I HAVE A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO FIND OUT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTED. I DID SOME INVESTIGATING AND THIS IS A KNOW SAFETY ISSUE WITH THE 2004 AND 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S. CHRYSLER REFUSES TO HELP IN THIS ISSUE. THEY REALLY AREN'T STANDING BEHIND THE PRODUCT. *TR
WE BOUGHT OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM A PRIVATE SELLER ... TWO DAYS LATER WE BROUGTH IT INTO THE SHOP TO GET A MYSTERIOUS CLUNK CHECKED OUT AND FOUND THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS ALMOST ROTTED AWAY. AFTER OWNING THE VEHICLE FOR NOT EVEN 48 HOURS IT IS NOW UNSAFE TO DRIVE, I CALLED INTO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE BECAUSE I SAW A RECALL THAT AT ONE POINT COVERED THIS MODEL AND I WAS TOLD, " I APLOGIZE BUT THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO". MY QUESTION IS ... IF AT ONE POINT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO OPPERATE BECAUSE OF THE ENGINE CRADLE RUST PROBLEM, WHAT CHANGED TO EXCLUDE THIS MODEL? I HAVE PLENTY OF PICTURES THAT SHOW I SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT. *TR
SEVERE SUBFRAME ROT, ENGINE COULD POSSIBLY FALL OUT.
I RECENTLY HAD SOME WORK DONE ON MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND MY MECHANIC FOUND THAT I HAD TWO LARGE ROTTED OUT HOLES IN MY ENGINE CRADLE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THE GENTLEMAN IN CUSTOMER SERVICE STATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN THAT MY AUTO WAS TEN YEARS OLD. I WENT TO GO USE THE WARRANTY THAT I PURCHASED AT CARS 4 YOU, LLC AND FOUND OUT THAT THE DEALER NEVER SUBMITTED THE APPLICATION FOR THE WARRANTY BUT POCKETED THE MONEY FROM THE FINANCE COMPANY. HONOR FINANCE KNEW WHAT THE DEALER HAD DONE TO FEW PEOPLE BUT DID NOT FEEL THE NEED TO WARN EVERYONE WHO BOUGHT AN AUTO FROM THE SAME DEALER. HERE I AM WITH A PACIFICA THAT I OWE 6,000.00 NO WARRANTY AND TWO LARGE HOLES IN MY ENGINE CRADLE. NEVER EVER WILL I BUY A CHRYSLER PRODUCT. THEIR MOTTO IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS PRIORITY ONE BUT THIS MUST BE FOR THE FIRST TEN YEARS ONLY.
ENGINE CRADLE CORROSION HAS SUBJECTED VEHICLE AND PASSENGERS TO POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC STRUCTURAL FAILURE. SUB-FRAME IS SUFFICIENTLY RUSTED TO RESULT IN FRAME BENDING. FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE FRONT WHEELS CAN NO LONGER BE PROPERLY ALIGNED. THIS FRONT-END ALIGNMENT ISSUE PERSISTS DESPITE PURCHASING AND INSTALLING THE AFTERMARKET CAMBER KIT NECESSARY FOR THE ALIGNMENT REAR WHEELS. *JS
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN RATTLING NOISE EMITTED FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
THEN VEICHLE WAS PARKED FOR A FEW DAYS AND WHEN I TRY TO STARTED UP IT MADE A NOISE LIKE IF THE STARTED BROKE AND I LOOK UNTHERE THE CAR AND I FOUND A HOLE ON THE BLOCK NEVER GAVE ME SINES OR MADE A NOISE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD JERK AND HESITATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO DAMAGED MOTOR MOUNTS AND SEVERE RUSTING OF THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000.
