PURCHASED AN 2005 PACIFICA JUNE 10TH. WAS BACK IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. SERVICE SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED PROBLEM BUT AFTER 1 WEEK NOTICED VEHICLE MISFIRING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BACK ON. TOOK IT BACK SERVICE REPLACED A PART (NOT SURE WHAT) AND RESET LIGHT. AS OF TODAY THIS MAKES MY 4TH TRIP TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH SAME PROBLEM. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE MECHANIC SAID TODAY IT FAILED THE EMISSIONS TEST AND HE CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY. I LEFT IT THERE AND TOOK A RENTAL, BUT NOW IT KIND OF FEELS LIKE I HAVE BOUGHT A PROBLEM. (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT). *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH THE FRONT BUMPER CAME LOOSE IN THE MIDDLE AND SCRAPED THE GROUND AND FRONT TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WITHOUT INCIDENT AND THE BUMPER WAS PUT BACK ONTO THE BRACKETS THAT HOLD IT IN PLACE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACT AND STATED DRIVE IT IN FOR INSPECTION. UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER STATED IT WAS NOT UNDER WARNING AND WOULD NOT REPAIR. WHILE DRIVING FROM THE DEALER THE BUMPER CAME LOOSE AGAIN, CAUSING THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN AND NOW WAITING FOR THE PARTS.
SHARP TURN TO THE LEFT THE MOTOR SHUTS OFF. *JB
CAR STALLS AT LOW SPEED TURNS TO THE LEFT. ON THE BRAKE, OFF THE GAS PEDAL. DOES NOT SPUTTER JUST SHUTS OF IN TURN WITH NO WARNING. IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES UNABLE TO REPAIR IT. HAPPENED OVER 20 TIMES SINCE CAR WAS NEW. CLOSE CALLS OF HITTING OBJECTS. *NM
DURING THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE, 2006 I NOTICED A FEW THINGS THAT SEEMED TO ALL BEGIN AT THE SAME TIME. MY PACIFICA WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY WHEN I FIRST ATTEMPTED TO START IT AFTER IT HAD BEEN SITTING OVER NIGHT, IT WOULD HESITATE WHEN I TOOK OFF FROM A STOP IF I HAD BEEN ON A DOWNHILL INCLINE AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD DROP TO EMPTY AS SOON AS THE TANK WAS DOWN TO FIVE-EIGHTHS FULL. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AS SOON AS I FILLED THE TANK, BUT THE NEXT WEEK IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHEN THE TANK GOT DOWN TO FIVE-EIGHTHS. I CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND THE EARLIEST THEY COULD TAKE IT WAS JUNE 21ST. THE PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE BY THE TIME THE 21ST CAME AROUND. EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP THE ENGINE WOULD STALL. IT WOULD START BACK UP IF THE CAR WAS PUT IN DRIVE, BUT IF IT WAS ON A DOWNHILL INCLINE IT WOULD NOT RESTART. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER ON JUNE 21ST AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A FUEL PUMP. THEY CALLED ME LATER THAT DAY AND SAID THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED, BUT THEY SHOULD HAVE IT IN A DAY OR TWO. WELL, TODAY IS JULY 19TH AND MY CAR IS STILL AT THE DEALER WAITING FOR A PART. EVIDENTLY THE PACIFICAS HAVE A PRIMARY FUEL PUMP AND A JET PUMP. SO MANY OF THE CARS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM (THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS LISTED ON EDMUNDS.COM FORUM) THAT EVIDENTLY THEY CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND FOR THESE PUMPS. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER ON JULY 11TH. I DON'T KNOW IF IT HAS DONE ANY GOOD, BUT THEY DO CALL THE DEALER EACH TIME I CALL THEM WHILE THEY HAVE ME ON THE PHONE. I AM TRYING TO BE PATIENT BECAUSE I LOVE THIS CAR, BUT THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. IT IS ALSO HAVING A NEW POWER SEAT MEMORY MODULE INSTALLED BECAUSE BOTH POWER SEATS STOPPED WORKING AND IT HAD A NEW TRANSFER CASE INSTALLED BECAUSE OF A CLICKING/CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT END DURING TURNS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED SIX TIMES WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND AT 3-5 MPH. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED WHEN THE SHIFTER WAS PLACED IN NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND EACH TIME THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT CHRYSLER WAS AWARE OF THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM. THERE IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION, NHTSA ITEM NUMBER: RQ06002 CONCERNING THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM.
I HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKING. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALER WITH NO RESULTS. I HAVE E-MAILED CHRYSLER AND THEY TELL ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. WITH THE RECENT TOYOTA ACCELERATOR PEDAL PROBLEMS, I AM CONCERNED THAT OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I SEE ONE OTHER IN YOUR RECORDS. *TR
AT ABOUT 6:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 31, 2006, OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY. IT HAD BEEN DRIVEN TO AND FROM MY WORK PLACE (ABOUT 44 MILES ROUND TRIP) THAT DAY, WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. WEATHER WAS ABOUT 72 DEGREES WITH SUN AND LOW HUMIDITY. THE CAR'S TWO FRONT WINDOWS AND THE SUNROOF WERE OPEN TO LET IN AIR. WHILE WE WERE IN THE HOUSE, WE HEARD A NOISE. UPON INVESTIGATION, WE FOUND THAT THE GLASS PORTION OF THE PACIFICA'S REAR LIFTGATE HAD A HOLE ABOUT THE SIZE OF A SOCCER BALL IN IT AND THAT THE SURROUNDING GLASS HAD SHATTERED, BUT HAD NOT YET FALLEN OFF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS NO GOLF BALL, BASEBALL BAT, ETC ON OR IN THE VEHICLE WHICH WOULD HAVE INDICATED HOW THE GLASS HAD BROKEN. THE DEALER WILL BE CONTACTED AS TO REPAIR OF THE LIFTGATE WINDOW. PICTURES WERE TAKEN OF THE DAMAGE. *JB
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. REAR HATCH WOULD NOT UNLOCK WITH REMOTE. IT WAS AT THAT TIME I REALIZED THE REMOTE IS THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH THERE IS NO MANUAL HANDLE INSIDE AND NO KEY OUTSIDE. I ALSO HAVE A 2005 DODGE NEON THAT COST ABOUT A THIRD OF THE PACIFICA THAT HAS A ELECTRIC TRUNK THAT YOU CAN OPEN WITH A REMOTE, A KEY AND THERE IS A RELEASE HANDLE. *NM
FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS MY CAR HAS NOT WANTED TO START ON THE FIRST TRY. ALWAYS HAVE TO TURN THE KEY A SECOND TIME. THIS HAPPENS FIRST THING IN THE MORNING SINCE THE CAR HAS SAT ALL NIGHT. ALSO, MY FUEL GAUGE IS NOT READING APPROPRIATELY TO THE LEVEL OF GAS IN THE TANK. AT APPROXIMATELY A 1/4 OF A TANK THE GAUGE INSTANTLY GOES TO EMPTY. I PUT IN 2 GALLONS OF GAS AND MIRACULOUSLY THE GAS GAUGE READS 1/2 TANK. NOW THOSE WHO OWN A PACIFIES KNOW THAT TWO GALLONS DOES NOT FILL YOUR TANK HALF WAY. THIS MORNING MY FUEL GAUGE READ 3/4 TANK AND MY OD READ APPROX. 111 MILES FOR THE TRIP THUS FAR. I WANTED TO FILL IT UP BUT THE CAR WOULD ONLY TAKE IN 2 GALLONS. TURNED ON THE CAR THE FUEL GAUGE DID NOT MOVE FROM 3/4 TANK. DROVE 25 MILES AND SOMEHOW MY GAUGE READ ALMOST FULL. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT AT TIME WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL MY CAR DOES NOT SEEM TO SPEED UP. IT IS ALMOST AS IF I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS AND HAVE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED AND THEY TELL ME THAT THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM THE CAR STARTS FINE FOR THEM, EVEN IF LEFT OVERNIGHT. ALSO, THEY CLAIM TO HAVE SYPHONED GAS OUT OF MY TANK AND THE GAUGE READS APPROPRIATELY TO THE AMOUNT OF GAS THAT WAS IN THE TANK. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO MY CAR DID STALL AS I WAS TAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT A LOW SPEED. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY IT NORMAL FOR A CAR TO OCCASIONALLY DO THAT. THESE ARE VERY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS INCIDENT AS I HAVE MY TODDLER WITH ME IN THE CAR MOST OF THE TIME. *JB
DATING BACK TO THE SPRING OF 2006, I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE "ABS" LIGHT SYMBOL CONSTANTLY COMING ON IN MY CAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND TOLD THEM THAT WHEN I'M TRAVELING FOR 10-15 MINUTES OR LONGER IT COMES ON. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG AND THEY EVEN TEST DROVE MY VEHICLE. I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS GOING TO FAIL ON ME ALL TOGETHER. *JB
