TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO REPLACE THE STARTER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOTOR CRADLE WAS CORRODED AND THE STARTER WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000. UPDATED 8/19/15*CN
MY REPORT IS SO SIMILAR TO 10722720 AND THE OTHERS WHO HAVE REPORTED RUSTING THROUGH OF THE ENGINE FRAME. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES BECAUSE THE WHEEL COULD COLLAPSE. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS HAD INDOOR PARKING. I ASKED IF SALT IS THE CULPRIT BUT THE OWNER/MECHANIC SAID IT IS CORRODING FROM WITHIN. COST TO REPAIR: $3000.
LETTER FROM SENATOR GARRETT ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AIRBAG. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG PANEL OPENED AND THE AIR BAG COULD BE SEEN. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH THE AIR BAG ITSELF. *JB
ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THROUGH. MECHANIC TOLD ME THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. I BOUGHT IT FROM A DEALER THAT GAVE THE VEHICLE A CLEAN SAFETY INSPECTION EVEN WITH THE DANGEROUS ENGINE CRADLE. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER BUYING THE CAR BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS SOMETHING I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE UP WITH CHRYSLER. CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP (ERNIE VON SCHLEDORN) I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM, REFUSE TO REPAIR OR ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY.
WHILE IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS RUSTED THROUGH. I WAS TOLD THE SAME THING LAST YEAR ALSO. I WAS INFORMED THAT NOW IT HAS RUSTED THROUGH TO WHERE IT MAY NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE SINCE THE ENGINE COULD SHIFT ON THE RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. LOOKING ONLINE I SEE THAT MANY 2004, 2005 PACIFICAS HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND MANY HAVE BEEN TOLD BY CHRYSLER CORP., AS I WAS LAST YEAR, THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT MANUFACTURED WITHIN THE 2 MONTHS WHERE THEY SAY THEY HAD MANUFACTURING PROBLEMS AND HAD FIXED THOSE THAT THEY SAY WERE DEFECTIVE. CHRYSLER HAS REPAIRED MANY PACIFICA ENGINE CRADLES, ACCORDING TO INFORMATION ONLINE, BUT ONLY AFTER HAVING AN OUTSIDE INVESTIGATING AGENCY LIKE A TV STATION OR OTHER ENTITY GETTING INVOLVED. THIS APPARENTLY IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS WITH A RECALL OR REPAIR. MY REQUEST FOR REPAIR IS ON FILE WITH CHRYSLER CORP. FROM MY CONTACT WITH THEM LAST YEAR.
WAS LOOKING UNDERNEATH MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND NOTICED A HOLE IN THE ENGINE CRADLE (SUB FRAME). TOOK VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR EVALUATION OF ENGINE CRADLE. SERVICE MANAGER STATED AFTER EVALUATION OF VEHICLE THAT ENGINE CRADLE HAS A PERFORATION (HOLE) IN IT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE ENGINE CRADLE COULD BREAK WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.. HE LOOKED UP SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 13-001-12 . THE SERVICE BULLETIN STATES CHRYSLER WILL FIX VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN FEBRUARY 23, 2004 THROUGH MARCH 31, 2004. WHEN SERVICE MANAGER LOOKED UP BUILD DATE FOR MY VEHICLE, IT WAS BUILT ON FEBRUARY 16, 2004. SINCE MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT 6 DAYS BEFORE FEBRUARY 23 HE COULD NOT FIX VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. HE ADVISED ME TO CALL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE. I DID SO ON MAY 29,2015. THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS BUILT 6 DAYS BEFORE FEBRAURY 23. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK WITH HER SUPERVISOR, SHE REFUSED SAYING ,HE WILL REFUSE CLAIM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. IF ENGINE CRADLE BREAKS WHILE DRIVING, YOUR SUSPENSION WILL BREAK COLLAPSING THE WHEEL UNDER THE VEHICLE CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THIS COULD LEAD TO SERIOUS INJURY AND POSSIBLY DEATH OF OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLE AND OTHER VEHICLES THAT MAY BE INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT. ON THE SAFERCAR.GOV SITE MANY PEOPLE HAVE FILED COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE ORDER A RECALL OF THE 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR THIS PROBLEM. CHRYLER WON'T DO IT UNLESS FORCED TO DO SO. NHTSA PLEASE DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND ORDER A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU
THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE PART OF THE FRAME IS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. THIS IS THE IDENTICAL RUST CLAIMED UNDER THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE LAWSUIT THAT WAS FILED IN THE UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE SOUTHERN DISTRICT OF OHIO-EASTERN DIVISION - HOLLAND, JR. ET AL V. FCA US LLC. THIS IS ALSO THE SAME RUST COVERED IN THE CHRYSLER TSB BULLETINS.
