WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH, MY CAR STARTED LOSING POWER AND SLOWING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY! I HAVE GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM AND OTHER CONSUMERS HAVE THIS ISSUE AS WELL. I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS MAY BE A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED ME AND MY CHILDREN! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING RACK SYSTEM WAS DEFECTIVE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT LANES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CLASSIFIED UNDER A SPECIAL WARRANTY FOR A STEERING PUMP; HOWEVER, THE FAULTY STEERING PUMP CAUSED THE RACK SYSTEM TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT WHEN DRIVING. MY 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER, DIAGNOSED FAILURE OF POWER STEERING PUMP AND RACK AND PINION. WAS INFORMED THAT CHEVY WOULD ONLY COVER POWER STEERING PUMP UNDER SEPARATE EXTENDED WARRANTY ISSUED BY GM AND THAT RACK AND PINION IS NOT COVERED AND I WOULD NEED TO PAY FULL COST OF REPLACEMENT. STEERING ISSUES APPEAR TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. GM SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO EXTEND WARRANTY FOR ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM. *TR
MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A WHIRING SOUND WHILE I WAS SITTING STILL AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL, THE NOISE GOT LOUDER, BUT IT DID NOT GET TIGHTER. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT MY RACK AND PINION STEERING WAS BAD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. APPARENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FLUID WHICH WAS CAUSING THE NOISE. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD CAUSE ME $1100 - $1200 TO BE REPAIRED BECAUSE IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THE STEERING PUMP IS COVERED UNDER A SPECIAL WARRANTY AND CAN BE REPAIRED WITHOUT ANY COST. MY CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD, I BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE TAKEN GREAT CAR OF IT. I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS SO SOON. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS A DEPENDABLE CAR, BUT APPARENTLY I WAS WRONG. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY IN THE FUTURE. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS PROBLEM AND GM SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR SELLING VEHICLES THAT ARE NOT SAFE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE IDLING, THE REAR TAILGATE WINDOW GLASS POPPED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
MY VEHICLE'S POWER STEERING FAILED, GM HAS A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE STEERING PUMP LEAKING BUT THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE AS PER THE RECALL. THEY SAID MY RACK AND PINION STEER HAS ALSO IS LEAKING. I FEEL THIS IS A WAY TO GET YOU TO SPEND MORE ON REPAIRS. WHEN THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS ON A STATE ROAD AND I ALMOST LOST CONTROL BECAUSE THE PS ASSIST FAILED.
I BEGAN EXPERIENCING A WHIRRING NOISE WHEN I WOULD STEER MY CAR. THEN ONE DAY LAST WEEK AS I WAS DRIVING THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT AND IT FELT LIKE SOMETHING HAPPENED WITH THE POWER STEERING. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE TO FIND THAT THERE WAS A SPECIAL WARRANTY ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND THAT IT WOULD BE REPLACED UNDER THAT WARRANTY AT NO CHARGE BUT DUE TO THE STEERING PUMP FAILING THE STEERING GEAR WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED WHICH WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE "SPECIAL" WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO COVER THE COST OF THIS MYSELF TO THE TUNE OF $1157.62. THE ISSUE I HAVE IS THAT ALTHOUGH I CAN AFFORD TO FIX MY VEHICLE, WHICH I DID PAY TO FIX, I FIND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE AMOUNGST MANY CONSUMERS WHO OWN ANY OF THE VEHICLES ON THE LAMBDA LINE WHICH INLCUDES GMC ACADIA, CHEVY TRAVERSE, BUICK ENCLAVE AND SATURN OUTLOOK. THIS IS NOT ISSUE OF COST TO REPAIR, THIS IS AN ISSUE OF SAFETY THAT THE MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND WILL NOT FIX UNDER RECALL. I AM HAPPY I FOUND MY PROBLEM BEFORE I WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. *TR
ENGINE OVERHEATED, REDUCED ENGINE POWER CAME ON AND CAR SHUT DOWN. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AROUND 55MPH WHEN I NOTICED MY STEERING BECOMING VERY TIGHT SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD. WHEN I PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND TRIED TO TURN INTO A PARKING PLACE, MY STEERING WAS VERY TIGHT AND I HAD A HARD TIME TURNING. I WAS WORRIED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK WITH MY POWER STEERING FLUID SO I HAD MY LOCAL GARAGE CHECK IT, THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS FULL. WHEN I STARTED TO RESEARCH THE PROBLEM, I AM FINDING THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR/MAKE/MODEL AND WONDER WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ISSUED? MY NEXT STEP IS TO CONTACT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP, I HAVE SEEN SOME QUOTE THE REPAIR EXPENSE UP INTO THE THOUSANDS.. *TR
