TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VALVE TRAIN ASSEMBLY IN THE ENGINE MADE A CLICKING NOISE AND THE PINS IN THE ROCKER ARMS FAILED. THE NOISE HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE 2008. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE COULD EVENTUALLY FAIL AND FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
THE ABS LIGHT HAS BEEN FLICKERING ON AND OFF. RECENTLY, THE ABS "TRACTION" KICKED IN WHILE THE MRS. WAS AT A LOW RATE OF SPEED (LUCKILY) WITHOUT CAUSING A COLLISION. IN READING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET IT APPEARS THAT THERE ARE OTHERS WHO HAVE CITED A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE ABS MODULE FOR THE 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICAS. *TR
OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM WITH 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. MY 2006 PACIFICA HAS 38000 MILES ON IT AND I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH OIL CONSUMPTION. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT CHRYSLER CORPORATION BELIEVES IT IS 'ACCEPTABLE' THAT A CAR WITH UNDER 50,000 MILES BURNS APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF OIL PER 1000 MILES! THIS IS ABSURD IF YOU ASK ME! HOW CAN THIS BE ACCEPTABLE ? ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THAT I'VE READ FROM OTHER BLOGS IS THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT FEEL THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT WARRANTS FURTHER INVESTIGATION AND MANY TIMES, THE UNDERLYING ISSUE FOR THE POOR OIL CONSUMPTION IS NOT FOUND UNTIL A MAJOR PROBLEM OCCURS WITH THE ENGINE, AND THE CAR'S WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED, LEAVING THE CONSUMER TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES! THIS IS NOT ONLY BAD BUSINESS BUT HAS TO BE BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, IF A CAR IS 'BURNING' OIL THAT FAST, WHERE IS IT GOING? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE ENGINE STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY. THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. ON A SEPARATE OCCASSION, WHEN THE ENGINE RESTARTED, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE AND FUMES COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON A SEPARATE OCCASION FOR THE SAME FAILURES, BUT THERE WAS NO RESOLUTION. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA USING OVER A QUART OF OIL PER WEEK, THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SAME COMPLAINT ALL OVER THE INTERNET WITH THE SAME RESPONSE THAT I HAVE RECEIVED FROM CHRYSLER DEALERS. "1 QUART PER WEEK OR 1 THOUSAND MILES IS A PERFECTLY NORMAL OIL BURN OFF RATE" THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND FINANCIAL ISSUE ESPECIALLY INVOLVING A CAR THIS NEW AND IT STARTED AT 37,000 MILES. THE CAR IS NOT LEAKING OIL, IT JUST DISAPPEARS AND FROM OTHER STORIES I HAVE READ IT SAYS THAT THE PISTON RINGS DO NOT FIT THE ENGINE CYLINDERS. CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG BUT COULDN'T THIS PROBLEM CAUSE ENGINE FAILURE OR FIRE. NOT TO MENTION LEAVE A PERSON STRANDED AFTER THE ENGINE BLOWS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN MAY 2007 W/ 20,134 MILES ON IT. IT STARTED A TAPPING NOISE AT THE BEGINNING OF AUG 2008 (APPRX 40,840 MILES) AND WENT INTO THE SHOP ON 08/04/08. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME ON 08/08/08 TO P/U MY VEHICLE AND REPORTED THAT THE NOISE WAS DUE TO MY USING NON-MOPAR OIL AND FILTER (THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND FILTER THAT DAY). THE CAR WAS STILL MAKING THE NOISE WHEN I STARTED IT BUT THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT "WELL IT SOUNDS BETTER THAN IT DID, YOU JUST NEED TO DRIVE IT FOR A FEW DAYS". I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND DROVE IT THE 35 MILES HOME. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME THE NOISE WAS WORSE THAN EVER. MY HUSBAND HAULED THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 08/11/08 (ALL TOW DRIVERS PICKED BY ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WANTED AT LEAST $100 OVER THE $100 DAIMLER WARRANTY PAYS). THE CAR SAT THERE FOR A WEEK AND WHEN I TRIED TO P/U A RENTAL CAR 08/15/08, THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT MY CAR WAS DRIVABLE EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD JUST ORDERED NEW LIFTERS. HE ALSO TOLD THIS TO DAIMLER SO THEY WOULD ONLY PAY FOR 5 DAYS RENTAL WHICH OF COURSE DID NOT COVER THE FULL TIME THEY TOOK TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS ON 08/22/08. THE NOISE WAS GONE WHEN I GOT IT THAT DAY. ON 09/06/08 THE NOISE STARTED AGAIN AND IS NOW IN THE SHOP (A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP THIS TIME) FOR THE 3RD TIME IN A MONTH FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
