ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AFTER FILLING THE GAS TANK ON MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER THE GAUGE BEGAN TO DROP TO EMPTY AND "DANCE" AT A NEARLY EMPTY LEVEL FOR A FEW MINUTES. THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO CORRECT ITSELF, THEN A FEW WEEKS AND A COUPLE OF "DANCES" LATER THE GAUGE READ EMPTY AND THE FUEL LIGHT WAS PERMANENTLY ON. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS TODAY. *TR
FUEL SENDING UNIT IS NOT ACCURATE AND IS FAILING TO REGISTER CORRECTLY. *TR
VERY HARD, SHOCKING 2-1 (MAYBE 3-2?) DOWNSHIFT AFTER LONG DRIVE AS IN 2-3 HOURS OR UNDER HEAVY LOAD. SUCH A HARD BRUTAL SHIFT CAN LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION AND IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE HIT SOMETHING SOLID LIKE ANOTHER CAR. IT IS HARD ENOUGH TO COMPLETELY JAR OCCUPANTS AND DISLODGE GLASSES OFF OF YOUR FACE. YOU IMMEDIATELY LOSE ABOUT 5 MPH. FEELS LIKE IT COULD CAUSE COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO RECREATE THIS FAILURE AND IT IS SO SCARY THAT YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO DO IT AGAIN. *JS
LIKE THOUSANDS OF OTHER OWNERS (SINCE THIS HAPPENS TO THE GMC ENVOY TOO, SO IT'S NOT JUST A CHEVY ISSUE), ONE DAY THE GAS GAUGE WORKS FINE, THE NEXT IT READS EMPTY AFTER FILLING IT UP. HOWEVER, AS A BONUS, THE FRIENDLY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOW COMES ON RANDOMLY TO LET ME KNOW THE FUEL GAUGE ISN'T WORKING. I'VE HAD THE CODES READ BY TWO DIFFERENT PLACES AND THIS IS THE ONLY ERROR RECORDED. I NOW HAVE TO USE THE TRIP METER TO "GUESS" WHEN THE TRUCK NEEDS FILLING UP. SINCE IT'S GOING TO COST ME SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS I DON'T HAVE TO FIX IT, I'LL JUST HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE INCONVENIENCE. IN MASSACHUSETTS, LIKE MANY OTHER STATES, THEY DO AN EMISSIONS TEST BY PLUGGING INTO THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER. WELL, SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AT SOME POINT, THE COMPUTER SAYS "NOT READY" AND THE VEHICLE FAILS THE TEST. YOU HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THEN DRIVE ABOUT A WEEK BEFORE THE COMPUTER RESETS ITSELF. HOWEVER, WITHOUT FAIL, THE LIGHT ALWAYS COMES BACK ON JUST BEFORE TAKING IT BACK TO GET RE-INSPECTED, THUS RESETTING THE WHOLE PROCESS. I'VE HAD THIS HAPPEN FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS IN A ROW REGARDLESS OF NUMBER OF DAYS/MILES DRIVEN. ANOTHER WEEK AND ANOTHER TANK OF GAS WASTED. SO, IN ORDER TO GET THE CAR TO PASS INSPECTION, I EITHER HAVE TO GET REAL LUCKY WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR HAVE THE REPAIR MADE. SINCE THIS ISSUE PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM PASSING THE STATE INSPECTION, IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY/EMISSIONS CONCERN AND ALL VEHICLES RECALLED TO REPAIR THE COMBINATION FUEL PUMP/SENDING UNIT. IF GM DOESN'T CONSIDER THIS A CONCERN AND RECALL THE VEHICLES FOR THIS REPAIR, THEN THEY NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLES RECALLED TO HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STOP COMING ON SO THE VEHICLES CAN PASS STATE INSPECTIONS. *TR
NORMAL DRIVING AND THE GAS GAUGE JUST MALFUNCTIONED. I RAN OUT OF GAS TWICE BECAUSE OF FALSE READINGS. ONE TIME HAS ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. THAT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FROM THE 10000 POSTS I'VE SEEN IN FORUMS. IT IS A $400 FIX AT THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE FUEL SENSOR GAUGE FAILED. WHENEVER FUEL WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED EMPTY CAUSING THE WARNING LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. THE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED THAT THE SENSORS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