TOLD MY CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE....SUBFRAME ROTTED OUT! CHRYSLER ADMITTED IT WAS THEIR FAULT BUT WILL NOT HELP ME UNLESS I SIGN A WAIVER OF AGREEING TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS THAT THEY CAUSE WHILE FIXING THIS MAJOR ISSUE. I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE SIGNING AND NOW THEY WON'T HELP ME. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. THIS IS A HORRIFIC MISHANDLING OF CONSUMER RIGHTS! I HAVE ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 6 YEARS AND PUT 50K MILES ON IT. THESE CARS SHOULD BE RECALLED NOW BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED DRIVING ONE OF THEM. *TR
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE THE TECHNICIAN POINTED OUT TO ME AN ABNORMAL AMOUNT OF RUST AND ROT ON THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. I PROCEEDED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THE ENGINE SUPPORT CRADLE WAS PERFORATED AND ROTTED. CHRYSLER USED SUBSTANDARD METAL AND ENGINEERING ALLOWING ROAD DEBRIS AND WATER IN BUT NOT OUT.(NO DRAIN HOLES) I WAS INFORMED THAT ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE MAY NOT FALL THROUGH AT THIS TIME, THAT IT COULD SHIFT DOWNWARD AND STALL. THIS IS A CLEAR SAFETY HAZARD FOR VEHICLES OF THIS MODEL/YEAR AND SHOULD BE REMEDIED BY CHRYSLER. *TR
REAR ENDED A CHEV. TRUCK AT APPROX. 30 MPH. WIFE SUSTAINED NECK, BACK, AND SHOULDER. UPPER TORSO WAS THE MOST AFFECTED AREA AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *TR
OUR VEHICLE HAS HAD A SHAKE TO IT FOR A COUPLE YEARS. WE HAVE HAD IT LOOKED AT NUMEROUS TIMES AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. OUR VEHICLE WENT INTO A SHOP TODAY AS THE INSPECTION IS DUE BY END OF JAN. 2015 . THE SHOP CALLED AND ADVISED OUR ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THRU. ADVISED US IT WOULD COST A COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR. I DID SOME LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, FOUND OUT CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL ON ENGINE CRADLES THAT WERE NOT PROPERTY COATED WHICH ALLOWED RUST TO DAMAGE THE CRADLE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER - AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS FOR VEH MADE BETWEEN 2/23/04 - 3/31/04. MY VEHICLE WAS MADE 7/04. MY DAUGHTER, ON OUR ADVICE, OWNS THE SAME YEAR OF THE VEHICLE. HER VEHICLE WAS MADE 9/04. CHRYSLER TOLD ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME AND ENDED THE CONVERSATION. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ALL DEALING WITH THE ENGINE CRADLE ISSUE. WE CAN'T AFFORD TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AT THIS TIME AS I AM ILL AND NOT ABLE TO WORK AND MY HUSBAND (55 YEARS OLD) HAD A HEART ATTACK ON HIS 55TH BIRTHDAY AND HAS JUST GONE BACK TO WORK. I AM SICK OVER THIS AND AFRAID TO TELL MY HUSBAND FOR FEAR HE WILL HAVE ANOTHER HEART ATTACK. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THEIR SELVES. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING. *TR
ON ROUTINE INSPECTION, DISCOVERED SUBFRAME / CARRIAGE NEARLY RUSTED THROUGH. TOLD IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WHILE A SMALL GROUP OF OWNERS RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS DESIGN DEFECT IN 2010, WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED AND A CALL TO CHRYSLER CONFIRMED THAT DESPITE SELECTIVE RECALL, THIS CAR NOT ELIGIBLE FOR COMPENSATION OR REMEDIATION. *TR
AT 90,562 MILES FELT VIBRATION UNDER UPHILL LOAD. DEALER EVALUATED AND SERVICED TRANS W/FILTERS AND FLUID WITH NO RESULT. (SEE SCAN 0008) WENT ON TO INSTALL NEW TORQUE CONVERTER WITH NO RESULT. (SEE SCAN 0009) TOOK CAR IN FOR TUNE-UP, AND MECHANIC SAW THAT ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED THROUGH ON 1 SIDE ABOUT 18". TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR DAMAGE DOCUMENTATION AND ESTIMATE OF REPAIR (SEE SCAN 0010) CLASSIFIED BY DEALER AS MAJOR DEFECT THAT WILL SOON MAKE THE CAR ROAD UNWORTHY. MY INTENTION WAS TO KEEP THE CAR FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 80K MILES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERE RUSTING ON THE FRONT MOTOR HARNESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MOTOR HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
