MY CAR SEATS MOVE WHILE I AM DRIVING AUTOMATICALLY. WITH MY SEAT BELT ON SOMETIMES I CANT TOUCH THE PEDALS. ALSO, MY CAR IS STALLING AND IT EATS OIL NONSTOP. I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED AND NOTHING IS SHOWN AS WRONG. I SEE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL AND IT WAS DONE SO WHY IS THIS STILL HAPPENING. SEAT ISSUE IS VERY DANGEROUS, I HAVE TO DRIVE AND HOLD THE BUTTON FORWARD ON THE DOOR TO STOP IT FROM MOVING. *TR
I TOOK MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA FOR NEW TIRES AND A NEW YORK STATE INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC HAD THE CAR ON THE LIFT AND TOLD ME THE ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME WAS RUSTED/ROTTED OUT AND THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE IS 8 YEARS OLD AND HAS ONLY APPROXIMATELY 55,000 MILES. THE RIGHT AND LEFT SECTIONS OF THE ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME WHERE THERE IS WELDING ARE THE ONLY SECTIONS OF THE FRAME THAT ARE RUSTED/ROTTED OUT TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD STICK A FINGER THROUGH THE ROTTED OUT SECTION (CAN PROVIDE PICTURES IF NEEDED). I CONTACTED CHRYSLER'S NATIONAL CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCATE DEALERSHIP FOR DIGITAL IMAGING THAT WOULD HELP CHRYSLER DETERMINE IF IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT OR ALTERNATIVELY OWNER CAUSED. I DID AS INSTRUCTED AND WAS TOLD A FEW DAYS LATER THAT THE FRAME ROT WAS NOT A FACTORY DEFECT BUT RATHER OWNER CAUSED. THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE OF REPAIR OF APPROXIMATELY $5,000. AFTER A BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH, I REALIZED THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CHRYSLER PACIFICA AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE PACIFICA OWNERS LIKE MYSELF AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC HAVE NOT BEEN MADE AWARE OF. PER MY MECHANIC AND OTHER GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENTS THAT I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH, IF THE ENGINE CRADLE SUB FRAME WERE TO GIVE OUT WHILE THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, A SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THE CAR WILL NOT BE DRIVEN BY MY FAMILY UNTIL REPAIRED AS I WON'T RISK THE POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCE. I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT WITH THE HOPE THAT AT MINIMUM PACIFICA OWNERS ARE NOTIFIED OF THE POTENTIAL FOR FRAME ROT TO PROACTIVELY REDUCE THE CHANCE OF THE INEVITABLE ACCIDENT. ALSO, I AM DISAPPOINTED IN CHRYSLER FOR NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE AS OTHER CAR MANUFACTURERS SUCH AS TOYOTA, HYUNDAI AND FORD HAVE WHEN PRESENTED WITH SIMILAR SAFETY ISSUES. *TR
GOT IN OUR CAR, PREPARING TO BACK OUT AND DO SOME SHOPPING. GEAR SHIFT (AUTOMATIC) WOULD NOT MOVE. CALLED A WRECKER, PUSHED CAR OUT INTO DRIVEWAY, AND CAR WAS LOADED UP. THE SHIFT LOCK LEVER WAS BROKEN. IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY IMPORTANT PART AND YET WAS MADE OF PLASTIC. A METAL PART WAS USED TO MAKE REPAIR. IF THIS PART HAD BROKEN WHILE WE WERE SPEEDING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, A TRAGEDY WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE RESULTED. TOTAL COST TO US WAS $230.00. COST TO OUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR THE WRECKER SERVICE WAS $50.00. THANK YOU FOR ANY ASSISTANCE YOU CAN GIVE US. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING REGULAR MAINTENANCE PERFORMED, THE TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED HIM THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE SUB FRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,000. PULLING INTO PARKING LOT, ENGINE QUIT. DID NOT NOTICE IF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WAS ABLE TO RESTART VEHICLE AFTER COMING TO STOP AND SHIFTING INTO PARK. A REPEAT OF INCIDENT OCCURRED ON JAN. 1, 2015. DO NOT KNOW IF RELATED TO PCM RECALL IN 2006. *TR
