I would like to file a complaint about the amount of time to fix recall 23V334. I received notice in June 2023 and is now October 2023 for a recall that can "result in injury or death to vehicle occupants."
My name is [XXX] and I live in Plainsboro NJ. I own a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. I received a letter from General Motors letting me know about a recall in June (attached). The letter states that it is a Safety Recall having to do with the driver side airbag which may contain a supplier manufacturing defect that may result in an inflator rupture during deployment. It goes on to say that the inflator rupture may cause metal fragments to pass through the airbag and into the vehicle which may result in injury or death. I contacted our dealer Ciocca Chevrolet of Princeton and told them I received this recall letter. They said they did not have the parts, but when the parts came in, I would be notified. I called the number on the recall letter to ask when the parts would come in and they told me I would be notified. Since June I have reached out to both GM and the Dealership and both continue to say they will notify me when the parts came in. It is now four months and GM continues to tell me that they don't know when the parts are coming in. I have been driving an unsafe car. GM says they are not loaning cars or providing rentals for this recall. I find this unacceptable and need help getting this resolved. Please respond to this email as soon as possible. I have been very lucky till now that nothing has happened and I continue to pray that nothing will happen. However, I do not have another choice but risk of driving my car on a daily basis since I need to drive to work. Below is the description of what has happened...... Product Safety Recall - Driver Front Airbag Inflator May Rupture One of the front airbag inflators in my vehicle was produced by Takata. Takata has advised the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that without a chemical drying agent, prolonged exposure to heat and humidity can degrade the chemical propellant used in this airbag inflator. In time, if the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflator may rupture when the airbag deploys during a crash event. If this happens, sharp metal fragments could pass through the airbag, striking you or your loved ones, causing serious or fatal injuries. Answers to your general guideline questions (see below) 1. It is available for inspection at any time. 2. The safety issue putting my husband, daughter, son-in-law, twin granddaughters, friends and myself at risk are the defective airbags with serious to fatal injuries. 3. Yes, the problem has been confirmed by NHTSA, Takata, GM and a Chevrolet dealer. 4. No individual from NHTSA, Takata, GM or a Chevrolet dealer have asked to investigate my vehicle, but they all have advised it is on recall. I've also been advised the parts are not available for the recall repair and no one has an answer to when that will be. 5. My best assessment of the situation is every time I drive my vehicle I am putting myself, my beloved family and friends at risk of serious to fatal injuries and the cause of this is my recalled vehicle has not been repaired due to the fact no parts to repair it are available now or I'm guessing in the near future. GM describes it as an urgent safety recall and yet there has been no urgency in resolving the issues for serious and fatal injuries.
Airbag recall since May of 2023 issued for my 2015 Chevy Traverse. No one is taking the matter seriously or helping figure out a solution to this serious safety issue.

I am writing this reporting on the active NHTSA Recall Number 23V334, which includes my vehicle. As per the NHTSA's site, an online complaint can be filed if the manufacturer is unable to remedy this safety recall for the vehicle in a timely manner. The recall was issued on May 10, 2023. Today it is February 2, 2024, and is almost a year since the notice. This amount of time for a safety defect that could result in "injury or death to vehicle occupants" is completely unacceptable. Our family purchased this vehicle in 2015 after the birth of our 2nd child. We chose a Chevrolet Traverse because at the time, it had one of the highest safety ratings for an SUV on the market. This is the number one requirement we have when purchasing a vehicle, and we did so with our growing family in mind. Every single day, I navigate snowy, icy, treacherous roads in Alaska with my three young children - ages 6, 8, and 10, in the vehicle along with their friends . I also suffer from anxiety. The stress and anxiety that this recall has put on my life as it threatens my family on a daily basis is intolerable and needs to be resolved. We have discussed selling the vehicle to purchase something safer as we continue to wait on the resolution, but we will be unable to sell the vehicle to a dealer due to the recall. Additionally, we refuse to sell to another family or driver due to the ethical issues that would arise with this. We also would face a significant financial shortfall by not receiving the necessary return on investment of our purchase due to this defect. I understand that there need to be parts available for the remedy, but given the scope of this issue, all further manufacturing of airbags or focus on other issues should be put on hold until the parts are manufactured to resolve this safety issue. As an oversight body, please put pressure on GM to resolve this issue immediately, and allow families to go back to living their fullest lives without fear of death.

There has been a recall for my 2015 traverse for months and still NO REMEDY AVAILABLE. I’m trying to get this fixed before anything happens and dealership states Manufacture still has no remedy, therefore they can’t fix recall.

All I did was take it to get new rear calipers and an alignment and when I left the shop I got a light on the dashboard that says service traction control service stabilitrak and sometimes the abs goes on and off and sometimes the airbag light comes on and turns off. I can't drive over 1.5rpm and it's jumping when trying to accelerate. I'm not getting codes. I changed the brake pedal sensor to see if that works but no. Mechanic can't seem to figure out the issue without me spending more and more money on it. I've only had it roughly a year and half. I've put alot of money into this vehichle.

