Wiper blades are falling apart, less than a year old. No generic store brand will fit bracket and all wiper blades replacements are on back order.
Check engine light came on 5/22/25 sitting idle when I went on lunch at 1:00 pm. I left work and came home at 5:00 pm and made it home safely not sure what the failure is yet I will call the dealer in the morning. Car only has 28,000 miles on it and should not already be having engine issues. Also has dramatic drop in gas mileage.
My engine suffered catastrophic engine failure with less than 14,000 miles. I was travelling at highway speeds on a busy highway in rush hour. I heard what sounded like an explosion, lost all power, and had to steer across two lanes where I just made it onto the shoulder of the highway. The car was towed to the dealer who confirmed the catastrophic engine failure. There was absolutely no warning, no warning lights, no messages at all, I was driving and heard what sounded like an explosion and lost all power.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to pull over to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the engine and observed a crack on the engine block. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that the rubber trim had detached from the front windshield wipers. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer, who confirmed the parts were on backorder. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000. The VIN was not available.
My car shuts down completely and everything goes black while I’m driving. Did it twice while I was driving on a busy highway. I almost got hit twice.
At random times and unexpectedly, my Onstar system drops completely, resulting in Onstar losing communication with my vehicle. This creates a hazard, as I am at risk of being in a collision and Onstar not being able to be notified
Started car four times with no dashboard lights. The screen was blocked out. No speedometer or anything just black.
The contact owned a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while his girlfriend was driving through an intersection at 20 MPH, another vehicle ran a red light and crashed into the vehicle, causing a T-bone impact. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The other driver was treated for an arm injury(arm unknown) by paramedics on the scene. The next morning, the contact's girlfriend went to a doctor, where she was treated for both back and neck pain. A police report was filed, and no property damage was reported. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was deemed a total loss. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Electronic dashboard goes out while driving often and the radio. This has happened on several occasions. This is not safe for my teens.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument cluster failed to function as intended. The contact stated that the instrument cluster displayed a black screen. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the instrument cluster software was updated in 2023 under an unknown recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 37,357.
Sunroof keeps popping up when trying to close it, the radio defaults to original settings and won’t play will only play Apple CarPlay. And the instrument panel was black while driving.
Wipers from the dealer are on back order in some cases and in the cases that they do have they they are trash wipers streaks and smears that just block visibility in snow and heavy rain additionally the arm attachment is completely different than any wiper attachment so you cannot get wipers from any auto part stores
While driving vehicle on the Interstate without warning the engine failed. When this occurred the vehicle was being driven at 65 MHP and a strong vibration began that was felt through the steering wheel. Additionally, the vehicle was in the inside lane and had to be maneuvered to get over and to the shoulder. The vehicle was towed to the dealership that it was purchased from which was approximately 150 miles from the breakdown. Dealer indicates a similar issue which I just read about today regarding a Chevy vehicle recall for bearings/cylinder issue. I am submitting this as I believe this recent recall that was announced may involve more Chevy models than were listed. We have been without the vehicle for over 2 months at this time. We have been informed that there are no engines available. This could also be tied to the other engine issue.
I was in a auto accident where I was hit at a high speed on my passenger front side resulting in my airbags to deploy along with my seatbelt failing to hold me in the seat where the seatbelt became fully extended and unlatched and won’t retract back into place resulting in me having a perforated small intestine and colon damage. I had to have trauma surgery to repair my small intestine where I had 22 staples in my stomach and a hospital stay of 5 days as a result. Vehicle has not been inspected by an inspector, but was inspected by adjuster with auto insurance which stated they felt the seatbelt failed. A lawyer wouldn’t take the case to look further into the vehicle. The vehicle was on hold with the insurance agency but will be released for auction shortly. Since purchasing the vehicle, there has been numerous issues, including driver side window, not rolling down radio staying on while the car is shut off and door open and Bluetooth issue along with jerking of vehicle in motion.
OEM windshield wipers are failing after only 7000 miles of light use. Wipers smear the water across windshield making visibility extremely poor. There are zero compatible aftermarket wipers that fit the wiper arm. I have visited 3 auto parts stores and none fit. OEM replacements from dealerships are on long back order. I either have to try to use wipers that may fly off during use because the proprietary wiper arm design isn’t compatible with any aftermarket wipers or wait months for another set of poor quality OEM wipers.