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED IN FEB 2006 AND IT HAD APPROXIMATELY 17500 MILES ON IT. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I WENT ON A TRIP WITH THE FAMILY TO FLORIDA AND THIS IS WHEN IT FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE FIRST TIME THAT IT HAPPENED I DIDN'T REALLY THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND THE CAR HAD CUT OFF. THE CAR ROLLED TO A STOP AND THEN I NOTICED THAT THE CAR HAD CUT OFF AND I RESTARTED AND DIDN'T THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT IT. SINCE THEN THE CAR HAS CUT OFF THREE TIMES WITH MY WIFE DRIVING THE CAR. THIS HAS OCCURRED OVER THE LAST THREE MONTHS AND THE LAST INCIDENT WAS ON MAY 23, 2006 AND I WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WHEN IT HAPPENED WITH HER. THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS SCARY BECAUSE IT WAS WHEN WE WERE MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS COMING. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE HAD ROOM TO GO AROUND BUT UNDER OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT BECAUSE THE LAST THING THAT I WANT IS FOR MY PREGNANT WIFE AND KIDS TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THE CAR STALLED WHILE TURNING. AFTER READING COMPLAINTS FROM THIS WEBSITE, I READ THAT IN A LOT OF INSTANCES IN THE OTHER CASES THAT THE DEALERSHIPS COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE SO I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS ON MAY 24, 2006. I SPOKE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE POLLY AND SHE SAID HER CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER WAS HQD. SHE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND SAID THAT CHRYSLER DID NOT HAVE ANY RECORD OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PROBLEM AND REFERRED ME TO THE DEALERSHIP. SHE ALSO STATED THAT SHE COULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY PHONE NUMBERS TO SENIOR MANAGEMENT OF CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE THAT WAS PROPRIETARY. *JB
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH ALL WINDOWS AND SUNROOF CLOSED, SUDDENLY THE SUNROOF BURST INTO A MILLION PIECES RAINING DOWN ON ME AND MY FAMILY. NO IMPACT CAUSED THE WINDOW TO BREAK, IT APPEARED TO BURST FROM THE INSIDE OUT. *NM
VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT WARNING WHEN FUEL LEVEL GAUGE IS NEAR HALF TANK. THE FUEL LEVEL WILL GO DOWN TO HALF AND SOON AFTER IT WILL DROP UNEXPECTEDLY TO E AND WILL STALL OUT BEFORE YOU KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING. CAR WILL RESTART AND MAKE IT TO A GAS STATION. UPON FILLING THE TANK IT WILL ONLY TAKE 9-11 GALLONS OF GAS. THIS CAR HAS A 23 GALLON TANK. THE TANK ALSO HAS PROBLEMS FILLING. IT TAKES 5-10 MIN OF FRUSTRATION TO GET 10 GAL IN IT. ROLLOVER BALL MAYBE? *JB
I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND ON 4 DIFFERENT DATES IT HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. IT OCCURS WHEN I HAVE WENT THROUGH A ROUND-ABOUT TWICE AND ONCE WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO STOP AT A STOP SIGN, THE 4TH TIME IS WHILE SITTING IN TRAFFIC AT A LIGHT. *JB
VEHICLE STALLED WHILE TURNING INTO PARKING SPOT AT LOW SPEED. POWER STEERING WAS LOST AT THAT TIME MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER VEHICLE. WHEN VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO PARK, I WAS ABLE RESTART THE VEHICLE AND SAFELY PARK. *NM
TYPICAL DRIVING PATTERN/HABITS, YET WHEN RUNNING THE 2005 PACIFICA AWD MODEL TOURING EDITION ON THE FREEWAY, WITHIN 2 MILES AT 65 MPH, THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION WOULD "SHUDDER", THEN THE ENGINE WOULD PARTIALLY INCREASE RPM'S BY 200+ AND DECREASE BY 200+ RPM, THEN ACT AS IF THE FUEL WAS CUT OFF. I SELECTED THE 3 AND 4 GEARS WITH THE SHIFTER TO SEE IF IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, BUT NO DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THOSE TWO GEARS AS TO THE AMPLIFICATION OF THE PROBLEM. THE "SHUDDERING" WAS THE SAME INTENSITY. I HAD TO PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING. AFTER PULLING OFF OF THE FREEWAY AND DRIVING BACK TO MY HOME, THE ENGINE STALLED/STOPPED AT AN INTERSECTION DOING THE SAME 200+/ 200- RPM BUSINESS. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM, WHERE THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE SITUATION. IN DISCUSSIONS WITH CHRYSLER(AFTER 1.5 WEEKS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE!!!!), THE SERVICE MANAGER DETERMINED WITH CHRYSLER THAT AN INJECTOR REPLACEMENT AND AN INJECTOR CLEANING WAS DUE FOR THIS ENGINE. THE WAGON HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT. I BELIEVE INJECTORS LAST WELL UP INTO THE 100,000 MILE OR 1700 HOURS OF ENGINE TIME, NOT 266 HOURS. AT THIS TIME THE UNIT IS STILL IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF TWO WEEKS TIME. *JB
