I BEGAN ACCELERATING ONTO A RAMP TO ENTER ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND MY ASPEN COMPLETELY LOSS ALL POWER SUDDENLY. THE ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN INCLUDING POWER ALL ELECTRONICS. I HAD TO LET THE CAR GLIDE TO THE SHOULDER, PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR, WHICH IT STARED AS IT ALWAYS HAS. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE NOR DID IT HAPPEN AGAIN. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED OUT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. BEING THAT THIS HAPPENED WHILE ENTERING A BUSY HIGHWAY, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED.
THIS RECALL (S43/NHTSA16V-352) HAS BEEN OUTSTANDING FOR NINE MONTHS AND THE PARTS ARE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO SAFELY DRIVE MY VEHICLE. FCA HAS REFUSED TO PROVIDE A RENTAL

THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL-THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR HOUSING MAY RUPTURE WHILE DEPLOYING DURING A CRASH. THE POTENTIAL FOR SUCH RUPTURES MAY OCCUR IN SOME OF THE SUBJECT AIRBAG INFLATORS AFTER SEVERAL YEARS OF EXPOSURE TO PERSISTENT CONDITIONS OF HIGH ABSOLUTE HUMIDITY AND/OR HEAT AGING. IN THE EVENT OF A FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENT(S) COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS. WHY IS THERE NOT A FIX FOR THIS AND IF THERE ISN'T ONE WHY IS THE VEHICLE NOT BEING RECALLED AND THOSE OF US WHO HAVE IT BEING COMPENSATED APPROPRIATELY TO GET A NEW VEHICLE! MAYBE CONTACTING A LAWYER WOULD HELP. IF SOMEONE I LOVE IS INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE OF THIS THERE WILL BE A LAWSUIT!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL STEERING FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SECOND HAND. ONE PREVIOUS OWNER PRIOR. JUST RECENTLY IT STARTED SPITTING GAS BACK DURING FILL UP (CAR IS PARKED, NOT RUNNING). ANYTIME WE FILL UP WITH GAS, THE PUMP SHUTS OFF AND IMMEDIATELY GAS SPITS BACK OUT OF THE TANK. VARYING AMOUNTS OF GAS THAT SPITS BACK AT THE PUMP. EVERY TIME, WITH FORCE, HAVING TO ALERT THE GAS STATION ATTENDANTS TO FUEL SPILLED ON THE GROUND DUE TO THE SPIT BACK. I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE SPIT BACK.
WHEN FUELING MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN, FUEL SPLASHES BACK OUT OF THE FUEL TANK INLET PIPE ONTO THE PERSON PUTTING FUEL INTO THE TANK. THIS HAPPENS EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY NOT BE TOPPING OFF THE TANK. FUEL SPLASHES ONTO PERSON, CLOTHES, HANDS, SHOES, VEHICLE QUARTER PANEL AND PUDDLES ON CONCRETE PAD . I HAVE RECEIVED SKIN IRRITATION FROM THE CONTACT OF THE FUEL ON MY HANDS AND HAVE TO GO IN THE STORE TO WASH MY HANDS OR WASH THEM IN THE DIRTY WATER IN THE WINDSHIELD SCRAPER HOLDER. I HAVE A COUPLE OF FRIENDS THAT OWN ASPENS AND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. IN DOING RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE, I SEE WHERE CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL ON CERTAIN DURANGOS AND ASPENS, BUT ACCORDING TO MY DEALER, MY VEHICLE AND MANY MORE WERE EXCLUDED. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY BY CHRYSLER. IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE INJURED OR KILLED BEFORE NHTSA MAKES CHRYSLER DO A RECALL ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. QUESTION BELOW ASKS, "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN"? IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I PUT FUEL IN MY ASPEN. IT CAN HAVE 1/4 TANK AND I CAN PUT IN 5 GALLONS OF FUEL REAL SLOW AND WHEN I WITHDRAW THE NOZZLE, FUEL WILL SPLASH OUT. LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS TODAY...
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IN MOTION REGARDLESS OF ROAD STREET OR HIGHWAY AFTER REFUELING, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL TANK & THE ON-BOARD REFUELING VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM IS FAULTY AND THAT RAW LIQUID FUEL WAS GOING INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING FAILING. WE HAVE LITTLE CHOICE BUT TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AS THIS COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE IN THE ENGINE AND\OR CAUSE A POTENTIAL ACCIDENT AS THE ENGINE STOPS WHILE IN MOTION.
ON SATURDAY, JANUARY 23, 2016 WE WERE LEAVING OUR HOME AT APPROXIMATELY 6 PM. AS WE PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH CAME ON. ON OUR WAY HOME LATER THAT NIGHT AND WHILE TRAVELING AT BETWEEN 55 AND 65 MPH WHILE GETTING ON TO I-43 NEAR GREEN BAY, WI. BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS SUDDENLY DEPLOYED DESPITE THERE BEING NO IMPACT OF ANY KIND. AS DESIGNED, THE VEHICLE THEN SHUTDOWN COMPLETELY, MAKING STEERING EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. WITH CONSIDERABLE DIFFICULTY, I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE RODE AND COME TO A STOP. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED NO EXTERIOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSEST CHRYSLER DEALER, WHO THEN READ THE CODES WITH THEIR COMPUTER. THE CODES INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD SENSED A "ROLLOVER". OBVIOUSLY, NO "ROLLOVER" HAD OCCURRED. CHRYSLER WOULD NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE AIRBAGS OR AIRBAG MODULE BECAUSE THEY SAID THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. CHRYSLER ALSO SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT OF THE AIRBAGS BECAUSE NO RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE SPECIFIC AIRBAGS THAT HAD GONE OFF OR FOR THE MODULE. INSURANCE WOULD NOT COVER COST OF AIRBAG REPLACEMENT OR AIRBAG MODULE REPLACEMENT AS IT WAS DEEMED AN "ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION".

