A MECHANIC TOLD ME MY POWER TRAIN CHAIN IS LOOSE AND THAT THIS IS COMMON IN 2011 6 ENGINES AND TO REPORT IT CAUSE IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MY CAR WILL BARELY MAKE IT UP A HILL AND THE FUEL MILEAGE HAS GONE DOWN.
DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 75 MPH, THE MOTOR SIEZED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE MOTOR LOCKED AND THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. HE COMMENTED SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINEERING OF THE ENGINE SPECIFIC TO OIL. HE IS CONCERN THAT CHANGING THE ENGINE MAY RESULT IN THE SAME SITUATION GIVEN THE MOTOR'S DESIGN.
I DROVE DOWN TO MY DAUGHTERS ON SUNDAY DECEMBER 1ST 2019 WHICH IS IN FREASTERVILLE PA AND WE LIVE IN MECHANICSBURG PA. SO I DRIVE THE TURNPIKE AND I HAVE DONE THIS TRIP A LOT, HAVING NO ISSUES AT ALL WITH MY TRAVERSE 2011. ON MONDAY WE BOTH GOT INTO MY CAR AS ND DROVE BACK TO MECHANICSBURG BECAUSE SHE HAD TO PICK UP HER VEHICLE FOR WORK THE NEXT DAY, WE GET HOME MONDAY NIGHT 12/2/2019 NO PROBLEMS STILL PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY AND EVERYTHING IS GOOD . NEXT MORNING 12/3/2019 I GO TO TAKE HER TO GET HER WORK CAR WE GET IN MY SUV STILL IN MY DRIVEWAY AND IT MADE THIS GOD AWFUL NOISE AND I TURNED IT OFF IMMEDIATELY AND YELLED TO MY HUSBAND SOMETHING IS WRONG. HE GOES TO TRY IT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR WANTS TO START AND NOTHING IT WON'T. WE HAVE IT FLAT BEDDED TO CRALLS GARAGE IN HARRISBURG AND HE CALLED SAID THAT WE NEED A NEW ENGINE HE SAID IT WAS MAKING A NOISE IN THE LOWER BACK END OF MOTOR AND WE NEED A NEW MOTOR. WE OWE 13000.00 ON THIS CAR AND I LOVE IT HIW CAN THIS HAPPEN. HE SAID IT WILL COST 5000.00 FOR A NEW MOTOR AND I CAN NOT AFFORD IT. .I HAVE READ SO MANY REVIEWS THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO 2011 TRAVERSES HOW CAN THE MANUFACTURER NOT FIX THIS . I HAD NO WARNINGS AT ALL NO ENGINE LIGHTS NOTHING. PLEASE HELP
ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE LOUD NOISE KNOCKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. CHECKED ALL FLUIDS AND THEY WERE ALL IN GOOD CONDITION. HAD A MECHANIC CHECK, THEY SAID ENGINE WAS SHOT AND THAT THEY HAVE SEEN A LOT OF THE TRAVERSE VEHICLES HAVE ENGINE FAILURE.
MY SERVICE AIRBAGS FRONT DRIVER WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR NO RADIO NO BLUE TOOTH
THE ENGINE TIME CHAIN IS BAD. IF THE TIME CHAIN FINISHES BRAKING IT WILL KILL OFF ALL THE ENGINE MAKING THE REPAIR OVER $5,000 IT SEEMS LIKE IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE CARS WITH THE 3.6 VVT V6 ENGINE, AS I HAVE SEEN PEOPLE GO THRU THIS ALSO ONLINE MANY PEOPLE WERE TALKING ABOUT HOW UNRELAIBLE THESE CARS ARE ON THAT WAY. I HAVE DIFFERENT QUOTES FROM DIFFERENT MECHANIC SHOPS THE LOWEST BEEN $2,500.
SITTING IN THE PARKING LOT WAITING FOR MY DAUGHTER TO GET OUT OF SCHOOL ALL OF A SUDDEN IT SMELLS HOT THEN START TO DRIVE OFF AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS AND ABS GO WILD THEN I PULL OVER TURN OFF THE ENGINE OPEN THE HOOD AND THERE'S SMOKE LETTING IT COOL THE KEY WON'T REVERSE OUT OF THE IGNITION AND THERE'S NO POWER AT ALL
THE STEERING ON MY TRAVERSE INTERMITTENTLY STOPS WORKING, THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE ANY PATTERN AND WHEN IT STOPS WORKING THE CAR IS PRACTICALLY UNDRIVEABLE AND I'VE ALMOST GOTTEN INTO ACCIDENTS THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. MOST OF THE TIME IT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING, HOWEVER, WHEN STOPPED IT HAPPENS AS WELL.