My touch screen and odometer. They periodically go black while driving . This is a safety hazard to me and my family . Yes this affects the safety of my family due to the screens over heating and going black where I can’t see speed or anything . Yes the car has been taken to dealer ship for many issues I have had .no it has not only the dealership .no signals at all
The contact's father owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left, she observed a noise emanating from under the vehicle that sounded like loose gravel, and she observed smoke outside of the "turn off ignition" message displayed. The contact stated that she observed white/grey smoke coming through the vents in the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was turned off, and when the contact exited the vehicle, she observed fire under the engine compartment, and the fire spread rapidly. The fire department distinguished the fire. The police reported the incident, but there was no report taken. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it was deemed inoperable. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure was 7,696.
An air duct above the brake pedal came loose from the heater and dropped down over the pedals. My wife said she could not get the car to stop at an intersection. The car rolled to a stop in the middle of the road and she could not get it to go as the accelerator was also blocked. A police officer pushed it off the road.
There are NO wiper blades available for the 2025 Chevy Trax. It utilizes a unique and propertiary wiper arm that accepts no brand of commercially available wiper blades and the OEM Wiper Blades have been "Sold Out" as long as the vehicle has been available. I've been reduced to using a wiper blade sharpener and universal wiper blade refills just to maintain basic visibility in rainy conditions. Multiple 2025 Trax owners are reporting this issue online: [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
Infotainment and dashboard system lags, freezes, loses connection and completely blacks out while a device connects to the vehicles WiFi.
On Tues 11/19/24, my son left home about 10 mins prior headed back to school in our 2024 Chevy Trax purchased in 5/2023. On his way to school, he and his friend heard a loud pop sound, followed by all the lights on the instrument panel flickering like crazy, smoke coming from under the hood, and then the car slowing to a stop, still in the road. Luckily they were able to get out because all the doors, except the driver door, locked including the trunk. The smoke got worse until it caught on fire. Good Samaritans stopped to help my 17 yo son and his friend and there was an off duty responder that turned around to put out the fire with the extinguisher he had on him, ahead of the fire department arriving on scene. This could have been very detrimental and had a very different outcome and GM/Chevy need to make sure this doesn’t happen to another family. This car was serviced and had very low mileage of less than 12k in 1.5years.
Brake System malfunctioned. Brakes making horrible grinding noise at 25000 miles. Took to dealership under warranty and was told "that is just the sound that GM brakes make" and they refused warranty repair. Assured noise wouldnt worse, but continued. Paid to have brakes replaced and the SAME exact noise continues today. Brake fluid leaked everywhere and totally disabled the entire braking system while driving on the interstate. When the brakes went out, i loss power and it was difficult to steer. Tried receiving assistance from Chevrolet on many occasions until i gave up Car flashed a message suggesting vehicle was experiencing loss of power while driving down interstate, cleared the message and vehicle power remains weak. Code suggested turbo was going out. Car honks 2-3-4 times while in park only 5 minutes. Oil has to be changed constantly. Last oil change took 2 weeks before now having only 81% oil life. Forward collision warning warns when nothing is in front or around you. Lane keeping assistance cuts in and out and doesn't always work. Backup camera shows upside down often, and distorted. ECM warranty reset has been completed. Lane departure warning signals hazard where there is none and sometimes lane keeping assistance disallows me to remain in the middle of my lane so i have to cut it off. interior and exterior lights and radio have remained on for hours after locking vehicle and going inside my house.
Currently the Intrument Cluster and the Infotainment screens reboots roughly every 60 seconds. The screens would go black then reboots. Would temporary loose speed indicator as well as all other functions.
My wife was driving to work and a car cut in front of her stopped for some weird reason on a green light and with the automatic braking the car stopped and was driving 20mph to 0 mph this was not i deal for the emergency braking and this should slow your car but not violently brake my daughter could have been seriously hurt thank god I have a good car seat
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the brakes failed to respond as needed. The contact also stated that while attempting to open the doors, the contact heard an abnormal sound, and the radio was independently activated. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, and it was diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,000.
While driving at approximately 60mph, the engine suffered a catastrophic failure. According to the licensed Chevy service repair shop, the engine “threw a rod that resulted in a hole in the engine block.” The car immediately lost power while driving on the highway with my wife and young child. The result of this scenario was lucky enough to avoid serious injury.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact became aware that the instrument panel was inoperable. The contact stated that the rearview camera randomly turned on while driving. The contact also became aware that the instrument panel would turn off unexpectedly while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,400.
I was driving on [XXX]. The engine lights came on and the message said to basically shut the car off. I was going 70 MPH. I slowed down and pulled over. I heard a loud bang as the car started smoking. Oil and coolant leaked out over the road, there were pieces of a frayed belts and a broken bolt near the car. I had it towed 50 miles to the dealer (Serpentini Chevy) that i bought the car from. They told me that the rod blew and that the engine is shot. They are searching for a new engine and cant guarantee that it wont happen again. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Running day lights flicker as well as the emergency lights on "Auto Day Light setting". I was driving in the daytime, and I had two people honk at me because they thought I was trying to get their attention with my lights. The cars behind me also looked concerned since the emergency lights were turning on and off.
