MY 03 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER IS EQUIPPED WITH POWER/MEMORY OUTSIDE MIRRORS. THE MIRRORS WILL NOT STAY IN ONE PLACE WHEN SET. THEY WILL MOVE AT START UP AND WHILE I AM DRIVING. THIS CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR LANE CHANGING ON MULTI LANE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE MIGHT FIX IT BUT THE MIRROR MOTORS MUST BE REPLACED ALSO. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN AFTER THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. ONCE AGAIN THIS CAN CAUSE A REAL SAFETY PROBLEM. *JB
POWER WINDOW SWITCHES FAIL FROM WATER DRIPPING ON THEM WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE LEFT OPEN ARE EXPENSIVE TO REPAIR. THE VACUUM HEATER/ AIR CONDITIONING CONTROLS FAIL TO OPERATE CORRECTLY- THE VACUUM LINES ARE HARD TO FIND AND REPAIR. I WAS TOLD IT MIGHT COST $1000.00 TO REPAIR. THE VEHICLE IS A 2003 CHEVY BLAZER, I AM A MECHANIC AND I CAN NOT FIND WHERE THE VACUUM LINES ARE ROUTED. *JB
2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS: TRANSMISSION SHIFTED VERY HARD FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AND 2ND TO 3RD GEAR AFTER VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR. THIS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A MONTH. FINALLY, THE "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" LIGHT CAME ON DURING ABOUT THE 4TH OCCURRENCE. CALLED ONSTAR AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS A POWERTRAIN/TRANSMISSION PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED SOON. TOOK VEHICLE TO SEVERAL TRANSMISSION SHOPS AND WAS TOLD THAT THE CODE WAS AN 1870 "GENERAL TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE" CODE. TRANSMISSION SHOP INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM IS A RESULT OF A TORQUE CONVERTER FAILURE. TRANSMISSION IS NOW BEING REPLACED AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP WITH COST OF APPROXIMATELY $2900. VEHICLE HAS JUST UNDER 60,000 MILES. IT IS MY INTENSE FEELING THAT THIS TYPE OF REPLACEMENT SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY ON A $38,000 VEHICLE WITH THIS LOW OF MILES. *NM
2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER BLEW A FEW FUSES SO I COULD NOT START THE VEHICLE (SEVERAL TIMES ALREADY), PER DEALER. TACHOMETER JUMPS AROUND, RADIO GETS HOT, ELECTRICAL LIGHTS TURN OFF ALONG WITH HEATER/COOLER, REAR LIGHTS REPLACED THREE TIMES, HOLE IN GAS TANK, DRIVE LINE REPLACED, CONSTANT CHIRPING/TICKING NOISE (OF COURSE DEALER DOES NOT HEAR). PURCHASED BRAND NEW AND HAVE WAY TOO MANY PROBLEMS FOR A NEW VEHICLE. YOU ASKED FOR INCIDENT DATE....THERE ARE SEVERAL. WILL STICK TO TOYOTA'S FROM NOW ON....*JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS RECEIVING A REGULAR MAINTENANCE INSPECTION AT AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP, THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE RIGHT FRONT OUTER TIE ROD ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT, THERE WAS A RATTLING NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SEEN FOR FURTHER INSPECTION. IN ADDITION, NHTSA RECALL, #04V527000 REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING HOWEVER, THE RECALL REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BULBS IN THE EXTERIOR BRAKE LIGHTS, BUT THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT CONTACTED. IN ADDITION, RESURFACED REAR ROTORS AND REPLACED PADS. ALSO, REPLACED REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER ARM. THE DOOR LOCSK WERE INOPERATIVE. THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE. UPDATED 05/30/06. *AK
DRIVER/PASSENGER ELECTRIC WINDOW MALFUNCTIONS IN THAT WINDOW WILL FALL/LOWER ITSELF. DEALER STATED THE ELECTRIC REGULATORS THAT AID/ASSIST THE WINDOW IN RAISING/LOWERING CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION. *JB
AC DELCO FACTORY INSTALLED BATTERY LEAKS BATTERY ACID ON THE POSITIVE SIDE TERMINAL CAUSING MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT TO LOSE ALL POWER INCLUDING LOSS OF BEING ABLE TO OPEN REAR DOOR. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE GEAR SHIFT LOCKED IN THE PARK POSITION WITHOUT WARNING ON THREE OCCASIONS WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO MADE UNKNOWN REPAIRS TO THE GEAR SHIFT. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING A THIRD REPAIR.