MY 10 YEAR OLD CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS ROT IN THE SUBFRAME. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME DURING A ROUTINE CHECK. *TR
THIS IS A STRUCTURAL ISSUE NOTED BY MECHANIC DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. MECHANIC IDENTIFIED EXTENSIVE RUST AND CORROSION OF ENGINE CRADLE. DAMAGE INCLUDES MULIPLE CRACKS AND A HOLE WIDE ENOUGH TO INSERT 3 FINGERS. MECHANIC RECOMMENDS REPLACING ENGINE CRADLE. VEHICLE PURCHASED 10 YEARS AGO ON THIS DATE. MILEAGE LESS THAN 80,000. VEHICLE TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR EVALUATION. DEALER ESCALATED TO MANUFACTURER. AWAITING DETERMINATION FROM CHRYSLER AS TO WHETHER IT WILL COVER THE REPAIR. EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR PACIFICAS MANUFACTURED BETWEEN FEB 23, 2004 AND MARCH 31, 2004 NOT APPLICABLE. THIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN APRIL 2004. *TR
WENT IN FOR ANNUAL INSPECTION ON 2005 PACIFICA. MECHANIC REPORTED RUSTED SUB FRAME; EVERYTHING ELSE IS FINE; MILEAGE IS ABOUT 130000. SERVICE CENTER INFORMED ME THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY CHRYSLER. EXCELLENT ARTICLE ON IT TOO: HTTP://WWW.NBCCHICAGO.COM/INVESTIGATIONS/MINIVAN-OWNERS-WANT-CHRYSLER-TO-CONCEDE-RUST-PROBLEMS-241535881.HTML. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID MY VEHICLE FALLS OUTSIDE THE NARROW WINDOW THEY RECALLED SO I AM NOT ELIGIBLE FOR ANY WARRANTY. THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME ANY REASON WHY THE RECALL WINDOW WAS LIMITED TO A 6 WEEK PERIOD. I HAVE SEEN HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS. UNBELIEVABLE THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER. I WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW CAR AND SURELY WON'T BE BUYING A CHRYSLER GIVEN MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
I WAS JUST INFORMED BY MY MECHANIC TODAY THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IN MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IS CORRODING. THE CRADLE HAS TO BE REPLACED. I DID A LITTLE BIT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND FOUND THAT CHRYSLER ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR SOME 2005 PACIFICAS, BUT NOT OTHERS. APPARENTLY, THE PROCESS USED TO COAT THE PIECE WAS INSUFFICIENT, WHICH HAS LEAD TO CORROSION PROBLEMS IN AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT I FEEL IT SHOULD BE, BECAUSE WE ARE CLEARLY HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN COVERED. IN ADDITION, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH OBVIOUSLY COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS, IF NOT FATAL, ACCIDENT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT FILING THIS TYPE OF COMPLAINT CAN ACCOMPLISH, BUT I WOULD HOPE THAT CHRYSLER CAN BE MADE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I WOULD ALSO LIKE A RESPONSE FROM THE NTHSB SO I KNOW MY VOICE WAS HEARD. THANK YOU. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO INTAKE FUEL WHEN THE NOZZLE WAS INSERTED IN THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE INCORRECTLY READ HALF FULL, BUT IT WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TOOK OUR 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND THEY INFORMED US THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTING OUT AND THAT OUR ENGINE COULD FALL OUT AND THAT WOULD RESULT IN A BAD ACCIDENT. WE CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING!!! WE FOUND OUT THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS SAME CAR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET BECAUSE THE CHRYSLER MANUFACTURER OF THIS CAR DID NOT COAT THE FRAME CORRECTLY WHEN IT WAS BUILT. THIS WAS CHRYSLERS MISTAKE WHEN THIS CAR WAS MADE AND IT IS NO FAULT OF