THIS VEHICLE ENGINE CRADLE ASSEMBLY IS RUSTY WITH IN 8 YEARS OF OPERATION. RUSTY ENGINE CRADLE CAUSES SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHER VEHICLES OPERATING NEAR 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ON THE ROAD BECAUSE THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE DURING OPERATION. MANY PACIFICA OWNERS ON LINE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ACCELERATING, A CLUNKING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 186,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I RECENTLY TOOK MY 2004 PACIFICA TO MY MECHANIC TO GET AN OIL CHANGE AND HE ADVISED ME THAT MY SUBFRAME WAS RUSTED, ROTTED AND CRACKED WITH HOLES. HE SAID HE HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT IN HIS MANY YEARS AS A MECHANIC. HE ALSO TOOK PICTURES OF IT TO SHOW ME. I CONTACTED THE LOCAL CHRYSLER AND THE HEADQUARTERS AND ADVISED THEM OF THE SAME. THEY SAID THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT COULDN'T HELP ME BECAUSE MY VEHICLE'S AGE WAS OVER 10 YEARS OLD. I EXPLAINED TO THEM WHAT THE MECHANIC SAID AND THAT THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE NOT BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF THE CAR BUT BECAUSE OF THE DEFECTIVE PART. THEY DO NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT BECAUSE OF THE AGE OF MY VEHICLE THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO HELP ME. HOWEVER, I AM AWARE THAT SOME LOCAL CUSTOMERS IN MY AREA HAD THEIR SUBFRAMES REPLACED BY CHRYSLER "FREE OF CHARGE", BECAUSE THE PARTS EMPLOYEE TOLD ME. HE SAID THAT PICTURES OF THEIR VEHICLES WERE TAKEN WHILE ON THE LIFT AND SUBMITTED TO CHRYSLER AND THEY WERE GIVEN AUTHORIZATION TO REPLACE THE PARTS. HOWEVER, THEY WOULD NOT ACCOMMODATE ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THEM. CHRYSLER PICKS AND CHOSES THE CUSTOMERS THAT THEY WANT TO HELP. ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE IS 10 YEARS OLD AND I DON'T HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH CHRYSLER, I ALWAYS HAVE MAINTAINED THE USE OF MY VEHICLE WITH REGULAR OIL CHANGES, TUNE-UPS, BRAKE REPAIRS, ETC. WITH A PRIVATELY OWNED MECHANIC. THERE IS NO REASON THAT MY VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE A RUSTED, ROTTED PART LIKE THIS ESPECIALLY SINCE I DO NOT LIVE IN A FLOOD ZONE AREA. *TR
MY PACIFICA HAS A RUSTED OUT SUB FRAME ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING THERE WAS A RECALL DONE FOR THOSE BUT ONLY INCLUDED 6 WEEKS WORTH OF VEHICLES MADE BUT THE PROBLEM IS MUCH BROADER THAN THE 6 WEEKS WORTH OF CARS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THREE DIFFERENT REPUTABLE MECHANICS THAT MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE IT IS SO RUSTED THROUGH YOU CAN PUT YOUR HAND THROUGH IT. I HAVE 3 SMALL CHILDREN AND THIS IS OUR FAMILY CAR. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS BEFORE THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT DIE BECAUSE THEIR ENGINE FALLS OUT WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING! I DO HAVE PICTURES THAT WERE TAKEN YESTERDAY. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS!