THE CLOCK SPRING/STEERING SENSOR HAS GONE OUT ON MY ASPEN. WHAT I WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP IS IT HAS GONE BAD ON SO MANY ASPEN AND OTHER CHRYSLER CARS USING THIS PART THAT IT IS ON BACK ORDER AND MAY TAKE UP TO 6 MONTHS TO GET ONE... THIS PART HAS CAUSED MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKE, SKID CONTROL AND MY ALL WHEEL DRIVE TO NO LONGER WORK
STABILITY CONTROL ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALL ON. TOLD ITS A MODULE BUILT INTO THE CLOCK SPRING WITH PART COST OF 900.00 ALSO TOLD SO MANY HAVE GONE BAD ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. PART HAS BEEN ON ORDER SINCE NOVEMBER. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, GAS SPRAYS EVERYWHERE AFTER THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS WELL AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK.

WE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UPON HITTING A MEDIUM SIZED BUMP WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 38MPH IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN HITTING SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED BUMPS SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE LATE IN 2014. THERE ARE NO BROKEN OR WORN OUT PARTS IN THE STEERING OR SUSPENSION AND THE TIRES ONLY HAVE 3,000 MILES ON THEM. IN FACT, THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE WHEN WE REPLACED THE PREVIOUS TIRES. THIS LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THERE IS AN ISSUE THE IN ENGINEERING OF THE STEERING SYSTEM ON THIS VEHICLE. IT IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO HIT A BUMP WITHOUT THE STEERING PULLING TO THE SIDE, WHICH RE-DIRECTS THE VEHICLE REGARDLESS OF HOW HARD THE DRIVER GRIPS THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND WE NEED A SOLUTION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BEFORE THIS CAUSES A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
THE LIFT GATE IN THE BACK THAT IS COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE TRUNK; THE POWER IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE DOOR ON MY HEAD AND THE IMPACT DID NOT CAUSE THE TRUCK TO GO BACK UP, I HAD TO GET FROM UNDER THE LIFE GATE I BUMPED MY HEAD IN SEVERAL PLACES AND WAS NAUSEATED ALL DAY ON SUNDAY WITH A HEADACHE I DID NOT GO TO THE DOCTOR, I HAVE MOVED 1000 MILES AWAY FROM HOME AND FELT I COULD NOT DRIVE MYSELF TO THE HOSPITAL . IF IT WERE MY GRAND CHILD IT WOULD BE FATAL BUT I HAVE MOVED TO GEORGIA. THERE ARE SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THE TRUCK INCLUDING THE ENGINE LIGHT NEVER GOES OFF AND I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE REPAIRS ON THE TRUCK. I AM AN EDUCATED PERSON, THE TREASURER FOR FULTON COUNTY SCHOOLS, I AM WORRIED THAT THIS TRUCK IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS. I WOULD LIKE TO BE PAID FOR THIS TRUCK HITTING ME IN MY HEAD, $ 8000 IMMEDIATELY AND THE REPAIRS FREELY FIXED....UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD AN EMISSION LEAK. RECEIVED RECALL ON DRIVER AIRBAG INFLATOR, THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE ,IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE AND RISK A POTENTIAL DEPLOYMENT OF DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS THAT CAN RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS HEALTH RISK. THE INTENTION TO REPAIR BY MANUFACTURER IS GOOD FAITH BUT WHAT IS SAFETY WITHOUT THE CORRECTION OF THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS. .IS THERE AN ALTERNATIVE, PERHAPS A LOANER CAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL THE PARTS CAN BE REPLACED.