I TOOK MY 2006 PACIFICA IN TO A DEALER ON 7/18/2014 TO HAVE A NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END INSPECTED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TIE ROD BUSHINGS HAD FAILED FOR A SECOND TIME IN ABOUT A YEAR. THEN HE TOLD ME THAT PART OF THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE SUB FRAME WAS RUSTING AND CRACKING TO THE POINT THAT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION COULD FALL OUT. I FOUND OUT THAT CHRYSLER HAD A RECALL FOR 2004 AND 2005 PACIFICAS WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT WOULD NOT COVER IT FOR ANY OTHER YEARS. THE FACT THAT THEY KNOW THEY HAD A PROBLEM COUPLED WITH THE NUMBER OF ISSUES THAT I HAVE SEEN ONLINE, I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY WOULDN'T COVER THIS FAILURE ON ALL MODEL YEARS. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED? THIS WILL BE THE LAST CHRYSLER THAT I WILL EVER BUY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE BEING SERVICED, THE PRIVATE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE FRAME WAS RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO MY MECHANIC FOR IT'S REGULAR TIRE ROTATION & OIL CHANGE ON JULY 9, 2014. HE CALLED ME TO COME OVER AND SHOWED ME THE RUST ON THE FRONT OF THE SUBFRAME. I'VE RELIGIOUSLY MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE AND HAD NO IDEA THAT IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE PACIFICA. I'VE NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE ADVISING ME THAT IT COULD BE A PROBLEM AND I'VE BEEN A LOYAL CHRYSLER CUSTOMER FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 20 YEARS. THIS CAR IS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD!!! *TR
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR A BRAKE JOB AND FOR ISSUES WITH THE RIDE AND AN ODOR IN THE INTERIOR CABIN THAT APPEARED AFTER PROLONGED ACCELERATION. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE DUE TO THE SUB-FRAME BEING ROTTED AND THE MOTOR MOUNTS WORN TO SUCH A DEGREE THAT THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT OF THE VEHICLE ENTIRELY. THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM WAS COMPROMISED AS WELL, INCLUDING THE EXHAUST MANIFOLDS. IN ADDITION, MUCH OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION WAS SHOT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. OUR FAMILY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED MANY, MANY TIMES AT A CHRYSLER FACILITY OVER THE EIGHT YEARS WE OWNED IT. WE WERE NEVER INFORMED ONCE THAT THE SUB-FRAME HAD ANY SIGN OF EXCESSIVE CORROSION UNTIL NOW. WE BELIEVE THE CORROSION IS THE RESULT OF POOR DESIGN AND POSSIBILITY POOR MATERIAL. WE ALSO BELIEVE THE ENGINE INSTABILITY CONTRIBUTED TO SOME OF THE OTHER DAMAGE. THE TOTAL REPAIR BILL EXCEEDED $6,500. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THERE WAS A ROCK SLIDE, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO CRASH INTO A BOULDER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DID NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 163,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SUBFRAME NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
THE ABS SYSTEM IS MALFUNCTIONING. I HAVE HAD NEW ROTORS, NEW CALIPERS AND NEW PADS PUT ON THE CAR. THE ABS LIGHT CONTINUES TO GO ON & OFF. WHEN BRAKING IT INTERMITTENTLY FAILS TO BRAKE APPROPRIATELY. IT EITHER BRAKES WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL NOT CATCHING PROPERLY OR IT DOESN'T BRAKE AT THE CORRECT TIME. IT IS SLOW TO RESPOND TO PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. LAST WEEK THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHEN I BRAKED AND WAS TRYING TO TURN LEFT ONTO ANOTHER ROAD. IT STARTED WORKING AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS. *TR