MY LIGHTS DIM AND FLICKER ALONG WITH THE DASH BOARD INSTRUMENTATION AND THE VOLT METER DIPS DOWN TO AROUND 12. THIS PROBLEM INITIALLY OCCURRED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. IT SEEMS TO HAVE SOME SORT OF SHORT. I CALLED MY LOCAL AUTO SHOP WHO SAID HE WOULD TAKE A LOOK BUT DOUBTED HE WOULD FIND THE PROBLEM SINCE HE COULDN'T WITH THE LAST ONE HE LOOKED AT!! I REALLY ENJOY THIS VEHICLE AND I'M HOPING THAT SOMEONE STUMBLES ACROSS THE REAL ISSUE AND IS ABLE TO HELP ME TO FIX MY TRAILBLAZER. *TR
I HAVE AN 06 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER THAT THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT READING RIGHT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I WILL NEED A NEW FUEL SENSOR BUT TO GET THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE WHOLE FUEL PUMP. I HAVE DONE SOME RESOURCE ONLINE AND HAVE SEEN THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WE ALL SEEM TO FEEL THAT GM SHOULD DO A RECALL FOR THIS PART. *TR
THE FAN ON MY TRAILBLAZER QUIT WORKING ON MY A/C COMPLETELY. TOOK TO THE DEALER & IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN WITHOUT ANY REPAIR. THEN FAN SETTING #5 QUIT WORKING & I TOOK TO DEALER AGAIN. THEY STATED IT WAS THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. PICKED UP FROM DEALER WITHOUT REPLACING ANYTHING & THEN FAN QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER. REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR & IT STILL DIDN'T WORK. WIGGLED THE 7-WIRE WIRING HARNESS & IT BEGAN TO WORK. WAITING TIL IT FAILS COMPLETELY TO REPLACE. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY TRAILBLAZERS THAT HAVE HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE REPORTS, MY HARNESS WILL MELT & THEN I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT AND/OR EVENTUALLY WIGGLING IT WILL NOT WORK, NOT TO MENTION ITS VERY INCONVENIENT TO GET INTO THAT AREA OF THE CAR ON A REGULAR BASIS!!! *TR
FILLED MY GAS TANK ON MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS 4WD. JUST AFTER FILL UP FUEL GAUGE NOW REGISTERS DEAD EMPTY. SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR THE PROBLEM, SEEMS LIKE ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM (FUEL SENSOR??). MY VEHICLE HAS 73,000 APPROX MILES. I READ HUNDREDS OF POSTS WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. MY FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER SLOWLY STOPPED TO WHERE IT IS NO LONGER WORKING AT ALL. ALSO, SUDDENLY TODAY, BOTH OF MY DIM (LOW BEAM) HEAD LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AFTER HAVING THE BATTERY REPLACED. HAVE CHECKED FUSES AND THEY ARE OK. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS FOR BOTH OF THESE ISSUES. *TR
I HAVE READ ABOUT MANY OWNERS OF THE 2006 TRAILBLAZER THAT HAVE HAD GAS GAUGE NOT REGISTERING. I WAS HOPING I WOULD NOT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. NO SUCH LUCK! MY GAS GAUGE REGISTERED A LITTLE LESS THAN 1/2 TANK WHEN I FILLED UP. AFTER STARTING THE CAR, THE GAS GAUGE REGISTERED EMPTY AND CONTINUES TO REGISTER EMPTY EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED UP. MY TRAILBLAZER HAS LOW MILES, A LITTLE OVER 51,000, SO A PROBLEM LIKE THIS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION STARTED IN JAN, 2010...WHEN WILL THERE BE A RECALL????? THIS COULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM IF WE RUN OUT OF GAS UNKNOWINGLY. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING KILLED IN A REAR-END COLLISION BECAUSE WE HAVE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY, BEFORE A RECALL IS ISSUED??? THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON TOO LONG WITH NO RESOLUTION.