CAR WAS POWERING DOWN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NOW NEEDS TIMING CHAINS REPLACED. ALSO STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE STEERING NOT WORKING AND THE STEERING RACK IS BAD AND NEEDS REPLACES. SUSPENSION IS NO GOOD AND ALL HAS TO BE REDONE. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT FOR BEING A 2011.
POWER STEERING SEEMS TO FAIL AT LOW SPEEDS AFFECTING TURNING, AS INTO PARKING SPOTS, GARAGE, ETC. WHEEL ALMOST SEEMS TO FREEZE IN PLACE BECOMING ALL BUT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN. NOT NOTICABLE AT DRIVING SPEEDS. HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF FOR OVER A YEAR. MY LOCAL MECHANIC MENTIONED A RECALL BUT MY VIN NUMBER DID NOT COME UP ON THE LIST.
ON REPEATED OCCASIONS FOR SEVERAL YEARS, WHEN TRAVELING AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED, DURING A TURN, THE STEERING WILL FREEZE. VEHICLE WILL BECOME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND CAR EMITS HIGH LOUD SOUNDS. IF CAR IS STOPPED AND ENGINE TURNED OFF, WHEN RESTARTED IT WILL OFTEN CONTINUE TO EMIT THE SOUND AND CONTINUE TO BE NON-RESPONSIVE.
THE SPEAKERS WILL QUIT WORKING WHEN IT IS EITHER WET OR COLD OUTSIDE. ASIDE FROM THE STEREO NOT WORKING THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS ALL WARNINGS DO NOT SOUND AS THEY COME THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. WARNINGS INCLUDE BACKUP SENSOR SEAT BELT AND MUCH MORE.
MY MECHANIC SAID MY TIMING CHAIN IS LOOSE & THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. ALSO MY RADIO GOES REAL LOW IN A HIGH PITCH TONE & I CAN'T HEAR IT SO THAT MEANS MY TURN SINGNALS ARE LOW & EVERYTHING ELSE THAT MAKES A SOUND IS VERY LOW. ALSO MY WINDOW CONTROLS ARE ALL STARTING TO NOT WORK ONE BY ONE. I ONLY HAVE 89000 MILES ON MY CAR. MY MECHANIC IS TELLING ME I SHOULD GET RID OF MY CAR BUT I ALWAYS THOUGHT CHEVY WAS A GOOD CAR.
TIMES 2- AGAIN I GET THE STABILITRAK WARNING. CRUISE WILL NOT WORK, POWERS DOWN TRYING TO EXCELERATE. THE DEALERSHIP CAN NOT FIX THIS SENSE THERE IS NO CODE COMING UP FOR IT EVEN THOUGH THE WARNING LIGHT IS ON AND FLASHING ON MY DASH. TRYING TO ACCELERATE IT WILL POWER DOWN AT LIGHTS, ON INTERSTATE ETC.
THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS GOING ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO LOSE SOME POWER WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO MECHANIC TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED. CODE P0008 APPEARS TO BE WORN TIMING CHAINING. I HAVE SPOKEN TO TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS AS WELL AS A CHEVY DEALERSHIP - ALL HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. A GOOGLE SEARCH INFORMED ME THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CHEVY TRAVERSE. IN FACT, EARLY MODELS RECEIVED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE. THIS WARRANTY NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO OTHER YEARS AS WELL.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF. THE CODE IS P0008 FOR TIMING CHAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5438770343. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. *TT*JB
2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE: WHILE DRIVING ALL THE LIGHTS START FLASHING AND THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF AND ON, NOT LETTING YOU ACCELERATE AND SLOWING THE CAR DOWN RAPIDLY. THEN THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF AND VEHICLE IDOLS ROUGH. IF I STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR THERE IS NO REPOSE FROM THE VEHICLE. WE DO NOT TREAT THE VEHICLE HASH OR DRIVE WILD. I DONT HAVE THE MONEY FOR A LOT OF REPAIRS. I CHANGE THE OIL WHEN IT'S TIME AND MAKE SURE ITS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND GM HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE ESPECIALLY FOR SOMEONE DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED. DEATH IS A MAJOR POSSIBILITY IF THIS WERE TO HAPPEN IN FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONCE BEFORE TODAY.
