THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP FOR A REPAIR ON A FUEL INJECTOR AND THROTTLE BODY. WHILE DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SUB FRAME IS RUSTED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED/REPAIRED. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR WOULD BE $2495. WE WERE TOLD THAT THIS HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL.
UPDATE ON EARLIER REPORT. HAD AN INDEPENDENT SEVICE STATION CHECK CONDITION OF RUSTING ENGINE CRADLE ON 7/21/15. MECHANIC REPORTED THAT THE ROT DAMAGE IS A SAFETY ISSUE, CAR SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. REAR ENGINE CRADLE CROSS MEMBER RUSTING OUT OVER THE YEARS DRIVEN, UNKNOWN TO ME. ALSO BROUGHT CAR TO CHRYSLER SEVICE STATION FOR THEIR MECHANIC'S INSPECTION ON 7/ 27/15. REPORTED THAT THE CRADLE WAS VERY RUSTY. LARGE RUSTED OUT HOLES IN THE STUCTURE ARE VERY EASY TO SEE. I WAS TOLD THE CAR WAS O.K. TO DRIVE TODAY AND THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL THROUGH AT ANY TIME LATER. NOT A SAFETY ISSUE ? WAS ALSO TOLD I COULD KEEP COMMING BACK REPETEDLY AT 52$ A POP TO HAVE THEM CHECK ON THE PROGRESSION OF THE ROT. QUOTED $2800 FOR REPAIR, CAR NOT WORTH THE COST, NOR CAN I AFFORD THE COST. I WAS RUSHED OUT OF THE SEVICE AREA AFTER BEING HANDED THE BILL. NO TALK ABOUT HOW THE CRADLE WAS MANUFACTURED POORLY, ONLY THAT I COULD SPRAY SOME TYPE OF RUST INHIBITOR ON THE EFFECTED AREAS. CHRYSLER HAS HAD MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN AND WIFE SITTING IN A CAR THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THEM SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THE FAULTY PRODUCT AND CONTINUED TO PRODUCE MORE. I DEPENDED ON THIS CAR EVERYDAY , I WAS HAPPY WITH IT UNTILL NOW. I WAS HAPPY WITH CHRYSLER INTILL NOW, THEY NEED TO STEP-UP AND FIX WHAT THEY KNOW WAS NOT SAFE TO START WITH. MY CAR NOW SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY UNTILL I CAN TAKE FURTHER ACTION.
WAS PULLING OUT TO CROSS A STREET AND CAR CUT OFF. I WAS CROSSING TRAFFIC AND STOPPED TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE TWICE. ONLY THE 2ND TIME DID I ALMOST GET HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. CURRENTLY CAR IS AT A CHRYSLER DEALER. THE PROBLEM IS I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
SEVERELY RUSTED SUB FRAME UNDER THE ENGINE. ADVISED BY REPAIR FACILITY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE RUST DAMAGE TO THE SUB FRAME. THIS WAS A HIDDEN DEFECT THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD KNOWLEDGE OF IF I HAD NOT PURCHASED A SAFETY INSPECTION. BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE THE VEHICLE FAILED A MD SAFETY INSPECTION. ADVISED THAT REQUIRED REPAIRS WILL BE OVER $2500.
ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED THROUGH LOWER SECTION ON EACH END. NOTICED AT ONSET OF OIL CHANGE.
UNUSUAL HIGH AMOUNT OF RUST AND HOLES IN A FRAME FAILING NYS INSPECTION. AUTO IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD.