DEALING WITH A ROTTED K-FRAME CROSSMEMBER FOR THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE; HAS CAUSED THE WHOLE SUSPENSION TO FAIL, EFFECTING STEERING COMPONENTS, AS WELL AS, WEARING OUT OTHER PARTS SUCH AS, ENGINE MOUNTS AND FRONT END BUSHINGS ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
AFTER HAVING MY FRONT TIRES REPLACE MY MECHANIC SHOWED ME PICTURES OF WHAT WAS LEFT OF MY FRAME FROM RUST AND ROT. HE SAID I HAD 2 CHOICES WELD OR REPLACE. I TOOK IT TO A WELDER WHO HAS WELDED FOR 35 YEARS AND COULD REPAIR MOST ANYTHING. AFTER INSPECTING MY FRAME HE SAID THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH METAL LEFT TO MAKE A WELD THAT WOULD HOLD AND STATED IF IT WERE HIS CAR HE WOULD GET RID OF IT NOW. SO I HAD A FRAME ORDERED. ALL I'M LOOKING FOR IS TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY EXPENSES. *TR
I WENT TO HAVE ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD BY THE TECH, THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE AND FRAME WERE SEVERELY CORRODED FROM RUST. HIS RECOMMENDATION WAS TO HAVE IT TAKEN CARE IMMEDIATELY, IT COULD POSSIBLY BE UNSAFE. *TR
I TOOK MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TO HAVE ROUTINE MAINTANENCE DONE ON IT. I WAS TOLD FROM MY MECHANIC THAT MY FRAME WAS RUSTY, ROTTEN AND HAD HOLES IN IT. HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT IT IS DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING AS THE FRAME OF THE CAR IN AN ACCIDENT WILL NOT BE EFFECTIVE AND WOULD BASICALLY CRUMBLE. HE SAID TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT. I TOOK IT AS TOLD TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID CONFIM MY MECHANICS FINDING. THEY HANDED ME A PHONE # TO CHRYSLER. I CALLED AND GOT THE RUN AROUND AGAIN AND AGAIN. YES THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT MY CAR ISNT INCLUDED IN THE 7000 TO BE FIXED. BUT YES IT HAS THE SAME ISSUES, BUT NO WE CANT HELP YOU. IT IS A $2500 FIX THAT CHRYSLER IS WELL AWARE OF. I HAVE POURED OVER ONLINE ARTICLES, NEWS CASTS, ALL CONCLUDING THE SAME THING. SOME GET FIXED AND SOME DONT. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALERSHIP TO FILE A COMLAINT, KEEP ON COMPLAINING AND HOPE CHRYSLER WILL HELP. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN IN DRIVING MY CAR, THERE IS NO SAFETY IN MY CAR RIGHT NOW, NOR IS THERE ANY VALUE TO MY CAR AS EVEN THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME... THEY CANNOT TAKE IT IN ON TRADE OR ANYTHING ELSE FOR THAT MATTER AS IT IS UNSAFE. HELP!!!! IT APPEARS THAT ONLY THE PEOPLE THAT GET ANY HELP ARE THE ONES THAT GO TO THE PRESS/NEWS ETC. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING UNRELATED REPAIRS PERFORMED, THE TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS CORROSION PRESENT ON THE ENGINE CRADLE. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
THE ENGINE CRADLE, WAS RIDDLED WITH CORROSION AND RUST. DURING THE DRIVING THE VEHICLES VIBRATE. MY CAR IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, WE ARE DISCOVERING THAT SUBFRAME AND ENGINE CRADLE RUST. THIS IS ACTUALLY DRIVING TIME BOMBS. *TR

THE UNDERSIDE ENGINE CRADLE SUBFRAME OF MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IS ROTTED AND IN DANGER OF BREAKING APART. I CAN HEAR NOISE WHEN STEERING AND THE CAR HAS A VIBRATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
WAS TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS SEVERELY RUSTED AND MY CAR COULD BE UNSAFE. AFTER CHECKING ON THIS SITE I FOUND THAT CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALL A LOCALE DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE DEPT TOLD ME MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF CHECKING WAS TOLD THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ONLY COVERED VEHICLES MADE FROM FEB. THRU MARCH OF 2004 AND MINE WAS MADE IN JUNE OF 2003. TOO BAD SINCE I AM JUST LIMPING THIS ALONG FOR ANOTHER MONTH TILL I'LL BE BUYING ANOTHER VEHICLE. IT DOES SEEM TO ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS MUCH MORE EXTENSIVE THAN CHRYSLER IS WILLING TO ADMIT, AS I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING. *TR
AFTER MULTIPLE HARD CLUNK SOUNDS AFTER BRAKING, WE INVESTIGATED THE UNDERBODY OF OUR PACIFICA. THE FRAME HAS SEVERE RUST AND SOME GOOD SIZED HOLES PRESENT. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS UNSAFE AND WILL NOT HOLD THE ENGINE SECURELY. THIS CAR HAS NO RUST ON THE EXTERIOR PAINT, ONLY THE UNDER CARRIAGE IS RUSTING OUT. THIS CAR HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT AND MAINTAINED, SO THERE IS NO REASON THIS SHOULD BE OCCURRING. *TR
WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE REACHED 1/3 FULL IT DROPPED TO EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED TO FILL UP BUT THE TANK ONLY TOOK 11 GALLONS LEAVING US TO BELIEVE THE 23 GALLON TANK WAS ABOUT HALF FULL WHEN THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER READING THE CLAIMS LISTED HERE I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE BUT WE THOUGHT IT TRULY WAS EMPTY BECAUSE WHEN THE TANK IS FULL THE GAUGE READS FULL. IT IS THE JUMPING TO EMPTY SO QUICKLY THAT IS THE PROBLEM. THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A PROBLEM FILLING THE TANK (YET). *TR
HAD A VIBRATION. TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR INSPECTION AND THE FRONT SUBFRAME/ ENGINE CRADLE IS CORRODED AND HAS A HUGE RUST HOLE. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS ONE OF THESE. THEY GOT THEIRS INSPECTED AND THEIRS HAS AN ISSUE TOO!! *TR

I WAS DRIVING TODAY AND IT SEEMED THAT MY STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN IF I WAS MASHING THE GAS, HARDER TO TURN TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE CAR. IF THE CAR IS COASTING OR I AM BREAKING THE STEERING IS EASIER TO CONTROL. I HAVE STOPPED AT MY PARENTS HOUSE ON THE WAY HOME TO RESEARCH WHAT COULD BE HAPPENING WITH MY CAR AND FOUND THIS DISTURBING NEWS. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION AND I DON'T HAVE THE FINANCES TO JUST GET ANOTHER CAR...I'M SO FRUSTRATED RIGHT NOW AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO... THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, SHE HAD DIFFICULTY STEERING THE VEHICLE. SHE NOTICED WHEN ACCELERATING, THE VEHICLE WAS HARD TO STEER, BUT WHEN BRAKING OR ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO COAST IT WAS A LITTLE EASIER TO CONTROL. SHE MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD. SHE DISCOVERED A PORTION OF THE SUPPORT FRAME DROPPED FROM THE VEHICLE, AND IT APPEARED THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS CORRODED WITH RUST. UPDATED 12/04/14
SEPT 27, 2014. 3 DAYS AGO I WAS INFORMED THAT THE UNDERSIDE (ENGINE CRDLE SUBFRAME) OF MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS SERIOUSLY ROTTED. 3 MECHANICS AGREED THAT I DEFINITELY AVOID DRIVING IT ANY LONGER. NBC NEWS REPORTED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH AT LEAST 7000 PACIFICA MODELS. THE CAR HAS BARELY 105K MILES AND IS IN OTHERWISE EXCELLENT CONDITION. VIN# IS [XXX]. WHAT MAY I EXPECT IN TERMS OF ASSISTANCE FOR REPAIR COSTS? PLEASE LET ME KNOW THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE FOR THIS VIN#. NBC REPORTED THAT MODELS BUILT BETWEEN FEB 23 AND MAR 31, 2004 ARE ELIGIBLE FOR TOTAL REPAIR COST ASSISTANCE. HOWEVER, ASSISTANCE IS SUPPOSEDLY NOT LIMITED TO THESE DATES. I WAS JUST ADVISED TODAY BY THREE DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS THAT I HAVE A RUSTED ENGINE CRADLE/SUSPENSION. I WAS SHOCKED TO FIND THIS OUT AND THEN AFTER DOING RESEARCH FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED CHRYSLER TO VALIDATE A RECALL AND/OR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT HAD BEEN POSTED COVERING UP TO 10 YEARS 150K MILES. MY CAR FALLS INTO THIS CATEGORY WAS ADVISED THAT THERE IS NO SUCH WARRANTY OR RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE. IT IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND AN EXPENSE THAT SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THIS BELONGS TO MY TEEN DAUGHTER AND I CANNOT HAVE HER UNSAFE! *TR
I AM WRITING BECAUSE I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE IN MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA IS BEGINNING TO RUST THROUGH AND I HAVE TWO VISIBLE HOLES, AT THIS TIME. I WAS TOLD BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF THESE CARS HAVE BEEN GIVEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED FOR $2400. I HAVE A CHRONIC MEDICAL CONDITION, FOR WHICH I HAVE TO DRIVE TO RECEIVE TREATMENTS THREE TIMES A WEEK, PLUS I WORK AND I HAVE TO HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION. I DON'T THINK CHRYSLER IS TAKING THIS DEFECT SERIOUSLY. I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD DO THE RESPONSIBLE THING AND FIX EVERY PACIFICA. ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE'S ENGINE TO ACTUALLY FALL OUT OF THE CAR AND CAUSE A FATALITY? IF SO, THEY WILL BE IN WASHINGTON JUST AS THE GM EXECUTIVES ARE TRYING TO DEFEND THEIR DECISION TO IGNORE A PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF. *TR