THE VEHICLE IS MAKING A NOISE WHEN STARTING, PRESSING ON THE GAS AND WHEN TURNING TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT. AFTER CHECKING THE SPECIFIC CODE P0017, AND DIAGNOSTICS FROM DEALER ITS WAS THE TIMING CHAIN, STEERING GEAR AND PUMP ASSEMBLIES ARE THE ISSUE WITH MY 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE. LOOKED UP THE WARRANTIES STILL APPLICABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE, SPECIAL COVERAGE 14582 (THROTTLE, TIMING CHAIN ETC.), 14329 (POWER STEERING) AND SPECIAL COVERAGE N192219480 (SEATBELT PRETENSIONER)
THE REAR SUPPORT FOR LIFT OF DOOR FAILED- VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER FAILED - VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY A/C BLOWS FREON THROUGH VENTS- STATIONARY, IN MOTION- HAS BEEN IN SHOP 3 TIMES CONDENSER, A/C LINES HAVE BEEN REPLACED- STILL DOES NOT HOLD FREON FOR LONG
DRIVING 75 ON FREEWAY WITH CRUISE ON. CAR ACTED LIKE GAS PEDAL WAS FLOORED SHUT CRUISE OFF SEEMED FINE 10 MILES LATER HEAR A FLAPPING AND ENGINE DIES. THIS WAS VERY SCARY AND COULD HAVE CAUSED MAJOR ACCIDENT BUT MY HUSBAND MANAGED TO STEER US TO SHOULDER. HAD CAR TOWED HOME AS WOULD NOT START. HAD MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND NEED NEW ENGINE $6,300 DOLLARS TO FIX ONLY 114,000 MILES ON IT AND STILL OWE.
AT JUST OVER 100,000 MILES I HAD TO CHANGE THE TIMING CHAINS COST ME 3500 DOLLARS.AND 3 WEEKS LATER THE MOTOR SEIZED UP . I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS I WAS TOLD IT IS A BAD DESIGN ON THESE ENGINES. PAY FOR A CAR THAT JUST SITS THERE AS I CANT AFFORD ANOTHER ENGINE FOR IT

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC PROVIDED FAILURE CODES P0017 AND P0008. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE CODES WERE RELATED TO THE CRANKSHAFT AND THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
TIMING CHAIN ISSUE CODE P0008 AVOIDED CRASH. LOCKED UP ENGINE WEAK TIMING CHAINS ARE STRETCHING CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOCK UP MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AT HIGHWAY SPEED. MUCH MORE OF A SAFETY ISSUE THAN THE AIR BAG OR SEAT BELT RECALLS
MY TRUCK SEEMS TO ALWAYS BRAKE DOWN FROM THE AC THERE IS ALWASY THIS HISSING NIOSE AND I HAVE READY A LOT OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THE AC ALSO NOT WORKING THE FREON DOES NOT LAST VERY LONG AND I TAKE IT WITH A SPECIALIST AND THEY TELL ME THERE ARE NO LEAKS. I AN VERY FRUATRATED ALREADY BECAUSE I HAVE 5 KIDS AND MY KIDS ARE ALWAYS COMPLAINING OF HOW HOT ITA GETS IN THE BACK SEATS.
