TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,508.
MY AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT TO HIGHER GEARS WHEN I ACCELERATE. I HAVE TO PULL OVER, COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, SHIFT THE CAR INTO PARK AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE. THAT SOMEHOW "RESETS" THE TRANSMISSION AND THE ENGINE BEHAVES NORMALLY AFTER THAT. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY. FRUSTRATING THING IS THAT MECHANICS HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO MAKE IT HAPPEN ONCE. THEY SAY THEY ARE UNABLE TO ID WHAT'S WRONG. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT AT ALL. I'M TELLING THEM EXACTLY WHAT'S HAPPENING AND THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START. AND THE CAR'S COMPUTER DOESN'T KICK OUT AN ERROR MESSAGE. THIS HAPPENS ON ALL KINDS OF ROADS. MY CAR WON'T SHIFT OUT OF 1ST GEAR. IF I DON'T PULL OVER TO "RESET" THE ENGINE, I GET A HOT METAL SMELL FROM THE ENGINE. VERY FRUSTRATING....THE MECHANICS HAVE NO CLUE WHERE TO START LOOKING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MONTHS. I'VE GONE TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THEY'RE ALL GRASPING AT STRAWS.
SINCE MAY 2017 I HAVE HAD ISSUES WHERE THIS CAR WILL RUN PERFECT ALL DAY AND WHEN I SHUT IT OFF AND GO TO GET BACK IN IT IT WILL NOT START. IT IS LIKE IT IS DISABLED. BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN MONTHLY AND WHEN VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. THIS LAST TIME I WAS GETTING TRANSMISSION FLUSHED AND THE MECHANIC HAD FINISHED FIRST PART AND ASKED ME TO START IT AND GOT NOTHING. ALL THE LIGHTS COME ON IT WILL NOT START TRIED SEVERAL TIMES HAD TO BE PUSHED OUT OF GARAGE AND CALL A TOW TRUCK AGAIN. DEALER CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. IN JULY WE REPLACED THE STARTER AND A BATTERY CABLE AND AS SOON AS I GOT HOME AND PARKED IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING.
AT 68,000 MILES, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER WHO SAID IT WAS A TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD COST ABOUT $3200 TO FIX. DOING SOME RESEARCH (OBD2 CODES P0008 AND P0009) THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE, SPANNING MANY MODELS AND MODEL YEARS.
HAVING PROBLEM WITH MY STEERING WHEEL ON MY 2010 TRAVERSE. EVERY TIME I TURN ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M TRYING TO PARK THE STEERING WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO TURN LIKE IF THE VEHICLE HAD NO STEERING FLUID. IT'S PROBLEM THAT LOTS OF OWNER WITH THE SAME MODEL HAVE AND I THINK GM SHOULD MAKE THIS A RECALL.
MY 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE WAS BUILT IN SPRING HILL TENNESSEE FACILITY IN 2009. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AT THE END OF FEBRUARY 2010. MY VEHICLE WAS MAINTAINED PER MANUFACTURER INSTRUCTIONS, OIL WAS ALWAYS CHANGED, USUALLY AROUND WHIT 40% OF OIL REMAINING AND ALWAYS BEFORE THE OIL LIFE WAS EXHAUSTED. AT ~91000 MILES CAR DISPLAYED INTERMITTENT CHECK ENGINE SIGN WHICH BECOME PERMANENT AROUND ~94,000 MILES. I TOOK THE CAR TO MECHANIC WHICH SHOWED MULTIPLE ERRORS, AFTER FIXING CAMSHAFT SENSOR THE CHECK ENGINE SIGN REMAINED AND MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT I HAVE DRIVE CHAIN ERROR. THE ENGINE STARTED LOSING POWER, FAILED TO ACCELERATE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER I BOUGHT FROM, WAS TOLD CAR HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES INCLUDING CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND STARTER, RUSTED LEAKING Y-TIES BUT MOST EXPENSIVE WAS TIMING CHAIN AT ABOVE $2300. BOTH I AND DEALER CONTACTED GENERAL MOTOR CUSTOMER CARE SERVICE. AFTER TAKING MY INITIAL CALL, GM ASSIGNED CASE TO A SERVICE ADVISER WHO NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. SHE APPARENTLY RETURNED DEALER SERVICE MANAGER'S CALL AND ADVISED HIM TO OFFER ME $1000 DISCOUNT AT DEALER'S EXPENSE WHO ADVISED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT GM, AS MANUFACTURER OF DEFECTIVE PART SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. GM REFUSED ANY HELP WITH THE REPAIR OF VEHICLE ALTHOUGH THE TIMING CHAIN IS CLEARLY DEFECTIVE..