WHILE LEAVING A ON RAMP TO US ROUTE 15 S. I ACCELERATED TO WOT(WIDE OPEN THROTTLE) IN ORDER TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC. ONCE I REACHED 60 MPH I PUSHED THE SET BUTTON ON THE CRUISE CONTROL AS I LEFT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE INSTEAD OF HOLDING THE 60 MPH SPEED. I SLOWED DOWN BY PUSHING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT ONCE I LEFT OFF OF THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. I TRIED THE CANCEL BUTTON FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL AND ALSO THE ON/OFF BUTTON, BUT NOTHING WORKED. MY WIFE REACHED OVER AND PULLED THE FLOOR MAT BACK TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT THE MAT AND IT CONTINUED. I PLACED THE SHIFTER IN NEUTRAL AND THE RPM'S WERE AT 3500. I TURNED THE IGNITION SWITCH OFF AND I COASTED. I THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE RPMS IMMEDIATELY WENT TO 3500 AND THEN DROPPED TO 750. I AM AN ASE CERTIFIED MASTER TECHNICIAN AND THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS IN A VEHICLE. I AM GLAD I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY WIFE. ONCE I REACHED MY DESTINATION I DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS A CABLE OPERATED THROTTLE BODY MY ONLY CONCLUSION IS THAT EITHER THE THROTTLE PLATE STUCK, WHICH IT IS CURRENTLY MOVING SMOOTH, OR THE CRUISE CONTROL IS HAVING ISSUES. I AM PLANNING ON TAKING IT TO WORK IN THE MORNING AND TRYING TO DIAGNOSE IT. I HAVE BEEN REPAIRING CARS PROFESSIONALLY SINCE 1992. STARTING IN A FORD DEALERSHIP FOR 8 YEARS, THEN BEING SELF EMPLOYED WITH MY OWN AUTO REPAIR BUSINESS UNTIL MY CURRENT POSITION IN AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY (AC DELCO TSS SHOP) FOR THE PAST 11 YEARS. *TR

TOOK MY CAR TO HAVE A PLASTIC FRONT PANEL PUT BACK ON. THE REPAIRMAN SENT ME PICTURES OF THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT. TOLD ME THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL IT WAS FIXED. CONTACTED LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND GAVE ME INFORMATION TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE. CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND MY VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THE COVERAGE DESCRIBED ON BULLETIN 13-001-12 ISSUED ON MAR 16, 2012 BY CHRYSLER. THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY RELIEF ON THE REPAIRS WHICH WILL BE BETWEEN $3500 AND $4000 DEPENDING ON PARTS COST. MY VEHICLE WAS BUILT SEPTEMBER 18, 2003, AND PUT IN SERVICE ON DECEMBER 22, 2003. THE SERVICE BULLETIN ONLY COVERED VEHICLES FROM FEB 23, 2004 TO MAR 31, 2004. I AM SURE MY VEHICLE IS IN THE SAME CATEGORY AS THE COVERED VEHICLES, SAME RUST PROBLEM, SAME AREAS OF THE CAR, ETC. *TR
2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 16000 MILES AND HAVE HAD IT 6 YEARS NOW. THE LAST 3-4 YEARS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH CONSTANTLY REPLACING HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS, APPROXIMATELY EVERY 6 MONTHS. NOW RECENTLY, BEGINNING SEPT. 2014, THE DRIVER SIDE REAR RUNNING LIGHT WILL NOT COME ON. THE BREAK LIGHT IS FINE AND THE PARKING LIGHT IS FINE, BUT NO RUNNING LIGHT. I KNOW IT IS NOT THE BULB, BECAUSE I USED THE BULB THAT WAS WORKING ON THE RIGHT SIDE AND IT STILL DID NOT WORK. TOOK IT IN TO A LOCAL DEALER ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO AND THEY BASICALLY COULD NOT FIND ANY "PROBLEM". CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE CARS AND FIX THE ONGOING ISSUES. *TR

SEVERE ENGINE CRADLE PERFORATION DUE TO CORROSION WHICH HAS MADE OPERATING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE. THE ENGINE CRADLE (SOMETIMES CALLED THE K-MEMBER) IS CORRODED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE STRESSES AND LOADS FROM DRIVING AND BRAKING ARE LIKELY TO CAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE TO FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY. IT IS RUSTED TO THE POINT HE ADVISED ME TO NO LONGER DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE CRADLE IS RUSTED TO THE POINT YOU CAN NO LONGER SEE WHERE IT IS ATTACHED AND CAN FIT FINGERS IN THE RUST HOLES. I OWN A 2004 CRYSLER PASIFICA THAT I PURCHASED NEW THAT HAS SEVERE RUST OF THE ENGINE CRADLE AKA SUBFRAME WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY OR SELL THE CAR AS WELL. THIS RUST SEEMS ABNORMAL FOR A CAR THAT IS 10 YEARS OLD. I REALIZE THE CAR IS OVER TEN YEARS OLD, BUT THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH 2004-2005 PACIFICAS, AND WANTED TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE RECORD. WHILE IN FOR INSPECTION IN JUNE '14, WE WERE ADVISED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE ASSEMBLY HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND WAS UNSAFE - THEY WOULD NOT PASS IT THROUGH INSPECTION. OTHERWISE, THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, AND HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PROPERLY THROUGHOUT OUR OWNERSHIP. OUR RESEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE INITIAL FACTORY PAINT APPLICATION - IT WAS DEFECTIVE AND ALLOWED FOR PREMATURE CORROSION OF THE CRADLE ASSEMBLY. THERE ARE MANY INSTANCES OF THIS POSTED ON THE INTERNET (SOME OF WHICH HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER - BUT NOT ALL). THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE ACCIDENTS START HAPPENING (ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN INVOLVED GIVEN THIS VEHICLE IS A MINIVAN). *JS