IN JAN 2017 TIMING CHAIN HAD TO BE REPLACED, SOME WORK COVERED BY WARRANTY BUT STILL COST ME 4000 ON JUNE 24 WHILE DRIVING HOME NOTICED A KNOCKING TYPE SOUND COMING FROM ENGINE, PARKED IT, NEXT DAY TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC, SOUND WAS VERY LOUD NOW, AND TOLD THE MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, ROD BROKE, CAN NOT AFFORD TO FIX, AND IS NOW A PAPER WEIGHT IN MY DRIVEWAY, JUST FINISHED PAYING IT OFF, CHEVY DEALER HERE WAS USELESS
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT SLOW SPEEDS 20 MPH OR LESS THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. WHEN THE PROBLEM FIRST HAPPENED WE CHECKED THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND MADE SURE IT WAS FULL. THEN IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND IT IS VERY HARD TO MUSCLE THE WHEEL IT BECOMES SO STIFF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AS THESE ARE TYPICALLY FAMILY VEHICLES CARRYING CHILDREN. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE IT APPEARS THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF TRAVERSE OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
DRIVING MY CAR ON THE STREET AND HEARD 3 BEEPS GO OFF AND CAR WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. STABILITRAK WARNING, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS. TRIED PUSHING ON PEDAL TO GO AND CAR COULDN'T PICK UP SPEED. TURN CAR OFF LET SIT TRIED AGAIN 30 SECONDS LATER SAME. HAD THE THROTTLE SWITCH WORKED COUPLE DAYS AND NOW ITS HAPPEN AGAIN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SEIZED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED BY AAA TO BAIERL CHEVROLET (10430 PERRY HWY, WEXFORD, PA 15090, (877) 217-0160) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN BELT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 81,331.
THE WATER PUMP LEAKING- ONLY 68,0000 MILES
THE VEHICLES CONTROL PANEL DISPLAYS MULTIPLE ERRORS SUCH AS ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED, PARK ASSIST OFF, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, BRAKE (IN RED), ABS AND ALL THE GAGES GO UP AND DOWN, AUTOMATIC LOCKS-LOCK AND UNLOCK ALL WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET AND HIGHWAYS. ATTEMPTING TO PULL THE CAR OVER, THE TRANSMISSION WONT GO INTO PARK. MULTIPLE TIMES IT WON'T START AND SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE FAILS TO GAIN SPEED WHILE DRIVING.
2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE IN GREAT CONDITION. ENGINE STARED MISSING AND ROUGHLY IDLING OCCASIONALLY.CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON JUST SHORT OF 119000 MILES. AUTO PARTS STORE REPORTED DIAGNOSTIC CODE: P008. GOOGLED P008 AND MESSAGE BOARDS STATED GM HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM FOR THIS PROBLEM. WENT TO THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER, ASKED ABOUT THE COVERAGE UP TO 120,000 MILES SINCE I WAS ALMOST UP TO 120,000 MILES. PROVIDED THE VIN & THE DEALER SAID THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER THE PROGRAM & RECOMMENDED SCHEDULING SERVICE TO HAVE IT FIXED AT MY EXPENSE. ANOTHER OPTION WAS TO TAKE MY CHANCES. HE ADVISED KEEPING OIL LEVEL HIGH & CLEAN TO EXTEND POSSIBLE LIFE OF THE ENGINE & TIMING CHAIN. SERVICE REP SAID THAT HE SEES THIS PROBLEM ON A FAIRLY-REGULAR BASIS, ABOUT 2-4 TIMES PER MONTH. A CRITICAL FAILURE RATE OF THAT FOR JUST ONE DEALER IS WAY TOO HIGH! GM SHOULD EXTEND THE COVERAGE, ESPECIALLY WHEN THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE! DAYS LATER I DECIDED I DIDN'T WANT TO RE-EXPERIENCE MY 2001 SATURN TIMING CHAIN FAILED AT 67,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY. HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WITH A RE-MANUFACTURED ENGINE FOR APPROXIMATELY $3,000.00. DUE TO FATALITIES RESULTING FROM THE TIMING CHAIN FAILURES, SATURN/GM FINALLY DECIDED TO RECALL THE AFFECTED VEHICLES OR REIMBURSE FOR REPLACEMENT ENGINES. I HAD REPLACED THE ENGINE AT MY OWN EXPENSE, SO I WAS LATER REIMBURSED ~$2,500.00 BY SATURN (GM). WITH THIS IN MIND, I SCHEDULED SERVICE FOR MY 2011 TRAVERSE ABOUT A WEEK LATER AT THE GM DEALER. IT REQUIRED PULLING THE ENGINE, METAL SHAVINGS CLEANED OUT OF ENGINE, GUIDES, TENSIONERS, AND TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. COST 2 DAYS LABOR AND PARTS $2924.87. GM SHOULD EXTEND COVERING DIAGNOSED P008 FAULT REPAIRS, OR AT THE VERY LEAST, OFFER AN AFTER-FAILURE REIMBURSEMENT FOR REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT DUE TO FAULTY/STRETCHED TIMING CHAINS ON THEIR ENGINES.
