RUNNING WHILE IN PARK. WENT INTO A FAMILY MEMBERS HOUSE,THEN RETURNED TO VEHICLE AND BEGAN TO BACK OUT OF DRIVEWAY. AS I WAS BACKING UP, THE VEHICLE STOPPED, AS IF I HAD BACKED INTO AN OBJECT (IE, ANOTHER CAR), I PULLED FORWARD BACK INTO THE DRIVEWAY, AND LOOKED AROUND, SAW NOTHING, AND WAS GOING INTO THE HOUSE TO GET A FLASHLIGHT WHEN THEY NOTICED THAT YET AGAIN, THE TRAILBLAZER HAD CHANGED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK INTO 2 WHEEL DRIVE, AND DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM CHECKED AGAIN. TOTAL COST FOR REPAIRS TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM JANUARY TO DATE IS MORE THAN $1200. *TR

2002 TRAILBLAZER LTZ THE CURRENT AND FAILURE KILOMETRES ARE 106,545 KM. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO HAVE A STRONG ODOR OF GAS INSIDE AND OUT. IT SEEMED AS IF WE WERE CONSUMING GAS AT A VERY HIGH RATE. HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED AND IT WAS NOT VISIBLE WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIPPING FUEL. NOTHING WAS FOUND. LATER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS FOUND TO HAVE CORRODED FUEL LINES ON THE FUEL MODULE SENDING UNIT ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. AT A REPAIR COST OF $850.00. WE FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE AT ANY TIME. WE UNDERSTAND THERE IS AN INVESTIGATION REPORT (NHTSA ACTION#EA07-009) BEING DONE. THIS MANUFACTURERS DEFECT IS A SERIOUS THREAT TO PEOPLE DRIVING THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. PARTS SUCH AS THESE SHOULD LAST LONGER THAN 100,000 KILOMETERS. WE HAVE RETAINED OLD PART FROM DEALER. *TR
I NOTICE A STRONG GASOLINE SMELL AT FIRST, THEN A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS BECAME EVIDENT AT IDLE IN THE DRIVEWAY. I TOOK VEHICLE INTO THE SHOP AND WAS INFORMED OF THE "ROTTED OUT" PUMP FLANGE WAS LEAKING. I PAID ALMOST $700 TO HAVE IT FIXED AND COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER. 12 MONTHS LATER THE GM/DELPHI PUMP FAILED AND I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN! *TR

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD (FORTUNATELY IN A 25 MPH ZONE) WHEN THE TRANSMISSION MADE A LOUD CLUNK THEN WHINE, AFTER WHICH THE ENGINE REVVED AND I LOST ANY ABILITY TO CHANGE GEARS. AFTER STOPPING THE CAR, I FOUND ONLY THE REVERSE WAS NOT WORKING - THE OTHER GEARS WILL SHIFT OVER 3000 RPM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS A FAULTY SUNSHELL GEAR IN THE TRANSMISSION. *JB
AT ABOUT 40,000 MILES IT STARTED MAKING A LOUD ROARING NOISE AT START UP UNTIL YOU GET ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I CHANGED THE PLUGS AND AIR FILTER AT 60,000 AND THE NOISE SEEMED TO GO AWAY. IT WAS SOON REPLACED WITH A SQUEAKING NOISE FROM THE BELT AREA. I TOOK IT IN TO HAVE THE BELT REPLACED AND $90 LATER THAT DIDN'T FIX THE SQUEAKING NOISE. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH ON THE WEB I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE FAN CLUTCH PROBLEM AND THE WATER PUMP BEARINGS WERE GOING BAD. SO I REPLACED THE FAN CLUTCH AND THE WATER PUMP MYSELF FOR $300. THE ROAR IS NOT AS BAD NOW BUT STILL THERE, SHIFTS ABNORMALLY, AND NOW AT 60 MPH IT JERKS FORWARD AND RPMS GO FROM 1500 TO 2000. I RESEARCHED MORE ON WEB AND FOUND THAT AFTER CHANGING THE FAN ASSEMBLY YOU MUST GET THE PCM UPDATED. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER (MAROONE) AND THEY WANT $104 TO DO THAT. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR
I HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THE ENGINE REVVING UP BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT. THESE WERE USUALLY WHEN THE ENGINE WAS COLD SO I ASSUMED THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER 5 DAYS AGO THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THE ENGINE REVVED REALLY LOUD, THE TACH NUMBER WENT WAY UP, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE CLUNKED & JERKED INTO GEAR IT THEN MADE A WHINING NOISE & WHEN I GOT HOME (DROVE IT REAL SLOW & NOT FAR FROM HOME) THERE WAS NO REVERSE. CHEVROLET SAYS THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS & THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED VERY MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM. MY TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP TOLD ME THIS IS THE THIRD ONE IN 3 WEEKS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. CHEVROLET IS REFUSING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. BOTH REAR WINDOW REGULATORS WENT OUT AT THE SAME TIME NOT FROM WEAR HARDLY USED THEM MAKES TO MUCH NOISE. FOUR WHEEL DRIVE DIFFERENTIAL LOCKING HUB LOCKED IN WON'T COME OUT. ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH RADIO, DASH LIGHTS, HEATED SEATS JUST TO NAME A FEW. IDLE NOT RIGHT STALLS OUT WHILE IN PARK SOMETIMES. TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AT 55,000 MILES, NOT DRIVING CAR BUT WAS ABOUT TO RUN ERRANDS. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE POWER STEERING BLOCK, ALTERNATOR, STARTER, TAIL LIGHTS, INSTRUMENT PANEL, RADIO AND ELECTRIC ON A CAR THAT IS JUST OVER 5 YEARS OLD. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, POWER STEERING BLOCK AND TRANSMISSION ARE ALL NOT UNDER WARRANTY. *JB

THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT RETRACTOR LOCKS UP WITH OUT CAUSE .THE PASSENGER HAS TO UNBUCKLE THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE THE LOCK. DEALER HAS CHECKED AND OFFERED TO REPLACE FOR $300. I DECLINED. *TR
