WHILE DRIVING, THE FUEL GAUGE WILL FLUCTUATE ERRATICALLY AND, OCCASIONALLY, I WILL COMPLETELY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. THE CONTACT OPERATED THE SWITCH TO TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V066000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER FOR A ROUTINE OIL AND MISC FILTER CHANGE ON OCTOBER 4, 2017. I WAS SHOWN THE DETERIORATION/DISINTEGRATION OF THE CROSS MEMBER/CRADLE ROT OF THE CAR. OF COURSE, THEY SHOWED ME THE CRADLE ROT ISSUE AFTER THE $334 OF WORK THEY'D DONE! I'D INQUIRED ABOUT A VIBRATION OR LOUD HUM SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF MY CAR ON MARCH 22, 2017 WHEN I HAD AN EARLIER OIL CHANGE. ON THE SERVICE ORDER, IT WAS NOTED AS "ENGINE PERFORMANCE CONCERN," BUT I SAID I THOUGHT IT WAS WITH THE ACCELERATION OR ROTATION OF THE TIRES THAT WAS MAKING THE SOUND. "THE TECHNICIAN SUPPOSEDLY CHECKED IT OUT AND SAID IT WAS FOUND TO BE OPERATING NORMALLY AT THIS TIME. THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLY "TIRE NOISE." TODAY, I NOW UNDERSTAND WHY THE FRONT END OF MY CAR HAS BEEN LOUDER THAN WHAT I REMEMBERED IT. TODAY I JUST DISCOVERED THE ACTUAL ISSUE WITH MY CAR IS TYPICAL OF MANY 2005 PACIFICAS. I'M SURE I AM NOT THE FIRST 2005 PACIFICA OWNER THAT HAS HAD THEIR VEHICLE SERVICED AT THEIR FACILITY, AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OF PACIFICAS. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR A SIGNIFICANT EXTENT OF TIME; I'M QUITE DISTURBED THAT THE DEALER'S NEGLIGENCE IN NOT INFORMING ME OF THIS PROBLEM MUCH EARLIER CAN OR COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY TO MYSELF AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS. I'M SURE I AM NOT THE FIRST 2005 PACIFICA OWNER THAT HAS HAD THEIR VEHICLE SERVICED AT THEIR FACILITY, AND THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR YEAR OF PACIFICAS. I STILL SEE SEVERAL 2005 PACIFICAS DRIVING ON THE STREETS, ROADS AND INTERSTATES. I JUST HOPE THESE PACIFICA OWNERS WILL BE MADE AWARE OF THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. I HAVE RELIGIOUSLY TAKEN CARE OF MY CAR BECAUSE I REALLY LOVE IT, AND I INTENDED TO KEEP IT FOR A FEW MORE YEARS AND SEVERAL THOUSAND MORE MILES. I'M LOOKING FOR A CAR. NOW
BODY FRAME RUSTING OUTLER PACIFICA
SUB FRAME RUST, DO TO CHRYSLER NOT CORRECTLY COATING THE SUBFRAME ON THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, THE SUB FRAME RUSTS AWAY MAKING THE ENGINE UNSECURED POTENTLY CAUSING THE ENGINE TO DROP POTENTLY CAUSING A MULTIPLE CAR INCIDENT OR DEATH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. A UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000(POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,474.