ABOUT 3 WEEKS I LET MY COUSIN USE CAR. SHE MADE IT TO INDY TWICE FROM FORT WAYNE, AND ONCE BACK HOME BEFORE I CAME TO GET CAR SHE STATED SHE HAD SET ALARM OFF AND THEN CAR WOULDN'T START. I HAD IT TOWED AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY BUT THOUGHT FUEL PUMP. CAR TURNS OVER PERFECT JUST WON'T FIRE. SO FUEL PUMP REPLACE AND ABOUT WEEK AND A HALF LATER IT'S STARTS TO NOT START UP ON FIRST IGNITE. SOMETIMES IT TAKES ME TWO-THREE TRIES THEN IT STARTS. ALSO SOMETHING WEIRD 2 TIMES WHILE PUMPING GAS AND LEAVING CAR ON, THE CAR SHUTS OFF AS SOON AS GAS STARTS FILLING. TODAY FOR THE 3RD TIME I STARTED PUMPING GAS AND MY CAR SHUT OFF BUT THIS TIME WOULDN'T START. IT ONCE AGAIN TURNS OVER BUT WON'T START. I HAD IT TOWED AGAIN!!!! ANY SUGGESTIONS? COULD 2006 CARS NEED RESET TO ON COMPUTER

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC, WHO INSPECTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS ROTTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THE ENGINE WAS ROTTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FUEL PUMP MODULE AND/OR REPROGRAM PCM RECALL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBLEM OCCURRED LONG BEFORE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. ONE DAY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THEN THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED DROPPING IMMEDIATELY FROM HALF-FULL TO EMPTY. THE VEHICLE SAT AT THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS, WHILE THEY TRIED TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE SOLD THE VEHICLE. *JB UPDATED 11/20/15*LJ UPDATED 9/17/2017*CN
SO ONCE AGAIN THIS CAR IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA (86616) AND ONE DAY WHEN DRIVING MY CAR JUST STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT START FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I TOOK IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP HERE IN BAYTOWN AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PLASTIC EVAP LINE MAY HAVE BROKEN DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW OF THE LINE BEING NOT ONLY TOO SHORT BUT ALSO MADE OF A HARDEN PLASTIC THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE RUBBER INSTEAD. I WAS LUCK ENOUGH TO BE BY MYSELF BUT IF I HAD MY GOD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH ME IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORST OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. NOW CHRYSLER WANTS CLOSE TO $800 TO FIX THE ISSUE WHEN IN FACT THIS WAS A DESIGN FLAW TO BEGIN WITH FROM THE START. I AM HIGHLY UPSET AND ALSO SCARED TO DRIVE ANY CHRYSLER CAR BECAUSE OF THE PISS POOR DESIGN AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT AND IF CHRYSLER WILL EVEN DO ANYTHING TO HELP ME AND MY MOM OUT.
I HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS TELL ME THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THROUGH TO THE POINT OF BEING A SAFETY CONCERN. I'M THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA AWD LIMITED EDITION AND THE CAR DOESN'T HAVE ANY RUST ON IT, AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH 165,000 MILES ON IT, EXCEPT FOR THE ENGINE CRADLE WHICH HAS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH ON BOTH SIDES. THE DEALERSHIPS BOTH QUOTED OVER $3,000 FOR THE REPAIR. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER HEAD QUARTERS AND WAS TOLD A LIMITED RECALL OF SOME 2004-2005 PACIFICA'S WAS ISSUED, BUT NOTHING COULD BE DONE FOR MY 2006. SEARCHING THE INTERNET I FIND COMPLAINTS FROM THOUSANDS OF PACIFICA OWNERS WITH MODELS RANGING FROM 2004-2008 ALL WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. GIVEN THE ENGINE COULD DROP OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT ANY MOMENT ON THOUSANDS OF VEHICLES I FIND IT IRRESPONSIBLE THE NHTSA HAS NOT FORCED CHRYSLER TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. THANKFULLY THIS COUNTRY HAS LAWYERS WHO CAN ACT WHEN GOVERNMENT FAILS TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE AND A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT HAS BEEN FILED IN OHIO BY CLARK, PERDUE, AND LIST LPA.
