I GOT A CARD IN MAIL FROM CHEVY STATING IF I WAS HAVING THROTTLE ISSUES TO TAKE IT AND A DEALERSHIP WOULD FIX IT. WE HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON A WEEK OR LESS THAN THAT BEFORE WE GOT THE CARD. THE CAR WAS HAVING ISSUES GONG OR BEING SLUGGISH. WE TAKE IT IN AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT BUT WITHIN A DAY WE HAD THE ENGINE COME ON AND IT CONTINUED THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY TRIED TO BLAME THE THROTTLE BODY BUT NOW SAY ITS THE TIMEING CHAINS AND IT WILL BE 1600+ JUST FOR LABOR. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM WE HAD BEFORE AND NOW THEY SAY WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN WE WERE THERE FOR THE FIRST TIME IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN WARRANTY UNTIL 98000 AND WE HAVE 96000 ON IT.
WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR STEERING RELATED ISSUES 4 TIMES. AT LOW SPEEDS THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING, MAKING IT HARD TO MAKE THE SLIGHTEST TURN. MORE THAN ONCE WE HAVE ALMOST BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC AT THE END OF OUR DRIVEWAY BECAUSE WE COULDN'T TURN SHARP ENOUGH. AT FIRST THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS PART OF A RECALL, BUT AFTER FIXING IT 3 TIMES THEY DECIDED THE PROBLEM WASN'T PART OF THE RECALL AND CHARGED US $1400. ONE WEEK LATER AND THE CAR WAS DOING THE SAME THING. WE ARE TAKING THE VEHICLE IN AGAIN. I HAVE FILED AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT WITH CHEVY, WE'LL SEE IF THAT DOES ANY GOOD.
AT APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND AFTER IT WAS EVALUATED AT THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP I WAS NOTIFIED THE TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT AND I HAD A GMPP EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE TIMING CHAIN. 6,000 MILES LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED BY FLASHING REPEATEDLY AND THE ENGINE SEIZED AND THE DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED AND STATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER DISINTEGRATED AND PIECES OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS SUCKED INTO THE ENGINE. THEY STATED THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THEY CLAIMED TO CONTACT GM AND GM SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT IT WAS NOT CONSIDERED A RECALL. GM OFFERED TO PAY FOR $8,000 OF THE $10,000 TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT. I WAS ONLY OFFERED A 12,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR THE NEW ENGINE. NOW WITH 50,000 MILES ON THE NEW ENGINE THE TIMING CHAIN HAS GONE OUT ONCE AGAIN. I DO NOT BELIEVE THE ISSUE WITH TIMING CHAINS WAS RESOLVED IN 2010 WITH THE NEW ECM; THIS ISSUE CONTINUES AS NOTED AND SEEN WITH SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE.
THE STABILITY/TRACK LIGHT TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM A MEETING. THE AIRBAG SERVICE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF TOO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HAVING THE VEHICLE CHECKED FOR A ROUTINE INSPECTION WITH A CERTIFIED MECHANIC, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CERTIFIED MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,360. UPDATED 05/20/16*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER A PRORATED WARRANTY, AS THE MILEAGE WAS UNDER 100,000. UPDATED 05/24/16.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE MAKING A TURN AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL TO PROVIDE A SOLUTION. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 169,325.
PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT GO DOWN FROM DRIVER SIDE. DRIVER SIDE TRIES NOT TO GO DOWN. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT DAYS APART. PASSENGER HEAT DOES NOT WORK WHILE DRIVER AND BACK HEAT WORKS. TIRE GAGE SAYS REAR TIRE PRESSURE LOW WHEN IT MEANS THE FRONT. WHEN AIR IS ADDED THE NEXT DAY IT SAYS TIRE PRESSURE LOW AGAIN. POWER LIFT GATE FALLING. THESE THINGS HAPPEN WHILE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
THE CURRENT MILEAGE ON MY 2010 TRAVERSE IS 74K... DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 60MPH ALL OF A SUDDEN THE TRACTION STABILIZER CONTROL/ABS LIGHTS COME ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE CAR STARTED DECELERATING, DOWN TO 45 MPH AND MORE. WHILE THE GAS PETAL WAS BEING PRESSED NO ACCELERATION WOULD HAPPEN. WENT TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO GET OUT OF HARMS WAY, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ACCELERATION CAME BACK. THE REMAINDER OF MY DRIVE THE TRACTION STABLIZER CONTROL/ABS STAYED ON WITH NO OTHER ACCELERATION PROBLEMS, UNTIL I ARRIVED TO WORK. WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO IN REVERSE, WHILE GIVING IT GAS IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GO FORWARD. PUT IN PARK, WAITING, THEN TRIED IT AGAIN. THE TRACTION STABILIZER CONTROL/ABS LIGHTS WENT OFF AND I WAS ABLE TO REVERSE JUST FINE. OVER THE PAS FEW MONTHS THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED ONLY WITH THE TRACTION STABILIZER/ABS LIGHT INDICATORS NO OTHER PROBLEMS. WE HAD TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIND NO CODES. COULD IT BE THE SENSOR OR NOW COULD IT BE THE THROTTLE BODY??
