NO INJURY, DEATH OR COLLISION. 2006 PACIFICA ENGINE STALLED WHEN MAKING A DOWNHILL LEFT. JUST PURCHASED 2 WEEKS AGO WITH 13,000 MI. *NM
(1) OWN A 2006 CHRYSLER 2006 PACIFICA AWD AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE VEHICLE STALLING ON THREE SEPARATE OCCURRENCES. THE ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN. FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS IN APRIL WITH APPROXIMATELY 2000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER TWO HAPPENED ON 8/18 AND 8/19 WITH APPROXIMATELY 4000 MILES ON THE CAR. (2) CONSEQUENCE COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT WE MADE IT OUT OF THE WAY. (3) REVIEWED EDMUNDS FORUM AND FOUND THE ISSUE WAS HAPPENING WITH OTHER PACIFICA OWNERS AND NO FIX WAS FOUND. CALLED SUBURBAN CHRYSLER IN FARMINGTON HILLS MICHIGAN AND THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY ISSUES. THEY READ ABOUT IT IN THE PAPER AND HAVE NOT SEEN ANY VEHICLES IN FOR THIS ISSUE. *NM
VEHICLE STALLED IN TRAFFIC, WOULD NOT RE-START. VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO A PARKING LOT. VEHICLE STARTED 1 HOUR LATER AND DRIVEN HOME. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALER - DID NOT WANT TO TAKE A CHANCE STALLING IN TRAFFIC AGAIN. DEALER FOUND A FAULT CODE AND REPAIRED(?) SECURITY SYSTEM. *NM
CAR STALLED WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. WAS ABLE TO RESTART ENGINE RIGHT AWAY. ENGINE WAS WELL WARMED ON A 90F DAY. FOR NOW, I DON'T THINK THERE IS ANYTHING THAT THE DEALER CAN DO. I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I ALSO SAW THAT ACTION RQ06-002 WAS REOPENED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I JUST WANTED TO ADD MYSELF TO THE GROUP. *NM
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AROUND TOWN ON A SHORT TRIP (<10 MI). SHE HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP TO PERFORM A "MICHIGAN" TURN (TURNING LEFT USING SEPARATE TURN-AROUND DRIVES LOCATED IN THE MEDIAN). WHEN SHE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE TO PERFORM THE TURN, THE CAR LUNGED BUT DID NOT MOVE. HER INITIAL REACTION WAS THAT THE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL, BUT FURTHER REVIEW SHOWED THAT THE CAR HAD STALLED (IDENTIFIED BY THE "DUMMY" LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE DASH). SHE PUT THE CAR IN PARK, RESTARTED IT AND PROCEEDED. THIS IS OUR FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH THE "STALLING" PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. GAS TANK WAS GREATER THAN FULL BUT NOT COMPLETELY FULL. VEHICLE MILEAGE: 7788 MILES. VEHICLE HAD PROBABLY NOT REACHED FULL OPERATING TEMPERATURE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE TURNING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH SHE HEARD A POPPING NOISE AROUND THE WHEELS. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER SHE WOULD MAKE A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE TIE RODS WERE REPLACED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. UPDATED 2/01/11*LJ THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE ACCELERATOR WOULD STICK AT TIMES. UPDATED 03/21/11
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE SENSORS. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS USING EXCESSIVE FUEL AT LOW MILEAGES AND SHE SMELLED A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE WIRES IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WERE DAMAGED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $3,000; HOWEVER, THE DEALER COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE PERTAINING TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. WEEKS LATER, THE DRIVER SIDE HEAD LAMP FAILED, REDUCING ALL VISIBILITY. SEVERAL MONTHS LATER, THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE ABNORMALLY AND WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED ANOTHER SENSOR. DAYS LATER, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WOULD BECOME STUCK IN A FIXATED POSITION, BUT THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. LASTLY, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