DISCOVERED EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE SUBFRAME AND UNDERBODY MEMBERS AFTER TRYING TO DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. SPECIFICALLY, A "CLICKING" NOISE HAD APPEARED UNEXPECTEDLY DURING TURNING AND THE STEERING WHEEL HAD UNDUE RESISTANCE WHILE TURNING. AFTER CHECKING FOR TIRE PROBLEMS AND OTHER ISSUES, A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A SUBFRAME FAILURE DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. HE MENTIONED THAT IF THE RUST PROGRESSED TOO FAR, THE ENGINE COULD LITERALLY FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS ISSUE DEMANDS A RECALL. UPDATED 09/15/15*LJ UPDATED 12/12/2017*CN
MY SUB-FRAME IS RUSTING OUT ON MY CAR. I SEE THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT REGARDING THIS HAZARDOUS CONDITION. BY DOING RESEARCH, I UNDERSTAND THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE CAN FALL OUT. I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING.
FRAME AT MOTOR MOUNTS HAS SIGNIFICANT RUST. REST OF CAR IS VERY GOOD SHAPE WITH NO RUST. THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS MORE DAMAGE THAN PASSENGER BUT BOTH SIDE HAVE A GOOD REAL OF RUST IN THE ENGINE CRADLE AREA

THE VEHICLE LOST FUEL PRESSURE AND THE VIPER FUEL TANK RELEASED FUEL UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINE FRACTURED AND THE PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
MECHANIC INSPECTING VEHICLE FOR ANOTHER ISSUE NOTED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE & NEEDED EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. ENGINE WAS IN DANGER OF FALLING OUT OF THE CAR. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT HAS DECIDED TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
ENGINE CRADLE HAS ROTTED OUT AT ONLY 88,550 MILES. THE ROT IS SO BAD YOU CAN LITERALLY PUSH THROUGH THE BOTTOM WITH YOUR FINGERS, CAUSING SEVERELY UNSTABLE STEERING/STOPPING/TURNING/ACCELERATING. THERE IS NO RUST ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE CAR. CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED AND I WAS TOLD THAT "ITS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY" AND THAT "OUR DECISION IS FINAL" VIA EMAIL. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF THESE VEHICLES OUT THERE WITH THIS ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP BY CHRYSLER.
I WAS INFORMED BY ANOTHER CONSUMER THAT THE FRONT END AND ENGINE CRADLE, IN MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA ARE RUSTING. THIS RUST PROBLEM IS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO ACTUAL FALL OUT OF VEHICLES. AFTER HEARING OF THIS, I HAD TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS CHECK MY VEHICLE. AFTER BOTH INSPECTIONS I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE IS SEVERELY RUSTED AND IS NOT GOING TO BE SAFE TO DRIVE FOR MUCH LONGER. THE ESTIMATED TIME FRAME I WAS GIVEN IS BETWEEN 6-12 MONTHS. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE LOCAL ONLY AND HAVE IT REINSPECTED EVERY THREE MONTHS FOR MY SAFETY. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER'S RECALL CENTER ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO RECALLS ISSUED AT THIS TIME FOR MY VEHICLE AND THEY DO NOT EXPECT THERE TO BE ANY. I CALLED DIRECTLY TO THE CHRYSLER CO. TO HEAR THE SAME THING THAT THE RECALL CENTER TOLD ME AND THAT THEY HAVE NO INTENTIONS OF HELPING PEOPLE THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT I AM UNABLE TO AFFORD THE HIGH COST OF REPAIRS AND WILL SOON BE OUT OF A ROAD SAFE VEHICLE.

THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE CRADLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 114,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PURCHASED CAR USED WITH LESS THAN 85K MILES. WHEN I WENT TO GET IT STATE INSPECTED 1 WEEK AFTER PURCHASE I WAS INFORMED THAT THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT. REPAIR ESTIMATES RANGE FROM $3300 TO OVER $4000. THE CAR IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AND UNDER 100K MILES. NO HELP FROM THE MANUFACTURER. MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME SITUATION. THIS COULD BE A POTENTIAL LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. CAR IS WORTH AS MUCH AS THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE MADE TO MAKE THIS RIGHT. BAD PRODUCT. EVEN PARTIAL HELP WITH THE REPAIRS WOULD HELP. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN "AMERICAN MADE".
TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA LIMITED WITH 34,945, (GARAGE KEPT, WELL MAINTAINED) TO MY CHRYSLER DEALER FOR A OIL CHANGE, WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER IS ROTTING, WAS ADVISED TO CONTACT CHRYSLER, 1-800-992-1997 TO INFORM THEM REGARDING THE ROTTING. I DID CONTACT CHRYSLER SPOKE WITH A MICHAEL HE DID CHECK AND INFORMED ME THAT CHRYSLER WAS ONLY COVERING OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THE 2004-2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA'S FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I MAINTAIN THAT CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE AS WELL TO REPAIR MY 2006 UNDER RECALL AS WELL, BOTH CHRYSLER AND NHTSA ARE FULLY AWARE THAT THIS PROBLEM EXISTS. I DO UNDERSTAND THAT NHTSA HAS MANY COMPLAINTS FROM 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA OWNERS FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY NHTSA, WHY IS THIS, IS IT BECAUSE NO DEATHS HAVE RESULTED? THIS MAKES MY WIFE AND I FEEL THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, NO NEED AT THE PRESENT TIME TO HAVE THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER REPLACED AND WE CAN CONTINUE TO DRIVE OUR 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. *TR

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA TOURING WITH UNDER 87,000 MILES. WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE STATE INSPECTION PERFORMED I WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS CAR WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO THE EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE ENGINE CRADLE. WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND NEEDS OVER $3,600 OF REPAIR WORK DONE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND CAN NOT AFFORD THAT KIND OF REPAIR COST. I FIND IT CRAZY THAT A CAR UNDER 10 YEARS OLD SHOULD HAVE THIS KIND OF RUST DAMAGE. THE VISIBLE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR IS IN PERFECT SHAPE, BUT THE UNDERSIDE IS TOTALLY CORRODED! WHEN I STARTED LOOKING ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ENCOUNTERED THIS ISSUE, I WAS AMAZED AT THE NUMBER OF OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE WITH MY DAUGHTER, AS ONE GOOD POT HOLE COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO FALL OUT AND KILL BOTH OF US OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD AROUND US. I WILL PAYING FOR YEARS ON A CAR I CANT EVEN DRIVE NOR IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL TO SOMEONE ELSE. I FIND IT EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING THAT CHRYSLER REFUSES TO STEP UP AND DO RIGHT BY ITS CUSTOMERS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE A JERKING MOTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, AND WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MOTOR AND TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
JUST TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN FOR ANNUAL NYS INSPECTION AS WAS TOLD IT FAILED DUE TO SEVERE ROTTING OF THE MAIN ENGINE CRADLE AND IT WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THIS CAME AS A TOTAL SHOCK AS THE CAR HAS SHOWN NO OTHER RUSTING OF ANY BODY PARTS AND HAS BEEN A MECHANICALLY SOUND VEHICLE UNTIL THIS POINT. THE MECHANIC SHOWED ME UNDERNEATH THE CAR AND THE OTHER UNDER CARRIAGE COMPONENTS ARE IN ACCEPTABLE SHAPE, ONLY THE CRADLE IS RUSTED THROUGH. I DROVE IT TO THE LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THIS PROBLEM IS KNOWN BY CHRYSLER AND THAT I SHOULD CALL CHRYSLER AND REPORT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR WAS $4400.00! I CALLED CHRYSLER DIRECTLY FROM DEALERSHIP AND AFTER SOME REVIEW I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE FOR ME!! I NOW HAVE A JUNK VEHICLE WITH NO RESALE POSSIBILITY AND I CANT AFFORD A $4400 REPAIR NOR CAN I ALLOW MY WIFE OR MYSELF TO DRIVE IT WITHOUT THE REPAIR BEING DONE AS IT IS UNSAFE. PLEASE HELP ME GET CHRYSLER TO STEP UP AND FIX THE CRADLE AS I HAVE SEEN MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF SIMILAR COMMENTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND PEOPLE ARE BEING PUT AT GREAT RISK! WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME ENGINE MOUNT WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,035.