THE OWNERS THAT PURCHASED THESE CARS TO HAVE THIS TERRIBLE COSTLY AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. THIS SHOULD BE UNDER A RECALL BUT IT IS "NOT" AND NOW IT WILL COST US $3000.00 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED TO MAKE OUR CAR SAFE. WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS OF THIS CAR AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN KEEP IN A GARAGE. THERE IS ONLY 4800 MILES ON THIS CAR AND THIS SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED. WE ARE RETIRED ON A FIXED INCOME AND THIS PUT US AT A HARDSHIP. WE FEEL WE HAVE TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED TO PROTECT US , OUR FAMILY AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE ROAD. WE FEEL THIS SHOULD CERTAINLY BE ADDRESSED AND THAT THE CHRYSLER MANUFACTURER SHOULD RECALL AND STAND BEHIND ALL 2005 PACIFICA CARS. MANY PEOPLE WHO OWN THIS CAR MIGHT NEVER KNOW THIS IS HAPPENING AND IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE THESE CARS ON THE ROAD AS THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS /FATAL ACCIDENT TO MANY PEOPLE! HELP! *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I'M WAS DRIVING MY 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WHEN I NOTICED THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN SHAKING , I BROUGHT IT TO A INDEPENDENT AUTOMOTIVE SHOP , THE PROBLEM THE MECHANIC STATED WAS THAT THE SUB-FRAME/ENGINE CRADLE WAS ROTTED WITH RUST , AND WASN'T SAFE TO DRIVE , BC THE ENGINE COULD LITERALLY FALL OUT , I DID SOME QUICK RESEARCH ON THE ISSUE , AND TO MY FINDINGS THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOR MANY PEOPLE , WITH 04-05 PACIFICAS , I FOUND A LETTER THAT OTHER PEOPLE POSTED FROM CHRYSLER ONLINE THAT STATED ,THAT 04-05 PACIFICAS WARRANTY WOULD BE EXTENDED TO 10 YEAR OR 150,000 MILES WHICH EVER CAME FIRST , I CONTACTED CHRYSLER IN REFERENCE TO THIS LETTER , THEY RECOGNIZED THE LETTER , BUT CLAIMED MY VEHICLE WOULDN'T QUALIFY, BECAUSE IT DOES NOT MEET THE DATES FROM 2/23/04-3/31/04 OF MANUFACTURED, THERE ARE THOUSAND OF COMPLAINTS THAT ARE ON LINE FROM PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS ME , THIS IS COMPLETELY A SAFETY ISSUE , THE RISK PEOPLE ARE TAKEN ,SOME DON'T EVEN KNOW THAT YOUR ENGINE COULD LITERALLY FALL OUT , AT HIGH SPEEDS THIS COULD RESULT IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY . *TR

THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
WHILE CHANGING OIL I OBSERVED THAT THE FRAME HAD CORRODED AND THERE WERE RUST HOLES IN THE FRAME. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER GROUP CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS ON MY VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND WHEN TURNING ON THE DEFROSTER, THE VEHICLE LEAKS FREON ONTO THE PASSENGER SIDE FLOOR AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
FRIEND OF MINE HAD AN ISSUE WITH PACIFICA WHERE MOTOR JUST FELL OFF WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND FOUND SOMETHING I DID NOT HAD IDEA WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH MY CAR, UNDERCARRIAGE CORROSION TOO. *JS THE BOTTOM IS JUST PAPER THIN, EVERYTHING IS ROTTEN. I HAVE 115,000 MILES ON MY CAR, 2005 PACIFICA. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT CAR LOOKS FINE FROM OUTSIDE BUT ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTING OUT TO THE POINT YOU COULD ALMOST PUT HAND IN THE HOLE. IT RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT. I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON THIS CAR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE RAN OUT OF FUEL ALTHOUGH THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED 1/2 TANK OF FUEL WAS PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL SENDING UNIT WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE AND THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT TO STOP WORKING. THE LIGHT BULB WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURES WERE NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.