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT ABOUT 78,000 MILES. DEALER INDICATED IT WAS THE DRIVE CHAIN NEEDED REPAIR ($2000-2500). THIS PROBLEM WAS COVERED BY SPECIAL POLICY #11340B ' SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT ' TIMING CHAIN WEAR " IN 2009 CHEVY TRAVERSE MODELS. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE AND CARE, USUALLY BY THE DEALER. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE AT ONLY 78,000 MILES.
TIMING CHANGE REPLACED 06/26/2017 COST ME 2505.34 DOLLARS ONLY HAD 72896 MILES ALL I GOT FROM GM WAS SORRY THINGS DO WARE OUT CASE NUMBER #[XXX] LIGHT CAME ON WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TT
CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO TIMING CHAIN AND CRANKSHAFT FAILURE. MY MECHANIC SUGGESTED CONTACTING GM AS IT WAS KNOWN FAILURE AND ISSUE. GM WAS UNRESPONSIVE TO PROVIDING ANY ASSISTANCE.
ENGINE LIGHT IS ON/OFF LATELY, CODES P0017 CAMSHAFT POSITION CORRELATION BANK 1 & P0008 ENGINE POSITION SYSTEM PERFORMANCE BANK 1.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN CAR. CODE STATED THAT IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE I FOUND WHERE GM RECALLED HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES TO INCLUDE CHEVY TRAVERSES DURING THE 2010 MODEL YEAR BECAUSE OF FAULTY FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULES OR (CHASSIS ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES). GM RECALL, BULLETIN # 14515B. I SPOKE TO SEVERAL GM DEALERS IN TOWN WHO GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND ABOUT HOW THIS WAS NOT A SAFETY RECALL BECAUSE OF FAULTY PARTS BUT AN "INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN". LONG STORY SHORT I HAD TO PAY 300 DOLLARS TO GET A NEW MODULE PROGRAMMED. THE DAMAGE WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE IF I WOULD HAVE LET THEM RUN MORE DIAGNOSTICS PRIOR TO FIXING THE ISSUE. I COMPLAINED TO GM WHO SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND REFERRED ME TO NHTSA. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THE MODULE CAN BECOME CONTAMINATED BECAUSE OF WET CONDITIONS. ON JUNE 12, 2017 CHEYENNE WY HAD A VERY LARGE HAIL STORM THAT MY VEHICLE WAS CAUGHT IN WHILE DRIVING IN THE CITY AND THE MODULE MAY HAVE GOTTEN WET CAUSING THE PROBLEM. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT GM RECALLED THIS SAME PART ON ALL THESE OTHER VEHICLES TO INCLUDE 2010 TRAVERSES BUT FOR WHAT EVER REASON MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE MY VEHICLE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AS TO WHY THEY RECALLED ALL THESE OTHERS. I STILL HAVE THE FAULTY MODULE IF ANYONE WANTS TO CHECK IT OUT BECAUSE IT IS THE SAME PART AND PART NUMBER WHICH WAS RECALLED. MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AND I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED MY MONEY FOR THIS REPAIR.

WHILE DRIVING TO WORK,I START HEARING DINGS. I LOOK AT THE DASH AND IT TELLS ME THAT MY TRACTION IS OFF, TO CHECK MY STABILITRACK, AND ALSO THE BRAKE WAS ON. THEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS TURNED BACK OFF EXCEPT THE TRACTION LIGHT. NOW IT FEELS AS THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS BEING PULLED BACKWARDS AS I TRY TO DRIVE. DEFINITELY A LOSS OF POWER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 8/3034264137. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 77,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (CANDLE CHEVROLET, EUGENE, OREGON) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT AN AIR CONDITIONING HOSE WAS NEEDED; HOWEVER, THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER (CHEVROLET CADILLAC, BEND, OREGON) WHO ALSO STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.
THE AC SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. WE HAVE RECHARGED IT AND NOW IT IS GOING INTO THE MECHANIC NEXT WEEK FOR WORK. IT STARTED OUT WITH A HISSING NOISE, THEN WENT TO WHERE ONE SIDE BLEW HOT AIR AND THE OTHER COOL NOT COLD AIR, GOT THAT FIXED AND AC RECHARGED WORKED ALL LAST SUMMER AND NOW THIS SUMMER NOTHING NO AC HAD IT RECHARGED AND WITHIN 5 DAYS IT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. FROM ALL OF THE RESEARCH WE HAVE DONE IT APPEARS THERE ARE A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE AC SYSTEM IN THE TRAVERSE AMONG OTHER CROSSOVER SUV AND IT IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. WE PURCHASED THE TRAVERSE IN MAY 2015 AC WORKED, 2016 RECHARGED IT AND FIXED THE BLOWER MOTOR AND NOW 2017 NO AC.