CAR BECAME VERY SLUGGISH SPEED DROPPED DOWN TO 40MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOLLOWED BY TWO MESSAGES "TRACTION CONTROL OFF" AND "SERVICE STABILITRAK" CAR BARELY MOVED AFTER THAT. I PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TURNED THE CAR OFF, ATTEMPTED TO TURN IT BACK ON THE CAR WOULDN'T START AFTER 3 MINS THE CAR STARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME HOWEVER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON AND THE ERROR MESSAGES ARE STILL BEING DISPLAYED. I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM APPARENTLY IT'S VERY COMMON AND A RECALL NEED TO BE ISSUED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
NOTICED LEAK ON GARAGE FLOOR. DETERMINED POWER STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING. BROUGHT TO DEALER. THEY CONFIRMED STEERING RACK WAS DEFECTIVE, BUT NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. COULD HAVE CAUSED LOSS OF STEERING. RACK SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED SO SOON. CHEVY SHOULD REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS AT LEAST FOR COST OF PART AND ISSUE SERVICE BULLETIN. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR FATALITY OR CRASH BEFORE ACTION IS TAKEN.
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK AND LUCKILY HAD ALREADY GOTTEN OFF THE FREEWAY, DRIVING APROX. 35MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOOSE SPEED, A COUPLE OF MSGS WERE POPPING UP "STABILITRAC OFF" "SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL" "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THE SPEED DROPPED DOWN TO ABOUT 5 MPH, I HAD TO PULL OVER IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLES BEHIND ME TO PASS ME. I PUT THE VEHICLE ON PARK AND WHILE IDLING, IT STARTED VIBRATING. I TURNED IT OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. AFTER THIS IT SEEMED TO BE DOING GOOD. , ENOUGH FOR ME TO GET TO WORK
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH. REDUCE POWER LIGHT AND STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. TRAVERSE SLOWED DOWN TO 20 MPH. I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED ON THE HIGHWAY. BROUGHT THE TRAVERSE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. TIME FOR A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V118000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR DIAGNOSED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ON SNOW COVERED ROADS ON 2/21/2015, A NOTIFICATION CAME ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL "SERVICE STABILITRACK", "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". THE CAR WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 40MPH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN, AS INSTRUCTED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL. THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS FINE. IT DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN UNTIL TONIGHT (3/3/2015). AGAIN, ON SNOWY ROADS ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK, THE SAME WARNING CAME ON AND THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED. IN RESEARCHING THIS, IT IS APPARENTLY A COMMON COMPLAINT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN NH IN TRAFFIC WHEN STABILITRAC/REDUCED POWER/TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR SLOWED DOWN TO 15 MPH ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. BARELY MADE IT OFF THE NEXT EXIT AS CAR WOULDN'T GO OVER 10 MPH. LUCKILY THE CARS BEHIND ME DID NOT SLAM INTO ME AS IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION. A RECALL IS NEEDED IS IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING TO WORK THIS MORNING (2/18/15) ON A MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY AND SUDDENLY POWER WAS REDUCED DRAMATICALLY ON MY 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED AT MY DIC AND NOTICED THE FOLLOWING READINGS LISTED: "SERVICE STABLE TRACK", "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", "TRACTION CONTROL OFF", "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL". ALSO, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY BUT MY MAXIMUM SPEED WAS ONLY 15 MPH. I STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND THEN PUT BACK IN DRIVE. I WENT BACK IN TO TRAFFIC BUT MY MAXIMUM SPEED WAS ONLY 40 MPH. AFTER ARRIVING AT MY OFFICE, I NOTICED THE ENGINE APPEARED TO NOT BEING RUNNING PROPERLY, AS IF IT WASN'T GETTING THE RIGHT FUEL/OXYGEN MIXTURE. I CALLED THE GM DEALERSHIP TO INFORM THEM OF THE PROBLEMS AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THEM FOR TESTING. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS NEEDING TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE PART WOULD NOT BE IN UNTIL TOMORROW. I WILL BE PICKING THE VEHICLE UP TOMORROW AFTER THE REPAIR AND I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE IF MY WIFE OR SON HAD BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, IT MAY HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN IN A VEHICLE, THE CHANCE OF AN ACCIDENT ON A BUSY INTERSTATE OR HIGHWAY IS VERY LIKELY WHEN YOUR SPEED IN REDUCED DRAMATICALLY. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND STABILITY TRACK OFF, SERVICE STABILITY TRACK, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,057.
