TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH, THE FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY DECREASED FROM HALF FULL TO EMPTY AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVED TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER REFUELING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000.
VEHICLE WAS TOOK OFF OF THE DRIVEWAY AND FEW SECONDS LATER OIL FROM ENGINE CAME TO BE SPILLED OFF FROM BOTTOM OF ENGINE, VEHICLE WAS TOOK TO MECHANIC AND IT WAS REVISED, PROBLEM LOOKS TO BE THAT OIL WAS COMING OFF THE MOTOR FROM OIL FILTER GASKET; THOUGH SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH FILTER GASKET, OIL FILTER WAS REPLACED WITH NEW ONE AND NEW OIL WAS PLACED AT ENGINE, WHEN MOTOR WAS STARTED UP IT WAS NOTICED THAT OIL PRESSURE WAS CONTAINED INTO THE OIL FILTER AND IT CAUSES THE NEW FILTER TO BLEW OUT; MECHANIC WAS CONFUSED AT THE MOMENT; NEED TO MENTION THAT I HAVE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THIS SPECIALIZED MECHANIC SHOP SINCE 2 YEARS AGO AND WE HAVE NEVER NOTICED SOMETHING SIMILAR. AFTER SPENDING FEW HOURS REVIEWING THE VEHICLE MOTOR IT WAS NOTICED THAT THE SPRING THAT GOES INTO THE OIL PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE WAS BROKE. NOT REALLY KNOW HOW THIS SPRING CRACK, ALL OIL SERVICES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE MOTOR EVERY 3000 MILES AND VEHICLE HAD ALL SERVICES PER THE MAINTENANCE MANUAL. THIS DEFECTIVE SPRING CAUSES THAT VEHICLE DRAINS ALL ENGINE OIL FROM FILTER, LUCKILY IT HAPPENED CLOSE HOME AND TO MECHANIC SHOP AND NOT AT HIGHWAY, OTHER WAY I COULD BE ENDED WITH A TOTAL WRECK ENGINE. NO WARNING LIGHT WHEN ON, IT CAME ON UNTIL ALL OIL WAS TOTALLY DRAINED FROM ENGINE. HOPE THIS CAN BE ADDRESSED TO CHRYSLER, I DO NOT WANT IT HAPPEN TO ANOTHER PERSON AND IT CAUSES A MAJOR DAMAGE TO ENGINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED, THE TECHNICIAN DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR MOTOR MOUNT WAS RUSTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
THE SUBFRAME OF THE CAR IS RUSTING TERRIBLY. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT IT WILL BECOME A HAZARD TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THE FUTURE. WE WERE ADVISED TO REPLACE THE SUBFRAME FOR SAFETY PURPOSE. I RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. I HAVE ALWAYS MAINTAINED OUR VEHICLES AND HAVE OWNED VEHICLES LONGER THAN THIS. THIS VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECTED TO HARSH CONDITIONS AND SHOULD NOT BE SHOWING THIS LEVEL OF DESTRUCTIVE RUST. WE ASK THE NHTSA TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE TO HAVE THESE PARTS REPLACED FOR SAFETY PURPOSES. I BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT ALTERING THE PUBLIC TO THIS VERY STRONG POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WHICH I AM AFRAID WILL CAUSE HARM OR POTENTIAL DEATH IF THE FRAME ON THESE VEHICLES GIVES OUT. I HAVE HAD TONS OF MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE AND REPLACED 2 ALTERNATORS WITHIN A COUPLE MONTHS OF EACH OTHER, ONE WAS REPLACED ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. I WAS DRIVING IN A SCHOOL ZONE TO DROP MY DAUGHTER OFF AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE STARTER, BATTERY, ALTERNATORS (2), AND ITEMS WITH THE TIRES AND SUSPENSION. THIS CAR MAKES LOUD CLINKING NOISES AND COMING TO A STOP YOU CAN HEAR A LOUD KNOCK SOUND. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE REQUIRED TO FIX VEHICLES INSTEAD OF SAYING THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHEN APPLYING HEAVY BREAKING OR HEN ATTEMPTING A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR MOTOR MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING A STATE INSPECTION PERFORMED, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR THE MOTOR MOUNTS FRACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE MOTOR MOUNTS WERE NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING REGULAR MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
OCTOBER 31, 2012; THE CHRYSLER DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT NOTED THE OWNER THAT THE ENGINE SUBFRAME (ENGINE CRADLE) HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND ADVISED THE OWNER THAT THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE AND POSSIBLE INJURY OR DEATH DUE TO LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AT THIS DEALERSHIP, REGISTERED, SERVICED, AND DRIVEN IN THE CHRYSLER DESIGNATED "SALT BELT" STATE OF OHIO FOR ITS ENTIRE SERVICE LIFE (STILL IN SERVICE, STILL IN OHIO, STILL OWNED BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER). APPARENTLY THERE WAS A CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN LETTER IN NOV. 2010 THAT WENT OUT TO VEHICLE OWNERS IN THIS AREA FOR THIS YEAR-MODEL VEHICLE, REGARDING THIS POTENTIAL CONDITION. HOWEVER, THIS OWNER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. WHEN THIS LETTER WAS ISSUED, THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN INSIDE THE 10 YEAR/150,000 MILE SERVICE WINDOW AND QUALIFIED UNDER THE EXTENDED CHRYSLER WARRANTY. FORTUNATELY, NO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OCCURRED BEFORE THIS CONDITION WAS CORRECTED. THE CHRYSLER DEALER MADE AN OFFER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR $798, WHICH WAS ACCEPTED AND THE VEHICLE MADE ROADWORTHY ONCE AGAIN. CHRYSLER SHOULD REIMBURSE THE OWNER FOR THE REPAIR CHARGES SINCE NO NOTIFICATION WAS EVER RECEIVED BY THE OWNER REGARDING THE WARRANTY EXTENSION, THE RISK IF NOT REPAIRED, OR THE PROCEDURES NECESSARY TO MITIGATE THE DEFECT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATED IN A JERKING MOTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE EGR VALVE WAS REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V113000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM) HOWEVER, THE CONTACT'S VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,813.