SERVICE STABILITRAK/TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHEN DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED
2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SECOND ROW SEAT TRIM SHIELDS SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL N100243; THEREFORE, THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *JS *JS
TAKATA RECALL, I WAS DRIVING MY CAR DOWN AN INTERSTATE AND THE COOLANT HAD LEAKED OUT AND OVERHEATED MY CAR I HAVE DONE HAD EACH HOSE AND HOUSING AND THE THERMOSTAT AND THE RESERVOIR TAKE REPLACED IN IT ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. IT'S IS NOW DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN IT STARTED AGAIN WHILE I WAS ON A HIGHWAY.
THE TIMING CHAIN WHEN OUT ON MY 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE. THERE ARE KNOWN ISSUES WITH THESE VEHICLES NOT MUCH OLDER THAN MINE AND I AM HEARING ABOUT A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE 2011 MODELS AS WELL. I THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO. THE TIMING CHAIN WENT OUT WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY AND THAT COULD HAVE TURNED INTO A DEADLY SITUATION. THE CONTACT REACHED OUT TO THE MANUFACTURER, BUT WAS UNABLE TO SPEAK WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 142,000.

COMING HOME IN DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE JUST DIED. LOCAL MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS A CAM SHAFT SENSOR, BUT AFTER LOOKING FURTHER IT'S THE TIMING CHAIN & I NEED A NEW ENGINE ON 2011 TRAVERSE WITH 93,000 MILES. CHEVY CORP SAID CHEVY NEEDS TO DIAGNOSE AT $100 AN HOUR. THEY WOULD HAVE TO DO A COMPLETE ENGINE TEAR DOWN WHICH COULD BE 10 HOURS PLUS THE COST OF A NEW ENGINE & THEY WON'T GUARANTEE COST ASSISTANCE. THE WORK HAS TO BE DONE BY CHEVY. THE VEHICLE IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY SINCE MARCH 2019. I'D LIKE FOR CHEVY TO OWN UP TO THIS PROBLEM & FIX MY VEHICLE AT NO COST

PARKED THE VEHICLE AS DEALERSHIP SAID IT KEEPS HAPPENING FOR 2011 TRAVERSE AND THEY ARE WAITING FOR RECALL. 6 MONTHS LATER DECIDED TO TAKE CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP TO GET FIXED QUOTED $3800. ON WAY TO DEALERSHIP (20 MINUTES AWAY) GOING 40 MILES AN HOUR CAR STARTED MAKING MACHINE GUNS NOISES AND SLOWING DOWN. PULLED INTO A NEIGHBORHOOD AND PARKED CAR. CALLED A TOW COMPANY AND HAD THEM TOW IT BACK TO THE HOUSE. LUCKILY, OUR NEIGHBOR WORKS AT A MECHANIC SHOP AND CAME OVER. HE TURNED THE CAR ON AND IT SHUT RIGHT OFF. AFTER HIS EXAMINATION HE SAID MY ENGINE HAD SEIZED AND WOULD NEED TO REPLACE IT. ALREADY HAVING TO RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM NOW I NEED TO REPLACE A TIMING CHAIN AND REPLACE AN ENGINE?? SEEMS AFTER READING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS THE 2011 TRAVERSE HAS MAJOR ISSUES AND THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!
I HAVE THE CEL ON READING CODE P0017. THE SUV IS STARTING TO IDLE A BIT ROUGHER AND I HAVE GARAGED THE VEHICLE UNTIL I CAN HAVE IT SERVICED. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE SERVICE BULLETIN 11340 AND REFERENCING BULLETIN 12-06-01-009D FOR TIMING CHAIN AND TENSIONER FAILURE AND REPLACEMENT THE SERVICE TECH STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE ISSUES REGARDING THIS ENGINE, THE YEAR OF MY TRAVERSE DIDN'T QUALIFY. I THEN CONTACTED GM. THE BEST THEY COULD PROVIDE IS A CASE # REGARDING MY COMPLAINT AND OFFERED TO GET ME THE PHONE # TO MY NEAREST DEALERSHIP. I WILL HAVE TO KEEP ON PRESSING THE ISSUE UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED (CONSIDERING THE CHEVY HAS 89,000 MILES).
