DRIVING AT 65 MILES PER HOUR , THE TRUCK FEELS LIKE IT IS LOSING POWER , THE MORE GAS I GIVE IT DOES NOT MATTER. THE CONSOLE SAY THE STABILITY CONTROL IS OFF. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT. IT WENT FOR ABOUT 3 MILES AND CAME BACK ON AGAIN . IN RESEARCHING THIS SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT AS THIS DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE UNCOMMON. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I AM GLAD I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY (XXX) YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. WHILE TRAVELING ON LOCAL ROAD IN MY TOWN, I WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 30MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST POWER WITH SPEED BEING REDUCED. THANKFULLY, NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME SO I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL WHERE I WOULD STOP THE VEHICLE. I RETURNED TO MY HOUSE AND WENT ON LINE TO SEE WHAT THIS PROBLEM WAS AND SAW NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER TRAVERSE OWNERS WITH REGARDS TO THE SAME INCIDENT OCCURRING. FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN READING, CHEVROLET IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT DOESN'T SEEM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING ON MAJOR HIGHWAYS WHERE THE SPEED WAS MUCH GREATER THAN MINE AND THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS KILLED. CAR WILL BE GOING IN NEXT TUESDAY TO DEALER FOR HOPEFULLY CORRECTION OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE WAS MAKING AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE BATTERY FRACTURED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LEAK BEHIND THE GLOVE DEPARTMENT THAT LEAKED ONTO THE FUSE, WHICH CAUSED A WIRE SHORTAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.

TAKATA RECALL, AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE, RECALL NUMBER 14V266, FUEL GAUGE STOPS WORKING WHEN ITS COLD OUTSIDE, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOES NOT ROLE UP WITH THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROLS.
I WAS ON MY WAY THE CHEVY DEALER TO HAVE THE SAFETY BELT AND AIRBAG RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED ON MY 2011 TRAVERSE. I HAD FOUR CHILDREN AGES (XXX) AND UNDER IN THE CAR WITH ME. AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AT AN INTERSECTION I MADE A LEFT HAND TURN INTO THE INSIDE TRAFFIC LANE ON A BUSY 5 LANE ROAD AND BEGAN ACCELERATE TO THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC. AS SOON AS I REACHED 40 MPH, MY SPEED QUICKLY DROPPED TO BETWEEN 15 AND 20 MPH AND THE FOLLOWING WARNING MESSAGES SHOWED UP ON MY DASH: REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE STABILITRAC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO MERGE BACK OVER TO THE RIGHT LANE AND THEN COMPLETELY PULL OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT WITHOUT GETTING REAR-ENDED BY THE CARS BEHIND ME THAT WERE TRAVELING AT THE SPEED LIMIT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON, AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. THE MAXIMUM RATE OF SPEED MY CAR WOULD REACH WAS 20 MPH, BUT I MANAGED TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER TAKING BACK ROADS AND SUBDIVISION ROADS. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE GM VEHICLES AND A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK. AFTER TWO DAYS IN THE SHOP THEY COMPLETED THE TWO RECALL RELATED REPAIRS WITHOUT CHARGE, BUT MY COST TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND AND RESET THE IDLE WAS $513.00. I TOLD THE DEALER THAT I WAS AWARE THAT THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN AND WELL-DOCUMENTED ISSUE SO I DID NOT FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COSTS, BUT THEY REFUSED TO COVER ANY OF THE COST BECAUSE NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND GM SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL. USE REMOTE STARTER. AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF WARMING UP UNLOCKED AND ENTERED VEHICLE. ONCE KEY TURNED TO ON DOORS STARTED TO LOCK AND UNLOCK. PUT CAR IN REVERSE BARELY MOVED. TRIED DRIVE AND WOULD NOT MOVE? CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, STABILITY TRACK LIGHTS ARE ON. NOT GOOD WHEN YOU NEED TO GET TO WORK. *JS