MY CAR FAILED ON US AS WE WERE ON OUR TRIP TOWARDS BROWNSVILLE TEXAS. THE ELECTRICAL IN MY CAR STARTED FLICKERING AND THE MOTOR KEPT ACCELERATING ITSELF.. THEN THE GAS INDICATOR WENT FROM SHOWING HALF TANK FULL TO 10 MILES TO EMPTY.. WE WERE IN THE DESERTED PART OF THE CHECKPOINT RANCH SO WE HAD ABOUT 30 MILES UNTIL A GAS STATION WE THOUGHT WE COULDN'T POSSIBLY JUST RUN OUT OF GAS, BUT AS WE CONTINUED 5 MINUTES LATER OUR CAR ELECTRICAL JUST SOUNDED A SPARK AND OUR CAR STARTING SHUTTING OFF, HARD STEERING TO PULL ON SIDE OF ROAD.. BUT THANK GOD WE HAD NO VEHICLES BEHIND US SO THAT PREVENTED AN ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING.. WE CALLED FAMILY MEMBER TO GO HELP US HAUL OUR CAR TO A NEAREST GAS STATION OR MECHANIC.. SOMETHING I NEVER WANT TO EXPERIENCE WITH MY CHILDREN 3 AND 1 IN MY CAR AND THE HOT SUMMER.. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR MY CAR IF IT FALLS IN THE RECALL CATEGORY BUT IT SHOWS NOTHING.. YET IT SHOWED TO HAVE SIMILAR DEFECTS AS THE ONES BEING RECALLED. *TR
MOTOR MOUNTS REPLACED, TIE RODS REPLACED, CONTROL ARMS REPLACED ALL DONE IN THE LAST MONTH !! WHY DOESN'T CHRYSLER HAVE A RECALL OUT ON THIS ISSUES SINCE IT'S KNOWN FOR IT! OH DID I MENTION THE GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK ALL THE TIME! OTHER THING IS MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND OFF...IT'S BEEN DIAGNOSED AS THE FUEL PUMP....REALLY AT THIS POINT I'M TIRED OF PUTTING MONEY INTO THE CAR. *TR
I FILLED UP THE TANK WITH GAS AND WAS ON A LONG ROAD TRIP. I HAD RESET THE TRIP AT THE TIME OF FILL UP AND I HAD TRACKED THE HIGHWAY MILEAGE USING A LITTLE LESS THAN 1/2 TANK THEN REFILLED IT THEN TOOK HOW MANY MILES I HAD GONE DIVIDED IT BY HOW MANY GALLONS OF GAS IT TOOK TO FILL IT BACK UP. I WAS GETTING 21 MILES PER GALLON. WHEN THE GAS GAUGE REACHED 1/2 TANK, IT DROPPED STRAIGHT TO EMPTY. I HAD ONLY GONE ROUGHLY 200 MILES AND FIGURED AT 21 MILES PER GALLON I SHOULD EASILY GET 350 TO 400 MILES BEFORE NEEDING GAS SO I CARRIED ON. AFTER I HAD TRAVELED 220 MILES ON A FULL TANK, (20 GALLONS) THE MOTOR JUST SHUT ITSELF OFF. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED FOR HELP. THEY BROUGHT 2 GALLONS OF GAS AND PUT IT IN AND IT FIRED RIGHT UP. I DROVE 2 MILES BACK TO THE GAS STATION AND FILLED IT BACK UP AND IT ONLY TOOK 8 GALLONS TO FILL IT BACK UP. 10 IF YOU INCLUDE THE 2 WE HAD JUST PUT IN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THAT IS 1/2 A TANK OF GAS. WHEN I GOT HOME I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND THERE IS A RECALL F44 ON MY VEHICLE THAT DESCRIBES THIS PROBLEM BUT WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER, THEY SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT MANUFACTURED WITHIN THE DATES OF THE RECALL. IF MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THE ISSUE SHOULDN'T THEY COVER IT? *TR
MY 2006 PACIFICA WAS JUST FOUND TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT ENGINE CRADLE RUST/CORROSION ISSUES. THIS PROBLEM JUST SURFACED IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS. IT IS CLEAR THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT APPROPRIATELY HANDLING THE ISSUE SINCE THEY ARE NOT COVERING THE REPAIR AND THERE APPEARS TO BE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ADDRESSING THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN FOR STATE INSPECTION ON 6/16/14 AND FAILED BECAUSE THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT ENGINE CRADLE WAS RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE AT TIME OF FAILURE WAS 97,000. UPDATED 8/22/14*CN
