I OWN A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND MY FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL, ALSO, IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR THE COMPONENTS MELTED. *TR
INERTIA REEL ON SEATBELT FAILED. NO AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. 2006 TRAILBLAZER, FULL STRAIGHT HEAD ON CRASH. *TR
THE FUEL GAUGE WORKED GREAT AND EVENTUALLY STARTED TO READ EMPTY WHEN THERE WAS PLENTY OF FUEL IN THE TANK. SOMETIMES IT STARTS AT FULL AND SLOWLY GOES TO EMPTY. OTHER TIMES, IT GOES STRAIGHT TO EMPTY WITHOUT MISSING A BEAT. NOW IT OCCURS ALL THE TIME. HAVE YET TO REPAIR IT BECAUSE I SEE THAT SUPPOSEDLY A RECALL IS IN THE WORKS AND THERE SHOULD BE!! WITH AS MANY PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE PROBLEM INCLUDING ACCIDENTS AND OTHER EXTREME INCONVENIENCES, GM SHOULD DEFINITELY DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. *TR
IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, THE FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY BECAME ERRATIC. WHEN FUEL WAS NEAR EMPTY, IT WOULD READ "FULL" OR "HALF FULL". THE ENGINE REPAIR LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF INCONSISTENTLY DURING THE SAME TIME. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE THE QUALITY OF GASOLINE, BUT TRYING DIFFERENT BRANDS DID NOT HELP. WITHIN A FEW MONTHS, NO MATTER HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN MY TANK, THE GAUGE WOULD READ "E" FOR EMPTY, WITH THE NEEDLE NEVER MOVING FROM "E". IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I HAVE TO RESET MY TRIPOMETER WHEN FILLING UP ON A NEW TANK OF GAS, SO I KNOW ABOUT 250 MILES, I NEED TO FILL UP AGAIN. IF I DON'T DO THIS, I COULD RUN OUT OF GAS, CAUSE A CRASH, OR A FATAL ACCIDENT SINCE MY GAUGE ALWAYS READS EMPTY. I HAVE READ MANY BLOG AND COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL GAUGE ON THE 2006 TRAILBLAZER. I UNDERSTAND THE REPAIR AND PARTS WILL BE ABOUT $800.00. IN AUGUST 2011, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM INDICATING THAT THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH MY FUEL SENSOR AND THAT THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO PAY HALF THE COST FOR REPAIR, BUT I BELIEVE THAT GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE FAULTY SENSOR AT "NO CHARGE" TO THE OWNER. *TR
FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. GOES UP AND DOWN. NEVER SURE HOW MUCH GAS IN THE VEHICLE. COULD RESULT IN RUNNING OUT OF GAS LEADING TO BEING REARENDED OR STUCK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. GAUGE GETS STUCK ON EMPTY AT TIMES AND FUEL LIGHT COMES ON. *TR
OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS, THE FUEL GAUGE ON MAKES FALSE READINGS ON A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER SS 6.0L. UPON FILLING UP TO A FULL TANK THE GAGE WILL SAY 'FULL' HOWEVER WHILE RIDING OVER BUMPS OR ACCELERATING/DECELERATING THE GAUGE WILL BOUNCE TO EMPTY AND FULL REGARDLESS OF THE ACTUAL FUEL LEVEL. THIS HAS OCCURRED FOR THE PAST 20,000 MILES CONTINUOUSLY AFTER FILL UP UNTIL APPROXIMATELY HALF THE TANK IS EMPTIED. ONCE THE GAUGE STOPS BOUNCING BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY THE READING IS NO LONGER ACCURATE. IN ONCE CASE I RAN OUT OF FUEL WHILE ON A HIGHWAY WHILE THE GAUGE READ 1/4 TANK MOMENTS PRIOR TO RUNNING OUT OF GAS AND STALLING OUT. I WAS TOLD THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT OCCURRING IN THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AND IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND WOULD REQUIRE REPLACING THE ENTIRE SENDING UNIT TO FIX THE ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AT NIGHT, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE AND THE HIGH BEAMS WERE ACTIVATED. THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE BOTH HEADLIGHTS AND MODULES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
POWER WINDOW SWITCH MELTED AND SCORCHED DOOR DRIVER SIDE. *TR