WE WERE MIDWAY THROUGH A 2 HOUR TRIP AND STOPPED TO FILL THE GAS TANK. UPON FILLING IT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON, THE FULL GAS GAUGE SUDDENLY DIPPED TO EMPTY, THEN CLIMBED BACK TO 1/2 TANK, THEN FELL BACK TO EMPTY AND THE YELLOW LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND FUEL LIGHT STAYED ON FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP AND THE ENTIRE TRIP BACK HOME. SINCE THAT INSTANCE THE GAUGE HAS STOPPED REGISTERING FUEL AT ALL. ONCE IN A WHILE, WHEN STARTING THE CAR AFTER IT HAS SIT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME IT WILL REGISTER FUEL AND THEN DROP TO EMPTY AGAIN. I AM CONSTANTLY WATCHING THE GAUGE AND TRYING TO KEEP TRACK OF MILEAGE. RECENTLY I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A 3 LANE INTERSTATE IN PAUSED TRAFFIC WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. THIS MADE ME VERY NERVOUS AND I CONSTANTLY WATCHED THE DASH LIGHTS FOR FEAR THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FAULTY PART THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I LOVE THE TRAILBLAZER BUT NO LONGER HAVE COMPLETE CONFIDENCE IN DRIVING IT. I AM UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING FAR FROM HOME ESPECIALLY WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS LOW MILEAGE FOR 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL KEPT. I DON'T FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE HAVING THIS SERIOUS OF AN ISSUE WITH IT. I HAVE ALWAYS DRIVEN A GM VEHICLE AND USED TO WORK FOR A GM DEALER. WE CURRENTLY OWN 3 GM PRODUCTS BUT IF THIS ISN'T ADDRESSED, WE WILL THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT OUT NEXT PURCHASE BEFORE WE BUY GM AGAIN. IT SHOULDN'T TAKE A TRAGIC ACCIDENT OR A LOSS OF LIFE FOR THE COMPANY TO SEE THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE.
GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION IN DECEMBER. IT WOULD GO FROM FULL TO EMPTY EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE. OVER TIME IT GOT WORSE AND WORSE, UNTIL NOW, WHERE IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. *TR
FUEL GAUGE STARTED MOVING ERRATICALLY FROM FULL TO EMPTY UNTIL ONE DAY STOPPED MOVING AND NOW SITS ON EMPTY
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY AN EMPTY READING WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS REFUELED TO CAPACITY. AFTER REFUELING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FOR A FEW DAYS. ONCE A FEW DAYS ELAPSED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD NOT LONGER ILLUMINATE AND THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD BEGIN DISPLAYING A READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 36,000. UPDATED 06/0611 *BF UPDATED 06/15/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE AND AS A RESULT, SHE WAS UNABLE TO TELL THE LEVEL OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR AND FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 600.00. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 108,000. FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN INACCURATE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT USED IN 2007. IT WOULD GO FROM 1/4 TANK TO OUT OF GAS IN LESS THAN 15 MILES. RAN OUT OF GAS 3 TIMES, TWICE WHEN THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WAS NOT EVEN ON. ONCE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A SNOW COVERED ROAD, VERY DANGEROUS. THIS INCIDENT REPORT IS FOR RECENT PROBLEM: AFTER FILLING THE TANK COMPLETELY WITH GAS, THE FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. EVEN AFTER TURNING IT ON AND OFF, LIGHT STAYED ON. THEN THE GAUGE FLUCTUATED FROM EMPTY TO FULL BACK TO EMPTY WHILE DRIVING. FUEL GAUGE IS NOW WORKS SPORADICALLY BUT NEVER SURE IF IT IS CORRECT. I NEED TO TRACK MILEAGE BETWEEN FILL-UPS TO ENSURE THERE IS GAS IN THE TANK. SINCE WE HAVE MULTIPLE DRIVERS IN THE FAMILY, THIS IS A NERVE-RACKING SYSTEM.