WE BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (IN JUNE OF 2006) AND, WITH ONLY, 29,000 MILES, IT ALREADY HAS AN INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE AND THE AIR CONDITIONING HAS BROKEN DOWN (POSSIBLY A COMPUTER CHIP ERROR). CHRYSLER REFUSES TO ACCEPT THE WARRANTY CLAIM AND IS TRYING TO GET US TO PAY FOR IT ALL. THE TOTAL CHARGES ARE NOW OVER $2,000. *TR
MY CHRYSLER PACIFICA 06 HAS A LIFTER PROBLEM AND HAVE HEARD OF OTHER PACIFICA'S WITH THE SAME ISSUE. BELIEVE A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED ON THIS AND CHRYSLER IS REFUSING. *TR
FAILURE OF CV JOINT RESULTING IN A RIGHT FRONT BROKEN AXLE. THE VEHICLE HAD JUST BEEN TO THE DEALER AND HAD A 30,000 MILE SERVICE WHICH SUPINCLUDED INSPECTION OF CV JOINTS. THE ACTUAL MILEAGE WAS JUST UNDER 30,000 AT THE TIME, WHICH SEEM EARLY FOR SUCH A SERIOUS PROBLEM. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES NOW SINCE I GO IT A YEAR AGO. THE FIRST TWO TIMES WERE FOR THE SAME THING. IT WAS A ROD AND LIFTERS. THIS LAST TIME, I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY WHEELS TURNED TO THE SIDE AND THEN MY CAR SKIDDED TO A STOP AS MY TIRES TURNED SIDEWAYS.! I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED AS MY CAR WAS NOT CONTROLLABLE AND ALMOST FLIPPED OVER. I WAS TOLD BY THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER THAT THE ROCKER ARM BROKE CAUSING THE DRIVE SHAFT TO FALL THEN THE AXEL BROKE. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER AS WELL AS THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
ABS SYSTEM WILL ENGAGE FOR NO REASON AT LOW SPEED AND LIGHT BRAKING. ABS WARNING SYSTEM LIGHT WILL COME ON WITHOUT A REASON. ABS SENSORS REPLACE APPROXIMATELY 4 TIMES. HAVE REPLACED A SENSOR AND THE ABS LIGHT CAME BACK ON WITHIN TWO MILES OF DEALERSHIP. VARIOUS DEALERS CAN'T SEEM TO CORRECT PROBLEM, CAR NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY, CHRYSLER OFFERED TO DO A COMPLETE ELECTRICAL DIAGNOSIS AT MY EXPENSE AND DEPENDING ON WHAT THEY FIND THEY MIGHT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. PROBLEM SEEMS TO RELATED TO OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE, LIGHT WILL COME ON, ON A WARM DAY, OFF IN MORNING AND OFF ALL WINTER. *TR
LIFTER FAILURE STARTING AT LOW MILEAGE. *TR
MY WIFE AND I HAD OUR 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA SHIPPED FROM CHARLESTON, SC TO HONOLULU, HI. WE NOTICED A GASOLINE SMELL AFTER WE RECEIVED THE CAR. THE SHIPPING COMPANY SAID IT WAS NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN AND THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE DODGE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE FUEL TANK HAD IMPACT DAMAGE AND WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK FOR $1096. THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY TO ME. REGARDLESS, AFTER READING THAT THE INVESTIGATION WAS NO LONGER IN EFFECT I WAS DISHEARTEN. WE CAN NOT DRIVE THE CAR IN THE CONDITION IT IS IN. I WOULDN'T ALLOW MY WIFE OR CHILD TO GET INTO A CAR WITH A GAS LEAK. I HOPE THIS HELPS REOPEN OR CONTINUE THE INVESTIGATION. *TR
I WAS IN A REARENDED IN A COLLISION THAT THE DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS DRIVING 50-55MPH AND DID NOT SEE I WAS STOPPED FOR A LIGHT. MY BACK WAS INJURED(HERNIATED DISCS AND LEG SWELLING AND BRUISING) BECAUSE MY AIRBAG DID NOT GO OFF AND MY DRIVERS SEAT BROKE SENDING ME BACK A WAYS IN THE 2007 PACIFICA. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS CONSTANTLY STICKING. THE FAILURE ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A COMPLETE STOP AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT MUST APPLY MAXIMUM PRESSURE ON THE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO MOVE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF VERY QUICKLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS CARBON BUILD UP ON THE INSIDE OF THE THROTTLE AND SUGGESTED THAT IT BE CLEANED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE DRIVER SEAT PUSHED THE CONTACT AGAINST THE STEERING WHEEL. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE PRESENT. HE PULLED OFF THE ROAD AND APPROXIMATELY TEN MINUTES LATER, HE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE SEAT INTO ITS ORIGINAL POSITION. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,893 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,800. THE 6-WAY POWERED SEAT ACTUATED TO THE FULL FORWARD POSITION. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE SEAT BY USING THE SWITCHES. 2006 PACIFICA I HAVE HAD 10-12 INSTANCES WHERE MY VEHICLE HAS STALLED DURING A LEFT HAND TURN. INITIALLY THEY WERE FAR ENOUGH APART THAT IT DIDN'T SEEM THAT BAD AND THEY APPEARED TO ONLY HAPPEN AT SLOW PARKING LOT SPEEDS. MY MOST RECENT 2 EVENTS WERE MUCH WORSE: ONE HAPPENED WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR DRIVING ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD AND HAD TO DO A HARD "HAIRPIN" LEFT TURN THAT ALMOST RESULTED IN OUR DRIVING OFF THE FACE OF THE MOUNTAIN!!! LATEST EVENT OCCURRED WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH TRAFFIC ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY. THE VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN STALLED DURING THE LEFT TURN AT ABOUT 40 MPH WHILE CROSSING TRAFFIC. I NARROWLY AVOIDED BEING HIT AND ALMOST HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE HEAD ON DUE TO THE FAILURE. PLEASE HELP US.. THIS IS UNREAL! *TR
AFTER STARTING MY 2006 PACIFICA IT WILL STALL AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS. THE DEALER SAID MY IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR NEEDS REPLACING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A LOT OF ADDITIONAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME PART. I THINK SOME OTHER VEHICLES WERE 2004 BUT IT WAS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AND THE EXACT SAME RECOMMENDED FIX. *TR
WE PURCHASED OUR 2006 PACIFICA, CERTIFIED USED, IN MAY '07 WITH LESS THAN 21K MILES. WITHIN A FEW WEEKS THE CAR STARTED STALLING - FREQUENTLY. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY. AS I APPROACHED THE BOTTOM OF THE RAMP, MY CAR STALLED AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I ENDED UP IN THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC LANES (IT WAS EARLY; THERE WERE NO CARS AT THE TIME). THE SUBSEQUENT STALLINGS WOULD OCCUR ANYTIME I WAS MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT TURN OR JUST COMING TO A STOP (AT ABOUT 3-7MPH). THE CAR HAS BEEN IN 7 TIMES FOR REPAIR (TOTALING MORE THAN 30 DAYS, AND HAS INCURRED OVER 300 MILES OF TESTING). WE HAVE HAD THE IDLE UNDERSHOOT REPROGRAMMED, 2 FUEL PUMPS REPLACED, PCM REPROGRAMMED, A NEW PCM, ONCE WAS TOLD IT WAS JUST "OUT OF GAS" - EVEN THOUGH IT SAID I HAD 30 MILES TO GO AND FUEL LIGHT WASN?T ON - THEY PUT A COUPLE OF GALLONS IN MY TANK, ENOUGH TO GET ME TO A GAS STATION (NOW I HAD 60 MILES TO GO) AND CAR STALLED AGAIN AFTER FILLING TANK. IT'S NOW BACK WITH THE DEALER (6 DAYS NOW), AFTER HAVING BEEN TOWED IN WE COULDN'T EVEN BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WITHOUT IT STALLING. IT IS CURRENTLY BEING LOOKED AT WITH THE HELP OF CHRYSLER, BUT WERE TOLD THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM (EVEN THOUGH WE WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT WITH THEIR MECHANIC IN THE CAR A FEW DAYS AGO). FRUSTRATING AND DISTURBING. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AND JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE HAS AN ACCIDENT. HOW MANY CARS CAN WE CONTINUE TO AVOID HITTING? *TR
I HAVE LOGGED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE NOT REMEDIED THIS PROBLEM. THE SEVERITY INCREASED YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING. WHEN SLOWLY STOPPING THE VEHICLE THE FRONT END VIBRATED HAS A DISTINCT INTERMITTENT RUBBING SOUND AND BRAKES PULSATED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES , AND REQUESTED A FACTORY REPRESENTATIVE TO EVALUATE FRONT END ALIGNMENT. NO CHANGE. THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH BRAKING SYSTEM, AND CHRYSLER WAS NOT HELPFUL. *AK
FRONT END HAD A KNOCKING SOUNDS, BROUGHT HE VEH TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE TIE ROD ENDS WERE "LOOSE" THEY TIGHTENED THEM AND THEN TOLD ME I NEEDED TO PURCHASE 4 NEW TIRES, BECAUSE THE TWO FRONT ONES WERE RUINED BY THE ALIGNMENT BEING OFF DUE TO THE TIE ROD ENDS. THIS IS A VEH WITH APPROX 27,000 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. IF THE TIE ROD ENDS ARE COMING LOOSE AFTER 27,000 MILES WHAT ELSE WILL FALL OFF THE VEHICLE??? *TR