AT A CARSEAT CHECKUP TRAINING EVENT, A TECHNICIAN NOTICED THE LOCKING CLIP THAT MAKES THE SEATBELTS LOCK IN PLACE WERE BROKEN ON THE SECOND ROW OUTBOARD LOCATIONS. ALL THE LOCKING CLIPS ON THE SLIDING SEAT BELTS ARE PLASTIC.
THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINS ON CONSTANTLY DESPITE BEING REPAIRED AT LEAST THREE TIMES. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED, HOWEVER, THE LIGHT REMAINS ON. TWO SEPARATE REPAIR SHOPS HAVE WORKED ON THE ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET THE LIGHT TO TURN OFF. WE HAVE SPENT SUBSTANTIAL FUNDS TRYING TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE AND NO ONE IS ABLE TO GET LIGHT TO TURN OFF.

FIRST I MUST START OUT BY SAYING THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE SINCE BUYING FROM A DEALERSHIP WHO HAS REFUSED TO CORRECT ANY OF THE PROBLEMS IN ANY FASHION MAINLY BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. THE DAY AFTER WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STALLED ON US DUE TO A DEAD BATTERY. NOT A BIG DEAL, BUT IT WAS ONLY THE BEGINNING TO A WIDE RANGE OF PROBLEMS. WHILE TAKING THE TRUCK FOR A REQUIRED STATE INSPECTION, THE TRUCK SOMEHOW MANAGED TO ROLL FORWARD FROM A PARKED POSITION WHEN REVERSE HAD BEEN SELECTED. IT WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINE NO MORE THAN A 10 DEGREE ANGLE AND ENDED UP ROLLING/CRASHING INTO THE CURB. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP TO VOICE MY CONCERN/ANGER AND THEY AGREED TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM BUT TO NO AVAIL. NOT LONG AFTERWARDS WE HAD SOME HEAVY RAIN I BELIEVE THE FOLLOWING WEEK AND WE REALIZED THE ROOF WAS LEAKING ALONG THE PASSENGER SIDE PILLAR RIGHT INTO THE VENTS. THIS I BELIEVED LED TO SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE RADIO AS MY WIFE SAID IF OFTEN "FLICKERED" AND "CUT IN AND OUT". THIS WAS ALSO BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIPS ATTENTION AND AGAIN NOTHING WAS DONE; HOWEVER THEY DID CLEAN THE DRAINS WHICH THEY SAID CAUSED THE LEAKING. I HAD ALSO VOICED MY CONCERNS TO CHRYSLER AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD UNTIL THEY HAVE ENOUGH DOCUMENTED ISSUES, NOTHING CAN BE DONE. NOW, MY WIFE AND I HADN'T FILLED THIS TRUCK UP TO THIS POINT AS YET, BUT THE FIRST TIME WE DID THE GAS OVERFLOWED AND GUSHED OUT OF THE VEHICLE SPILLING EVERYWHERE. I INITIALLY THOUGHT THE PUMP NOZZLE WAS FAULTY BUT AFTER THE SECOND TIME AT A DIFFERENT GAS STATION I WAS CONVINCED THE PROBLEMATIC VEHICLE WAS TO BLAME. THIS VEHICLE HAS AWD AND ELECTRONIC SHIFTING OF THE TRANSFER CASE. THE MOTOR FOR THE TRANSFER CASE ENGAGES AND SHIFTS THE TRANSMISSION INTO 4WD LOCK DURING LOW SPEED TURNS AND WHILE PARKED.