THERE IS A HOLE IN THE FRAME OF THE CAR DUE TO RUST, IT IS APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES AROUND LOCATED NEAR THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE. A CHRYSLER DEALER HAS DOCUMENTED THE HOLE, BUT STATES THE CAR IS NOT PART OF A RECALL. CHRYSLER HAS RECOGNIZED THE UNUSUAL RUSTING IN THE FRAME AND ISSUED A RECALL FOR SOME OF THE SAME MODEL CARS BUILT OVER JUST A FEW MONTHS, MINE WAS NOT BUILT DURING THIS TIME AND THEREFORE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. CHRYSLER DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE DANGER OF THIS SITUATION. I CALLED TO FILE A COMPLAINT AND THEY STATED THEY WOULD ONLY DOCUMENT IT AND LET ME KNOW IF THERE WAS A RECALL.. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. I BROUGHT IT IN FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND MY MECHANIC FOUND A LOT OF REST ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR. HE BELIEVES IT IS RUST MUCH BEYOND A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF RUST. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION ON MARCH 24, 2015. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO WARRANTY AND NO COVERAGE FOR THE ISSUE. THEY ONLY COVER THE 2004 AND 2005 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH THIS ISSUE. THE AMOUNT OF RUST IS UNREASONABLE FOR A 2006 VEHICLE WITH 120,000 MILES ON IT. *TR

WENT IN TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC FOR AN OIL CHANGE. I WAS INFORMED BY THE MECHANIC THAT THE BOTTOM OF MY CAR RUSTED OUT. THE AREAS OF RUST AND CORROSION ENCOMPASSED THE CRADLE, FRAME RAILS AND CHASSIE. I TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA IN TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I COULDN'T PASS THE IL EMISSIONS TEST. I WAS TOLD THAT MY SUBFRAME WAS VERY RUSTED AND HOLES WERE IN IT. HE TOLD ME THAT THEY FIXED MY CAR SO I CAN PASS EMISSIONS ($900) AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT FOR A FEW MONTHS AND GET RID OF IT. I ASKED HIM HOW MUCH IT WOULD BE TO FIX IT AND HE TOLD ME, IT WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE. I DID MY RESEARCH AND THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 04-05 PACIFICAS AND AFTER LOOKING AT PICTURES OF OTHER SUBFRAMES FOR 04-05 MODELS, THEY LOOK JUST LIKE MINE (RUSTED W/HOLES). 06 PACIFICAS SHOULD ALSO BE IN THE RECALL. I DID NOT CALL CHRYSLER BECAUSE I FELT I WOULD GET THE SAME RESPONSE AS OTHERS. SO NOW I HAVE TO PRAY EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE THAT THE SUBFRAME DOESN'T BREAK. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE CONTACTS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
ON MARCH 2, 2015, I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE OTHER DRIVER WAS AT FAULT, AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. MY PACIFICA PERFORMED WELL AND SUSTAINED ONLY BODY DAMAGE. HOWEVER, IN REPAIRING THE DAMAGE, THE BODY SHOP FOUND A SUBSTANTIALLY CORRODED ENGINE SUB-FRAME, WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $750. THE SAME ISSUE EXISTS WITH EARLIER MODEL PACIFICAS (FOR WHICH I BELIEVE RECALLS EXIST). MY QUESTION OR CONCERN IS WHY CHRYSLER SHOULD BE ABLE TO ESCAPE RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS DECISION TO CONTINUE TO USE DEFECTIVE METHODS AND MATERIALS TO PRODUCE CRITICAL VEHICLE COMPONENTS. *TR

THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING THROUGH LEAVING HOLES, AND FLAKING OFF EVEN WHEN JUST TOUCHED BY HAND. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH 2004 AND 2005 PACIFICAS AS WELL; CHRYSLER EXTENDED WARRANTIES FOR THOSE MODEL YEARS, BUT DECIDED NOT TO FOR 2006 FOR SOME REASON. REALLY THESE SHOULD ALL BE RECALLED ANYWAY AS IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE ENGINE SUPPORT IS ROTTEN WITH RUST WHICH COULD EASILY CAUSE MAJOR ACCIDENTS. *TR
