HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT WORK BUT HIGH BEAMS DO. DRIVERSIDE DOOR CONTROL DOES NOT WORK EITHER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING AT 76 MPH, THE LOW BEAM HEAD LAMPS ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE THERMOSTAT BECAME STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TOOK A LONGER TIME TO WARM UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THERMOSTAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V755000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
LETTER FROM SENATOR CARDIN ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE GM RECALL. *SMD 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONSUMER STATED HER CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER, CUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. SHE WAS INFORMED, HER VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL. *JB.. UPDATED 10/01/14 *BF
VEHICLE DIC SHOWS "TIGHTEN FUEL CAP" MESSAGE. MESSAGE APPEARS EVEN IF FUEL CAP IS TIGHTENED. MESSAGE STILL ILLUMINATES AFTER REPLACING CAP. FUEL IN TANK CAN BE AT ANY LEVEL AND LIGHT STILL ILLUMINATES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME LATE AT NIGHT ON A DARK ROAD THE HEADLIGHTS JUST WENT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO GET HOME USING THE HIGH BEAMS. THIS HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF MORE TIMES, BUT THE HIGH BEAMS WOULD NOT ENGAGE AND I HAD TO HOLD IT ON IN ORDER TO GET HOME. *TR
DRIVER WINDOW WAS DOWN APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES AND WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. NONE OF THE ELECTRICAL PARTS ON THE DRIVER SIDE WILL WORK. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT SENT THE RECALL NOTICE TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. HE SAID THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE RECALL PARTS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE FALL. SAID THEY WOULD CHARGE 100.00 TO RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS. CALLED ANOTHER CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY WILL HAVE TO ORDER THE PARTS, IF INDEED THE RECALL IS THE PROBLEM. THE WINDOW WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN BY ITSELF, WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION, TODAY. THERE IS ALSO A VERY STRONG ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL IN THE CAR. I WILL HAVE TO LEAVE THE CAR OUTSIDE, BECAUSE THE RECALL SAYS DO NOT PARK IN THE GARAGE BECAUSE OF A FIRE, WITH THE WINDOW DOWN ALL NIGHT. *TR
RE REFERENCE TO RECALL SUBJECT : DRIVER'S MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH MAY SHORT THIS ALSO CAN CAUSE THE ENTIRE DRIVERS DOOR PANEL TO BECOME UNUSABLE (DEAD) CAUSING THE DRIVERS DOOR TO BECOME UNLOCKABLE FROM THE INSIDE YOU HAVE TO USE A KEY FROM THE OUTSIDE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR OR CLIMB OVER THE CONSOLE TO EXIT THE PASSENGER SIDE. THIS COULD BE A REAL HAZARD IN AND ACCIDENT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
I HAD THE RECALL FOR THE DOOR WINDOW MASTER CONTROL TAKEN CARE OF ABOUT 9 MONTHS- 1 YEAR AGO. TODAY, THE WINDOW OR DOOR LOCK DID NOT WORK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO TRY THE POWER MIRROR ADJUST, THE WINDOW WENT DOWN AND SMOKE CAME FROM THE DOOR PANEL. I CONTACTED GM AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS PRETTY MUCH TOUGH LUCK BECAUSE THEY ALREADY TOOK CARE OF THE RECALL. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD TAKE IT TO A GM DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED BUT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. REALLY? I'M GUESSING THE MODULE WAS BAD AND CORRODED WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR THE RECALL. THE RECALL STATES THAT IF THE WINDOW WORKS, SEAL THE PROBLEM AREA AND SEND THEM ON THEIR WAY. AT THE TIME OF THE RECALL, THE WINDOW AND OTHER COMPONENTS DID WORK BUT NOW THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS SHOWING UP. I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO WATCH RECALL WORK BEING DONE BUT OBVIOUSLY THIS PROBLEM RESULTED FROM LIQUID LEAKING IN AT ONE TIME AND CAUSING DAMAGE. IT JUST TOOK FOR TODAY TO SHOW UP AND CAUSE A PROBLEM. MY INTERIOR STINKS OF BURNT PLASTIC. MY WINDOW IS PARTIALLY DOWN AND CAN NOT BE ADJUSTED. I'VE READ ONLINE