TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SON WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. AS THE VEHICLE WAS BEING COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER ESCAPED BY KICKING OUT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW BEFORE THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE AT THE SCENE AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION, HOSPITALIZATION, AND REHAB. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY, ONE YEAR AFTER THE FIRE, THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 15V313000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER 300. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V313000 (AIR BAGS) AND 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIRS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
I'M COMPLAINING ABOUT THE WIN MODULE, I'VE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS. NOT KNOWING THAT'S WHAT IT WAS, I WENT OUT AND BOUGHT BATTERIES FOR MY FOBS...WORKED FOR ABOUT A WEEK, MY CAR BEEPS ALL NIGHT LONG SO I TOOK THE BACKS OF THE FOBS SO THAT THE BATTERY WOULD NOT HAVE CONTACT. THAT HELPED WITH THE BEEPING. BUT I HAVE HAD SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR STARTING, HAD TO SIT PLACES UNTIL I COULD GET IT STARTED. SO I GO ON CHRYSLER S PAGE ONLY TO READ ABOUT PROBLEMS WITH THE WIN MODULE, AND IT STATES THAT THERE"S MANY MANY OF THE 2008 CHRYSLER 300 WITH THIS PROBLEM. AND IT ALSO STATES THAT IF IT FAIL WHILE DRIVING THE CAR COULD SHUT OFF. MY COMPLAINT IS IF CHRYSLER KNOW THIS WHY DON'T THEY HAVE A RECALL ON THE CARS. SO MANY PEOPLE COMPLAINING THAT THEIR CAR WANT START, BUT WHEN IT'S TAKEN INTO THE SHOP, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER, AND THEN WHEN THE PART COME IN AND INSTALLED YOU HAVE TO GET ANOTHER KEY FOB AND IT PROGRAMMED TO THAT MODULE. THAT KEY IS A TOTAL OF $289.00. I WAS QUOTED, AND MOST PEOPLE HAVE 2 KEYS. THAT PRICE IS $289.00 EACH. THIS IS NOT RIGHT, IF IT'S THAT MANY COMPLAINT IT SHOULD BE RECALLED. THE PRICE FOR REPAIRS WAS $760.00 PLUS 289.00 TWICE AND NOT TO MENTION CAR RENTAL. *JS

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER 300. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THOUGH A DRIVE THRU AND AT A STAND STILL, THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. THE CONTACT POWERED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE SMELL WENT AWAY. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHILE DRIVING SLOW, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN WITH NO BRAKING EFFECT. A COMPLETE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC RESISTANCE AND STOPPING CAPACITY. IF THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH WITH AN EMERGENCY SIMI TRUCK PANIC STOPPING IN FRONT OF THIS VEHICLE, THE DRIVER WOULD NOT SURVIVE. WITH THIS HAPPENING TO THIS VEHICLE THIS MAY BE A RARE EVENT, BUT IF I DID NOT REPORT THIS , IT WOULD BE NEGLECT ON MY PART. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED WAS UNAVAILABLE TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE.
SINCE THE FIRST OCCURRENCE, THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY, MANY TIMES .. THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER EITHER WITH THE KEY FOB IN THE IGNITION OR REMOTELY. AT TIMES I HAVE HAD TO KEEP ATTEMPTING TO START THE CAR FOR AS LONG AS 20 MINUTES BEFORE IT FINALLY TURNS OVER. YOU CAN HEAR SOMETHING THAT SOUNDS LIKE ELECTRICAL RELAYS IN THE REAR OF THE CAR, BUT THE ENGINE DOESN'T SEEM TO ENGAGE. OTHER ISSUES: ON ONE OCCASION, THE CAR STALLED WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT. ON SEVERAL OTHER OCCASIONS, WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, IT SEEMS THE REAR AXLE IS MAKING A "CLUNKING" SOUND AND IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE TRANSMISSION IS DOWNSHIFTING WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. *TR