THIS IS AN UPDATE ON THE COMMON ENGINE CRADLE RUST ISSUE OF THE 2004-2005 PACIFICAS. I JUST HAD THE ENGINE CRADLE ON MY 2005 PACIFICA REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. A MICROMETER ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEMATIC AREA OF THE ENGINE CRADLE REVEALS THAT IT RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT, INDICATING THAT THE PROBLEM WAS INDEED DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE RUST-PROOFING PROCESS AT MANUFACTURE, AND NOT DUE DO RUSTING WHICH OCCURS THROUGH THE NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION, WHICH WOULD DEVELOP FROM THE OUTSIDE AND WORK ITS WAY INWARD. CHRYSLER HAS ADMITTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH FRAME MANUFACTURE, BUT SINCE THERE IS NO DATE OF MANUFACTURE STAMPED ON THE FRAMES THEY ARE VISUALLY INDISTINGUISHABLE FROM ANY OTHERS, MEANING THAT THEY DO NOT BECOME INDIVIDUALLY IDENTIFIABLE UNTIL ASSEMBLY OCCURS, AND THAT CAN (EITHER PURPOSEFULLY OR INADVERTENTLY) BE MONTHS OR EVEN YEARS AFTER THE FRAME MANUFACTURING OCCURS. IN OTHER WORDS, IT IS ENTIRELY POSSIBLE THAT CHRYSLER PURPOSEFULLY WITHHELD FRAMES KNOWN TO BE DANGEROUS FROM THE NORMAL ASSEMBLY PROCESS IN ORDER TO SURREPTITIOUSLY WORK THEM IN TO SUBSEQUENT ASSEMBLY RUNS A FEW DOZEN AT A TIME OVER THE COURSE OF A COUPLE YEARS SO AS TO AVOID HAVING IT APPEAR AS IF IT WAS A SINGULAR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. SINCE THERE IS NO WAY FOR ANYONE TO DETERMINE WHEN EACH OF THE IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED FRAMES WERE ACTUALLY USED FOR VEHICLE ASSEMBLY, USING VEHICLE ASSEMBLY DATES FOR DETERMINING WHICH VEHICLES HAVE BAD FRAMES IS CAPRICIOUS AND ARBITRARY. FOR THE SAKE OF THE SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF THE PEOPLE WHO OWN THESE VEHICLES, I AM STRONGLY PLEADING THE NHTSA TO RE-INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM MORE CLOSELY ON THE GROUNDS THAT BOTH STATISTICAL AND PHYSICAL ANALYTICAL EVIDENCE INDICATES THAT ALL OF THESE ENGINE CRADLE RUST COMPLAINTS ARE IN FACT RELATED, AND THAT CHRYSLER'S RESPONSE IS LOGICALLY INSUFFICIENT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, LET ALONE TO INSURE PUBLIC SAFETY. *TR

ABS LIGHT CAME ONWHILE TRAVELING IN FLORIDA. CAR MAKES GRINDING SOUND. LIGHT GOES ON AFTER DRIVING AWHILE. DOES NOT BRAKE PROPERLY IF LIGHT COMES ON WHILE COMING TO A STOP. REPLACE ALL BRAKES AND SENSORS AND STILL NO HELP. CHRYSLER KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM AND IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE DYING BEFORE THIS GETS FIXED. THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS AT MUCH LOWER MILEAGES THAN MY CAR. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. RUSTED OUT ENGINE CRADLE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR A OIL CHANGE. THE TECH TOLD ME AND SHOWED ME THE RUSTED OUT ENGINE CRADLE. HE ALSO INFORMED ME NOT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANY WHERE BUT HOME.SINCE THE DEALERSHIP WAS A FEW MILES AWAY I DROVE IT THERE FOR AN INSPECTION. AFTER A DAY WITHOUT A VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP CALLED TO TELL ME IT WOULD COST AROUND $2700.00 OR MORE TO REPLACE THE RUSTED OUT ENGINE CRADLE. NO WHY AM I GOING TO PAY THAT KIND OF MONEY ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 60,000 MILES ON IT.I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE, GAVE THEM ALL THE INFORMATION. THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY OF THIS DUE TO I AM THE 3RD