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 25 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED BEFORE OPERATING PROPERLY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
WHEN THE CAR IS ON AND YOU PUT IT IN PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND TAKE THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING AND NO KEY IS IN THE IGNITION! ALSO, WHEN RUNNING AND THE CAR IS PUT INTO GEAR IT CUTS OFF AND DIES...POSSIBLE IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEM, BATTERY, ALTERNATOR? CAR IS STATIONARY WHEN ALL OF THIS HAPPENS. EITHER IN A DRIVEWAY OR PARKING SPOT. CAR HAD TO BE JUMPED SEVERAL TIMES, ONCE RUNNING PUT IT INTO GEAR AND IT CUTS OFF OR YOU PUT IT IN PARK TO TURN IT OFF AND IT LETS THE KEY BE TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION BUT THE ENGINE KEEPS RUNNING. CURRENTLY AT WEBER CHEVROLET CREVE COEUR IN ST. LOUIS MO
WHILE DRIVING OUR VEHICLE SOME SENSORS STARTING TO GO OFF AND WE STARTED LOSING POWER TO THE VEHICLE WHICH IN TURN CAUSED A HUGE AND VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. THE TRAVERSE WE WERE DRIVING SHOWED A TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK SIGNAL. IT BEGAN TO LOSE POWER AND SLOW DOWN. IF WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY WE WOULD HAVE WRECKED, LUCKILY WE WERE NOT. I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE ON MANY OTHER TRAVERSE'S AS WELL AS MANY OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN THE CHEVROLET LINEUP, YET THERE IS STILL NO RECALL. I AM NOT SURE WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE OR IF SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO HURT BEFORE A RECALL IS MADE, BUT SOMEONE NEED TO MAKE THE RIGHT CALL BEFORE ANYONE GETS HURT WITH THIS ISSUE. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID IT IS A KNOW ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR IT, WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO MAKE THIS RECALL HAPPEN, DOES SOMEONE NEED TO SERIOUSLY GET HURT? IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THERE ARE NO FIXES FOR THIS ISSUE AND IT IS JUST COSTING OWNERS, MORE AND MORE MONEY TO GET REPAIRS THEY DON'T REALLY NEED. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?