WE HAVE A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA THAT WE PURCHASED USED IN 2008. THE CAR STALLS WHEN TURNING LIKE THE 2004-2005 MODELS THAT HAD A RECALL F44. WE CONTACTED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE AT 800 992 1997AND FOUND OUT THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD TAKEN THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR DURING THE INITIAL RECALL. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE TOLD US TO TAKE THE CAR BACK TO CHRYSLER BECAUSE IT IS COVERED UNDER THE SAFETY RECALL WARRANTY FOR 10 YEARS. WHEN WE TOOK THE CAR IN WE LEARNED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE IS CORRODING ANOTHER RECALL X26. THE DEALER TOLD US IT WOULD COST A COUPLE OF THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR. ADDITIONALLY, WE WERE TOLD THAT WE NEED TWO NEW FUEL PUMPS AND THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY THE F44 RECALL BECAUSE OUR 2006 CAR IS OUTSIDE OF THE 2004 - 2005 MODEL YEAR RECALL TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMPS. WE PAID THE DEALER THE COST OF THE SERVICE CHARGE $103 FOR THE INFORMATION AND WERE TOLD WE MIGHT CONSIDER BUYING A NEW CAR. I AM SURPRISED/FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT TAKING ANY ACCOUNTABILITY FOR BOTH VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUES AND IN ESSENCE MADE $103 PROFIT OFF OF THEIR NEGLIGENCE TO CREATE A SAFE CAR. *TR
DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, SIGNIFICANT RUST-THROUGH WAS DISCOVERED ON ENGINE CRADLE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN GARAGED ALL ITS LIFE AND ONLY HAS 51,000 MILES. I SEE THROUGH INVESTIGATION THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE 2004 AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO HELP FROM CHRYSLER FOR THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. WELL MY DAYS OF BEING A "CHRYSLER AND DODGE MAN" ARE OVER! *TR
WENT IN FOR REGULAR YEARLY INSPECTION TO FIND OUT THAT MY MOTOR MOUNT WAS ALMOST DETATCHED FROM MY VEHICLE .THE POWERTRAIN WAS RUSTED .SO I HAD TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MOUNT THE POWERTRAIN STILL NEEDS REPLACED.IN THE 6 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE NEVER BEEN NOTIFYED OF A POWERTRAIN RECALL.AT THIS POINT I'M VERY UPSET TO FIND OUT THAT THIS WAS NEVER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION.HOWEVER THIS COULD HAVE PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK .I HOPE AND PRAY THAT THIS CAN BE REPLACED AS IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SINCE THE RECAL.L PLEASE NOTIFY YOUR CUSTOMER BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC OCCURS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. WHEN THE FUEL GAUGE REACHED HALF FULL, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V432000 (FUEL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
A FEW WEEKS BEFORE THIS HAPPENED, I NOTICED MY REAR TIRE LEANING OUTWARD. TOOK IT TOO THE SHOP A FEW TIMES WONDERING WHAT WAS THE CAUSE. IT WAS DETERMINED FROM A DEALERSHIP IT WAS THE STRUTS. I WAS TOLD THE PACIFICA WAS KNOWN FOR IT. SO I HAD THE STRUTS REPLACED. IT HELPED BUT THE TIRE WAS STILL LEANING, IT WASN'T PERFECT LIKE THE REST. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO OTHER REASON BECAUSE EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD UNDERNEATH AND SUSPENSION. I LOOKED SEVERAL TIMES, MYSELF. NOT SEEING ANY MAJOR RUST OR ANYTHING UNSAFE. THEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY 150 MILE'S FROM HOME, AT 70 MPH, A HARD BANG AND THE REAR END LIFTED UP AND DROPPED DOWN. CAR UNCONTROLLABLE. FINALLY ABLE TO STOP AND REALIZE THE SUBFRAME DROPPED RIGHT OUT OF THE CAR LEAVING MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL ON THE GROUND. IT HAD RUSTED FROM THE TOP OF THE SUBFRAME DOWN. LOOKED ON LINE AND SEEN IT WAS HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. CALLED CHRYSLER WAS TOLD MY PROBLEM. HENCE MY FIRST AMERICAN MADE CAR AND MY LAST. POS!!!