I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA THAT THE GAS PEDAL STICKS. I HAVE TO STOMP ON IT TO GET IT LOOSE WHICH MAKES IT EXCEL AT A UNSAFE SPEED WHEN PULLING OUT. *TR
PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF, WHILE A PASSENGER SITS IN THE SEAT. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, THERE'S A CHIME THAT HAPPENS PERIODICALLY AS WELL. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES, THEY SAY THEY CANT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE LIGHT WILL STAY ON SOMETIMES AS LONG AS 5 MINS. IT STARTED HAPPENING 3 MONTHS AFTER WE BOUGHT THE CAR. *TR
THE CAR SINCE ALMOST NEW HAS HAD AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING LOCKING UP HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES TURNING SLOWLY AND HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES AT SPEEDS TO 40 MPH AND THE ONLY WAY TO TURN IT IS TO SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED BY OTHER OWNERS. THANKS.
2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA - THROTTLE STICKS FOR FIRST 1/4" OF TRAVEL. THIS CAUSES RAPID ACCELERATION IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. THIS OCCURS MORE OFTEN IN WARM OR HOT WEATHER. CHRYSLER HAS NOT REPAIRED ISSUE. MECHANICS HAVE NOT BEEN "ABLE TO REPRODUCE EVENTS". *TR

MY VEHICLE HAS BACK-UP LIGHTS THAT DO NOT PROVIDE ANY ILLUMINATION WHAT-SO-EVER. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENTS AS OF YET BUT SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. YOU CANNOT TELL IF SOMEONE OR SOMETHING IS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE VEHICLE WHILE IN REVERSE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MAKES A NOISE WHEN TURNING. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED AND THEY STATED THAT THE TIE ROD WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE AND COULD NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE, CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. GAVE A LITTLE GAS AND HEARD A LOUD POP. FOUND 3-4" PIECE OF TEMPERED METAL ON GROUND. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE CAR, REALIZED THAT THE ROCKER ARM ON REAR DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL HAD BROKEN IN 2 PLACES.
I BOUGHT MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA DURING THE MONTH OF MARCH 2007. AFTER 3 DAYS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. AT THIS TIME, MY VEHICLE HAD ONLY 18,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I WOULD HIT MY BRAKES THE ABS LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND IT FELT AS IF MY BRAKES WERE ACTUALLY BUMPING UNDER MY FOOT. THE BUMPING WAS ALSO COINCIDED WITH A HORRIBLE GRINDING SOUND. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TO NEW TO HAVE BRAKE PROBLEMS AND THAT THE ABS LIGHT WAS MOST LIKELY A DUMMY LIGHT. AS TO DATE, AUGUST 13, 2008, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS PARTICULAR YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE CONCERNING THE BRAKES AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. DOES THERE HAVE TO BE A FATALITY TO GET ANYONE TO NOTICE? *TR

THROTTLE HAS BEEN STICKING FOR SEVEN YEARS. THE DEALER HAS SPRAYED THE THROTTLE BODY SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE YEARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER FIX IS ONLY TEMPORARY. *TR
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ON JANUARY 26, 2007. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT OBSERVED THE TIRE PRESSURE AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THEY NEEDED TO BE RESET, AND TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS TO THE DEALER, AND WHEN THE DEALER DROVE THE VEHICLE LESS THAN 100 FEET, THE SIDE/CURTAIN AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT NO LONGER WANTED THE VEHICLE. HE SPOKE WITH THE REGIONAL OFFICE , WHICH INDICATED THAT AN ENGINEER MAY INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE DISPLAY ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD SPORADICALLY FAIL. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL WITHOUT WARNING. ON ONE OCCASION, THE PISTON ROD FAILED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL WHILE IDLING. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, AND COMPUTER (ICM). SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIRS, THE FAILURE RESURFACED. ALL OF THE REMEDIES HAVE BEEN INSUFFICIENT IN CORRECTING THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,922 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,999.