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR AND MY CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN WENT INTO SAFE MODE AND DROPPED TO 10 MILES AN HOUR IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. I CAME VERY CLOSE TO BEING REAR ENDED BY THE CAR BEHIND ME AND I HAD TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD INTO LOOSE GRAVEL AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. I TOOK THE CAR TO HANK GRAFF CHEVROLET WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY HAD WENT OUT ALONG WITH THE RACK AND PINION. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $2500.00. I CALLED THE DETROIT ZONE OFFICE AND [XXX] TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING WOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EXCEPT FOR THE ALIGNMENT. I THEN RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE WRITER A FEW DAYS LATER AND WAS TOLD THAT GM WOULD NOT COVER IT. I TALKED TO THE ZONE OFFICE AGAIN AND ASKED WHY WOULDN'T THIS BE COVERED, IT IS A SAFETY ITEM AND OTHER TRAVERSES HAVE HAD RECALLS FOR THE THROTTLE BODY. I WAS TOLD SORRY MINE WAS NOT ONE OF THEM AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY. I FEEL THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS AS IT CAN CAUSE SOME MAJOR ACCIDENTS OR EVEN DEATHS IF THIS HAPPENS TO SOMEONE ELSE. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. MY CAR HAS ONLY 69000 MILES ON IT, WHY WOULD THESE PARTS FAIL AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY PREVIOUS REPAIRS DONE ON THIS VEHICLE. 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE IS HAVING FUEL GAUGE ISSUES. GM HAS A RECALL OUT ON 2014 MODELS, HOWEVER MY 2011 IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BUT NO RECALL FOR THAT YEAR. PER GM THIS CAN RESULT IN THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY RUNNING OUT OF FUEL AND STALLING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. *TR
THE PAINT ON THE HOOD IS BUBBLED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 YEARS AGO AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY HALF OF THE COST TO REPAINT. I DID NOT HAVE IT DONE. I HAVE RECENTLY FOUND OUT IT IS A PROBLEM FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THAT YEAR TRAVERSE.
STEERING WHEEL JERKED HARD TO THE RIGHT AT 60 MPH NEARLY COLLIDED WITH A BRIDGE IN HEAVY ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON TWO LANE ROAD. STEERING WHEEL JERKED SO HARD IT WAS ALL I COULD DO TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF MY CAR. I AM A LARGE MAN AND I ESTIMATE THE PULL ON THE STEERING WHEEL AT APPROXIMATELY 30 POUNDS AND IT TOOK BOTH OF MY HANDS TO CORRECT THE STEERING. EVENT LASTED LESS THAN ONE SECOND, I DID NOT NOTICE ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH INDICATING THE ACTIVATION OF STABILITY CONTROL OR TRACTION CONTROL. AFTER THIS EVENT MY WIFE TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD DROPPED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PREVIOUS DAYS AND JUST THOUGHT SHE WAS NOT USED TO THE WAY THIS NEW TO US VEHICLE DROVE, WE PURCHASED THIS CAR ON NOVEMBER 26, 2014. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT A INEXPERIENCED WOULD HAVE HAD A SERIOUS IF NOT FATAL ACCIDENT IN THIS SITUATION. ROAD CONDITIONS: NIGHT, DRY ASPHALT ROAD SURFACE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING FROM HAGERSTOWN MD. WHEN MY TRAVERSE WENT FROM ME DRIVING 70MPH. TO 35 MILES PH. IT PUT MY TRAVERSE IN LIMP MODE IT SHUT DOWN RIGHTWHEN IAM GETTING READY TO PASS I BARELY GOT OFF OF 81 SOUTH I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH POWER TO EVEN PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR SHUT DOWN TURNED OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL SLOWED THE ENGINE DOWN TO ALMOST A COMPLETE STOP. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING, I RECEIVED THREE MESSAGES ON MY VEHICLE: SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK AND ENGINE RUNNING AT REDUCED POWER. TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY FLUSHED OUT SOMETHING (I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT EXACTLY). IT RAN FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS THEN AS I WAS ON THE FREEWAY THE SAME MESSAGES APPEARED AND AS I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE UP A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE CAR'S SPEED WAS DECREASING EVEN THOUGH I WAS PUSHING ON THE GAS. LUCKILY I WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE AND THERE WAS LIGHT TRAFFIC OR THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR ACCIDENT AS I COULD NOT INCREASE SPEED. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO SAYS I NEED THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND IT WILL COST $600. AFTER LOOKING AT THIS SITE, I SEE THERE ARE MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE 54000 MILES- VEHICLE WHINING AT LOW SPEEDS, BECOMING DIFFICULT TO TURN AND AT TIMES LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM INDICATING A POWERSTEERING PUMP WOULD BE REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE ONLY IF I WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS, THIS WAS NOT A RECALL NOTIFICATION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE PUMP REPLACED. I WAS LATER CONTACTED BY THE DEALER TO BE INFORMED THAT MY POWER STEERING GEAR IS LEAKING AND I NEED A WHOLE NEW POWERSTEERING RACK AT THE COST OF $1400. I HAVE READ SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS, AND IF GM HAS IDENTIFIED A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP, THE ENTIRE POWER STEERING RACK SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL. *TR
WHEN IN REVERSE THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY TIGHT. IT WAS MAKING A SCREECHING NOISE AS THE WHEEL TURNED. IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO REVERSE OUT OF DRIVEWAY. ON ANOTHER INCIDENT, I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM. CALLING DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, SCARED TO DRIVE WITH MY FAMILY. *TR
ON AUGUST 6, 2014 WE HAD OUR VEHICLE SERVICED BY THE DEALER DUE TO AN AIRBAG RECALL AND AT THE TIME THE VEHICLE HAD 38,000 MILES. SHORTLY THERE AFTER WE NOTICED A GRINDING NOISE WHEN WE MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN. AT FIRST IT HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY BUT EVENTUALLY IT BECAME NOTICEABLE AT LOW RATES OF SPEED (5 - 10 MPH). TODAY WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE THIRD RECALL THIS BEING THE POWER STEERING PUMP. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THIS WAS COVERED BY GM BUT WE ALSO HAD A LEAK IN OUR RACK AND PINION AND IT WOULD COST $1200 TO REPAIR. WE INTEND TO FIGHT THIS SINCE IT APPEARS IT MAY BE LINKED TO THE STEERING RECALL. WE ALSO HAVE NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT HAS CUT A GROOVE INTO THE PLASTIC SEATBELT COVER NEAR THE SHOULDER HARNESS. WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT RELATED TO THE EARLIER SEAT BELT RECALL WHICH HAD BEEN SERVICED. THIS COULD EFFECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE SEAT BELT SYSTEM IF THE BELT GETS SNAGGED BY THE PLASTIC GROOVE WHICH HAS APPEARED. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD. *TR
I WAS ENTERING ONTO THE FREEWAY WHEN MY STABILITRACK TURNED OFF BY ITSELF AND MY ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED. I WAS VERY NEARLY REAR-ENDED AS MY CAR COULDN'T SAFELY ACCELERATE (ACCELERATE AT ALL REALLY) AS I WAS COMING ONTO THE FREEWAY. A SEARCH ON PROBLEMS SIMILAR TO THIS APPEARS VERY PREVALENT WITHIN THE CHEVY LINE OF VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY THE TRAVERSE. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE AND WAS VERY UNSAFE WHERE IT OCCURRED. IT ALMOST CAUSED. IT'S VERY DISAPPOINTING TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND CHEVY HASN'T ISSUED ANY KIND OF RECALL TO TRY AND FIX IT. *JS
WHILE DRIVING 2011 TRAVERSE THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE SERVICE THE STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE CAR COMPLETELY LOST ENGINE POWER. I WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT 2-3 MINUTES. RESTARTED THE CAR. DROVE A FEW MORE MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND HAPPENED AGAIN. NO POWER AT ALL IN THE ENGINE. COULD NOT ACCELERATE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED. WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE DEALER. WAS TOLD IT WAS A THROTTLE BODY CONTROL SYSTEM THAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. WHILE RESEARCHING ONLINE APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN PROBLEM AT GM DATING BACK TO THEIR 2004 MODELS. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BUT THE PROBLEMS CONTINUE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 65 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CARS DINGS AND STARTS FLASHING SERVICE STABILITRAK, ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. IT WAS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE CAR DROPPED FROM 65 MPH TO 20 MPH WITH NO WARNING! IT WAS INSTANT!!! I PUSHED THE ON-STAR BUTTON (AFTER PULLING OFF THE ROAD AN COLLECTING MYSELF BECAUSE I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED) AND ASKED THEM TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS. THEY TOLD ME THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. I NEEDED TO TURN IT OFF FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND IT WOULD RESET IT'S SELF. SO I DID AND IT DID! THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN 4 DAYS. I DID THAT! THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE GONE! THEY STATED IT WAS PROBABLY A GLITCH. SO I WENT ON MY WAY AFTER A FEW CHOICE WORDS (THIS WAS DANGEROUS!!!!!) IT HAS HAPPENED 8 MORE TIMES SINCE THEN! NOW TODAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON! I WILL TAKE THE CAR IN FIRST THING TOMORROW MORNING. I JUST CANNOT BELIEVE THERE HAS BEEN SO MANY ISSUES AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

STEERING BECOMES EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AT LOW SPEEDS. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE RACK AND PINION STEERING AND IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ONE EVENING. I JUST CAME OFF OF THE HIGHWAY, THEN THERE WAS CHIMES COMING FROM THE 2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE. THEN ON THE DASH READ TRACTION CONTROL OFF STABILITY CONTROL OFF SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE STABILITY CONTROL ENGINE POWER REDUCED. I WENT FORM 40 MPH TO 20MPH IN LESS THAN A SECOND. CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD TO STOP DRIVING IMMEDIATELY AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THEM. I GET A CALL THE NEXT MORNING REGARDING THE TRAVERSE AND AN ESTIMATE OF $230.00 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND CLEANING THE THROTTLE. CALLED BACK TO SEE IF THEY STILL WANTED TO SEE IT AND THEY SAID NO BECAUSE IT MUST HAVE JUST BEEN A SENSOR... APPT CANCELED. THURSDAY DROVE WITH NO PROBLEMS. NOW TODAY, FRIDAY, I HOP ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN CHICAGO TRAFFIC AND BAM RIGHT AS I AM MERGING, DING DING AND MY CAR JUST REVS AND WON'T GET UP PAST 40 MPH, ALL THE SAME SERVICE LIGHTS CAME ON. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED, I WAS DRIVING A HILLY BACK ROAD FROM SCHOOL THE SERVICE STABILITRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THEN THE ENGINE POWER IS BEING REDUCED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SLOWED TO A CRAWL WITH VERY LITTLE STEERING CONTROL. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT ON THE SHOULDER TO MY MECHANIC AT NO MORE THAN 20 MPH AND HE SAID THAT 4 OF THE 6 COILS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A $700 REPAIR. SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED (12/3/14) I WAS DRIVING ON I-95 DOING 65 AND ALL THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE CAR INSTANTLY REDUCED THE SPEED AND I WAS CRAWLING AT 10MPH. I HAD SEVERAL NEAR MISSES WITH OTHER CARS AS WE WERE ALL TRAVELING AT THE POSTED SPEED IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I STRUGGLED TO GET THE CAR TO THE SHOULDER. I STOPPED THE CAR AND RESTARTED AND EVERYTHING RESET AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR ABOUT A MILE OR TWO AND IT RECURRED. I HAPPENED 8 TIMES BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER. THE DEALER TOOK 3 DAYS TO TRY AND DIAGNOSE IT AND SAID IT WAS PROBABLY THE THROTTLE CONTROL. THEY REPLACED IT $493! AND TOLD ME THEY DID NOT KNOW IF IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM - IT MAY LAST 1,000 MILES OR 20,000 MILES. IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN I WILL HAVE TO BRING IT BACK AND THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE APART THE ENGINE WHICH WOULD COST ME $5000!!! THIS CAR IS UNSAFE! WHILE BACKING UP AT A VERY LOW SPEED THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, I THEN REALIZED THE ENGINE HAD SHUT OFF. I NOTED THE KEY WAS STILL IN THE ON POSITION AND THE BACK UP CAMERA WAS STILL ON. ALSO BACK UP CAMERA WOULD ONLY STAY ON IF THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND IN REVERSE SO IT IS UNCLEAR WHY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WITH THE KEY IN THE ON POSITION. HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH IT OVER THE PAST 2 YEARS. WINDOWS HAVE STOPPED WORKING NUMEROUS TIMES, MIRRORS AS WELL. AND TO BOOT, THEY SUGGESTED I PAY 1200-1500 TO FIX THE VEHICLE. AGAIN I STRESS, THE MONEY ISN'T THE BIGGEST ISSUE, I'M CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE.