I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A LOW GROWLING NOISE THAT SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AS I TURNED CORNERS. IN APRIL 2015, I WAS HAVING THE DEALERSHIP PERFORM THE 30,000 MILE MAINTENANCE AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK TO SEE WHAT WAS CAUSING THE NOISE. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THAT IT COULD CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL TO WORK IN WHICH CASE I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO STEER AND IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR--ABOUT $850 FOR LABOR AND $700 FOR THE PART AND THEY DID HAVE THE PART IN STOCK. THE TRAVERSE HAD 31,110 MILES ON IT. BUT, WAS OUT OF WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAD BOUGHT IT IN SEPT. 2010. I DECIDED TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AT 31,000 MILES. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF I DIDN'T HAVE IT REPAIRED. I CALLED THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER IN THE OWNERS' MANUAL AND A CASE WAS FILED WITH THEM. A SENIOR ADVISOR TOLD ME THAT SHE WOULD CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT IT. BUT, THAT THE WARRANTY TIME HAD PASSED AND THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER IT. THE DEALERSHIP HAD THE PART IN STOCK IMPLIES THEY SEE THESE FAILURES OFTEN. THE LABOR WAS 8.6 HOURS IMPLIES A POOR DESIGN. SHE SAID THE DEALERSHIP WOULD CALL ME. THEY DID FINALLY CALL TO REITERATE THAT IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE SENIOR ADVISOR I SPOKE WITH AT GM SAID SHE WISHED I HAD CALLED HER BEFORE I HAD THE REPAIR MADE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT MEANT. DID SHE MEAN THEY WOULD HAVE COVERED PART OF THE COST? DID SHE MEAN THAT I SHOULD WAIT UNTIL I COULDN'T TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND HAD OR CAUSED AN ACCIDENT? I DON'T KNOW. MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE PURCHASED MANY GM VEHICLES SINCE 1969 AS SHE NOTED. AS I REVIEWED THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, IT SEEMED TO ME THAT ABOUT ONE-THIRD OF THEM WERE ABOUT STEERING GEAR FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ON A HIGHWAY, THE SERVICE STABILITRAK AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED THIS 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE IN FEB. OF 2015, SO I BELIEVED IT TO BE A FAIRLY NEW CAR IN GOOD SHAPE. NOT EVEN A MONTH LATER THE GAS HAND BECOMES FAULTY AND IS NOT SHOWING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GAS, AND STARTS FLUCTUATING. NEXT I'M RIDING ON THE FREEWAY AND THE TRUCK IMMEDIATELY STARTS SLOWING DOWN AND READS LOSS OF ENGINE POWER AND SHUTS OFF RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. NOW I AM FREAKING OUT WITH ME AND MY KIDS IN THE CAR AND OTHERS FLYING AROUND ME DOING 75 TO 80 MPH TO MY DECREASING SPEED. I WAS SCARED FOR MY LIFE AND MY CHILDREN'S LIVES AS CARS AND TRUCKS ARE SPEEDING AROUND AND HONKING AT ME. THE TRUCK DIES AND I BARELY MANAGE TO GET TO THE SIDE SO THAT I WOULD NOT BE HIT. I THEN GET THE CAR TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO THEN SAYS THAT THE TRUCK NEEDS A WATER PUMP WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. THEY ALSO RESET MY FUEL SENSOR BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY TESTED IT AND IT WAS STILL GOOD. SO IT ONLY COST ME $100.00. I PICK MY TRUCK UP AND IT WORKS FINE FOR LESS THAN A MONTH AND STARTS UP AGAIN. I RUN OUT OF GAS ON A BUSY STREET AND GET ANOTHER TOW. BACK TO THE CHEVROLET HOUSE IT GOES. THIS TIME THEY RESET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SAYS ITS STILL NOT THE FUEL PUMP, SENSOR, OR ANYTHING BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING AT ALL. I GO PICK IT UP ONCE AGAIN AND ON MY WAY HOME RAN OUT OF GAS, WHILE THE GAS LEVEL IS READING RIGHT AT HALF A TANK. I KNOW THERE WAS GAS IN THE TANK WHEN I RAN OUT AND WHEN THE TRUCK WAS TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR A WHOLE WEEK AND ALL THEY DID WAS GOT THE TRUCK ON LEVEL GROUND, OBVIOUSLY, AND THE TRUCK RAN ALL THE GAS OUT WHILE PARKED AND THEY WERE 'TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM'. SO NOW THE GAS HAND IS NOT WORKING AT ALL AND I'M ALWAYS PUTTING GAS IN IT AND TAKING A CHANCE BECAUSE NOBODY KNOWS WHATS WRONG. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE AND THIS PROBLEM NEEDS RECALLING BEFORE ONE DIES.