Chevy Trax has chrome in the interior that reflects the sun and causes blinding effects making the car difficult to control during sunny days. Causes driver to look away creating safety hazard.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the daytime running lights was continuously blinking off and on, creating a visibility hazard for both the driver and oncoming motorist. Additionally, the OnStar feature intermittently malfunctioned, and the driver was unable to communicate. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 100.
Passenger speaker went out and the dealership won't do anything until a recall happens
AC not working causing internal temperatures to be in excess of 105 degrees in the cabin during summer days in Florida. I am not longer able to transport child as well as myself because it causes us to get heat exhaustion making us ill. Reason for failure is so common apparently on newest generation of Chevy Trax that their is a national back order with no date of resolution. I am no longer able to use the car during the afternoon. Chevy has no resolution.
When my daughter and I were driving on the highway, the dash lights completely went out while driving at over 60 miles per hour. It was a scary experience. The dash lights came back on a few seconds later. This occurred in July 2024. I brought the vehicle into the dealership on July 23, 2024. I was informed there were no recalls on the vehicle and a computer scan of the vehicle revealed no problem codes. I was told since it is a new vehicle, it might just be a glitch in the system and to bring it in if there are any further problems. When I recently searched for recalls on 2024 Chevrolet Trax, I saw NHTSA ID: 23V744000 which addresses the issue I experienced. When I went to the dealership, I was informed that my specific vehicle (using the VIN) was not identified for recall. I expressed my concern because my daughter drives this car and the recall announcement indicates when the instrument panel goes blank, there is an increased risk of a crash, which I agree with. I would like to be included with the 2024 Chevrolet Trax vehicles already under recall for the experience I had when the car's instrument panel went blank. It is dangerous and I especially do not want my 18 year old daughter driving if it occurs again.
I was driving on a busy expressway. My Trax began to lose power then there was a loud explosive sound and a cloud of black smoke. The Trax continued to lose power as I navigated across several lanes of traffic to the shoulder. There was oil everywhere. I was stranded with my dog in 100° heat. The Trax has been towed to the dealer and I am waiting on the official diagnosis.
The car only have 4700 milles and the check engine light comes, I use a obd2 reader and the code P146D appear. Checking this code it’s associated to a old recall in others cars including the Chevy Trax years 2020 and up N232395300 bulletin I would like Chevrolet take responsibility for this recall it’s old and continue using parts with problems
Headlights are flickering and blinking intermittently along with the green headlight indicator blinking in gauge cluster. Seems like the automatic headlight sensor is unable to detect outer darkness level and fails to keep headlights on or off. Issue happens in sunny and partially cloudy days after the car exposed to sun for 5-10 minutes depending on the strenght of sunlight. This seriously confuse the drivers of incoming traffic especially in the crossings and intersections as blinking headlights means "i give you way" and may lead to accidents and other incidents.
Occasionally after reversing, the camera will get stuck on and the screen will continue to show the reverse camera while moving forward
Automatic headlight keep flickering on and off. Found out because the green dash light kept flickering and two drivers asked if I was ok because I was flashing the light, but I was not.
The air-conditioning is not working confirmed by Chevy dealer. First time I was told it need refrigerant/freon; worked for approximately 2 weeks and then brought to another Chevy dealer and was told the AC Evaporator needed to be replaced. The AC Evaporator that needs to be replaced has been on order since 7/9/2024. We have had heatwave upon heatwave and still no part. I have a compliant in with GM and they have no date as to when the part will be made or where the order stands. Every week I get the same message "I am not seeing any status change. We are still experiencing a delay on the AC Evaporator". They have used the excuse of COVID and strike (which strike was 6 weeks). But we no longer have COVID or the strike. This is going on for two months. How many other AC evaporators are being made? I am sure the new cars are getting them. I can still drive vehicle, however in the afternoon hours it is extremely hot and I hope I don't pass out on way home. This is a safety concern.
When set to auto headlamps function, headlamp lights begin to flicker/flash on and off randomly while driving in sunny daylight conditions. This could be a distraction for drivers in front of vehicle. Dealership cannot repair problem as they claim not to have a Service Bulletin number from GM.
The automatic lighting control module is malfunctioning and causing my headlights to turn on/off rapidly in multiple different lighting conditions. Weather the sun is up/overcast or even at night if I’m close enough behind a vehicle from the reflection of my headlights it causes the sensor to turn the lights on and off. I was pulled over by a local sheriff the other day because he saw it happening during the day and that’s how I initially realized it was happening. If anything it’s an obvious safety risk for the distraction it causes to not only me but other drivers on the road. And I am always constantly checking the light on my dash to see if my headlights are actually functioning(lighting) when they should be. As another note there is many other people having this same issue that I’ve seen on Trax forums.