AFTER DRIVING A NEW 2066 FWD BASIC PACIFICA OFF THE DEALER LOT, I NOTICED A GENERAL PULL TO THE RIGHT EVERY TIME I ACCELERATED. I RETURNED TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND STARTED A PROCESS OF COMPLAINING AND HAVING THE CAR DRIVEN BY CHRYSLER EMPLOYEES. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A TECHNICAL ADVISOR FOR THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE, BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE DOES NOT EVEN FEEL A PULL TO THE RIGHT AND BY A SENIOR CHRYSLER TECHNICIAN THAT PULLING TO THE RIGHT WHEN ACCELERATION IS DUE TO ROAD CROWN SENSITIVITY. I FIND THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WITHOUT KEEPING BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND ALWAYS BEING CONSCIENCE OF WHAT I AM DOING. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A CHARACTERISTIC OF A VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN ON TODAY'S HIGHWAYS AND HOPE THAT FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE THAT THIS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE WILL BE INVESTIGATED. I HAVE ALSO RECENTLY BEEN INFORMED BY FORMER EMPLOYEES THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE WHEN THE CHRYSLER VAN WAS FIRST INTRODUCED. *JB
WHILE MAKING LEFT TURNS INTO TRAFFIC OR LEFT "U-TURNS" THE VEHICLE STALLS PUTTING MY FAMILY IN EXTREME DANGER TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A "5 STAR" CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN GREENSBURG, PA AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY CAN'T FIX IT BECAUSE THERE IS NO ERROR CODE ASSOCIATED WITH IT. THIS CONDITION IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY. *NM
2006 PACIFICA ENGINE STALLED WHILE TAKING A LEFT TURN. COASTED TO A STOP. RESTARTED THE ENGINE WITHOUT INCIDENT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *NM
VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE OR WARNING. *NM
CHRYSLER PACIFICA 2005 ALL WHEEL DRIVE, WHILE TURNING A CORNER AND HITTING A SLIGHT DIP THE CAR CUT COMPLETELY OFF. LOST STEERING AND ALL I COULD DO TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER CAR IN THE SIDE. *JB
2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH 13000 MILES STALLED MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A VERY LOW SPEED. THERE WAS NO WARNING THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO STALL. I WAS TURNING LEFT IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, DRIVING AROUND 10 MILES PER HOUR OR LESS, WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHILE TIGHTENED UP AND MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON (THE MIL MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT COME ON). I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION FEW MINUTES LATER. AN HOUR LATER WHEN MY FAMILY AND I WERE LEAVING TO GO TO ANOTHER STORE, THE SAME SCENARIO; I WAS TURNING LEFT TO ENTER THE PARKING AREA WHEN THE STEERING WHILE TIGHTENED UP AND MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, AND RESTARTED AND DID NOT STALL THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. IT WAS 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND SUNNY, AND I HAD MORE THAN 3/4 OF A TANK OF GAS. VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 9/05. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED WITH 2004, 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEAR PACIFICAS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS ISSUE THAT CONCERNS US, OBVIOUSLY FOR SAFETY REASONS. PLEASE HELP. *JB
MY 2006 PACIFICA 2WD TOURING IS STALLING OUT WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE AND I HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR THREE MONTHS (BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW). THIS LAST TIME I WAS TURNING LEFT INTO A SHOPPING CENTER. AFTER YIELDING TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC I TURNED LEFT AND PROCEEDED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND MY PACIFICA STALLED OUT WITH NO WARNING AGAIN. THIS ALMOST CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IT GIVES NO WARNING AT ALL THAT IT IS ABOUT TO STALL OUT AND THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW IS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND THE CAR STOPS. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE A PERCUSSION NOISE WAS NOTICED COMING FROM THE REAR WINDOWS. THE REAR WINDOWS WERE DOWN AT THE TIME OF THE NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER WHO SUGGESTED ONE OF THE FRONT WINDOWS BE PLACED IN AN OPEN POSITION ALONG WITH REAR TO REDUCE NOISE. THE NOISE IS PRESENT AT ALL TIMES, BUT IS MORE SEVERE AT SPEEDS ABOVE 30 MPH. CONTACT CLAIMED IT WAS A DESIGN DEFECT. UPDATED 06/01/2006. *AK *TS
