DURING AN INSPECTION OF THE CAR, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT SEVERE CORROSION OF THE ENGINE CRADLE HAS OCCURRED. THE CORROSION IS SEVERE ENOUGH THAT IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE CAR NOT BE DRIVEN. ON THE INTERNET I NOTE THAT THERE WERE RECALLS (OR REPAIRS) BY CHRYSLER FOR 2005 MODEL YEAR CARS BUT NOT 2006. THE CAR IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE EXCEPT FOR THIS CRADLE MOUNT CORROSION. I NOW HAVE TO REPAIR THE CAR FOR A COST THAT IS MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH, OR REPLACE THE PACIFICA WITH EQUIVALENT FOR MUCH MORE MONEY. CHRYSLER SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE. OBVIOUSLY, MORE THAN THE 2005 CARS ARE INVOLVED. ACCORDING TO THE INTERNET, THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM
I WENT IN TO GET MY OIL CHANGED IN MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA THAT I'VE ONLY HAD A YEAR AND A HALF THE MECHANIC CAME OUT AND GOT ME TO SHOW ME THAT OUR SUBFRAME AND THE ROCKER PANELS ARE ALL RUSTED OUT AND HE TOLD ME HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD LAST UNTIL THE ENGINE AND THE TRANSMISSION AND EVERYTHING WOULD FALL OUT IF THE SUBFRAME WOULD BREAK WHY WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HE SAID YOU MIGHT WANT TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND SO I TOOK IT AND GOT IT CHECKED OUT AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD BE UP TO $2500 TO GET IT FIXED IF THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING ELSE WRONG WHY THEY WERE FIXING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE TRANSFER CASE FAILED AND DISCONNECTED FROM THE MOTOR. THE DRIVER SIDE, STEERING WHEEL, AND FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED WITH FORCE. THERE WAS A WHITE SUBSTANCE THAT EMITTED INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH AFFECTED THE FOUR OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. THE FORCE OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT HINDERED THE VISION OF THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER. THE DRIVER, FRONT PASSENGER, AND TWO REAR PASSENGERS WERE UNINJURED. THE INSURANCE COMPANY STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A THIRD PARTY TECHNICIAN WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE. NEITHER THE INSURANCE COMPANY NOR THE MANUFACTURER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTING THROUGH. THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT TO THE GROUND. I NOTICED THIS AROUND THE 12TH OF FEBRUARY 2016.
AFTER ENCOUNTERING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS INVOLVING FRONT SUSPENSION, MOTOR MOUNTS, POWER STEERING COMPONENTS AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR THE DEALER INFORMED US THE SUB FRAME ASSEMBLY WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS ASSEMBLY HAS STEERING AND SUSPENSION MOUNTED TO IT, AS WELL AS SERVES AS THE CRADLE FOR THE ENGINE. AFTER CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER THEY STATED THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL OR EXTENDED WARRANTY OFFERED BY CHRYSLER AND THEY WOULD PROVIDE NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE.
I BROUGHT MY PACIFICA IN FOR SERVICING, AND WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTING AWAY. THEY SAID IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. FDA SAID THEY WON'T HELP BY FIXING IT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE POWER CONTROL MODULE, THE COOLING FAN AND ACCESSORY BELT WERE REPLACED ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWO TIMES. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
THE DRIVERS SEAT QUIT WORKING AND ALL CONTROLS ON THE STEARING WHEEL QUIT WORKING AND COULD NOT SHUT TURN SIGNALS OFF.
ONE SIDE OF MY ENGINE MOUNT IS RUSTING OUT BADLY AS WELL. WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE A RECALL TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE. I ALSO HAVE IDLING ISSUES IN WHICH IT SEEMS LIKE THE CAR IS GOING TO DIE WHETHER IT'S IN PARK OR DRIVE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE WHILE NOW.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR MINOR MAINTENANCE. THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE FRAME THAT SUPPORTED THE ENGINE WAS RUSTED. THE MECHANIC ADVISED THAT THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR THE ENGINE WOULD FALL OFF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL FROM CHRYSLER. I WAS GIVEN A CLAIM #[XXX] AND WHEN I SPOKE TO CHRYSLER I WAS TOLD THAT OUR VIN # WAS NOT COVERED DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY THEMSELVES HAD ENDED THE RECALLED VEHICLES 2 WEEKS BEFORE OURS WAS PRODUCED. THAT IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AS OUR VEHICLE SUFFERED THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS AS THEY ALL DID 2 WEEKS EARLIER!!! I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. THE FUEL GAUGE WILL READ FULL AND WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE GETS TO HALF A TANK THE GAUGE DROPS TO EMPTY. ALSO WHILE FILLING THE TANK THE NOZZLE FROM THE GAS PUMPS WILL ALWAYS CUT OFF, IT WILL PUMP A FEW DOLLARS AND THEN STOP AND YOU HAVE TO PUMP THE FUEL IN VERY SLOW. I HAVE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK THREE TIMES AND THE GAS TANK TWICE. NOTHING WORKS THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM NOW FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED ON THE ROAD DUE TO THE FUEL GAUGE DROPPING TO EMPTY AND IT IS VERY SCARY.