I WAS HAVING PACIFICA SERVICED AT GOODYEAR STORE IN NEWPORT, KY PRIOR TO DRIVING TO FLORIDA. MECHANIC CALLED ME TO SERVICE AREA TO SEE SERIOUS RUST THROUGH ON FRONT FRAME RAILS AND ENGINE CRADLE. HE SAID "DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR TO FLORIDA. THE ENGINE COULD DROP IF FRAME BREAKS". I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO WYLER CHRYSLER AND HAD THE RUSTED FRAME REPLACED. I LATER FOUND THAT CHRYSLER HAD EXTENDED THEIR WARRANTY TO SPECIFICALLY COVER THIS PROBLEM. I DID FILE A CLAIM WITH CHRYSLER AND THEY DID REIMBURSE ME 80% OF THE REPAIR COST. I AM NOW SEEING, ON EDMUNDS.COM CHAT SITE THAT THERE ARE MANY MORE OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME RUST OUT PROBLEMS WITH THEIR PACIFICAS. A RUSTED FRAME BREAKING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS COULD BE DISASTROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN DRIVE, THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE HEARD AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH ALL OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V113000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE -TCM, PCM) BUT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FAILED DURING A MILD RAIN. WE GOT THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALER AND CONTRACTED FOR THEM TO PUT IT ON THE LIFT. WE'VE LEARNED THAT THE MAIN WIRING HARNESSES ON MANY 2004 PACIFICAS - SUCH AS OURS - HAVE COLLECTED WATER FOR YEARS DUE TO THEIR DESIGN ON THE 2004 PACIFICA, AND HAVE COMPLETELY CORRODED. THIS SUBSTANTIALLY COMPROMISED OUR SAFETY, AS WE EXITED THE ROAD HAVING LOST WINDSHIELD WIPERS, ALL ELECTRICAL, ETC., WE ATTEMPTED TO USE THE HORN WHICH ALSO WAS NO LONGER WORKING. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH VERY LOW MILEAGE. IT IS IN GREAT CONDITION UNTIL I STARTED HEARING A NOISE IN THE FRONT END. I TOOK INTO THE GARAGE TO HAVE NEW TIRES AND BRAKES PUT ON IT. WHEN THE MECHANIC PUT IT ON THE RACK, HE SAID THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH. SO, INSTEAD OF NEW TIRES AND BRAKES I NOW NEED A NEW FRAME. I AM JUST THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING WHILE THIS HAPPEN. I WAS WONDERING IF THIS PROBLEM AS AFFECTED OTHER OWNERS ALSO. *TR
I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE SHOP TO GET NEW TIRES AND THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED IN HALF. HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE FRAME OR THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE SAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
SUB FRAME COMPLETELY RUSTED APART, RESULTING IN DANGEROUS FRONT END CONDITIONS AND EXPENSIVE REPAIR. FOUND SIMILAR ISSUES FOR OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS THROUGH RESEARCH AND BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND SHOULD BE COVERED AND RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA MAKES A LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL OF THE TIME, BUT IF YOU TURN RIGHT, THEN TURN LEFT IT WILL POP. IF YOU'RE DRIVING AROUND A SMALL TURN AND IT POPS THE VEHICLE BODY WILL SHIFT AND YOU MOMENTARILY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFIA HAS HAD MANY ISSUES BUT THE ONE THAT I AM MOST CONCERNED ABOUT IS THE RUSTED, CORROSION OF THE ENGINE CRADLE, SUB FRAME. IT IS SO RUSTED THAT I WAS TOLD MY ENGINE MAY FALL OUT. WENT TO SEVERAL JUNK YARDS TO FIND PART AND ALL THE ONES I LOOKED AT HAVE THE SAME THING WRONG WITH THEM. THEY ARE RUSTED OUT AND CANT BE USED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS IN THE VEHICLE FOR TEN MINUTES WHEN SHE BEGAN TO SMELL AN OVERPOWERING GASOLINE ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE ONE OF THE FUEL HOSES HAD BECOME DETACHED, CAUSING THE FUEL PUMP TO FAIL. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE MISSING FUEL HOSE AND THE FUEL PUMP. A FEW WEEKS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHO ADVISED HER THAT THE ENTIRE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 03V471000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 84,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC FOR FRONT END NOISE. IT WAS DETERMINED THE FRONT SUSPENSION FRAME WAS RUSTED AND THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE TO DEALER. TOOK CAR TO DOAN DODGE IN GREECE NY. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR. THE COST OF THE REPAIR IS $1600 AND IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. I AM TOLD THEY ARE QUIETLY REPAIRING SOME COMPLAINTS. THIS CAR WAS OVER $34,000 NEW AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM!! *TR