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the brakes became inoperable. The braking system failure message was displayed. The vehicle failed to exceed 42 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where the codes were cleared, and the electrical system was updated. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving, the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to another local dealer, Shakopee Chevrolet (1206 1st Ave. E., Shakopee, MN 55379). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
On [XXX] our nearly brand new ICE Chevy Trax spontaneously caught on fire and was destroyed. The check engine light had come on on May 30 and we had, as the manual said we should, set an appointment with our dealer to check it out. It was not flashing and the car was running fine. My wife took two of our grandkids out on [XXX] and drove a few miles doing kid things. Then I took the car for an 8-mile round trip and came home, parking in our driveway. The only unusual thing I noticed was that when I set the parking brake I did not hear the usual sound that function makes. About 15 minutes later my wife screamed that her car was smoking. I ran out and tried to get the garden hose to water the engine compartment, which the smoke was coming from, and growing quickly. Water didn't go down below the hood well and the paint started smoking then blistering. I tried to get water into the engine compartment from under the car but could not, and nothing was burning under the car that I could see at that point. (I could not discern the under-hood source of the original fire.) Then flames appeared and I had to back off. We had called 911 at once, of course, and the Saline fire department arrived and put the fire out with their big hose. By that time the entire engine compartment was destroyed, the windshield smashed, and both front tires had exploded. Note that there was a 15-20 mph wind blowing from the rear to the front of the car. Otherwise a nice day. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2024 Chevrolet Trax. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was jerking while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel intermittently went blank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed with a defective valve body and torque converter. The contact retrieved the vehicle, and the failure returned immediately upon exiting the parking lot. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and remained with the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and the contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 1,900.

The issue involves the upper corners of all four door frames on my 2024 Chevrolet Trax, which are extremely sharp. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. On approximately May 13, 2024, and again on August 16, 2025, my passenger in the front seat was struck in the face by the sharp door frame corner, while exiting the vehicle. In both incidents, the corner cut my passenger's cheek below the eye, resulting in small open wounds, which needed to be cleaned and disinfected. The problem has occurred twice under normal use. I reported the first incident to General Motors (GM) on May 15, 2024, but did not receive a response. On Sept 22, 2025, I reported the second incident that occurred on Sept 2, 2025, to GM, at which time they asked several questions and requested photos of my vehicle, which I provided. On Sept 22, 2025, GM requested I take my vehicle to my dealership, J.B.A. Chevrolet, for inspection. I took my vehicle to JBA on Sept 29, 2025, and was told that GM wanted photos of my vehicle, as well as photos of another 2024 Trax on the Lot for comparison. At that time, JBA had to wait for another vehicle to come in. Unknown if JBA or GM attempted to reproduce the issue during an inspection. On Oct 24, 2025, GM telephoned and issued a final determination, which I requested in writing and received on Nov 11, 2025. GM stated that because the design was consistent across Trax vehicles, and based on the facts provided, they were unable to assume responsibility for damages and suggested I resolve the issue with my insurance company. I did not ask for damages, I asked for corrective measures to avoid future injuries. I submitted a request for reconsideration on Dec 2, 2025. On Dec 16, 2025, a totally different GM office contacted me, which did not yield any results. Although the injuries were minor, the repeated nature of the harm indicates a foreseeable risk to future passengers and to other Trax owners. Uploading 10 pages in PDF format
I am reporting a serious safety concern with my 2024 Chevrolet Trax, purchased on [XXX]. Within three weeks, I experienced a malfunction where the infotainment screen began glitching, and the audio volume surged to maximum without warning. I was unable to control the volume or turn off the system, forcing me to pull over and restart the vehicle to stop the distraction. This issue has recurred multiple times, creating a significant distraction and making me feel unsafe while driving. The loud, uncontrollable audio and erratic screen behavior divert my attention from the road, increasing the risk of an accident. I reported the problem to the dealership in June 2024. They acknowledged the issue but stated that no fix was available as GM had not developed the necessary software update. I was advised to wait for an update. Throughout the winter of 2025, the problem worsened. Despite repeated inquiries, the dealership informed me that no solution was available. In April 2025, I returned the vehicle to the dealership, but they still could not resolve the issue. The service manager recommended I report the problem to the NHTSA and contact GM customer service. I did so on April 11, 2025, and a case was opened. However, as of today, there is still no resolution. This ongoing problem is more than an inconvenience; it poses a safety risk by creating a distracting and uncontrollable environment while driving.
