THE STEEL CABLE ON THE SUPPORT ANCHOR TO THE SEATBELT SNAPPED WHILE MY WIFE WAS FASTENING IT. THIS HAD A RECALL IN 2014 AND WAS FIXED ACCORDING TO RECORDS. CHEVROLET WAS CONTACTED SAID PROBLEM WAS FIXED, RECALL WAS CLOSED, THIS IS "NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR" THIS WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE WAS PARKED AND GETTING READY TO PULL OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING HAPPENS ON TWO OCCASIONS. 1. WHEN AT A STOP AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN. 2. WHEN DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN.
EVAPORATOR LEAKING. NO WORKING A/C IN CAR.
WHILE DRIVING WITH MY DAUGHTER MY TRUCK STARTED TO PICK UP SPEED THAN SLOW DOWN AS IF IT WAS ABOUT TO CUT OFF. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THAN THE ENGINE POWER STARTED TO REDUCE .WE HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND WE TOLD SEVERAL DIFFERENT CODES SHOWED. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED US THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER LOOKING UP RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM OTHERS ARE HAVING WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL I CALLED GM TO SEE IF THEY WERE WILLING TO HELP. I WAS TOLD THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS NOT BIG AS OF NOW BUT IN THE FUTURE IF THEY CONTINUE TO HAVE THEM PROBLEMS THEY WOULD SEND ME OUT A RECALL ON IT. MY PROBLEM IS HOW MANY MORE COMPLAINTS DO THEY NEED BEFORE THEY RECALL TIMING CHAIN FOR THE TRAVERSE. I FEEL THEY ARE VERY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING IF THE TRUCKS WILL SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING HIGH SPEEDS. A LOT OF PEOPLE CAN BE HURT BEING THIS.
MY TRAVERSE CURRENTLY HAS 75K MILES AND IS ALREADY HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIMING CHAIN. I TOOK IT TO CHEVY BUT. WAS GOING TO BE AROUND 3K TO GET FIXED. THIS CAR IS ALMOST BRAND NEW AND WE'VE TAKEN CARE OF IT AND UPPER MAINTENANCE. ITS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND I CANT AFFORD IT. I THOUGHT CHEVY WOULD STICK TO THEIR WORD AND KEEPING GREAT QUALITY CARS. IVE ALWAYS BOUGHT CHEVY AND CURRENTLY MY 3RD CHEVY CAR BUT ITS OBSURD HOW CHEAPER AND MORE PROBLEMATIC THEYRE GETTING AND IVE LOOKED INTO IT ONLINE AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ON VARIOUS SITES HAVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN AT AROUND 80K MILES AND ONCE IT GETS FIXED IT HAS THE CONSTANT PROBLEM OVER AND OVER. ALL I ASK IS CHEVY TO MAKE IT RIGHT AND KEEP THEIR WORD AND SELL GOOD CARS AND PUT A RECALL ON IT AND FIX THE PROBLEM. I KNOW CHEVY MAKES GREAT MONEY AND THEY CAN MAKE IT RIGHT AND GIVE PEOPLE WHAT THEY PAY FOR. MY CAR STILL HAVE A LOT OF LIFE AND IM JUST SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS, ITS SO STRESSFUL. PLEASE HELP. WHAT IVE UPLOADED IS ONLY FROM THAT WEBSITE BUT THEIR IS MANY!! AND BAD WORD GOING AROUND BECAUSE OF IT. PLEASE MAKE IT RIGHT AND HELP US.
TIMING CHAINS STRETCHED. REVIEWED ONLINE COMPLAINTS AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. CHEVY HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD GO OFF SOMETIMES. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN I WAS TOLD THAT MY STRUT WAS ALSO LEAKING. $3000 LATER I HAVE NEW TIMING CHAINS AND BREAKS, AND STILL NEED TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $1000 FOR THE STRUTS. I DRIVE MAINLY HIGHWAY TO AND FROM WORK. NO REASON TIMING CHAIN SHOULD HAVE JUST STRETCHED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS UNABLE TO BE RESTARTED. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STOCKERS CHEVROLET (701 BENNER PIKE, STATE COLLEGE, PA 16801, (814) 515-9941) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN MALFUNCTIONED. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE FAILED AND BLEW OUT FOUR CYLINDERS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DOOR LOCKS UNLOCK/LOCK AND THEN THE CAR SEEMS TO GO INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RPM GOES TO ABOUT 7,000. THIS HAS KILLED THE ENGINE TWICE. GM HAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER 8-423-8930914. TCM, CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND NEUTRAL SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED AND NO CHANGE. HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS - 75, 55,40,8MPH AND STOPPED. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 30 TIMES IN THE 34 DAYS THAT WE HAVE OWNED IT. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES.