WHILE TRAVELING I HAD SOME ALIGNMENT ISSUES WITH MY CAR, I BROUGHT IT TO A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICE AREA TO MAKE CERTAIN THE CAR WAS SAFE TO DRIVE HOME TO CONNECTICUT. WHILE I WAS TOLD IT WILL BE FINE TO MAKE IT HOME, MY SUBFRAME WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUST. AS I RESEARCHED THIS, I SEE THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THE PACIFICA 2004-2006 MODELS. BELOW ARE THE STATEMENTS FROM SERVICE: 1. SUB-FRAME BADLY RUSTED REPORTED 12/31/2015 BY CHRYSLER SERVICE EASTON, MD 2. FRONT SUB-FRAME NEARLY BROKEN 01/02/2016 BY TOWN FAIR TIRE, HAMDEN, CT.
I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR STEERING PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SUBFRAME OR C-MEMBER WAS SO ROTTED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. SURPRISINGLY THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD THE PART IN STOCK AT A COST OF $1570.00 PLUS THE ISOLATORS(4 X $58.95). THE TOTAL COST TO REPAIR SINCE I COULDN'T SELL THE CAR WAS $2519.65. IT SEEMS CHRYSLER KNOWS THERE ARE DANGEROUS VEHICLES ON THE ROAD AND DOES NOTHING TO HELP OWNERS DEFER THE REPAIR COSTS. IF THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSIUT I WANT TO BE PART OF IT. I HAVE THE DOCUMENTATION AND PICTURES OF THE RUSTED FRAME ON AND OFF THE CAR ALONG WITH THE REPAIR BILL. IF NEEDED I CAN UPLOAD THE FILES.
THE GAS PEDAL STICKS ON THIS VEHICLE WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. WHEN THE CAR DOES FINALLY START MOVING FORWARD IT "JERKS" FORWARD RAPIDLY. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHEN PULLING OUT OF PARK & ALSO WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. FROM RESEARCHING IT ON THE INTERNET IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE IN WHICH VARIOUS INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD TO MAKE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS AS WELL AS WAITING A BRIEF MOMENT TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AS THE FAILURE WAS GETTING WORSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE INDEPENDENT MECHANICS. THE MECHANICS HAD REPLACED THE BATTERY, THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY AND ADDITIONAL PARTS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA, HAVE HAD IT 2 YEARS NOW. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE GARAGE TO GET AN OIL CHANGE MY MECHANIC CALLED ME OVER TO THE SERVICE BAY TO SHOW ME THAT HE HAD FOUND THAT THE ENGINE SUB-FRAME WAS ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH. THE MECHANIC WENT ON TO TELL ME THAT WHEN IT FINALLY RUSTS THROUGH THAT THE ENGINE WILL DROP DOWN ON TO THE ROAD AND CAUSE ME TO LOSS ALL STEERING CONTROL AND THAT THE ENGINE MAY SLIDE UP UNDER THE CAR THUS RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT, I HAVE TO DRIVE A MAJOR FREEWAY EVERYDAY TO GET TO WORK AND IF THAT HAPPENS TO ME THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE THAT I OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD GET SERIOUSLY HURT/AND KILLED. WHEN I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER HE ALL BUT LAUGHED WHEN I ASKED WHAT CHRYSLER WAS GOING TO DO ABOUT THIS SAFETY HAZARD, HE TOLD ME THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT GOING TO RECALL THESE CARS FOR THIS PROBLEM AND THAT I WAS ON MY OWN IN GETTING IT FIXED, NOW I AM STUCK WITH A CAR THAT HAS NO VALUE AND IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. WHAT CAN I DO?
2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WAS DEEMED UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON 12/12/15 UPON TAKING CAR IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE. MECHANIC STATED THAT SUBFRAME IS RUSTED AND HAS A 6 INCH HOLE MEANING THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OFF THE CAR. I DO KNOW THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH 2004 AND 2005 MODELS AND DIDN'T EXPECT TO HEAR THE NEWS ON MY 2006 MODEL.