I REALIZED THE PROBLEMS WHEN PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT INTO THE STREET, THE TRUCK CAME TO A SUDDEN STOP AND I COULDN'T GET THE ENGINE TO TURN. AT THE SAME TIME I NOTICED ALL GAUGES ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED BLINKING AND GOING BACK AND FORTH. LUCKILY I WAS NOT AROUND A LOT OF CARS AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STARTED AFTER 10 MINUTES. HOWEVER, WHAT IF I WAS DRIVING IN A HEAVILY TRAVELED HIGHWAY? WOULD I STILL BE ALIVE TO MAKE THIS COMPLAINT? A VERY MUCH CONCERNED CHEVROLET OWNER. *NM
I HAVE REPLACE MY TAIL/BRAKE LIGHT SEVERAL TIMES SINCE I PURCHASE THE VEHICLE. JUST THIS MORNING I HAVE TO GO TO CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT TO GET MY BRAKE LIGHT REPLACED. IT COST ME 14.79 TO HAVE IT REPLACED. SO I DECIDED TO RESEARCH THE RECALLS TO SEE IF THERE IS A RECALL. I REMEMBER GETTING A LETTER EARLIER INDICATING THAT THE LIGHT WOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE FOR A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF TIME. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THIS IS CORRECT. THANK YOU, BETTY WILSON. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. AFTER THE CONTACT STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR OPENED AND WOULD NOT SHUT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND PURCHASED A NEW REAR DOOR LOCK COMPONENT. ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS, THE DRIVER SIDE AND REAR DOORS WOULD NOT REMAIN SHUT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WERE RECALLS AVAILABLE ON THE DEFECTS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 350,000. TRAVELING UP A DRAW BRIDGE AT 50 MILES PER HOUR THE TRANSMISSION QUIT COMPLETELY, THE ENGINE WOULD REV UP BUT NO DRIVE FROM THE TRANSMISSION. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE REAR ENDED THE VEHICLE AS WE SLOWED DOWN AND BARELY MADE IT OVER THE TOP OF THE BRIDGE AND THEN COASTED DOWN ENOUGH TO GET OFF OF THE BRIDGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER AND THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MUST BE COMPLETELY REPLACED AT MY COST. THE VEHICLE HAS 64,000 MILES, TOO FEW FOR A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *JB
WHILE DRIVING ACROSS THE WILLIAMSBURG BRIDGE I SUDDENLY LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. THE RPM GAUGE SHOT TO THE HIGH END AND I HAD TO COAST THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE BRIDGE. I WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT, KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. I ASKED THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN WAS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM AND HE POINTED ME TO EDMUNDS.COM TO SHOW HOW MANY POSTS THERE WERE CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP "OVERHAULED" THE TRANSMISSION AND TOLD ME I SHOULD CONSIDER A TRANSMISSION COOLER. I'VE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING WITH THE VEHICLE AND AM CONCERNED THAT I AM ABOUT TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEM, EXCEPT THIS TIME MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED THREE TIMES. THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, #04V527000 CONCERNING THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING; BRAKE LIGHTS HOWEVER THE RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE FIRST TIME THE DEALER REPLACED THE WHOLE UNIT. THE UNIT MELTED AND WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OUT A THIRD TIME AND THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD NOT OFFER A THIRD REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE UNDER THE RECALL.