I PURCHASED A 2010 TRAVERSE FROM MOLLE CHEVY IN BLUE SPRINGS 3 YEARS AGO. WE HAVE 61,000 MILES AND WERE SENT LETTERS TO GO HAVE MORE RECALLS AND "SPECIAL ADJUSTMENTS" DONE. (CHEVY'S WAY OF MORE RECALLS WITHOUT CALLING THEM THAT) BESIDES MANY OTHER CODES, THIS WEEKS P0008 CODE IS A KNOWN TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. SINCE WE TOOK IT IN AND IT WASN'T ONE OF THE SPECIAL ADJUSTMENTS, THEY MADE US PAY FOR THE $90 DIAGNOSTIC, WOULDN'T GIVE ME THE CAR UNTIL I PAID. OFFERED FOR "US" TO PAY AND FIX THE PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD SPLIT THE COST WITH US, WENT FROM $2,700 TO $863, WHAT A DEAL! IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT! WHY SHOULD WE PAY A $1, WE ALREADY PAID FOR THE VEHICLE??? AFTER HOLDING ARE CAR HOSTAGE FOR THE $90 AND OFFERING FOR US TO PAY FOR GM'S FIX, WE HAVE DECIDED TO CHECK ALL REACALL'S AND BUY USED WITH THE LEAST AMOUNT. I REALLY HOPE THE PEOPLE GET A DOSE OF WHAT THEY GIVE IN LIFE. THEY HAVE THESE PEOPLE TRAINED TO SELL A LINE OF CRAP ALL THE WAY FROM PURCHASE TO END OF LIFE ON THE VEHICLE. I KNOW THEY ARE A NECESSARY EVIL, BUT BUYERS BEWARE, CARS ARE THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY, STRESS, AND TIME. THEY DON'T PAY FOR ALL YOUR TIME FOR THE RECALLS,WHY? BUY A CHEAPER USED CAR AND CHECK THE RECALLS BEFORE YOU DO. DON'T BUY NEW, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEM YET. NO ONE LOOKS COOL IN AN COSTLY CAR WITH A TON OF ISSUES. LIFE'S TO SHORT. I WOULD SAY DON'T GO TO CHEVY BUT THEY ARE ALL SIMILAR TO A POINT. GOOD LUCK, MY TRAVERSE IS BEING SOLD THIS WEEK. SORRY TO WHOEVER BUYS IT FROM CARMAX. ALWAYS RESEARCH!!!!! ALWAYS BUY AT LEAST A YEAR OLD, GIVES TIME TO FIND ISSUES, 2 IS BETTER.
WHILE DRIVING AT A LOWER SPEED AND USUALLY WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE, MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND DOES NOT TURN. THIS HAPPENS WHILE TURNING BOTH DIRECTIONS, LEFT AND RIGHT. I LITERALLY HAVE TO PLAN MY TRIP TO MY DESTINATION ACCORDING TO MY STEERING WHEEL. I CAN NOT PARK BETWEEN CARS IN A PARKING LOT. I NO LONGER ALLOW TO MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE ME CAR DUE TO THE STEERING PROBLEM. I THEN BEGAN READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVROLET CUSTOMER, ALONG WITH MY PARENTS. CHEVROLET SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL MONTHS AGO ACCORDING TO ALL DOCUMENTED PROBLEMS. I ALSO READ THERE IS A COURT CASE ON THIS ISSUE. I WILL NEED TO GET MY STEERING FIXED AS I NO LONGER TRUST MY CAR DRIVING AND PARKING. I WAS HOPING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS STEERING ISSUE.
MY TRAVERSE JUST PULLED A P0008 AND P0017 ENGINE CODE. AFTER BRINGING IT TO THE MECHANIC, I HAD AN OIL FLUSH AND INDUCTION SYSTEM CLEANING. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE P0008 CODE WHEN OFF AGAIN. THIS IS SPECIFIC FOR THE TIMING CHAIN AND CYLINDER HEADS. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL AND WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 08-09 CHEVY TRAVERSES HOWEVER THAT HAS NOT TRANSFERRED OVER TO MY PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR. MY VEHICLE IS 1 YEAR OUT OF WARRANTY WITH ONLY 63,000 MILES ON IT. MY REPAIRS ARE TO BE AN ESTIMATED $4,000 - $6,300 BUT AM BEING OFFERED A 50/50 SPLIT THAT I FEEL IS STILL UNACCEPTABLE ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 63,000 MILES.
2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING THE THE VEHICLE ITS NOT CHANGING GEARS AT TIMES AND IT SLIPS. AT TIMES WHEN IT DOES NOT SLIPS, IT STARTS TO MAKE A LOUD MUFFLER SOUND WHILE DRIVING AND MY FOOT IS ON THE GAS AND ITS LIKE FORCING THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. IN ORDER TO STOP THE SOUND AND SLIP, I SOMETIME HAVE TO PLACE CAR ON PARK AND THEN PUT ON DRIVE TO RE ADJUST. SOMETIMES IT WORKS AND SOMETIME IT DOES NOT. TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND STATE THAT THERE WERE ALOT OF CODES FOR THE TRANSMISSION WHICH IS UNUSUAL FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT NEW(FOR A 2010). I THEN CONTACTED A CHEVY DEALER WHO STATE THAT THERE IS NO COMPLAINT REGARDING TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. PLEASE HELP AS I HAVE TWO YOUNG CHILDREN THAT IS ON THE VEHICLE WITH ME ON A DAILY BASIS. THIS ISSUE SOMETIMES HAPPEN AND SOME TIME IT DOES NOT. THE STEERING WHEEL OF THE VEHICLE ALSO MAKES A SOUND WHEN TURNING. THE AC BLOWS, BUT THE FROM VENT ONLY BLOW AIR FROM THE BOTTOM AND NOT THROUGH THE VENTS. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS PART OF THE ISSUE OR A DIFFERENT ISSUE.