NOTICED A LOT OF RUST ON FRAME AT FRONT OF VEHICLE. BODY SHOP CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS BADLY RUSTED AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. CAR IS PAST THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OF 7/75,000. THIS IS WAY TOO MUCH DAMAGE FOR A CAR WITH 67,000 MILES. *TR
MY MECHANIC HAS ADVISED THAT MY CAR HAS A RUSTED SUBFRAME, PARTS OF WHICH HAVE RUSTED THROUGH. IT IS DUE FOR INSPECTION BY THE END OF THE MONTH, AND I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT IT IS RUSTED BAD ENOUGH TO FAIL INSPECTION. I NEED THIS VEHICLE, AND HAVE TAKEN GREAT CARE OF IT. I CHANGED THE TIMING BELT LAST YEAR, AND HAVE KEPT IT IN A GARAGE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE OR REPLACE THE SUBFRAME. THIS IS NOT NORMAL RUSTING. MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERS, NATURALLY, HAVE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR HAS TOO MANY MILES AND IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH ON THIS. CHRYSLER HAS BEEN REPLACING SUBFRAMES IN SOME PACIFICAS, PARTICULARLY CANADA. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL; THE METAL WAS NOT PROPERLY COATED OR SOMETHING. IT IS TIME FOR CHRYSLER TO ISSUE A RECALL AND REPLACE THESE SUBFRAMES. WHEN VEHICLES RUST, IT SHOULD NOT START IN THE SUBFRAME. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER; I NEED THIS CAR TO DRIVE TO WORK AND FOR FAMILY USE. MY KIDS AND I ARE NOT SAFE IN IT, AND IF IT CAN'T PASS INSPECTION I WILL BE WITHOUT A VEHICLE! *TR

I WAS DRIVING WITH MY MOTHER AND MY THREE KIDS IN THE CAR AND WHILE I WAS DRIVING A STRUT ROD (METAL POLE) CAME THRU MY HOOD SO I HAVE A HOLE IN THE HOOD OF MY CAR WITH A METAL POLE STICKING OUT.. NEVER SEEN NOTHING LIKE IT..THE AUTO MECHANIC SAID IT IS DANGEROUS WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED.. DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE MY BACK BRAKE CYLINDER IS LEAKING FLUID BRAKES WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR.... *TR
MY CAR REPAIR SHOP NOTICED THE SUBFRAME ON MY 2004 PACIFICA AS RUSTED THROUGH ENOUGH THAT THE SHOP'S OWNER COULD GET A FINGER THROUGH THE RUST HOLE. HE SAID THE PACIFICA WOULD BE ADEQUATE FOR THE VACATION I AM ABOUT TO TAKE, BUT ALSO SAID THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE HANDLED "WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR" OR THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM WOULD FAIL. HE ALSO ADDED I SHOULD FILE THIS COMPLAINT AS A POTENTIAL RECALL ACTION, AS IT WAS NOT ON THE CURRENT LIST. FOR THE RECORD, NORTHERN VIRGINIA (NEAR WASHINGTON DC) DOES GET SNOW AND ICE, AND DOES TREAT ITS ROADS WHEN THAT HAPPENS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE, WHICH CAUSED THE FUEL PUMP TO CRACK. THE FUEL PUMP WAS NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY AND GAS FUMES WERE RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, AND A CASE MANAGER WAS ASSIGNED. BOTH ELECTRIC SEAT ADJUSTERS JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT IS SO FAR BACK THAT IT'S NOT REALLY SAFE TO BE DRIVING, AND BOTH SEATS ARE STUCK IN AN UNCOMFORTABLE POSITION. THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT IS STUCK IN THE "EXIT THE CAR" POSITION, SO IT MUST HAVE STOPPED WORKING LAST SUNDAY WHEN I DROVE IT AND THEN PARKED IT FOR THE NIGHT. AFTER REPLACING A BOTH MOTOR MOUNTS IN JULY OF 2012. THEY BROKE AGAIN IN