WE HAD BEEN TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 55 MPH ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY. MY HUSBAND SLOWED THE CAR TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. THE CAR WAS GOING 20 MILES PER HOUR WHEN IT STALLED COMPLETELY. WE LOST POWER STEERING, BRAKES AND ALL ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY MY HUSBAND REACTED QUICKLY AND FORCEFULLY ENOUGH TO AVOID HITTING AN ONCOMING CAR. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS UNABLE TO BE REPRODUCED. RETURNED HOME THE THE CAR AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I EVEN OFFERED TO TAKE THE SERVICE MANAGER WITH ME TO THE LOCATION WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. HE REFUSED. NOTHING MORE WAS ADDRESSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. *NM
VEHICLE HAS SHUT OFF MANY TIMES WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, SOMETIMES WHEN GOING STRAIGHT AND NOW THIS WEEK INDICATOR SAYS IT IS OUT OF GAS WITH FEW MILES TIL EMPTY DISPLAYED ON DASH- WILL TANK UP AND ONLY TAKES 10 GALLONS TO TOP OFF- IT WAS NOT EMPTY THEN IT WILL START AGAIN. *NM
MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING HAS INTERMITTENT STALLING PROBLEMS. MY CAR STALLS FOR NO APPARENT REASON WHILE THE CAR IS IN OPERATION. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE NO BREAKS. THE CAR STARTS UP RIGHT AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW. *NM
I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE SINCE JUNE, 2005. AS I AM DRIVING, SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING ,THIS VEHICLE HAS STALLED IN THE LANE OF DRIVING. THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES IN THESE 11 MONTHS. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND A COMPUTER CODE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *JB

MY WIFE WAS BACKING UP OUR CAR AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. BACKUP WARNING DEVICE EITHER DIDN'T WORK OR WAS NOT LOUD ENOUGH TO BE HEARD. THERE WAS ONLY A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS DAMAGE BUT THE WARNING SYSTEM DIDN'T WARN.
WHEN MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN, MY VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING, AND POWER BRAKES FAILED. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY CHRYSLER DEALER TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. EACH TIME, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME MY VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER, THEY REPROGRAMMED THE ENGINE CONTROLLER. HOWEVER, THIS HAS NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I SENT A CERTIFIED LETTER TO CHRYSLER AND THE NHTSA ON 11/12/05. IT WAS RECEIVED BY CHRYSLER ON 11/15/05. CHRYLSER DID NOT RESPOND TO MY LETTER. CHRYSLER HAS NEVER RESPONDED TO MY CONCERNS. THIS DEFECT HAS THE POSSIBILITY OF CAUSING A COLLISION RESULTING IN DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY.*JB
DURING THE SHORT TIME I HAVE OWNED MY PACIFICA IT HAS STALLED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WITHOUT WARNING WHILE I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THERE IS NO CONSISTENCY TO THE OCCURRENCES EITHER - ONCE WHILE MAKING A SLOW, SHARP LEFT TURN WHILE TURNING AROUND A CUL-DE-SAC, ANOTHER TIME WHILE MAKING A SLOW, SHARP RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT, ALSO WHILE SITTING IDLE IN A PARKING LOT...THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE SPECIFICALLY FOR ITS SAFETY STANDARDS, BUT IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE TO BUY A "SAFER" CAR WHEN IT PUTS YOU IN A DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION WITHOUT WARNING WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT. I AM A REALTOR AND DRIVE CLIENTS AROUND ALL THE TIME - ENDANGERING THEM AS WELL AS MYSELF IS A HUGE LIABILITY I DON'T CARE TO TAKE, AS I'M SURE CHRYSLER DOES NOT EITHER. WHEN I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR, THEY CANNOT REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM & SAY IT DOES NOT GIVE AN ERROR CODE ON THEIR COMPUTER READOUT - THEREFORE ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXABLE UNTIL IT CAN BE REPRODUCED WHILE IN THEIR HANDS & HOOKED UP TO A MACHINE - HIGHLY UNLIKELY. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE RECALL FOR THE POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V432000); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,065.