SUB-FRAME BROKE ON ME. IT IS THE EXACT PART THAT WAS RECALLED FOR THE 2004 PACIFICA. HOWEVER THERE IS NO RECALL FOR 2005? THE SUB FRAME BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING, WITH A CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN, ESPECIALLY IN THE "SALT BELT" CHRYSLER'S SELF ADMITTED INSUFFICIENT PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE SUB FRAME OF THESE CARS, SHOULD BE ENOUGH PROOF, TO RAISE EYEBROWS AND REMEDY THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPAIR ALL THE DAMAGE THIS CAUSED, AND PACIFICA'S CANNOT HOLD A RESELL VALUE, AS SELLING THIS TO ANOTHER PERSON, IS JUST LIKE HANDING THEM A TICKING TIME BOMB. WHY IS THERE NO SOLUTION OR HELP ON THIS ISSUE? I AM NOT ALONE WITH THESE ISSUES. I SUPPOSE IT WILL TAKE DEATHS FROM THIS FAULTY PART BEFORE ANY REAL ACTION IS ACTUALLY TAKEN. HAVING A STRONG PIECE OF METAL TO KEEP MY MOTOR FROM FALLING ON THE GROUND ISN'T TO MUCH TO ASK, OR IS IT? THE ONLY OPTION I HAVE TO KEEP MY PRIMARY VEHICLE ON THE ROAD, IS TO TRY WELDING THE SUB FRAME AND HOPE FOR THE BEST.
DEALER REPORTED ON 8/15/2017 THAT MY CAR HAS AN ENGINE CRADLE PROBLEM. THERE ARE HOLES IN THE CRADLE NOW DUE TO RUSTING. HE ALSO TOLD ME IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM.
THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM THE SUB-FRAME THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE TO THE CAR IS RUSTED THROUGH THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THRU AND WILL BECOME A HAZARD TO DRIVE WITHOUT REPAIRS THE CARS ARE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE BECAUSE THE ENGINES CAN FALL OUT.
A FEW MONTHS AGO, I NOTICED A SHAKING IN THE STEERING WHEEL OF MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. IT SEEMED TO BECAME MUCH WORSE, VERY QUICKLY, TO THE POINT OF WHERE I COULD BARELY HOLD THE CAR STRAIGHT, SO I TOOK IT IN THIS WEEK FOR A BRAKE INSPECTION. THE PROBLEM ISN'T THE BRAKES AT ALL.. THE ENTIRE UNIBODY FRAME AND ENGINE CARRIAGE HAVE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND DETERIORATED!! THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE VEHICLE WASN'T SAFE TO EVEN DRIVE HOME! HE WAS ABLE TO PUSH HIS FINGER THROUGH THE CARRIAGE, AND SAID THAT THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO FALL OUT ONTO THE GROUND! BOTH AXELS ARE ALSO RUSTED ALMOST COMPLETELY OFF. IT'S HORRIBLE! I AM ATTACHING PICTURES.... AND, AS IT TURNS OUT, CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS PACIFICA RUST ISSUE! I DECIDED TO SEARCH THE INTERNET FOR "2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA RUST", AND IT ISN'T JUST MY CAR! CHRYSLER KNOWS THAT I, AND SO MANY OTHERS, ARE OUT HERE DRIVING OUR BABIES AROUND IN VEHICLES WITH RUSTED OUT FRAMES THAT COULD SNAP AT ANY SECOND!!! (IE. I PURCHASED A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA USED FROM A FAMILY MEMBER IN 2015. I HAD IT SERVICED AT THE SAME GARAGE THAT THEY DID PRIOR TO PURCHASING IT. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A FLAT TIRE REPAIR AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO CRADLE RUST. THE FRAME THAT SUSPENDS THE ENGINE IS RUSTED AND IT WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS PROBLEM MUST HAVE TAKEN A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO DEVELOP. IT HAD NEVER BEEN MENTIONED IN THE MANY YEARS OF ROUTINE SERVICE IN WHICH THE CAR HAD BEEN INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $3000 TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. IN RESEARCHING THIS, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS AN ADMISSION FROM CHRYSLER THAT PACIFICAS MANUFACTURED IN 2004 AND 2005 HAD NOT BEEN PROPERLY PROTECTED FROM RUST IN THE CRADLE. THIS IS A MANUFACTURE PROBLEM. THIS HAS CREATED A SITUATION IN WHICH THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CAR IS IN GOOD SHAPE OTHERWISE AND HAS BEEN RELIABLE. I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IF I HAD NOT TAKEN IT IN TO REPAIR THE TIRE. I PURCHASED IT TO DRIVE TO AND FROM COLLEGE AND NOW I HAVE NO TRANSPORTATION. I AM THANKFUL THAT I WAS NOT INJURED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, BUT MANY PEOPLE ARE STILL DRIVING THESE CARS AND ARE UNAWARE THAT THERE IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED BY CHRYSLER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.
