Fuel gauge intermittently reports empty when vehicle was just fully filled with fuel
MY 15 YR OLD DRIVER IN TRAINING,, was leaving town with myself and her father the engine just stopped running causing us to lose all movement of car had to coast to the side of highway { busy with semis} had to call tow truck to come get it ,, it wouldn't start after trying a few times . and also the seat belts lock tight and will not give when pulled on them leaving you strapped tight in the seat you have to unhook them to release them .. very uncomfortable when you traveling
FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY CONSTANTLY, EVEN WHERE THERE IS HALF A TANK. ONLY 5-10% OF THE TIME IT SHOWS HOW MUCH FUEL THERE REALLY IS. THIS HAPPENS WHILE TRAVELING AND WHILE STOPPED.
THE GAS GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY EVEN AFTER THE TANK IS FILLED. OTHER 2005 TRAILBLAZER MODELS HAVE HAD A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE REGARDING THE GAS GAUGE AND SENSOR BUT MY MODEL DID NOT. IT ALSO CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AFTER PUTTING FUEL IN THE GAS TANK. THE GAS GAUGE SHOWS EMPTY AT ALL TIMES ( WHEN YOUR MOVING, AND STATIONARY). NOT ACCURATELY KNOWING HOW MUCH GAS IS THE VEHICLE CAN CAUSE YOU TO STALL OUT WHILE ON CITY STREETS OR ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 60 MPH.
I BOUGHT 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER AND THE FUEL GAUGE IS DEFECTIVE. IT IS CRAZY TO HEAR BEEP SOUNDING ALL THE TIME TELLING ME THE GAUGE IS EMPTY WHEN I KNOW FOR SURE IS NOT. I WISH IT COULD BE FIXED, BECAUSE I HAVE MANY OTHERS THINGS IN MY PLATE THAT NEED TO WORRY, I REALLY DON'T NEED ANOTHER ONE.
THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. THE TANK IS FILLED FULL BUT IT WILL ALWAYS READ EMPTY. I ALREADY HAVE A REFURBISHED CLUSTER SO IT WILL NOT BE THE CLUSTER'S FAULT. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR TO BE FIXED TO AVOID ACCIDENTS ON THE ROAD.

AFTER A FEW MILES THE GAUGE GOES TO 1/4 OF A TANK INDICATING THERE IS GAS, BUT NOT INDICATIVE OF ACTUALLY WHAT IS IN THE TANK. I HAVE TRIED TO RESET MY TRIPOMETER EVERY TIME I FUEL UP, AND THEN STOP AT THE GAS STATION AND REFUEL EVERY 240 MILES. HOWEVER THIS PAST WEEKEND I RAN OUT OF FUEL AND THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. I KNOW NOW THAT THIS IS ALSO UNRELIABLE AND WILL MAKE IT A POINT TO STOP AT EVERY 200 MILES.
MY 2005 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER EXT IS LEAKING GAS FROM THE GAS TANK UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE WHEN THE SUV IS RUNNING.
FUEL GAUGE WAS ON 1/2 TANK. I WENT TO THE GAS STATION TO FILL IT UP AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE GAUGE METER WENT TO THE LEFT AND READ "EMPTY" AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON EVEN THOUGH I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS. I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND THE FUEL GAUGE METER STILL READ LOW (LESS THAN A 1/4 TANK), IT EVENTUALLY RETURNED THE TO THE 1/2 GAUGE/METER MARK. CAR WAS STATIONERY AT THE GAS STATION AT TIME OF THE INCIDENT, THEN I EVENTUALLY DROVE OFF AT LOW SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED INACCURATE FUEL AMOUNTS. AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK WITH FUEL, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THE TANK WAS EMPTY. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
I WENT TO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED UP MY TANK. I STARTED MY CAR AND THE GAUGE WAS NOT AT THE FILL LINE. THE GAUGE JUST BOUNCED UP AND DOWN AND THEN WENT BELOW THE EMPTY MARK MAKING THE CHIME GO OFF AND THE CAR RED "FUEL IS LOW". THIS WAS ON A SECONDARY CITY STREET.
FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I CHECKED WITH DEALER AND THE NHTSA WEBSITE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE PROBLEM IS THAT GM WILL NOT HONOR THE SERVICE BULLETIN. ACCORDING TO GM I WAS MAILED OUT A SERVICE NOTICE ON MY VEHICLE IN 2011 WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. # 10041526 . I CHECKED WITH THE GMC DEALER ABOUT THIS SERVICE BULLETIN AND THE THEY TOLD ME TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS. WELL THE DEALER CALLED AND TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF THE PARAMETERS FOR A COST FREE REPAIR. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW BACK AND 2005 AND I HAVE KEPT UP WITH THE REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE. THE DEALERSHIP I HAVE THIS SERVICED AT OVER THE YEARS NEVER DID ANY REPAIRS ON THIS SERVICE BULLETIN. I AM A OIF ARMY VETERAN AND I CAN NOT CURRENTLY AFFORD THIS $900 REPAIR. I TOLD CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CHEVY ABOUT THIS AND ALL THEY OFFERED WAS A CHEVY LOYALTY CAR. REALLY YOUR KIDDING ME?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 360. THE CONTACT SMELLED A STRONG FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO WITNESSED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V59000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 223,852.

FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN READY EMPTY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. I LOOKED ON INTERNET TO SEE HOW TO FIX OR POSSIBLE PROBLEMS. I NOTICED THERE WAS A LETTER SENT YEARS AGO TO THE AFFECT THAT GM WOULD COVER HALF THE COST TO REPAIR, UP TO 10 YEARS IN SERVICE OR 100,000 MILES. WHEN I CONTACTED DEALER THE CAR WAS IN SERVICE 10 YEARS AND 2 WEEKS AND HAS 84,000 MILES. I WAS INFORMED GM WILL NOT HELP COVER EXPENSE FOR REPAIR DO TO TIME IN SERVICE. I AM QUESTIONING IF THIS COULD BECOME A RECALL OR EXTENDED IN SERVICE DATING FOR THIS PROBLEM.