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE ENGINE WOULD JUST LOSE POWER AND SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY, LEAVING ME WITHOUT BRAKES OR THE ABILITY TO STEER. SOMETIMES THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD HANG AND NOT START THE ENGINE UNTIL ABOUT THE FOURTH OR FIFTH TRY. SO, I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE AND REPAIRS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE IGNITION...SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE WCM MODULE OR WIN MODULE OR FORBIK AND ONLY THE DEALER COULD REPAIR IT. ON APRIL 1, 2014, JIM COGDILL DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM, 8544 KINSTON PIKE KNOXVILLE, TN 37919 DID THE WORK. THEN, AFTER I HAD SPENT A TOTAL OF $576.62 FOR PARTS AND LABOR, I GET A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER INFORMING ME OF SAFETY RECALL P57 / NHTSA 14V-567. NOVEMBER 19, 2014, I SENT IN ALL OF THE REQUESTED INFORMATION AND FORMS AND RECEIPTS STATING THAT I HAD PAID FOR REPAIRS AND THAT I WANTED A REFUND. ON DECEMBER 10, 2014, I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM CHRYSLER'S CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER CASE MANAGER STATING THAT THEY "WILL BE ABLE TO LOOK INTO MY REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST FURTHER WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE". AS OF TODAY, APRIL 21, 2015, THE "PARTS" ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NEITHER IS MY REFUND. MY REFERENCE WITH CHRYSLER CAC FOR THIS CLAIM IS CASE #[XXX]. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WHEN THE KEY WAS PLACED IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.

ONCE THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE FAILURE STOPPED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED RANDOMLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 64,626.
A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE OCURS EVERY TIME THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED TO 3/4 TH. OR MORE. THE GASTANK HAS BEEN REPLACED ONCE, THE FUEL LEVEL SEAL ON TOP THE TANK HAS BEEN REPLACED. AND THE TANK HAS BEEN PRESSURIZED TO TRY TO FIND THE CAUSE, BUT TO NO AVAIL.THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, AND THE DEALER REMEDIES HAVE NOT ELIMINATED THE PROBLEM. LESS FUEL IN THE TANK ELIMINATES THE STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. WHEN PARKED, THE ODOR IS WORSE. THE GARAGE IS DANGEROUSLY FILLED WITH GASOLINE FUMES.

THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V567000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART AND PERMANENT REMEDY WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR MONTHS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO ETA ON WHEN THEY ARE GOING TO RECEIVE THE PARTS TO GET MY VEHICLE FIXED. I HAVE RECENTLY HAD ISSUES WITH MY CAR NOT STARTING AT ALL IN ADDITION TO THE IGNITION SWITCH STICKING. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL SHOP AND THEY FIXED THE IGNITION RELAY. AFTER THAT, I RECEIVED THE IGNITION RECALL FROM CHRYSLER. CHRYSLER IS REFUSING TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE IGNITION RELAY AS THEY INDICATED THAT, AT THIS TIME, THEY CANNOT CONFIRM THAT IT IS PART OF THE RECALL (RELAY FAILED DUE TO CORROSION) AS THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS NOT SURE WHAT WOULD NEED TO BE FIXED IN THE RECALL ?????? CHRYSLER HAS ALSO REFUSED TO PROVIDE ME ANYTHING IN WRITING OF THEIR DENIAL OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE CORRODED IGNITION RELAY. THE REPRESENTATIVE WOULD ONLY GIVE ME HER FIRST NAME, [XXX], AND NO OTHER ASSISTANCE. SHE ASSURED ME THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY ME WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH COMES IN AND CHRYSLER HAS A RECORD OF MY CALL AND CLAIM. MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START ON 8/6/13. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ON NORTHLAKE BLVD IN LAKE PARK, FL. ON 8/9/13 I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEEDED A WIN MODULE AND IT WOULD TAKE APPPROX. TWO WEEKS TO COME IN, THAT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. I ASKED IF IT WAS BECAUSE THEY WERE REPLACING SO MANY AND WAS TOLD NO, IT WAS BECAUSE "TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE REPLACING THEM UNNECESSARILY", I ASKED IF THEY HAD A LOANER CAR SINCE IT WAS NOT OUR FAULT THAT IT WOULD TAKE SO LONG TO GET THE PART AND WE COULD NOT AFFORD A RENTAL, THAT WE WERE A THREE CAR FAMILY DOWN TO ONLY ONE CAR.