TOOK MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA INTO THE MECHANIC FOR FRONT END NOISE. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT MY SUB FRAME IS RUSTED OUT. THE MECHANIC IS CONCERNED THAT MY ENGINE COULD FALL OUT.
MY FUEL GAUGE IS NOT READING ANYTHING WHEN IT'S ON FULL I LOOKED OTHER RECALLS BACK IN THOSE TIMES AND THAT THE FUEL PUMP WHICH IS THE PRIMARY WASN'T READING THE SECONDARY FUEL PUMP
2005 PACIFICA BOUGHT FROM DEALER NOW OUT OF BUSINESS. VEHICLE FAILED PENNSYLVANIA STATE INSPECTION IN JULY 2017 FOR ROTTED SUB FRAME / K FRAME. HAD JUST SPENT $600 ON A CATALYTIC CONVERTER. NOW THE ESTIMATE IS $3100 FOR A NEW SUB FRAME... THIS COST TOTALS THE VEHICLE AND I'LL HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE AND I'M OUT $600 TO BOOT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. RUST PREVENTION UNDERCOATING NOT DONE OR NOT DONE PROPERLY. SOME SAY IT WAS SKIPPED ENTIRELY. PROBLEM IS REPORTED ON THE WEB OFTEN AND IS WELL KNOWN. VEHICLE CANNOT PASS STATE INSPECTION AND CANNOT BE DRIVEN SAFELY. ENGINE COULD FALL OUT THE BOTTOM. IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT OR SOME GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THE VEHICLE IS WORSE THAN USELESS, IT'S DANGEROUS.

AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FUEL. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS FILLED WITH FUEL. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED NUMEROUS TIMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN SHOP WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN) WAS REPAIRED BEFORE SHE BECAME THE OWNER. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 184,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE STATIONARY, THE DEALER NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED. RYAN AUTO MALL IN BUFFALO, MINNESOTA DIAGNOSED THAT THE CROSS MEMBERS WITHIN THE ENGINE CRADLE WERE ROTTED AND RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL PUMP WOULD SHUT OFF EACH TIME AFTER DISPENSING 2/10 OF A GALLON OF FUEL. IN ADDITION, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED FALSE READINGS THAT INDICATED THE FUEL TANK WAS HALF FULL BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO NO FUEL. ALSO, THE FUEL MILEAGE RANGE DISPLAYED FALSE INFORMATION, INDICATING THAT THE FUEL MILEAGE RANGE WAS 120 MILES BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO A LACK OF FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED FILTERS AND VALVES, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
EXTENSIVE UNDER CARRIAGE RUSTING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR AND ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE CONTACT MANUALLY SHIFTED INTO PARK AND REMOVED THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION SWITCH IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
DUE TO FAILURE OF THE CORROSION PROTECTION ON THE ENGINE CRADLE RUST HAS CREATED HOLES IN THE CRADLE THAT SUPPORTS THE ENGINE. OVER CERTAIN ROUGH ROADS THERE IS A KNOCKING SOUND.
OUR VEHICLE HAS 88,000 MILES AND IT JUST FAILED A SAFETY INSPECTION BECAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTING/RUSTED AND THE ENGINE IS IN JEOPARDY OF FALLING OUT OF THE CAR. THE DEALER (GOOD BROTHERS DODGE) ACKNOWLEDGES THE SAFETY CONCERN AND THAT CHRYSLER HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH THESE. THEY SUPPLIED A $3,200 ESTIMATE TO REPAIR. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER, THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE SHOULDN'T BE DRIVEN. THERE APPEARS TO BE A PENDING CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS VERY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER UNWILLINGNESS TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHILE THE SPEEDOMETER REVVED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN CODE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000.
ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING THROUGH AND IS GOING TO CRACK IN HALF , THE ENGINE WILL FALL OUT IF NOT REPLACED. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS WHEN MY CAR WAS IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE . THANK GOD OR WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT.
BODY CONTROL MODULE FAILURE, LOST HEADLIGHTS , WIPERS, COULD NOT CLOSE WINDOWS, AIRBAG LIGHTS CAME ON. IF DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN MODULE FAILS YOU LOSE ALL HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS. WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME OF FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE AND MOUNTS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED WITH HOLES. THE VEHICLE WAS DETERMINED TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,801.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK AND THEN STALLED. WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A RAPID SPEED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE EGR VALVE, WATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR, AND INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,753.
ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTEN FILL WITH HOLES .NEED TO BE REPLACE AT TUNE OF $4000 WHICH I DON'T HAVE CHRYSLER KNOW OF PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO RECALL
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR WOULD STALL AT STOP SIGNS OR HAS ISSUES MAINTAINING SPEED GOING UP HILLS. ALSO I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A MECHANIC AND THEY TOLD ME THE SUB-FRAME IS COMPLETELY ROTTED THROUGH AND THE STEERING IS BEING HELD TOGETHER WITH 1 BOLT. THEY STATED THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.
TRANSMISSION ALL THE SUDDEN ACTED LIKE IT WASN'T AHIFTING JUST DRIVING NORMALLY ON REGULAR PAVED ROAD, RPMS HIGH AND DIES AND HAS A KNOCK UNDER THE HOOD. TRIED LOOKING UP WHAT IS WRONG AND APPARENTLY THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF THEM THAT HAVE DONE SAME THING. WOULD LIKE TO GET IT FIXED BUT SEEMS NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT
I STARTED TO DRIVE MY 2005 CHRSYLER PACIFICA AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERES NO PROBLEM WITH MY CAR WHEN THEY DROVE IT NO CODES PULL UP SHOWING UP WHEN THEY TEST THAT. IT SHIFTS HARD FROM SECOUND GEAR TO 3 RD GEAR REALLY HARD I CANT TAKE OFF TO FAST OR IT DOES IT HARDER SO I HALF TO MAKE SURE GETTING ON THE HIGH WAY WHERE I LIVE NO ONE IS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR ME TO GO SO FOR ME TO DRIVE SLOW AND PICK UP SPEED AND IT DOES IT WHEN I START TO SLOW DOWN ONCE I SLOWED DOWN IT JERKS FROM SECOUND GEAR TO 3RD GEAR AND ITS SCARY I HALF TO TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL AND I HAVE 3 KIDS WITH ME AT ALL TIMES IN THIS CAR.
SUBFRAME NEARLY RUSTED THROUGH AT WELDS. FRAME HAS ALMOST NO RUST, BUT AGAIN, SUBFRAME SO RUSTED CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE CAN EXPLAIN EXCEPT SOMETHING WAS MISSED IN PRODUCTION. RESEARCHING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND THAT TO BE A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. RUST WAS FOUND WHILE PERFORMING OIL CHANGE. THERE HASNT BEEN AN ACCIDENT BUT THE SUBFRAME THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE IS RUSTING THROUGH SO I DONT WANT TO DRIVE AND FIND MY ENGINE ON THE GROUND.
ON FEBRUARY 20TH, 2017 I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE TECH PULLED ME IN THE SHOP TO SHOW ME THAT MY SUBFRAME IS RUSTED.