FUEL TANK LEAKING GAS, SEAL ON FUEL PUMP DEGRADED SAME AS 2002 TRAILBLAZER AND GMC ENVOY RECALL, NO ISSUED RECALL ON 2003 YET. *NM
LEFT REAR DOOR OPENED WHILE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, DOOR FAILED TO LATCH IN CLOSED POSITION AFTER OPENING. 2003 TRAILBLAZER EXT. *JB
5 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER I WENT OUT TO START THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM AND VARIOUS OTHERS AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE CAR WORKED FOR APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER 5 MONTHS AND THE SAME OCCURRED. ON BOTH OCCASIONS THE KEY WAS LOCKED IN THE IGNITION AND ATTEMPTS AT JUMP STARTING THE VEHICLE FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES. SINCE THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED THIS MORNING I HAVE YET TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. THIS CAR ALSO HAS VARIOUS OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SOMETIMES THE RADIO GOES BLANK AND GETS STUCK ON ONE STATION AS WELL AS GETTING EXTREMELY HOT (WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE ALL OF THE PROBLEMS BUT REPROGRAMMED THE RADIO SO IT WOULD NOT GET AS HOT). THE DVD PLAYER JUST STOPS WORKING (WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM). THE BLOWER MOTOR FOR THE REAR AIR WORKS SOMETIMES AND OTHER TIMES IT DOESN'T (THIS WAS APPARENTLY FIXED ONCE ALREADY). THE REVERSE LIGHTS STAY ON WHEN THE CAR IS IN DRIVE (JUST HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND). SHALL I GO ON? *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, FUEL FUMES WERE IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CHARCOAL FILTER, FUEL TANK, AND SOLENOID. THESE ATTEMPTS HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE PROBLEM.
DT*: THE CONTACT OWNS A SAFETY-FIRST CHILD SAFETY SEAT, MODEL NUMBER 22-560 FLG. WHILE THE TODDLER WAS RESTRAINED IN THE CHILD SAFETY SEAT, THE HARNESS BUCKLE ASSEMBLY WAS EASILY DEPRESSED BY THE TODDLER WHICH UNLATCHED THE HARNERSS BUCKLE ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 70 MPH MY SPEED HAND JUMPED TO 110 RPM, WHEN I GOT HOME AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE THE HAND WAS READING 60 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAILBLAZERS. *JB
THE REAR TAIL GATE HAS SEPARATED FROM THE TOP THERE IS A HUGE GAP NOW BETWEEN THE ROOF AND THE UPPER PLASTIC PIECE - BIG ENOUGH THAT WHEN THE DOOR IS CLOSED I CAN FIT MY ENTIRE HAND BETWEEN WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THE SEAL. I WAS LOOKING INTO IT AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO A LOT OF TRAIL BLAZERS AND ENVOYS. I HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW IT EVEN HAPPENED. WHEN I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM THEY ADVISE THAT THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED. *NM
THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON MY DASH AND I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A PART WOULD BE NEEDED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM (SIR COIL) AND THAT MY VEHICLE WARRANTY WOULD COVER THIS ISSUE. ONCE THE CORRECT PART REACHED THE DEALERSHIP, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO GET FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME IN THE MIDDLE OF WORKING ON MY VEHICLE TO NOTIFY ME THAT THERE WAS SOME MISTAKE AND THAT THE WORK BEING DONE ACTUALLY COST ME ABOUT $800.00. I HAD THE DEALERSHIP STOP WORK ON MY VEHICLE AND CALLED THE CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER TO FURTHER INQUIRE ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. (THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT MY AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY IF I NEEDED IT DUE TO THE SIR COIL NEEDING TO BE REPLACED.) I HAD A FEW CONVERSATIONS WITH A CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WHO FINALLY INFORMED ME THAT "THEY COULDN'T HELP ME AT THIS TIME" AND THAT "THIS SERVICE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY" AND "TO SAVE MY RECEIPTS FOR REPAIR". I HAVE NOT YET HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED. I DO NOT HAVE THE EXTRA $800.00 TO SPEND ON THIS REPAIR THAT I BELIEVE IS A TREMENDOUS SAFETY ISSUE. ONE OF THE REASONS I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WAS BECAUSE OF THE PRESENCE OF AIRBAGS. THIS MALFUNCTION WAS DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN AND I HAVEN'T GOTTEN ANYWHERE WITH THE MANUFACTURE. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW. *JB