ALARM SOUNDS FOR NO APPARENT REASON. NO ONE ATTEMPT TO GET INTO VEHICLE. HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES WEEKS. ALSO HOOD LATCH LIGHT ON DASH COMES AND GOES.
WE HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND WHEN TESTED WE RECEIVED SEVERAL DIFFERENT CODES. THE VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE AND RAN ROUGH. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED US THAT THE TIMING CHAIN HAD STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH SEVERAL DIFFERENT GM CARS INCLUDING THE ACADIA AND ENCLAVE. GM PROVIDES A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT FOR SEVERAL MAKES AND MODELS FOR THIS ISSUE UNDER "SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #11340C", BUT NOT THE 2010 TRAVERSE.
2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE LOST POWER STEERING WHILE BEING DRIVEN BY SON. INITIAL FAILURE OCCURRED AT STREET SPEEDS. THE CAR COULD BE STEERED WITHOUT POWER BUT IT WAS DIFFICULT AT LOW SPEEDS. DEALER WAS INFORMED OF SOUNDS WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 100,000 MILES BUT NOTHING WAS DONE. THE CAR CURRENTLY HAS 133,000 MILES (2-3 YEARS AFTER SOUNDS REPORTED TO DEALER).
THE AC IS HISSING AND SMOKE IS COMING OUT OF THE VENTS I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL AS I SEE THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THESE VEHICLES!
STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT FROM TIME TO TIME. MORE OFTEN WHEN REVERSING OR PARALLEL PARKING
TAKATA RECALL FOR THE TIMING CHAINS. MY FAMILY AND I WAS ON OUR WAY TO CHICAGO WHEN I HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS THE ISSUE AND WAS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THESE CARS.
IN 2014, I HAD THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUES. GM COVERED ALL BUT $1,000 OF THE REPAIR. NOW AGAIN, 4 YEARS LATER, AND 40,000 MILES ON THE TIMING CHAIN THAT WAS REPLACED, I'M HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. DEALER SAYS TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM OVER THE 5 YEAR, 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, SO THEY TELL ME IT WON'T BE COVERED AND IT WILL ALL BY AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW, AND WE THE CONSUMERS ARE EXPECTED TO FOOT THE BILL. IT'S NOT FAIR, AND NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR TIMING CHAIN WARRANTY FROM TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE EXTENDED SERVICE 11340-C. OR DO A COMPLETE RECALL!!! HOW THERE HASN'T BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT YET IS BEYOND ME....
VEHICLE HAS 89K MILES AND ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PER DIAGNOSTIC CODE AND MECHANIC, VEHICLE NEEDS NEW TIMING CHAIN. THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD LAST UP TO 120K MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE GM TIMING CHAINS USED AT THAT TIME AND GM WILL NOT WARRANTY/PROVIDE SPECIAL COVERAGE TO MY VEHICLE. IF I DRIVE THE VEHICLE (WHICH I WILL NOT) IT CAN STOP RUNNING AT ANY TIME AND THE TIMING CHAIN CAN BREAK WHICH WILL BLOW THE ENGINE. HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND IT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY GM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CHEVROLET OF NAPERVILLE (1515 W OGDEN AVE, NAPERVILLE, IL 60540, (630) 324-0750), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE STILL COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WARRANTIES ON THE VEHICLE WERE EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MILES PER HOUR, A MESSAGE YES IT SAID TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF SERVICE STABILITRAK. THEN IT SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCED! THE VEHICLE QUICKLY WENT FROM 75MPH DOWN TO 30 WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE! I WAS IN THE PASSING LANE AND THE TRUCK BEHIND ME LOCKED UP HIS BRAKES AND STILL BARELY AVOIDED ME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JAMES MARTIN CHEVROLET (6250 WOODWARD AVE, DETROIT, MI 48202, 313-875-0500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,500.
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEARLER IN WALDORF MARYLAND WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR I NOTICED THE FRONT END WAS DOWN, I DROVE LIKE I WAS ON A TRACTOR. IT WAS NOT THIS WAY WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF. I HAVE 3 DIFFERENT PEOPLE THAT CAN VOUCH FOR THIS. THE DEALER SHIP NOR GM WILL GIVE ME AN ANSWER. THE ASST SER MGT SAID IF THE MECHANIC FAILED TO SAY SOMETHING HE APOLOGIZED . WHEN ON THE PHONE WITH GM THE DEALER SHIP WOULD NOT TALK TO ME ON THE PHONE FOR AN EXPLAINTION BUT SAID WE DID NOTHING TO YOUR CAR BUT WOULD NOT RALK ON THE PHONE ONLY PROVING TO BE HIDING SOMETHING OF THE TRUTH.
