VISIBILITY DROPS DRAMATICALLY TO LOW BEAM , IT IS TERRIBLE AT NIGHT IN RAIN.I HAVE TO BRAKE WHEN ONCOMING CARS APPROACH,ALMOST TO A STOP.HIGH BEAMS VERY BRIGHT GLARE FROM ROAD SIGNS.IT TAKES A FEW SECONDS TO ADJUST FROM HIGH BEAM TO LOW BEAM,VERY DANGEROUS .THIS HAPPENS WHEN NIGHT DRIVING ON ALL ROADS.HAPPENS IN ALL RAIN CONDITIONS.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP (CANNOT TURN) WHILE DRIVING.
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2016 CHEVY TRAX ON 10/31/16. ONE WEEK LATER, I WENT INTO THE GARAGE, GOT INTO MY NEW CAR WHICH STATED RIGHT AWAY BUT I HAD NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS SO I HAD NO IDEA WHAT SPEED I WAS TRAVELING. I HAD NO RADIO OR REAR CAMERA BACK UP. I HAD NO ONSTAR SERVICE OR TELEPHONE SERVICE. THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED WAS MY HEATER. WHEN I TURNED MY TURN SIGNAL ON TO MAKE A TURN I COULDN'T HEAR IT CLICKING BUT COULD SEE THE REFLECTION OF THE FLASHING FRONT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT ON THE BUMPER IN FRONT OF ME AS WELL AS MY HEADLIGHTS SHINING ON THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. EVERYTHING ON THE INSIDE WAS DARK EXCEPT THE LIGHTS ON THE HEATER/AC UNIT AND THE HEATER WORKED FINE. SINCE THEN, I HAVE GONE INTO MY GARAGE ON THREE MORE OCCASIONS TO DRIVE MY NEW 2016 CHEVY TRAX ONLY TO FIND THE SAME PROBLEM - NO ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, WAS 11/20/16, 2 WEEKS AFTER THE FIRST TIME. I DROVE TO AND FROM MY HOUSE TO A LOCAL RESTAURANT ABOUT 5 MILES AWAY FOR DINNER WITH NO DASHBOARD LIGHTS, ONSTAR SERVICE, BACK UP CAMERA, RADIO OR PHONE SERVICE. AFTER WE GOT HOME THAT EVENING I KEPT CHECKING MY CAR TO SEE IF IT WAS WORKING YET AND SEVERAL HOURS LATER THE LIGHTS FINALLY CAME ON WHEN I OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE 3RD TIME WAS ON 12./10/16 AND MY FRIEND WHO I DROVE FROM MY HOUSE ABOUT 3 MILES TO PICK UP RECORDED ME DRIVING THE TRAX WITHOUT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS, ETC WORKING. WE MADE A RIGHT TURN AT THE END OF HIS STREET AND EVERYTHING LIT UP AND STARTED WORKING AGAIN. THE 4TH TIME WAS ON 12/24/16 TWO DAYS AFTER THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT THE TRAX AT SUPPOSEDLY "FIXED" IT. I'VE HAD 3 SERVICE CALLS AT 2 CHEVY DEALERS AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT FIXED. THERE IS NO RHYME OR REASON AS TO WHEN IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK AND NO ONE THING OR TIME FRAME AS TO WHEN IT DECIDES IT IS GOING TO WORK AGAIN. *TR

The contact stated that while his wife was seated in the front passenger’s side seat, the passenger’s side air bag warning light indicated that the air bag system was turned off and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 7,305.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET TRAX. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST BRAKE FUNCTIONALITY AND WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,500. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THIS BRAND NEW CAR, THE BRAKES STARTED SQUEALING WHEN STOPPING. I TOKE IN TO LAWRENCE HALL CHEVROLET ABILENE, TEXAS, THEY COULDN'T RECREATE THE NOISE. SO I MADE SEVERAL VIDEOS OF THIS AND SHOWED AND EMAILED TO LHC. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND PROBLEMS. 4 SERVICE CALLS LATER , THEY SAID THEY WILL REGREASE THE BRAKES. THAT HELPED A LITTLE. NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS DOWN TO THE METAL WHEN I STOP.
