TL* THE CONTACT'S SON OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS SON WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH, A STATE TROOPER HAD BEGUN TO WAVE HIS SON'S VEHICLE DOWN. THE TROOPER THEN INFORMED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. ALL OCCUPANTS IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE VEHICLE AND THE STATE TROOPER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. A POLICE AND FIRE REPORT WERE FILED AT THE SCENE AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE IT REMAINED IN HIS POSSESSION. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE DEEMED DESTROYED. THE CONTACT THEN CALLED MCINERNEY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF THUNDER BAY(832 W CHISHOLM ST, ALPENA, MI 49707) WHERE THEY INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 03V471000(FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER HAD YET TO BE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.
DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE WHEN THE CRUISE CUT OUT AND THE ENGINE SKIPPED. PULLED OVER TO CHECK ENGINE FLUIDS AND ALL WERE OK. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER INDICATION OF SOMETHING BEING WRONG. CONTINUED AT APPROX 70 MPH WHEN THERE SEEMED TO BE AN INTERNAL EXPLOSION WITHIN THE ENGINE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO STOP AND ALL FRONT AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. VEHICLE THEN CAUGHT FIRE AND WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED.
THE UNDER CARRIAGE THAT HOLDS ENGINE IN PLACE IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. I BOUGHT BRAND NEW TIRES FROM BELLE TIRE ON SEPTEMBER 9, 2020. BY NOVEMBER 1 2020 I WAS OBSERVING EXTREME WEAR ON THE BRAND NEW TIRES. WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE CRADLE RUST ROT, AND THE ENGINE IS ABOUT READY TO FALL OUT AND WOULD CAUSE CATASTROPHIC EMERGENCY I AND MY FAMILY COULD DIE. TRYING TO FIND REPLACEMENT AND AM BEING TOLD IT IS SUCH A PROBLEM THAT THERE IS NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, AND MY LIGHTS ALL LIT UP, CAR STALLED, AND MY DASH BOARD SAID NO BUS
THE VEHICLE DOES WHEN IN REVERSE AND YOU STEP ON THE ACCELERATOR. GAS GAUGE READS EMPTY EVEN WITH FUEL IN IT AND FLUCTUATES BETWEEN EMPTY AND FULL. VEHICLE STALLS WHEN GOING AROUND A CORNER OR COMING TO A STOP.. FOUL SMELL COMING FROM THE EXHAUST INTO THE CAB. ALL DASH GAUGES GO OFF. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. RECEIVED TWO DIFFERENT CODES 1) O2 SENSOR BAD & 2) P1861.
ITS THROWING A PCM CODE AN THE CAR IS STALLING SO BAD IN THE MODDLE OF DRIVING I HAVE BEEN STUCK SEVEREAL TIMES AN I THUNK THERE IS A FUEL LEAK I SMEELL GAS SO BED ITS THROING PO300 CODE AN WONT CHANFE EVEN WHEN I GOT ALL THE PARTS I SEE THERE IS A RECALL ON MY YEAR OF CAR CAN SOMWONW HWLP MW I CANT KEEO CUTTING OFF ILL WRECK
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SERVICE. SHOP WOULD NOT WORK ON VEHICLE STATING THE DETERIORATION OF THE SUBFRAME WAS TO EXTENSIVE AND THEY WOULD NOT WORK ON IT. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION SHOWED THE FRAME IN A GREAT STATE OF DECAY, WITH SOME PLACES ONLY BEING HELD TOGETHER WITH THIN STRIPS OF METAL. THESE VEHICLES WERE RECALLED IN THE PAST FOR DEFECTIVE FRAMES HOWEVER NOT ALL WERE RECALLED AND THIS IS ONE VEHICLE THAT WAS NOT. THE MOTOR IN THESE VEHICLES WILL FALL OUT AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHICH COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE. THESE FRAMES ARE DEFECTIVE IN WORKMANSHIP FROM THE FACTORY AND SHOULD BE HANDLED BY THE FACTORY ACROSS ALL 2004-2008 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S AFFECTED BY DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT KNOWINGLY INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY THAT WILL LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. THOUSANDS OF THESE VEHICLES ARE ON THE ROAD TODAY WITH OCCUPANTS UNKNOWINGLY DRIVING THESE VEHICLES WHICH ARE "TICKING TIME BOMBS". *TR
UPON TAKING A THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC, I WAS INFORMED THE SUBFRAME WHICH SUPPORTS THE ENGINE IS RUSTING TO THE POINT IT WILL NOT HOLD THE ENGINE CAUSING CATASTROPHIC FAILURE. I HAVE BECOME AWARE CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE FUTURE FAILURE AND WILL NOT FIX IT.
