ENGINE STALLS CONSISTENTLY WITH FULL TANK OF GAS. SAME PROBLEM OTHER CHRYSLERS HAVE WITH EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEM VALVE. *TR
AT TIME OF FILL UP, WHEN THE PUMP STOPS FULL SPEWS OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND WHEN I BROUGHT THIS TO THE SALES MANAGERS ATTENTION HE PLAYED IT OFF AS NO BIG DEAL. HE DID OFFER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO PURCHASE TO HAVE THE CAR "FIXED" SO IT WOULDN'T SPEW FUEL ON THE GROUND OR PERSON PUMPING GAS. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THIS HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED IN A RECALL.
THE 4WD STARTED TO ENGAGE WITHOUT BEING SWITCHED AND WITH NO INDICATION ON THE INSTRUMENTATION PANEL. VEHICLE GOES INTO 4X4 ON ITS OWN. WHEN WE MAKE A SHARP TURN GOING FORWARD OR BACKING...THE REAR TIRES LOCK UP. THE SVC 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF SPORADICALLY. I CAN ALSO HEAR IT SWITCH BACK AND FORTH UNDER THE CAR EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF. PERIODICALLY WHEN YOU SWITCH THE DIAL OVER TO 4LO OR 4X4 LOCK THE SVC 4WD LIGHT JUST FLICKERS OFF AND ON. *TR
CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE ON INTERSTATE ENTRANCE RAMP. AS ENTERING RAMP AND STARTING TO SPEED UP, HEARD LOUD NOISE AND LOST ALL POWER/MOMENTUM. HAD TO TOW AND REPLACE MOTOR DUE TO ROD THROWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK INTO DRIVE, THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE WALL OF THE GARAGE. THE CONTACT THEN SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE RAPIDLY ACCELERATED BACKWARD, CRASHING INTO THE HOME A SECOND TIME WITH ONE HALF OF THE VEHICLE PENETRATING THE HOUSE. THE VEHICLE STRUCK A CHILD AND CAUSED INJURIES TO BOTH OF THE CHILD'S LEGS. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE INCIDENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
I WAS REFILLING THE GAS TANK AT A GAS STATION. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE GAS HOSE "CLICKED OFF" (WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL), A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS GUSHED OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK PAST THE HOSE NOZZLE, BACK-FLOWING FROM THE FUEL TANK. I WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF THE FUEL FILLER OPENING, HOLDING THE HOSE NOZZLE HANDLE, AND WAS SPLASHED WITH GAS. IN MY ESTIMATION THE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SPILLED DIRECTLY ON ME WAS AT LEAST ONE-HALF OF A GALLON. THE FRONT OF MY PANTS WERE ENTIRELY SOAKED, MY GLOVES AND THE LOWER THIRD OF MY COAT WERE ALSO SPLASHED. I CHANGED MY CLOTHES AS SOON AS PRACTICAL, FORTUNATELY, I WAS NOT INJURED (THOUGH HAVING THE SKIN OF MY LEGS AND RIGHT HAND TEMPORARILY SOAKED WITH GASOLINE, IT'S HARD TO BE CERTAIN). I CALLED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A TSB ISSUED FOR THIS DEFECT (NUMBER 14-001-12). IN MY OPINION THE DECISION TO ALLOW THIS ISSUE TO BE ADDRESSED WITH A TSB RATHER THAN A SAFETY RECALL WAS A PROFOUND ERROR IN JUDGMENT. UPDATED 02/27/14*LJ
NOISE AND JERK (SOMETIMES PRETTY VIOLENT) DURING ACCELERATION AFTER SLOWING DOWN. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY CHECKED U-JOINTS (OK) AND SAID THE DIFFERENTIAL SEAL WAS LEAKING AND NUT HAD BACKED OFF.....TIGHTENED NUT AND REPLACED SEAL. STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH NOISE/JERKING. THEY SAY IT IS STILL A DIFFERENTIAL PROBLEM AND WE ARE TRYING TO GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTOR (FIDELITY) TO AGREE TO PAY BEFORE WE FIX SINCE IT WILL BE OVER $1200 TO FIX. I FEEL THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT WE RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE DIFFERENTIAL IN OUR 2005 DODGE RAM. CHRYSLER SHOULD LOOK AT THIS. *TR