HATCH BACK/LIFT GATE HATCH BACK BINDS AND BACK WINDOW EXPLODES IN THE MECHANICS FACE KNOCKING HIM TO THE GROUND. THIS LIFT GATE MECHANISM HAS FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THIS TIME THERE WERE POTENTIALLY SEVERE CONSEQUENCES. THIS TIME I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE HATCHBACK AND IT STARTED BINDING, SO I IMMEDIATELY CLOSED IT AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. SINCE THIS HAD HAPPENED BEFORE, I KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT WAS HAPPENING. A FRIEND PICKED ME UP AND DROVE ME TO WORK. ONE HOUR LATER THE DEALER CALLED ME AND SAID THAT THE WINDOW EXPLODED WHEN THE MECHANIC OPENED THE HATCH BACK. HE SAID IT BLEW UP IN THE MECHANICS FACE AND KNOCKED HIM TO THE GROUND. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND SOMEHOW TRIED TO BLAME THE WHOLE THING ON ME. I WAS IN SHOCK. IT WILL TAKE A WEEK TO FIX AS IT INVOLVES BODY WORK, ETC. THE DEALER'S BODY SHOP EXPLAINED THAT THE HIGH MOUNT STOP LIGHT AND TRIM ARE ATTACHED WITH DOUBLE FACE TAPE AND IF THEY COME LOOSE THEY BIND INSIDE THE HATCHBACK. I DON'T FEEL IT IS MY INSURANCE COMPANY'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THE DEALER CAUSED. FIRST, I THINK THEY SENT A ROOKIE MECHANIC TO LOOK AT MY LIFTGATE AND HE FORCED IT OPEN WHICH CAUSED THE EXPLOSION OF GLASS. SECONDLY, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM CREATED BY CHEVROLET'S POOR DESIGN. WHY HAVEN'T THEY DONE A RECALL ON THIS. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME HATCHBACK FAILURE. NOW THE DEALER IS GOING TO FIX MINE AGAIN WITH DOUBLE STICK TAPE AND THIS PROBLEM IS GOING TO OCCUR AGAIN. THE GLASS COULD EXPLODE ON ME ON MY GRANDKIDS OR ANOTHER MECHANIC. I WILL BE NERVOUS EVERYTIME I OPEN THAT HATCHBACK AND I WILL NEVER, NEVER BUY A GENERAL MOTORS CAR AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP TREATED MY HUSBAND AND I TERRIBLY. THEY KNEW THEY HAD THE UPPERHAND IN THE SITUATION AND THEY KNEW THERE WAS NOTHING WE COULD DO. *NM
REGARDING 2003 CHEVY. TRAIL BLAZER (3 ROW SEATING VERSION). THE TAIL GATE BINDS AND WILL NOT OPEN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVY. DEALER. THEY CALLED ME BACK AND SAID THAT THE ENTIRE WINDOW, STRUTS, HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT AND TRIM BLEW OUT WHEN THE MECHANIC OPENED THE TAILGATE TO REPAIR IT. THE IMPACT WAS SO INTENSE THAT IT KNOCKED THE MECHANIC DOWN ON THE GROUND. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS MATTER AND GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. WE OR THE MECHANIC COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED. THEY ORIGINALLY WROTE UP THE REPAIR FOR $25 BUT NOW MY BILL IS $1000. THE DEALER WANTS ME TO TURN IT INTO MY INSURANCE. THE DEALER FORCE THE TAILGATE OPEN AND CAUSED THE DAMAGE. I THINK THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE. *JB
TRANSMISSION JUST FAILED ON OUR 03 TBLAZER BECAUSE OF THE SUN SHELL SPLINE. TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED AT ONLY 45,000 MILES (NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS). *NM
AWFUL, AWFUL SAFETY HAZARD ON MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER!!!!!THE HATCH BACK/LIFT GATE WON'T OPEN - TAILGATE WINDOW EXPLODES IN THE MECHANICS FACE KNOCKING HIM TO THE GROUND. REPRESENTATIVES FROM GM AND FROM THE DEALERSHIP DENY THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER 2003 TRAILBLAZERS. THAT IS A LIE!!!! SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS VERY WEBSITE. COMPLAINT #10121982 TELLS OF A CHILD THAT IS INJURED BY THE EXPLODING GLASS IN THE TAILGATE. REMEMBER THE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE THAT THE DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THAT GM USES TO HOLD ON THE HIGH MOUNT STOP LIGHT AND TRIM??? IN COMPLAINT #10038988 THE COMPLAINANT WAS ALSO TOLD ABOUT THE DOUBLE SIDED TAPE. ARE YOU INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM????? I AM DRIVING A VERY UNSAFE CAR AND I WILL FIGHT UNTIL I GET SOME ACTION. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR NOW FOR 10 DAYS. THE DEALERSHIP INSISTED THAT WE TURN THIS CLAIM INTO MY INSURANCE. $2,650 CLAIM FOR WHAT THE DEALERSHIP SAID WOULD COST $25. THE DEALERS BODY SHOP ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE HIGH MOUNT STOP LIGHT AND TRIM ARE ATTACHED WITH DOUBLE FACE TAPE AND IF THEY COME LOOSE THEY BIND INSIDE THE HATCHBACK. I DON'T FEEL IT IS MY INSURANCE COMPANY'S RESPONSIBILITY TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THE DEALER CAUSED. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM CREATED BY CHEVEROLET'S POOR DESIGN. WHY HAVEN'T THEY DONE A RECALL ON THIS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME HATCHBACK FAILURE. THE GLASS COULD EXPLODE ON ME ON MY GRANDKIDS OR ANOTHER MECHANIC. MY 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT HAS HAD A POWER STEERING PROBLEM STARTING AROUND 15K MILES. THE POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT WITH NO WARNINGS. WHEN I HAVE NOTICED THIS, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY IF YOU PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO SPEED UP, BUT IF YOU DO NOT THE POWER STEERING GOES COMPLETELY OUT. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHILE I WOULD BE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND THE STEERING WOULD GO OUT. YOU DO STILL HAVE CONTROL OF THE STEERING BUT IT IS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WITH THE SAME STYLE TRUCK AND THEY ALL HAVE EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM AS WELL. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN A HUGE ISSUE. MY DEALER, WHICH IS VERY GOOD, HAS NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION ABOUT THIS BEING AN ISSUES FROM THE MANUFACTURING, EVEN AFTER THEY HAVE RECEIVE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS THEMSELVES ON THIS ISSUE. *NM

IT WAS A SNOWY DAY AND I HAD MY FRONT WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON. WHEN THE SNOW STOPPED I TRIED TO TURN THEM OFF BUT THEY WOULD NOT STOP. I WAS ON A BUSINESS TRIP AND ENDED UP HAVING TO PULL THE FUSE TO STOP THEM. I WAS FORCED TO ONLY DRIVE THE CAR WHEN WIPERS WERE NOT NECESSARY OR HAVE THEM ON ALL THE TIME. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW WIPER MOTOR AND MODULE. I LOOKED UP FOR RECALLS AND FOUND ONE THAT SEEMED TO COVER MY SITUATION BUT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER AND GM CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT MY PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. OBVIOUSLY I HAVE TO GO AHEAD WITH THE REPAIR REGARDLESS. DEALER HAS ORDERED THE PART AND IT SHOULD BE READY IN 2 DAYS. *NM

GAS EMPTY STOPPED TO FILL UP. WHILE DRIVING NOTICED FUEL GAUGE PAST FULL MARK, APPEARED TO BE POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN. NOTICED TACHOMETER REGISTERED 6500 RPMS. CALLED BEATY CHEVROLET. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLOSED. NEXT DAY FUEL GAUGE APPEARS CORRECT. AFTER A WEEK REFUELED AND NOTICED FUEL GAUGE WAS INCORRECT AGAIN. NOTICED STRONG GAS ODOR WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED & VEHICLE SMOKING. CALLED TO SCHEDULE REPAIRS ON 2/28/06. WAS UNABLE TO MAKE APPOINTMENT RESCHEDULED FOR TUES 3/9/06. BEATY INFORMED THAT IT MUST BE GUAGE SENSOR AND NOT RELATED TO PREVIOUS REPAIR WORK SO ANOTHER $200. DEDUCTIBLE WOULD BE DUE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT FUEL ODOR NOR SMOKING. I DISAGREED WITH THE $200 CHARGE DUE TO VEHICLE BEING DEFECTIVE WHEN I PICKED IT UP FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON THE FIRST VISIT. BEATY CHEV. SAID THEY DID NOT LOOK AT THE TACHOMETER NOR FUEL GAUGE WHEN THEY SERVICE VEHICLES SO THEY WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM. LOL .. I CALLED GM WARRANTY AND THEY WOULD NOT WAIVE THE $200 AND SAID THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND THEY THOUGHT GM WOULD WAIVED BECAUSE OF THE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE GUAGE SENSORS. HOWEVER THEY WOULD NOT ADMIT THAT THEY DID NOT CHECK THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS BEING REPAIRED THE FIRST VISIT. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING REDUCED POWER THROTTLE ASSEMBLY, GUAGE MALFUNCTIONS, AND GRINDING NOISE WHEN BRAKING AND FEEL THAT GM SHOULD RECALL AND REIMBURSE THE CONSUMER FOR THE REPAIRS THEY HAVE PAID. 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON ABOUT A MONTH AGO. SERVICE AT DEALERSHIP SAID WE NEEDED A NEW GAS CAP. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. LIGHT WENT BACK ON, TOOK IT BACK THIS PAST SATURDAY. WAS TOLD GOOSENECK TO GAS TANK IS CRACKED, RESULTING IN A FUEL LEAK (I HAVE AN INFANT). WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE TRAILBLAZERS OFTEN COME IN FOR THAT PROBLEM, THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS OVER $700.00 TO REPLACE THE TANK. WE HAVE A NEW BABY AND ARE DOWN TO ONLY ONE HOUSEHOLD INCOME. I CALLED CHEVROLET THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM BUT THAT MY VIN IS NOT ON THEIR LIST SI I MUST HAVE "RUN SOMETHING OVER" THAT CRACKED THE GOOSENECK. I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT CARS BUT I KNOW SOMETHING BEING RUN OVER WOULD NOT MAKE IT TO THE GOOSENECK. CHEVY ADMITTED THIS DEFECT TO ME- JUST BECAUSE MY VIN DID NOT MAKE THEIR LIST (ALLEGEDLY) DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT SHOULD NOT BE ON IT. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH THE VEHICLE SWERVED TO THE RIGHT AND THEN OVER CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A DITCH, THEN FLIPPED SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE AND INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED FIRST TO A WRECKER SERVICE THEN IT WAS TAKEN TO AN INSURANCE COMPANY. NO INSPECTION AS TO WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE REAR LEFT PASSENGER WINDOW BEGAN TO GRIND WHEN LETTING IT UP AND DOWN THEN IT QUIT WORKING. THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER BEGAN TO DO THE SAME THING SOON AFTER. THE WINDOWS CURRENTLY HAVE A SUCTION CUP HOLDING THEM UP. *JB

DROVE CAR TO A FRIENDS. HAD TO PARK IN THE MUD. CAME OUT LATER TO FIND THAT THE 4WD WAS NOT FUNCTIONING AT ALL. NO LIGHTS NO ATTEMPT TO SWITCH INTO AWD, 4 HI, OR 4 LO. WOULD NOT LIKE TO BE OUT IN SNOW AND FIND OUT THAT 4WD DOES NOT WORK ON A REAR-WHEEL DRIVE CAR. COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AFTER ATTEMPTING TO START THE ENGINE, A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE WAS PRESENT. AFTER SMELLING THE GASOLINE, NO FURTHER ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE NEXT DAY THE CONTACT MANAGED TO START THE VEHICLE WITH THE ODOR OF GASOLINE PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO DISCOVERED THE FUEL PUMP WAS CRACKED AND LEAKING GASOLINE. THE REPAIR SHOP SUGGESTED REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP. UPDATED 01/25/06. *JB
3/4/05 2003 CHEVY TRAIL BLAZER WOULD NOT TAKE FUEL. THE FUEL WOULD SPLASH OUT OF THE FUEL NECK . THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE GAS TANK AND THE SENDER. AGAIN, ON 12/30/2005 THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE VECHICLE WOULD NOT TAKE FUEL. WHILE FILLING UP THE FUEL ON DISPENSED ONTO THE GROUND. *NM
THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH SPENDS MOST OF IT'S TIME IN DEFAULT SO YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT DRIVE YOU ARE IN. GOING OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES EVERY DAY THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE BEEN TOLD NOT TO USE THE AUTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE-SO WHY HAVE IT? IT'S BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE AND THEY SAY EVERYTHING IS WORKING RIGHT-BULL. I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNSAFE. WHICH IS NOT A METAL AND BREAKS EASILY. THERE IS NOT A CAMPAIGN ON THAT PART, YET I KNOW SEVERAL TRAIL BLAZER OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE LINKS IN THE REAR SUSPENSION CAME OUT IN IRON OR SOME TYPE OF METAL. I AM TOTALLY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS NOT LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. *JB