2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CODE P0017. DEALER IS STATING IT IS A TIMING CHAIN, COST AROUND $2700. TRAVERSE ONLY HAS 101,000 MILES ON IT. MY CHEVY TRAVERSE SHOULD NOT BE NEEDING A TIMING CHAIN REPLACED AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. GM IS NOT BEING COOPERATIVE WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS OF THIS PROBLEM ONLINE. THERE ARE SPECIFIC AREAS IN THE COUNTRY WHERE GM IS PAYING FOR THIS REPAIR BUT IT IS VIN SPECIFIC. GM IS STATING THAT IF MANUFACTURED IN CERTAIN PLANTS, TIMING CHAIN IS A PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME ENGINE! I HAVE HAD MORE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE THAN ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. I ONCE LOVED THIS VEHICLE AND THOUGHT GM WOULD TAKE CARE OF KNOWN PROBLEMS, NOW I KNOW THAT I AM WRONG. I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER GM VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000.

THE TECHNICIAN DID NOT LOCATE ANY DIAGNOSTIC CODES AND THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AT SLOW SPEED ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING GET SO STIFF YOU NEED TWO HAND TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. MOST TIME NOTICE THE PROBLEM AT 5-10 MPH. TURNING BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT INTO A PARKING SPACE OR FROM A STOP TO TURN ONTO A STREET.
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY DIM HEAD LIGHTS 3 TIMES IN A YEAR AND A HALF. FIRST THE PASSENGER SIDE GOES THEN WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE DRIVERS SIDE BLOWS. I ONLY NOTICE WHEN IT HAPPENS AT NIGHT SO NOT SURE EXACTLY WHEN THEY BURN OUT BUT ALWAYS ONE AND THEN THE OTHER LESS THAN A WEEK APART. I BUY PREMIUM BULBS SO I KNOW IT IS NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE BULB MANUFACTURER..
TRANSMISSION GETS STUCK AFTER ABOUT 3RD GEAR AND DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT CAUSING VEHICLE TO JERK VIOLENTLY AND DRIVER IS NOT ABLE TO CONTROL THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME, HAPPENS ONCE IN A WHILE OUT THE BLUE WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREETS OR HIGHWAYS. ALSO HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING ON OTHER VEHICLES SAME MAKE AND MODEL. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS FOR FUTURE PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE. THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE TIMING CHAIN HAD STRETCHED AND IF LEFT UNREPAIRED COULD LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE ENGINE. THE REPAIR COST IS $3500. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 67000 MILES ON IT, AND HAS ALWAYS HAD ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES CONDUCTED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT 2007-2009 MODELS OF THE SAME ENGINE ON SIMILAR MODELS HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. ADDITIONALLY, A SIMPLE GOOGLE SEARCH REVEALS MANY FORUMS THAT HAVE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THEIR 2010 MODELS. IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED IN THE 2010 MODEL YEAR, OR AT LEAST NOT IN CERTAIN RUN OF THE ENGINE. WHETHER THE SAME BAD CHAIN WAS USED IN 2010 ENGINES OR THE PROBLEM THAT WAS DISCOVERED IN THE 2007-2009 MODEL YEARS, WAS NOT DISCOVERED UNTIL AFTER THE 2010 MODELS WERE BUILT, AND THEY WERE JUST NOT INCLUDED IN THE SERVICE BULLETIN IS THE QUESTION. BECAUSE A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE WITH ONLY 67000 MILES TO HAVE A BAD TIMING CHAIN IS RARE, AS MANY DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS HAVE CONFIRMED. THOSE SAME SHOPS ALSO CONFIRMED THEY HAVE SEEN MANY OF THE TRAVERSE. ACADIA, AND ENCLAVE MODELS WITH THE SAME TIMING CHAIN ISSUE.
AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS NOTICED WHINING NOISE AND HARD TO TURN. AFTER INSPECTION BY AUTO SHOP THEY STATED THE SUV HAD A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING RACK AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAS LESS THEN 55,000 MILES WITH NO OTHER ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT'S MOTHER OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S MOTHER WAS DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY LOOSE AND THE VEHICLE MADE A SQUEALING SOUND. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
OUR 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE WILL LOSE POWER STEERING WHEN MAKING HARD TURNS AND/OR TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION NEARLY EVERY TIME WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WE HAVE LOST ALL POWER STEERING WHEN TURNING EVEN ON FIVE LANE HIGHWAYS, CROSSING VERY BUSY HIGHWAYS. WE HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH A VEHICLE BEFORE THIS ONE. WE ARE REPORTING IT TODAY, BUT WE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING SEVERAL TIMES WITH OUR TRAVERSE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND GENERAL MOTORS NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED TODAY 04/21/2017 AND I NOTICED THAT IT IS ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING ITSELF. WHEN I TOLD THE DEALER THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE I DROVE IT JUST 3 HOURS IT IS MY OWN PROBLEM TO OWN. NOW AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AS IT MAY GO OVER THE UNCONTROLLABLE SPEED OR STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY CAUSING DISASTERS.
TIMING CHAIN IS BAD IN 2010 TRAVERSE WITH APPROXIMATELY 99000 MILES. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS YEA. GM ISSUES A RECALL FOR.2009 BUT NONE.FOR.2010. SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE IS DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH IN AN ABOVE GROUND PARKING FACILITY, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SEIZED. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CRASHED THROUGH THE GATE OF THE PARKING FACILITY AND ALSO CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. AT 88,000 MILE I HAVE RECIEVED A P0008 CODE - TIMING CHAINS. THIS IS ODD TO HAVE STRETCHED TIMING CHAINS AT THIS MILEAGE. REVIEWING SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 3.6 L ENGINES MADE BEFORE 2011. I CONTACT GM WITH NO AVAIL. I HAVE 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THIS CAR GOT A PROBLEM WITH ENGINE. TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED OUT AND ENGINE RUNS ROUGH WITH MULTIPLE MISFIRES AND NOISE. I TOOK THIS CAR TO DIAGNOSTIC AND DEALER DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRM EXISTING PROBLEM WITH TIMING CHAIN. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION AND RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT GMC EXTENDED A WARRANTY TILL 10 YEARS/120000 MI FOR 2009 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. BUT THEY SAID THAT MY CAR DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL BECAUSE IT'S BEEN MADE FROM DIFFERENT PARTS. THIS IS NOT FAIR AND NOT RIGHT. IT DOESN'T MATTER FROM WHAT PARTS WAS MADE ENGINE IN MY CAR. THE FACT IS THAT MY CAR HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS 2009 CHEVY TRAVERSE WHAT QUALIFY FOR EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE ISSUE WITH TIMING CHAIN WAS NEVER FIXED ON 2010 MODEL YEAR AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I KNOW THAT I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO GOT THIS KIND OF SITUATION. SOON AFTER PURCHASING MY 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE IN JANUARY OF 2017, I BROUGHT IT TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST TO HAVE IT SERVICED. THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS ABOUT TO FAIL AND IT NEEDED MAJOR WORK. I CONTACTED A LOCAL GM DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS AND TO SEE IF I SHOULD HAVE IT SERVICED BY GM STAFF. THEY SAID THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND I SHOULD HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, BUFFOMATIC TRANSMISSION SERVICE, DO THE WORK. I DID SO AND BUFFOMATIC FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED CAUSING OTHER COMPONENTS TO ALSO FAIL COSTING ME $4860.00. I DID SOME RESEARCH, WHICH WAS CONFIRMED BY BUFFOMATIC, THAT THIS WAVE PLATE PROBLEM IS COMMON IN GM TRANSMISSIONS AND A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON OTHER GM MODELS BUT NOT THE TRAVERSE. I SENT REQUESTS TO BOTH THE DEALER AND GM DIRECTLY THAT THIS RECALL BE EXTENDED TO MY TRAVERSE. BOTH DENIED MY REQUEST. I AM THEREFORE APPEALING TO NHTSA THAT GM BE REQUIRED TO HONOR THE WAVE PLATE RECALL AND REFUND ME THE $4860.00 I PAID FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRS. THANK YOU.
I WAS INFORMED THAT MY STEERING SYSTEM IS FAILING IN MULTIPLE PARTS. THIS WAS NO SURPRISE TO THE MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN THESE VEHICLES. NOT ONLY IS THIS A COSTLY REPAIR BUT IT CAN ALSO BECOME A HAZARDOUS CONDITION DUE TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING.
THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OUT INTERMEDIATELY WHILE DRIVING ON TURNS. THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I PURCHASED THE VECHILE BUT PUT TODAY'S DATE AS THE DATE OF ISSUE.