TOOK MY 2006 PACIFICA IN FOR INSPECTION. THE ENGINE CRADLE IS RUSTED THROUGH AND UNSAFE. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE IS EXTENDED COVERAGE ON SOME OF THESE CARS. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD I SHOULD PAY FOR IT (2500.00) NOW AND SAVE MY RECEIPTS BECAUSE THERE MAY BE A RECALL SOMEDAY THAT WILL COVER MY CAR. THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM BUT ARE NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ON MULTIPLE WEBSITES ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND EVEN FOUND A PETITION ON CHANGE.ORG, WHICH I SIGNED. I ALSO FOUND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO PUT TOGETHER A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, COUNT ME IN. *TR
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
THE FIRST ISSUE OCCURRED IN MAY WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA UPHILL AT ABOUT 35 MPH. ABOUT HALFWAY UP THE HILL MY CAR STALLED UNEXPECTEDLY AND LOCKED UP. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND PULLED ON THE STEERING WHEEL (THE AUTOMATIC STEERING WAS OUT) WITH A LOT OF FORCE TO PUT MY BACK RIGHT TIRE ON THE CURB TO STOP SLIDING DOWN THE HILL. THEN I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURN THE CAR OFF, AND RESTART THE CAR. I PULLED INTO THE NEXT AVAILABLE PARKING LOT TO RECOVER AND TRY TO EVALUATE MY CAR FOR WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. THE SECOND ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA, TRAVELING ABOUT 30 MPH, MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA STALLED WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. EVERYTHING LOCKED UP. THANKFULLY I WAS IN A LOW TRAFFIC AREA AND THE CARS BEHIND ME WERE FOLLOWING AT A SAFE DISTANCE. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED THE CAR WITHOUT ISSUE. MY CONCERN NOW IS THAT THIS ISSUE WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AND MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN MY CAR SHUTS OFF, THERE IS NO INDICATION THAT IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. *TR

LIKE OTHER EARLY MODEL CHRYSLER PACIFICAS NOTED ON THE NHTSA SITE- MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN INTO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE SHOP INFORMED ME THE CAR WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO THE ENGINE CRADLE/ SUBFRAME BEING RUSTED/ROTTED OUT SO BADLY YOU COULD SEE THROUGH IT. THEY SAID THAT IF A LARGE ENOUGH BUMP WAS ROLLED OVER, THE ENGINE COULD FALL OUT AND A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR AS THE VEHICLE WOULD MORE THAN LIKELY LOSE CONTROL. I AM NOW AFRAID TO ALLOW MY WIFE AND 2 SMALL CHILDREN TO DRIVE IN IT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED FOR ROUGHLY $10,000 LESS THAN A YEAR PRIOR TO LEARNING ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE FROM A CHRYSLER USED AND NEW CAR DEALER-BRYDEN MOTORS IN BELOIT, WI. I ALSO PURCHASED AN $2000 EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE, WHICH OF COURSE SOMETHING LIKE THIS IS NOT COVERED IN SUCH A PLAN. I BELIEVE THE DAMAGE WAS THERE PRIOR TO PURCHASE AND THE DEALER EITHER FAILED TO INFORM ME, OR DIDN'T PERFORM A WELL CARED FOR INSPECTION PRIOR TO THE SALE. UPON TAKING THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER-THEY SAID IT WAS TOO FAR OUT FROM THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THEY DID TAKE PICTURES AND SEND TO THE CHRYSLER "IMAGING DEPARTMENT" WHERE THE MANUFACTURER DEFECT CLAIM I ASKED FOR THEM TO PLACE FOR ME WAS IMMEDIATELY DENIED FOR COVERAGE. I WILL BE REACHING OUT TO CHRYSLER AND THE LOCAL MEDIA IF NECESSARY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME, DETERMINED IT WAS A COMPUTER CODE SAID IT WAS A MINOR VACUUM LEAK, SMOKE CHECK DETERMINED THAT LEAK IS COMING FROM TOP OF GAS TANK. MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS COMMON ON THE PACIFICA THAT HOSE ATTACHED TO TOP OF FUEL PUMP CAUSES INTAKE LINE TO BREAK AND ONLY FIX IX TO REPLACE FUEL PUMP EVEN THOUGH FUEL PUMP ITSELF IS FINE AN APPROX REPAIR COST OF $800, PARTS AND LABOR. MY ONLINE RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH PACIFICA'S. NOW MY GAS CAP LIGHT IS ON AND A SECOND VACUUM LEAK IS SHOWING. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO REPAIR. DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, A MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS SEVERE RUST (50%) TO THE SUPPORT SYSTEM HOLDING UP THE ENGINE ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE. THE CAR ONLY HAS 84,000 MILES. HE SAID THAT IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, THAT, IF NOT REPAIRED, WOULD EVENTUALLY BREAK WAY AND THE ENGINE WOULD DROP OUT OF THE SUPPORT SYSTEM. WHEN I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CARE, THE INTAKE OPERATOR BASICALLY READ FROM A SCRIPT AND STATED THAT MY VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED IN THE RECALL, EVEN THOUGH THE SAME PART WAS AFFECTED, AND THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST ME. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I FOUND OVER 700 OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS THE THIRD CHRYSLER THAT I HAVE OWNED (AND MY SECOND PACIFICA) WITH 100% SATISFACTION UNTIL THIS POINT. UNLESS CHRYSLER DEALS WITH THIS ISSUE TO MY SATISFACTION AND MY SAFETY IS THEY FIRST CONCERN, I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER CHRYSLER PRODUCT AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 198,000.