TIMING CHAIN
TRAVERSE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME. MAKING THINK THAT CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. ALL OF THE TIME THAT THE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN WE ARR DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A FLAT SURFACE.
AT 90,000 MILES I WAS DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN. LOSS OF POWER STEERING, BRAKES LOCKED UP, ENGINE DIED. BROUGHT IT HOME REPLACED BATTERY AND SERPENTINE BELT. ATTEMPTED TO START, AND TOOK SEVERAL TRIES. ONCE RUNNING THERE WAS A HORRIFIC LOUD KNOCK COMING FROM THE ENGINE. TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO REPORTED THE ENGINE WOULD "THROW A ROD ANY TIME NOW" AND THAT HAVING LOOKED THE VEHICLE OVER IT WAS NO FAULT OF MY OWN. FLUIDS WERE ALL FRESH AND FULL, NO DEBRIS IN OIL, NO REASON FOR FAILURE. I'M NOW STUCK WITH A LOAN ON A CAR THAT FAILED WAY BEFORE INDUSTRY STANDARDS. DO YOUR JOB GM AND HELP OUT YOUR CUSTOMERS! I HAVE HEARD OF MANY OTHER TRAVERSE MODELS IN THIS YEAR RANGE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE!
**TIMING BELT RECALL** I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE LOCAL PARKWAY AND IT LOST POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT THEN STARTED RIDING ROUGH AS IF THE TIRES WERE WOBBLING THEN I WENT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND IT STARTED MAKING A REEVING NOISE DURING THE TURN. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE AUTO SHOP AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO OIL LEAKS BUT THE OIL WAS LOW AND ALSO I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN ON MY VEHICLE.

THIS IS TOWARD CHEVROLET AND ANY OTHER VEHICLE MAKERS THAT REQUIRE EXCESSIVE USE OF DEALERSHIPS FOR MINOR MAINTENANCE. I HAVE COMMUTED 40 MILES DAILY FOR 18 YEARS, I HAVE PREVIOUSLY OWNED FORD VEHICLES AND HAD NO ISSUES WITH DOING MINOR REPAIRS MYSELF. WITH MY CHEVY VEHICLE I HAVE TO TAKE IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP OR REPAIR SHOP TO CHANGE A SIMPLE HEADLIGHT BECAUSE OF THE GREEDY DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THEY DID THIS ON PURPOSE SO THEY COULD MAKE MORE MONEY AT THE DEALERSHIP AFTER SALES. IN THE PAST WHEN I DROVE FORDS IF MY HEADLIGHT WENT HOME I WOULD STOP A COUPLE BLOCKS FROM MY WORK AND POP ONE IN. I STOPPED ON EXIT RAMPS AND ADDED A NEW ONE MANY TIMED, KEEPING A EXTRA IN MY GLOVE BOX LIKE A PREPARED DRIVER. WITH MY TRAVERSE I HAVE GO IN AND HAVE THE TIRE TAKEN OFF AND THE WHEEL WHEEL PLASTIC OFF TO CHANGE THE HEADLIGHT. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNSAFE AND RIDICULOUS. I'VE COMPLAINED TO CHEVY WITHOUT A RESPONSE. THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE TO SAVE LIVES. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR LONG COMMUTERS. IMAGINE BEING ON VACATION AND HAVING TO SPEND A DAY OF IT AT A DEALERSHIP GETTING YOUR HEADLIGHT CHANGED FOR $125.00. WE LIVE IN MN AND FREQUENTLY HAVE TO CHANGE BULBS DUE TO --60 DEGREE WIND CHILLS. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP UP WITH, AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. WHEN YOU SPEND $30K-50K ON A VEHICLE IT SHOULD BE SAFE AND EASY TO MAINTAIN SAFETY. DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HAVING TO PULL OUT THE FLOORING OF THE 2ND ROW TO CHANGE A BATTERY.

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT I CAN DO WITH THIS .