ON 12/4/15 WE TOOK OUR 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR AN OIL CHANGE. WHEN WE PICKED UP THE VEHICLE THE MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED TO US THAT THE SUBFRAME THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE IN PLACE IS RUSTED AND WILL NOT PASS ANNUAL PA INSPECTION WITHOUT BEING REPLACED. WE WERE QUOTED AN AMOUNT OF $2,009.28 FOR JUST THE PARTS TO REPLACE THE RUSTED SUBFRAME. THIS DID NOT INCLUDE ANY LABOR. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 73,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN GARAGE KEPT SINCE THE DAY IT WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN 2006. AFTER SOME EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN 2004-2008 CHRYSLER PACIFICA VEHICLES. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CONCERNING THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE SAFETY CONCERN THIS POSES FOR MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AS WELL AS THE FACT THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A VEHICLE THAT IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AND GARAGE KEPT. THE CONTACT AT CHRYSLE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM, BUT THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER A WARRANTY THAT CHRYSLER ISSUED FOR 2004-2005 PACIFICAS. I FIND IT COMPLETELY IRRESPOSIBLE OF CHRYSLER TO DENY FIXING THIS ISSUE WHEN THEY ARE WELL AWARE THAT THEY DID NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH COATING OF THIS PART WHILE MANUFACTURING THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE DAMAGE BUT HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ATTACH IT TO THIS FORM. IF WE ATTEMPT TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE, WE WILL BE PUTTING MORE MONEY INTO THE VEHICLE THAN WHAT IT IS WORTH AND IF WE TRY TO TRADE IN THE VEHICLE, WE WILL NOT BE GIVEN THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE REQUIRED COSTLY REPAIR TO PASS INSPECTION. PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS AS CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR FAILURE TO MANUFACTURE A SAFE VEHICLE.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY GOING THROUGH AN INSPECTION WHEN IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SUB FRAME, ENGINE CRADLE IS ROTTED TO THE POINT THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD AND AROUND 100,000 MILES. THAT IS AROUND 10K MILES PER YEAR. THE VEHICLE LOOKS AND RUNS GREAT OTHERWISE. IF THEY KNOW THAT IT IS A PROBLEM THAT PLACES LIVES AT RISK, WHY DON'T THEY DO THE RIGHT THING AND CORRECT THE PROBLEM.
BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, STEERING STARTED TO LOCK UP, THEN BATTERY LIGHT WHEN OFF. THIS HAPPENED WHEN DRIVING MY CHILDREN TO SCHOOL ON HIGHWAY SPEED LIMIT WAS 35 MPH, I GOT TO SCHOOL,TURNED INTO PARKING LOT,SCHOOL ENTRANCE, BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON LOST STEERING COMPLETELY. THANK GOODNESS NO CARS OR CHILDREN WERE IN THE PARKING LOT. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING.THANKFULLY.
MY 2006 PACIFICA HAS A RUSTED /ROTTED ENGINE SUB FRAME / CRADLE. THE BODY AND PAINT ARE NEAR PERFECT. HOW CAN A PART THE HOLDS THE ENGINE/TRANS/SUSPENSION DETERIORATE SO BADLY NEW SUB FRAME IS A LIST PRICE OF $3500.00.THE COST OF REPAIR IS MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. IT IS OTHERWISE A PERFECT CAR. NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO TRY AND FIND A USED SUB FRAME FROM FLORIDA OR ARIZONA.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A UTILITY POLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN AT THE SCENE. THE PASSENGER WAS INJURED THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS FLICKER WHEN VEHICLE IS RUNNING AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES GO OUT. THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT AS THE HEADLIGHTS WILL GO COMPLETELY OUT. TESTED WITH VEHICLE STATIONARY AND IN MOTION ON A STATE MAINTAINED LETTERED ROADWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED AND IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE I CALLED CHRYSLER THEY SAID TOO BAD FOR ME I HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS.
ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2006 PACIFICA (85000 MILES)...ON OCTOBER 16, 2015, I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED FOR A ROUTINE SCHEDULED OIL CHANGE AND MULTI-POINT INSPECTION (NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT MESSAGE TRIGGERED THE VISIT.) IN THE PROCESS OF RETURNING ME THE KEYS AND DIRECTING ME TO THE CASHIER, THE SERVICE ADVISOR MENTIONED THAT A PART KNOWN AS A "FRONT CROSS MEMBER" WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO RUST/CORROSION SPOTTED ON THE INSPECTION WITH ESTIMATED COST OF REPAIR AT $1862 FOR THE PART AND $644 FOR THE LABOR (ESTIMATED TIME TO COMPLETE THE REPAIR AT 5.6 HOURS). THE SERVICE ADVISOR MADE MENTION THAT FAILURE TO DO THE REPAIR COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE FALLING OUT. UPON RETURNING HOME, I GOOGLED "PACIFICA FRAME RUST" AND DISCOVERED THIS PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. I LEARNED THERE IS A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT IN OHIO INVOLVING THIS ISSUE WITH MOTIONS AND RULINGS RELATIVELY FRESH WITH A JUDGE NAMED "DONALD C. NUGENT" HEARING THE CASE WITH THE FIRST NAME OF PLAINTIFF NAMED BEING "HOLLAND ET AL" AND THE DEFENDANT IN THE SUIT BEING NAMED "FCA" AS IN FIAT CHRYSLER. FROM INFORMATION I HAVE GATHERED ONLINE, I HAVE DISCOVERED THAT ENGINE-CRADLE ROT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA. CHRYSLER ADMITS THEY DIDN'T APPLY ENOUGH COATING TO THE ENGINE'S SUB-FRAME DURING ASSEMBLY, BUT THUS FAR HAS ONLY OFFERED TO COVER UNDER WARRANTY ONLY A VERY SMALL PORTION OF THE VEHICLES (APPROX 7000 IN A NOVEMBER 9, 2010 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN). LATER, ON MARCH 16, 2012, FIATCHRYSLER ISSUED A NEW TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN SUPERCEDING THE PREVIOUS TSB STATING THE ENGINE CRADLE DEFECT AND EXTENDED WARRANTY APPLIED ONLY TO 2004-05 PACIFICAS IN CANADA AND SALT BELT STATES MANUFACTURED IN A SIX WEEK WINDOW IN 2004. THIS MEANS APPROX 300000 PACIFICAS ARE DANGEROUS AND IN NEED OF REPAIR MINE INCLUDED.

TOOK CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE, MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS SHOWING SOME PRETTY SEVERE RUST ISSUES. CONTACTED CHRYSLER, THEY SAID THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM, SO I WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL REPAIRS. SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET SHOWS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN AND PRETTY WIDESPREAD PROBLEM. SORRY TO SEE THAT A COMPANY THAT I HELPED BAIL OUT A FEW YEARS AGO, DOESN'T STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT.

IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IF THE SUBFRAME FAILS ENTIRELY THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE.

IN INVESTIGATING THE VEHICLE IT SEEMS THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH SUB-FRAME ON THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA FROM 2004-2008. IS THERE A RECALL ON THIS PART? WENT TO GET AN OIL CHANGE ON MY 2006 PACIFICA AS I HAVE BEEN DOING ABOUT EVERY 6 MONTHS & WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULDN'T TOUCH IT BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS READY TO FALL THROUGH & WAS ADVISED NOT TO EVEN DRIVE IT HOME THAT DAY. SO IT TURNS OUT THAT THE SUB-FRAME WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY & BARELY HANGING IN THERE. THIS CAR IS ONLY 9 YEARS OLD & HAS BEEN (FOR THE MOST PART) KEPT IN A GARAGE WHEN IT WASN'T IN USE. I SUBMITTED A CLAIM TO CHRYSLER & WAS INFORMED BY THE CAR DEALER WHERE I TOOK IT THAT THEY DENIED THE CLAIM & STATED THAT IT WAS AN ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM SO I CAN'T HELP BUT WONDER WHY EVERYONE ELSE'S ENGINES AREN'T FALLING OUT IF THAT'S THE CASE.I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD HIT ONE OF THESE POT HOLES THAT WE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS SPRING AT 70 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY. VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED FROM A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP.
ENGINE CARDLE ( SUBFRAME) WAS RUSTED OUT AND MECHANICE SUGGESTED ITS NOR SAFE TO DRIVE. ACCORDING TO MECHANICS AND COMPLAINS FIELED ON THIS WEB SITE ITS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLS AND IT WILL CAUS CRASHES SOON.