ENGINE STALLS FOR NO REASON INDICATED BY ENGINE CODES. VEHICLE WAS COMING TO A STOP. WAS BACKING UP ONCE. JUST IDLING AND STALLED. SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING IT FEELS AS IF NOTHING IS HAPPENING WHEN I ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE. HAS DONE THIS BEFORE THE DATE SUBMITTED. DIFFERENT DATES.
DRIVER FRONT TURN SIGNAL QUIT WORKING. DRIVER REAR STILL WORKS IT IS NOT THE BULB NO SIGNS OF BROKEN OR BURNT WIRES. CHECKING WEB SITES A LOT OF OWNERS HAVING SAME PROBLEM. NO ONE HAS REASON FOR PROBLEM YET. WHEN USING TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR FLASHES REAL FAST LIKE A BULB BURNED OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED INDEPENDENTLY AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ON FOUR OCCASIONS HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BROOKFIELD CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (1845 PIPESTONE RD, BENTON HARBOR, MI 49022), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE OXYGEN SENSOR WAS REPLACED SEVEN TIMES HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE FRAME RAIL WAS ROTTED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,000.
CAR RUNS AND DRIVES WELL. HOWEVER, OUR MECHANICE SAYS THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED SO IT WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION.
ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING ON A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, I FOUND IT DURING AN OIL CHANGE
Subframe/Engine Cradle failed due to rust. Subframe is available for inspection upon request. My safety or the safety of others is put at risk due to the failed (rusted, corroded, rotted) subframe/engine cradle. Vehicle’s engine is at risk of falling through the vehicle’s frame at any moment whether the vehicle is parked or being driven. This problem has been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. The vehicle and the subframe component has been inspected by a Master ASE Certified Mechanic. No symptoms of the problem prior to the failure that owner has ever been made aware of.
I HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAD NEW BRAKES STRUTS DONE WAS TOLD MY ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED SO BAD ONE POTHOLE BUMP IN ROAD MY ENGINE COULD DROP OUT OF CAR ENDANGERING MY FAMILY
VEHICLE.JUST QUIT RUNNING.AND WOULDN'T START.AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION
TOOK A SHORT DRIVE. TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES SMOKE AND FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE HOOD. GRABBED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER OPENED THE HOOD AND PUT OUT THE FIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE AIR FILTER HOUSING WAS MELTED.EMBERS WERE STILL SPREADING ALONG THE INSULATION ATTACHED TO THE HOOD. MANUALLY REMOVED THE SPREADING EMBERS WITH SOME TOOLS. NOT SURE THE CAUSE. ALSO WHY IS THE INSULATION MADE OF A MATERIAL THAT IS NOT FIREPROOF?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WOULD NOT ALLOW FUEL TO FILL TO FULL CAPACITY. THE VEHICLE DID NOT PASS AN EMISSIONS INSPECTION DUE TO THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INEFFECTIVE AND PROVIDED A FALSE READING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE SUB-FRAME HAS RUSTED THROUGH, MY MECHANIC IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF THE ENGINE FALLING OUT IF NOT ADDRESSED. IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE PACIFICA MODEL BUT I DID NOT FIND OUT ABOUT IT UNTIL I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC TO FIND OUT WHY THE CAR WOULD "BOUNCE" WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE CAR IS SHIFTING. HE WAS SHOCKED AT THE AMOUNT OF RUST HE FOUND UNDERNEATH.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT TIRE DISCOUNTERS (7771 FIVE MILE ROAD, CINCINNATI, OHIO 45230, (513) 618-1613) FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE ENGINE CRADLE SUBFRAME WAS FOUND TO BE SEVERELY CORRODED. THE ENGINE CRADLE SUBFRAME WAS NOT REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BY A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED AND THEN FOUND OUT THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS A RUST HOLE IN IT WHICH MAY MAKE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I ALSO LEARNED THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS NO INTENTION OF ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM. CHRYSLER OBVIOUSLY MADE THIS PART SUB-STANDARD AND SHOULD PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT FOR THE SUBSTANDARD PART. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD.
