MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE COMPLETE THIRD TAILLIGHT COVER BLEW OFF. IT APPEARS THAT THE ADHESIVE THAT ATTACHES THE REAR SPOILER TO THE GLASS OF LIFT GATE HAS LOOSENED DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

WHILE TRAVELING WESTBOUND ON 192 IN OSCEOLA COUNTY BETWEEN NARCOOSSEE ROAD AND NOVA ROAD THERE WERE SEVERAL BARRICADES 4 TO 5 INCHES IN THE TRAFFIC LANE. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE WITH THE BARRICADES OVER THE YELLOW LINE ON THE LEFT-HAND SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS TOOK PLACE AT APPROXIMATELY 8:15 AM WHILE TAKING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOO, DURING THE MORNING TIME TRAFFIC. MY VEHICLE STRUCK A LARGE ROUND ORANGE BARRICADE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I ATTEMPTED TO MANEUVER AND AVOIDANCE HOWEVER I WAS TRAVELING NEXT TO A SEMI AND WAS UNABLE TO DO SO. AS A RESULT MY VEHICLE NOW HAS A SCRATCH ON THE LEFT SIDE. I THEN CALLED DOT TO REPORT THE DAMAGES AND TO HAVE THE SITE INVESTIGATED FOR FUTURE INCIDENCES. THE COMPANY CONDUCTING THE CONSTRUCTION WORK IS JR DAVIS CONSTRUCTION. THERE IS NOT A PULL OFF ZONE OR A PLACE I FELT SAFE STOPPING TO DIRECTLY SPEAK WITH AN INDIVIDUAL IN CHARGE. I TRAVEL THIS ROAD SEVERAL TIMES A DAY AND HAVE NEVER SEEN THE BARREL BARRICADES IN THE ROAD AS THEY WERE THIS MORNING.

WHEN ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ARRIVED, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE FROM THE VEHICLE FRAME DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CUT THE TIRE AWAY FROM THE FRAME. THE OWNER PURCHASED A NEW TIRE TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE CABLE FROM THE FRAME. I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER EXT. THE GLASS PORTION OF THE TAILGATE BECAME UNGLUED FROM THE HINGE. THIS DID NOT ALLOW THE GLASS PORTION TO LATCH PROPERLY. THE DEALERSHIP/BODY SHOP SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THAT HAPPEN. IN ALL THE OPENING TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM, THE SUPPORT BAR FOR THE GLASS FAILED AND THE ENTIRE LIFTGATE COVER WAS LOOSE. MY THOUGHTS ARE THE COVER WAS THE START OF THE HINGE COMING UNGLUED AS THE BODY SHOP SAID THAT THEY HAVE HAD CASES WHERE THE COVER COMES FLYING OFF. THIS WOULD PLACE STRESS ON THE HINGE/GLUE AND CAUSE A FAILURE. THE BODY SHOP SAID THEY COULD NOT REPAIR. IT WOULD CAST $1000+ FOR A NEW GLASS AND $650+ FOR A USED GLASS. I TOOK IT TO A PRIVATE BODY SHOP AND THEY REGLUED THE GLASS AND HINGE BUT WERE UNABLE TO SECURE THE LIFTGATE COVER WITHOUT SCREWING IT IN PLACE. THE FIX LASTED FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO LIFT THE TAILGATE (ENTIRE TAILGATE, NOT GLASS), IT BOUND UP ON THE TOP AND ONLY ONES 1/2 WAY. FINALLY, THE TAILGATE LATCH MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT LATCH WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE THE TAILGATE. UPON REPAIR, THE LATCH MECHANISM HAD DISINTEGRATED AND THE RUBBER COATING WAS ALL TORN APART, CAUSING THE LATCH MECHANISM TO JAM. *TR
THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN A CAR WASH AND HEARD A LOUD BANGING NOISE. I LOOKED BACK AND COULD SEE THE UPPER TAILGATE MOLDING FLOPPING IN THE WIND OF THE CAR WASH DRYER BEING HELD ON BY ONLY THE BRAKE WIRES. AT THAT TIME IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. 2ND REPLACEMENT ABOUT 3 YEARS LATER SAME THING. NOW RECENTLY I NOTICED AGAIN THAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SCREW ATTACHMENT ON THE MOLDING HAS BROKEN AWAY AGAIN AND IT'S MY RESPONSIBILITY TO SHELL OUT THE $500+ TO HAVE IT REPLACED AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A GM DEALER IT IS PROBABLY CAUSED BY OUR WISCONSIN WINTERS WITH ACCUMULATION OF ICE & SNOW BUILD UP GETTING UNDER THE MOLDING AND ALSO WINDS USED TO DRYING VEHICLES IN CAR WASHES. CHEAP PLASTIC FOR THE MOUNTING SCREW TO GO THROUGH TO ATTACH IT TO THE VEHICLE. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN FEB 2008. I OPENED THE HATCH FOR THE FIRST TIME AND WHEN I LIFTED THE HATCH, I BEGAN TO HEAR A LOT OF BREAKING AND BOLTS FLYING. I GOT IT TO CLOSE SECURELY AND DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. THEN ONE DAY, I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK AND THE BACK HATCH BEGAN TO SHAKE. I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. AFTER DRIVING FOR ANOTHER FEW MINUTES THE HATCH BEGAN TO FALL BACKWARD. I NEVER REACH THE GROUND, IT WAS HELD ON BY THE LIGHTS THAT CONNECT THE TOP LIGHT. I WENT TO A DEALER THAT REPAIRED IT SUPPOSEDLY. A FEW DAYS LATER IT DONE THE SAME THING. I ATTEMPTED TO GET IT REPAIR A SECOND TIME. IT WASN'T SUCCESSFUL EITHER. THIS TIME I COULDN'T GET IT CLOSED. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A PROBLEM AMONGST A FEW TRAILBLAZER BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE AS OF YET. THE ONLY SOLUTION THAT I WAS TOLD THAT MAY HELP THE PROBLEM IS PAYING $1,100 TO BUY ANOTHER. ACCORDING TO A LOCAL DEALER THE WINDOW DOESN'T BELONG IN THE VEHICLE. THE WHOLE SET UP IS NOT THE WAY IT SHOULD BE SET UP. MY VEHICLE HAS A BRACKET HOLDING THE WINDOW UP BUT THERE ISN'T A BRACKET ON ANY WEBSITE. *TR
WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR HATCH WINDOW SELF EXPLODED. IT WAS WITNESSED BY MANY GENERAL MOTORS EMPLOYEES. CHECKING ON THE WEB, I FOUND THAT THIS IS MORE COMMON THAN EXPECTED. HAPPENS MOSTLY IN CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS AND FORD ESCAPES. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO RE-BOND THE ADHESIVE. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT THE WINDOW AND THE HINGE SHOULD BE REPLACED AS A UNIT. AS OF SEPTEMBER 13, 2007, THE DEALER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 65,400.

THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SERVICED. PRIOR TO THE RECENT FAILURE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 3 PRIOR OCCASIONS WHERE THE SPOILER WAS REPLACED EACH TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. ON JUNE 20, 2007, WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE FLEW OPEN AND SMASHED THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT COULD NOT SEE, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. HE DROVE APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH TO A MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE MECHANIC COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND SERVICE HAS BEEN DENIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 31,662.
THE UPPER MOLDING OF MY 2004 TRAILBLAZER BLEW OFF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. A PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE SAME PART HAD BEEN FIXED AT NO CHARGE MORE THAN A YEAR AGO. THIS TIME, THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE ON WHAT IT WOULD COST TO REPAIR IT ($505.20), BUT SAID THIS PROBLEM WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. THE BODY SHOP MANAGER IN 2004 SAID HE HAD SEEN SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP TODAY DENIED THAT PATTERN AND SAID FIXING THE PROBLEM WAS UP TO ME. TO COMPOUND THE PROBLEM FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, IT TOOK THE DEALERSHIP 36 HOURS TO COME TO A DECISION ON WHETHER OR NOT THE COST OF REPAIR SHOULD BE BORNE BY ME OR NOT. *NM
DT: THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO HEAR WIND NOISE EVEN WITH THE WINDOWS UP. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE RUBBER SEALS WERE LOOSE. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER IT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR. SHOWED THE MANUFACTURER THE PROBLEM OF THE SEALS COMING LOOSE AND THEY SAID IT WAS AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM. *AK

DT: THE VEHICLE IS A 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS. WHILE SHUTTING THE DOOR OR TOUCHING THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMER WOULD BE SHOCK SO BADLY THAT SHE SEES COLORS. SHE TRIED TOUCHING THE PLASTIC HANDLE TO THE DOOR BUT IF HER FINGER COMES WITHIN AN INCH OF THE METAL IT WOULD STILL SHOCK HER, EVEN THROUGH CLOTHES. DEALERSHIP WAS GOING TO FIX THE PROBLEM SOMETIME THIS WEEK. THEY HAVE TRIED PRODUCTS FOR HUMIDITY AND USED STATIC GUARD BUT NONE OF THIS STUFF SOLVED THE PROBLEM. MECHANIC SAID THEY HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH PEOPLE GETTING SHOCKED. AFTER THE VEHICLE STARTED SHOCKING HER THE COMPUTER CHIP WAS REPLACED, AND SINCE THEY REPLACED COMPUTER IT SHOCKED EVEN HARDER. *AK *NM