THERE HAVE BEEN SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH CAR SINCE WE BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN 2010 FROM THE COMPLETE FUEL SYSTEM REPLACED TO 3 ENTIRE BRAKES REPLACED, TO TRANSMISSION SLIPPING, TO TRACKTION STILBILITY CONTROL LIGHTS FAILING, TO POWER STEERING PUMP , TO FAULTY CONTROL BOX ISSUES, REPLACEMENT OF WINDOW SHIELD WIPER MOTOR, AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING MODULE. MOST OF THIS UNDER WARRANITY OR NOT COVERED STILL AT ALL IN FIRST 4 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CAR. ITS LITERALLY A PILE OF JUNK. SO MANY SAFETY ISSUES THAT GM WONT LIST AS A RECALL. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED BUT STILL FAIL DO ANYTHING. THE DEALER SHIP HERE IN WALDORF MD, TO CONCEAL WHAT THEY DID LATELY TO MY CAR IN DAMAGING THE FRONT SHOCKS AND STRUTS WOULDNT EVEN GET ON THE PHONE WITH A CONFERENCE CALL WITH ME INSTEAD REFUSED TO TALK TO ME AND ALSO BAN ME FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHICH LEADS TO MORE SUSPICION THAT THEY ARE HIDING THE TRUTH THAT THEY DID SOMETHING TO DAMAGE MY CAR. THIS IS THE ONLY DEALER IN TOWN TOO. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST COMPLAINT. DONT BUY THIS CAR. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS, A LEMON.

STRETCHED TIMING CHAIN WITH ONLY 45000 MILES. RECALL OF LIKE ISSUE FOR 2007, 2008, AND 2009 BUT NOT FOR 2010 MODEL YEAR
I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE. FIRST IT STARTED WITH A WARNING LIGHTS OF THE STABILIZING TRACK BEING TURNED OFF AND MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON. ON 2/18/2018 MY REDUCE ENGINE WARMING POPPED ON WHILE I'M DOING 75MPH AND MY CAR LOST POWER WHILE I'M ON THE CALIFORNIA FREEWAY, SHAKING AND SLOWING COMPLETELY DOWN. I'M PREGNANT AND I WAS SCARED THAT SOMEONE COULDN'T OF JUST SLAMMED RIGHT INTO ME. I PULLED OVER TO SHUT DOWN MY VEHICLE TO TRY TO RESET IT BUT IT DIDN'T WORK. ALL THE SAME WARNING LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR WOULDN'T GO PAST 40MPH WHILE SPUTTERING ON MY WAY TO WORK. I BOUGHT THE SUV USED TWO YEARS AGO WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL RECENTLY. I WAS NOT INFORMED ABOUT ANY RECALLS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT'S VERY UPSETTING SINCE THIS IS MY FAMILY CAR AND MY SELF AND MY KIDS ARE IN IT 99% OF THE TIME AND MY JOB IS 70 MILES AWAY FROM MY HOME. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE, NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STUD ON. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR ANY MAJOR REPAIRS. ESPECIALLY ONE THAT IS A WIDE SPREAD ISSUE AND GM IS AWARE OF.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DISPLAYS THEN ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING COMES ON, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SLOW AT ANY TIME (VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ON THE FREEWAY). THE THROTTLE NEEDLE AND CAR SHAKES AND CAR WILL CUT OFF AND STALL TO TURN ON AGAIN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LEWISTON AUTO, 300 DEBRA DRIVE, LEWISTON, MN 55952) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
EVERY TIME WHEN IT'S REAL COLD OUT AND I'M DRIVING MY STABILITRAK COME ON AND MY ENGINE REDUCED POWER CLEAN THROTTLE BODY ALREADY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS HERE'S A RECALL ON THROTTLE BODY FOR A 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE NEED TO CALL CHEVY DEALER AND SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS
POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE PARKING AT LOW SPEED. TOOK THE CAR TO A CHEVY DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING DIAGNOSTICALLY WRONG WITH IT. VERY DISCONCERTING.
ENGINE STOPPED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH PARKING LOT AT WORK.
AT ROUGHLY 130000 MILES, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC BECAUSE OF A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS DUE TO MY TIMING CHAINS. I HAVE KNOWN OF ANOTHER CASE OF THE SAME PROBLEM IN A VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ENGINE AS MINE THAT HAD THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEN. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT HE FIXED AT LEASE 12 VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM IN THE LAST YEAR.