DEALER ONLY WANTS TO CHARGE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND SAID WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY ANY WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT STARTED PRIOR TO WARRANTY EXPIRATION. *TR

BROUGHT BACK 3RD TIME 1/3/07 NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, TRANSMISSION FRIED NEEDING REPLACEMENT. LOCAL AAMCO VERY FAMILIAR WITH TRAILBLAZER TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS CLAIMS THE SUN GEAR REACTION SHELL IS JUNK AND NOT POWERFUL ENOUGH FOR REVERSE. CHEVY CONTINUES TO USE THIS PART. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS REPORTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET. *JB

I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THERE ARE MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS AND THAT THERE IS A 2-3 WEEK DELAY IN GETTING THE PART SHIPPED. I WAS ALSO TOLD IT WOULD COST ABOUT $400 TO GET IT FIXED. MY CAR IS A 2003 AND HAS ABOUT 81,000 MILES ON IT. A SPEEDOMETER IS NOT LIKE AN ALIGNMENT, WEAR AND TEAR ITEM, OR NEGLECT OF HAVING IT SERVICED. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE OF SPEED, THE INABILITY TO GET THE PART IN A TIMELY MANNER AND THE UNWILLINGNESS OF GM TO COVER THE REPAIR. *JB
FAN CLUTCH FAILURE ON MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER CAR "ROARS" AS THE FAN DOES NOT DISENGAGE AND EXPERIENCE LOSS OF ACCELERATION. *JB
VEHICLE WHEN PLACED IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, DOES NOT ENGAGE FRONT WHEELS AND IN FACT DOES REMAIN IN ONLY TWO-WHEEL DRIVE. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE ON SNOWY ROADS PARTICULARLY IN RURAL AREAS, FOR EXAMPLE, THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *JB
2003 CHEVROLET TRAIL BLAZER MAKES A ROARING SOUND WHILE DRIVING. *TS THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN RODE WITH THE CONSUMER IN THE VEHICLE AND HEARD THE NOISE AS WELL. THE TECHNICIAN CHECKED EVERYTHING BUT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.
IN NOVEMBER OF 2005 I WAS DRIVING ALONG WHEN FOR NO REASON I FELT A BURNING ON THE INSIDE OF MY LEFT THIGH. IT GOT SO HOT IT I ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. I HAD TO PULL OVER TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS MY HEATED SEAT THAT HAD JUST BURNED OUT AND DOES NT WORK ANYMORE. AT THAT POINT I JUST FIGURED IT WAS JUST ANOTHER THING THAT BROKE, BUT ON 2/2/06 A PERSON I WORK WITH JUST TOLD ME SHE HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF HER VEHICLE. SHE HAS A 2004 BUICK RAINIER WHICH IS ALMOST THE SAME AS MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. AT THIS POINT I FELT THIS WAS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE LOOK INTO AND THAT'S WHY I AM ASKING FOR YOUR HELP IN THIS MATTER. *NM
THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING HOME AFTER DROPPING MY SON OFF AT WORK ON I-95. I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 65 AND 70 MPH AND PASSING A SEMI WHEN MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND WITH NO PRIOR WARNING SHIFTED INTO SECOND GEAR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF MY CAR AND ABLE TO DRIVE IT THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. ON MONDAY I DROVE MY VEHICLE AS INSTRUCTED TO THE MJ SULLIVANS, THE DEALERSHIP IN WHICH I BOUGHT THE TRAILBLAZER, FOR SERVICE. I WAS THEN NOTIFIED THAT THE STATOR SUPPORT BUSHINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND THAT IT WOULD ACTUALLY BE CHEAPER TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION. INTERESTINGLY, THE NEW TRANSMISSION COMES WITH A 10YR/100K MILE WARRANTY AND MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 69000 MILES OF HIGHWAY MILES. ASKED THE SERVICE ENGINEER ABOUT HOW UNUSUAL THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IS AND THEY TOLD ME HIGHLY CONSIDERING THE WEAR ON OTHER PARTS IN THE TRANSMISSION. WE DO NOT TOW OR HAVE HILLS IN OUR AREA AND FOR THE MOST PART ONLY TRAVEL ON THE HIGHWAY SO I WOULD NOT SUSPECT THAT WE WOULD BE PUTTING A HIGH LEVEL OF WEAR AND TEAR ON IT. WE HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. *JB