OFFICIAL CHRYSLER SERVICE REPAIR SHOP HAS BEEN DOING MY OIL CHANGES EVERY 3 MONTHS - 4 TIMES A YEAR SINCE 2005 WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR. NOT ONCE HAS THEIR MECHANIC MENTIONED THE RUST OF THE CROSS MEMBER. I ONLY FOUND OUT AND TOOK PICTURES THIS WEEK WHEN I HAD A LOCAL SHOP CHANGE MY BREAKS AND DO TRANSMISSION SERVICE AND THEY SHOWED ME THE RUST, COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT NO ONE EVER MENTIONED THIS AS IT WAS EXTREME WITH CRACKS AND HOLES AND THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE REGARDING RUST ON CROSS MEMBER DUE TO THEM NOT PROPERLY COATING THE ENGINE CRADLE. CHRYSLER HAS HAD CERTAIN VIN #'S RECALLED, BUT CLAIM NOT MINE THOUGH BUILD IN 2004, I AM IN A SNOW BELT STATE ( NY). THEY DON'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR, DANGEROUS AND ENGINE CAN FALL OUT - COULD COST $4000-5000 TO REPAIR FRONT AND BACK - AND UNFORTUNATELY I DON'T HAVE FINANCES TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR. I JUST WANT MY CAR COVERED UNDER THEIR WARRANTEE. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN OVER NIGHT. I ONLY HAVE 127,000 MILES AND RARELY DRIVE IN THE SNOW AS IT IS AWFUL IN THE SNOW.
MY CROSS-MEMBER HAS A FOOT LONG CRACK IN IT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE.THE RUSTING OF THE CROSS MEMBER WAS FIRST SPOTTED ON AUGUST 5. 2015.
THE ENGINE CRADLE IS VERY RUSTED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME WHERE HE TOOK PHOTOS OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PHOTOS WERE SHOWN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED AND COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON MY VEHICLES PROBLEMS WITH EXCESSIVE RUST IN THE SUBFRAME. A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS OF THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I NEED TO BRING THIS UP BECAUSE IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE I'M NOT FEELING SAFE TO DRIVE IT. NOT SURE IF THE MANUFACTURES DIDN'T FOLLOW THE PROPER STEPS ON COATING THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF A VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND MY VEHICLE IS ALMOST 12 YEARS OLD, I EXPECT SOME RUST TO BE THERE BUT WHEN YOU SEE HOLES BIG ENOUGH TO STICK YOUR HAND INSIDE, IT'S A PROBLEM!! I REALLY TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLE AND IT'S HAS A LOT MORE TO GIVE, BUT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND UNSAFE. I HAVE SEEN OTHER VEHICLES AROUND THE SAME AGE AND DO NOT HAVE SUCH EXTENSE ROT. I THINK THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS.
MECHANIC LIFTED MY 2005 PACIFICA (150,000+ MILES), TO CHANGE WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS A BAD CRANK SHAFT SENSOR. WHILE ON LIFT, NOTICED THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS OVER 75% CRACKED AND RUSTED. HE ADVISED THIS IS A VERY SEVERE DRIVING HAZARD FOR ME AND MY 3 CHILDREN TO DRIVE AND DUE TO THE CRACKING, THE ENGINE COULD FALL AT ANY TIME. HE WOULD NOT REPAIR AND STAYED IF I WERE TO FIND A MECHANIC WILLING TO REPAIR THIS, IS BE LOOKING AT LEAST $3000. VERY UPSET AND WORRIED THAT THIS BEING MY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, WILL IT BE SAFE IF REPAIRED ? *TR
SINCE I PURCHASED THIS IN 2008, I HAVE REPLACED THE AXLE, 2 WHEEL BEARINGS A FEW MONTHS AGO, A FEW YEARS AGO 1 ABS SENSOR WAS REPLACED VIA WARRANTY BUT THEY WOULDN'T REPLACE THE OTHER - WHICH WENT OUT 2 MONTHS LATER. THEY KNEW IT WAS GOING TO. I REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION 2 YEARS, THE FUEL PUMP & CATALYTIC CONVERTER LAST YEAR, JUST REPLACED THE OIL PAN GASKET 2 MONTHS AGO, THE RADIATOR 2 WEEKS AGO DUE TO COOLANT LEAD, AND NOW THE WATER PUMP IS LEAKING COOLANT. THIS IS JUST WHAT I CAN THINK OF OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD. IT HAS BEEN ONE PROBLEM AFTER THE OTHER WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I HAVE SPENT A FORTUNE ON IT. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT & MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW UP ON THE RECALLS. *TR
BROUGHT VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE STARTER REPLACED AND WHEN THEY PUT IT UP ON HOIST THEY CALLED ME BACK TO SHOW ME THAT'S THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AND THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS WILL COST A LOT TO REPAIR. VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AND WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD VIOLENTLY SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED THROUGH TO THE POINT THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT. THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MILFORD CHRYSLER DEALER (LOCATED ON 1470 BOSTON POST RD, MILFORD, CT 06460) WHO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 270,000.