AS WITH THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER TRAILBLAZER, ENVOY AND 9-7X OWNERS MY FUEL LEVEL SENSOR QUIT WORKING. IT SHOWS EMPTY ALL THE TIME AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON. I AM A DISABLED AMERICAN WITH VERY LITTLE INCOME FROM DISABILITY AND CAN NOT AFFORD THE $600+ A GARAGE CHARGES TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2005-2008 GM SUV'S AND CERTAINLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL BY NOW AS THIS PROBLEMS HAS AFFECTED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF TRAILBLAZER OWNERS. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM AS THE GAUGE WILL FAIL WITH NO WARNING AND CAN CREATE SERIOUS HAZARDS WHEN A VEHICLE WILL RUN OUT OF GAS.*TR
IN AUGUST, 2009, I FILLED MY GAS TANK IN MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND WHEN I GOT INTO THE CAR, THE GAS GAUGE READ EMPTY. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, THE FUEL GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD TURN ON. I FOUND SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, AND BEGAN USING THE TRIPOMETER TO MEASURE THE MILEAGE, REFUELING AT APPROXIMATELY 250-300 MILES. UNFORTUNATELY, IN AUGUST, 2010, WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR FREEWAY, THE CAR RAN OUT OF GAS AND I BARELY AVOIDED BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND WAS HELPED BY A FRIEND WHO HAPPENED TO SPOT ME IN TROUBLE. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2011: IT APPEARS THAT NOW MY FUEL PUMP HAS GONE BAD AND I AM UNABLE TO MOVE FUEL TO THE ENGINE. THE CAR TURNS OVER BUT THERE ISN'T FUEL MOVING THROUGH THE LINES TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING. THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL SENSOR ONLINE ABOUT THE GM MODELS FROM 2004-2007. (513 AS OF TODAY) GM NEEDS TO PROVIDE A RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS ISSUE, INSTEAD OF CHARGING IT'S CUSTOMERS $800.00+ TO DROP THE GAS TANK AND REPLACE PARTS THAT THEY ARE WELL AWARE ARE DEFECTIVE. *TR
HAPPENS EVERYDAY. THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK ON MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. NOT FIXED. DEALERSHIP WANTS SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX IT EVEN AFTER IT HAS LEFT ME OUT OF FUEL TWICE. ONCE ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE SNOW. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A READING OF A QUARTER OF A TANK OF FUEL. THE FUEL GAUGE HAD SINCE CONTINUOUSLY DISPLAYED AN IMPROPER READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THAT FUEL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 61,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL GAUGE,FUEL PUMP ON MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER AFTER IT QUIT WORKING. I ALSO HAVE A 2006 TRAILBLAZER AND MY WIFE RAN OUT OF GAS, WHEN WE FILLED IT UP, THE GAS GAUGE DID THE SAME THING AS THE 2005, SO WE HAVE TO USE THE ODOMETER TO KNOW WHEN TO FILL UP. WHEN I CALLED MY MECHANIC, HE EXPLAINED THE SITUATION WAS THE SAME AS MY 2005. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR. *TR
MY GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN FLUCTUATING. SOMETIMES THE GAUGE WOULD SHOW EMPTY WHEN THERE WAS GAS. OTHER TIMES IT WOULD SHOW THERE WAS FUEL IN THE TANK AND THERE WASNT. I CALLED MY CHEVY DEALER AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAPPENED. THEY SAID THAT THEY HAD HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WOULD HAVE TO BE DROPPED. I WAS TOLD TO USE MY TRIP ODOMETER TO KEEP TRACK HOW MANY MILES WAS DRIVEN ON A TANK SO THAT I WOULDNT RUN OUT OF GAS. I WORK FOR GM AND I CONTACTED OUR LOCAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REP. I WAS TOLD TO HAVE THE REPAIR MADE, PAY FOR IT AND MAYBE SOMETHING COULD BE WORKED OUT. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HEARD THE USNHTSA WAS INVESTIGATING THIS SAME ISSUE. I WANTED SOMEONE TO KNOW THERE ARE MORE OF OUT HERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