AT SLOW SPEEDS IT BECOMES HARD TO STEER , AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DROVE ABNORMALLY ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 118,000.
I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE GM DEALERSHIP FOR AN UNRELATED PROBLEM AND THE TECHNICIAN "DISCOVERED" A FAULTY/LEAKING STEERING GEAR BOX....TOTALLY REPLACED AT A COST OF $1386. NOW, FOLLOWING ONLINE RESEARCH, I REALIZE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND GM WOULD APPEAR TO BE CIRCUMVENTING REPORTING AND A RECALL BY HAVING INDIVIDUALS "PAY FOR THE FIX".....I WANT TO DOCUMENT THIS COMPLAINT AND MY PERSONAL ENCUMBERANCE OF THE REPAIR COSTS....THE DISCUSSION ONLINE POINTS TO A COMMON AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT WE HAD NOT "YET" EXPERIENCED, BUT ACCORDING TO THE TECHNICIAN, MAY HAVE HAD A DANGEROUS ENCOUNTER AT ANY TIME!
ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH; VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALERSHIP, BURLINGTON CHEVROLET, RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THERE WERE SOME FAILED CODES (P0011 AND P008), ALL RELATED TO THE CAMSHAFT AND TIMING CHAINS. TO REPAIR, IT WOULD COST ABOUT $2,700 SINCE I WAS SIX MONTHS OVER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THEY CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST ME $681 PLUS TAX. I AGREED TO HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED WHICH ALSO INCLUDED REPLACING THE WATERPUMP WHICH WAS LEAKING. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS ON HAVE OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY ON 2007-2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE, SATURN OUTLOOK, GMC ACADIA, AND BUICK ENCLAVE. ALL OF THESE SUV'S HAVE THE 3.6 LITER V6 ENGINE WITH DUAL OVERHEAD CAMS. WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THESE VEHICLES IS THAT THE TIMING CHAINS ARE STRETCHING WHICH LEADS TO CORRELATION ERRORS WITH THE CAM SENSORS AND ACTUATORS. AFTER 2010, GENERAL MOTORS HAS SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH UPDATED CHAINS AND ECM CALIBRATIONS.

IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,827.
I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY GOING 70MPH. TRACTION CONTROL/STABILITRAK OFF CAME ON DASH ALONG WITH PARK ASSIST OFF. I FELT THE ENGINE LOSE POWER AND SPEED DROPPED TO 25MPH. I HAS TO SWERVE AND MISS SEVERAL CARS FROM HITTING ME DUE TO THIS REDUCE SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY. PRESSED ON THE PEDDLE TO SPEED UP AND THE ENGINE WOULD NOT GO PAST 1ST GEAR ( WELL AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT IT FELT LIKE) I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME. TO AFRAID TO DRIVE. TOOK IT TO OUR SHOP AND NOTHING WAS REGISTERED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC CODE. CAR SEEMS FINE NOW, JUST AFRAID TO DRIVE. IS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS?
STABILITRAK/TRACTION CONTROL/REDUCE ENGINE POWER. WHILE DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 75 NORTH IN TN ON NOVEMBER 28, 2015 AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30PM WITH MY HUSBAND, 6 YEAR OLD, AND 3 YEAR OLD; MY 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE SUDDENLY DINGED AND THEN THE FLASHED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES ON MY DISPLAY: STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL, REDUCE ENGINE POWER. THIS RESULTED IN A RAPID DECELERATION FROM ABOUT 75MPH TO ABOUT 25MPH. WE NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING HIT BY A SEMI-TRUCK BEHIND US, AS THE CAR RAPIDLY SLOWS WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS NOTIFYING OTHER DRIVERS. THANKFULLY, THE SEMI WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY SWERVE INTO THE LEFT LANE TO AVOID HITTING US. WE PULLED OVER AND SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. WHEN WE TURNED IT BACK ON, THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE OFF AND THE CAR RAN NORMALLY. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, WHICH APPEARS TO BE QUITE COMMON IN NUMEROUS GM VEHICLES. I'M ALARMED THAT NHTSA HASN'T REQUIRED A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, WHICH LOOKS TO BE RELATED TO A THROTTLE-BODY PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A SERVICE ALERT FROM GM FOR THIS ISSUE, SO IT APPEARS THAT THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE WITH 67,000 MILES ON IT. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND DETECTS TIMING CHAINS. TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND $3200 LATER HAD NEW TIMING CHAINS PUT ON. THERE IS NO WAY WITH THAT AMOUNT OF MILEAGE THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED YET. WHEN IS THIS RECALL GOING TO TAKE EFFECT!!!! ON TOP OF THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN MARCH, SO NO HELP WHAT SO EVER..... GM NEEDS TO STEP UP.