AT 90,000 MILES, A P0008 CODE CAME UP AND THE ENTIRE TIMING CHAIN SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST WAS $2870.00 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE MOTOR HAD TO BE DROPPED. IF THE VEHICLE WAS A 2009, THEY WOULD HAVE REPAIRED IT UNDER WARRANTY BUT BECAUSE IT WAS A 2010, CHEVY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
MY ACCELERATOR WENT TO THE FLOOR AND STUCK TWICE IN ONE DAY. ONCE UPON STARTING AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I TRIED TO BREAK BUT IT DIDN'T WORK SO I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND WAITED FOR IT TO WIND DOWN. IT WENT FROM ABOUT 65 MPH TO ABOUT 80 WHILE STUCK.

P008 P0017 SAME PROBLEMS WITH EARLIER YEARS. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED AS WELL. DRIVING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TO SHOW THESE CODES. COST FOR REPAIR IS WAY TOO MUCH MONEY.
TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED APR 2015 AT 60,380 MILES, TIMING CHAIN NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN OCT 2017 AT 77,689 MILES, MAJOR PART OF ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED THIS QUICKLY, TIMING CHAIN IS DEFECTIVE? MAY HAVE CAUSED LOSS OF POWER, AT HIGH SPEEDS DURING FREEWAY DRIVING, WITH POSSIBLE DEVASTATING RESULTS, FOUND NUMEROUS ARTICLES ONLINE DESCRIBING THIS PROBLEM
IN 2015, OUR VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING WEIRD SOUND ON ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION. ACCELERATION WOULD RAMP SLOWLY OR STALL SPORADICALLY WHILE IN MOTION. WE TOOK IT INTO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP, WHERE WE WERE TOLD THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED. WE PAID FOR THE REPAIR. IN NOVEMBER 2017, THE SAME EVENTS OCCURRED AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS A STRETCHED INTERNAL TIMING CHAIN.
POWER STEERING AND TIMING CHAIN FAILED IN VEHICLE AT 74K MILES. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUES FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED. WHILE IN MOTION ON NOVEMBER 4, 2017, OUR VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER EVENTUALLY SHUTTING OFF. UPON TRYING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WE HEARD A GRINDING SOUND. WE IMMEDIATELY PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO A NEAR BY REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP. UPON THEIR EVALUATION IT WAS DETERMINED THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS TO INFORM THEM OF THE ISSUE, THEY RESPONDED BY HAVING US TO TOW OUR VEHICLE TO DON BROWN CHEVROLET IN SAINT LOUIS MISSOURI. GENERAL MOTORS ASKED US TO AUTHORIZE DON BROWN TO "BREAK DOWN" THE VEHICLE IN WHICH WE AGREED. WE WERE THEN INFORMED BECAUSE OF A COST ANALYSIS BEING PERFORMED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND DON BROWN, A BREAK DOWN OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT NECESSARY AND NOTHING WOULD BE DONE BY THE MANUFACTURER TO REPAIR THE POWER STEERING OR TIMING CHAIN. IT IS WIDELY REPORTED OLD TIMING CHAINS WERE INSTALLED IN 2009-2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WHICH HAS LED TO SEVERAL ENGINE FAILURES AND INOPERABLE VEHICLES OF CONSUMERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR GENERAL MOTORS TO HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES WITH TIMING CHAINS THAT STRETCH AND CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS PLACED A HARDSHIP ON FAMILIES WHEN THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE VERY EXPENSIVE COST OF THESE REPAIRS. WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO FROM A CHEVY DEALER AND TO HAVE IT TO BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT OFFERED ANY RELIEF WITH AN ISSUE KNOWN TO THEM.BEING OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT PURCHASING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD EXCLUDE DEFECTS AS IN THE ONES STATED IN THIS COMPLAINT.

PREMATURE STRETCHING OF THE TIMING CHAIN. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED AND ADMITTED DEFECT BY GENERAL MOTORS FOR THE 2009 MODEL YEAR TRAVERSE VEHICLES, SERVICE BULLETINS 10287C - APRIL 2012 AND 11340A - MAY 2012. OUR VEHICLE, WHICH IS LABELED AS AN EARLY 2010 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE (BUILT IN OCTOBER 2009) WAS BUILT IN THE SAME FACTORY (SPRING HILL, TN) AND WITH THE SAME COMPONENTS (3.6L V6 ENGINE) AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE BULLETINS BUT WE DID NOT RECEIVE THE EXTENDED COVERAGE. OUR VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED IN THE SPECIAL PROGRAM.
