I PURCHASED MY 05 PACIFICA IN JUNE OF 05. I WAS NOT IN ANY MAJOR ACCIDENTS BUT WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER FOR THE INSPECTION I WAS TOLD THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY RED FLAGGED MY VIN#. I TOOK FOR A 2ND OPINION AND WAS TOLD THE INFORMATION THE DEALER PUT ON THE ESTIMATE WAS SOMEWHAT ACCURATE...I DID CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND HAD ALL OF THE REPAIRS, PAID MY DEDUCTIBLE BUT AM WONDERING HOW MANY OF THIS VEHICLE HAD THIS PROBLEM? ALSO SHOULDN'T THIS HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY...I WAS TOLD NO BY THE DEALER?
JUST TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE ABS SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON (AT 38000 MILES), WE HAD THE CAR SERVICED FOR FAULTY POWER SEAT CONTROL. THE SEAT STARTED TO ADJUST ON ITS OWN, THE MESSAGE STATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE MEMORY SELECTION. HOWEVER, WE HAD NOT PROGRAMMED SEATING POSITIONS. IN FACT, WE DIDN'T HAVE THE KEYPAD! THE ABS SENSOR CAME ON SUDDENLY. I WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED OF AROUND 30 MPH. I HEARD A ROLLING NOISE AND FELT THE ROLLING OR SCRUBBING UNDERFOOT. TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT I BEGAN TO HEAR THE SOUND WITHOUT ENGAGING THE BRAKES. WE'VE HAD PROBLEMS FROM THE BEGINNING. THE SERVICEMEN COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM WHEN WE PRESENTED IT LESS THAN A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE. THEN, ANOTHER AROSE. THEN, ANOTHER. UNFORTUNATELY, THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE IS FAR LESS THAN WHAT'S OWED (DEPRECIATION), AND I FEEL "CAUGHT BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE." WILL SOMEONE MAKE GOOD ON THIS?
AFTER DRIVING FOR COUPLE OF HOURS ON FREEWAYS AND BRIDGES, TURNED INTO RESIDENTIAL STREET AND HEARD LOUD CRUNCHING NOISES. CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. ON GROUND AROUND AND UNDER CAR WERE GREASY BALL BEARINGS AND PIECES OF METAL. HAD CAR TOWED TO PLACE OF PURCHASE AND FOUND OUT THE LEFT FRONT AXLE BROKE. CAR ONLY 2 YEARS OLD AND NOTHING CAUSED THIS EXCEPT FAILURE OF CAR PART. WHEN I FOUND OUT I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THE LORD HAD NOT SPARED ME AND HAD IT HAPPEN WHILE MOVING SLOWLY, NEARLY HAD HEART FAILURE. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE CHRYSLER PLACE WOULDN'T REALLY TALK TO ME ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. *JB
VERY LOUD POPPING/CLUNK SOUND FROM FRONT HALF OF VEHICLE. CAR IN REVERSE BACKING OUT OF GARAGE, WHEELS TURNED TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AND THEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, CAR MAKES A LOUD POP WHEN MAKING FIRST TURN. BROUGHT TO DEALER, REPLACED AXLES, STILL POPPING. RETURNED TO REPAIR, COULDN'T FIND PROBLEM. BROUGHT IN AGAIN AND REPLACED AXLES AGAIN SAYING THEY WERE SURE IT WAS A BAD BATCH PREVIOUSLY. STILL POPPING LOUD. CAR HAS TO BE COLD, CAN'T DUPLICATE FOR DEALER. I FEAR SOMETHING IS BREAKING AND WILL CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN TWO CRASHES. IN THE FIRST CRASH, THE CONTACT STRUCK A DEER AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, BUT THE MORE IT WAS REPAIRED, THE MORE FAILURES WERE FOUND. IN THE SECOND CRASH, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY ACCELERATED UPHILL AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND SPUN OUT. THE VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER REPEATEDLY AND LANDED UPSIDE DOWN, NEARLY KILLING THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AFTER THE CRASHES, SHE RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR THE FUEL PUMP MODULE OR PROGRAM PCM. THE SPEED, RECALL NUMBER, AND MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. AFTER REFUELING THE FUEL TANK THE FUEL PUMP FAILED EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS AND CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR KEPT ILLUMINATING, AND THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 176,000. UPDATED 05/10/17*LJ *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH AT SUNSET, THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HEADLIGHTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK AND THEN FAILED A WEEK LATER. THE FOLLOWING WEEK, THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM RECALL NUMBER 05V066000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS). THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,300.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH IN WET CONDITIONS, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW FAILED. THE WINDOW DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RAISE THE WINDOW. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY REPAIRED THE WINDOW. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 38,300.
THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS BURNING OIL AT 1 QUART PER 1000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP TOOK THE ENGINE APART AND REPLACED THE VALVE SEALS. THIS HELPED AND SLOWED THE OIL CONSUMPTION,, BUT DID NOT FIX IT. NOW THE CAR WAS STILL BURNING 1 QUART 1000 MILES, WHICH CHRYSLER CLAIMED WAS PERFECTLY NORMAL , ACCORDING TO THEIR POLICY. THE MANAGER AT THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM THAT PACIFICA'S HAD AND SEEMSED TO BE UNIQUE TO THIS CAR ,AND A FEW OTHERS. CHRYSLERWAS STILL REFUSING TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IF ALLOWED THE OIL TO BURN AT 1QUART. PER 1000 MILES, THEN AT 3000 MILES OIL CHANGE THE VEHICLE WILL BE 3 QUARTS LOW, LEAVING ONLY 2.5 QUARTS. OF OIL INTHE CAR. THIS WAS 2 QUARTS. BELOW THE MINIMUM LEVEL FOR SAFE DRIVING ACCORDING TO THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA OWNER'S MANUAL. *AK
HEADLAMP FAILURE, CAUSING REPLACEMENT SEVERAL TIMES SINCE PURCHASE IN 7/05. SLUGGISH DRIVING/ACCELERATION, ACCELERATOR STICKING. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. WHEN IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE GOES FORWARD. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND THE HANDLING FAILS. THE DEALER STATED THAT A MINIMUM 4-HOUR DIAGNOSTIC IS NEEDED TO IDENTIFY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,500.
(1) NONE (2) STALLING, CONSTANT, TOTAL LOSS OF POWER, HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS/CONDITIONS. (3) INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP AND DEALER COULD NOT FIX, AS IT DOES NOT SEND AND ERROR CODE.
LOSS OF OIL AND CANNOT REPAIR. MOTOR WAS REBUILT AND CONTINUES TO LOSE OIL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP SINCE MAY 20,2007. MY VEHICLE IS STILL THERE AND NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. *JB
THE ENGINE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD LIT UP ONE DAY. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, I EXPERIENCED A VERY ROUGH IDLE. IT DID NOT STALL HOWEVER, BUT CONTINUED TO IDLE AND RUN VERY ROUGHLY. UPON EXAMINATION, THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT DETERMINED THAT THE TSB #09-010-06 HAD DESCRIBED THE ISSUE AND IT'S RECOMMENDED FIX WAS APPLIED. THAT BEING TO REPLACE THE VALVE SPRING RETAINER LOCKS, COMBUSTION CLEAN, AND REPLACE AND TEST THE MAP SENSOR. THIS TSB FIX HAD THE ADVERSE EFFECT OF CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SURGE RATHER ABRUPTLY WHEN STARTING COLD, AND APPLYING LIGHT PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT'S MORE NOTICEABLE WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND HAVING THE WHEEL TURNED AT THE SAME TIME. IT SEEMS THAT HAVING THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED PRESENTS AN ADDITIONAL LOAD ON THE ENGINE THAT THE COMPUTER SENSES AS A NEED FOR ADDITIONAL ENGINE SPEED. THIS SURGING ALSO HAPPENS WHEN PULLING FORWARD INTO A PARKING SPACE WITH THE WHEELS SHARPLY TURNED AS WELL. THREE SUBSEQUENT VISITS TO THE DEALER YIELDED DIFFERENT ANSWERS WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO FIX IT. ON ONE VISIT, THE SERVICE DIRECTOR, CALLED TO TELL ME THAT HE HAD BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CHRYSLER ENGINEERS IN MICHIGAN ABOUT THE ISSUE AND WOULD LIKE TO TRY A COUPLE OF THINGS. NAMELY TO CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE, ADAPTIVE MEMORY, AND MAP SENSOR. AFTER A TEST DRIVE HE CONCEDED THAT THE PROBLEM REMAINED, BUT NOT TO THE DEGREE THAT I WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT. HE OFFERED NO OTHER ALTERNATIVE FIXES, BUT SAID THAT HE WOULD REMAIN IN CONTACT WITH THE CHRYSLER ENGINEERING WEBSITE THAT ISSUES TSB'S ETC. I GUESS THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SATISFY ME AS HE STATES THAT HE HAS DONE EVERYTHING HE COULD. AS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE TO ME, I FELT PROMPTED TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON THE WEBSITE AS I FEEL THAT THE SURGING PROBLEM IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. MY NEXT STEP IS THE WRITE CHRYSLER DIRECTLY PER THEIR WARRANTY INFORMATION BOOKLET. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. THE CHECK LIGHT HAS COME ON THE VEHICLE INDICATING CYLINDER THREE MISFIRED. I HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO THE SHOP THE FIRST TIME AND HAD THE COIL REPLACED. THE SAME LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE SAME WARNING. THIS TIME THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REPLACED, THE INJECTIONS CLEANED OUT, THE THROTTLE BODY CLEANED OUT. I JUST GOT IT BACK YESTERDAY AND I FEEL CONFIDENT THAT I WILL HAVE THE SAME THING OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, THE VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH AND THE CAR HAS NO POWER. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED HIGHER THAN THE STANDARDS CALL FOR IN THE MANUAL. LOOKS LIKE CHRYSLER IS GOOD FOR ABOUT 40,000 MILES, THEN BE PREPARED TO SPEND SOME MONEY. I PLAN TO TRADE THE VEHICLE FOR A TOYOTA, THOUGH I HAD SUPPORTED AMERICAN MADE VEHICLES IN THE PAST, WITH A PRODUCT LIKE THIS, YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO. THE TOTAL COST THUS FAR HAS BEEN $600.00. IT APPEARS THAT CHRSYLER KNOWS THE PROBLEM EXISTS BECAUSE OF THE BULLETINS, YET THEY WILL NOT RECALL THE CAR ,AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE CONSUMERS. PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY FOR A VEHICLE AND REPAIR IT AT THE SAME TIME WITH SO FEW MILES. THE PACIFICA IS A GREAT RIDING CAR ,AND I OTHERWISE THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT. *AK

EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, THE AIR BAG SENSOR FAILS TO ACTIVATE WHEN AN OCCUPANT IS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, REGARDLESS OF THEIR WEIGHT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE ARE TWO SENSORS IN THE SEAT THAT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED BECAUSE THAT IS HOW THEY WERE DESIGNED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000. UPDATED 5/19/08 *CN THE CONSUMER ALSO COPLAINED ABOUT WIND NOISE. UPDATED
WE OWN A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING EDITION. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT IT (AND THE WARRANTY ENDED), WE NOTICED THAT THE ABS LIGHT WOULD COME ON. SOMETIMES IT WOULD STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY, SOMETIMES IT WOULD COME OFF AND ON. WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON, AND YOU PRESS ON THE BRAKE, THE PEDAL BEGINS TO SHAKE A LITTLE, AND IT'S VERY HARD TO PUSH AND YOU HEAR A GRINDING NOISE. THE CAR DOES NOT STOP QUICKLY AT ALL, IT JUST SLOWS DOWN A TINY BIT. I'VE HAD MORE THAN 2 INSTANCES WHERE I PRESSED THE BRAKE RATHER FIRMLY AND IT DIDN'T SLOW DOWN ENOUGH AND I DIDN'T STOP UNTIL I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION. I HAD BOTH OF MY CHILDREN WITH ME AT THE TIME AS WELL!! WE TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER WHERE THEY TOLD US IT WOULD COST US ROUGHLY $80 AN HOUR FOR THEM TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG. WE JUST DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY RIGHT NOW. THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, BUT THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE ON THIS PROBLEM, IT IS A VERY LARGE PROBLEM WITH THE PACIFICAS. I'VE SEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. PLEASE PUT A RECALL ON IT, SO THAT THOSE OF US WHO CAN'T AFFORD $80 AN HOUR CAN MAKE SURE OUR CHILDREN ARE SAFE ON THE ROADS. I'M AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL FOR FEAR THAT THE BRAKES WILL COMPLETELY GO OUT. THANK YOU SO MUCH! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ACCELERATING TO 5 MPH FROM THE IDLE POSITION, THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT IT BEGAN TO HESITATE. THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME SLOWLY AND BROUGHT TO A DEALER THE FOLLOWING WEEK. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD MULTIPLE FAILURES, BUT NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL WAITING TO BE REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,525 ,AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,435. *AK