THE FUEL SENDING UNIT HAS QUIT WORKING. CAN NOT TELL HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE GAS TANK BY THE GAS GAUGE. WHEN GAS RUNS OUT, VEHICLE STOPS WITH NO WARNING CAUSING A POSSIBLE ACCIDENT ESPECIALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR AT A STOP LIGHT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN THE DOOR STARTED TO SMOKE. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND POURED A BOTTLE OF WATER IN THE DOOR TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THE DOOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN, BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,390. UPDATED 03/06/12 *BF
INITIALLY THE FUEL GAUGE BEGAN FLUCTUATING AND WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. THEN, IT STOPPED WORKING ALL TOGETHER. IT ALWAYS SAYS THE VEHICLE IS ON EMPTY WITH THE GAS LIGHT AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYING ON 90% OF THE TIME. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING BECAUSE IF THERE WERE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE, I WOULD HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHETHER THE LIGHT IS ON DUE TO THE FUEL SENSOR OR BECAUSE OF ANOTHER MORE SERIOUS ISSUE. I ALSO MUST RELY ON THE "TRIP METER" TO DETERMINE MY FUEL LEVEL. I HAVE FOUND THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND WOULD HOPE CHEVY WOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
MY TRAILBLAZER HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM AS SOME OTHER ONES THAT I HAVE READ ON HERE. MY GAS GAUGE QUIT COMPLETELY, AT FIRST IT WOULD READ FULL THEN GO DOWN AND NOW IT STAYS ON EMPTY WITH THE LIGHT ON. IF THERE ARE SO MANY TRAILBLAZERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL AND WHY ISN'T CHEVROLET FIXING THIS INSTEAD OF PUTTING IT ON THE CONSUMER TO DO IT. I HAVE RAN OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO PULL OVER AND WAS LUCKY THAT I COULD MANEUVER IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHAT ARE THEY WAITING ON FOR SOME PEOPLE TO GET KILLED BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? WHEN IT DIES NOTHING WORKS AND YOU ARE STUCK WHERE IT DIES. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WHICH NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY CHEVROLET AND THEY NEED TO FIX THE PROBLEM, THEY SHOULDN'T BE PUTTING FAULTY THINGS ON VEHICLES AND NOT OWN UP TO IT. THEY NEED TO OWN UP TO THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT. ALSO I CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A MECHANIC THAT THE FUEL PUMP SHOULD BE REPLACED NOT JUST THE SENSOR. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE REAR SPOILER BRAKE LIGHT SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE AND FLEW INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
I NOTICED AN ARTICLE ON FOX NEWS ABOUT AN INVESTIGATION REGARDING DOOR FIRES. I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THAT ISSUE HAPPENING TO ME ABOUT A YEAR AGO. THE PROBLEM STARTED INTERMITTENTLY WHERE THE WINDOW/DOOR SWITCHES WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER DEALING WITH THAT PROBLEM FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS I GOT IN MY TRUCK ONE MORNING AND COULD TELL IT SMELLED LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. FROM THAT POINT NONE OF THE WINDOWS OR DOOR LOCKS WORKED AND I COULD SEE SOME BROWN DISCOLORATION THAT HAD COME UP BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE PANEL FOR THE DOOR SWITCHES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I PULLED THE SWITCH PANEL UP AND THERE WAS A HOLE ON THE SIDE OF THE SWITCH PANEL AND PART OF THE PLUG WAS MELTED WHERE THE VERY SMALL FIRE HAD OCCURRED. I ORDERED A NEW SWITCH PANEL FROM A DEALER AND HAD THE DEALER FLASH IT SO IT WOULD WORK IN MY TRUCK AND SO FAR SO GOOD. I MAY HAVE THE OLD SWITCH PANEL IN MY GARAGE IF NEEDED FOR ANYTHING. *TR

NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER REPLACED THE BUTTONS ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AND FLUCTUATES BETWEEN BEING EMPTY OR BEING FULL. MUST USE TRIP ODOMETER TO MONITOR MILES IN ORDER NOT TO RUN OUT OF GAS. ORIGINALLY WHEN PROBLEM STARTED, FUEL GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY AFTER FILLING UP TANK AND THEN AFTER APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MILES OF DRIVING GAUGE WOULD READ AS BEING FULL. NOW GAUGE JUST CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY OR FULL.