WE HAD A PROBLEM SHIFTING GEARS. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE IN MOVING AT VERY SLOW SPEED (0-3MPH) IN A PARKING SPOT (IN A LOT), MOVING FORWARD AND BACK WHILE DEMONSTRATING THE USE OF THE CAR, WITH A RENTED CHEVY TRAX 2016 MODEL WHICH HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY RENTED BY THE TIME WE ACQUIRED IT. FIRST, WE WERE ABLE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE AND MOVE THE CAR IN REVERSE. NEXT WE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE IN REVERSE. WHILE THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN, WE TRIED NUMEROUS TIMES TO SHIFT AND RE-SHIFT INTO DRIVE BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE IN REVERSE. FINALLY, WE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF, RESTARTED, AGGRESSIVELY SHIFTED INTO DRIVE AND WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE CAR FORWARD. WE DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR ON OPEN ROAD UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO RETURN THE RENTAL. WE PAID FOR A RENTAL WE DID NOT WANT TO USE. *TR
WE HAD AN SINGLE CAR CRASH. THE CAR WENT OVER A CURB AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT AND [XXX] NEAR TOOK OUT A WOODEN WALK WAY WITH PEOPLE NEAR BY ON THE WALKWAY IT ENDED UP TOTALING ($20,000 IN DAMAGE ) OUR BRAND NEW CHEVY TRAX 2016. AND WHEN ALL 11.......... AIRBAGS RIGHT 11 AIRBAGS AND NOT ONE WHEN OFF AND WE BOTH HAD SEAT BELT ON BUT I STILL MANAGED TO HIT MY HEAD SO HARD I HAD AN SMALL INDENT IN MY HEAD AND U WOULD THINK BRAND NEW CAR AND 11 AIR BAGS U THINK YOU WOULD B SAVE ....?? TRAX HAS SQUEAKY AND SQUEALING BRAKES EVERY TIME BRAKES ARE APPLIED. THIS NOISE STARTED OFF EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, NOW IS A CONSISTENT HEADACHE. TOOK TO DEALER SERICE AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG, OK SQUEALING BRAKES AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG... ALL THEY COULD COME UP WITH IS THAT ALL VEHICLES DO THAT IF IT SITS FOR LONG PERIODS. THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN EVERY DAY. CHEVROLET MUST REALLY THINK IT'S CUSTOMERS ARE REALLY STUPID. I HAVE OWNED LOTS OF VEHICLE'S IN MY LIFE AND HAVE NOT ONCE RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM. I AM A FIRST TIME CHEVROLET PURCHASE CUSTOMER, IF AND WHEN THIS PROBLEM GETS RESOLVED I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVROLET PRODUCT AGAIN.
MY MOM PURCHASED A 2016 CHEVY TRAX FOR ME AT CHEVROLET OF HOMEWOOD, 18033 S. HALSTED, HOMEWOOD, IL ON 6/13/16 UNDER HER NAME. WITHIN THE 1ST WEEK OF PURCHASE THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING WHILE IN MOTION. AFTER THE 2ND WEEK THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING LOUDLY AS ONLOOKERS RESPONDED TO THE NOISE THEY SAY WERE COMING FROM THE BACK BRAKES. I TOOK THE CAR TO CHEVROLET OF HOMEWOOD ON JULY 7, 2016 FOR BRAKE INSPECTION. SERVICE TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, HEARD THE NOISE FROM BRAKES BUT SAID IT WAS NORMAL. ON 7/10/16, THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING SO BADLY I TOOK MY CAR TO FIRESTONE ON ELSTON & ADDISON IN CHICAGO, FOR A VEHICLE INSPECTION. FIRESTONE NOTED THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING & TOLD ME TO TAKE THE TRAX BACK TO THE DEALER AS THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING ALL THE TIME. I EMAILED CEO MARY BARRA ON 7/22/16 TO COMPLAIN & SHE SET ME UP WITH ANTOINETTE BAKER UNDER CASE# 8-2249264993, WHO WORKED WITH ME UNTIL 7/27/16, & WITHOUT