TIMING CHAIN IS OUT OF SYNC. MECHANIC STATES THAT ERROR CODES ARE CAUSING THE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE THAT ARE BASED AROUND SKIPPING/SLIPPING TIMING CHAIN. STATES THAT TIMING CHAIN MUST BE REPAIRED. IF TIMING CHAIN FAILS TO WORK CORRECTLY, ENGINE COULD SEIZE CAUSE THE VEHICLE FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY.
THERE IS A STEERING WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE FOR DEFAULT IN STEERING UP TO 150,000 MILES. I'VE OWNED MY CAR LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT WASN'T UNTIL IT BROKE AND I WENT THROUGH THE PROCESS OF GETTING IT FIXED THAT I BECAME AWARE OF THE WARRANTY. I'M NOW 6000 MILES OVER AND HAVE NO VEHICLE. I REALIZE I'M OVER THE MILEAGE A LITTLE BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WASN'T A FULL RECALL FOR SAFETY REASONS IN THE FIRST PLACE!HOWEVER I FEEL CHEVROLET SHOULD HELP COVER A DECENT PORTION OF THE REPAIR. IS THERE ANYTHING THING YOU CAN DO TO HELP. IT'S A VERY EXPENSIVE PROCESS. AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR EVERYONE ON THE ROAD. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THE CODE WAS INDICATING THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES AND HAS HAD EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE. THIS PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED WITH 2009 TRAVERSES AND GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THOSE MODELS TO 120,000MILES/10 YEARS AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR. WHEN CALLING GM ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE 2010, WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. THE DEALER TOLD US IT WOULD COST US 3,200 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED ON VARIOUS SITES BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. WE WERE TOLD IF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED IT COULD CAUSE EXTREME ENGINE DAMAGE WHEN IT BREAKS. GM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS A RESULT.
I BOUGHT THIS TRAVERSE USED WITH ONLY 7,000 MILES. AFTER ABOUT A YEAR, THE RADIO AND SCREEN WOULD NOT TURN OFF AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND OPENING THE DOOR. IT WOULD REMAIN ON EVEN AFTER TURNING THE IGNITION ON AND OFF OR OPENING THE DRIVERS DOOR SEVERAL TIMES. THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW DOES NOT GO DOWN USING THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROLS, DESPITE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT. I HAVE LEARNED TO LIVE WITH THE ISSUES WHEN RECENTLY ADDITION PROBLEMS HAVE APPEARED. FOR SOME REASON IT FEELS LIKE I AM DRIVING WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED OR PULLING A HEAVY TRAILER. MOST OF THE TIME I HAVE TO PRESS HARDER ON THE GAS JUST TO MAKE THE VEHICLE GO. AS A RESULT, THE GAS MILEAGE HAS DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY. ALSO, SUDDENLY THE AIR CONDITIONER FOR THE DRIVER BLOWS ONLY WARM AIR WHILE ALL THE OTHER VENTS BLOW COLD. THERE IS A CONSTANT CLICKING SOUND BEHIND THE DASH AND I AM ABOUT TO REPLACE A SECOND ACTUATOR. FINALLY, THERE IS A LOUD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE LIKE IT IS STILL RUNNING AFTER IT IS TURNED OFF AND THE KEY IS OUT OF THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO TURN THE IGNITION ON AND OFF AGAIN FOR IT TO STOP. EVEN THEN, THE ENGINE FAN REMAINS ON, WHICH IT NEVER DID BEFORE. ALL THESE STARTED JUST AS IT WAS ABOUT TO HIT 80,000 MILES.
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DIVING AT CITY SPEEDS, TOOK IT TO STEWART CHEVROLET AND THE SAID IT WAS THE P0008 AND P0017 TIMING CHAIN AND CRANK CAMSHAFT. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME THAT THIS IS OCCURRING . 1ST WAS AT 60,929K AND SECOND WAS AT 81,781K THEY WANT BETWEEN $3,000 TO $9,000 TO REPAIR AND NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WON'T OCCUR AT NEXT 20K, GM ARE NOT STANDING BY THERE PRODUCT NOR IS STEWARD.
WHEN YOU TURN A CORNER, PARK IN A PARKING SPOT, BACK UP THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. ANYTIME YOU TURN THE WHEEL THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. IT WILL COST OVER $2,000.00 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE LOSE POWER STEERING WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL. I DO NOT BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.
COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE OF MY 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE AT 111,556 MILES. NEW ENGINE INSTALLED BY THE DEALER AT COST OF $7560.00. NO FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BY GM DESPITE REPEATED REQUESTS.