While driving at various speeds, the check engine light, service stabilitrack, and service traction control warning lights came on. Vehicle went into limp mode. Independent mechanic said ongoing issue with Chevy and carbon build up in the throttle body. It will keep happening due to flawed system. Dealer denied but keeps happening
On March 4, 2023, I purchased a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse from Landers Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram located in Norman, Oklahoma. Before actually purchasing the vehicle and after inspection it was stated to the dealership that the [XXX] would not purchase the vehicle with the various problems notated before purchase. After receiving a verbal agreement that the problems would be fixed my wife and I signed the contract. My wife and I took the car to Lawton Oklahoma from Mach 4 to March 8 when we were to return the vehicle for repairs. Then on March 17, 2023, we picked the vehicle up from Landers after repairs. After leaving Landers Chrysler and then getting onto HE Bailey Turnpike the vehicle’s check engine light came back on, and the passenger headlight was out again. However, on March 20, 2023, [XXX] wrote a letter to Landers Chrysler with several complaints which needed to be rectified. •RE: Failure to disclose material information, and/or making a false representation of a present or past material fact such as a diagnostic trouble code: (Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold [possible needed repairs] 2015 Chevrolet Traverse) known to dealer, and by the dealer’s failing to disclose such information involving the vehicle's history to a recent purchaser, and Lending Institution. Landers Chrysler did fix the problem with the check engine light, but refused to fix the front headlight problem, and told the [XXX] that since they had a service contract, that should cover the headlight situation. However, that is not the case. The service contract does not cover headlight problems, and Classic Chevrolet where the vehicle is now located wants to charge me over $2000 to fix the problem. Although my wife and I thought that the headlight was fixed, it was later learned that it was not. I sincerely believe that Landers Chrysler knew that the headlights and possibly light switches had serious problems, then sold the vehicle knowing this. wHEN IT RAIN, WATER IS GETTING INTO MY CAR FROM SOMEWHERE. IT HAS KNOCKED OUT MY DASHBOARD AND MY RADIO NO LONGER WORKS.THE WATER GETS IN TO THE FRONT PART OF THE CAR AND END UP IN MY FRONT MIDDLE CONSOLE. NO BODY CAN TELL WHERE THE LEAK IS COMING FROM NOR EXPLAIN HOW IT GET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CUP HOLDER AND FLOODING MY FLOOR AND SEAT. NOTHING IS SHOWING ON MY DASHBOARD OR THE MILES DISPLAYED. I NEED HELP TO STOP THIS DEFECT.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the check engine warning light had illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,300.
The safety recall for the air bags have not been repaired yet. Last time I called the dealership they had no clue when the repair parts would be available. I was notified back in 2022 about this issue with no communication from Chevy.
When driving during rain, the ABS light came on due to wet conditions and reduced my driving speed ability, and created difficulty for traffic and for my family on the highway. This of which made me have to pull off to the side of the road and try to travel 40 minutes to a safe destination at a very slow speed while my vehicle was difficult to drive. Once parked overnight at a hotel it was okay to drive but created a very dangerous situation on the roadways. I wasn't sure that I could drive it in the morning and was hundreds of miles from home. Another situation is when my LED dash lights go out or become nearly invisible. I can't read anything on the dashboard that displays mileage or anything else. Can make it difficult for driving and safety concerns. Also, my blind spot detection quit working and has caused problems detecting cars and anything else while driving or backing up. Another issue is my side airbag came open by itself but has not launched (thankfully). I cannot repair it on my own. These are expensive issues. I had already replaced all of my tires due to the tires that had been on it kept going flat and the sensors stopped working.
255 65R18 111T. THE TIRES THREAD ARE SEPERATING FROM THE TIRES on the front driver and passenger side. IT LOOKS LIKE THREAD THAT HAS BEEN PULLED AND IT CAUSES SEPARATION. I HAD IT INSPECTED BY MY MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT IT IS UNSAFE FOR ME ME TO BE DRIVING AND THE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT IT IS A DEFECT IN THE TIRES . THE WARNING LIGHT ON MY VECHICLE SAYS TIRE MONITOR AND PRESSURE BUT NOTHING ELSE
My seat belt broke off, the cables that holds it together just broke and this is something not sure how it would happen.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the check engine, traction control, and stability control warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle then stalled and lost motive power. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle continued to operate normally. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic stated that the ignition switch and the throttle body sensor needed to be replaced. The ignition was replaced but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 74,000.
Service air bag light came on upon starting the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate. The contact stated that no warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that before going to the dealer her spouse replaced the battery and all the spark plugs however, the failure continued. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.
The plastic casing that keeps the seat belt in place on a rear seatbelt broke apart making the seatbelt unusable. A child's carseat was moved to the other side when I Seen that the plastic was also cracked on that one making it unusable. There has been no incidents because I won't put a child in my car. There has not been any kind of inspection done yet.
on my vehicle the Electrical system in the Drivers door and All 4 doors have connector connecting the doors electrical to the main Body harness. These connectors DO NOT HAVE a gasket or any means of sealing out the weather, This connector rides between door and body between the Hinges and is exposed to weather and Road Conditions. This Connector not being weather Proofed has rotted and shorted/Corroded pins. This failure of the Pins has disabled all electrical function controlled from the Driver door. 1. Driver is unable to adjust Power mirrors. 2. Driver is unable to lock or unlock other doors. 3. Driver is unable to Disable Other passengers ability to open or close ANY power windows 4. Driver is unable to open/close Drivers window and or Passenger windows. (ie child opens) 5. Driver is unable to Open or close any power windows. 6. Should driver manually lock Driver Door and become incapacitated in any way, Driver Door lock does not respond to Lock/UN-Lock form other doors or computer. I recently bought this vehicle in a private sale, Previous owner did point out window buttons not working, I believe was unaware of the other Door Controls not functioning, was un-aware of functions not working. Searching on google has reviled this issue to me on wide range of years and makes for Chevy/GMC