WHENEVER I FILL UP WITH GAS AND THE PUMP KICKS OFF ROUGHLY ABOUT A 1/2 GALLON OF GAS SPITS BACK OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE TRUCK AND ON ME. *JS
WHEN FUELING THIS VEHICLE IT PHYSICALLY SPRAYS APPROXIMATELY 8 OUNCES OF FUEL OUT OF THE FUEL RECEPTACLE WHEN THE FUELING NOZZLE CLICKS OFF. I HAVE FOUND NO WAY TO STOP IT,OR CONTROL THE AMOUNT OR DIRECTION. ANYTHING OR ANYONE NEAR IT WILL GET SPRAYED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER MUST ADDRESS! WE JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE 1/31/2014 SO THAT IS THE REASON FOR THE LATE FILING OF THIS REPORT. *TR

I SAW WHERE SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAS COMPLAINTS ABOUT WHEN YOU FILL UP WITH GAS AFTER THE NOZZLE CLICKS IT SPRAYS GAS OUT, I HAVE HAD MY ASPEN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND IT DOES THE SAME THING, I THINK THAT IS A DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO FIX, IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR GAS TO SPRAY OUT EVERYWHERE AND IT IS NOT JUST ONE ASPEN THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM, IT IS SEVERAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE HYDRO-PLANNED AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED A NECK INJURY BUT DID NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK WHEN FILLING UP. IT SPEWS UP TO 1/2 GALLON OF GAS EVERYWHERE. IT SEEMS TO HAVE A DEFECT WITH AIR FLOW. *TR
MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM THE ENGINE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED IN TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED UP. I ONLY HAD 55000 MILES ON THE TRUCK WITH REGULAR MAINTENANCE. I HAD THE TRUCK FULLY SERVICED 2 DAYS BEFORE AS WE WERE OUT OF TOWN. I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH ALL TYPES OF DODGE AND CHRYSLER ENGINES. *TR
WHEN FUELING MY 2008 ASPEN IS COMPLETE IT DOES NOT SHUT-OFF AND GAS SPEWS OUT ALL OVER THE CAR, MYSELF, AND EVERYTHING ELSE. THIS STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND THEN QUIT, IT HAS SINCE STARTED UP AGAIN WITH A VENGEANCE OF AN EXPLOSION OF GASOLINE. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS THE PUMP, BUT I HAVE GONE TO MANY DIFFERENT STATIONS AND THERE SAME THING OCCURS. *TR

UPON PICKING UP THE VEHICLE FROM THE REPAIR SHOP, I WENT TO GET GAS. WHILE FUELING THE TANK SPITS BACK FUEL AND ALSO DISENGAGES THE DISPENSING OF FUEL. I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND HAVE THE SAME ISSUE EACH TIME. FUEL FILLER NECK WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FUEL TANK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

WHEN GAS TANK IS FILLED, GAS SPITS OUT TOWARDS THE END OF THE FILL. *TR
NONE OF THE AIRBAGS ENGAGED. THIS WAS A ACCIDENT THAT HIT A SEMI IN THE FRONT OF CAR. THE WHOLE ENGINE WAS CRUMBLED. NUMEROUS BROKEN BONES FROM HEAD TO CHEST TO KNEE. *TR
MY LIFT GATE ON MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN STRUCK ME IN MY HEAD AS I WAS STANDING UNDER MY GATE TO PUT SOMETHING IN MY TRUNK OF MY VEHICLE WHICH GAVE ME A SERIOUS CONCUSSION. I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF THE SPEED OF WHICH THE GATE HIT ME IN THE HEAD. CHRYSLER DID NOT PAY FOR THIS DEFECT IN WHICH THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AFTER THEY SENT A ADJUSTER FROM DETROIT MI. TO INSPECT MY VEHICLE THAT WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE. THANKYOU *TR