NOVEMBER 2012!! THIS TIME IT WAS SO BAD THAT WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER THE ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT START BACK UP. EVENTUALLY AFTER TRYING TO TURN IT OVER SO MANY TIME THE BATTERY DIED. WE HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AFTER THE HOLIDAYS TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO FIX ($1200) AND EXACTLY WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. THE TECH INFORMED ME THAT BESIDES THE MOUNTS BEING BROKE, WHEN I TURNED THE CORNER THE ENGINE LIFTED AND CUT THRU ALL OF THE WIRES LEADING TO THE FAILURE OF THE CAR'S POWER CONTROL MODULE. THIS RESULTED IN A LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER, OTHER ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS, AND THE LOSS OF THREE IGNITION COILS. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHY THEY KEEP MAKING "RUBBER" ENGINE MOUNTS IF THE[XXX] THINGS ARE USELESS IN THE FIRST PLACE? THERE HAS TO BE A REASON ALL THESE CARS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND IF I HAD KNOWN ABOUT THIS BEFORE I FINANCED THIS "POS", I WOULD NEVER HAVE PUT MY CHILDRENS LIVES IN DANGER.!! TOLD AT TIME OF SERVICE BY DEALER THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING THRU THREATENING FAILURE. THIS IS A RECOGNIZED PROBLEM IN THE 2005 VEHICLES WHICH CHRYSLER HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY OUT TO 10/YR 150,000 MILES FOR, BUT THEY ARE REFUSING TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY ON THE 2004 MODEL. TOOK CAR TO THE SHOP FOR ROUTINE SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED BY RUST AND RECOMMENDED REPLACING IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. HE STATED THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING A CAR IN THIS CONDITION. I GOOGLED " PACIFICA SUBFAME RUST" AND FIND OUT THAT THIS ISSUE IS HUGE. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS DETERIORATION IS NOT NORMAL. THE FRONT CHASSIS CROSS MEMBER HAS ROTTED OUT. MY 2004 PACIFICA HAS BEEN PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVER 5 YEARS BECAUSE THE CORROSION IS SO BAD I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. TODAY HAS STARTED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WHILE STOPPED AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS ALMOST TAKING ME INTO TRAFFIC YOUR INVESTIGATION ON THESE ARE CLOSED BUT I NEVER HAD SATISFACTION SPEAKING TO CHRYSLER OFFICIALS AND WAS INFORMED BY MY DEALER A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MADE BY THE ;OLD; COMPANY AND THE NEW COMPANY DOES NOT HONOR PROBLEMS.WHAT IS DISTURBING IS THAT A CLOSE INSPECTION BY ME HAS REVEALED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS GOING TO THE CONTROL COMPUTER WAS ROUTED UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE FLEXIBLE MOTOR MOUNT AND THE HARNESS HAS BEEN DAMAGED BY THE MOUNT COMPRESSING THIS HARNESS RIGHT ON TOP OF A BOLT ON THE FRAME CAUSING FRAYING OF SEVERAL CONTROL WIRES .THE POOR DESIGN HAS INDEED CREATED MOST OF THE PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AND COULD CAUSE WRECKS AND PERHAPS EVEN DEATHS. CHRYSLER HAS INFORMED ME THEY DO NOT ACCEPT SUGGESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC BUT FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS STILL DRIVING THESE VEHICLES,I SEE A LOT ON THE ROAD, PLEASE CONTACT THEM AS TO THIS PROBLEM WHICH WHILE NOT COVERED UNDER THEIR WARRANTY SHOULD BE AS THIS FLAW ONLY SHOWS UP WITH MILEAGE. THE MOTOR MOUNTS ON THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES. 3 AT A TIME. THERE ARE ONLY 4 OF THEM. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT IT WAS A COMMON ISSUE ON THESE CARS SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH HAS SHOWN THAT IT IS VERY COMMON. IT DOES PRESENT A SAFETY RISK.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY THE CAR STARTED SMOKING WE PULLED OVER, THE FIRE FIGHTERS WERE CALLED. THEY HAD TO BREAK THE DASHBOARD IN ORDER TO STOP THE FIRE.