REAR (BACKUP) SENSOR INTERMITTENTLY INOPERATIVE (LED TO NON-INJURY CRASH); DEFAULT FACTORY SETTINGS ERROR. LEFT HOME YESTERDAY EVENING, BACKUP SENSOR WAS WORKING (ALERTED DRIVER TO TRUCK IN DRIVE AND TREE NEAR DRIVEWAY). DROVE TO DESTINATION (<2 M.) AND PARKED VEHICLE ON STREET. LEFT DESTINATION ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER, BOUND FOR ANOTHER RESIDENCE TO PICK UP OUR DAUGHTER (.5 M). IT WAS A VERY DARK AND RAINY NIGHT, NO STREET LIGHTS. DROVE INTO RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, THEN BACKED OUT OF DRIVEWAY. UPON BACKING ONTO STREET, REAR BUMPER OF PACIFICA HIT FRONT BUMPER OF SMALL, DARK BLUE, LINCOLN SEDAN PARKED ON STREET. THE BACKUP SENSOR DID NOT WORK AT ALL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AND ONLY MINOR DAMAGE (ALTHOUGH NEEDLESS) TO THE BUMPERS. HOWEVER, THIS IS POTENTIALLY A VERY DANGEROUS EQUIPMENT FAILURE. WE CHECKED THE CONTROL MENUS. *FACTORY SETTINGS* WAS *OFF*, AND, WITHIN THESE SETTINGS, *PARK ASSIST SYSTEM* WAS *OFF*. WE (MY HUSBAND OR I) HAD NOT CHANGED THE SETTINGS, AND, AS MENTIONED, THE SENSOR HAD WORKED EARLIER THAT EVENING. THE SAME IGNITION KEY WAS USED FOR ALL DRIVING THAT EVENING. WE CHECKED THE SETTINGS BECAUSE OF A SIMILAR INCIDENT TWO WEEKS EARLIER (SEE BELOW). TWO WEEKS AGO, AFTER A SHORT DRIVE FROM HOME (<3 M.), WE NOTICED THE BACKUP SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING WHEN WE WERE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, ALTHOUGH IT HAD BEEN WORKING EARLIER IN THE DAY. AS IN THE LATER INCIDENT, THE *FACTORY SETTINGS* SETTING WAS *OFF*, AND, WITHIN THESE SETTINGS, *PARK ASSIST SYSTEM* WAS *OFF*. WE (MY HUSBAND OR I) HAD NOT CHANGED THE SETTINGS. WE WERE BEFUDDLED AS TO THE REASON THIS HAPPENED. WE SET THE *FACTORY SETTINGS* BACK TO *ON*, AND CONFIRMED THAT THIS RESET THE *PARK ASSIST SYSTEM* TO *ON*. THE REAR SENSOR THEN SEEMED TO BE WORKING OKAY, UNTIL THE RECURRENCE OF THE PROBLEM LAST NIGHT. I WILL TALK TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM TOMORROW (CLOSED TODAY), SO I HAVE NO INFO ON MFG ACTIONS TO CORRECT THIS FAILURE. *NM
ON JANUARY 1, 2007, I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD TRAVELING AT A RATE OF ABOUT 25 MPH. AS I TAPPED THE BRAKES LIGHTLY TO SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATED RAPIDLY AND NOTICED THE ABS LIGHT TURN ON. I DID NOT BEAR DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL SO I DO NOT KNOW WHY THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED. THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY. ON JANUARY 4, 2007, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT LUNCHTIME AND THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGED WITHOUT HER EVEN TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE BRAKES MADE A SQUEALING NOISE AT THE TIME. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE ABS LIGHT IS BACK ON. *NM
TL* - THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL LETTER (F44). THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE PART WILL AVAILABLE. THE DEALER DID NOT SCHEDULE A REPAIR NOR TAKE HER NAME AND NUMBER TO INFORM HER WHEN PARTS WILL AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT FAILED TO FUNCTION, THE SERVICE ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND THERE WAS AN INTERNAL LEAK EMITTING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS NOT REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE THE RECOMMENDED REPAIR SOLUTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.
MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA HAS SEVERE CASE OF "WIND BUFFERING NOISE". ANY TIME YOU ROLL A REAR WINDOW DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED IT SOUNDS AS IF THERE IS A HELICOPTER LANDING ON THE BACK SEAT. I NOTIFIED MY DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY SAY THERE ISN'T MUCH THEY CAN DO. IT IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IF YOU ACCIDENTALLY ROLL THE WINDOW DOWN. THERE IS 3200 MILES ON THE CAR AND THE DEALER PRETTY MUCH SAID OH WELL! *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE BEGAN EMITTING STEAM FROM UNDER THE FRONT HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR, THE CONTACT RECEIVES AN ELECTRICAL SHOCK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE POWER LOCKS AND DOORS FAIL TO OPERATE, BUT THE VEHICLE IS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. THE ELECTRICAL MODULE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. THERE ARE NO RECALLS REGARDING THIS FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,699 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 680.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK ON AN INCLINE, SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE TO UNLOAD IT. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SWITCHED GEARS ON ITS OWN INTO REVERSE CAUSING THE DRIVER'S FRONT DOOR TO HIT THE CONTACT. THIS INCIDENT RESULTED IN A FRACTURED SHOULDER TO THE CONTACT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE ENGINE SURGED. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 7,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,544.
WHILE MAKING A SLOW LEFT-HAND TURN INTO A SHOPPING CENTER, MY 2006 PACIFICA TOURING AWD STALLED WITHOUT A WARNING OF ANY KIND. I WAS NOT ABLE TO STEER (NO POWER STEERING). I HAD TO COAST OUT OF THE LANE TO THE CURB. I WAS THEN ABLE TO RESTART IT WITHOUT AN INCIDENT. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN ON THE MAIN ROAD. MY PACIFICA WAS BOUGHT NEW IN FEBRUARY '06 AND HAS APPROX 9300 MILES. I HAD ABOUT 3/4 TANK OF GAS AT THE TIME. THERE HAVE BEEN ZERO PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR UNTIL NOW. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW, BUT I FEAR THAT THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO 'DUPLICATE' THE PROBLEM. *NM
AFTER I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FINE FOR A WHILE, I WILL TURN (INTO A PARKING LOT ETC.) AND NEED TO TURN AGAIN AND THE CAR WILL DIE. *JB
TWICE, IN 6 DAYS, THE PACIFICA HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST TIME MY WIFE WAS DRIVING 25-30 MPH AND WAS TURNING ON THE RADIO, AND THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH AND TURNING ON THE HEAT. BOTH TIMES THE ENGINE COMPLETED CUT OFF AND LEFT US WITH NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY FAMILY. THE DEALER HAD THE CAR AND STATED THERE WAS NO FOUND PROBLEM. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED THE DEALER TOOK THE CAR AND AGAIN CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THEY STILL HAVE THE CAR AND NO SOLUTION. *NM
BOTH DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHTS TURN ON FOR EXTENDED PERIODS WHILE CAR IS OPERATION (FREQUENTLY RECURRING ISSUE), SHOWING THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE "TURNED OFF." TOOK BACK TO DEALER (BAKER CHRYSLER) IN PRINCETON AND THEY BASICALLY BRUSHED ME OFF AND SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. DRIVERS MANUAL STATES TO REPORT INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY. *JB

WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN, VEHICLE SHUTS OFF (STALLS). VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY WARMED UP AND HAD BEEN DRIVEN ABOUT 20 MILES AT THE TIME OF STALL. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS VEHICLE HAS STALLED IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. FIRST TIME VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT THE LOCATION PURCHASED AND UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. THIS TIME ANOTHER CALL WAS MADE TO DEALER AND AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE LOOKED AT AGAIN, BUT WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT NOT ON, DEALER IS SURE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WILL SHOW NOTHING. PHONE CALL TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE PRODUCED NO RESULTS. CSR INDICATED THAT DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS NOT AWARE OF A STALLING ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. *NM