I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE CAGE IS SEVERELY ROTTING AWAY AND DRIVING MY CAR IS A ROAD HAZARD. I ONLY HAVE 138,000 MILES ON MY CAR AND WOULD LIKE TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT DIES...BUT RIGHT NOW I WAS TOLD THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NO LONGER MADE AND I WOULD HAVE TO FIND A SALVAGE CAR TO FIND A REPLACEMENT PART. THE QUADRANT REMAINS THAT I BOUGHT A USED CAR FROM A CHRYSLER DEALER THAT SHOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE RECALL ON THIS PART DUE TO IT NOT BEING MANUFACTURED CORRECTLY FOR CORROSION RESISTANCE. APPARENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. IF I WERE TO SELL IT I WOULD BE PASSING A DANGEROUS CAR ON TO SOMEONE ELSE...I STILL OWE ON THIS CAR AND IT IS WORTH LESS THAN WHAT I OWE LET ALONE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE TO WORK 75 MILES A DAY. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO MAKE AMENDS OR REPARATIONS FOR THE LACK OF ACTION REGARDING THE SAFETY ISSUE HERE...AND THIS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
THE FRONT CRADLE IS SO BADLY RUSTED IT BROKE IN THREE DIFFERENT PLACES.. I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN I MADE A LEFT TURN AND NOTICED THE STEERING WAS REAL TIGHT AND DID NOT RELEASE BACK.. I TRAVELED FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD AND NOTICED IT WAS SWAYING AND HARD TO KEEP STRAIGHT.. WHEN I MADE IT HOME I USED A FLASHLIGHT BECAUSE IT WAS DARK OUT AND SEEN WHERE IT HAD SNAPPED. THREE DIFFERENT SPOTS.. I'M MAD BECAUSE THIS WAS KNOWN ISSUE AND I WAS NOT NOTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP OR CHRYSLER THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT PRONE TO THAT MAKE AND MODEL. NO AVERAGE PERSON CHECKS THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF A CAR WHEN THE BODY LOOKS SO GOOD. *TR
OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (156,595 MILES) PASSED OUR ANNUAL STATE INSPECTION, BUT WE NEEDED TO TRAVEL 1000 MILES, SO WE ASKED OUR MECHANIC TO GIVE IT A MORE THOROUGH LOOK JUST TO MAKE SURE IT COULD HANDLE A LONG DISTANCE TRIP. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE ENGINE CRADLE LOOKED FINE, BUT HE HAPPENED TO FEEL IT MOVE, SO HE USED A CAMERA TO INSPECT THE HIDDEN UPPER SIDE. GOOD THING HE DID! THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS PRACTICALLY RUSTED THROUGH, AND THE ENGINE COULD HAVE DROPPED OUT IF WE HIT A SIGNIFICANT BUMP. I WAS SHOCKED TO DISCOVER THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT, BUT ONLY RECALLED A HAND-FULL OF CARS. THIS IS A DISGRACE. MY FAMILY COULD HAVE DIED, AND MANY OTHERS ARE AT RISK FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT IS NOT EASILY SPOTTED ON A ROUTINE INSPECTION. NOT TO MENTION, WE HAD TO PAY NEARLY $3000 FOR REPAIRS. WE COULD NOT TRADE IN THE RUST HEAP FOR A BETTER CAR SINCE THE PACIFICA HAS NO RESALE VALUE, ALSO THANKS TO THIS "CRADLE ROT" PROBLEM. FOR SHAME CHRYSLER!