GASOLINE DISCHARGED (APPROXIMATELY 1/4 GALLON) OUT OF FUEL FILLER AFTER GASOLINE FILLER NOZZLE SHUTS OFF AT FILL-UP WHEN TANK REACHES CAPACITY. THIS HAPPENS AT ALL GAS PUMPS, NOT A SPECIFIC STATION. MANY ATTENDANTS AT GAS STATIONS HAVE STATED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS FUEL GETS ON THE GROUND AND ON THE PERSON FUELING. *TR
SUDDENLY ACCELERATION. THIS HAS HAPPEN 4 TIMES WHILE BRAKING. MAJOR DAMAGE WAS SUSTAINED TO THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. DO NOT REMEMBER IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DURING THE TIMES THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION WAS EXPERIENCED. WAS GOING AROUND 5 '' 10 MPH STEPPED ON BRAKE TO STOP AND ENGINE REV''ED UP AND BEFORE I WAS ALE TO TURN KEY OFF OR PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL I HIT A CAMPER. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ON AN ISOLATED ROAD AND WAS ABLE TO STOP THE CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT. I CALL THE CHRYSLER DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD CHECK THAT WOULD VERIFY MY COMPLAINT. ANOTHER TIME WAS ON HIGHWAY AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND TACH WENT TO APPROX. 4000 RPM. AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO PUT OFF THE ROAD SAFELY. *TR
MASSIVE FUEL SPIT BACK ON MY CHRYSLER ASPEN. AT FIRST IT WAS JUST A LITTLE BIT (ALMOST LIKE A SNEEZE) BUT NOW IT IS VOMITING GAS AT EVERY FILL-UP. WE HAVE USED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS...GIANT & 2 DIFFERENT WAWA STATIONS, ALL WITH THE SAME RESULT. *TR
MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN HAS A FUEL TANK PROBLEM. WHEN I FILL THE TANK AT A GAS STATION-THE STATION PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AND GAS WILL COME SPEWING OUT 2-3 FEET OUT OF THE TANK. ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I HAD IT LOOKED AT IT HAS TO DO WITH SOME TANK VENTING ISSUE. AFTER HAVING A CANISTER REPLACED AND NOT FIXING THE PROBLEM I WAS TOLD THE WHOLE TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WHEN YOU FILL UP THE GAS TANK FULL, THE PUMP SHUTS OFF, AND THEN WHEN YOU PULL OUT THE PUMP GAS EXPLODES OUT ALL OVER. IT ACTUALLY SHOOTS OUT GAS, FROM THE GAS TANK, SPEWING OUT EVERYWHERE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. THIS SAFETY ITEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER IN A RECALL. *KB
WHEN FUELING AT ANY STATION FUEL BLOWS OUT THE TANK EVERYWHERE, ABOUT A HALF A GALLON. IT GETS ON THE PERSON FUELING AND THE GROUND, BUT ONLY WHEN FILLED UP UNTIL THE PUMP CUTS OFF. *KB
EVERY TIME WE FILL UP OUR GAS TANK WHEN THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF THERE IS GUSH OF GAS THAT IS SPIT BACK OUT OF THE TANK. WHEN IT FIRST OCCURRED I WAS DRENCHED WITH GAS. THIS IS NOT SAFE AND WHEN THE DEALER CHECKED OUT THE ISSUE THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE FILLER ASSEMBLY AND WOULD COST $800 TO FIX. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND AS I WRITE THIS TODAY THERE ARE 15 OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME CAR AND SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE GAS STATION ATTENDANTS IN NJ TELL ME THEY HAVE THIS HAPPEN ALL THE TIME WITH CHRYSLER CARS MAINLY ASPEN, WRANGLERS AND LIBERTY. EVEN THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO STATED THE FRONT, LEFT AND RIGHT TIE ROD ENDS HAD FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.

SIGNIFICANT OVER FLOW OF FUEL WHEN FILLING AT GAS STATION. AUTOMATIC TRIGGER RELEASE ONLY DEPLOYS AFTER FUEL DISCHARGES FROM FUEL TANK. MANUAL FILLING WORKS NO BETTER. CONSIDERABLE WASTAGE AS WELL AS FIRE HAZARD. *TR
WHEN GAS IS PUMPED INTO THE VEHICLE WHEN IT IS FULL GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE TANK. MANY ATTENDANTS AT GAS STATIONS HAVE STATED THAT THIS IS A CONCERN WITH THE VEHICLE.