MY CAR COULD HAVE GOTTEN ME KILLED. I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK,STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I MASHED THE GAS TO GO IT SAID STABILITY TRACK OFF ,MOTOR REDUCED. MY TRAVERSE JUST PULLED A P0008 AND P0017 ENGINE CODE. AFTER BRINGING IT TO THE MECHANIC, I HAD AN OIL FLUSH AND INDUCTION SYSTEM CLEANING. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE P0008 CODE WHEN OFF AGAIN. THIS IS SPECIFIC FOR THE TIMING CHAIN WHICH IS DIRECTLY AFFECTING THE CAM AND CRANK POSITIONING (CREATING SLUGGISH PERFORMANCE AND POOR FUEL ECONOMY) APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL AND WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 08-09 CHEVY TRAVERSES HOWEVER THAT HAS NOT TRANSFERRED OVER TO MY PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR, WHICH WAS BUILT IN 09 BUT SOLD AS AN 2010. CAR STALLED OUT 1 MONTH PRIOR TO THIS PARTICULAR INCIDENT IN THE MIDDLE OF A RESIDENTIAL INTERSECTION. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON EITHER. TOOK THE CAR INTO GOODYEAR FOR A CHECK AND NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THEIR COMPUTER, CAR WAS DRIVEN FOR 20 MIN WITHOUT INCIDENT EITHER. WAS ADVISED TO TRY AND USE A FUEL INJECTION FLUSH. GASOLINE COULD BE SMELLED INSIDE THE CAR AFTER THE STALLING INCIDENT. 9/13/15: WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN DRAMATICALLY. STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE STARTED TO SEEP INTO THE CAR. CAR FINALLY STALLED OUT AS WE APPROACHED THE SHOULDER LANE. THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS VERY STRONG AT THIS POINT, INSIDE AND OUTSIDE. CAR WAS TOWED TO GOODYEAR. HOOKED UP CAR TO THE COMPUTER AND THERE WERE 6 THINGS WRONG WITH THE CAR. WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT INTO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2010. OWNER OF GOODYEAR STORE ALSO INFORMED US THAT PRIOR TO OUR CAR COMING IN, 3 CARS OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR CAME IN THIS PAST YEAR FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ADVISED ALL OF THE OTHER 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE OWNERS TO GO BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. BROUGHT IN THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP. UPON STARTING UP MY CAR, THE ENTIRE SERVICE AREA STARTED TO SMELL OF GASOLINE. CAR WAS HOOKED UP TO THE COMPUTER AND I WAS THEN TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $2200 TO FIX THE "MULTIPLE PROBLEMS". THE 5 OUT OF 6 FUEL INJECTORS WERE MISFIRING. FUEL PUMP, INJECTORS, SPARK PLUGS, AND MORE NEED TO BE REPLACED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NEVER TURNED ON ONCE SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2010, UNTIL THE INCIDENT ON 9/13/15 ON THE FREEWAY. MY WARRANTY JUST RAN OUT IN MAY OF THIS YEAR, WITHOUT INCIDENT! NOW THAT MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, THIS HAPPENS!
TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT FLASHED ON AND OFF SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN IT WAS ON THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT. TRIED TO PASS A SLOW MOVING TRUCK. ENGINE RPMS WHEN UP BUT VEHICLE DID NOT ACCELERATE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HAD MECHANIC CHECK CODE AND THE FOLLOWING CODES SHOW UP U0121, U0073 AND U0121 HE STATED A PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE #14515B HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. CONTACTED A CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NOT A RECALL ISSUE.