FAILURE OF ACCURATE GAS GAUGE READING ON 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LS. HAVE READ ABOUT HUNDREDS , IF NOT THOUSANDS OF CONSUMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM . GM SAYS IT IS THE FUEL SENDING SENSOR MALFUNCTION. THEY SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS . THE DANGER IT MAY BE POSING IS , NOT KNOWING HOW MUCH FUEL IS LEFT IN TANK AND A POSSIBILITY OF LOSING ENGINE POWER AND CAUSING A HORRIFIC AUTO ACCIDENT. TODAY , 11/29/2010, I FILLED MY GAS TANK AND THE GAS GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY AND THE LIGHT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT YOU ARE RUNNING LOW ON FUEL CAME ON. IT HASN'T GONE OFF EITHER. BUT THE TANK WAS FULL , I JUST FILLED IT . PLEASE LOOK INTO THE MATTER.... *TR
UPON RESTART AFTER FILLING FUEL TANK, FUEL GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY, AND LOW FUEL LEVEL WARNING INDICATOR AND AUDIBLE WARNING ARE TRIGGERED. OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING IN THIS CONDITION, CEL WILL BE ACTIVATED, WHICH WHEN READ SHOWS FUEL LEVEL SENSOR FAILURE. GAUGE WILL GRADUALLY FLOAT TOWARDS FULL, BUT WILL RANDOMLY GO BACK TO EMPTY, REACTIVATING THE WARNING LIGHT AND AUDIBLE ALARM. ONCE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL HAS BEEN CONSUMED, THE NEEDLE WILL BEGIN ACTING AS IF IT IS WORKING, ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT ENTIRELY ACCURATE, HOWEVER THE LIGHT AND ALARM WILL NO REACTIVATE UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. THIS OCCURS AT EVERY FILL UP. DUE TO THE RESTRICTIVE COSTS INVOLVED, THIS HAS NOT YET BEEN CORRECTED. SYMPTOMS FIRST NOTED LATE FALL OF 2010. *TT
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER WITH BROKEN FUEL GAUGE/ FUEL SENSOR?? IT STARTED AT ABOUT 50,00 MILES. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND SEE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT WISH TO FIX IT AND THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. THE COST IS ABOUT 600-800.00 AND SEEMS AS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR

FUEL USUALLY READS EMPTY. EVEN AFTER FILL UP. SOMETIMES WANDERS FROM 1/4 TO 1/2 THEN DROPS AGAIN. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AFTER FUELING UP, WILL GO OUT AFTER AN HR OF DRIVING .. GIVE OR TAKE. KNOWING THAT THIS MANY PEOPLE ALL ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES, GM SHOULD STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, STEP UP AND LOOK AFTER IT!!!! RUNNING OUT OF GAS IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS...BUT DOES NOT MAKE FOR HAPPY CUSTOMERS OR REPEAT BUSINESS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY MY TRAILBLAZER RAN OUT OF GAS. THE FUEL GAUGE STILL INDICATED BETWEEN 1/8TH TO 1/4 OF A TANK OF GAS LEFT. THIS LEFT MY FAMILY STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES. EVER SINCE THIS INCIDENT THE FUEL GAUGE READINGS ARE VERY SPORADIC AND INACCURATE.
THE ISSUES STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO WHEN I HAD TWO UNEXPECTED STALLS DUE TO EMPTY FUEL TANK. THE NEEDLE WAS INDICATING THAT FUEL WAS STILL AVAILABLE, THOUGH NEAR EMPTY. THEN FINALLY THE MYSTERY WAS SOLVED ON NOVEMBER 15 WHEN THE FUEL LEVEL SENDER FINALLY FAILED. I FILLED THE TANK NORMALLY BUT WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE, THE NEEDLE STAYED AT EMPTY, LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND LOW WAS DISPLAYED IN THE RANGE SPEEDO DISPLAY. AFTER A QUICK SEARCH, I REALIZED THE SOURCE OF ALL MY PROBLEMS. ANOTHER FAULTY TRAILBLAZER FUEL LEVEL SENDER. I PURCHASED THE PART FROM MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND REPLACED MY PART (NO NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE PUMP ASSEMBLY). HOWEVER AT CLOSE INSPECTION, I SEE THAT GM HAS CHANGED THE DESIGN OF THE METAL "WIPERS" THE SLIDE ALONG THE RESISTOR SEGMENTS ON THE SENDER. CLEARLY THEY REALIZED AT SOME POINT THAT THE DESIGN NEEDED IMPROVEMENT. THE NEW SENDER'S WIPERS ARE FEWER IN NUMBER, BUT ARE WIDER AND APPEAR TO MADE FROM SLIGHTLY THICKER METAL. ALL CONSIDERED, THE NEW DESIGN IS MORE ROBUST AND I ANTICIPATE LONGER LIFE. UNFORTUNATELY, AS I READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS, WE ALL SHARE THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE PAID VARIOUS AMOUNTS TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. I AM FORTUNATE THAT IT ONLY COST ME THE PART AND ONE ENTIRE EVENING. OTHERS ARE NOT SO LUCKY, THEY PAY WHATEVER THE DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO FIX THE FAULTY PART. THIS IS CLEARLY WIDESPREAD, EARLY LIFE FAILURE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY GM WITH COMPENSATION FOR A FAULTY AND NOW IMPROVED DESIGN.
AT AROUND 80,000 MILES MY 2006 CHEVEROLET TRAILBLAZER STARTED SHOWING EMPTY WHEN I FILLED UP WITH GAS. NOW AT ABOUT 85,000 MILES IT CONTINUALLY SHOWS EMPTY.