THE ABS AND TRAC CONTROL LIGHTS HAVE BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF FOR ABOUT A MONTH. FRIDAY AUG, 29 2014, WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AROUND TOWN THE STOP LIGHT TURNED AND SHE WENT TO STOP LIKE NORMAL, THE PEDAL ACTED LIKE IT WAS SLICK, THE ABS WAS TRYING TO COME ON. WHEN IT DID THAT THE PEDAL WENT CLEAR TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR DID STOP BUT SHE IS A GOOD DRIVER SO NO ACCIDENT HAPPENED THANKFULLY. I CAN SEE HOW THIS CAN POSSIBLY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPLACED A WHEEL SENSOR AND SAID IT WAS FIXED, $187. WE LEFT THE SHOP AND WENT ABOUT A BLOCK TO THE FIRST STOPLIGHT AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN SO WE TURNED AROUND AND WENT BACK. THEY WORKED ON IT FOR 3 MORE HOURS AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING AND WOULD HAVE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE UNTIL THEY COULD TALK TO GM ENGINEERS. TODAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THEM AND IT WAS FIXED. THE WIFE WENT TO PICK IT UP AND THE BROUGHT IT AROUND TO HER AND SAID "HERE YOU GO", SHE GOT IN AND THE ABS LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN. SHE DIDN'T EVEN LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP, WENT BACK IN AND TOLD THEM IT IS MESSING UP AGAIN, SO SHE HAD TO LEAVE IT THERE AGAIN. LUCKILY SO FAR I HAVEN'T HAD TO PAY ANYTHING MORE, BUT IT OBVIOUSLY ISN'T FIXED YET. AS MANY OTHER PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE YOU'D THINK GM WOULD DO A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. WHAT REALLY MAKES ME MAD IS THAT WE DON'T EVEN HAVE 80000 MILES ON THIS THING. IF THEY CAN'T BUILD ANYTHING BETTER I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO SWITCH TO A FORD OR CHRYSLER OR MAYBE EVEN KIA. *TR
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING CAUSED BY LOSS OF POWER STEERING FLUID. LOST CONTROL OF STEERING, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED-UP. FORTUNATELY TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT AT THE TIME AND WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN TO STOP IN A CONTROLLED MANNER. UPON INSPECTION, FOUND SIGNIFICANT PUDDLE OF STEERING FLUID UNDER THE CAR. APPEARS TO BE A SUDDEN FAILURE, NOT A SLOW LEAK BASED ON AMOUNT OF FLUID LOSS AT THE TIME OF THE PROBLEM. RESTARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY MAKE IT HOME WITH NO POWER STEERING, STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IF THIS HAPPENS AT HIGHER SPEED IN A BUSY TRAFFIC. FOUND MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN VARIOUS OWNER FORUMS ONLINE. WAITING FOR A DEALER APPOINTMENT TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT'S THE PUMP, GEAR OR FLUID LINES THAT CAUSED THE LOSS OF STEERING FLUID. *TR
WHILE PARKING DURING THE TURN INTO THE PARKING PLACE, THE POWER STEERING CEASED TO FUNCTION. HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN PULLING OUT OR TURNING AT LOW SPEED THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING. IT WILL COME BACK IF STOP OR SOMETIMES ON ACCELERATION. HAD IT CHECKED BY MECHANIC AND THEY COULD NOT TELL WHAT IT WAS AND JUST DID THE BLANKET YOU SHOULD TRY TO REPLACE THE WHOLE RACK AND PUMP ASSEMBLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,700.