EVERYTIME WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED, IT MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. IT KEEPS GETTING WORSE. EVEN WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS BARELY TURNED.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED THIS EVENING IN MY 2010 TRAVERSE AS WELL AS SERVICE STABILITRACK AND TRACTION CONTROL. AS I ACCELERATED MY FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR WENT DOWN AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES IT WOULD SHOOT UP TO FULL. I AM ONE OF MANY TO DEAL WITH THE ISSUE WITH SPECIFICALLY A CHEVY TRAVERSE.
AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE IN TO HAVE MY OIL REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP, AS I WAS LEAVING I BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE TROUBLE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. WENT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY VEHICLE LOOKED AT IN ROUTE HOME, AND WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND THE WHEEL (PULLEY) MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT TO WAIT BECAUSE THEY HAVE OVER 80 2010 TRAVERSE OWNERS WITH THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM AND GM IS AWARE OF THIS SO LETS HOPE SOON THIS WILL BE RECALLED TO HAVE FIXED AT NO COST TO ME. IT'S BEEN OVER TWO WEEKS AND I HAVE YET TO READ OR HEAR ABOUT THIS ISSUE BEING RECALLED FOR SERVICE REPAIRS. I CAN'T TURN LEFT OR RIGHT AT SLOW SPEEDS OR WHEN PARKING WITHOUT PLACING A HARD STRAIN ON MY BACK TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. PLEASE GM DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS SERIOUS VEHICLE SAFETY ISSUE SOON!! I CAN'T EVEN DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY OF FEAR THIS WILL CAUSE ME TO CRASH AND IT IS MY ONLY RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION.
THE STEERING RACK ON THIS VEHICLE WENT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE IN MANY OF THESE VEHICLES OF THIS YEAR. PRIOR YEARS OF THIS MAKE AND MODEL HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT AS OF YET THE 2010 HAS NOT. THEY REPLACED MY STEERING PUMP AND TOLD ME THE RACK WAS GONE AND WOULD BE 1700 TO REPLACE. THE CAR CANNOT BE DRIVEN AS IT IS UNSAFE. THE TIMING CHAIN IS ALSO GONE WHICH IS ANOTHER ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL THAT CHEVROLET IS NOT DEALING WITH. ALTHOUGH THIS DOES NOT RENDER THE VEHICLE UNSAFE IT IS OVERALL A VERY BADLY DESIGNED VEHICLE. MY MAJOR ISSUE IS THE SAFETY AND READ MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I CAN NO LONGER USE THE VEHICLE AS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND A SERIOUS FINANCIAL HARDSHIP. I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN GOOD FAITH ACCORDING TO THE SAFETY RATING TO TRANSPORT MY GRANDCHILDREN AND FRIENDS AND IT IS NOW UNSAFE AND UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN. RANDOMLY TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK IN GEAR AND WILL NOT SHIFT. STOP THE CAR, TURN OFF AND THEN START AND PROBLEM USUALLY CLEARS AND TRANSMISSION WILL SHIFT NORMALLY. PROBLEM MAY CLEAR FOR A WEEK , A COUPLE OF DAYS OR MAY HAPPEN AGAIN ON RE-START. DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PATTERN TO FAILURE. CAN HAPPEN AT START-UP OR AFTER THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. APPEARS TO BE STUCK IN A LOWER GEAR SINCE THIS HAPPENS @ 20 MPH. CAN HAPPEN ON HIGHWAY WHEN SLOWING DOWN FOR CONSTRUCTION AND THEN TRY TO SPEED UP BUT CAN NOT - MUST PULL OVER AND RE-START CAR.
AT LOW SPEEDS TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT THE STEERING LOCKS UP AND IS DIFFICULT TO TURN. CANNOT ALWAYS MAKE A TURN AS EXPECTED AND MUST MAKE WIDE TURN INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC BUT USUALLY ABLE TO STOP IN TIME. HAPPENS RANDOMLY. HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE WE BOUGHT THE CAR @ 1 YEAR.
CHEVROLET TRAVERSE ASSISTED POWER STEERING INTERMITTENTLY I WILL LOSE POWER STEERING WHILE MAKING LOW SPEED TURNS. EVEN THOUGH A 2010 TRAVERSE IS ON THE 14329A RECALL, MY VIN ISN'T ON THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RYAN CHEVROLET (1800 SOUTH BROADWAY, MINOT, ND 58701) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 8-3752702765. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 138,000.