NOTICE TURNED ME ON TO GM'S LEGAL NICOLE RODELLA. ON 10/27/16 @ 11:03AM NICOLE RODELLA, CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT GM WAS GATHERING INFORMATION FROM DEALER TO DETERMINE MY CLAIM & SHE WOULD CALL ME IN A FEW DAYS. ON 11/15/16, NICOLE CALLED TELLING ME SHE NEEDED AN AFFIDAVIT FROM MY MOM TO FURTHER DISCUSS MY COMPLAINT. I ASKED TO SPEAK TO HER SUPERVISOR. GM'S MS. BARBER (SUPV.) TOLD ME MY MOM NEEDED TO SIGN AN AFFIDAVIT FOR THEM TO DEAL WITH ME RE: THE COMPLAINT, ALTHOUGH BOTH NAMES ARE ON GM'S PAPERWORK. I SENT BARBER DEALER PAPERWORK WITH BOTH NAMES OF ME AND MOM, & BARBARA SAID THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH ON 11/15/16. BARBER TOLD ME SHE WOULD HAVE NICHOLE GET PAPERWORK FROM DEALER & CALL ME BACK ON 11/16/16 & NEVER DID. I CALLED BARBER BACK ON 11/16/16, LEFT MESSAGE & SHE HAS NOT RESPONDED. ATTACHED IS SOUND OF BRAKES. I AM REQUESTING TO BE PUT IN A NEW VEHICLE OR THAT GM PAY OFF TRAX IMMEDIATELY.
TAKATA RECALL [PURCHASED A 2016 CHEVY TRAX AT CHEVROLET OF HOMEWOOD 18033 S. HALSTED, HOMEWOOD, ILLINOIS ON JUNE 13, 2016 FOR MY DAUGHTER. WITHIN THE FIRST WEEK OF PURCHASE THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING. AFTER ABOUT THE SECOND WEEK THE BRAKES BEGAN SQUEAKING LOUD. SOME ONLOOKERS NOTED THAT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE BACK BRAKES. MY DAUGHTER TOOK THE CAR BACK TO CHEVROLET OF HOMEWOOD ON JULY 7, 2016 FOR BRAKE INSPECTION. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TEST DROVE THE VEHICLES HEARD THE BRAKE NOISE BUT SAID THEY FOUND NO PROBLEM. ON 7/10/16, THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING SO LOUD UNTIL MY DAUGHTER TOOK THE CHEVY TRAX TO FIRESTONE ON ELSTON & ADDISON IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS FOR A COMPLETE VEHICLE INSPECTION. FIRESTONE NOTED THE BRAKES WERE SQUEAKING AND SUGGESTED MY DAUGHTER TAKE THE CHEVY TRAX BACK TO THE DEALER. THE SOUND IS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WHEN COMING TO A STOP.
WHILE SETTING OR CHANGING THE SPEED USING THE CRUISE CONTROL PANEL STEERING WHEEL, THE CURRENT SPEED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL IS SET TO DOES NOT DISPLAY ANYWHERE. THIS LEADS TO UNWANTED OR UNKNOWN SPEED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS LEADS TO UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. PROPER ANNUNCIATION OF SET SPEED IS NECESSARY FOR SAFE OPERATION. THE DRIVERS MANUAL FOR THIS VECHICLE DOES STATE THAT IT SHOULD DISPLAY THE SET SPEED (PAGE 221) MULTIPLE VEHICLES AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WERE TESTED AND NO VEHICLE DISPLAYED THE SET CRUISE SPEED. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OTHER CHEVROLET VECHICLE (2014 CRUZE AND VOLT) THAT DO MOMENTARILY DISPLAY THE SET SPEED TO THE DRIVER
I have had replaced the valve cover 4 times already about ever 3 months or so and it is starting to chirp and act up by lagging and jumping on acceleration. My mother is [XXX] old and does not drive it hard or in excess. The 1st was in summer of 2024 the 2nd was December 2024 3rd was april 2025 4th November 2025 and it just started chirping again & its jyst now February. This is absolutely ridiculous. Ther are so many more things wrong with this car. Most of those are on the dealerships & their lies about this car are completely at fault; Unfortunately, they went out of business 2 weeks after my mother got the car. We found this news out when I brought it up to them to explain why her touch screen for the radio no longer responded.