FORUMS CONSISTING OF THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT I EXPERIENCED TODAY WITH MY TRAILBLAZER. IF THIS WAS JUST A RANDOM PROBLEM OR SOMETHING CAUSED FROM MY USE OR NEGLIGENCE, I WOULD MAN UP AND TAKE CARE OF THIS ON MY OWN... BUT IT'S NOT. GM USED A BAND AID TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND SOMEBODY WILL END UP GETTING HURT OR BURNED YET. I HAVE A PROSTHETIC LEG AND WHAT IF THE DOOR LOCKS WERE LOCKED SHUT AND THE THING STARTED ON FIRE? GM LISTENED AS I [XXX] ABOUT IT BUT DIDN'T HAVE MUCH TO OFFER FOR A SOLUTION. I WILL TAKE IT TO A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER FOR THEIR "DIAGNOSIS" ON A FAULTY SWITCH AND WORKMANSHIP. IT WILL BE INTERESTING TO HEAR WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED IN WHAT HAPPENED TODAY AND THE STENCH IN MY VEHICLE. AFTER MAKING CONTACT WITH THE SHIFTER AND PUSHING IT FORWARD, THE GEAR SHIFTER INADVERTENTLY SWITCHED FROM THE DRIVE POSITION TO THE NEUTRAL POSITION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH. WHILE IN THE NEUTRAL POSITION, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE SHIFTER WOULD SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL WITHOUT HAVING TO PRESS THE BUTTON ON THE SHIFTER. DURING THE FAILURE, THE SHIFT SELECTOR INDICATOR DISPLAYED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN THE DRIVE POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH MICHELIN LTX M/S TIRES, SIZE P245/65/R17 (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD ON ALL FOUR TIRES WAS SEPARATING AND THE OUTSIDE OF THE SIDEWALLS WERE CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE DEALER AND THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13T012000 (TIRES) SINCE THE SIZE OF THE TIRES DID NOT CORRELATE WITH THE RECALL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45-50 MPH, THE CONTACT ADJUSTED THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT AND LOST ALL ELECTRICITY TO THE VEHICLE, INCLUDING THE LIGHTS, POWER LOCKS, AND POWER WINDOWS. THE CONTACT COULD NOT EXIT THE VEHICLE. SOMEONE HAD TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, ALL THE ELECTRICITY RETURNED EXCEPT THE LED LIGHTS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURES WERE SIMILAR TO THOSE LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V404000 (VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V404000 (VISIBILITY), HOWEVER THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. AFTER PURCHASING A TANK OF GAS AND DRIVING FROM THE SERVICE STATION, MY DISPLAY REGISTERED EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYED. I REVIEWED THE VEHICLE OWNER'S MANUAL AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I RETAINED THE LETTER REGARDING THIS "POSSIBLE" SITUATION THAT I RECEIVED IN 2012 OR 2013 (NOT DATED), AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I NORMALLY HAVE MY CAR SERVICED. SINCE THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE ALLOWABLE MILEAGE (120,000), I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE 50/50 PAYMENT AND THE COST ASSOCIATED WOULD BE 922.83 TO REPAIR. I TELEPHONED GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING THE CONDITION AND ADVISED THAT I FEEL THEY SHOULD BE 100% RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR, SINCE THE CONDITION WAS ANTICIPATED AND NOT DUE TO NORMAL USAGE. BASED ON THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM AND CONTINUED SAFETY ISSUE, CHEVROLET SHOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE OWNER. THIS REMAINS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT IS NOT ROUTINE OR ASSOCIATED WITH OTHER VEHICLES. THE COST IS EXCESSIVE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT GM WOULD NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR PAY ANY PORTION OF THE ASSOCIATED COST; AT THE LEAST, ALL PARTS SHOULD BE COVERED TO CORRECT THIS ANTICIPATED PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED THAT GM WOULD NOT PAY ANY COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE REPAIR. CONSUMERS ARE ASKED TO BUY AMERICAN PRODUCTS AND MANUFACTURERS DO NOT MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ENCOURAGE CONTINUED PURCHASES. *JS