OWNER( WHATEVER THAT HAS TO DO WITH IT!) AND ITS OUT OF WARRANTY! THE SECOND OWNER WAS MY STEP DAD WHO BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE AT THE DEALERSHIPS USED CAR LOT WHERE I TOOK IT TO GET IT INSPECTED. I WAS HAVING MY OIL CHANGED YESTERDAY AND THE TECHNICIAN POINTED OUT A BADLY ROTTED AND CRACKED SUBFRAME ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE SUBFRAME IS ONLY ROTTED AND CRACKED ON ONE SIDE AND IN ONE SPOT WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM A CAR DEALER. I GOT IT FOR A GOOD PRICE AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A LITTLE WORK. MY WIFE WANTED A CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM THE FIRST TIME SHE SAW ONE. SO, FINALLY FINDING ONE WITHIN OUR MEANS WAS AWESOME; SO WE THOUGHT. IT WAS MAKING A WINDING NOISE AT TIME OF PURCHASE, WHICH WAS THOUGHT TO BE A POWER STEERING PUMP. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AFTER PURCHASING IT AND HAD THE PUMP AND SOME OTHER BRAKE WORK; AS-WELL-AS, TIE-ROD ENDS FIXED/REPLACED. THIS DID NOT STOP THE WINDING NOISE WE THOUGHT WAS COMING FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP, SO WE HAD THE SHOP TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT IT. THE SHOP DISCOVERED THAT THE RACK-AND-PINION WAS LEAKING AND LIKELY THE CAUSE FOR THE NOISE. HOWEVER, WHEN THEY ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE RACK AND PINION FROM THE VEHICLE; THEY REALIZED IT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE BECAUSE THE CRADLE/SUB-FRAME WAS SO RUSTED THAT REMOVAL WAS NOT POSSIBLE. SO NEEDLESS TO SAY; THE SHOP OWNER RECOMMENDED THAT WE DETERMINE IF THERE WAS A RE-CALL. THE SHOP OWNER SAID THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE SUB-FRAME OF ANY VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY ON A 2005 MODEL. I HOPED THAT THE SHOP OWNER WAS OVER EXAGGERATING SO I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER LOCAL SHOP AND HE TO, WAS STUNNED BY THE AMOUNT OF RUST. THIS SHOP OWNER TOLD ME TO NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND TO CONTACT THE CHRYSLER CORP. AND DEMAND THAT SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT THIS. HE (THE SHOP OWNER) WAS ABSOLUTELY BESIDE HIMSELF AFTER SEEING THE VEHICLE. I LOVE CHRYSLER PRODUCTS AND EVEN OWN A CARAVAN, WHICH MY WIFE DRIVES DAILY. HOWEVER, I NOW HAVE A DIFFERENT VIEW OF CHRYSLER. THEY HAVE NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR USING UNSAFE MATERIALS FOR MAKING THE 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND I WONDER IF ANYONE HAS DIED FROM THE RESULTS OF THIS ISSUE. WHILE HAVING A FLAT TIRE FIXED ON A LIFT NOTICED MY WHOLE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED OUT FROM DRIVERSIDE TO PASENGER SIDE OF THE UNDERBODY.CHRYSLER HAD A10 YEAR ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND MILE WARRANTY.MY AUTO DID NOT MAKE THEIR CUT OFF PERIOD. ADD THIS TO THE EVER-GROWING STACK OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTING OUT ON PACIFICAS WHICH FALL OUTSIDE THE DATES CHRYSLER SPECIFIED IN THEIR SERVICE BULLETIN. CLEARLY THOSE DATES WERE DATES OF ASSEMBLY, NOT OF FRAME MANUFACTURE, BECAUSE MANY PACIFICAS CONTINUED TO HAVE IMPROPERLY RUSTPROOFED FRAMES PUT IN WELL AFTER THE DATES CHRYSLER IDENTIFIED AS PROBLEMATIC. THIS IS AN ISSUE THEY KNEW ABOUT AND TRIED TO HIDE, AND WHEN THEY WERE DISCOVERED THEY TRIED TO DOWNPLAY THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM. THAT IS CRIMINAL, AS THIS ISSUE IS POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!