K-FRAME IS ROTTED OUT NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND I WAS TURNING AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN MY CAR MADE A VERY STRANGE SOUND. I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR SO I PULLED OVER AND UPON LOOKING UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND UNDER THE HOOD THE MOTOR HAD SHIFTED DUE TO A ROTTING CRADLE MOUNT.
CAR STARTED ON FIRE UNDER ENGINE AND BURNED COMPLETELY DOWN TO STEAL FRAME. WAS DRIVING TO AKRON OHIO FROM CEDAR SPRINGS MI. HALF WAY THROUGH OUR FIVE HOUR TRIP I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK IN LUNA PIER OH TO CONTINUE ON. CHECKED ALL FLUIDS N TEMP WAS FINE AS WELL GOT BACK ON HWY WENT LESS THEN 3 MILES AND SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND TWO POOF'S OF SMOKE CANE FROM UNDER DASH ON DRIVERS SIDE AND I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF HWY, MY BF GOT OUT N LOOKED UNDER CAR AND THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE, THE FIRE SPREAD VERY SWIFTLY AND WAS UNABLE TO SAVE ANY PERSONAL PROPERTY WE HAD TAKEN FOR OUR WEEKEND GETAWAY. 911 WAS CALLED N FIREMEN WERE DISPATCHED AS WELL AS PARAMEDICS FOR MY BF THAT HAD BEEN BURNED DURING THE INCIDENT TRYING TO PUT THE FIRE OUT.. WE ONKY HAD PLPD INSURANCE AND DID NOT GET REIMBURSED FOR PERSONAL PROPERTY AT ALL. NOT ONLY DID WE LOSE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BUT WE LOST SEVERAL PERSONAL ITEMS WE HAD TAKEN WITH YS, THE PACIFICA WAS PACKED FULL.
HAVE 2004 CHYSLER PACIFICA HAVING ISSUES WITH FUEL SYSTEM TRUCK DRIVES THEN SPUTTER SHUTS OFF TAKE LONG TIME STARTING UP ALSO OVER HEATS NO REASON TRUCKS SHIFTS INTO GEAR 2 BUT DON'T GO SPEED THINK I'M GOING TRANSMISSION SLIPS CAN BE RIDING UP STREET SHUTS OFF ON ME SHIFTS INTO DRIVE WITH RPM SAYING 2
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH IN THE RAIN, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTING AND THE ABS INDICATOR BEGAN TO FLASH. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY JOLTED FORWARD, AND STALLED. THE NEXT DAY, AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
WHEN FUELING GAS PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF NOT LETTING GASOLINE INTO FUEL PUMP. WHEN HALF A TANK OF GASOLINE IS LEFT IN CAR IT AUTOMATICALLY GOES DOWN TO EMPTY ON FUEL GAUGE. EGR VALVE PROBLEM, RPM TOO HIGH WHEN IDLED, FEEL LIKE CAR SLOWS DOWN ON OWN WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE LIGHT ON WITH P0507 CODE: IDLE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM RPM HIGHER THAN EXPECTED AND P1861 FUEL LINE DISCONNECTED
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE MAIN SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED AND MY CAR WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION WITHOUT THIS BEING REPAIRED. I SEE THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER WILL NOT ADDRESS. I NEED HELP
CRADLE ROT. APPLY BRAKES & ENGINE SHIFTS FORWARD.