I HAVE HAD THE POWER TRAIN REPAIRED TWICE, ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEN AT COST. I HAVE PAID MORE THAN $2K ON THE REPAIR AND YET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND A CHECK OF THE ERROR CODES REVEALS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED EMISSIONS TESTING AS A RESULT OF THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THERE'S DEFINITELY A DEFECT WITHIN THIS MODEL YEAR'S ENGINE SYSTEM INVOLVING THE POWER TRAIN. I AM REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL. I CAN'T PUT OUT MORE MONEY TO FIX A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM THAT WILL NEVER BE FIXED. THE CAR SHAKES AS IF IT'S IDLE WHEN DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS OFF AND ON PROFUSELY. NOW TODAY I WAS DRIVING MY CAT TO THE VET WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN HERE WE GO AGAIN THE SAME PROBLEM AS LAST MONTH. I WENT FROM 45 MPH DOWN TO DROPPING DOWN TO 15 MPH AT RANDOM IS NOT SAFE AND VERY DANGEROUS CONSIDERING YOU CANT JUST OVER LANES IF YOU ARE IN TRAFFIC WHEN I TOPPED FOR GAS I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF AND WAIT THEN RESTART AS MANUAL SUGGESTS BUT IT DIDN'T HELP, THE MESSAGE REAPPEARED. ONCE THE CAR FINALLY STARTED I WENT STRAIGHT TO WALDORF CHEVY DEALER. I TOOK IT IN TO SEE WHAT CODES AND EVERYTHING POINTED TO NEEDING A COMPUTER BOARD WHICH ENDED UP COSTING $1009.00 CHEVY DEALERSHIP SAID "PROBABLY JUST FLUKE, HOPEFULLY WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN"! NOT A GOOD ANSWER FOR ME BECAUSE I DRIVE AROUND AND MY HUSBAND DEPLOYED TO AFGHANISTAN I DON'T NEED ISSUES WITH MY ONLY CAR. THIS SHOULD BE A COVERED REPAIR. I CALLED BOTH CHEVY AND GM AND HAVE TO SAY I WAS HAPPY WITH THE CUSTOMER SERVICE I RECEIVED. I WANT TO KNOW WHY GM KNOWS THIS IS A REOCCURRING ISSUE IN THE TRAVERSE AND HAVE NOT NOTIFIED OWNERS AND SENT OUT A FACTORY RECALL. TIMING CHAIN IS STRETCHED AFTER 102,000 MILES; REPAIR IS $2500; GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM ON 2007 TO 2009; THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS FOR 2010 BUT GM HAS NOT EXTENDED THE WARRANTY; OIL WAS CHANGED REGULARLY; TIMING CHAIN SHOULD NOT GO AFTER 5 YRS, 100K MILES. GM MUST EXTEND WARRANTY FOR THIS MODEL YEAR DUE TO THIS ONGOING DESIGN FLAW.

I AM WRITING YOU THIS LETTER TO FILE AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AGAINST GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING MY 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE. ON AUGUST 6TH 2015, WHILE DRIVING MY CAR 55MPH, THE ENGINE SEIZED CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND POWER BREAKS. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THIS PUT MY FAMILY IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. OUR LICENSED MECHANIC TOLD US THE REASON THE ENGINE SEIZED IS A 'SPUN ROD BARRING.' WE WERE TOLD THAT A SPUN ROD BARRING IS A VERY UNCOMMON MECHANICAL ISSUE AND EXTREMELY UNCOMMON IN A CAR THAT IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD WITH ONLY 71K MILES ON IT. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS WHILE THE CAR WAS BEING REPAIRED TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM. THEY WERE QUITE RUDE AND REFUSED TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE MY CAR TO A CERTIFIED GM REPAIR SHOP. THEREFORE, I DECIDED TO SEND GM A LETTER EXPLAINING THE SITUATION. ATTACHED IS A COPY OF THE LETTER, MAINTENANCE RECORDS, AND PHOTOS OF THE SPUN ROD BARRING I SENT TO GM. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE CALLED ME ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND VERBALLY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME OR EVEN LOOK INTO THE ISSUE BECAUSE 'I DID NOT TAKE MY CAR TO A CERTIFIED GM REPAIR SHOP FOR THE REPAIR.' I ASKED CUSTOMER SERVICE MULTIPLE TIMES TO SEND ME THIS INFORMATION IN WRITING AND THEY REFUSED. TO REFUSE STANDARD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AVOID TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR A POORLY ENGINEERED AND MANUFACTURED ENGINE SIMPLY BECAUSE I DID NOT TAKE MY CAR TO A CERTIFIED GM REPAIR SHOP IS INEXCUSABLE. NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE THEY CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND CALLED ME AROUND 12:00 PM AND SAID YOU COMPUTER BOARD NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IS COMPLETELY SHOT. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN MAKING A HIGH PITCHED SQUEAKING NOISE FOR ABOUT A WEEK BUT ONLY WHEN I SLOWED TO A STOP AND BEGAN TO SPEED UP. TODAY AS I SLOWED TO MAKE A TURN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. BECAUSE I WAS ABOUT THIRTY MILES FROM HOME I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT HOME. WHEN I WAS ON MAIN ROADS GOING ABOUT 55MPH, THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE GOING AWAY, BUT EACH TIME I SLOWED TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT FOR CHEVY TRAVERSE OWNERS AND THAT THEY ALL SEEM TO BE OCCURRING AROUND 70,000 MILES. WITH ALL THE CONTROVERSY OVER THE MILLIONS OF GM VEHICLES RECALLED FOR POWER STEERING PROBLEMS RESULTING IN ACCIDENTS I AM VERY UPSET THAT THESE VEHICLES WERE NOT AMONG THEM.
I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING PLACE WHEN THE CAR JUST WOULD NOT TURN. THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR ALREADY PARKED AND THE GENTLEMAN GETTING OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. I PROFUSELY APOLOGIZED AND BACKED THE CAR OUT OF THE GENERAL AREA. WHEN THE CAR OPERATED AT THE SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. WHEN I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET, I SAW THE MANY PEOPLE WHO WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME HAZARD. I WAS TOLD THAT CHEVROLET WAS NOT COVEING THE COST OF THE POWER STEERING PUMP OR THE RACK AND PINION EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF TRAVESE OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM . THIS IS TRUELY A SAFETY ISSUE , NOT KNOWING WHEN YOU COULD LOSE THE ABILITY TO STEER .!!!! AND IN MY CASE AT ANY SPEED.
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STEER/TURN AT LOW LEVEL OF SPEEDS USUALLY LESS THAN 5MPH THE STEERING IS VERY STIFF AND REQUIRES A LOT OF EFFORT TO TURN THE VEHICLE. I ALSO RECENTLY FELT MY STEERING LOCK UP WHILE MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY GOING AT A RATE OF 50-60 MPH.
CAR WAS PARKED AND RUNNING, TURNED OFF THE KEY AND PULLED IT OUT OF IGNITION AND THE CAR STAYED RUNNING. HAD TO PUT KEY BACK IN AND TURN 'ON', THEN TURNED OFF AND IT TURNED OFF THE WAY IT SHOULD. CONCERNED HOW THIS WILL AFFECT MY STEERING/ELECTRICAL/BRAKES/ AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT THE IGNITION AFFECTS.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND POWERED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON. THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STABILITY TRACTION SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHEN MAKING LEFT OR RIGHT TURNS THE STEERING WHEEL WILL STIFFEN MAKING COMPLETING TURNS VERY DIFFICULT. A COUPLE OF TIMES I HAD TO MAKE COMPLETE STOPS TO AVOID HITTING VEHICLES OR GOING INTO A DITCH. I ALSO NOTICED THE STEERING STIFFENING WHILE MAKING SLIGHT TURNS WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS IS SERIOUSLY PUTTING MY FAMILY IN DANGER.
CHEVY RECALLED TWO PARTS IN THE TRAVERSE LINE, A POWER STEERING PUMP AND ANOTHER PART RELATED TO THE STEERING. RECALL NUMBER 14329. WHEN THESE PARTS FAIL THEY CAN CAUSE THE RACK AND PINION TO ALSO FAIL. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS TO NUMEROUS TECHNICIANS AND THEY ALL BACK THIS CLAIM UP. OUR POWER STEERING COMPLETELY FAILED AND CHEVY REPLACED THE PARTS BUT THIS FAILURE CAUSED THE RACK AND PINION TO FAIL WHICH CHEVY IS TAKING NO RESPONSIBILITY TO REPLACE.