2005 PACIFICA TOURING WAS LEASED IN JULY 2005. SINCE THEN, THE UPGRADED INFINITY SOUND SYSTEM HAS REQUIRED REPAIR TWICE AND REGULARLY MAKES A LOUD POPPING SOUND. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT CAME ON SIGNALING A FAILURE IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM MARCH 2006. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR MARCH 30, 2006 TO REPAIR THE ABS SYSTEM AND ON MY WAY TO WORK, I NEEDED TO TURN LEFT, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY SPED UP INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN. A FEW WEEKS PRIOR, WE SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE ANOTHER LEFT TURN AND THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUT OFF COMPLETELY. I HAD LEASED THE PACIFICA FOR 36 MONTHS, AND LAST WEEK WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED AND MY CAR SPED UP WHILE BRAKING, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DEMANDED THAT THEY GET ME OUT OF THAT VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO TERMINATE MY LEASE AND PURCHASE A JEEP VEHICLE (THE DEALERSHIP SELLS JEEP) BECAUSE AFTER I READ DOZENS OF CONSUMER COMPLAINTS, REVIEWS FROM NHTSA AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS ABOUT THE SAFETY ISSUES OF THIS VEHICLE, I COULDN'T, IN GOOD FAITH, PUT MYSELF OR MY CHILD IN THAT VEHICLE EVER AGAIN. NOT ONLY WOULD DRIVING THE PACIFICA PUT OUR LIVES AT RISK, BUT THAT OF OTHERS. I COULD NOT LIVE WITH MYSELF IF I KNOWINGLY OPERATED A HAZARDOUS VEHICLE AND HURT SOMEONE AS A RESULT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE STALLING AND COMMENTED THAT THEY HAVE NOT INFORMATION FROM CHRYSLER THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. A SMALL PIECE OF ROAD DEBRIS ( 1X4 BOARD) CONTACTED THE UNDERSIDE OF MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA PUNCTURING THE FUEL TANK. THE TANKS IS HUNG LOWER THAN THE SURROUNDING CHASSIS COMPONENTS AND DOES NOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF SHIELD OR SKID PLATE, LEAVING IT RATHER VULNERABLE TO DAMAGE FROM ROAD DEBRIS. FURTHERMORE THE TANKS IS LOCATED CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER. COST TO REPLACE THE TANK WAS IN EXCESS OF $1000.00. THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER FELT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE DESIGN AND THAT THERE IS NO FIX AVAILABLE TO PREVENT THIS FROM RE-OCCURRING. FURTHERMORE THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD NO KNOWLEDGE ON ANY REPORTING SYSTEM WITHIN DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO WHOM WE COULD REPORT OUR CONCERNS. *JB

2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA NOTICED LOUD ENGINE TAPPING AFTER A COUPLE THOUSAND MILES AFTER PURCHASE. CHECKED OIL AND IT WAS ABOUT 2.5 QUARTS LOW. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED, ALL WAS FINE.. DROVE ANOTHER 2000 MILES,CHECKED OIL AND 2 QUARTS LOW AGAIN. HAD A DEALERSHIP LOOK INTO IT AND THEY SAID THEY FOUND NO LEAKS. WAS TOLD 2 QUARTS IN 2000 MILES IS NOT NORMAL. THIS WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT WITH THE VEHICLE, WHICH ALSO HAVE HAD AN ENGINE THAT STALLED. THE ENGINE FAILURE LIGHT ALERTED THE CONTACT FOR THE ENGINE PROBLEM. THE ABS LIGHT ALSO ALERTED THE CONTACT FOR THE BRAKES FAILURE; THE SENSORS WERE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP HAD HONORED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THE CONTACT WAS VERY UPSET BECAUSE OF THE SIX TIMES THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP.
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SPARE TIRE IS NOT SAFE TO USE TEMPORARY. *TS THE OWNERS MANUAL INDICATED THAT UNEQUAL TIRE SIZE MAY CAUSE FAILURE OF THE POWER TRANSFER UNIT AND/OR VISCOUS COUPLING. THE CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE DOUGHNUT SPARE IS INADEQUATE AND REQUEST THAT THE MANUFACTURER PROVIDE HIM WITH A FULL SIZE SPARE. THE CURRENT SPARE IS A 18" GOODYEAR SPARE. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT BACK TO THE DEALER OF ORIGIN TWICE AND WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY CONNECTED THE CARS COMPUTER TO A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE THAT INFORMS THE DEALER IF THE CAR HAS A PROBLEM, BUT BOTH TIMES THE DEALER COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AS I EXPERIENCED A SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY TO ME OR ANY OTHER MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR THAT I COULD HAVE COLLIDED WITH.