THE SUB FRAME OF MY 2004 PACIFICA IS RUSTED VERY BAD WITH HOLES IN THE FRAME. MY MECHANIC SAYS IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CHRYSLER SAYS THEY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
SERVICE APPOINTMENT TO REPAIR AC, WHEN MECHANIC NOTICED SUBFRAME BADLY RUSTED. DETERMINED TO NEED REPLACEMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. VEHICLE OUTSIDE OF NOTED EXTENDED WARRANTY ARRANGEMENT FOR 2005. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD THAT SHOULD BE UNDER A RECALL. I WAS TOLD SUBFRAME MAY BE REPLACED AT COST; CHECKING WITH CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN MN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING INSPECTED, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD A HOLE THAT RUSTED THROUGH. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
TECHNICIAN FOUND PERFORATION ON THE FRONT SUBFRAME/CRADLE AREA ESTIMATED COST TO REPLACE $ 2,566.62.
I WAS GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE AND THEN A SMELL OF BURNT RUBBER STARTED COMING THROUGH THE CAR I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF POPPED THE HOOD AND FOUND A FIRE ON MY ALTERNATOR . I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BUT MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS, THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE SUB FRAME WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE TIRES SQUEALED AND THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL LEANED INWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STRUT, STRUT MOUNT, TIE ROD, AND ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE ENGINE CRADLE OF THE 2004 PACIFICA HAS RUSTED SEVERELY. ONE SIDE APPEARS TO BE ALL THE WAY THROUGH WHILE THE OTHER SIDE IS ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY THROUGH. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, ORIGINAL OWNER, 60306 MILES. CAR WAS BEING SERVICED AND THE SUBFRAME HAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT, MAKING THE CAR UNDRIVEABLE. CONTACTED LOCAL DEALER AND WAS GIVEN CHRYSLER CUST SERVICE NUMBER. CAR BUILT IN SEPT 2003, SAID DOS NOT QUALIFY FOR CHRYSLER (APPARENTLY SECRET) EXTENDED WARRANTY. FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER, BUT THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY REPLY TO THEIR "REVIEW" . WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT WE WERE NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED, OR KILLED AS A RESULT OF THIS QUALITY ISSUE..... AND SUBSEQUENT REFUSAL TO CORRECT BY CHRYSLER. ANYWAY TO INVESTIGATE THIS CONSUMER SAFETY ISSUE? *TR
A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED ON MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AS STATED BELOW. "ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE FUEL PUMP MODULE AND THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) SOFTWARE MAY ALLOW THE ENGINE TO STALL UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS." THE MANUFACTURE IS STATING THAT BECAUSE OF MY VEHICLE'S VIN# IT WASN'T PART OF THIS RECALL# F44. IT IS CLEAR TO ME THAT THE SAME CONDITIONS THAT HAVE HAPPEN TO THE VEHICLES PART OF RECALL# F44 SHOULD PERTAIN TO ANY VEHICLE BUILT PRIOR TO THE DATES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL CHRYSLER IS RECOGNIZING FOR REPAIRS. ALL PACIFICAS SHOULD BE UNDER THE #F44 RECALL NOTICE, NOT JUST A CERTAIN PORTION. I'VE HAD TO REPLACE THE EXACT SAME ITEMS LISTED AS A NECESSARY REPAIR TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AS LIKE RECALL# F44, I TO HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP MODULES, FOR THE LEFT AND RIGHT SIDE. HOWEVER, THE DIFFERENCE IS IT WAS OUT OF MY OWN POCKET FOR THESE REPAIRS. ALL THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO..... AND I AGREE WITH THIS PERSON..... SO I AM RE-POSTING IT... THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED TO MESS UP TELLING ME IT WAS EMPTY AND IT WAS NOT. IT WOULD GO ALL OVER THE PLACE FORM 3/4 TO EMPTY.THIS WENT ON FOR TWO DAYS THEN I WAS GOING DOWN THE ROAD AT 65MPH AND IT SPUTTERED AND I PULLED OVER AND IT WAS NOT RUNNING AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. THE GUY REPLACED BOTH FUEL PUMPS BECAUSE OF THIS NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF MY POCKET. I WAS BROKE DOWN FAR FORM MY HOUSE AND ANY CHRYSLER DEALER, SO I HAD NO CHOOSE BUT HAVE IT DONE SO I COULD GET BACK ON THE ROAD. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PEOPLE. I WAS FEELING A SHIMMY IN THE CAR WHEN I WAS GOING DOWNHILL AND APPLYING MY BRAKES. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HE LIFTED IT UP AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME ROTTED IN HALF AND IS FALLING APART. HIS ADVICE WAS NO TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART THAT IS ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH HOLDS UP THE REAR OF THE ENGINE AND THE FRONT OF THE TRANSMISSION. HE SAID IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN AND WITH IT BEING A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH 115252 MILES ON IT THERE SHOULD NOT BE THIS MUCH RUST. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED CHRYSLER GROUP LLC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY CAN ONLY GO BY MY VIN NUMBER AND THAT WITH MY VIN NUMBER THERE WERE NO RECALLS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING SHE COULD DO. *TR