MY NEW CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS STALLED TWICE WHILE I WAS MAKING A SLOW LEFT HAND TURN. I ONLY HAVE 2000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. MY GAS TANK WAS 3/4 FULL. I USE REGULAR GAS. THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS STAYED ON WHILE THIS OCCURRED. I HOPE THIS CAN BE REPAIRED SINCE I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. I ALMOST HAD A WRECK DURING ONE OF THESE OCCURRENCES. PLEASE HELP BECAUSE AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I UNDERSTAND THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED SINCE THE 2004 MODEL YEAR AND CHRYSLER DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE. *NM
I WAS WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW, AND I PROMPTLY MADE MY LEFT TURN SO AS NOT TO HOLD UP THE CARS ON MY LEFT. I MADE IT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION, AND THE CAR STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND IMMEDIATELY RESTART THE CAR. I HAD THE AC ON, AND HAD THREE FOURTHS OF A TANK OF SUNOCO 89 OCTANE GAS. I ALWAYS RUN 89 OCTANE PER THE OWNERS MANUAL. *JB
CAR DIED AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN. CAR WAS 2 HOURS INTO THE TRIP SO WAS FULLY WARMED. IT STARTED BACK UP IMMEDIATELY AFTER INCIDENT. TWO INSTANCES OF THIS, FIRST WAS AT 8050 MILES, NEXT WAS AT 11800 MILES. (4/12/06, 6/20/06) CAR TAKEN TO DEALER (TEAM CHRYSLER-DODGE-JEEP, MICHIGAN CITY, IN) AFTER SECOND INCIDENT (6/29/06) AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY "TROUBLE CODES" STORED. THEY STATE ON INVOICE, "1803905 FOR PCM REPROGRAMMING. REPROGRAMMED PCM PER TSB 1803905 18190610/.7/FC FM." NO OTHER STALL INCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED. *JB
ENGINE STALLED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITHIN A WEEK WHILE MAKING A SLOW LEFT HAND TURN WITH FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. IT STARTED AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AND HAVEN'T HAD IT HAPPEN IN MORE THAN A MONTH. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE AT THE TIME WAS ~ 11,000. *JB

ON FEBRUARY 8, 2006 AT 20:15 HOURS, THE MONMOUTH COUNTY FIRE MARSHALS OFFICE WAS REQUESTED TO THE SCENE OF A VEHICLE FIRE LOCATED ON WHISTLER DRIVE, FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP. BACKGROUND:THE VEHICLE, A 2006 CHRYSLER (MODEL PACIFICA, COLOR WHITE, 4DR) BEARING NEW JERSEY REGISTRATION #[XXX] (VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION #[XXX] IS OWN BY ELRAC INC. OF 1550 ROUTE 23 NORTH, WAYNE, NEW JERSEY 07470, WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT IN FRONT OF 2-3 WHISTLER DRIVE. INTERVIEW: OPERATOR OF THE VEHICLE STATED AT APPROXIMATELY 19:50 PM THIS DATE HE WENT TO THE VEHICLE AFTER RECEIVING A PHONE CALL FROM HIS WIFE WHO NEEDED A RIDE FROM THE LOCAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE. AT THIS TIME HE ENTERED THE VEHICLE VIA THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, HE THEN STATED THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY OBSERVED SMOKE AND FIRE COMING FROM THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT AND FLOOR BOARD AREA. HE THEN IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, CLOSED THE DOOR AND RETURNED TO HIS RESIDENCE TO CALL 9-1-1. PHYSICAL INSPECTION: THE VEHICLE WAS LOCATED IN A TYPICAL PARKING STALL. THE EXAMINATION OF THE VEHICLE REVEALED HEAVY FIRE DAMAGE TO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. ALL ELECTRICAL WIRES FROM THE DRIVER SEAT INDICATED SIGNS OF EXTENSIVE HEAT DAMAGE. AN INSPECTION OF THE INTERIOR FRONT DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE INDICATED A LOW BURN. THE BURN PATTERN IN THIS AREA MOVED UPWARD AND OUT. DUE TO THE LOCATION OF THIS VEHICLE FIRE IN THE PARKING LOT, MULTIPLE FIRE EXPOSURES OCCURRED. ALL ADDITIONAL VEHICLES THAT RECEIVED FIRE DAMAGE ARE LISTED IN THIS REPORT. CAUSE AND ORIGIN:FROM THE ACCOUNTS OF THE EXAMINATION OF THE VEHICLE, AS WELL AS BURN PATTERNS, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ORIGIN OF THIS FIRE WAS LOCATED AROUND THE INTERIOR DRIVERS SIDE FLOOR. A MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION COULD NOT BE RULED OUT AS A POSSIBLE CAUSE OF THIS FIRE. THIS FIRE HAS BEEN CONSIDERED ACCIDENTAL IN NATURE. 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH 1650 MILES STALLED MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A VERY LOW SPEED. THERE WAS NO WARNING THE VEHICLE WAS ABOUT TO STALL. I HAD JUST COME OFF A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHERE I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50-60 MPH FOR ABOUT 10 MILES. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND SLOWED TO ABOUT 3 MPH, WHEN I LET OFF THE BRAKE TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHILE TIGHTENED UP AND MY DASH LIGHTS CAME ON. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND DID NOT STALL THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP. IT WAS 60 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND SUNNY, AND I HAD MORE THAN 3/4 OF A TANK OF 89 OCTANE GAS. VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED 9/05. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED WITH 2004 AND 2005 MODEL YEAR PACIFICAS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT OBVIOUSLY CHRYSLER HASN'T RESOLVED. *NM
INCIDENT #1: 3 DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THAT MY ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED (THE VEHICLE HAD 30 MILES ON IT WHEN I BOUGHT IT). I WAS TOLD ALL THE ROTORS WERE WARPED. INCIDENT #2: APPROXIMATELY 4 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING, MY LEFT HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. NOT A MAJOR PROBLEM, BUT STILL AN INCONVENIENCE...ESPECIALLY WHEN CAR IS BRAND NEW. INCIDENT #3: I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN OUT OF THE PARKING LOT WHEN VEHICLE STALLED ON ME. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND I GLIDED ACROSS 2 LANES OF THE ROAD (AMAZINGLY WITHOUT HURTING MYSELF OR OTHERS). NO WARNING AT ALL. VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP JUST FIND...BUT VERY SCARY. TOOK IT INTO THE SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT MY COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE "FLASHED" INCIDENT #4: ABS LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE AND I FELT A "FLUTTERING" OF THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE. I WAS TOLD THE SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THEY WERE. INCIDENT #5: RECEIVED MY VEHICLE BACK FROM REPAIR ON INCIDENT #4 ON TUESDAY, VEHICLE IS BACK IN THE SHOP TODAY (2 DAYS LATER). FLUTTERING FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN. UNSURE WHAT THE OUTCOME IS...STILL IN SERVICE. FORTUNATELY, NONE OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE CAUSED ME, MY FAMILY, OR OTHERS ANY INJURY OR HARM BUT EACH OF THESE INCIDENTS (BESIDES THE HEADLIGHT) COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURIES OR RESULTED IN DEATHS. *NM
2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA - STALLS WHEN PERFORMING SLOW TURNS AND LOW SPEEDS. ALMOST CAUSED A SEVERE ACCIDENT IN TRAFFIC. *JB
I BROUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2005 TWO WEEKS AFTER WE BROUGHT IT IT STALLED OUT WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY WERE SUPPOSE TO FIX IT. IT IS STILL OCCURRING AND IT IS NOW 2007 THIS IS MY 3RD TIME TAKING IT IN AND ALSO MY RADIO DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE AND THE BATTERY DIES AFTER 15 MINUTES OF LEAVING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS "NORMAL" FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ON PACIFICA. I WAS IRATE. NOW IM IN THE PROCESS OF THE DEALERSHIP BUYING IT BACK AND IM ALSO LOOKING INTO THE LEMON LAW. *TR