TL*- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, AND STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT THE VEHICLE SEIZED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL, AND RUNNING THE VEHICLE INTO A SMALL DITCH. THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT UNTIL THE INSURANCE COMPANY INVESTIGATED THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 18,000. *AK
I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE THE AIR JAM DROPPED OFF OF THE VEHICLE AND I RAN OVER IT. AT THIS TIME I WAS GOING THE POSTED SPEED AND THERE WAS NO WEATHER CONDITIONS (HEAVY SNOW OR RAIN) WHICH COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE THE AIR JAM TO DROP. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO HARM DONE TO EITHER MYSELF, MY PASSENGERS OR THE OTHER VEHICLES NEARBY. A COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPUTY HAD FOUND THE PART ON THE HIGHWAY AND REMOVED IT IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE IT WAS TECHNICALLY IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE, THEN THE PART WAS DISPOSED. MY CONCERN IS OF THE AIR JAM/GUARD COMING OFF WITHOUT THE VEHICLE HAVING BEEN HIT OR AFFECTED BY ANY OTHER TRAUMA. THE DEALER/MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT COVER THIS UNDER THE VEHICLE WARANTY BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO PRODUCE THE PART WHICH WAS DISPOSED OF, WHICH - THEY CLAIM - MADE IT DIFFICULT TO DETERMINE IF IT WAS A DEFECT, OR NOT. THE DEALER ALSO MADE NO ATTEMPT TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT, ASSUMING I WAS AT FAULT. I EVENTUALLY BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO A BODY SHOP WHERE THEY REPLACED A GREAT DEAL OF THE OF PARTS TO THE VEHICLE. THESE ARE AS FOLLOWS; ONE FRONT BUMPER COVER, ONE RET. BUMPER COVER, ONE LICENSE BRACKET, ONE FOG LAMP HARNESS, TWO FOG LAMPS, TWO FOG LAMP CLIPS, TWO INNER FENDERS. ALTHOUGH ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS WERE EVENTUALLY LOCATED, SOME PARTS WERE OBSOLETE WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENTS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE PLACED FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE GAUGE SHOWED THAT THE TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY TAKE A FEW GALLONS AND NOTHING MORE. SHE WOULD ATTEMPT TO FORCE MORE GAS INTO THE TANK, BUT IT WOULD SPILL OUT. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF ON THE CONTACT DUE TO THE LACK OF GAS NOT INDICATED BY THE FUEL GAUGE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LEVEL SENSORS THE FIRST TIME. THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE MODULAR FUEL PUMP AND THE PRIMARY PUMP. ON APRIL 20, 2007, THE DEALER REPAIRED THE HOSES ON THE FUEL LINE. ON MARCH 11, 2008, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE TANK, BUT IT ONLY TOOK SIX GALLONS. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE FUEL INDICATOR WENT TO EMPTY AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED BOTH FUEL PUMPS. THE DEALER INFORMED HER THAT SHE HAD NOT RUN OUT OF GAS. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,904 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,233.
BATTERY WOULD DIE AFTER HAVING DOOR OPEN FOR SHORT PERIOD OF TIME FOR LOADING/UNLOADING ITEMS. I HAD TO GET JUMP-STARTED 4 TIMES IN A 1-WEEK PERIOD. WHEN TAKEN TO "AUTOZONE" TO PURCHASE NEW BATTERY, THEY TOLD ME BATTERY WAS STILL GOOD THAT IT JUST NEEDED TO BE CHARGED. BUT WHEN IT CONTINUED DOING IT, I GOT ALTERNATOR CHECKED AND THEY STATED IT WAS BAD. NOW I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SERVICE DEPT. CAN SEE ME FOR SERVICE. *JB