THE GAS GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY WHEN IT IS FULL THAN EVENTUALLY IT WILL RETURN TO FULL AFTER DRIVING IT SOMETIME FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING THIS HAPPENED TO ALOT OF CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS AND I DON'T THINK WE SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT. THEY ARE SAYING THE REPAIR CAN RUN ANYWHERE FROM 400 TO 900 DOLLARS..WHICH THIS IS NOT FAIR. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER 4WD. MY GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN BOUNCING AROUND FROM EMPTY TO FULL AND BACK DOWN. RECENTLY MY CAR STALLED OUT ON THE HIGHWAY! I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER MY CAR INTO A SAFE LOCATION. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE!! I WAS TOLD THAT BY THE GENTLEMEN AT MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP THAT THIS IS "A COMMON PROBLEM" WITH THIS CAR AND THAT MY FUEL SENSOR ISN'T READING. THE FUEL TANK NEEDS TO BE DROPPED AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TO FORK OUT THE $900 TO MAKE THIS REPAIR. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF THIS IS SUCH A KNOWN ISSUE AND A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE THAT YOU THE NHTSA WOULD HELP TO INSURE THE PUBLICS SAFETY BY MANDATING A RECALL FOR THIS PART. I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT REGARDING GM'S FAULTY FUEL SENSORS. THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER STOPPED REGISTERING. THE ENGINE SHUT OFF A MONTH AGO BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY AND THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT INDICATE THAT. THE DRIVER DID CONTACT A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON FOR TRAILBLAZERS AND THE IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $600-$1200. TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS APPROX. 76,000. *TR

WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A TOWN ROAD AT 40 MPH, MY TRAILBLAZER STALLED IN TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE GAS GAUGE WAS ON 1/4 OF A TANK. WE PUSHED THE TRAILBLAZER INTO A PARKING LOT. WE DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS NO GAS IN THE TANK. AFTER PUTTING IN 3 GALLONS OF GAS IT STARTED. SINCE THEN EVERYTIME WE FILL UP THE TANK, IT READS EMPTY AND THE LIGHT ON THE DASH IS LIT WITH THE ENGINE SYMBLE. AFTER ABOUT 5 GALLONS ARE USED, IT WILL WORK WITH NO LIGHT ERATICALLY. WE NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK WITH THE GAUGE. WE HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS TWICE SINCE THEN WITH AUTOS HITTING THEIR BRAKES SUDDENLY(NOT VERY HAPPY).

THE 2006 TRAILBLAZER HAD ISSUES WITH THE 2-WHEEL DRIVE/4-WHEEL DRIVE ACTUATOR AND SENSOR. I HAD THE SENSOR REPLACE UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE ACTUATOR HANDLE WAS IN A DIFFERENT RANGE THAN WHAT THE KNOB INDICATED. AFTER REPLACEMENT, THE TRUCK INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD OCCASIONALLY CHANGE WHILE DRIVING. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS INDICATING THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER TRAIN SYSTEM. THE TRANSFER CASE EVENTUALLY BURNED UP DUE TO CONTINUOUS SWITCHING BETWEEN HIGH AND LOW HEARS WHILE DRIVING. THE TRUCK LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MILES AN HOUR IN MOUNTAINOUS AND SNOWY CONDITIONS. THE TRANSFER CASE, AND SENSOR AND ACTUATOR WERE ALL PAID MY THE CAR OWNER. *TR

THE GAS GAUGE FIRST STARTED BY READING THE WRONG AMOUNT OF FUEL, THEN ONLY AFTER RUNNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES WOULD IT READ THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL.