UPON REGULAR MAINTENANCE, THE AUTO MECHANIC DISCOVERED MY 2006 PACIFICA ENGINE CRADLE FRAME IS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT. HE ADVISED ME THE COST OF REPAIR IS SO HIGH THAT IT IS NOT WORTH TO REPAIR. HE FURTHER REQUIRED ME TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE A SUBFRAME RUSTED THOUGH THE WHOLE METAL FRAME SINCE THE CAR WAS ALWAYS KEPT IN MARYLAND, WE HARDLY HAVE ANY SNOW IN THE LAST 10 YEARS. FROM THE SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, IT TURNS OUT THAT THIS SUBFRAME PROBLEM AFFECTED WAS COMMON IN MANY PACIFICA ON THE ROAD. WE FELT FORTUNATE THAT THE ENGINE HAS NOT DROPPED ON THE GROUND AND LEAD TO A FATAL CRASH. WHY THERE IS NOT RECALL ON THESE PACIFICAS .

IT WAS SO BAD THAT THEY DIDN'T ALIGN THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WANT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND EXPLAINED THE ISSUE. THEIR RESPONSE WAS THIS IS A BUY HERE PAY HERE AND THE VEHICLE WAS AS IS NO WARRANTY SO THEIR NOT RESPONSIBLE. WOW....WAS MY RESPONSE.... SO I FOLLOWED UP BY CALLING THE DEALER ABOUT THE ISSUE... BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE FRAME ISSUE FOR 2006 BUT ONLY FOR CERTAIN VEHICLES IN 2005.... NOW IF THAT AIN'T JUST BLOW MY MIND...ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS FILE A COMPLAINT AND HOPE ENOUGH PEOPLE DO TOO FOR IT TO BE A CHANCE FOR RECALL... I AM A SINGLE PARENT WITH 2 CHILDREN AND CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIR OF THIS. MY VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN THE SHOP, NOT EVEN 30 MINUTES PASSED AND I WAS CONTACTED IMMEDIATELY BY THE MECHANIC, THAT IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING MY MOTOR MOUNT HE NOTICED THAT MY CRADLE WAS ROTTED OUT AND VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE THIS WAS A VERY IMPORTANT COMPONENT ON MY VEHICLE, (STEERING, ENGINE, TRANSMISSION AND ECT.) ARE BEING HELD UP BY THE CRADLE, AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT AT ANYTIME! I AM IN FEAR FOR MY FAMILY AND I, TO KNOW THAT WE TRAVEL AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE FREE WAY. WE LIVE IN A CITY WHERE THERE ARE MANY POT HOLES AND CRATERS IN THE STREETS WE DRIVE ON, AND TO KNOW THAT WE CAN BE IN DANGER IS INSANE. HE QUOTED ME AROUND $3,000 TO REPAIR AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO COVER THIS ISSUE. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING DONE BY THE CHRYSLER CORP. HOPEFULLY THIS SPEAKS FOR MANY OWNERS OF THIS SAME VEHICLE.

MY REGULAR AUTOMOBILE SERVICE COMPANY RECENTLY COMPLETED A REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT BRAKE COMPONENTS ON MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. UPON ROUTINE INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE'S UNDERCARRIAGE, THEY IDENTIFIED SEVERE CORROSION OF THE "ENGINE CRADLE". THEY ADVISED THAT ENGINE CRADLE WAS IN VERY POOR CONDITION AND THAT FAILURE WAS LIKELY IN THE NEAR FUTURE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO DROP OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER/DODGE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE CRADLES IN THAT MODEL YEAR PACIFICA, BUT THAT THERE CURRENTLY WAS NO RECALL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I WAS QUOTED $3,000.00 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE CRADLE, WHICH I CAN NOT AFFORD. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT IF THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, WHY IS THERE NO RECALL OR ANY OTHER APPARENT EFFORT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM? THE VEHICLE IS IN OTHERWISE GOOD SHAPE AND RUNS WELL, BUT I AM AFRAID OF DRIVING IT, CONCERNED THAT MY FAMILY OR I COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED. CAN YOU ASSIST ME?

I CHECKED FOR RECALLS AND THERE WEREN'T ANY FOR 2006. THERE WERE RECALLS FOR 2004 AND 2005 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM STATING THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS NOT PROPERLY COATED WHICH RESULTED IN THE RUST. THEY STATED THERE WAS A HIGHER INCIDENCE OF RUST IN SALT BELT STATES WHICH APPLIES TO THIS VEHICLE. THERE IS ALSO A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR VEHICLES FROM 2004-2008. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL FROM 2006 AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP. THEY FELT AS THOUGH THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN CORRECTED. I DISAGREE SINCE THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED A YEAR LATER. I FEEL AS THOUGH CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE AND SHOULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM.