EVERY TIME I TRY TO FILL THE TANK ON MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN GAS SPLASHES OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AFTER THE NOZZLE HAS STOPPED. THIS HAPPENS AT STATIONS WITH VAPOR RECOVERY AND WITHOUT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL AND THE REAR AXLE FAILED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST HIM $2,600. THERE WERE NO RECALLS OR WARRANTIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN 4X2. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AUTOMATIC HATCHBACK INDEPENDENTLY CLOSED WITH EXTREME FORCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HATCHBACK WAS DESIGNED TO CLOSE ONLY WHEN THE AUTOMATIC REMOTE WAS DEPRESSED TWICE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REMOTE WAS NOT ENGAGED AND WAS CONCERNED WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THE FAILURE CAUSING INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE GAS POWERED STRUTS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 33,000. UPDATED 06/17/11 *BF UPDATED 06/21/11
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH OVER RAILROAD TRACKS, SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND ONCE THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS LATER WHILE DRIVING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH. ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE TIE ROD ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND AGAIN THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TIE ROD WAS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS AND TIE RODS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN SPITS GAS INTO THE AIR 3 FEET AFTER THE GAS PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF. CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY, AND POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THE PROBLEM BEGAN ABOUT THE TIME THE WARRANTY WENT OFF. CHRYSLER SAYS THE CAR REQUIRES A NEW GAS TANK, AND WILL NOT HONOR THE REPAIR, COST TO REPAIR IS $330 PARTS PLUS LABOR TO INSTALL. *TR

2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON FEBRUARY 10, 2011 THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE, HER DAUGHTER WAS WAITING IN THE TRUCK AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, BUT ASSUMED IT WAS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THEN SHE STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING, SO SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE AND SAW FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. ACCORDING TO THE POLICE AND FIRE REPORT, THE FIRE WAS ATTRIBUTED TO FLAMMABLE LIQUID, GAS FROM THE ENGINE OR BURNED. THE CONSUMER DID SOME RESEARCH AND CAME ACROSS SEVERAL COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. *JB
MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN, 5.7L HEMI, GAS BLOWBACK EVERY TIME I FILL WITH GAS. OCCURS AT DIFFERENT SERVICE STATIONS AND NO MATTER HOW SLOWLY I PUMP AT SELF-SERVICE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AS GAS HAS POURED OUT ON MY CLOTHING AND SHOES AS WELL AS RUNNING DOWN SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *TR

WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK OF MY 2008 CHRYSLER ASPEN, AT THE END OF THE FILL UP, GAS SHOOTS OUT OF THE GAS TANK. ABOUT 7-10 OZ SHOOTS OUT AFTER EVERY FILL UP. I AM NOT TOPPING OFF THE GAS TANK, I AM JUST ALLOWING IT TO STOP AUTOMATICALLY. GAS SHOOTS OUT OVER THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. CHRYSLER ASPEN 2008, PROBLEM WITH ABS WHEN ROADS ARE WET. ABS LOCKED LEFT FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL MAKING THE TRUCK SPING CLOCKCOUNTER WISE. IT HAPPEN TWICE TO MY WIFE, AND THE THIRD TIME HAPPENED TO ME AND HER. I REPORTED TO CHRYSLER BUT THEY REJECT THE CLAIM AFTER THEY SEND AN ENGINEER TO INSPECT THE TRUCK. THEY BLAMING THE BACK TIRES BEEN WORN OUT.
BACK IN APRIL 02, 2010 I FILLED A COMPLAIN AND AS OF RIGHT NOW WE HAVEN'T RECEIVED ANY RESPONSE FOR YOUR DEPARTMENT. (ODI#10323492) AS THE RAINING START HAPPENING AGAIN HERE WE HAVE A SERIOUS CONCERN FOR OUR LIFE WHILE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM WITH OUR VEHICLE IS THAT THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL LOCKED AND THE SUB START SPINNING LEFTWISE. IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES ON FEBRUARY. I REPORTED TO CHRYSLER ON MARCH 02, 2010, THEY SENT AN INSPECTOR AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT, THE CLAIMED OUR BACK TIRES WERE WARNED OUT. WE STRONGLY BELIEVED SINCE HAPPENED THREE TIMES TO US THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK ON A WET WEATHER AND NEEDS TO BE PUT INTO A RECALL OR SOME KIND OF AN ALERT. *TR
WHEN FUELING MY ASPEN, IT REGULARLY SPITS BACK FUEL PRIOR TO THE FUEL SHUT OFF DISENGAGING THE DISPENSING OF FUEL. I'VE USED SEVERAL GAS STATIONS AND HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AT EACH ONE. IT STARTED WITH JUST A LITTLE FUEL SPITTING BACK AND NOW THERE IS PROBABLY TWO TO THREE CUPS THAT FLY OUT OF THE TANK AND IF I'M NOT PAYING ATTENTION IT MAY SPRAY ALL OVER ME. *TT