VEHICLE STALLS AND SHUTS DOWN EVERYDAY. SOMETIMES JUST STALLS THEN ACCELERATES, SOMETIMES SHUTS OFF AND I CAN SWITCH TO NEUTRAL AND RESTART WHILE COASTING. OTHER TIMES I GET SHUTDOWN WARNING LIGHT AND ENGINE WILL NOT RESTART. I HAVE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER AND WAIT. ENGINE WILL THEN STRUGGLE TO RESTART AND ENGINE SHAKES VIOLENTLY. I WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND IT WILL START AND RUN FINE, SOMETIME WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, SOMETIMES NOT. RPM GAUGE WORKS SOMETIMES, SOMETIMES NOT. AT TIME THERE HAS BEEN NO RESPONSE WHEN TURNING KEY TO START. ON GOING ISSUE!! CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES, AND ISSUE STILL PERSIST. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE!! *TR
FUEL GAUGE ACTS RADICALLY GOING FROM EMPTY TO FULL. AT THIS TIME IS CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STOP AND GO AS IF IT'S OUT OF GAS. THIS HAS HAPPEN AT 55 MILES AN HOUR TO LOW AS 35 MPH. THIS HAS HAPPEN WITH IN TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING THE PERSON FROM BEHIND TO HIT ME AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS HAS HAPPEN IN A PART OF THE CITY WHERE A PERSON LIKE ME, A WHITE, FEMALE, AND ALONE AT THE TIME COULD HAVE LOST A LOT DUE TO THE HIGH CRIME RATE IN THE AREA. *TR
IT WAS RAINING AND WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A WATER PUDDLE AND HYDROPLANED OF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE TRUCK CUT OFF AND SPENT AROUND HIT A TREE HEAD ON AND THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. I WAS HOSPITALIZED WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES AND IM STILL SUFFERING. *TR
I FILLED THE TANK ON MAY 6, DROVE 4 MILES, GOT INTO THE CAR ON MAY 8, 2014 AND THE GAUGE SHOWED NO FUEL AND THE WARNING STATEMENT ON THE DASHBOARD SAID "LOW FUEL". I DROVE TO THE GAS STATION AND WAS TOLD THE TANK WAS FULL. TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I FILLED THE VEHICLE UP TO FULL WITH GASOLINE. THE BELL CHIMED SHORTLY THEREAFTER AND LOW FUEL LIGHT, AND WARNING CAME ON SHOWING LOW FUEL. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM IN 2013 ABOUT A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH EARLY WEAR OF THE FUEL SENSOR CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THEY COVERED THE EXPENSE OF REPAIR UP TO 120,000 MILES. WE NOW HAVE 134,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM JUST CAME UP, SO WILL NOT BE COVERED BY GM. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZER ONLINE, SO I KNOW THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED BY GM. I CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIR AT THIS TIME AND BELIEVE GM IS NOT RECALLING THIS FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM AS THEY SHOULD BE DOING. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE HEAD LAMPS WOULD JUST GO OFF. I WOULD STILL HAVE HIGH BEAMS HOWEVER THE LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER AND THEN COME BACK ON. THEY WERE CHECKED AND NO LOOSE CONNECTIONS WERE FOUND BUT THEY WOULD ALWAYS COME BACK ON. FAST FORWARD TO ABOUT A MONTH AGO, I WAS DRIVING HOME IN THE DARK AGAIN AND THE LIGHTS WENT OFF BUT THIS TIME THEY DID NOT COME BACK ON. THEY HAVE BEEN OUT AND HAVE NOT COME BACK ON SINCE. I STILL HAVE HIGH BEAMS BUT NO LOW BEAMS. THANK YOU *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,796 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
GAS GAUGE NOW HAS FROZEN ALL OF A SUDDEN AFTER 50,000 MILES. I FILLED UP MY TANK FULL, STARTED THE TRAILBLAZER, AND THE GAS GAUGE ONLY SAYS TANK IS 1/4 FULL!!! ? THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF ALONG WITH THE ABS AND STABILITRAK LIGHTS. SOMETIMES THEY ARE FROZEN AND STAY ON FOR DAYS. I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE ALOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THESE VEHICLES! ? UNFORTUNATELY! :-( AND NOW......THE GAS GAUGE TOO???!!! THIS DOES NOT MAKE ME HAPPY! ALWAYS LOVED CHEVY VEHICLES! I DON'T KNOW ABOUT ANYMORE! HOW TO RECTIFY THE GAS GAUGE???? *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT (FORTUNATELY IN WELL LIT AREAS), I THOUGHT I HAD INADVERTENTLY TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS OFF. WHEN I TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS OFF THEN BACK ON THE LOW BEAMS CAME ON. LAST NIGHT I CAME OUT OF THE GROCERY STORE AND NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS DID NOT COME ON WHEN I USED THE REMOTE ENTRY TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. IT TOOK A FEW MOMENTS TO REALIZE MY LOW BEAMS WERE STILL NOT ON ONCE I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. MY HI BEAMS, PARKING LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS ARE ALL WORKING. TWENTY-FOUR HOURS MY LOW BEAMS STILL ARE NOT WORKING. *TR