WHEN DRIVING MY TRAVERSE AT LOW SPEEDS AROUND 5 MPH WHILE TRYING TO PARK, MY STEERING GETS VERY TIGHT AND IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO MAKE THE TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT. IN ADDITION THE VEHICLE IS MAKING A WHINING NOISE. WE CHECKED THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT IS AT THE CORRECT LEVELS. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL REPAIR MAN AND THEY STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN CONTACTED MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THIS WAS COVERED UNDER MY MANUFACTURES WARRANTY AND HE STATED THAT IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED AND THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 3 YEARS OR 36,000 MILES WHICH EVER COME FIRST. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS NEVER INFORMED ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN RELEASED IN DECEMBER 2014. I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT IT WOULD COST BETWEEN $1000-$1500 TO REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP. MY LOCAL REPAIR MAN HAD QUOTED ME AROUND $750. THEREFORE, I PAID HIM TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE THAT MUCH MONEY AVAILABLE FOR THE DEALER TO DO THE REPAIR AND WAS VERY CONCERNED WITH DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNDER THESE CONDITIONS. WHEN I RETURNED TO PICK UP MY CAR I FOUND OUT THAT THE RACK & PINION IS LEAKING AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED ALSO! THESE ISSUES SEEM TO BE AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I BELIEVE IT POSES A BIG ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF I AM DRIVING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND MY STEERING GOES OUT. VEHICLE HAD ERROR MESSAGES, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL IS OFF, SERVICE STABILITRAX, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. VEHICLE WAS SLOW TO ACCELERATE AND EXPERIENCED DECREASED SPEED. VEHICLE VIBRATING WHILE IDLING. WAS TOLD BY DEALER NOT TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BECAUSE OTHERS WITH SAME ERROR MESSAGES STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, COULD NOT GET THE CAR RESTARTED AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE SUDDEN SLOW ACCELERATION AND DECREASED SPEED ARE SAFETY ISSUES WHICH NEED TO BE ADDRESSED BY GMC BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. DEALERSHIP SAID CODES WERE P2176, P0121 AND P0221 ALL RELATED TO TPS SENSOR. REPLACED THROTTLE BODY, TOTAL COST $607.42. NOT COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY OR EXTENDED WARRANTY. ACCORDING TO A BLOG, IN APPROXIMATELY 2009 GMC STOPPED COVERING THE THROTTLE BODY UNDER THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AFTER 2009 CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. ADDITIONALLY, BLOGS INDICATE THAT EVEN WHEN THE PROBLEM GETS FIXED BY THE DEALER (AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE), THE SAME ISSUE TENDS TO ARISE AGAIN. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL BY GMC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE WITH THE OWNER'S DULY COMPENSATED FOR ANY COSTS THEY MAY HAVE INCURRED. *TR
HAVE NOTICED STEERING BEING STIFF A LOW SPEEDS FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS, AND ONCE HAD IT GO STIFF WHILE DRIVING AROUND 55 MPH WHICH WAS STARTLING TO SAY THE LEAST. THIS MORNING HEARD A WHINE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER WHO SAID THAT FLUID HAD LEAKED OUT FROM THE RACK AND CAUSED THE POWER ASSIST PUMP TO RUN DRY AND GO BAD. DEALER SAYS BOTH THE RACK AND THE PUMP NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2,200, AND SAID THAT THE PUMP IS NOT COVERED UNDER GM'S STEERING SERVICE BULLETIN 377272. GM HAS HAD PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS OVER THESE FAULTY PARTS AND FLUID, AND MUST TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK WITH A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *JS