GAS GAUGE NEEDLE DROPS TO EMPTY WHEN IT GETS TO THE HALF TANK MARK. I HAVE HAD THE CAR STALL AS IF OUT OF FUEL WHEN IT STILL HAS HALF A TANK OF GAS. I AM CONSTANTLY HAVING TO ADD FUEL TO THE TANK AND IT IS SLOW GOING, BECAUSE THE NOZZLE CONSTANTLY SHUTS OFF FROM FUEL BUBBLING OUT. IF THE CAR IS PARKED ON A SIDEWAYS SLOPE, THE FUEL NEEDLE WILL GO BACK UP TO THE ACCURATE AMOUNT, BUT ONCE ON FLAT LAND GOES BACK TO EMPTY. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FROM FULL TANK TO LOW FUEL LIGHT WITHOUT REFUELING. SPECS MAY SHOW 14 GAL. TANK, BUT IN TRUTH, ONLY 7 OR SO GAL. IS ALL THAT IT OPERATES ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE CHECKING FOR THE SWAY BAR LINK UNDER THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SIDE PANEL FRAME WAS CORRODED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SOUTH CHICAGO DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP (7400 S WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60636), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 33832631 BEFORE REFERRING THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WE OWN A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH AROUND 117K MILES ON IT. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES IT. WHILE CHANGING THE ENGINE OIL ON IT LAST WEEKEND, I NOTICED SEVERE CORROSION (PERFORATION ACTUALLY) OF THE VEHICLE ENGINE CRADLE. THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CROSS MEMBER IS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH ON THE BOTTOM AND THE DRIVER SIDE IS ABOUT 70% RUSTED THROUGH. AS THIS CROSS MEMBER IS WHAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IN THE VEHICLE AND ACTS AS THE BASE OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION, I DON'T BELIEVE THIS VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE ANYMORE. SHOULD THIS STRUCTURAL COMPONENT FAIL DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING, I BELIEVE THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME UNSTABLE AND UNCONTROLLABLE WHICH WOULD BE A HAZARD TO THE DRIVER, PASSENGERS AND OTHER MOTORISTS. YES, WE LIVE IN WISCONSIN (PART OF THE SALT BELT), BUT THIS AMOUNT OF CORROSION ON SUCH A CRUCIAL STRUCTURAL COMPONENT IS CRAZY! THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN ON THE ROAD FOR 14 YRS AND FOR ONLY 117K MI. I WOULD UNDERSTAND IF THE BODY STARTED TO DETERIORATE IN THAT AMOUNT OF TIME, BUT NOT A SUPPORTING FRAME MEMBER. I DON'T BELIEVE THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS PROPERLY TREATED AGAINST CORROSION, OR THE DESIGN OF THE CRADLE MADE IT SUSCEPTIBLE TO EXCESSIVE LOCALIZED CORROSION AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR REPAIRS.
ENGINE STALLING DURING OPERATION. TOOK TO PIERCE AUTO CENTER IN SAGLE IDAHO PROBLEM WAS NOT RECTIFIED.
ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT-HAD TO BE REPLACED. CHRYSLER FAILED TO PROPERLY COAT THE ENGINE CRADLES WHICH ALLOWED RUST TO DAMAGE THE CRADLES AND CREATE A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT.
THERE WAS A KLUNK IN FRONT END-TOOK TO MECHANIC-THE SUBFRAME ON THE VEHICLE IS RUSTED AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD.
SUB FRAME ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED TO THE POINT THE MECHANIC ADVISED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE ANY LONGER. JAPANESE METAL COATING ISSUE OR CHRYSLER RECALL NEEDED? I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN THINKING I HAVE A CV SHAFT GOING OUT AS IT MADE NOISE WHEN TURNING. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE FRAME ON BOTH SIDE ARE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE FRAME IS TWISTING. THE REPAIR WOULD COST MORE THAN THE WORTH OF THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE BRAND NEW AND TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF IT. EVEN THE BODY IS RUSTING BADLY. ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING THROUGH: I TOOK MY WIFE'S 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH 185,000 MILES ON IT TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC FOR A SMALL TRANSMISSION LEAK. ONCE HE GOT THE CAR UP ON THE LIFT HE NOTICED THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING THROUGH. HE TOLD ME HE THOUGHT THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND SEEN THAT THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF FOLKS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CASE NUMBER: 3571359 AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO HAVE A AUTHORIZED CHRYSLER SERVICE DEALER INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND THEY WOULD SEE WHAT THEY COULD DO. I TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE DEALER AND HAD IT INSPECTED. THEY SAID THAT THE CRADLE WAS PERFORATED AND RUSTED THROUGH AND THAT IT WAS PAST IT'S WARRANTY BY YEARS AND MILEAGE. I SENT THAT INFORMATION TO CHRYSLER AND THEY EMAILED ME BACK AND SAID THAT THEY REVIEWED THE INFORMATION THAT THE DEALERSHIP REPORTED BUT IT WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THE CAR IS PAST THE YEARS AND MILEAGE OF IT'S WARRANTY. I SENT THEM AN E-MAIL SAYING HOW DISAPPOINTED I AM ABOUT THERE DECISION TO DO NOTHING ABOUT AN ISSUE THEY KNEW THEY HAD. MY WIFE LOVES HER PACIFICA, WE HAVE OWNED IT OVER 12 YEARS. SHE BOUGHT IT AS A DEMO. IT STILL RUNS GREAT, IT STILL LOOKS GREAT AND EVEN WITH THE 185,000 MILES ON IT THE ONLY THING THAT IS WRONG WITH IT IS THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING THROUGH. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE COULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED YEARS AGO IF CHRYSLER HAD SENT US A RECALL OR SOMETHING TO TELL US THAT THE CRADLE METAL WAS INFERIOR AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED / REPAIRED SOONER BEFORE OUR WARRANTY RAN OUT. NOT TO MENTION THAT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY CONCERN IF THE CRADLE WOULD HAVE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE ENGINE FELL OUT. I THINK THIS IS A COSTLY REPAIR THAT WE SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAD TO DO. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD HELP US WITH THE RESOLUTION OF GETTING OUR CAR REPAIRED SINCE THEY KNEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND DIDN'T TELL US.
CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICED MY CAR WITH A OIL CHANGE. I WAS TOLD MY CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO MOTOR MOUNT RUSTED. I HAD TO SIGN A PAPERS THAT THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE, THEY CAN'T RELEASE THE CAR TO ME. FRAME IS ROTTED AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I DIDN'T EXPECT THIS AND WASN'T READY TO BUY ANOTHER CAR. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS PROBLEM WAS A RECALL FOR CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THANKFULLY I WAS TOLD BEFORE SOMETHING HAPPENED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME TO THE VEHICLE WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (NELSON AUTO GROUP CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, RAM, 481 S. MAIN STREET, MT VICTORY, OH 43340) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. A LOANER VEHICLE WAS PROVIDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WOULD NOT ASSIST DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 300,000.
DURING A STATE INSPECTION IN NOV, 2017, I FOUND OUT THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE FRAME, ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, IS RUSTED. I CALLED CHRYSLER TODAY, ON 800-992-1997, TO FIND OUT IF THERE IS A RECALL. SADLY I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NONE. THE STRANGE THING IS THAT NO OTHER PART OF THE CIRCLE SHOWS ANY RUSTED PART.
ROTTED SUBFRAME. ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC AT A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE THAT HE WOULD NOT DRIVE THE CAR.
CAR EXPLODED WHILE PARKED AFTER DRIVING
WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH TO PICK UP MY SON FROM SCHOOL THE VEHICLE STOPPED ACCELERATING (JUST AFTER PUTTING A HALF A TANK OF GAS IN) AND SPUTTERED A BIT LIKE IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF GAS. IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP AGAIN AND AFTER MY HUSBAND INSPECTED IT AND TESTED THE FUEL SYSTEM, SAYS IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL TO THE MOTOR! IF I WEREN'T DRIVING WHERE I WAS AND ABLE TO PULL OFF ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE ELSE (LIKE MY SMALL CHILD OR SOMEONE ELSE) OR BEEN KILLED MYSELF. VERY SCARY AND AWFUL!