MY SON IN LAW WAS DRIVING THE CAR WITH MY PERMISSION AND WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN THE VEHICLE STALLED; THERE WAS NO STEERING OR BRAKES. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP DURING THE TURN AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO CONTINUE TURNING ON IT'S OWN AND I PROCEEDED TO HIT A POLE. THE RADIO AND LIGHTS WERE STILL ON DURING THIS TIME, HOWEVER, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE FAILED AND DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE READING OF EMPTY WHEN THERE WAS A HALF TANK OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FUEL LEVER SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V404000 (VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS), BUT THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENDLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE UNKNOWN. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE TRAILBLAZER WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED WHEN I LIVED IN INDIANA AND NHTSA 12V406000 COVERS THIS. THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

IN JANUARY 2014, I STARTED MY 2007 TRAILBLAZER WHEN I GOT OFF WORK AND THE WASHER FLUID AND WIPERS STARTED OPERATING ON THEIR OWN, AND THEN THEY STOPPED. THIS CONTINUED OFF AND ON FOR ABOUT 2 MONTHS. MY WIPERS AND WASHER OPERATING WHEN EVER THEY WANTED TO WHEN THE SWITCH WAS TURNED OFF. ONE EVENING MY HUSBAND WAS IN FRONT OF ME AND THE WASHERS WOULD NOT STOP AND FINALLY RAN DRY. MY HUSBAND PULLED THE FUSE UNDER THE HOOD TO DEACTIVATE THE WASHERS AND THE ONE UNDER THE BACK SEAT TO DEACTIVATE THE WIPERS. I DRIVE MY TRAILBLAZER LIKE THIS. WHEN IT RAINS, I PUT THE FUSE IN THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE BACK SEAT AND WHEN IT STOPS RAINING I TAKE THE FUSE BACK OUT BECAUSE MY WIPERS NOW WILL NOT STOP AT ALL. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE TIRE AIR SENSOR INDICATED THAT AIR IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS LOW BUT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT AIR IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS LOW. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

I HAVE A RARE TRAILBLAZER WITH A 5.3L V8. IT IS VERY LOW MILES WITH 41000, OIL CHANGES EVERY 3-4000 MILES AT GM DEALERSHIPS. I AM AN EX DIESEL MECHANIC OF 10 YEARS. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT A YEAR AGO WHEN THE DEALERSHIP STATED: THAT 1 QUART OF OIL USED IN 2000 MILES WAS NORMAL CONSUMPTION. I HAVE CHECKED OTHER SITES AND MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE 5.3L IN THE 1/2 TONS AND LARGER SUVS THAT THE MOTOR IS STANDARD IN. I HAVE WORKED ON ALMOST EVERY GAS, NATURAL GAS AND DIESEL ENGINE FROM THE 80S-LATE 90S AND ANY MOTOR THAT USES 1/6TH OF ITS OIL IN 1000 MILES AS IT MINE DID WHEN VISITING FAMILY LAST THANKSGIVING IS NOT NORMAL 1 QUART IN 770 MILES. I DECIDED TO CHECK THE WEB IF THERE IS ANY TRAFFIC ON THE PROBLEM. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND HUNDREDS OF POSTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM, AND GMS LACK OF ABILITY OR DESIRE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT DOES NOT TAKE A ROCKET SCIENTIST TO FIGURE OUT THAT GM HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE PISTON RINGS AND VALVE GUIDES LEAKING INTO THE CYLINDER WHEN IN 4 CYL. MODE, CAUSED BY THE SUCTION CAUSED BY THE POWER STROKE (OF THE 4 STOKE CYCLE) WITH BOTH VALVES CLOSED. OIL BURNS OFF CAUSING BUILDUP FURTHER DAMAGING THE ENGINE SENSORS AND CAT. CONVERTER. GM MUST HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM, BECAUSE NEW 5.3LS HAVE NOT SHOWN THE SAME ISSUE. TO NOT SAY IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE IS INSANE. WHAT IF IT HAPPENS ON A HILL WHILE TOWING, DRIVING ACROSS A DESERT, OR IN THE WINTER. LASTLY IF YOU ADD UP ALL 2007 5.3LS ON THE ROAD BURNING 2 QUARTS OR MORE IN 3000 MILES, HOW IS THAT NOT AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. *TR