WHENEVER SHE ATTEMPTS TO ADD FUEL TO THE VEHICLE, IT WILL NOT TAKE MORE THAN FIVE GALLONS, AND THE DIAL NEVER INDICATES THAT IT IS MORE THEN 3/4 FULL. ALSO, THE DIAL WILL MOVE FROM HALF A TANK DOWN TO EMPTY WITHIN 60 MILES. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER MORE THAN SIX TIMES AND THEY REPLACED THE LEVEL KIT SENSOR, WHICH DID NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. WITHIN WEEKS, THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP MODULE, WHICH ALSO DID NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE. A MONTH LATER THEY REPAIRED THE FULL TANK HOSES, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. A YEAR LATER, THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS REPLACED ONCE AGAIN. AFTER ALL OF THESE REPAIRS, THE FAILURE HAS NOT YET BEEN PROPERLY CORRECTED. THE FAILURE IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
WE HAVE VISITED THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND DIFFERENT AUTO SHOPS SUCH AS PEP BOYS SEVERAL TIMES. THEY HAVE CHECKED THE TIRES FOR LEAKS. EACH PLACE WE VISITED WOULD TELL US THAT THE TIRES WERE FINE, THEY WOULD THEN FILL THEM UP AND WE WOULD GO ANOTHER DAY OR TWO AND THEN WOULD HAVE TO FILL THE TIRES UP AGAIN. FINALLY A TIRE STORE MANAGER AT WAL-MART FOUND THE PROBLEM: THE TIRES: MICHELIN PILOT HXMXM4 P235-55R19 ARE TOO SMALL FOR THE 19'' RIMS THAT THEY ARE MOUNTED ON. HE SHOWED US THAT THEY DO NOT COMPLETELY FILL THE RIM, AND THIS CAUSES THE TIRES TO LOOSE PRESSURE IF THE ROAD IS UNEVEN OR IF THERE ARE BUMPS IN THE ROAD. HE SHOWED US THE DIFFERENCE WITH TIRES ON OTHER CARS. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE SAME MODEL TIRES FROM FIRESTONE DO FILL UP THE RIM COMPLETELY AND SO NO AIR LEAKS WHEN YOU ENCOUNTER BUMPS IN THE ROAD OR UNEVEN ROADS. HE EXPLAINS THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR UNLESS THE TIRES ARE CHANGED. FURTHERMORE HE EXPLAINED THAT THIS POSES A SERIOUS THREAT TO OUR SAFETY AS WE TRAVEL. I NEED THIS ISSUE TO BE RESOLVED TO MY SATISFACTION. THESE ARE SOME OF THE MOST EXPENSIVE TIRES ON THE MARKET AND THE CAR HAS 28,000 MILES ON IT. I EXPECT THE TIRES THAT COME WITH THE CAR TO LAST THE DURATION OF THEIR LIFE WITHOUT PROVIDING THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS. I TRUST MY WIFE AND CHILDREN TO THE SAFETY OF THIS CAR AND AM DISTRAUGHT BY KNOWING THAT THE TIRES POSE THIS TYPE OF SAFETY THREAT. THESE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT REGARDING MY 2005 PACIFICA AWD. IN NOV 06, THE VEHICLE STALLED COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND BOTH TIMES, WE WERE VERY FORTUNATE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. UNFORTUNATELY, WHILE I WAS DRIVING TODAY, IT STALLED AGAIN AND NEARLY AVERTED AN ACCIDENT. IT'S REALLY SCARY TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY MORE. I PURCHASED A 2005 PACIFICA TOURING WITH AWD IN THE SUMMER OF 2006. THREE TIMES MY CAR HAS HAD DIFFICULTIES WHEN THERE WAS A DUSTING OF SNOW BLOWING OVER THE ROAD. AFTER THE CAR IS READING EMPTY AND I PROCEED TO PUT GASOLINE IN THE TANK IT WILL ONLY ALLOW 13 GALLONS TO BE PUMPED, THE OWNERS MANUAL CLAIMS THAT THE VEHICLE HAS A 23 GALLON TANK. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO PUT MORE THAN 13 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TANK. ALSO, EVERY NOW AND THEN WHEN I TRY TO PUT FUEL IN THE TANK, THE HOSE WILL CONTINUALLY SHUT OFF AS IF THE VEHICLE IS FULL. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL, #06V432000 ON THE VEHICLE REGARDING THE POWERTRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM). THE SERVICE DEALER WAS CONTACTED ON 11/28/06, AND EXPRESSED TO THE CONTACT THAT THE EARLIEST DATE THE RECALL WORK COULD BE PERFORMED WAS 12/08/06. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN THAT THE VEHICLE COULD STALL PRIOR TO THE RECALL WORK, AND POSE A RISK TO SAFETY. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER AFTER FILING A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA.