BOUGHT MY 2004 PACIFICA FROM A DEALERSHIP USED ON JUNE 5 2017 AT THAT TIME I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. NOTHING SAID ABOUT THE CRADLE ALMOST RUSTED OFF ON RIGHT SIDE. TOOK PACIFICA TO GET TIRES CAUSE I PLANNED A 1500 MILE TRIP IN A FEW DAYS AND WANTED GOOD TIRES. NEEDLESS TO SAY BESIDES $400 IN TIRES I HAD TO PUT $1800 INTO PARTS AND LABOR FOR STRUTS, TIE RODS, ARMS, BRAKE PADS, ROTORS AND VALVE STEMS. WAS SHOWN THE RUSTED CRADLE THAT WAS 3/4 RUSTED THROUGH AND TOLD IT SHOULD GET CHANGED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO TAKE ON MY TRIP. WHILE DRIVING WHEN GOING 25-35MPH WITH MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL IT CHUGS LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS AND HAVE ALSO NOTICED IT NOW WHEN GOING 55 AND TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL IT DOING THE SAME THING. THERE'S BEEN 4 OR SO TIMES THE FUEL INDICATOR HAS GONE DOWN TO EMPTY AND BACK UP AGAIN ONCE WHILE IDLING IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND ALMOST DIED TWICE. NEEDLESS TO SAY BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE OCTOBER 3, THEY CHANGED OIL AND DID AN INSPECTION- MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE AND NEED TO TALK TO THE DEALER WHO SOLD ME THE VEHICLE. RIGHT SIDE OF CRADLE TOTALLY RUSTED OFF. SO WHY DID THEY EVEN SELL THE CAR WHEN THEY KNEW IT WAS UNSAFE OR EVEN SELL ME PART BECAUSE IT WAS UNSAFE? DEALERSHIPS AND TIRE DEALERSHIPS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF OLDER PEOPLE AND WOMEN! I WILL BE GOING INTO BOTH THESE PLACES AND NEEDLESS TO SAY STILL PAYING ON THE REPAIR WITH THEIR CREDIT CARD. I CANNOT DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND PUT A FEW MORE THOUSAND DOLLARS INTO IT. I ALSO HAD A NEW BATTERY PUT IN CAUSE NOT EVEN A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING IT IT WOULDN'T START AND NEEDED AN INTERSTATE BATTERY! I CANNOT BELIEVE CHRYSLER IS BEING SO NEGLIGENT ABOUT PUTTING A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES. I'VE ONLY OWNED CHRYSLER, DODGE AND PLYMOUTH VEHICLES THE 44YEARS I BEEN DRIVING.
I GAVE MY DAUGHTER MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SO SHE WOULD HAVE A VEHICLE THAT WOULD TRANSPORT HER, HER TWO CHILDREN AGES 7 AND 2, HER HUSBAND AND FRIENDS, PETS AND/OR OTHERS. HER HUSBAND IS A MECHANIC AND AS SOON AS SHE GOT IT HOME HE LOOKED IT OVER AND REFUSED TO LET HER DRIVE IT. HE SAID THAT THE SUB-FRAME WAS RUSTED-OUT AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH INTO THE MATTER I DISCOVERED THAT WHAT HE REFERRED TO AS A SUB-FRAME WAS CALLED THE "ENGINE CRADLE" AND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE PACIFICA(S). THERE WERE SERVICE BULLETINS SENT TO SERVICE CENTERS AND THAT CHRYSLER ACKNOWLEDGED A PROBLEM FOR THE PACIFICA BUILT FOR ONLY A FEW MONTHS. THE PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED ON MANY OTHER MONTHS AND YEARS. THE POTENTIAL FOR DEATHS AND INJURIES IS A REALITY! IF THIS ENGINE CRADLE WERE TO GIVE WAY AT SLOW SPEEDS THERE WOULD PROBABLY ONLY BE INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS, UNLESS ANOTHER VEHICLE WERE INVOLVED IN WHICH CASE MORE INJURIES AND DEATH COULD OCCUR. IF THE ENGINE CRADLE WERE TO FAIL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE ENGINE HIT THE HIGHWAY I CAN ENVISION AN END-OVER-END CRASH THAT WOULD LIKELY KILL THE OCCUPANTS. IF THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES INVOLVED THERE IS NO TELLING HOW MANY INJURIES AND DEATHS THERE MAY BE. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAS HAPPENED YET AND IF SO HOW MANY TIMES AND TO WHAT SEVERITIES, BUT MY DAUGHTER, MY GRANDCHILDREN AND SON-IN-LAW ARE NOT GOING TO BE VICTIMS. I SERIOUSLY HOPE THAT IT DOES NOT TAKE THE LOSS OF LIFE OR LIVES TO HAVE THIS POTENTIALLY DEADLY PROBLEM ADDRESSED AND CORRECTED. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS HIGHER THAN THE WORTH OF THE VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER MUST ABSORB THE COST THE REPAIR.