EVERY 3,000 MILES A OIL CHANGE AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE TO MY CAR HAS BEEN DONE, IN APRIL OF THIS YEAR WHEN THEY PUT IT ON THE LIFT NOTICED ALL THE BIG RUST HOLES UNDERNEATH. THE MECHANIC DID NOT WANT ME TO LEAVE WITH IT SAID IT WAS NOT SAFE. WITHIN A MONTH IT IS BUSTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE CAR WAS THEN JUMPED AND I TRIED TO DRIVE IT AROUND THE CORNER AND IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AGAIN THIS TIME LOSING ALL CONTROL...NO BRAKES OR STEERING. I ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE CARS THAT WERE PARKED. THESE CARS ARE DEATH TRAPS AND NEED TO BE RECALLED! THE WHOLE FRAME IS ALSO ROTTING OUT. IN A PERFECT WORLD I WOULD JUST RUN OUT AND BUY A NEW CAR BUT I AM A MOTHER OF 3 AND THAT'S JUST NOT ABLE TO HAPPEN RIGHT NOW. I'M NOT EVEN SURE IF THE CAR CAN BE REPAIRED. MY 2004 PACIFICA WAS RECENTLY IN FOR OIL CHANGE WHEN MECHANIC SAID THE ENGINE SUB FRAME IS STARTING TO RUST OUT AND THIS WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD TO GO TO JUNK YARD TO FIND SUB FRAME AND SOMEONE WILL NEED TO INSTALL IT. I HAVE SEEN A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT PACIFICA SUB FRAME RUST AND EVEN A CLASS ACTION SUIT FILLED IN OHIO IN JAN 2015. WILL CHRYSLYER COVER THIS ISSUE?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, I LOVE THE WAY THE CAR HANDLES. BUT IT IS COSTING ME A FORTUNE. I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO BE INSPECTED AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS ROTTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT SUSPENSION, STABILIZERS, AND BRAKES NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS NOW THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON IT, YET IT IS AN EXTREME SAFETY PROBLEM. THIS IS A REPLACEMENT THAT COULD COST UP TO $4000. IT IS JUST NOT WORTH THE TROUBLE. *TR
BROUGHT MY CAR INTO CHRYSLER DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND THEY CALLED ME TO SAY THAT THEY WOULD NOT RELEASE THE CAR TO ME BECAUSE THE ENTIRE SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED AND ROTTED OUT IN SPOTS. DEALER TOLD ME THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AS THE REPAIR IS $6500 (BLUE BOOK VALUE ~$3500) AND THIS PROBLEM IS VERY COMMON BUT UNFORTUNATELY THERE'S NO RECALL. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THE JUST SAID I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT HELP, GOODBYE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER , WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE DOORS LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SMOKE STARTED TO EMIT FROM THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT ENGULFED INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 196,000.
BOUGHT CAR IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS INFORMED OF SEVERE RUST ON K FRAME ASSEMBLY AND THAT CAR WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN UNRELATED ISSUE, THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED. ALSO, THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CROSS MEMBER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
CHRYSLER DID NOT PROPERLY COAT THE ENGINE CRADLES WHICH ALLOWED RUST TO DAMAGE THE CRADLES AND CREATE A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. DURING A ROUTINE INSPECTION, MY MECHANIC DISCOVERED THE ENGINE CRADLES WERE RUSTING OUT. THE ENGINE CRADLES WERE REPLACED BEFORE THE ENGINE FELL THROUGH.
I DRIVE A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. I WAS DRIVING A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO AND I HEARD A NOISE UNDER THE HOOD THAT WAS ABNORMAL. THE NOISE CONTINUED EVERY LITTLE BUMP, TURN, ETC. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE HAS RUSTED ALMOST COMPLETELY THROUGH THE METAL. HE MENTIONED THAT CHRYSLER HAD ISSUED A RECALL ON CERTAIN MODELS AND WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL. CAUSING THE ENGINE CRADLE TO CONTACT THE GROUND ON ACCELERATION ALSO THE STEERING TRACK WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THIS CRADLE BECAME NON-FUNCTIONAL. THE CENTER RIPPED OUT OF BOTH REAR MOUNTS AND THERE IS NO MECHANICAL STOP TO PREVENT THE CRADLE FROM SEPARATING FROM THE BODY OF THE CAR WITH AMOUNT FAILURE. THIS CRADLE HAD BEEN REPLACED UNDER AA WARRANTY 14 MONTHS AND 11,000 MI.EARLIER. I HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT CRADLE MOUNTS WERE ALSO SEPARATED AND THEY COULD NOT PUT THE CAR ON THE LIFT TO PICK IT UP DUE SAFETY REASONS AND THE ENGINE CRADLE WOULD COME OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND AFTER ABOUT A WEEK THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD WARRANTY THE MOUNTS AND NO LABOR AND ONLY IF THE REPAIRS ARE DONE AT THE DEALER. THE COST OF THE PARTS IS MINIMAL IN COMPARISON TO THE TOTAL COST OF THE REPAIR AND WHAT COULD VERY EASILY HAVE HAPPENED IF THE MOUNTS HAD FAILED IN A DIFFERENT SITUATION AT A MUCH HIGHER SPEED AND NOT ON A CITY STREET. *TR