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHEN MAKING A SHARP TURN. IT SHUT OFF TODAY 11/26/06 WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING USE TO BE INVOLVED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN CAR. THE FIRST FEW TIMES IT HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING AND I THOUGHT MAYBE MY LEG HIT THE KEY AS IT IS POSITIONED POORLY FOR TALL DRIVERS BUT ,THE IGNITION WOULD STILL BE IN THE ON POSITION SO. TONIGHT AGAIN IT HAPPENED AND MY WIFE IS 5'1 AND COMES NO WHERE'S NEAR THE KEY. IT TURNS OFF ON ITS OWN. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. *NM
ABS YELLOW CAUTION LIGHT CAME ON IN MARCH 2006. BRAKES WERE GRINDING AND CAR DIFFICULT TO STOP. RETURNED CAR TO DEALERSHIP. LEFT WHEEL SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOVEMBER 26, 2006 ABS LIGHT ON AGAIN. BRAKES AGAIN GRINDING AND CAR BECAME DIFFICULT TO STOP. CAR ONLY HAS 29,000 MILES. *NM

MULTIPLE TIMES MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS STALLED FOR NO REASON. I CAN BE DRIVING AND THE CAR JUST STALLS. I HAVE TO PUT CAR BACK INTO PARK AND TURN KEY OFF, THEN I CAN RESTART THE ENGINE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER TWICE, AND STILL THERE SEEMS TO BE "NOTHING" WRONG WITH THE CAR. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED A NHTSA RECALL LETTER #06V432000 REGARDING THE POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM) WAS RECEIVED 10 DAYS AGO. THE SERVICE DEALER WAS GIVEN THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR. THE SERVICE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE THE SERVICE, CLAIMING THE COMPUTER HAD BEEN DOWN FOR OVER A WEEK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT POPPING AND CLICKING SOUND WHEN ACCELERATING AND STOPPING. ALSO HAPPENS WHEN MOVING THE GEAR SHIFT. CAR SURGES FORWARD WHEN POPPING SOUND HAPPENS. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID I HAD TO LIVE WITH IT AS IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE CAR THEY CAN NOT FIX. SO NEED TO NOW WHAT TO DO. ALSO ENGINE STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS AT A CRAWL IN TRAFFIC, BUT AT AN INCLINE ONTO A BRIDGE. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THEN PUT IT ON THE GAS PETAL TO ACCELERATE AND THE CAR DIED. LIGHTS AND DASH BOARD ARE LIT BUT CAR IS SHUT OFF. CAR RESTARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. SECOND TIME, I WAS PARKING IN A SPOT THAT WAS AGAIN AT AN INCLINE. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND STEPPED ON THE GAS PETAL TO BEGIN DRIVING IN REVERSE, CAR DIED. BOTH TIMES I HAD APPROXIMATELY 3/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. ALSO THE SHOP DON'T WANT TO GIVE YOU A RENTAL OR LONER CAR WHILE THE REPAIRS ARE DONE. *JB
11/18/06 - CAR STALLED IN PARKING LOT IN OCEAN CITY, MD. WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT 8 HRS. LATER. 11/19/06 - CAR STALLED ON CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE (US 50) NEAR END HEADING WESTWARD. WAS ABLE TO COAST ONTO SHOULDER. CAR TOWED TO DEALER TATE CHRYSLER JEEP, INC., GLEN BURNIE, MD. 11/22/06 - RECEIVED IN MAIL DAIMLER CHRYSLER'S SAFETY RECALL F44 --FUEL PUMP AND OR REPROGRAM PCM STATING THAT A PROBLEM COULD CAUSE ENGINE TO STALL AND CAUSE A CRASH WITHOUT WARNING. I TOOK THE RECALL NOTICE TO THE DEALER. SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT WAS NOT THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. HE SAID HALF OF THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. FINAL COST --$4976 PARTS AND LABOR. WORK WAS COMPLETED ON 01/05/07. ON 01/11/07, AFTER ABOUT 300 MILES OF DRIVING, ENGINE STALLED ON BALTIMORE-WASHINGTON PARKWAY (MD295). I WAS AGAIN ABLE TO COAST OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER. CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO TATE CHRYSLER, WHERE IT IS NOW LOCATED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE SLIGHTLY TURNING ON TO THE RAMP TO ENTER TO THE HIGHWAY AT 5 MPH DURING NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO BRAKE POWER NOR POWER STEERING. PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE IDENTIFIED NO WARNING SIGNALS. IT WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY DETERMINED THAT THE CONTACT WAS USING GASOLINE THAT CONTAINED MORE THAN 10% ETHANOL. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE ANY OTHER CAUSES FOR THE PROBLEM.