ONLY PARKED IN GARAGE. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ADMITTED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE 2004 &2005 MODEL (AND THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THEM). AFTER HAVING $1600.00 OF FRONT END WORK ON MY VEHICLE THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT I SHOULD GET RID OF THIS CAR BECAUSE THE SUB FRAME IS SEVERELY ROTTED AND NOT SAFE. THIS SUB FRAME SUPPORTS THE WHOLE ENGINE AND IF IT FAILS THE ENGINE WILL COLLAPSE TO THE GROUND. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND THERE IS NO ROT AT ALL ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE CAR. I'VE RESEARCHED THIS VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2004 AND 2005 MODELS. I'VE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH THESE VEHICLES MADE IN EVERY YEAR NOT JUST 2004-2005. I'VE CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAY NO HELP IS AVAILABLE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SAID IT WAS JUST REPLACED BEFORE I BOUGHT IT SO THAT'S TWO CONVERTERS IN A LITTLE OVER A YEAR. THEN MY ENGINE CRADLE IS SO ROTTED THAT THERE'S A HUGE HOLE IN IT. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THERE IS ONLY A RECALL ON 2004-2005 BUT YET ALL THERE OTHER CARS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM BUT THEY WON'T HELP! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS 50 PERCENT FULL HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO THERE NOT BEING ANY FUEL IN THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
MY 2006 CHRYSLER PACIFICA WITH 89000 MILES ON IS A TIME BOMB DO TO CORROSION OF THE ENGINE CRADLE,MY MECHANIC CALL CHRYSLER DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY RECALL ON IT AND WAS TOLD NO.I CONTACT CHRYSLER MY SELF TO SEE IF THEIR WILL HELP WITH THE COST THE ANSWER SORRY NO WARRANTY GOOD LUCK WITH THE REPAIR ,I CAN NOT UNDERSTAND WHY NOBODY DUE, SOME THINK CHRYSLER DEFINITELY WONT DO NOTHING ABBOT THEIR PRODUCT. TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICING. DEALER CALLED BACK STATING THE FRONT CRADLE - SUB FRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH TO A DANGEROUS POINT AND THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD. I SUBSEQUENTLY DETERMINED THAT THE 2004 AND 2005 PACIFICA VEHICLES HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THAT CHRYSLER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR MANY IN "SALT STATES" TO 10 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO ACCEPT LIABILITY FOR THE 2006 EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE FRONT CRADLE IS WHAT HOLDS YOUR TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE IN THE CAR. I AM PURSING DAIMLER, CHRYSLER AND FIAT FOR A REFUND OF THE MONIES I SPENT TO FIX THIS. MY CAR HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS LESS THAN 120,000 MILES ON IT OF GREATER IMPORTANCE TO ME. CURRENT 2006 PACIFICA OWNERS NEED TO BE ADVISED OF THIS ISSUE AS THEY ARE DRIVING VERY GOOD LOOKING VEHICLES THAT MAY POSE AN EXTREME HAZARD TO THEM AND OTHERS ON THE ROADWAY I AM ASKING THE NHTSA TO TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION AGAINST CHRYSLER TO ENSURE WARNINGS ARE SENT TO CURRENT OWNERS. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE ON THIS RUST ISSUE. THE SAME ISSUE AS WAS FOUND IN EARLIER PACIFICA MODELS. *TR