THE FUEL SPRAYS BACK OUT OF THE TANK DURING A REFUELING. IT DOESN'T MATTER THE TIME OF YEAR ALTHOUGH DURING THE WARMER TEMPERATURES IT IS MORE INTENSE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY THE MANUFACTURER.
THE PROBLEM STARTED OFF WITH EVERYTIME I PUMP GAS AND FILL THE TANK, AS SOON AS YOU REMOVE THE PUMP THE GAS SPEWS OUT ALL OVER THE PLACE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. SUDDENLY ON APRIL 30, 2015 THE TRUCK DIED AND WOULD NOT START. IT WILL CUT ON AND ATTEMPT TO START BUT WOULD NOT STAY ON. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD. FUNNY THING YOU CAN'T SEEM TO FIND THE FUEL PUMP ALMOST ANYWHERE!!! THE CHRYSLER MANUFACTURER AND MOPAR PARTS DO NOT HAVE THIS PARTICULAR ONE NEEDED IN STOCK. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THE CHRYSLER ASPEN AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE!!! *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT HAD PREVIOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE DETECTOR, VALVE LIN AND THE SEAL VAPOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
THE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY CHIMING ON AND OFF. THE AUTOMATIC TRUNK DOOR OPENS AND THEN SHUTS ABRUPTLY WITH FORCE WHICH CAN CAUSE SERIOUSLY INJURY. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLE AND THAT I WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVE IT ASSESSED. VERY FRUSTRATING TO HAVE TO PAY THE DEALERSHIP FOR ISSUES THAT REALLY SHOULD THE MANUFACTURERS RESPONSIBILITY!!! SHAME ON CHRYSLER FOR NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECTS!!! *TR

MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL TANK. WHEN FILLING THE TANK, THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AND GAS WILL COME SQUIRTING OUT OF TANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT MANY DIFFERENT PUMPS AND DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. IT SEEMS DANGEROUS TO HAVE GAS SPILLING OUT. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE FOR CHRYSLER AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. HELLO, I AM THE OWNER OF A 2008 ASPEN. I RECENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A SAFETY CAR SEAT CHECKPOINT AND WAS RECOMMENDED TO CONTACT YOU BY THE OFFICER CONCERNING THE SEAT BELTS. THEY DON'T LOCK WHEN PULLED ALL THE WAY OUT LIKE OTHER VEHICLES (I.E. NOTABLE RESISTANCE WHEN TRYING TO SECURE A CAR SEAT IN PLACE). I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THIS WHEN SWITCHING CAR SEATS IN A DURANGO THAT MY BROTHER OWNS. I KNOW THE BELTS LOCK UPON BRAKING THE VEHICLE. ALSO, I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WHERE THE VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF, AND I HAVE LOST POWER STEERING AND ALL ELECTRICAL CONTROL AFTER TOPPING OFF AT A GAS STATION. WE PROMPTLY TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHO DID A COMPUTER UPDATE BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ANYTIME WE TOP OFF WITH GAS. AS LONG AS WE DON'T OVERFILL ABOVE THE FIRST CLICK OF THE GAS HANDLE, THE VEHICLE DOESN'T CUT OFF SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING. MY HUSBAND HAS VISITED FORUMS ONLINE WHERE THIS HAS BEEN AS ISSUE FOR OTHER OWNERS. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN A NEIGHBORHOOD TWO MILES DOWN THE ROAD WHEN IT CUT OFF WITH ME AND MY CHILDREN SO WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP. HOWEVER, I FEEL IT IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE AS IT DOESN'T HAPPEN IMMEDIATELY AND IF I HAD BEEN ON A BUSY ROAD COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT AS I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

WHEN I PUT FUEL IN MY VEHICLE IT STALLS WITHIN 5 MINUTES. IT DOES IT ONCE AND THEN DOESN'T DO IT AGAIN UNTIL I FILL UP THE NEXT TIME. IF I FILL IT BEFORE IT GETS BELOW A HALF TANK IT DOESN'T SEEM TO DO IT. HAD TO GET REPAIRS DONE AT PEP BOYS SINCE NO DEALERSHIPS ARE OPEN ON SUNDAY OR SATURDAY AFTERNOON. REPLACED PINION SEAL AND ADD FLUID TO DIFFERENTIAL, TORQUE NUT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V038000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION, BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