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE TCS TURNED OFF BY ITSELF A MESSAGE INDICATOR CAME ON STATING REDUCED POWER TCS OFF SERVICE STABILITRAK. I TOOK IT TO A JACK WILLIAMS SINCE THEY WERE THE ONLY ONES OPEN ON AT THE TIME. THEY INSPECTED THE CAR AND DETERMINED I HAD A BAD BATTERY AND REPLACED IT. THE TCS STARTED WORKING AGAIN AND WORKED UNTIL 2/16/15 WHEN AGAIN TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY AT 65MPH THE TCS TURNED OFF BY ITSELF. I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY SHUT OFF THE CAR. A FEW MINUTES LATER I RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME ON A BACK ROAD. 5 MILES FROM MY HOUSE THE TCS AGAIN TURNED OFF AGAIN. A MINUTE LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP AT MOTORWORLD. THEY DETERMINED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS BLOCKED. MY CHOICES WERE TO FLUSH THE SYSTEM WHICH THEY WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THE WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM AS THEY DO NOT TAKE THE THROTTLE BODY ITSELF APART TO SEE IF IT IS SERVICEABLE OR TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND FLUSH THE SYSTEM. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT FLUSHING THE SYSTEM IS PART OF THE PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND SHOULD BE DONE EVERY 40,000 MILES. UPON LOOKING IN MY OWNERS MANUAL I FOUND NO REQUIREMENT THAT THIS IS A PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE ITEM. IF IT WAS THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD HAVE LISTED IT IN THE MANUAL. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY CHEVY DEALER WHO COMPLETES ALL SERVICE ON MY VEHICLE, AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IN THE COLD TEMPERATURES AS OIL TENDS TO ACCUMULATE IN THE THROTTLE BODY AND FREEZE UP, MAKING THE SENSOR GO HAYWIRE, LEAVING THE THROTTLE UNABLE TO COMPENSATE FOR THE CHANGES, AND THE WARNINGS TO OCCUR. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IT WASN'T A BIG DEAL AND IT SHOULD BE FINE WHEN IT WARMS UP. I GUESS WE DIFFER IN OUR OPINION OF WHETHER A CAR SHUTTING DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY OR WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR IS A BIG DEAL. TAKING IT TO THE SHOP TODAY BUT SEE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS TO RE-OCCUR FREQUENTLY. DEFINITELY SEEMS LIKE A RECALL ITEM AS IT CAN CREATE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE POWER IS AUTOMATICALLY REDUCED. ESPECIALLY ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. *TR
MY WIFE DRIVING TO WORK ON BUSY HIGHWAY..ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEED GOES FROM ABOUT 60 MPH TO LIKE 25MPH...STABILITRAK LIGHT COMES ON. CARS HONKING, YELLING,ALMOST HITTING HER BECAUSE HER SPEED REDUCED TO FAST. SHE GOT TO WORK WHEN SHE LEFT FOR THE DAY THE CAR SEEMED OK. THOUGHT MAYBE SHE HIT THE STABILITRAK BUTTON BY MISTAKE. A FEW DAYS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED. AFTER THIS INCIDENT IT HAPPENED EVEN MORE. I'VE BEEN READING BLOGS RE THIS AND E MAILED CHEVY, SAID IT WASN'T A RECALL..I DON'T KNOW WHY. THIS PROBLEM COULD KILL SOMEONE. I HAD IT FIXED AT THE CHEVY DEALER COSTING OVER $400. FROM WHAT I'VE READ I THINK THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED IN SOME EARLIER TRAVERSES. IT'S LIKE YOU PUT YOUR FOOT ON THE GAS AND THE CAR DOESN'T GO ANYWHERE. THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSY. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING!! THEY WILL WIND UP WITH LAWSUITS IF THIS ISN'T TAKEN CARE OF. AFTER E MAILING CHEVY I WAS TOLD SOMEONE FROM THE DEALER I HAD THE REPAIRS DONE AT WOULD CALL TO DISCUSS. THAT NEVER HAPPENED. I DID CALL THE DEALER MANY TIMES TO NO AVAIL.
DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS UP. THE CAR TELLS ME THAT THE "STABILITRACK NEEDS TO BE SERVICED" AND "REDUCING SPEED". THE CAR JUST SLOWS DOWN AND I CAN'T GO ABOVE 15 MPH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH CARS ALL AROUND ME DRIVING AT THE SAME SPEED. THANK GOD I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT AND GET OFF THE ROAD. I SHUT CAR OFF AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED CAR ON AND THE SYSTEM RESET ITSELF AND CAR WAS FINE. NOW ITS DOING IT AGAIN AS MY WIFE DROVE IT TODAY. RESEARCHING ONLINE, I SEE MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT! *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE FAST LANE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN AN ERROR MESSAGE STARTED FLASHING. IT STATED THAT I NEEDED TO HAVE MY STABILITY TRACK SERVICED. ABOUT 2 SECONDS LATER IT SAY THAT POWER WOULD BE REDUCED TO MY ENGINE AND THEN MY VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN IMMEDIATELY FROM ABOUT 65 MPH TO ABOUT 15 MPH. I HAD TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO GET TO THE SHOULDER. I WAS HORRIFIED AND PRAYED AND THANKED GOD THAT WE WERE NOT KILLED. I HAD MY DAUGHTER IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME. WE HAD TO WAIT ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TOW US THROUGH THE FORT MCHENRY TUNNEL TO SAFETY. THIS APPARENTLY IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. WHY HAVEN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE IF THIS PROBLEM ISN'T FIXED. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HWY AT 65 MPH I GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH THAT READ "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" THEN "SERVICE STABILITRACK" THEN "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY. THEN I LOST POWER AND WENT DRASTICALLY FROM 65 MPH DOWN TO ABOUT 40 MPH. I ALMOST GOT RAN OVER BY A SEMI TRUCK!! I PULLED VEHICLE TO THE SIDE AND SLOWLY MADE MY WAY TO THE NEAREST EXIT. ONCE I GOT OFF THE HWY I TRIED TO MAKE MY WAY BACK HOME, BUT THE POWER WAS REDUCED TO A CRAWL, SO I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND ENDED UP HAVING TO GET IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. THEY DIAGNOSED THE CAR AND FOUND NO MECHANICAL ISSUES, ONLY WHAT SEEMED TO BE A "GLITCH" IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM. SUGGESTED THAT I MAY NEED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. I PICKED UP MY CAR AND IT DROVE FINE FOR 5 DAYS THEN IT DID THE SAME THING AGAIN, LUCKILY I WAS IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. DROVE IT HOME AND PARKED IT. THE NEXT MORNING IT DROVE JUST FINE, NO ISSUES, AND TODAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAVE SPENT THE LAST FEW HOURS READING HUNDREDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO, AND FOUND THAT THEY ARE TAKING THEIR VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND GETTING PARTS REPLACED ONLY TO HAVE IT HAPPEN AGAIN AND THEN MORE PARTS REPLACED AND IT CONTINUES IN THIS CYCLE...
